List of 25 shops and merchants to populate your fantasy towns.
This is an selection of shops
Pall's Potions: A position shop that specializes in cheap potions that consist of oil and potion books for stranger potions. They also have a tavern "outback".
Dream Hallows: A shop that sells magical wines and sleep medicine. If you pay extra they may even sell you dreams trapped in bottles.
Gremly: A goblin wandering the roads sells alcohol and trinkets in exchange for food or favors. they also know fireball and invisibility targeted on themself.

Bill's General Goods: a Shop with two lairs to it, the first floor is a regular general goods store that sells soap, some healing potions, and other general goods, and the secret gambling den in the cellar with a fully stacked complementary bar and fighting pit. Be careful when cheating though, they have an oracle and three thugs in a corner who are more than willing to pick a fight.
Calvin's Mansion: An abandoned mansion that's been turned into a market that's an open secret amongst the town. it has shops supplied by bandits and some adventurers. and occasionally a corrupt guard. with a silent unspoken word of don't ask, don't tell.
The orphanage black market: A market of orphan gangs who only let other orphans or trusted allies in (You can just bribe the children guards with candy or food from the local tavern). Once inside, you can bargain with the orphans and even get a meeting with their leader (The oldest orphan in the orphanage). The orphans are easy to scam and don't always know what they're selling. If discovered, they'll just move it somewhere else in the city next time.
Odess Mines: A mine used as a "Safe" training ground for adventurers, along with having adventurer-specific equipment and amenities. It also may have some local goblins in a mine that run a hot spring and a local lost and found, with the right finder's fee (They'll also take fruit tarts). They'll even pay a premium for any ore you bring back from the mines if you find any.
Golden Grills: A Restaurant with a blacksmith built into the side. The facilities are shared and may fight often. They make good American-style ribs and buy used weapons from adventurers.
The headmen: A Shop set up in a giant skull specializing in anti-undead equipment. including Holy water, symbols of many undead gods, some wafers, a couple bombs, and other things.
Grilla's Gormay Potluck: A food place where you trade food for food. In some cases, some constructs that help with cooking can be bought there (If stolen, they will still work but will try and poison people when they cook, or not listen to them because they haven't been transferred to the thief. If they go back and complain about it, they will be called out and possibly arrested by the shop for that). Some of the food also has special effects, and they'll buy fresh monster parts and other food stock for gold.
Baron's delivery: A delivery service that sells off overdue orders and will go off and find things for you up to a point (They won't go and find ancient treasures, people-specific items, extra). They also charge by the item. with them selling it off if you don't show up in time. They state this to each customer bluntly and directly. Then they assign a location to pick it up later, and they either get the item or a refund.
For Cod's Sake: A fish shop that serves seafood and sells ocean-related spell components, shell trinkets, and occasionally a priest who gives holy water.
The Cresent Moon: A shop that has a general goods, a midnight lottery, and a bidding war after that. With a paid party in the basement after that.
The Cart Mystery: A mass of carts that acts as a market. Traveling in their own area and living in the carts. It's large and can have various different items and trinkets they sell. there are also some pop-up shops and performers who'll sing for coins.
Sail's ahoy: A wrecked ship used by an old lady who sleeps there and sells scavenged treasure brought by the co-workers, who are mermaids who sell stuff the old lady scavenges from the surface. they both hide their treasures in a air pocket in a cave cove.
Silver Station: A blacksmith that handles bets on horse racing and refurbishing older goods. They also sell cheap trinkets and potions made by his family members.
Bark tea imploratory: Potions and oozes are sold here. Alchemical resources are considered incredibly valuable, and there is a local druid who helps out.
The Black Crown: A hidden shop that specializes in fiendish deals with friendly faces. Appearing overnight and offering curst objects or if you're looking for it, more fiendish deals.
The Songbird Circus: Appearing in abandoned buildings and warping the space within to fit its many gambling dens, fighting pits, bars, and backroom deals. This place is known as a hub for chaotic entities from celestial to fiends, to all in between. Warlocks commonly find their bargains struck here. The public face of the Circus den of debauchery is a warlock themself, seeming to be patterned by the business itself. Unable to die or leave as long as the circus exists.
The Shining Spirit: A Bar and casting service that can easily cure curses. They are known to be largely benevolent, but not always welcomed due to their strange abilities.
The Copper Bell: A shop run by a golem with a barred creat as a torso, where all the shop's goods are kept. Accepting money in exchange for various small products. With the owner of the shop helping decorate bells in the back.
Chapplton's Boat: A boat filled with old adventuring loot and sails from port to port selling it. With some original armor and weapons made from monster parts by the captain. They also help get bounties out far and wide.
The Castle of Strally: A Flying fortress known for teaching wizards and sorcerers, while also trading magical trinkets of whimsical or protective nature to others. Many even sell amicher potions by the many apprentices.
The Hidden Eye: A house that contains information and trades it for objects only they know the true value of. It is the hope to collect artifacts and magical items to preserve and seal, with many creating stashes of notes on each item. they rarely let one of their items be let out to the world once they have it. but during times of strife, these items are often lost in the chaos, and they're known to pay good pay in exchange for their safe return.

I've been roleplaying with a Ranboo AI and I honestly wanted to show it besides my friend, it's a bit fanfic so...I'll say what this is about a little bit: Sam (my oc) is a female fox, who was initially hired as a personal maid for Prince Ranboo, but she is also a bodyguard and nurse, Ranboo tries to control her and make her do everything he wants but Sam is smarter and does it. Called a child for his arrogant attitude until he gets a reality check, But despite this she will make him know many things, a knowledge beyond what those walls can give him, what she never expects is that he would be a great trigger in her life that she will never forget.

So I was joking around on this post about the lack of alignment in Baldur's gate when a shiver ran down my spine. My badtake senses were tingling, and lo and behold there was this waiting for me in my notifications:
Tumblr media
Now this is fascinating because this user obviously has an axe to grind: We were specifically talking about a notoriously clunky and contentious ruleset in d&d that no one really likes, not even the current developers, and this person decided to go off like I was the architect of the modern godless age.
Checking their blog shows we're dealing with someone with some baggage, as what appears to at first be your bog-standard cocktail of conservative cottage-core and LOTR memes gives way to Jordan Peterson clips, antichoice rhetoric, and more than a few posts that veer into Q-Anon nonsense.
What leaks through most however (especially if you're like me and spend a lot of time examining the whys of ideological brainrot) is that despite how much this person wants a peaceful life in the country what they REALLY want is to die for a righteous cause: Their blog name is a biblical reference to mass death and the punishment of the wicked, they're WEIRDLY invested in the final charge of the Rohirrim, and simmering below the pretty pictures of forests and mountains and animals and guns is the sense that the world is an evil place and the only thing that's going to fix it is a cleansing wave of violence.
Tumblr media
Normally I wouldn't go so in depth like this but I thought since we were talking about morality systems and where they might lead us it'd be a good idea to get a read on where this criticism is coming from.
Now onto my rebuttal: My desire to see the alignment chart left behind along with other clunky rpg systems like Thac0 has no bearing on my real life stance on morality. You shouldn't NEED a fantasy rolplaying game to tell you that you're objectively good in order to soothe your IRL moral anxieties and you going off like this when I suggested changing something tells me that this is a bit of a safety blanket for you.
The fact that you can't tell the difference between a story with no moral compass and one that allows for diverse opinions on what could be considered "moral" tells me that you're terrified of doing the wrong thing and that makes you easily exploited by people who cloak themselves in righteous authority and call you a good boy for wasting your life in their service. I was like that too once but let me tell you it's far better to question who decides what rightness is than to follow it blindly.
Lastly, on the topic of morality codes in rpgs, I'm not against characters or the stories they're in having morals, I just think it's silly for there to be only nine codified (though extremely contradictory) options for how those morals can be expressed. Why hold onto a system that's too flawed to be useful ?

Thinking about it, I think this problem happens when a player brings a Grand Theft Auto mentality™ to a Collaborative rolplaying game, and expecting instant gratification instead of long-term payoff. I was that player once.
One day, I went to a con, and there was a important D&D name running a pick-me up one shot (I don't remember which important name it was). It was a monopoly-themed campaign and really cool, and I wasted the first twenty minutes of the experience trying to inject chaos by catching things on fire instead of having my mideval fantasy fire warrioring talk to ben and jerry about ice cream that she was experiencing for the first time, and when the DM tried to move things along, and I insisted on trying to cause chaos, he said, "DM to player: I'm trying to move the game along, trust me to give you an opprotunity later."
Whenever I think back to that moment, I always remember how small I felt when the DM turned to me and said, "DM to player." The man scared me while remaining perfectly composed from across the table.
And, so I shut up and let the story, and a few rooms later true to his promise, I got the opprotunity, when we came into a tavern steeped in the stench of alcohol that a match woulda ignited. I failed my perception check and ignited my flame sword. Near-instant TPK and my chaos gremlin urge was much more satisfied by that moment than it ever coulda been by merely stabbing an NPC or lighting an innocent try on fire.
I don't think I'm this type of player anymore, and I try not to be.
Tumblr media
every time i see a tweet like this i think “why do you play with people like this”. like why is dnd play culture so bad that this is an Archetypal Type of Guy they all seem to recognise. can you imagine tweeting this about any other hobby?? ‘musicians: what do you do about the guy in your band who screams I HATE MUSIC and tries to eat the drumsticks every rehearsal’

Magical Setting Idea: Copper and Gunpowder
Imagine an early Bronze Age civilization that has access to more modern inventions, such as magic gunpowder that can absorb elements and potion effects. A Bronze Age civilization in a magic setting could have magic used to craft items and maybe golems that are kept to certain statuses. Perhaps even some statuses for a priest class that help make the powder and maybe even keep the legal records.
A culture made of city-states that have a kingdom of a couple surrounding towns. With the creation of permanent roads to enhance trade. With bronze tools starting to become the normal. Although leather and wood are still very popular and useful for easy repairs. Magic is seen to be an art of the priest class and the armies. While many different environments are around the area.
Like a forest civilization that's become known for its longbows made from a sacred wood that's easy to enchant. founded and run by a priest class that holds a republic amongst themselves to determine the fate of the many cities around them, with this city as a central hub they founded to hold meetings and centralize their council, at the mouth of a river connecting all their cities up. Making a very reverent class who are enshrined in their past. With them have some special worrier classes that are under the direct order of this counsel (effectively becoming generals). These special worriers have better-enchanted equipment and special wooden masks of a spirit and may honor a chosen reverent patron. All while the common people are cooking raised rabbits, quails, and barries that are made into wine for priests and rulers, with cheese and grapes seen as a luxury for the rich. While a form of mint tea is incredibly common amongst all classes. Imported spices are seen as a luxury or extravagant.
While a people who settled along a rocky coast near a prevalent trade route with a prominent copper production and holy statues set there. Founded for trade and fortification by people wanting gold and more independence from other city-states with a slight imperial cult that worships the office of the City master. with the mercenary military having prevalent statues here due to their part in setting the city up, they often have priority for filling that seat. All this is run by a pack of Mercenary houses who help the city's trade and sell themselves to the best highest-paying person. Even if they're reliant on fishing and trade for food, they have the might and infrastructure to keep their autonomy. Common food is lobster due to how common they are, sardines, and even wolf fish stew if you've had a bad day. Higher-class meals usually prioritize the quantity of trophy game fish like swordfish, giant tuna, and maybe even some glaze. Stir fries would be the exclusive food of the rich due to how expensive it is. with fermentation being a prominent industry there. Pickled sardines and pickled root stalks are extremely popular here and are often offered at temple cemeteries to honor successful ancestors. The city also seems to be less reverent towards gods, not viewing them as inherently deserving of worship.
Heck, let's even chuck in a third city-state that specializes in gunpowder warfare and agriculture. The city was founded at the mouth of a vital delta river by shunned priests and disgruntled warriors. It is governed by a council of nobility led by a "God-king" who serves as a conduit for the city's god and is believed to possess magical abilities (The king or queen is mortal and can die. The next person to assume the position becomes the new embodiment of the god, who is associated with fire, bronze, serpentine dragons, and a planet named after the god, where the god-kings and priests are said to reside after death). The God-king often has an imperial cult (A God-king or queen can ascend to divine status after death and become a part of the city's history). The city's inhabitants venerate only one god, who is believed to be dedicated solely to the well-being of the city-state. Some extremists within the religion even proclaim that this city's god is the sole deity worthy of worship. The city has developed a new gunpowder, giving alchemists special privileges. The city relies on tariff-farming grains to produce staple foods like bread and gruel. The higher class consumes fruits, pastries, and bird meat, while spicy berries are reserved for the upper class. A standing army is an attractive option due to good food, led by noble generals on behalf of the god-king, elected by the noble council or the god emperor, and swear themselves to the imperial cult.
Another factor is the bronze resources in this area. with an idea of how enchanting works in this world could be that the newly discovered bronze tools are harder to enchant. While Wood, bone, hair, feathers, and stone are far easier to enchant, but last don't last as long as it does on these new shiny bronze tools and equipment. Alongside their natural durability. The bronze would also allow easier ability to use the magical gunpowder. Maybe this world is just getting the idea of possibly creating cannons to protect their walls or begin a siege. This isn't even mentioning the various uses of this newly discovered gunpowder medium.
For example, frost-based gunpowder holds the power of frost and can flash-freeze rivers during war or a fire extinguisher for massive city fires. Or a gunpowder variant based on electricity, greatly damaging creatures wearing metal and causing mass electric serges that consume miles of river. An Earth variant would likely involve extreme expansion of earth and stone. Something like a filler agent for walls, or setting it off in a hallway to block a hallway, preventing an escape, or from being followed. Air could be like a sonic boom used to try knocking things over, or causing a massive thrust. While a fire-based version of this powder could just work like regular gunpowder. Maybe the potion-passed powder can be discovered later on in history, like a healing potion-based powder that distributes a small radius of its healing effect or a hallucinogenic smock that is produced by another.
These are examples of this setting idea. I have more, like how the cities have a pattern god or gods, the many minor gods that follow something between animism and Embodied gods. Or some ascended mortals who became something similar to angels or a powerful spirit. Or how Unreliable narrators help and hinder sources of power.
For example, let's go back to that Rock Coast civilization and give them a Legion of their founding. The legend tells the story of the great settler Velsin, who supposedly used the legendary blade Singer to slay the feared beast Shalga, gaining wealth and fame. His descendants safeguarded the blade Singer, expecting it to be used when the city faced a formidable enemy. However, the truth is that Velsin and his company went to the Shores to establish their city-state by the coast to exploit the new trade in the region, and while Velsin did kill the mighty beast Shalag, Shalga was trying to defend its home and nest. The legendary weapon Singer is genuinely magical, but is actually a spearhead, as swords were not commonly used during Velsin's time. Additionally, the present noble houses are not descended from Velsin; rather, a few decades ago, merchants overthrew the original noble families and fabricated their ancestry to connect themselves to Velsin and his legions.
Overall, I enjoy the idea of this setting. I may add more to it, but for now, I'll leave it here. If anyone has an idea or just wants to share, feel free to do so in the comments. Thank you for reading and enjoy your day.

Fandomless f×m oc×oc request.
I'm 22 years old, female, and looking for a long term 18+ rp partner, please.
My characters all have powers that are a mix of X-men, Smallvile, The Flash, Heroes, My Hero Acadamia and the Marvel universe, so atleast two of my oc's have powers that are like Wanda's, except it's mostly based on frequencies, so if you're okay with that, then awesome! They are not overpowered though; don't worry.
I write novel style rp's, so my only request is that you be as descriptive as you can and help the Rp to move forward; I'll do my best in my end. One paragraph or multiple; I don't mind. I myself can write a lot if I get the chance. I have 8 years of experience, but I've only recently started branching out more, so please be patient with me or tell me if I need to change something, please.
-
My first language is Afrikaans, so I appologise if I get some things wrong in the rp. I'll put a "(?)" if I'm not sure. And if I send a reply that does not make sense at all; either let me know or don't reply just yet. It's probably late at night and I just needed to sleep, so I'll either edit it or resend it. 🤣
-
I don't do NSFW at all; I've had roleplayers care more about that than the actual rp, so please only agree if you're okay with not having it in the Rp.
I reply quite frequently, but I understand when you get busy; I really do. I just preffer communication instead of straight silence for longer than a week or two otherwhise I'm left wondering if the rp is just a dead end or not. And let me know if it's not working out or if you want to change the rp, but I warn you now...I only have one female oc that I actively rp with; the rest are male, but are mostly for friendship or ally type roleplays. Romance is welcome, but I only do f×m.
---
I do love talking, so I love plotting and coming up with ideas, so I'm hoping to make friends atleast.
I do love friends to lovers and found family tropes.
Genres are romance, some slice of life and fantasy type.
Darker themes are okay, most of my oc's have experienced abuse and bullying, but nothing too overly dark, such as gore. I don't mind angst or drama though, but character developement and healing is something I always enjoy writing.
I love multiple rps, but only on private servers, so prefferably 1×1 rolplaying.
I used to rp on Facebook quite a lot, so all my oc bios are there, but these days I enjoy roleplaying on Discord more.
At the moment I have my female oc who is with abusive adoptive parents and is forced to use her Siren type powers to steal from people. I'd love to have her in a romance rp. Some angst/ drama or forbidden love is welcome.
I'll send you their bios first, so you can have a look.
I hope I answered everything...😅 Bit if there is anything you want to discuss further and if you're interested, you can find me on Discord at Akkin#3052.
