Hey, fat trans woman out there, who has never made a post, who has only ever lurked. I know youve tried a million different methods for dieting. I know youve wrestled with body image issues and dyspmorphia in a way that rivals the burning self-hatred of dysphoria. I know how bad that feeling is. I know you have a closet full of clothes that dont fit you, but you'll wear them "when you lose weight."
Maybe you will lose weight, and thats great, but maybe you wont.
Maybe you cant right now.
Maybe a diet is too hard for you to handle at this point in time.
But that's okay.
I need you to know that, if youve had your life eaten up by this constant, 24/7 anxiety about your body weight, you arent alone in that. Fat trans femmes dont talk a lot about our own experiences, we arent represented like skinny trans femmes. Im real. You're real.
We have been, our entire lives, conditioned to believe in very rigid, strange ideas of cishet beauty, from our assigned gender roles to our weight,
But queer love and queer beauty supersedes that idea. Unlearning that self-hatred is so hard for many fat trans folks, but you can take a step. Its probably a big one, and its a tall order, but, i need you to do something.
I need you to accept that you are fat, at this point in your life. Wear clothing that fits your figure. Look at other girls that look like you. There is happiness in a fat girl's life, i promise you from the bottom of my heart that there is.

"Shopping for clothes is already intimidating. There are so many options and styles to consider, as well as factors like sustainability and ethics.
But for people in fat, disabled, or queer and gender-nonconforming bodies, it’s even more arduous.
Nico Herzetty, Emma K. Clark, and Paul Herzetty wondered: What if there was a way people could shop — not necessarily by color or size — but by measurements, materials, and ethics?
So they set off to create their website: Phoria.
Here, shoppers can set up a free profile, add their body measurements (and “typical fit challenges”) and peruse over 270 brands. Once these data points are entered, users can personalize their pages with “saved,” “recommended,” or “hidden” brands.
Pages can be totally private, or shared with the community to connect over styles and brands.
Aside from fit, brands in the Phoria database (which claims to be “the largest database of plus-friendly brands”) can also be filtered as “gender-neutral,” “woman-run,” “small business,” or “natural fibers.” Users can also filter for price, preferred styles, and more.
Pictured: A screenshot of the "Fit Challenges" feature on a Phoria user's profile.
Some brands include popular names like Athleta, Levi’s, and Patagonia. Others are small businesses, like Beefcake Swimwear, or Hey Peach.
“For so many people, it feels too damn hard to find and keep clothing that fits in all the ways that really matter. So we’re doing something about it,” the Phoria website reads.
“Unlike most online shopping experiences, we center the needs of plus-size women, nonbinary, and trans people, and prioritize supporting clothing brands focused on sustainability, ethics, and inclusion.” ...
That team — made up of Clark, and Nico and Paul Herzetty — calls themselves “fat, disabled, and very, very queer.”
“These are some of the main ways we identify, and they’re qualities that have directly impacted our ability to get dressed every day in a way that feels good,” the Phoria team introduces themselves on the website.
Pictured: A screenshot of Phoria's plus-size clothing brand database.
In addition to catering the user experience to women, non-binary, and trans people, Phoria is also a benefit corporation, or a B corp.
“We’ve legally required ourselves to consider the interests of all our stakeholders — customers, employees, the planet, and our shareholders,” the Phoria website explains.
“Our specific public benefit purpose is to reduce people’s dependence on buying mass-produced items made in unsustainable ways and to use human-centered business models to boldly challenge economic systems of inequity.”
Right now, in the early stages of the company’s business, it doesn’t make any money.
“We’re focused on building something that genuinely solves plus-size people’s challenges around clothes shopping and supports smaller and more sustainable brands,” Phoria’s website states.
So, spreading the word seems to be of utmost importance...
Additionally, TikTok creators @couplagoofs (a queer couple named Morgan and Phoebe), recently shared a video in which they discovered Phoria. They met the website’s creators at a fat liberation event in their city and were introduced to the tool.
Quickly, commenters responded with gratitude and excitement.
“It is so disappointing to sort through pages of plus size clothes that aren’t even plus size,” a TikTok user commented. “This is gonna be such a good tool!”
Some even shared emotional responses, speaking to the need at the heart of Phoria’s mission.
“I’m… gonna cry,” another commenter wrote. “I’ve needed this my whole life.”"

A message from a close friend of mine: ❤️
Hi everyone! I am raising funds for my best friend & chosen family member Eli Arrington. Eli was recently discharged from the hospital with a diagnosis of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a rare neurological and autoimmune condition. Eli will be attending frequent outpatient therapy appointments (physical, occupational, mental health) and various other appointments including primary care and neurology as they work to regain mobility and strength on the long road to recovery.
Eli is unable to drive and their family works full-time outside of the house, so they cannot provide rides to appointments. Funds will be used for transportation via Lyft or Uber for them and their mobility aid to and from 3-5 medical and mental health appointments a week.
Eli cares deeply for their community and loves us well. I am hoping we can give them the same kindness and care they give others during this hard time. Eli has held my hand and the hands of many other friends through life-changing challenges. Please help us give back to our chosen family, community member, and friend during their own life-altering health crisis. No amount is too small. Please share this fundraiser with everyone you can. Thank you!
I know Eli personally, they are a wonderful human being. ❤️ Please help me support my community! No donation is too small.

Quick tip: If a trans passing guide is focused on thinness, whiteness, or getting rid of anything about yourself that is "too clockable" (regardless of if that thing about yourself makes you happy), maybe it isn't worth fretting about, since it is clearly coming from a homogenized idea of what passing looks like
#trans#transgender#lgbt#lgbtq#ftm#mtf#nonbinary#dysphoria tw#for me it's a red flag when those guides assume you're thin and white or at least strive to be/be like that#(coming from a thin white person who was like that pre/post transition)#like for me i also don't like when people almost blame trans people when they don't pass or like... they've Failed Being Trans#i'm begging young trans people to not be swept up in the idea that passing is being thin and white and pretty#and that if you're fat/not white/not conventionally attractive you might as well admit you've Failed at Being Trans#because all that is a load of shit#while trans people owe NOBODY passing you also aren't prevented from passing because you aren't the 'cookie-cutter' expectation

I'm queer myself but am not really in too many masc circles, so pardon me if this impression is wrong. I've always gotten this vibe from how people act on here that bears in the queer community are usually viewed as tops, like they're inherently dominant and the protector/carer for their partner. Whereas how people talk about twinks has always made it sound like twinks are inherently submissive bottoms, the little spoon to a bear's big spoon, the one who gets to be protected and cared for by their partner. And I have to say, I don't think it's a coincidence that twinks, an identity that supposedly only thin people are allowed to have, get to be the queer community's submissive little spoon while fat men are pigeonholed to the single role of "Masculine, big, dominant top." Over and over again, I see the queer community pressure and force fat people into that type of role. A fat person of any gender being feminine or submissive? Preposterous! People even do this for queer ships in fandoms. Bigger than your partner? Please step into the "Giant teddy bear whose only purpose is to meet the needs of your smaller and thus more innocent partner" line. Like feminine, fat, queer men are even used as a homophobic stereotype and the butt of jokes. Can we stop doing this?
