So, Waylon adopts Danny.
•—•~•—•Crocodile Dad•—•~•—•
Waylon wasn’t quite sure how he acquired a kid.
In fact, Waylon doesn’t even think he had actually chose himself to keep him. Instead he thinks that this kid chose him.
Right now, the small and skinny black-haired boy who’d inserted himself into his life was sat at the table his weapon’s engineer used to work. Tinkering at the bits and pieces scattered over the messy surface while Waylon himself hovered nearby.
“Are you sure that’s safe for you to be messing with kiddo?” The large, scaled man called to the boy, a hint of concern peeking through the southern twang in his accent. Elongating is ‘O’s and ‘E’s and ‘A’s.
“Yeah, it’s fine, I used to work on my parents experiments in their lab all the time,” The boy called back, and— unironically— it didn’t soothe his anxiety.
“That don’t make me feel any better squirt.”
“Well? Too bad.” This twig was going to be the cause of all Waylon’s fictitious gray hairs, he was calling it now.
Instead of lecturing the kid on safety, Waylon simply ruffled his hair with his large, clawed hands and left him to his devices.

What is DC’s plan with all of the Waylon and Jason parallels…
Their last acts being spent saving a maternal figure

Being “reborn”

kindness being repaid in blood

(For context the cop had recently killed the man to prevent him from turning other dirty cops in)
#This is why I think looking at Waylon’s character arc is a key to learning what to do with Jason#This is why I say Waylon is his uncle!!! He should be his current father figure/mentor tht leads him back#AND THEY BOTH GAIN A NEW SENSE OF HUMANITYYYYY#My agenda will never end#Jason…#jason todd#waylon jones#killer croc#batman#dcu#dc comics

Hero/villain batfamily swap AU
Okay so I really wanna infodump about my au that I've recently made, which puts the batfamily in the Gotham Rogues' places. I haven't thought through all of them yet, and I haven't accounted for all the batfamily (i.e. Kate Kane, Luke Fox, etc), but this is what I have
The Rogues
Bruce- The Penguin
Dick- Two-Face
Tim- The Joker
Stephanie- Black Mask
Damian- the Demons Head/Ra's Al Ghul
Barbara- The Riddler
Duke- Mr. Freeze
Cass- Lady Shiva?
The Heroes/good guys
Jason- Batman
Nightwing/Robin I- Jacob 'Jake' Grayson
Red Hood/Robin II- Thomas Grayson
Raven/Robin III- Jonathan Crane
Spoiler/Robin IV- [name] Brown (she hasn't been named yet, but she's Stephanie's daughter!)
Robin V- William Todd
Black Bat- Rose Wilson
The Signal- TBD (feel free to suggest ideas)
Seer- James Gordon Jr.
Harvey Dent
Edward Nygma
Jack Napier
Oswald Cobblepot
Waylon Jones
Jervis Tetch
Basil Karlo
Admittedly, the ones I've thought through the most are Dick, Jason, Tim and Damian. Some characters i haven't thought much about at all or I have an idea of what I want them to be (like Harvey having a role similar to Jim Gordon, or maybe Edward works with Lucius?).
BUT- this is an au where an outside force fucked with the timeline (haven't decided who/what or how) and, after regaining their past timeline memories, the batfamily (now Rogues... except for Jason lol) have to work together to figure out how to fix the timeline. The problem being their current states make that task much harder than it'd usually be, especially with their current history with each other, even despite their memories returning. So there's a whole slew of issues, not just internal, but with each other and dealing with heroes. And they have... very complicated histories with each other.
I'll explain a few of them under the cut :)
Dick Grayson aka Two-Face
What differs in this AU is that Dick is, of course, never taken in by Bruce and is instead passed around from abusive foster home to abusive foster home in Gotham. Thanks to a mix of the circus having been not a safe place and the abuse he endures in foster care, Dick develops DID, BPD and OCD from the trauma. He grows up with a close friend in Jason Todd, and while they separate for a while (Jason going to train to become Batman, Dick going into law school), they come back together as adults.
Dick becomes a lawyer because Tony Zucco had used legal loopholes to get out of facing the consequences of murdering the Flying Graysons, and Dick fully intended on trying to fix the legal system in some way and to try to prevent something like that from happening to others. At some point, Dick ends up having 2 sons, Jake and Thomas, who are 8 and 3 respectively when Dick eventually becomes Two-Face.
Since he's very close to Jason, he's actually aware that Jason is Batman. When Dick gets more unsatisfied with the justice system, he joins Jason in crime fighting as the vigilante Robin. Unbeknownst to both of them, Two-Face (not yet called that, but i haven't thought of a name yet lol) is not only unsatisfied with the justice system, but also how Jason and Dick fight crime. (Two-Face believes in the anti-hero kind of lethal justice. No, he's not 'evil')
One day, I imagine something happens and Dick, in his civilian form, tries to defend someone from someone else, but the fight results in the attacker slamming a glass container full of acid into Dicks face. This is obviously deeply traumatizing, and not only that, it solidifies Two-Faces belief that vigilantes should adopt a more lethal form of justice.
This is, obviously, how they become Two-Face :) they're deemed too mentally unstable to care for their two sons, so Jason is the person who takes them in and cares for them.
Jason Todd aka Batman
Honestly, I haven't considered exactly how he gets the idea of becoming Batman, but I'm considering that the catalyst is similar; he witnesses his father's murder. Essentially Willis got on the bad side of some mob boss and gets killed in front of Jason and Catherine. Eventually, after that, Catherine succumbs to a drug overdose.
Jason grows up close to Dick, with them supporting each other throughout their childhoods and helping each other escape foster care. Eventually Jason comes under the care of Oswald Cobblepot (who is the surprisingly kind but tough CEO of Cobblepot Industries) after attempting to steal the CEOs tires. Through him, he gets into training, and he supports Dicks lawyer endeavors financially.
After he comes back from all of his training, he refamiliarizes himself with Gotham and then becomes Batman. There's a lot of stuff he's way more lax about than Bruce is, like killing or temporarily working with criminals if it yields better results, but he still has his limits.
Jason also has his own Robins, but his relationship with them is far more healthy.
Tim Drake aka The Joker
Tim wasn't actually all that unique prior to becoming the Joker. He grew up in and out of boarding school with somewhat absent parents, in a middle class then upper class household. Tim became a photographer and journalist as an adult.
How he became the Joker is simple: he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Because of who he was, he was framed, and dropped into a vat of acid.
What came out just... isn't Tim Drake anymore.
Misc.
This is essentially what I have for the others that I haven't fully figured out yet:
-Duke becomes Mr. Freeze not long after his parents are hit by a lethal form of Joker Venom. He keeps them frozen so that they stay alive while he tries to search for a cure.
-Barbara becomes the Riddler not long after Jim Gordon dies. There's a bunch of stuff that causes her to go villain mode, but her father dying is the catalyst, or the straw that broke the camels back so to speak.
-Damian is not centuries old like Ra's is, but he is on the older side (50s? Maybe older?). Really, a lot of characters are aged up lol. He is still related to Bruce and Talia. He has kids too! William (<- placeholder name, I'm having trouble naming him, I might give him a name that reflects his heritage. He's gone through several iterations already LOL) Todd is his grandson.
-Edward Nygma works under Lucius Fox and helps make things for Jason! He also totally makes escape rooms on the side. Cringefail malewife vibes, as he should always have
-Harvey Dent has a role similar to commissioner Gordon, though I'm debating if he's actually a police commissioner or a Private Investigator.
-James Gordon Jr. Is Seer, and i imagine part of the reason he became a vigilante was to prove people's assumptions of him wrong. He's physically disabled (not sure how yet, but he uses forearm crutches) and is diagnosed with ASPD. He works as a hero both in the streets and behind a screen. I'm not sure yet what kind of day job he has tbh.

FINAL CHARACTER SUMMARY. P5!
Relationships, Cont:
(Task Force X) The Suicide Squad:
Amanda Waller
Relationship: Transactional Authority
Dynamics: As the head of the Suicide Squad, Amanda Waller represents a complicated authority figure for Lois. Waller sees Lois as a weapon with immense potential but views her primarily as a tool to be used for missions. Lois respects Waller’s power but remains cautious and wary of her ruthless methods. This leads to a tension-filled relationship where Lois respects Waller’s capabilities but resents her manipulating nature.
Harley Quinn
Relationship: Sibling-Like Bond
Dynamics: Harley’s unpredictable and chaotic personality often clashes with Lois’s calmer demeanor. However, Lois found comfort in Harley’s joyfulness and ingenuity, viewing her as an older sister figure. They bond over shared trauma and the experience of feeling like outsiders in their worlds. Harley encourages Lois to embrace her quirks and express herself more freely, helping her open up despite her trust issues.
Deadshot (Floyd Lawton)
Relationship: Mentor/Father Figure
Dynamics: Deadshot brought a more grounded perspective to Lois’s chaotic life. As a skilled marksman who struggles with his own demons, he served as a mentor, teaching her how to aim and use weapons effectively. Deadshot, hardened by his past, developed a protective, fatherly instinct toward Lois. He appreciates her competence and often guides her in strategic thinking during missions. He admires her potential and resilience, while Lois respects his dedication to his daughter, which allowed her to see a more parental side to him. Their relationship is supportive, with Deadshot offering guidance in the missions while encouraging Lois to pursue her own moral compass.
Killer Croc (Waylon Jones)
Relationship: Protective Ally
Dynamics: Lois quickly realizes that Killer Croc is an underestimated and misunderstood member of the Squad. She appreciates his loyalty and is respectful to him due to their shared experiences of being seen as societal outcasts. Croc, in turn, feels a protective instinct towards her, often watching her
back during operations. Their relationship is built on mutual respect; they resonate with each other’s struggles, making for a reluctant friendship amidst the madness of their missions.
Captain Boomerang (George "Digger" Harkness)
Relationship: Antagonistic & Comic
Dynamics: Captain Boomerang’s cocky demeanor and tendency to joke at others’ expense initially rubbed Lois the wrong way. However, Lois often surprised him with her quick wit and intelligence, which gained her reluctant respect from Digger. Their interactions involved light-hearted banter, and while they would butt heads due to their differing approaches to problem-solving, they learned to rely on each other's strengths during missions, forming an uneasy camaraderie.
Enchantress (June Moone)
Relationship: Source of Unease
Dynamics: Enchantress’s unpredictable magical abilities put Lois on edge, as her experiences have taught her to be cautious around powerful and volatile figures. Lois respects June as a teammate but harbors a latent fear of the Enchantress’s darker side. Their relationship is characterized by a sense of mutual understanding, yet Lois often keeps her distance, choosing to observe rather than interact deeply due to the instability Enchantress carries.
El Diablo (Chato Santana)
Relationship: Confidant and Kindred Spirit
Dynamics: Both characters have significant past traumas that shape their current identities. Lois found solace in Diablo’s experiences of redemption and personal struggle. They would often share heartfelt conversations reflecting their feelings about their powers and past actions. Lois admired Diablo’s transformation and sees him as a positive influence, encouraging her to turn her powers toward good. She was deeply upset by his later death.
8. Katana (Tatsu Yamashiro)
Relationship Type: Mentor-Protege & Friend
Dynamics: Katana’s disciplined and honorable approach to combat intrigued Lois. As someone who has experienced violence and manipulation, Lois admired Katana’s strength and integrity. Katana acted as a mentor figure, teaching Lois combat skills and the importance of honor. Their relationship thus became a blend of respect and friendship, helping Lois navigate her insecurities and trust issues.
9. Rick Flag
Relationship: Leader/Respected Authority
Summary: Rick Flag, as the field leader, embodies a sense of moral responsibility that attracts Lois’s respect. He often tries to ensure that the Squad operates with purpose, knowing Lois's history and potential as a force for good. Their relationship included mentorship moments where Flag encourages Lois to embrace her hero identity. However, Lois’s reluctance to engage deeply limited their interactions to a respectful but somewhat detached dynamic.

Fuck it.
✨ Selina Kyle Headcanon Time ✨
Selina freckles from her father's side of the family that come out with the sun, but thanks to Gotham's shitty weather they are rarely seen.
She has two solutions to any crisis: adopt a cat or leave the country.
She met Waylon Jones during her second year as Catwoman after getting lost in the sewer system when escaping the cops. He showed the way out and she repayed him by making Batman chase her in the opposite direction of his lair whenever they both go under.
The only person she truly fears is her Cuban grandmother. One of her main reasons for keeping Catwoman a secret is avoiding the disapproving glare that could her resolve in a second.
She often wears anime outfits to important meetings like Meio's purple suit or Rei's chanel look just to see if anyone would call her out on it.
Adores dancing and knows every style imaginable. The only one she hates ironically enough it Irish step dancing. She keeps kicking herself at the ass by accident cause she has a hard time controlling her kicks.
As a teen, she used to punch herself in the face every time she felt herself tear up. Somehow it worked on keeping them in.
While she isn't a completely mother figure type, she does let Robins crash at her place whenever they get into a fight with Batman. She refuses to admit she likes them around and excuses that is that she just uses that chance to hear embarrassing stories about the big bad bat.
Selina despises Harley for adopting the hyenas. It's dangerous to keep wild animals as pets, both for the owner and the animals and the way she handles them is abysmal. She immediately sent them to a wild animal rehab facility the first time Harley was stayed in Arkham for more than a week.
She can mimic any animal sound from years of verbal steaming and vocal practice. She can even mimic other humans fairly well, though she struggles with the deeper monotones.
She has thick and healthy black hair from her mother and often styles it like a lion's mane.
She has undiagnosed ADHD but learned to mask it well.
Despite enjoying to travel and running away from emotional vulnerability, Selina could never stay away from Gotham for too long. It's like a siren's call at this point. She can't imagine having a different home.

Yoooo do you have a post somewhere about your Gotham sona's info?
I have an official post on my RP blog but I can put it here! (I'm debating on removing the tattoos on the ref sheet tbh, but I'm not sure yet X'D)
Name: Sona Bean Xueen
Height: 5'0
Weight: 200lbs
Blood Type: B+
Education: Associates Degree
Which Batman Verse is she from?
My own universe called "Death's Child" I take a mixture of my favorite versions of Batman villains, and heroes and mix them.
Relationships:
Victor Zsasz (Sexual and Romantic)
Edward Nygma (Sexual and Romantic)
Jonathan Crane (Romantic)
Oswald Cobblepot (Friend)
Harley Quinn (Friend)
Waylon Jones (Friend)
Jervis Tetch (Friend)
Harvey Dent (Friend)
Victor Fries (Familial)
Pamela Isley (Friend)
Jim Gordon (Very rocky friendship; He would jail her if given the chance.)
Background:
Sona grew up in normal comfort for the first ten years of her life. The daughter of a low tier mafia henchmen, who ran a red light district building by the name of the "Bucking Bronco" where anyone could get their rocks off for the night, for a price. Her father was a man by the name of Jeorge King.
She was spoiled rotten, but never seemed to quite understand that she was. Clothes, toys, treats, and the like were given to her freely, even by men and women her father worked with. She was happy.
However, one day it all changed. She became ill.
Everyone at birth is scanned in this universe. When you are, it's determined what insurances will cover you, what surgery will be allowed to you, and how expensive treatment costs would be. Sona had contracted an easily curable illness, however her scans at birth showed that she stood a 5% chance of contracting said illness. Treatment was expensive, her father's insurance wouldn't cover the cost, and he began to seek out ways to get money to cover it.
This was the first step into a dark era.
Her father began stealing money behind his boss's back, trying to hit up places that wasn't on the list, and even began selling drugs and illegal weaponry to rival gangs.
One night when Sona was asleep, she awoke to gunshots in her living room. Scared the, now thirteen year old, girl walked down the hall and into the room to see three men in black over her fathers body, a bullet through his head. She held in her scream, her voice a whimper between her fingers. But their ears were sharp, and their voices like venom.
"Hey there little girl," one purred, advancing on the young girl who could only cry, "It's okay... I'm not gonna hurt you... okay well, that's a lie... you see your father's been very, very naughty~ Which means you have just as much to pay for as he does, you know? No hard feelings~"
That night the screams that ebbed from her lips were muffled by the rough assault of her intruders. It ended with a bullet to her gut, in hopes she would suffer as a final 'fuck you' to the King line.
As she lay in a mess of blood, sweat and tears, she choked back her whimpers. It wasn't fair. None of it was fair!
She got up, shaking on her hands and knees, crawling over to her father's corpse. She shook him, desperately trying to wake him, but to no avail. She shook harder.
"Please! Please.... dad, wake up! Please.... I... I need you... I can't.... I can't breath..." she felt blood in the back of her throat, but she refused to die. She had to live. She had to!
The memory is a blur, but that day she was rescued by a young man. A police officer of all things. Peter Gordon. She was alone. She had a decent amount of wealth left behind by her father, an inheritance of sorts. she had to change her name. Leave the old behind. They'd find her if she didn't. So she changed her name to Xueen.
It took six months to repair the damage. She was told she would never be able to have children, but it didn't seem to phase her. She didn't care about starting a family. To hell with what little future she had left. What she craved was revenge.
Revenge came on her 16th birthday. After a few years of underground training, paying hired guns to teach her to use high caliber weapons, and pistols, she finally shot her shot. The men that raided her family home and murdered her father died at her hands. She shot out their knees, broke elbows with sledge hammers, gutted one and slung his entrails over another, she pulled eyes from their sockets, used adrenaline to keep them alive for 48 hours. When the screams finally faded, she sobbed. She finally killed the people that murdered her father.
She had no purpose. She was still going to die. It was just a matter of how long it would take until she died.
But a thought occurred. Those three were just following orders. They were just pawns on a much larger board. There was still a king to overthrow. Her hands clenched into fists, and a snarl laced her lips. There was more to do. She had nothing to lose. Death was already at her doorstep, might as well greet him with an open hand.
She no longer feared death.
Sona invested in stocks which only served to increase her wealth, but by this point her illness had progressed to the point of no recovery. If she'd just gotten the treatment as a child, it wouldn't have progressed this far. She was eighteen.
She hired her own group of thugs, her own gang beginning to form. But they weren't quite up to snuff. She needed someone with more experience in killing... someone who wouldn't hesitate. Someone who would be loyal, and follow her every command. She was getting sicker. She needed someone to be her weapon when she was unable to lift one herself.
A few weeks later she hears of a serial killer. Very proficient. Very lethal. He's taken out a few of her men already, so she dared to see just whom this man was.
And it was then she came face to face with the mass murderer himself. A man decorated in scars along his arms and chest, a sadistic smile trailing over his lips. His eyes had a murderous lust to them, but she could only smile back. He was perfect.
"Hello there, my name is Sona Xueen. Did you know you've been causing me a lot of trouble lately?" she hummed, resting a hand on her chin.
The man advanced slowly his curiosity piqued. Why wasn't she afraid of him? Why wasn't she running?
"Hmm..." he looked her over, a glimmer of a knife in his hand, "Aren't you cute~ what would bring a vulnerable, sweet, young woman all teh way out here~?"
She grinned even wider, "I have a proposition for you... you work for me, you get paid, and you get to kill more than just junkies and my men for a living... work for me and you'll never have to live in filth again! You'll be able to live out any perverted violent fantasy you set your sights on!"
He paused, glancing over the other, then at the knife. After a long train of thought he tossed the knife to the side.
"What'cha got in mind boss?" he chuckled, a dark tone to his voice.
"How does targeting corporate heads sound? They've been very, very naughty, and I think it's about time we send those pig headed shits packing," she smirked.
The other's eyes widened, "A challenge~? I like it!"
"What's your name?"
"Victor. Victor Zsasz,"
She was twenty one.
She now stands at the epiphany of her career. There are ten corporate heads that need to roll, and five have already crumbled. There are five left to snuff out. She grins at the thought. The thought that her revenge will not only satisfy the violent lust in her stomach, but that there will never be children that are forced to go through what she had. Parents will never have to suffer losing their children. Parents will never be forced to resort to extreme measures to ensure their safety and well being. People won't have to die over a system designed to kill them.
She coughs. Her chest hurts. A pain shoots through her entire body. She's surprised she's lived this long. Perhaps it's spite? Or anger? Perhaps it's her wanting to live just a bit longer so she can spend time with the friends she's made along the way.
She feels a hand on her shoulder as she's lifted into a strong pair of arms. It's Victor. He wears a goofy smile as he always does around her. She lets out a satisfied sigh. For now everything is okay. For now everything is normal. One day she'll die. One day Victor will make sure that he's the one to do it. He's vowed. He's promised.
She's somehow made it to thirty.
That's basically everything I have on her so far! I have a few comics planned to go into detail of her relationships with some of the rouges she's closer to. Like Victor as her lover and weapon, Riddler as her informant and occasional sex partner, Mr. Freeze as her father figure, Penguin as a very dear close friend, and her strange friendship with Jim Gordon because of his father saving her life. There's a lot of puzzle pieces I'd rather fill in with art and pictures rather than story format, but I hope you enjoy her lore!

This isn’t BadMSPaintBahman, but it is some more batman stuff I uncovered in my archives while searching for a few stray comics. For a month or so in 2013, I was a bit enamored with the Arkham High concept...
Ancient, unfinished and unreadable art under the cut. Oh and also long post.

From left to right, top to bottom: Bane, Victor Fries ( Mr. Freeze ), Drury Walker ( Killer Moth ), Selina Kyle ( Catwoman ), Basil Karlo ( Clayface ), Joker, Batman ( Bruce Wayne ), Talia Al Ghul and her Father, Ra’s.

From left to right, top to bottom: Jervis Tetch ( Mad Hatter ), Victor Zsasz, Harleen Quinzel ( Harley Quinn ), Garfield Lynns ( Firefly ), Jonathan Crane ( Scarecrow ), Waylon Jones ( Killer Croc ), Julian Day ( Calendar Man ), Edward Nigma ( The Riddler ), Thomas Elliot ( Hush )

I have no idea why Garfield Lynns was the first one I colored.

I honestly can’t remember if I was just having fun translating batman designs into cartoony High School drama show teens or if I, at any point, entertained the idea of a separate comic, but I figured this might be of interest to some people who liked this blog back in its heyday. Thanks for takin’ a look!

Jonathan Crane and Crows
We all know about Harley’s love for her hyenas, Selina and her cats, and Ivy’s plants but what about Jonathan Crane and his corvid companions? We don’t talk enough about them. So I made this post.
Jonathan Crane is “official” owner of Gotham’s corvid population. This includes crows, ravens, magpies and rooks.
I put quotations around official because it’s mostly an unspoken rule around Gotham to not mess with the birds. You can feed them, but if you dare to throw stones or abuse the crows in any way, you will have to deal with the wrath of The Scarecrow!
And yes, he knows if you’ve mistreated his crows They are a family, and family sticks together. That, and the crows hold grudges. They know who’s hurt them, and they will not hesitate to fight back.
He’s actually trained the crows and ravens to do so. Yes, it is in their nature, but Scarecrow takes it a step further with personal training. What’s better than any army of crows a your disposal?
Jonathan teaches his crows tricks and other useful things alongside their combat training. They know the difference between a beaker and a flask and their wings are laced with a special from of fear dust that spreads when they fly across the Gotham Streets.
However, the irony is not lost on him. A scarecrow taking care of his enemy the crow? Preposterous! Even though they harmed him in his childhood, he has taken control of this fear and conquered it. They no longer scare Jonathan.
He never forgets to feed his crovids, and not just the ones who reside around his hideout either. He’ll gladly use what meager funds he has to buy seeds and berries for his birds.
He’ll regularly sit out in the park (in disguise of course) and feed the crows with his old lady partner in crime Mildred (Don’t worry, she knows nothing, she’s just god company) Even during a heist, or incarcerated at Arkham, he still figures out how to feed his corvid companions.
His Scarecrow costume comes with many burlap pockets and pouches, perfect for storing toxin--and yes, bird seed. He always has it handy.
One thing Jonathan does to preserve the memories of his crows is to take pictures of them. He has a vintage camera he got from a heist that he uses. He takes dozens of photos anytime they do something cute or mischievous because he wants to have something to remember them by.
One thing Jonathan had to get used to is the consistent, and almost annoying sound of their cawing. Crows can be like howling dogs in that way. Once one starts, a whole chorus erupts!
His hideouts are like second homes to the crows, he only “owns” a handful, which he uses for his schemes and plots. The rest just sorta...follow him? They know he brings the food and sometimes, gentle scratches, so they stay and in a sense, they protect him.
He names every crow, raven, and corvid that comes to him, and he remembers each of them. Some names include Craw, Nightmare, Cornchip, Edgar, Krueger, Myers, Voorhees and Hannibal.
His crows have figured out how to summon him when they want more treats. Jonathan can’t decide if this is a bad habit that he should not be reinforcing, or the best and most delightful thing in the world
Some days he wakes up in a bed of fathers, with half a dozen crows nested in his bed. He doesn’t mind this though, he feels less alone with the crows around.
Other rogues have differing options on his corvid companions. Oswald Cobblepot likes them, and welcomes Crane to use his bird sanctuary for any injured crows. Edward Nygma, can’t stand them. (and the crows know this, they usually pester him just for kicks) Harley Quinn LOOOOES the crows, and will gladly yet Jonathan stay at her place for a few days so she can fawn over them. Selina Kyle could live without them, and Waylon Jones likes their feathers. He collects them with Jonathan’s permission.
He has two favorites, Craw the crow and Nightmare the raven. Nightmare was his first, the one and only raven companion. Nightmare is his baby, of course he would never admit that. Unfortunately, Nightmare is too old and fragile to go out on missions anymore, and that’s where Craw comes in. He is no replacement, but he is a strong and clever son of a bitch that Jonathan saved from certain death. He holds a special place in his heart.
Like all crows do, they bring Jonathan little trinkets and treats for caring for them. He has a whole collection of rocks, fake jewels, shiny objects and coins. He has a literal treasure chest in which he stores these items, and he locks it up tight so no harm comes to his collection.
Jonathan Crane does love his crows, even if he wouldn’t say it aloud. He admires them greatly, they are like a second family to him--and he’s not a family person--so this means a lot. He loves watching his crows grow and mature, he adores seeing them hatch from their eggs, and he laughs every time they manage to break open the feeder and gorge themselves.
They make him...happy. And that is a rare feat. Jonathan is at his most peaceful when it’s early in the morning--before the rest of the city has woken up--and he’s sitting on a lone bench feeding a few hungry ravens. These are the moments he cherishes, when he’s all alone and it’s quiet. Only the occasional caw breaks the silence. It’s peaceful.

Waylon Jones (Killer Croc) is a character who is an example of how (usually mentally ill) black people in poverty are villainized when they have to turn to crime to survive in a system that’s literally designed to hold you back and instead of being given grace are usually weaponized for someone else’s agenda. Because of their many similarities and paralleling story arcs, being Jason’s next father figure would serve as a way to guide the younger man back into a healthy community as well as help Waylon reclaim some of his humanity. In this essay I will-

origin —
Roy Harper was born on an Earth that looks exactly like the one as you know it — except there was some differences to it. He grew up in this alternate timeline.
Roy never knew who his mother was, but his father was a forest ranger from what he was told growing up. He never learned what his mother’s name even was. His father raised him on his own for a while, but he died saving a Navajo reservation from a major fire. Roy was only two years old at the time and the shaman of the tribe, Brave Bow took him in. Roy was raised as a traditional member of the Tachini tribe since his father sacrificed himself to save them.
The boy didn’t have a lot of friends, but Brave Bow recognized that Roy had quite a talent when it came to archery. Since the boy didn’t have many kids his own age to hangout with he spent a lot of time practicing his skills with the bow. All of this practice made him develop the skill of someone twice his age. He was proud of this, and when Green Arrow made his debut Roy worshiped him as he followed him close as he possibly could.
Roy first met Oliver when he came to judge a tournament on the reservation that he was competing in. He used this as the prime chance to impress him, which he had.
The boy helped stop a robber which was when oliver said that he was “speedier” than he was. Which was how he became known as ‘SPEEDY’. Roy was adopted by Oliver. He was the only father figure to him left since Brave Bow died shortly after all of this. He was taught how to equally use standard arrows along with the trick arrows. Roy helped on many of his cases as his partner, and he eventually ended up joining the Teen Titans.
When he got older Roy developed a heroin addiction after becoming depressed, as well as becoming an alcoholic. He would party all night, waking up alone in abandoned buildings of town on some ripped up mattress. Sometimes he would be surprised that he even did wake up after how much he used the previous night. It was with the help of Dinah Lance and Hal Jordan that he was able to quit cold turkey after they discovered what was going on. Waylon Jones would become his sponsor going forward. Once clean and sober Roy felt it was time for a change and became ARSENAL. He’s still working on maintaining his sobriety and staying away from heroin. He doesn’t want to slip into his old destructive habits. He has an eight year old daughter and just wants to do better, and be better for her. She’s the best part of his world.
Something happens one day after coming home from one of his patrols, pulling him into a different universe with his daughter shortly after she had run to welcome him home. She really should have been asleep, but Mia said that Lian insisted on staying up. It all happened so fast, hearing his younger sister shouting their names until they were had been gone. The next thing the archer and his daughter knew is that they were in New York now, and within a day he figured out this wasn’t his universe. He was stuck here, maybe forever unless he can figure out what brought him here AND WHY.
Upon further research it was discovered that the Roy of this universe died when he was sixteen years old. He was still Speedy at the time, a mission tragically went south. The difference between their universes being that this Roy was never adopted by his mentor like the Oliver of his own universe did with him. They were so similar, but yet vastly different. He took a trip to visit the grave, something eerie about looking at a tombstone with your name on it. This Roy has been so little, with so much of his life to look forward to. He knew after this long everyone would have mourned the loss. Roy doesn’t know how to approach the people he misses so dearly, not wanting to open up old wounds for any of them. He can’t avoid everyone forever though — especially with how badly he wants to be reunited. How will they react?
Roy found a Engineering job at a place called Oscorp. He was honest with Harry about his story, about being displaced randomly from another universe — having nothing, but needing this job to help keep a roof over his daughter’s head. He tells his boss without a second thought about the fact he was a hero named Arsenal. He doesn’t like keeping secrets, especially when at that time the only person who believed in him was Harry. He doesn’t take anything for granted, and tries to live a normal life. He forms a metal band, enrolls Lian into the best school in the city, and tries to make the best out of it.
The question still remains — why was he here?

Something in me rejects “Joker would figuratively lay a hand on Bruce Wayne” when Joker a. knows he’s Batman, and b. his favorite thing in life other than pure chaos is fucking with him.
But what if--!
What if the rogues like Bruce so much that, for some of them at least, that care extends to his family?
Bruce Wayne sees Barbara Gordon as a daughter and Joker paralyzes her as part of an elaborate torture of her father who is a dear friend to Bruce? Well, Riddler has some obnoxiously elaborate forms of torture he’d love to test on the Joker.
Bane broke into his home and killed his butler/father figure in front of his youngest son? Freeze has been a bit curious on the makeup of Venom and its potential uses, and Bane is the perfect test subject, isn’t he?
Blockbuster starts targeting Dick Grayson because of his newfound wealth he’s using to improve Bludhaven? Well, Harvey might be interested in testing Blockbuster’s luck.
Ra’s al Ghul is going after Tim Drake? Harley’s looking for her biggest mallet and telling her puppies they’ve got some hunting to do. Ain’t no ugly old creep puttin his hands on her duckboy.
Cluemaster decides to target Stephanie when she’s not Spoiler/Batgirl? Well, maybe Cluemaster would accept a totally innocent gift of flowers from Poison Ivy.
This would pretty much spell doom for the Joker if we take “Red Hood’s identity is an open secret among most of Batman’s rogues” headcanon into account. He dared to lay a hand on Bruce Wayne’s son? Killed him? Oh, every single rogue, especially Harley Quinn and Waylon Jones, is on a fucking warpath. The Joker is fucked.
I know the popular take is Batman's rogues getting their butts handed to them by Bruce Wayne, and I'm not belittling that, because that's really funny for all stated reasons?
But how about a new take: most of Batman's rogues call him off limits, because they find out he is their benefactor, when/if they try to reform?
Mr Freeze won't touch him because when he's in Arkham, Bruce is the one who finances the research to help Nora Fries.
Poison Ivy won't touch him because he had been the one supplying her with plants, while in prison.
Harley won't touch him because he's just a great guy an' gotham needs guys like that.
Riddler won't touch him because he was the secret backer that time Eddie tried to open a detective agency.
Croc won't touch him because he's one of the few people who ever talks to him like a person.
Deadshot refuses any hits on him because he found out Wayne does a lot of secret work for people down on their luck who made bad mistakes.

rogues ranked by alfred as most to least acceptable for bruce to marry
Edward Nygma. he’s smart, he’s polite like 70% of the time, he knows how to dress for his coloring, he’s killed relatively few people, please marry the nice riddle boy Bruce
Ivy. stylish, classy, committed to green energy. unfortunately way out of your league
Jervis Tetch. listen, I know you don’t get along but please let me have another British person in this family I feel so alone. plus witty, well-read, smarter than most of our current R&D department
Harvey Dent + Harv. Harv brings the ranking down but I think most of Gotham is already psychologically prepared for you to marry Harvey. you two are obvious. I actually still have a wedding planned from back in the day so we’d save time on that
Harley Quinn. Loud, terrifying, but also miraculously good at getting along with everyone she meets. together, she and Bruce Wayne would be an unstoppable force of social likability
Jonathan Crane. objectively a bad decision, likely to face backlash from the press. he has no social skills. however, he likes my cooking and you could probably just give him the keys to the Wayne library and it would be an effortlessly happy marriage. we could work with this
Waylon Jones. He seems... nice. A bit rough around the edges, but I’m sure we could eventually find a suit that fits him. shares your love of hiding out in deep, dank places even when there are objectively much nicer places to be had
Jack Napier. Ranked this low due to personal feeling and appearing on this list at all because I know you’re thinking it, Bruce. but please. no
Selina Kyle. Would steal our silver and be off the next morning. Rather certain that she’s a lesbian
I know you’re still thinking about the Joker but Bruce please consider the feelings of your butler slash father figure and reconsider
he calls me the Bat-ler and doesn’t appreciate any of my cooking and you can’t take him anywhere public
Talia. you know she’s just going to stab you again, Bruce
#some don't make it onto the list as they aren't even within vaguely considering range#earth 451#sorta#gotham rogues#this is a quality blog

He is a high school dropout, but has proven to be moderately capable of organizing thugs in small-time racketeering operations. He is usually hired by other villains as muscle or as a hitman, as he is at least intelligent enough to follow instructions.

History
Killer Croc, also known as Waylon Jones, is a high profile criminal and one of Batman's most challenging adversaries. Croc is best known for his reptilian appearance due to his medical condition, which slowly transforms him into an anthropomorphic reptile.

Origin
Waylon Jones was born in a slum in Tampa, Florida. He was born with a medical condition that caused him to grow progressively more like a crocodile, hence his name. His mother died in childbirth, and his father abandoned him. Waylon was raised by his aunt, but her persistent drinking prevented him from growing up in an ideal household. As a teenager, Croc had no friends, and was the object of ridicule of those who knew him. By the time he reached adulthood, Waylon found work wrestling alligators as part of sideshow carnivals, where he earned the name "Killer Croc". Croc soon realized that there was more money to be made in crime, so he set out to become Gotham's most powerful underground figure. For this purpose, Croc first murdered Squid, an uprising crimelord and then he attempted to seize control of the Tobacconists' Club. His criminal activities made him a target of Gotham's vigilante Batman.
Croc's rise to the top of Gotham's underworld didn't go unnoticed and he made quick enemies of already established criminals. Croc was soon approached by Joker, who arranged a plan for Croc to eliminate Batman, but the madman's plan would also involve a double-cross, where Croc would be eliminated as well. Joker's plan failed and in the last confrontation with Batman, Croc was defeated and his reign of terror was over.
Some time later, notorious sociopath Ra's al Ghul engineered a massive breakout of Arkham Asylum, freeing all of the patients, including Killer Croc. In exchange for their freedom, the prisoners agreed to help Ra's with a scheme to confound the Batman. Croc's role in the plan was to break into Wayne Manor and abduct Bruce Wayne's butler Alfred Pennyworth. Croc had no idea what connection Pennyworth had to Batman, but he executed the deed without question, and brought Alfred back to Poison Ivy's Exotica Emporium where four other hostages were being held. Batman soon arrived to rescue the hostages and fought with Croc once again. As time was of the essence, Batman wasted little of it fighting Croc, and quickly subdued him with a gas pellet from his utility belt. Afterwards, Killer Croc was returned to Arkham Asylum.
Like many do, Croc eventually escaped from Arkham and began running criminal operations again. After robbing a shopping store, Croc discovered a secret stairwell that led into an old unfinished subterranean highway. The tunnel had since become a shelter for many of Gotham's homeless. Croc became friends with the homeless people and attempted to make a new life for himself. Croc's newfound lifestyle was short-lived however. Batman investigated the store robbery, and the trail led him right to Killer Croc's shelter. The two began fighting one another, but at midnight, the city flushed the tunnels with water from the river, and Croc was washed away. His friends believed that he had died in the flood.

Knightfall
Croc survived however, and six months later had taken to living out of the Gotham City alleyways. He was tormented by visions of his past, calling to mind hurtful incidents where his peers would routinely comment about his physical features. In combination with his natural, instinctive rage, Croc's emotional state erupted into a wave of violence and he began going berserk throughout the city streets. News crews captured his latest rampage, as he began terrorizing the district known as Eden Park. An aspiring foreign crime lord known as Bane witnessed Croc's rampage, and determined that defeating him would be a stepping stone on his personal path towards destroying Batman. Before Bane could catch up with him though, Croc found himself facing neophyte vigilante Jean-Paul Valley, as well Batman's young sidekick Robin. Bane interrupted the fight and demonstrated his raw power by breaking both of Croc's arms.
Croc was sent back to Arkham Asylum, where he spent a very short period of time because a few weeks later, Bane attacked Arkham and unleashed all the inmates including Croc. Wandering through the sewers of Gotham, the only thought in Croc's mind was getting revenge against Bane. His opportunity came when he discovered Bane had captured Robin and taken him to the sewers. Croc fought Bane and destroyed the venom pumping machine, but Bane broke his arm again. They were dragged by the water to the river outside and Croc was left unconscious after the fight.

Prodigal
Croc soon healed and returned to Gotham in an effort to re-establish himself in the criminal underworld. He went on a brutal murder spree that claimed the lives of several members of the Paretti crime family operating out of Gotham's waterfront district. At this point in time, Bruce Wayne had relinquished the role of Batman to his first ward Dick Grayson. As the new Batman, Dick and Robin fought with Croc at a warehouse. Surviving members of the Paretti gang were present and opened fire on Croc severely wounding him. Croc survived once again however and evaded capture.
Years later, Killer Croc was summoned by some strange paranormal force to break out of Arkham Asylum and make his way to the Louisiana swamps. Batman followed him there only to find that the mysterious force was actually the Swamp Thing, who offered Croc a place in the swampland where he could finally give in to his animal side and live free from human persecution. There he stayed, and Batman returned to Gotham City.

Hush Virus and Mutation
On a grand scheme to take Batman down, Hush implanted a virus in Croc that caused his body to devolve into a more primal and reptilian state. In this state, Croc was told to kidnap a rich kid and to claim the ransom to treat his condition. However, Hush was using him for other purposes and Croc was captured by Batman.
Croc was then taken to Arkham Asylum, where Batman questioned him about the money, but Croc managed to escape and Batman allowed it in order to follow the monster. Croc went to see Catwoman, who took the money after he was captured. Batman stopped him from hurting her and when Croc was revealing that the money was to cure him, Amanda Waller and the F.B.I captured Croc and took him into custody.
Croc is then treated by the police and a doctor named Maria Belleza and shortly after, Croc is cured and returned to his "normal" appearance.
During the great gang war of Gotham, Croc was present at the massive criminal meeting at Robinson Park and he was one of the first criminals to attack Batman, biting his cowl and destroying the radio intercom. Croc was preventing Batman from reaching Black Mask until Robin arrived and defeated Croc using his staff. Afterwards, Croc joined Scarecrow and they followed Black Mask to the North End of Gotham.
However, Black Mask kidnapped Croc and with the help form Mad Hatter, they implanted a mind-controlling chip in Croc's brain allowing Black Mask to force Croc to do his biddings. A few days later and during one of Black Mask's bank heists, Croc removed the chip from his brain and slaughtered Black Mask's henchmen. After this, he went looking for Mad Hatter and was about to devour the man when he was stopped by Batman, who explained that Croc had a brain infection that could kill him and that the virus that caused him to mutate so severely has reactivated and his mutation would worsen with time. Batman dosed Croc with an antibiotic to save his life and Croc escaped from the place, with a desire for revenge against Black Mask.
Croc looked for Maria Belleza again and on his way to her he slaughtered more members of the False Face Society. Doctor Maria Belleza was a scientist whose knowledge about Croc's disease allowed her to get closer to Croc than any human has ever before. However, Maria's antidote was short lived and the mutation started again. After long tests, Maria concluded that there was no cure and Croc, losing control over himself, devoured the doctor, following his animal instincts but regretting the action with his human conscience. With vengeance in mind, Croc went looking for who was responsible for his mutation.
Croc was later discovered feeding off the remains of the villain Orca. He was apprehended once again and taken back to Arkham Asylum.

One Year Later
While being transferred from one prison cell to another, Croc wrestled free from his handlers and attacked visiting reporter Jimmy Olsen. Olsen spontaneously generated super-powers and was able to escape unharmed. Killer Croc soon escaped confinement however, and was one of many super-powered villains led by Deathstroke who crashed the wedding of Green Arrow and Black Canary. Fortunately, the wedding party was made up of members of the Justice League, the Justice Society, the Outsiders and the Teen Titans. By the end of the fight, most of the villains, including Croc, were apprehended. The administrators of Checkmate later decided that Croc was too dangerous for them to safely contain him. He, along with many others, were exiled from the Earth via Boom Tubeand taken to the "Salvation" World.
Upon returning to Earth, Croc along with other supervillains like Mr. Freeze, fought to regain control of the city by taking out Intergang. However, Croc was eventually captured and taken to Arkham Asylum.
After the Black Glove's failed plan to destroy Batman, all the inmates from Arkham Asylum were transferred to Blackgate until Arkham was completely decontaminated. On their way back to Arkham, the vehicles that transported the inmates were assaulted by a new Black Mask, who freed the inmates, blew the asylum in front of all of them and forced them to join his army. Croc was among the inmates who joined Black Mask's group and under his instructions, he worked together with Poison Iyv, located the Batmobile and attacked Damian Wayne, who was rescued by the timely arrival of Nightwing. Afterwards, Croc, Ivy and Firefly attacked and destroyed several factions of Penguin's gang, following Black Mask's instructions.
He escaped Black Mask but was captured and imprisoned by the Outsiders.

Gotham Rogues Profile #1: Dr. Jonathan Ulysses Crane AKA The Scarecrow
The first part of a rather long series of profiles, both because I wanted to write them out and also because they were requested by @the-mighty-sorceress, @spacetabbi, @hugsforvillains, @michi0no, and @perfunctoryusernamecreation . I hope you guys like it.
CATEGORY#1: BASIC STATS
Gender: Male
Grammatical Gender (Masculine, Feminine, Androgynous, etc.): Masculine with a very heavy tint of femininity. His upbringing and appearance had an innate femininity imprinted on him.
Age: 27-30
Race, ethnicity, culture: Mixed race, half Irish, half Native American of the Crow tribe. Though he was officially made a member of his father’s tribe in his early teens, much of the culture he ascribes to is that of Gotham and the Deep South. He speaks Crow and attends tribal celebrations when he has the time and isn’t in Arkham.
Height: 6’3”
Body type: tall, long, and wiry. There’s not much fat to him and while he has muscle, it’s mostly lean
Appearance: Jon is very pretty, in that his features and appearance are rather feminine and doll-like. There are small “off” things about his features. When he’s neutral or tired he looks fine, but his expressions can look quite daunting, especially his smile. He has a gap between his two front teeth.
Jon’s hair is a mop of black curls, a trait he gets from his mother. In his early years, it was cut rather short and managed, but a lack of care has turned it messy and untamed.
If there’s a defining, terrifying feature of Jon, it’s his eyes, they’re icy blue and piercing, it almost looks like he knows more than he’s been told.
Jon’s skin is copper, you can definitely see his native heritage in his skin color.
Jon has multiple tattoos, the most prominent being a tree growing from a heart on his back, a spade on his left forearm, and a bird behind his right ear. Others include an octopus over his navel, a cursive note under his collarbone (Reads “Jasper-Maximillian-Zachariah”, the other three boys groomed by his third abuser), and a cross on the side of his right hand. His childhood has left his body a web of scars, many of which are hidden by tattoos.
Where is he from? Jon was born and raised in a small Southern town in Georgia called Arlen, where he lived until he was 11 when his great-grandmother died. Afterwards, he was placed with his father in Columbia, South Carolina. He was placed in a mental facility in Columbia when he was 14 after suffering a severe nervous breakdown, but was released at 16, and moved to Gotham to attend Gotham University.
CATEGORY #2: RELATIONSHIPS
Family: Jonathan’s first known family was his great-grandmother, Mary Keeny. Mary was the product of a very prestigious Southern family and hated her great-grandson, an illegitimate, mixed-race boy. Mary severely abused her great-grandson until her death when he was 11.
Jonathan’s mother, Karen, is largely uninterested in either of her children, especially not Jon. Her treatment of him is mostly disgust and fear. Jon greatly resembles his mother.
Jon’s father Gerald was the one to take him in after Mary’s death. Though he cared for his son, he was extremely controlling and protective of Jon, not allowing him enough space. He also ignored that Jon began suffering from bipolar disorder until Jon had a nervous breakdown at 14. Gerald is currently in prison for child abuse.
Jon has a single half-sister, Adriane Jarvis, who was taken from Karen by their grandmother. Adriane has a relatively healthy relationship with Jonathan, though it is slightly damaged by their large age gap (Adriane is 10) and Jon’s mental illness.
Jon’s maternal grandmother, Marion Keeny, is the closest thing teenage Jon ever had to a maternal figure. She and Jonathan have the closest relationship of anyone on his maternal side.
Lyndon Keeny is Jonathan’s great-great-uncle, Mary Keeny’s “wayward” brother. He and Jon seldom meet face to face because he lives in Europe, but their relationship is healthy enough that they keep in touch.
Jon’s paternal grandfather, Chayton, is the closest thing Jon has to a proper father figure. He was Jon’s major teacher when it came to learning about Crow culture and language.
Jon’s paternal grandmother, Ruth, is the closest Jon will probably ever get to a proper grandmother. She’s protective of him but nurturing. She isn’t controlling and loves cooking for her very thin grandson. She also has a concealed firearm and has 100% threatened Batman with it.
Friends: Jon’s closest friend is Harley Quinn, they’ve known each other since college and even dated for two years (and then again later while both were dating the Joker). Their relationship is casual, comfortable, and full of very bad puns, sarcasm, inside jokes (Peach Pie Moonshine is a phrase that will send them both into a laughing fit), and dirty humor.
Jon grew up with Charlie McIntyre and Hartley Rathaway, both are rather close friends and Jon and Hartley briefly dated when both were teenagers. Jon visits both regularly.
Jon’s closest male friends are Jervis Tetch, Edward Nygma, and Maxwell Mavis. The three pull regular heists together and Jon has had an on-off romantic relationship with Edward.
Jon’s tensest friendship is with Pamela Isley. The two became friends in college, and even then, were a little at odds. Pamela’s opinions strain their relationship on occasion, as does Jon’s relationship with Harley, especially before Pamela and Harley begin dating. While not jealous of Jon, Pamela is a little sour that Jon didn’t defend Harley enough while dating Joker.
The three other boys abused with Jon by Hugo Strange, Jasper Curtis (6 years younger), Maximillian Zeus (2 years younger), and Zachariah Bloom (4 years younger), are all still friends with him, they’ve formed a brotherly relationship. Jon, being the eldest, watches all three carefully and does his best to make sure they don’t get hurt or in any danger.
Jon drinks regularly with Waylon Jones and Leonard Snart, he’s also slept with both.
Jon has become good friends with Timothy Drake, but the relationship has become more brotherlike than anything else. Much of the relationship is Jon keeping Tim from drinking coffee concoctions to stay awake.
Jason Todd has befriended Jon because Jon saved his life at least four times, probably more.
Bane, Angelo Sanchez, has formed a tense sort of friendship with Jonathan while trying to get clean. Bane refers to Jon alternately as lobo, meaning wolf, or mestizo, referring to Jon’s mixed heritage. Jon also works for his cartel regularly.
Jon and Selina became friends early in Jon’s criminal career, they’re still rather close.
CATEGORY #3: THE SEXY STUFF
Sexual orientation: Pansexual
What is he attracted to?: Jon has relatively variable preferences, but in general he’s very focused on eyes, he loves them. Despite his ridiculous height he is extremely attracted to people who are taller than him. Being shorter clearly isn’t a dealbreaker though. One of the more interesting notes is that Jon prefers submissive men and dominant women. He is rather attracted to any kind of intelligence, be it emotional, logical, etc., and likes small traits like, for instance, Edward listing riddles when he’s nervous. Jon also enjoys people who have a sense of humor.
Sexual experience: While Jon’s initial sexual experience was negative, Jon is very comfortable, perhaps a little too comfortable, with sex. Jon has had multiple sexual partners of all genders.
Romantic experience: Jon has had a number of romantic relationships alongside sexual partners. His most prominent and long lasting being with Harley and Edward. Jon’s romantic experience can be a bit trying though, he has a hard time trusting people because of his past.
CATEGORY #4: SKILLS
Skills: Jon is extremely intelligent and intuitive, being able to read people and situations very easily. He’s skilled at mimicking voices both speaking and singing, can play violin and piano, and is multilingual (speaks French, Latin, Ancient Greek, Crow, and ASL). Despite being unable to shoot a handgun, Jon has two civilian sharpshooting medals for his ability to shoot a hunting rifle. He’s also skilled with most knives and, while not strong or disciplined enough to hold his own against a trained opponent, knows enough to overpower larger or stronger opponents in a fight (provided said opponent does not have any other considerable advantage, Jon can’t beat someone who can literally break his arm by biting it), both skills were taught to him by Bane and Selina. Jon is largely immune to most toxins due to extensive fear toxin testing on himself and regularly being close proximity to Pamela Isley. As an added note, Jon is hypermobile, making him unusually flexible.
Occupation/schooling: Jon has a PhD in psychology gained at 25 (equaling out to 9 years of schooling). He also has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. Before becoming a major criminal in Gotham he taught psychology at Gotham University, also acting as a consultant for the GCPD. Despite regularly being incarcerated at Arkham Mental Facilities, he also consults there as a patient.
Hobbies: Reading is Jon’s main hobby, though he’s obsessed with fear and often studies it whenever he can, he’s fond of cooking, particularly baking, and loves horror and slasher films, Jon also loves playing the violin.
CATEGORY #5: PERSONALITY & CHARACTER
Introvert or extrovert? Definite introvert, though he can occasionally come off as extroverted from his mannerisms.
Strengths: Jonathan is intuitive and has a strong sense of empathy, he can easily connect to people and their emotional state (the problem is he doesn’t give two shits about either, unrelated to the empathy part), and also has a good skill in using both to his advantage. Jon can come off as misleading, he feigns sympathy well and is skilled at playing the manipulator, making him excellent at drawing people in. He’s also learned how to use his looks as a draw (basically how to use sex appeal as a weapon) and has cultivated this as a strength. That said, when he comes across a person he cares about, he’ll happily lay his life down for them and is a very loving, while a touch overprotective, friend.
Weaknesses: Jon is reckless, often putting his life in danger for thrills or fun. He can also be very cruel and vindictive. His lack of sympathy and high empathy makes him a very skilled and calculating manipulator, but makes him less good at being trustworthy or kind to strangers. Jon also lacks much trust in others, being quick to withdraw his trust if it’s broken. Jon’s near-obsession with control can make him erratic if things aren’t going his way. Jon also drinks heavily, barely sleeps, and eats sporadically.
Goals/dreams/aspirations: Jonathan’s goal, above all others, is to be able to push past fear, to not be afraid of anything.
Beliefs/affiliations: Jonathan was raised Catholic by his great-grandmother, who was very radical and practiced flagellation. Jonathan was taught this form of religion, but the flagellation was ended with his father, and the nurses at the Columbia Mental Hospital taught Jonathan a much gentler form of Catholicism to help him cope with his bipolar disorder. Jonathan is still a practicing Catholic.
Beyond his religion, Jonathan values heavily independence and honesty, as well as loyalty. While he is rather cruel, he has a very high opinion of people who are kind regardless of their circumstances (Jon has a massive amount of respect for Becky Albright for both her kindness and adherence to his other values).
Fears: Jonathan has already confronted many of his fears in the past. His most principle fear is losing his sovereignty and free will. He’s been exploited, abused, and groomed by a man whose motives were extremely disturbing and never wants to go back to that time again. He reacts very poorly when people attempt to manipulate him and has been known to stab people who touch him without asking.
Jonathan also fears getting attached to people, mainly because soon after befriending Pamela she was abused by Woodrue.
Insecurities: Though Jonathan is relatively attractive and is aware of this, he is insecure about many aspects of it. His feminine and often unsettling features were a source of ridicule for him as a child, and he was often the subject of cruel teasing over his resemblance to a doll and his unnerving features, as well as his mixed heritage.
He heavily underestimates his own ability to handle situations, often making him easy to pass over.
What would he die for? People he cares deeply about like Harley, his family (even members he hates like his parents), abuse victims.

So, if you’re totally ignoring both New52 and Rebirth, ignore this addition to the post and do not press Read More.
1) Jason was over 15 (as he was 15 in the year zero; does New 52 timeline makes sense? Is there established timeline for Rebrith? Not to my knowledge, no, and yet) when Jay and Roy met.

As I remember it, Roy Harper was struggling with his addiction, heavily drinking, and living in Gotham - Dick’s home city - to boot, at the time.
Yes, their age difference would make hanging out slightly awkward, perhaps, though maybe not - for friends 5-8, and even 10 years is not that much, it’s not like they would have been in romantic relationships while Jason was underage.
And they did not hang out together then - Jason was murdered shortly after. Just a case of bad timing. But he did help Roy when no one did, and he did say Roy can visit him anytime, that he would be glad be friends with him - because everyone needed a friend.
2) While Roy was struggling, while he found himself on a verge of suicide by a rogue, the only person who gave a shit about him - except Robin who couldn’t very well give him all that much support because he, well, was murdered, - was actually Waylon Jones.

Where was Dick at the time? Why didn’t he help Roy? I don’t know.
And meeting Waylon was also one of the most cherished memories of Roy.
3) When Roy was wrongfuly imprisoned in Ethipoia/Quarac jail (please note: he was wrongfully accused by people who hired him under the guise of liberating their homeland - so him ending up an outlaw was actually a misconception; but after Jason rescued him from jail Roy didn’t have anywhere else to go, and he could handle a little misconseption because he actually was doing something good, so non of that ‘Jason made an outlaw of Roy).

Also, the person who rescued him out of jail? Jason. And Kory. Not Dick.
Where was Dick? I don’t know.
And I should mention, only three people had that much influence over Jason so he voluntarily would go to the place he died - and still struggles with PTSD aftermaths.
4) Jason and Roy do, in fact, have a lot in common. They both were taken in by a vigilante millionare and it didn’t end well. They both feel betrayed by their father figure, kicked down when they needed a hand up. Their relationships with respective families almost non-existent. There’s no one who would understand that sort of betrayal better than each other.
This point could be illustrated by too many pages, but I also think it should be pretty obvious.
So. Is Jason just a snotty little brother for Roy? Is Jason, what, stealing friends from Dick? (like, literally only 2 of them, and you say it like he got engaged with Oracle and goes drinking with Wally)
I think not. I think Dick doesn’t owe a fucking copyright to people. And people can have more than one friend. AND if you put three characters in the series together where only those three will be main characters, each of them having their own arcs, well. It would make sense that people will start to assossiate those three characters together, and not people with whom they were close before or after - if other team ups have way larger rooster and spotlight is harder to get.
just imagine the confusion on pre-52 roy’s face if you told him the character he’d end up most associated with is jason todd
