Title: A Different Setting Fandom: Shokugeki no Soma Category: Genderswap, AU Ship (if any): Doujima Gin  x Saiba Jouichiro Summary: Having two fathers was nothing to fifteen year-old Yukihira Soma. For one thing, it seems that she was at an advantage for it. Her biological father, Yukihira Joichiro, runs a diner with her as his assistant, and her other father, Dojima Gin, is a chef at a resort, so it only goes to show that the girl of fifteen would be so dedicated to cooking, that she would make a living out of it.

Main Idea: While I was in the middle of writing Fem Soma Oneshots in ff.net, I got this inspiration and imagined Soma being raised by both Jouichiro and Gin as their own, with Soma taking up the last name of Yukihira. She still remains oblivious of what their reputations are at this point. 

“I have to say, Soma-chan is pretty skilled at cooking. I’ve been hearing from Kurase-san that no one could beat her in Home Economics classes,” Tomita commented at the counter table where Joichiro was working.

The man laughed delighted at the compliments towards his daughter, “Yeah, if only she’d be more ladylike, then I could rest easy. But that’s not the case.” He mused. “She’s a bit brazen, but a good kid, nonetheless. Gin and I will never let her get married unless the boy can match up to us,”

Tomita laughed, “That’s a tall order, Yukihira-san,” Tomita said, “The boy will have to prepare himself for the sake of your approvals,”

Joichiro sniggered, “Well, Soma’s own standards will prevent her from choosing a wimp anyways, and I’d like a challenge other than her and her other father once in a while,”

As the two talked a bit more while he was cooking, Soma came rushing down to the restaurant from their house door with a gleeful smile. “Dad! Father’s on the phone~!” she said while holding up a cute stuffed polar bear with a diamond studded bracelet on its wrist, with a tag that says, ‘For Soma-chan, From Kuma-san~’

“Where did you get that?” Joichiro wondered.

“Just now. The delivery guy brought it through the back entrance. I just opened the package after Father called. He wants to talk to you,”

With a sigh, Joichiro nodded. “Alright. Place the polar bear somewhere and take over for me for a while,” he ordered as he went to the back of the shop where the door to the second floor stairs, which is their house, was at.

With a nod, Soma placed the polar bear back in the box where she got it and went on to take over for her father for a few minutes while he talks to her other father.

Tomite smiled, “Soma-chan, your other father is rarely home, isn’t he?”

Soma nodded. “He’s home a few days a month, but he never forgets to send a letter and a gift in every occasion where he can’t make it. On our birthdays, he makes it a point to come home right away. He’s quite dutiful when it comes to traditional occasions too~” she said with a smile. “He works at a resort as a cook, so he can only take days off during lean season of the resort he works at, but still, he’s the best,” she praised.

“That’s right, the yukata that you wore at the last festival was from him, wasn’t it?” Tomite asked, remembering the expensive yukata that was sent to his place by mistake, and had sent it to the Yukihira residence soon after. “You have good parents, Soma-chan,”

Soma nodded. “Yup! I couldn’t be any luckier~!”

“Seriously, a stuffed polar bear with a diamond studded bracelet attached to it for her? You spoil Soma too much, Gin,” Joichiro chided. Despite the brazen attitude of his daughter, she still has a girly side, namely, adoring cute things. “This defeats the purpose of raising her normally.”

Dojima Gin chuckled at the other line, “You’re one to talk. I don’t think having four hundred and eighty-eight cooking matches and concocting ridiculous and gross experimental dishes are considered normal,”

“Four hundred and eighty-nine.” Joichiro corrected. “We just had another one this afternoon.”

“It would be stupid to ask who won.” Gin mused. “By the way, there’s a reason I called at this hour,”

“I hope there is. You usually call home on Fridays. What is it?”

“Has Soma voiced out to you what she plans to do after middle school?”

Joichiro went silent for a moment. “No, not yet. But she seems to be indulged in cooking nowadays…”

“Joichiro, I’ve treated Soma like my own for three years now, and know that I want the best for her too. Isn’t it time for her to go to Totsuki?” he asked. “She has already missed middle school there.”

The other man sighed as he contemplated it. “You know I can’t make that decision for her, but I don’t want her to go there unprepared. Totsuki serves as a rude awakening for ordinary students.”

“But Soma is not ordinary, is she?” Gin countered. “You and I both know that she has limitless potential, just like you have. Just ask her, and I will prepare the necessary procedures if that’s what you’re worried about.”

“Hey Gin, no coattails.” Joichiro warned. “The last thing we want her to think is that she only got in because of you.”

“As if Senzaemon-san would allow it. No, I will just have to let her take the schedule of Erina’s test,”

“Hey, pitting my daughter against God’s Tongue is a bit evil.”

“Not against. Erina is tasked to oversee examinations, not compete with the examinees,” Gin corrected. “She’ll be well taken care of. Someone is offering you to travel again, and maybe it’s time for you to do so while Soma is away,”

“Assuming she passes, then let’s talk,” he negotiated. “I don’t have to leave three days after the examination, but if she fails, I’ll send her to a normal school afterwards.” He bargained.

“It’s a deal then.”

“No. It’s a bet.”

“Fine.” Gin agreed.

But Jouichiro was not done yet. “But you’re going home and you will help me tell her.”

That caught Gin’s curiosity, “Why?”

The other man had to roll his eyes. “This is Soma’s future we are talking about, and you kind of promised that we would drop bombs with her with the two of us present. Don’t escape from this, Mr. Loyal Dog.”

“Alright, Mr. Stray Cat.” Gin replied teasingly.

“High school choices?” Soma asked Kurase during their Home Ec class.

Kurase nodded. “Have you thought of a school to go to, Yukihira-chan?”

Soma hummed as she thought of her future. What did she want to do the most? High school was going to be another academic drawl for three years, but after that, what would she do? She inwardly sighed and smiled. “I’m going to inherit the restaurant of course!” she said gleefully. Of course, that’s what she’s always been talking about ever since she turned three and had inherited her father’s interest in cooking. Now that she was a teenager…she wasn’t really sure about that right now.

“Must be nice, having two dads who are good at cooking like yours,” Koganei sighed. “You’ll be great for sure!”

Soma simply smiled at that, but inside her, she felt different. Sure she loves her dads to bits, but she feels like she doesn’t stand a chance against her parents. She was afraid to admit it, but she was insecure about her cooking skills. With the two of them who could beat her in cooking without breaking a sweat, she was not sure that she could achieve beating them with just being a normal student.

“Then why not try the entrance exams at Totsuki?” another one of Soma’s classmates suggested.

That caught Soma’s attention. “What’s that?”

Her classmate rolled her eyes at her cluelessness. It was no secret that a lot of girls harbored a kind of jealousy towards Soma because of her cooking skills, but they quickly dissipated the moment they got to know the girl who had no interest of using her skills to seduce boys. There was even one time when a playboy had tried to hit on her, and Soma had used him as a guinea pig for her gross food experiments to drive him away. Add to that, her kind but blunt personality had endeared her to younger students and her classmates simply because she was an open book and had no ulterior motives (if it does not involve her experiments).

“Totsuki is the best culinary school in Japan! Getting into that school is pretty hard, but if it’s you, Yukihira-san, you would definitely pass.” She commented.

Soma contemplated the choice. She could go, but then she would be leaving her dad behind at home. Her dad was alone as it is with her father not being present most of the time because of his job at the resort he works at. Then again, he did overhear his parents talking about how her dad was in-demand overseas, had it not been for her whom he was raising at the moment. Maybe trying to go to a boarding school would ease him up on the workload he has to deal with raising her. Maybe.

Looking back at her classmate, she immediately asked, “Where do I go for an application?”

A few days later, Soma was livid as she cleaned the restaurant sign from the white paint that had been thrown at it merely a few hours before and after kicking out the realtor bitch who dared tarnish the restaurant that Soma and her parents had run for years. She hopes the woman would stay away from her before she has the mind to chop and serve her body to cannibals—‘Whoa! Wait! Too much!’ Soma thought as she caught herself with her thoughts. She should have some respect to cannibals.

Sighing, she didn’t hear her parents arrive at the house.

“Had some trouble?”

Soma’s head turned at the voice of her father and saw that indeed, her father was home, though uncharacteristically so. She also noticed that on her parents’ hands were grocery bags, which meant that Gin was more than eager to cook dinner tonight. “Father! Dad, hey.” She said the last part in a normal tone which ticked Jouichiro off at her teasing. She then remembered that she had a paint thinner and a cloth on her hands and a very white restaurant sign. “It was just a little trouble. I set them straight though. Don’t worry, I cleaned up the restaurant while you were gone.” She added, not really inclined to tell them that the restaurant’s interior was trashed under her watch.

Gin chucked at her tirade. “Take a break. Your dad and I want to tell you something.” He said.

“Oh, good. I have something to tell you guys as well.” Soma said as she carefully went down the ladder. “I want to leave.”

It took the two men to process what she said before they reacted. “WHAT?!”

Soma just looked at them as if they were going nuts. “No need to shout. I’m just leaving.” She said as she proceeded to go inside, not really noticing the fact that a lot of ideas were going on inside the heads of her parents.

In their panic, Gin and Jouichiro started to follow her in the house. “What do you mean you want to leave the house?” Jouichiro demanded.

“Exactly my point.” she said as she reached for her bag and rummaged to grab an envelope from it.

“You…you’re not eloping are you?!” Gin asked. The thought of Soma leaving with a guy sent an overprotective streak about him.

“Eloping?! Who’s the boy Soma? I’ll kill him!” Jouichiro said with a growl, having half the mind to kill whoever made Soma decide on leaving.

Soma stared at her parents as if they had grown two heads. “What? No! To begin with, I have no interest of being in a relationship right now! Stop thinking too far!” she chided and handed them the envelope. “This is why I want to leave the house.”

The two were taken aback by her answer, and Gin took the envelope from her and opened it with Jouichiro looming beside him. When he took out the papers inside, the two were surprised to read the content: Totsuki Culinary Academy Entrance Exams Application Form.

“An application form to Totsuki?” the two of them said in unison.

“Yes.” Soma said and grumbled, “Geez, what is going on with you two? Eloping? I fear the things that run in your heads when I’m concerned.” She muttered.

“You took us by surprise!” Jouichiro argued. “Not once had you said anything about wanting to leave the house before.”

Soma inwardly rolled her eyes at her dad and sat down on the nearby stool by the counter. “Well, now I am.”

Gin, ignoring his husband’s tirade, sighed and placed the papers back in the envelope. “Well, this makes things much easier then.”

This earned him a raised brow from the red-head. “Makes things easier how?”

“Your father was considering going back to working overseas for at least three years. We were contemplating for months whether to send you to a boarding school and closing up the restaurant for the time being. It’s surprising you chose the school where we intended to send you.”

Soma was at a shock about this. So her dad was contemplating on going back overseas travelling and working. “Huh? So you two have been planning on how to get me to leave the restaurant these past few months?”

Jouichiro sighed. “Look at it this way, Soma, we’re not trying to get rid of you.” He said gently. “We figured if I was going to go back overseas, you will at least have a place to stay where you can improve your cooking. Besides, if you attend Totsuki, you will have a good chance in beating one of us or both of us in the future.”

Soma seemed to consider the possibility, just to humor her parents. She had already decided on going there to beat the two of them anyway. “Well…if you put it that way, it makes sense…”

“What made you choose Totsuki in the first place, Soma?” Jouichiro wondered. He could have sworn that he had hidden all traces of him ever going to that school until she was old enough, and Gin knew when to shut his mouth, so where did she hear about the school?

“From a classmate of mine. She said that it’s the best cooking school in the country, so, why not. The only problem is the tuition. It’s three times more expensive than public school.” She said with a troubled sigh. “I was going to talk to the two of you to discuss the fees, but now that you two are clearly on board, I don’t have to take a part-time job.”

Sometimes, Soma’s temporary ‘independent mentality’ showing amazes the two men, despite not knowing at first on how to raise a girl when the two of them were men, and this was one of those times. “You thought ahead that much?” Gin asked, quite proud that at least, Soma was not completely impulsive.

“Of course. How else am I going to pay for it?” Soma replied.

“You know that money is no object to us, Soma,” Gin said as he ruffled her hair, something that Soma both loved and disliked at the same time. “I’ll cover for everything that you will need when you pass.” Soma noticed that her father used when and not if which made her believe that the two of them has enough confidence that she would pass the exams.

Jouichiro scoffed, “Maybe because you actually have no idea how to spend it other than your designer suits…” he muttered.

“Hey, that’s an insult to my tailor.” Gin replied playfully.

“You mean the tailor that kept hitting on you every time you meet?” Soma asked and then turned to her dad, “Insult away Dad,”

“You two…” Gin shook his head with a small smile on his face. “Well then, since we’ve established that you will be preparing for the entrance exams at Totsuki, why don’t I get started on dinner now? Jouichiro, you help me out here.”

“Yes~” Jouichiro replied lazily.

Sighing, Soma stood from her seat and made her way outside. “I’ll continue cleaning up the sign then and get cleaned up after,” she said as she ran towards the door with her parents watching.

When they were sure that Soma was no longer within hearing range, both men heaved a sigh of relief.

“I thought for sure she was going to go ballistic. I’m surprised she applied on her own.” Jouichiro muttered as the two of them headed to the kitchen.

Gin nodded in agreement. “Though it is good that she’s now beginning to consider what she wants to do in the future. Her applying on her own accord is a sign of that.”

“We raised her well, didn’t we?” Jouichiro stated.

“We did our best with her.” Gin agreed. “I just hope she would make it through.”

“She’s our daughter, what’s the worry?”

“You may be right.” Gin said as he went upstairs to get changed into his normal clothes to get started on dinner.

Final Comments: At this point, I blanked out. I imagined her forming a somewhat friendship with Erina, albeit riling her up and Hisako being all protective and stuff! I guess for a love interest for Soma, I can see her with some characters like Isshiki, Tsukasa or Akira.

"So we're going to set up a feast, as an way to make a alliances." Headgr nodded his head "Basically.". You been sitting here for 20 or more minutes while Tonna and Headgr bickered of subject then finally got to the point of this private meeting."We'll also invite Evior and Soma as an apology for your crude behavior." Tonna rolled her eyes and muttered "If I don't get my head chopped off first.". Headgr grabbed a dagger pointing it at the map "Then there's a better reason to why we need to fix our repetition before things get worse. And you..." He pointed the dagger at you "You will have to earn your keep Ms.(Y/N), you can't just continue eating our food without earning. And don't worry you will be paid too for your work.". You perked up at this news " When can I start!?" Tonna smiled a bit at your excitement "Looks like our Raven is a Hard worker and a excited one at that." After a while Tonna assorted that you could work with the livestock and the pantry. All you had to do was to make sure that the animals were taken care of and document the pantry stock, to make sure they had enough food for the winter. That was easy enough. You were sent to the stables and pantry/kitchen to be introduced to your environment and then instructed on what to do. Tonna and Headgr where left behind to work on the party plans.

After awhile Tonna and Headgr started to assign roles to the people and explained what the event was for "It's of the upmost importance that this peace offer feast go's smoothly!" Headgr made sure to make his point evident to everyone in the crowd. "And make sure you're on your best behaviors, and treat our guests well!". Tonna's voice bellowed across the field of people, and Headgr gave a impressed look at the usually humorous deger was capable of not cracking a joke for once. Everyone knew their place and started to work on the party. Later in the day people started to slow down and call it day and turned in for the night. This meant you too, but you didn't really know if you were still welcomed in Tonna's cabin. Just because she let you sleep in her home when you were passed out, doesn't mean she'll let you in now. Tonna spotted your upset face and gave you a hard pay on your back "What's wrong little Raven?" you were shocked at the sudden weight on your back, then turned away a little at the question. "Well I don't know where I'm going to sleep or stay, I can't just continue sleeping at your cabin." she gave you a small amused smile and laughed a bit "Well why not!? I quit enjoy your company and it's doesn't hurt that you are pretty and exotic." you flinched at the word 'exotic' , but other wise was excited at the fact you could stay at her place. "Really!?" Tonna couldn't help but to feel endeared by your glowing expression of excitement "Of course.". She lent out hand and guided you to her cabin.

Authors Note: I'm still pretty unsure about continuing pass the prewritten chapters, I may just continue because the one person that really seems to like this fic.

About Joseon!Demon Slayer AU

The setting of this Demon Slayer AU is in Joseon Dynasty, Korean dynastic kingdom that lasted for over five centuries. It was the last dynastic kingdom of Korea. Founded by Yi Seong-gye in July 1392, and replaced by the Korean Empire in October 1897. So in this AU, it is around mid 1400s of Joseon Dynasty (15th Century). And yes, ALL characters’ name will be in Korean. Because of its society and diffrences from original, there are couple of characters gender-bent and some Headcanons involved. And maybe few OCs.

This AU will have more informations of beginning of Joseon Dynasty’s cultures, its influences by Buddhism and Confucianism, Korean Folk religion, each demon based on Korean folktale monsters/spirits/demons. There are mentions of other dynasties before Joseon.

SOULMATE AU ALPHABET

b…ody art (doodles that a person draws on themselves appear on their soulmate’s skin).

When a small scribble of a lotus flower appears on the inside of your wrist, your heart skips a beat. You know what it means ― your soulmate is drawing on their skin, and finally you might be able to figure out who they are.

The next thing that shows up on your skin is a scrawling of words beneath the lotus, but… it’s in a language you don’t recognize. None of your usual coworkers can parse it, so you pay a visit to one of your business associates, Ciel. (He’s got a couple of hearts on his face today, probably a sweet reminder from his own fiancée.) Funnily enough, he’s not the one who helps you; he can’t read it, even though he says it looks like some kind of Indian dialect.

It’s actually his butler who offers more specific advice. Sebastian tells you that it looks like Hindi to him, and suggests that you might try asking his friend Agni, who’s currently staying in Ciel’s townhouse with his master, Prince SOMA.

Off you go on the next leg of your journey, and at the townhouse the door is answered by a tall, smiling Indian man in a turban who asks what he can do for you. After confirming that this is Agni, you shyly display your wrist in his direction with both the lotus and the words in full view.

“I’m so sorry if I’m bothering you or being presumptuous,” you say, “but Mr. Sebastian told me this might be Hindi. Would it be too much trouble for you to translate it for me if it is?”

The thought of him possibly ending up as your soulmate crossed your mind when Sebastian mentioned him. Although he and Soma surely can’t be the only Indians here in London, they’re the only two who are vaguely in your circle of acquaintances.

As it stands, you’ve never met either of them before, so your soulmate could just as easily be someone else you’ve never met… perhaps they’re even still in India!

Practically the second he sees the miniature picture and words, his eyes go wide. His smile doesn’t disappear, though, and he quickly ushers you inside. “Here, stay a moment… I think my prince can help you much more than I can.”

“Oh, ah… of course.” Although that’s strange, you take a seat where he directs you to, and you wait anxiously.

You can’t get too lost in thought, because just a moment later there are clamoring footsteps coming down the stairs. “He bhagavaan, is this real life?!”

The man you’re faced with is within a few years of your age, maybe a bit younger, with a shockingly violet shade of hair tied up in a messy ponytail. And his eyes, those eyes, it’s like his creator poured golden sunshine right into them.

… And sunshine right into his smile, too. His face is so bright, you’re surprised the townhouse even needs lamps. Couldn’t he just light the rooms himself by smiling?

Agni is right behind him, clearly attempting to get the other man under some kind of control even though he’s smiling himself. “Lady (Name), please, meet my lord, Prince Soma Asman Kadar. Will you show him what you showed me?”

“Oh, ah… yes, yes.” You hold your wrist out almost like an offering, so that he can see everything which came into existence on your skin. “I’m sorry, is it difficult to read? Is that why Mr. Agni needed your help?”

Soma laughs, and moves to roll up his own sleeve. “Yes, I’m the only one who can read my own writing! It’s ― what do you say it like in English? ‘Chicken scratch’? Look!”

As soon as your eyes make contact with his wrist, you feel almost like they’re going to fall right out of your head. Right there on his gorgeous skin is black ink, just like what appeared on yours… a drawing of a lotus, and a scribbling of some words.

You’re so stunned, you can’t do anything but hold on when Soma grabs you and twirls you around. His excitement is endearing and you’re not sure you would stop him if you were thinking straight right now. “It’s you!” he laughs. “It’s you, it’s you, it’s you!! This is the moment I’ve been waiting for my whole life, when I finally meet my princess!”

“O-oh… oh, my!” You can’t help but giggle right along with him, keeping yourself as close as you possibly can. He’s so… adorable. His happiness is infectious, in part because you’ve been waiting quite a while for this, too.

“I should have drawn more!” A grin splits his face instead of the simple smile he was sporting, his hand grasping at your wrist. “Don’t worry, don’t worry! When I wash this off in the bath, I’ll make sure to draw something else so you’ll know I’m wishing you goodnight. What’s your favorite flower? I’ll draw it right on my arm!”

Without much more fanfare, Agni gently waves the two of you off up the staircase, saying you should go talk while he gets some snacks. Of course, this seems to agree rather well with Soma, who tugs you on up the stairs enthusiastically.

“Come on! My room is very relaxing, and Agni is the best cook. We’ll have such a great afternoon getting to know each other!”

You had no other obligations anyway, and if you did, you’d be canceling them. This is much more important; you’ve met the person you’re going to spend the rest of your life with, and you desperately want to learn everything you can about him.

So you allow him to pull you along, though you do pause at the top of the stairs. “O-oh, Soma! Soma, by the way, this thing you wrote… it’s Hindi, then, isn’t it? What does it say?”

“Ah…” He takes your arm again, putting it side by side with his. With a fingertip he points at each word. (Amusingly, he seems to say it haltingly, as if even he has to decipher his own penmanship.)

“Here, it says… ‘Once upon a time’.” His face colors slightly, a blush standing out just a little against the sienna hue of his cheeks. “I’m not sure where I was going with that, actually, but… it makes a cute story to tell people!”

Well, he’s certainly not wrong about that.

Maybe you’ll have to doodle him a little picture and message later, too.

Supernatural au:

Ciel has sickle-cell anemia. (I’m doing so much research for this! lol)

There will be a lot of flashbacks that have Vincent and Cedric (Undertaker) in them as well as the twins and Seb as kids.

Sieglinde Sullivan is a few hundreds of years old, she practices modern medicine as well as witch craft.

Sebastian has no memory of his life before he ran into Vincent & Cedric, he is about 8 years old when they find him.

Their (Seb & Ciel’s) pimp is Claude, who goes by ‘Spider.’

All the prostitutes live together in a run down apartment building with Claude.

Ciel is on the short side for a guy, loud and outgoing, total sweetheart to Sabrina.

I like the idea of maybe them being in a metal/rock band...for which au I don’t know. I’d like for the Circus au to have a lot of ‘human oddities’ and maybe both Sebastian and Ciel could have something interesting about them.

Of course I’m still steadily working on Revamp au which has Trans man!Ciel, drag queens, burlesque dancers, and lots of LGBT+ shenanigans. (This story really means a lot to me, I have the most work done on it. The first 4 chapters and a drabble are both posted on my AO3)

the warmth of the moment kindled between you and kazutora had been punctured and doused with the creak of the metal door you stood beside, as chifuyu’s figure slipped through.

“kazutora?” he asked, crossing his arms.

with a blush still tinting his cheeks, kazutora looked back to chifuyu with innocence painted in his eyes.

“need you back now” chifuyu muttered, as the door closed behind him.

whether chifuyu had been behind the door the whole time, or whether he had just slipped through was beyond you, but you could tell there was a hint of something different in his voice— something almost edgy. he spoke with a sharpness that caught you off guard, and one that made kazutora’s posture stiffen as if he knew he were in trouble. and when the door shut behind him, kazutora heaved a sigh and leaned back against the wall the way he had when you first arrived.

“I should be heading out anyways” you rubbed the back of your neck, voice nonchalant and almost cold as you bit down on the inside of your lip, hoping kazutora wouldn’t notice the nerves that had settled in your bones. “I hope I didn’t take too much away from your break or anything”

kazutora barely recognized this version of you. he barely recognized the softness of your voice— the lack of a smirk on your lips, and the receded confidence that you had seemed to set aside in this foreign environment. a surge of emotion he couldn’t quite put his finger on rushed through his veins— one that felt exciting, yet unnerved all the same and he couldn’t tell if it was a good feeling, or a bad one. but kazutora kept his sweetened smile on his lips as the inklings of a desperate desire to make you happy and warm made his chest ache. the person that stood before him was so different to the person who wrapped him in blankets of pleasure and safety in the observatory, and he wanted that version back. he wanted nothing more than to make you comfortable— to make this alley, or even the shop, a home for you. kazutora wanted nothing more than to bring you the warmth that he so desperately lacked in his life. one he knew you so easily draped over his conscience each time you stepped in the room.

“I-” he stuttered, stopping on his words as you pulled the door open and stepped halfway inside. “I’m glad you came by”

kazutora had a funny way of making your cheeks ignite with warmth with nearly every word that came out of his mouth. even the way his hair looked tied back into a messy bun made your heart flutter, and you hated every second of it. you hated the way he made you feel giddy, or the way he stuck around in your mind like glue that no matter how hard you scraped, just wouldn’t come off. these thoughts twisted in your mind the way your core twisted at the thought of going home to an empty dorm, left in your thoughts until the cycle repeated. ‘home’ had never been such a daunting thought before, and you dwelled on the ache in your chest as the doorbell of the shop dinged with your departure, and you set off back to the void of your room.

“so that was her?” chifuyu asked, leaning over the counter as kazutora adjusted his apron and sipped at the coffee you had brought with both hands clasping the cup.

kazutora nodded, avoiding chifuyu’s gaze that pierced his stature. “yeah” was all he said, spoken with a breath that made it hard for even chifuyu to hear.

there was something about the way kazutora carried himself around you, and the way he shrivelled at any mention of your name that made chifuyu’s brain tick. and he couldn’t quite decode it, either. after years of hating everything to do with kazutora, years of hearing second hand stories about him, years of feeling his heart shatter at every mention of his name, chifuyu had finally come to a place where his heart had space only for his love and protection of the boy he once despised. now, chifuyu wanted nothing more than to see kazutora succeed, and he would do nearly anything to see it happen.

when kazutora had first approached him with the idea of going to college, chifuyu had nearly laughed. he had let his prejudice get in the way of his judgement as he grilled his roommate for hours trying to pick apart his reasoning. that was the first time that chifuyu had truly recognized the emotions he held for kazutora. what he, and kazutora too, had assumed was ridicule, had really just been a fear of watching him fail. in chifuyu’s mind, if he could keep kazutora under his wing, living under his roof, and working by his side, nothing more could burden his shoulders the way the weight of his life and his mistakes already had. after he had taken him in, chifuyu had watched day in and day night the way kazutora would recede into an empty shell of guilt, desperate to serve the punishment for his betrayal. he watched as kazutora slowly began to accept the path of his life, and the love that blossomed in chifuyu’s heart.

but now, that very love was being challenged, and by a stranger, nonetheless. it irked him to listen to kazutora’s every mention of your name— to watch the way his face lit up with a cheerful animation as he rambled and rambled about your project, and the way you made him laugh over the silliest things. chifuyu had never seen kazutora so cheerful— so filled with purpose— and it made his temples throb and his throat tighten with the thought that he would never fill the role that you already had, and so easily too.

yet all the same, chifuyu was grateful. it was the acceptance, that was hard, but in the back of his mind and buried deep within his soul, chifuyu knew he could never fit every box that kazutora needed to heal. he was thankful for you— he held no resentment in the depth of his emotions, but even still, the frustration was something he knew would never truly heal.

these were the thoughts that pushed at chifuyu’s mind as kazutora wandered aimlessly through the shop’s floor, straightening toys and collars that had fallen out of place, wiping a counter here and there, anything to fill the empty space that lingered in the air as chifuyu drowned himself in his mind.

“s-sorry for being so long” kazutora’s voice pulled chifuyu from his daze, forcing him back to reality as he watched kazutora shrink into the wall of cages. “I didn’t realize you needed help”

chifuyu shook his head— a pinched attempt to come up with an excuse for his actions. in all reality, he had no reason. the shop was almost closed, and everything that needed to be done had already been checked off the list. instead, it was the thought of losing his best friend to someone new— someone that didn’t know kazutora the way he did— someone that couldn’t love the dirty and broken pieces that chifuyu did if they didn’t know. it made his fingers and bones ache, every passing minute you spent together behind closed doors pushed you one step closer to kazutora’s heart, and chifuyu could stand it no longer and his body had moved on autopilot as he broke the time between you.

“can I ask you somethin” chifuyu murmured, head down as he put his weight on the counter. kazutora only nodded, swallowing his anxiety as he waited for chifuyu to continue. “does she know? about you?”

kazutora hadn’t thought this far, and his body felt frozen with an icy chill as chifuyu’s question forced him to reconcile with himself, and reality too. six words was all it took to bring back the whirlpool of emotions that barricaded his mind that day you came to class late. six words was all kazutora needed to remind himself of how unworthy he was of this domestic life— how unworthy he was of your kindness and affection, your vulnerable moments, your desire to watch him crumble with pleasure in your touch, your time, your money, your everything. unworthy. it was all he could reduce himself to, pressed against glass cages with kittens that dozed with a tranquillity he could only dream of one day feeling. he was tongue tied and he struggled to find the words— such a simple answer and yet he stuttered and stopped before his body allowed him to submit to the reality.

“no” was all he could say as his eyes darkened and his shoulders sank.

the guilt that was harboured in chifuyu’s soul fought with the possessiveness that dwelled in his mind. they clashed and ripped at each other, until neither remained stable or strong. what was left, was a melting pot of emotions he couldn’t decipher— emotions he wished he could shell away and replace with a faux kind of cheer that would restore the peace between them

“are you going to?” he asked, resorting himself to accepting that it was never something he could truly understand or cope with. “I don’t want you to get hurt, kazutora”

hurt. the word stung kazutora just as much as it’s meaning. maybe he deserved to get hurt. maybe he deserved to trick himself into believing that he was someone worth loving— someone who could love back, and be happy, together. maybe he deserved to let himself wallow in a joy that he knew was temporary. he deserved to be hurt more than anyone else. but did you?

“I don’t know” was all kazutora could muster— his voice weak and hollow.

chifuyu didn’t know what to say next. he didn’t want to pass judgement on your character and plant the seeds of doubt in kazutora’s mind so early on, but he couldn’t shake the emotions that tainted his reasoning— that gut feeling that made him crumble from the inside out. it was times like these that chifuyu wished he could just turn his emotions off, so he could live and bask in a moment of peace in tune with reality untinted by his turmoil.

“is that fair?” chifuyu held back tears he didn’t understand. “it’s not fair to you, is it? it’s not fair to just sit back and sabotage yourself like this again. it’s not. you’re going to get hurt and I can’t watch it. I can’t watch you hurt yourself again kazutora” his hands gripped the edge of the counter as he spoke— head dipped as strands of black hair shaded the pain in his eyes.

kazutora felt his chest tighten with feelings he didn’t understand. tears welled in his eyes as his lip trembled and he wished he could just disappear into the wall for good. in his mind, he deserved everything chifuyu had dreaded, and more, but he knew that if those words slipped from his lips, that he would be forever coddled and sheltered from the life he wanted to bask in for just a little while longer.

“I’m sorry” chifuyu continued, finally lifting his head as he watched the tears drip down kazutora’s cheek. he, better than anyone else, knew the depths of kazutora’s pain, and the last thing he wanted was to be the source himself. “I’m sorry” he repeated, this time shaking his head. “I want to see you happy, kazutora. I want you to be happy”

kazutora nodded, his eyes glued to the floor as he choked on his words. “I know”

he wanted to close his eyes and sleep, to take shelter in his pain and betray his tears. he didn’t want to be all by himself as he always had— he didn’t want to let you go, wrap his hurt in you. he knew that chifuyu wanted to see him succeed— he knew it beyond the words that he spoke into the air. but kazutora also knew, that this time, there was no running away.

“it’ll be okay” he whispered, fulfilling a promise made of tin.

After washing off the mud She soon realized that the girl wasn't from here, her brown skin was a rarity here. Tonna herself hasn't really met many people that looked like this girl except for a few merchants she made deals with. She was told that they came from far away land, often bringing gold, gems, and beautiful clothing from far away, maybe the girl was a merchant who got the wrong end of the deal. The next morning Tonna and her men packed up the camp and started their way home. Tonna couldn't help but notice when they were packing, her men would constantly stare at the unconscious girl, even stopping while packing to get a good steering before Tonna had to bark at them to do their job, even now while riding horses they were trying to ride up on their leader's horse they get a peek of the sleeping girl that was between Tonna's muscular arms.

Later that day they made it back home, Tonna gave her horse to one of the stable boys and made her way to her sleeping quarters. Thankfully she was able to walk to her home without a crowd, it was a little in the afternoon so people wouldn't be too hasty to come meet her because they were busy with their work and the preparation of the celebration feast. "There you go." Tonna whispered as she laid the girl down, seeing the girls sleeping sweetly in her bed like a small child, brought small smile Tonna she tiptoed quietly shutting the door softly.
