I believe Carmilla Carmine to be a fallen angel
As well as the fact that she has daughters when sinners can't reproduce there is an important detail I can't believe no one has brought up.
Look at her, I mean really look at her, what is something you might notice? Other than her stunning beauty
Tumblr media
An amazing lack of features she has. She has no wings, no shark teeth, no monstrous/bestial features, no horns (I was surprised to learn that her buns weren't wrapped around horns), no inorganic parts like Vox or what have you and she shares this trait with her daughters Odette and Clara. The only arguably inhuman trait are her large hands, which are not exactly a very defining trait especially since they moved away from her pilot design of having claws.
Look at the denizens of Hell:
Tumblr media
They are incredibly diverse in form, having taken on features influenced by personality, sin, time period and cause of death. Even most "basic" sinners still look like generic devils.
Tumblr media
(I used Mrs. Mayberry from Helluva Boss because she is the best shot of a "devil" sinner but they are seen often as background characters in Hazbin Hotel as well).
Now there is an exception to this though: Velvette
Tumblr media
Now with her, I believe that is less a lore reason and more an artistic design choice since it is apparent her outfit and hairstyle is going to be different in every appearance she has so they left out any extra features to make that easier for the animators.
Tumblr media
She is essentially a blank canvas for the animators to play dress up doll with, but she does still lack a nose which makes her a little less human looking than Carmilla.
Now getting back to Carmilla's daughters, even if Odette and Clara also died at the same time as Carmilla which is why they are together in Hell, the chances that they wouldn't have enough variables to have any unique features of their own feels slim, did these three really have so little variation in personality and sin one of them wouldn't look a little more monstrous?
Tumblr media
Some have pointed out the horns they have are probably fake, with Odette's being her hairband, which with Carmilla's hair buns seem to almost be an attempt to "fit in" with the sinners.
Overall as many have brought up, the Carmines have more in common with Vaggie design wise with how few unique features they have, and we all know what Vaggie's deal turned out to be.
Anyway that's my two cents and I'd love to know your thoughts if you have any.

To add more fuel to the Carmilla is a fallen angel theory, when I first saw the pilot for hazbin god knows how many years ago, the first thing I thought when I saw this scene was wow, those look like wings, perhaps a fallen angel???

For the FALL au can we see the reunion between Carmilla and Sera after Emily's stunt and kidnapping
Sera didn't want to go to Hell herself. In fact, she'd done everything in her power to avoid doing just that. Lucifer is amenable to her plight to get Emily back, but a non-fallen angel descending to Hell of her own volition is outside his wheelhouse. Emily is not his subject. He has no jurisdiction over her. Despite Sera requesting his aid, he can't force the young angel to leave.
The best he can do for Sera is tell her Emily's location. Carmilla had made Emily's presence known to him as soon as the girl revealed her identity. That she's Sera's...and Carmilla's daughter. Lucifer had let Sera know that Emily is safe in Carmilla's care. Sera fell to her knees at the news. Emily's alive. She's okay. She'd actually found Carmilla.
She should be happy. She should be joyful. That her daughter had found her other parent at last, and on her own, no less. The thing she'd wanted for them both, for Emily's entire life, had finally come to pass.
But she is the opposite of those things, because now the reunion between her and Carmilla is inevitable, and she isn't certain how she's going to face her beloved after 10,000 agonizing years apart.
There is nothing else to be done about it, though. Sera opens a portal, directly to the Heaven embassy, and meets Lucifer at the crossroads. He directs her to Carmilla's home on the edge of Pentagram City, a sprawling, heavily fortified compound protected on all sides by cameras and a fence forged of angelic steel. Sera and Lucifer dematerialize, reforming on the other side of the barrier, as easily as water flows around a log. Lucifer knocks on the tall, foreboding structure that is the front door of the Carmine estate. The sound of Lucifer's small knuckles hitting the hard surface seems foreboding.
The door opens, and the angels are greeted by a younger blond woman who, after laying eyes on Sera, nearly falls backward into the entryway in shock. Not surprising, given how she and Lucifer had just shown up out of the blue. She looks like she certainly hadn't been expecting Sera's presence at her door. Sera should chastise Lucifer for not announcing their arrival, at the very least.
Lucifer apologizes for showing up without calling first, and the woman, whom Sera learns is named Odette, gulps heavily. She doesn't even seem to hear anything Lucifer just said. She's still too busy looking up at Sera.
"Oh, no, it's...!" Odette starts. She shakes her head, tries again. "No, no, your majesty. It's fine! It's perfectly fine! Please, let me...you and your...guest can follow me. Mother's been expecting you."
Mother? Sera thinks, lips twisting up in confusion. Does she mean...certainly not...?
Odette leads the two to a large sitting room filled with comfortable couches. The room is dark and cast in an almost supernatural shadow, even with the fiery red hue that creeps into the interior from the sky outside. Nothing about the setting is welcoming or warm. Sera suspects one can only do so much to make a dwelling in Hell appear inviting.
But despite knowing where she is, Sera can see all of Carmilla's little touches about the place that make it most definitely hers. From the choice of artwork, images of dancers and majestic birds adorning the walls, and the pearly white color of the furniture that she's sitting on -- everything is very reminiscent of Heaven. Of home. It gives Carmilla's homesickness away, even if no one else but Sera could recognize it for what it is.
As if conjured up by the power of her thoughts alone, Sera, Lucifer, and Odette's attention is quickly drawn away by Carmilla suddenly entering the room. She's followed closely by another young woman with light hair and dark skin, named Clara, and then finally, Emily, bringing up the rear and poking her head around the corner as if to assess the safety of the space before entering.
Sera has to physically restrain her instinct to leap up and grab Emily into her arms. The only thing stopping her is the sight of Carmilla standing there, which is like a one-two punch straight to the processing centers of her brain. The mother in her wants to embrace her daughter. The lover in her is transfixed by this...person standing in front of her. One that very obviously resembles the Carmilla she remembers, but who is also so different; it's like she walked right out of a different spectrum of reality entirely.
The hair, the eyes, the expression, the outfit, the air of regret and aloofness floating around Carmilla's form like a heavy fog...all of it is unfamiliar. Where is her spirit? Where is her light? It's like every molecule of angelic essence has been sucked out of her, leaving behind a shell of the woman she used to know. What happened? After all this time...what has this place done to her beloved?
"Mom!" Emily screeches, eyes widening in delight at seeing Sera. Sera doesn't have to get up and greet her, after all. Emily launches herself into Sera's arms, drawing the Seraphim out of her mental evaluation of Carmilla, and hugs her tightly around the waist. Emily cries tears of relief and happiness into her birth mother's pure white robes. They soak into the fabric, but Sera can't bring herself to care.
"Emily! Oh, my girl! Don't ever make me worry like that again!"
Sera wraps her arms around Emily, in turn. But she can't be distracted by this reunion for long. Not at the overstimulation of seeing the two most precious people to her...in the same room together, as if it's just so normal. The weight of it is like an electric bolt to her psyche.
"Mom!" Emily shouts again, drawing Sera's attention back down to her, smiling a grin so wide that it nearly tears the girl's face in two. Emily gestures at Carmilla. "I found her, Mom! I found Carm--Mama! She's been here the whole time! Isn't that wonderful?!"
Carmilla barely shifts her eyes in their direction, appearing as if she'd been trying to ignore Sera's presence until now. She'd been noticeably avoiding eye contact, but now that Emily's acknowledged her presence, those unfamiliar red eyes bore directly into Sera's soul. They hold very little of the warmth or affection she's used to; none directed at her, anyway. When she looks at Emily, that protectiveness and sincerity shines through. Right then, she looks like Carmilla...her old self.
But upon meeting Sera's gaze, the fallen angel appears as if she'd rather be anywhere but here at that moment. Face stern and arms crossed. Posture firm and immobile. Unamused. Annoyed.
What's wrong with her? Sera asks herself. Why does she look like she doesn't recognize me? Like she doesn't even see me?
"Carmilla..."
Sera stands. She hesitates, wondering if she should really do what her body is desperately telling her to do. Rush to her. Embrace her. Make her see that it's her.
Sera doesn't do that. She's not sure how well that would go over. But against her better judgement, she allows herself an ounce of hope that she's not overstepping a boundary. Convinces herself to take a tentative step toward the other woman; the one she used to love with every part of her being. The one she hopes, despite all the mixed signals she's sending her, still loves her, even if her body language at the moment isn't showing it.
Maybe she's embarrassed, Sera thinks. Carmilla was never one for overt displays of affection. It's been so long...maybe she just doesn't know how to react to seeing her again...maybe if Sera just shows her...
Sera's hopes are dashed when Carmilla takes a very definitive step back as she approaches. Unable to stop herself, Sera advances again, taking a few more steps toward her, and then reeling when Carmilla violently wrenches her body away. Carmilla practically twirls away to avoid contact, right before the other woman can even think about touching her.
"Carmilla! What--? It's me! Sera! Don't you remember?"
The sound that comes out of Sera's mouth at her query resembles a strangled whine. Like a childish plea. Why is Carmilla rejecting her? What has she done wrong? Why won't she just answer her?
Carmilla just looks at Sera with an expression as cold and disheartened as ice. As if Sera has done something to personally slight her. But she hasn't...Sera just got here! What could she have possibly done in the last two minutes to garner this kind of reaction?
"Carmilla..." she pleads again. "I beg of you. Please tell me what's wrong. Whatever it is...we can work through this. Please, my love, I promise I can fix it."
Sera reaches for her again. One final time. Pleading. Begging without words. But Carmilla turns away. Directly away, so she's no longer even facing her or Emily now, in a true sign of repudiation.
"You can't fix this!"
The first direct sentence Sera has heard from Carmilla in 10,000 years is like a fire iron stabbed directly into the Seraphim's heart. Carmilla's voice is so deep and raspy in her throat, like she's been screaming for hours, and her voice is raw from the effort. It's miserable. It's unrecognizable.
"You can't fix this." Carmilla repeats, more calm and stoic now. "I know. I've tried. For years. It never works. You don't belong here. Neither of you do. Now please leave. Before it's too late."
"Mama?" Emily implores of Carmilla, confused by the sudden change in Carmilla's demeanor. But not even the girl can break through the wall Carmilla has erected around herself. Just like the empire she's built down here, it will take more than a girl and a lost lover to permanently tear that barrier down.
Without even facing the two of them, Carmilla starts sobbing heavily, shoulders shaking. It's the most sincere emotion Sera has seen from her during this entire encounter, and it makes her heart break all over again.
"It was wonderful getting to meet you, Emily," Carmilla says weakly through her tears. "I will cherish these last few days for the rest of my life. But I'm afraid there are some things that can't be fixed. Can't be made right, no matter how much you want it. It's best for all of us if both of you leave now. Please...I can't bear it any longer."
"Carmilla, what--just talk to me! You don't know what you're saying! My love, we can--"
Carmilla cuts Sera off short.
"NO! LEAVE!"
Before even Lucifer can stop her, Carmilla is out the door, and disappearing down the hallway. Everyone she leaves behind can hear the heavy doors of the mansion slam behind her as she exits; they all remain there in the sitting room, silent for a very long time, confusion permeating the space.
Sera hugs Emily tighter to her as the girl cries into her robes. Sera blames herself. This is all her fault. She wonders where in all the realms she went wrong.

I find the parallels between Vaggie/Charlie and Carmilla/Zestial to be really neat.
Vaggie and Carmilla both leapt to the defense of Charlie and Zestial. Both bite their tongue at danger and disrespect directed towards themselves, but when who they care about is the one being threatened, they react with no hesitation or composure to defend them.
In conjunction, Charlie and Zestial are both more powerful than Vaggie and Carmilla (even if this is more strongly implied in Zestial’s case). Yet they seem so much more hesitant to act on this power. Charlie explicitly hates using her royal status or fighting people, while Zestial just endures Velvette’s insults and questioning, only making small verbal defenses of his position. Not to mention how they’re both much older than Vaggie and Carmilla. Charlie is a slow aging immortal and Zestial is the oldest living Overlord and is on the regular described as ancient.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Charlie and Zestial both see themselves as someone Vaggie and Carmilla should confide in. Charlie isn’t upset that Vaggie was Exorcist, rather that she never told her. While Zestial “implores [Carmilla] to share the load.” He’s worried about this weight she’s carrying by herself, and wants to support her. I imagine Charlie felt similarly, Vaggie has been carrying her secret in silence for years, and with Charlie dedicating her life to helping others, it must her to know someone she’s so close to has been hurting this long.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Ain’t you supposed to protect this place?”
“I’ll keep you safe, and keep this secret.”
There’s also how their ‘protector role’ seems completely self assigned. I highly doubt Charlie ever wanted Vaggie to be her personal guard, and Zestial reacts in surprise at being included with who Carmilla is ‘keeping safe.’ If you take Zestial’s reaction (or lack their of) to Velevette, you could make the point they do this because Charlie and him are unlikely to defend themselves (or at the very least hesitate to do so). Which I think speaks to the intrinsic sense of duty Vaggie and Carmilla have.

Zestmilla week Day 1: History/ Early meeting
I think Carmilla used to be an exorcist. But the problem is that her daughters were sent to Hell, separating them. On one of the Extermination Days she recognized her daughters as the sinners she was about to kill. They soon reunited.
As a caring mother, Carmilla went to Hell more often, without Heaven knowing. Her visits became a routine. In the beginning, it didn't always go smoothly. Like one time, she hid her wings, but left her halo on. And as her luck had it, she bumped into Zestial. He could have done anything to her, but he was surprisingly understanding of her situation. He offered to help Carmilla.
Now the question is, why would an overlord like Zestial help someone who annually comes down to his home to kill souls then go back up and enjoy enthernal paradise? The answer is that he could see that Carmilla was different. She might have been an exorcist, but she was also a mother. And a good one. She could be up in heaven, enjoying her afterlife, instead, she is down there, looking for her daughters to keep them safe. This attracted Zestial.
Carmilla had every right to refuse, because still, Zestial was a stranger. But on the other hand, he could have hurt her or her daughters. But he offered to help. And he is a gentleman around her. Love at first sight.
Anyways, Carmilla trusted Zestial, and Zestial helped keeping Clara and Odette safe, while their mother was in Heaven, doing her job.
Years went by like this and Carmilla and Zestial started having more serious feelings for each other. They soon started dating, resulting in Carmilla spending more time in Heaven then in Hell which Heaven noticed.
When Carmilla returned to Heaven, she found herself on a trial. Heaven has eyes everywhere. And at the end of the trial, Carmilla was found guilty for going to Hell without permission (but that was forgiven because it was for her daughters) and for falling in love with not only a sinner, but an overlord. For this, her punishment was that her memories of Zestial were all removed, her wings were cut off and they took her halo. She was stripped from every of her traits that would indicate that she was an angel. Then she was cast out of Heaven, making her a fallen angel.
Some time after her fall, Carmilla finally found her daughters again, but not knowing who Zestial was, she didn't trust him then. Zestial soon realized that his girlfriend's memories of him were gone and thought it would be much easier to start again than rebuilding their relationship how it was. So he asked Odette and Clara not today anything about their past relationship to Carmilla.

Hazbin Hotel - Carmilla x Rosie - Ethereal
TW: 18+
Winner, winner, some sinners dinner… or Rosie witnesses Carmillas fall from Heaven…
The horizon of Hell glowed an unspoiled red, a balmy breeze blew and this peaceful evening reminded Rosie of those warm summer nights when she was still alive in Louisiana.
Rosie sighed with satisfaction. With her parasol over her shoulder, she strolled alone with slow steps along the outskirts of Cannibal Town. Among the many abandoned factory buildings of the former industrial site, the cannibal was the only roaming soul. She was enjoying the pleasantly warm evening, the peaceful silence and her time alone during her well-earned stroll after a hard day's work in her Emporium.
Suddenly, the cannibal suppressed a shiver. The balmy breeze had turned into an icy cold wind as the flowers in the sparsely planted beds bent their heads. Rosie shivered, her body trembling with cold. She grimaced slightly in surprise, since the heat of Hell was usually unbearable, an uncomfortable torment for all sinners.
"What in the name of Lucifer?" Startled, Rosie stopped, her eyes widening in disbelief. "That's impossible..." she whispered, her senses were playing a very poor prank on her. She crouched down in front of the flowerbed at the side of the path and watched with wonder at the growing ice flowers and the sparkling frost that suddenly covered the red roses and red poppies under a delicate layer of ice.
"How is that possible?" Rosie stretched out her fingers. At the gentle touch of her warm fingertips, the fragile petals immediately shattered into thousand shards of ice. "Frost is absolutely impossible in Hell..." muttered Rosie, her voice still full of disbelief. She quickly withdrew her hand, the cold burning her skin and her heart racing in her chest. "But they're gorgeous," she hummed to herself as the ice flowers continued to grow and spread.
The hellish heat became noticeably colder and Rosie wrapped her arms protectively around her body to shield it from the increasing cold.
Startled, Rosie gasped as a snowflake suddenly landed on the tip of her nose. She looked up at the surrounding sky in astonishment, the horizon fading from red to blue as more and more white snowflakes fell from purple clouds. Snowflake after snowflake danced through the air in frantic spins and landed in Hell. Slowly, a thin layer of powdered icing covered the abandoned factory buildings.
"A snow flurry?" Rosie held out her hands. She stared in amazement at the snowflakes that landed on her palms and began to melt after a few seconds, leaving only small puddles of water behind. "This is real snow..."
Snow in Hell...
"Snow in Hell!" the cannibal repeated the words in disbelief. A laugh filled with excitement escaped her lips. The last time she had seen snow was decades ago, during her lifetime on earth. "This... This is magic!" She stretched out her arms and spun on the spot, the snow crunching under the soles of her boots as she leaned her head back and felt the snowflakes falling on her skin. It was a cold contrast to the hellish heat. "As if Hell itself had forgotten its own nature..." Rosie breathed, her breath hanging in thin wafts of mist in the air. Hell had acid rain, thunderstorms with gorenados and painbows, but no snow.
The air was crackling with cold. The purple clouds grew darker and darker.
Without warning, the horizon suddenly lit up with a blinding light. With a crash, lightning split the horizon of Hell, for a few seconds the dense cloud cover seemed to burst into thousands of pieces, the drum roll of dark thunder accompanied the strange weather phenomenon.
Rosie blinked, rooted to the spot, and stared up at the heavenly spectacle. At the blink of an eye, the cannibal was as if she could make out the blurred outlines of a figure among all the gloomy clouds. The wind picked up and the snow flurry increased.
Heaven shimmered. The light from the stars flickered. Lightning split the skies again and again.
Suddenly, a figure clearly emerged from the silhouettes of the dense clouds in the high distance. Enveloped in a dazzling glow of light, like a shooting star or a star that had detached itself from the firmament, a figure fell towards Hell.
As the figure descended faster and faster in its fall towards the ground, Rosie recognized the unmistakably ethereal outline of glorious wings.
An angel was falling towards Hell.
Rosie's breath caught in a startled gasp as the angel made a last desperate attempt to cushion the impact with a flutter of her wings before she protectively folded her wings around her own body and crashed through the roof of a factory building in a blast of snow and dust and divine light.
The fall was followed by an eerie silence. The horizon of Hell shone again in an unspoiled red, with only snowflakes still drizzling from purple clouds.
Rosie could hear her heart beating in her ears, her heart was racing in her chest and her thoughts were racing in confusion.
An angel had fallen, from Heaven.
Here, into Hell.
Right now, almost before Rosie's feet.
Rosie took off running. The snow crunched under her boots as she sprinted for the factory building where the angel had crashed.
The factory building was deserted. A collapsed chain-link fence stretched around the weathered building. Stacks of junk barricaded the entrance, while the huge iron doors had also been locked with heavy iron chains and a rusty lock to keep out unwanted intruders. The ugly gray paint had already faded in the constant hellish sun and was peeling off the metal walls in shreds. Brown moss and black poison ivy clung to the outer walls. Parts of the crooked roof had collapsed, holes gaped in the side walls and some buffoon had stolen the hollow letters that had visibly proclaimed the name of the company on the front of the factory building.
Rosie peered cautiously into the factory building. Specks of dust danced together in pairs in the fading light that filtered in through the perforated walls. A huge hole gaped in the rotten ceiling, through which the snowflakes drizzled dreamily and the hellish horizon shone. Bent nails and screws protruded from the concrete walls and there was broken glass everywhere. Black mold crawled out of the corners between the shadows. It reeked dreadfully with damp.
Rosie wrinkled her nose in disgust as suddenly an incredible smell, so heavenly sweet, crept into her nose and inevitably made the cannibal's mouth water. She had never smelled such an enchanting smell before in Hell, but then she saw the gleam of golden blood in the darkness of the building.
Quickly, Rosie slipped through the nearest hole in the wall. She crept quietly through the shadows of the disused machines, following the strong smell of the ichor to a crater in the concrete floor beneath the hole in the ceiling.
Shocked, Rosie pressed her hand over her mouth as a startled cry threatened to escape her lips. In the middle of the crater on her knees and in the snowfall sat the fallen angel.
"By Lucifer..." whispered Rosie in awe as she stared wide-eyed at the fallen angel in disbelief. She was beautiful, her beauty almost beyond description. Long white hair fell in waves over her shoulders. Her white dress was torn and soaked all over with ichor. Rosie was convinced that she must surely be a gift from Heaven with her beauty, her golden blood smelling truly seductive.
All around her, golden ichor and white feathers stuck to the cold concrete, she had her back turned towards Rosie and the cannibal stared at her wings in shock. They looked terrible. They bent into various unnatural angles, they had definitely been broken in the fall. Between bald patches, the bare skin underneath, disheveled feathers stuck out in all directions.
"Oh, you poor thing...," Rosie murmured with pity as she watched the root of evil further tarnish the angel's divine beauty.
Eye upon eye, hundreds of them slowly emerged from the dark walls. They stared down at the angel in their midst with glowing gazes. Frantic voices hissed and whispered in an ancient language in the darkness, while the white feathers of her wings slowly turned black.
"Let go of me!" The angel screamed in pain as she struggled in vain against the corruption. "I don't belong here!"
Trembling fingers clutched desperately at a broad sword forged from angelic steel. She quickly raised her sword above her head, her arms trembling and her muscles spasming. She placed the blade on the stump of her wings. With a desperate cry, she tried with the blade to sever her corrupted wings from her back, but the blade stopped bluntly at the bone. Golden blood ran down her back, coating her hands and causing the sword to slip from her quivering palms.
The blade clattered to the concrete floor as the corruption took root. It wrapped itself around the angel's fingers, staining her fingertips black. It covered her palms in blackness and snaked along her forearms, the pain burning like red-hot iron. Tear after tear, glittering like diamonds, ran down her cheeks and dripped into her lap. The angel screamed louder as the corruption etched itself deep into her flesh, submerging the web of her veins in deep blackness. Even her snow-white hair was now streaked with black strands.
Wave after wave of cold washed over her body as, piece by piece, pure evil threatened to consume the divine being. Her whole body heaved. She writhed in pain before forcibly submitting to the corruption. The angel braced herself against the cold concrete as black and gold mingled.
Rosie's hands clenched into fists, the sight of the fallen angel was no longer bearable for the cannibal. Her heart raced in her chest and her mind panicked, telling her to run as she dared to leave her cover. With quick steps, Rosie rushed into the crater. Before the angel could react, Rosie grabbed the sword.
"Get lost, you cursed creature, or I will kill you!" the angel shouted as the cannibal stood armed before her. Fear reflected in her eyes, the fear of Rosie. She tried in vain to back away from her. "Go away, please..." she begged in a brittle voice. She stifled a sob, while tears ran freely over her cheeks.
"Hey..." Rosie whispered softly. She lowered the sword. "I promise I won't hurt you."
"A promise from a sinner like you is utterly worthless!" the angel snarled. Protectively, she wrapped her broken wings around the rest of her body. Her words trembled on her tongue. "If you want to kill me, then do it already!"
"I don't want to kill you..." Rosie dropped the sword and held out her helping hand to the angel instead. "What's your name?" she asked gently. "I'm Rosie," she introduced herself. She flashed the angel a sharp smile.
The angel hesitated. Although she refused Rosie's offered hand, she at least answered Rosie's question about her name. "I-I'm C-Carmilla..."
Rosie clasped her hands together. "All right, Carmilla, please tell me how I can help you," she demanded softly.
"You can't help me!" Vigorously, Carmilla shook her head. "I'm a fallen angel. No one can help me now, I've ended up in Hell and I'll never be able to get back home..."
Suddenly the murmurs and whispers of voices from the darkness grew louder again. The glowing gazes of more and more emerging eyes glared enraged at Rosie as the corruption spread over Carmilla's body again. The blackness crawled and climbed under her skin and her entire body writhed under the violent pain.
"You can't think like that or the root of evil will consume you wholly!" scolded Rosie sternly. Her warm hands quickly caught Carmilla by her shoulders before the angel could topple over. "I can help you," she promised her again and again as she looked into her eyes. "Please let me help you, Milly," she begged.
"M-My wings..." panted Carmilla, looking at Rosie with a glazed gaze of desperate determination. "M-My wings... They are the source of my corruption, with every passing second it spreads further and further throughout my body. The pain is unbearable," she whispered weakly. Her voice was less than a whisper and the last light was already flickering in her eyes. She was breathing heavily. "You have to... to cut off my wings... Please, Rosie, cut them off..."
"Milly, are you sure?" Rosie asked anxiously. "If I do that, you'll lose your wings for all eternity."
"I am aware of that," Carmilla answered. "But they've been rendered useless by my fall... I don't think they'd heal fully, and besides, they'd only attract the attention of other sinners."
"All right, I'll do it." Resolutely, Rosie picked up the sword from the ground and stepped behind the angel. As a sign of additional support, she placed her free hand on Carmilla's shoulder and squeezed gently to reassure her. "I need you to tell me if you want me to stop if the pain is getting unbearable. Ready?"
"Yes...," Carmilla breathed shakily as Rosie placed the blade. She closed her eyes and held her breath.
"I'll be as quick and clean as possible," the cannibal promised in a calm voice.
Carmilla's screams of pain echoed through the deserted factory building as Rosie worked with grim efficiency, slicing through the tough flesh. Feathers fluttered before her feet and Ichor coated her hand. Reluctantly, the cannibal resisted the urge to lick the golden blood from her fingers. She wanted to end Carmilla's suffering as quickly as possible.
"It's over," Rosie spoke softly as Carmilla's wings finally lay severed from her body on the ground. Her free hand still rested on Carmilla's shoulder for reassurance, the other lowering the blade. "You're free from them now..."
Carmilla lifted her head. She breathed heavily as tears mingled with golden blood on her cheeks. "T-Thank you, Ro-" Before the fallen angel could finish her sentence, Carmilla passed out in Rosie's arms, weakened from her high blood loss and her pain.
"Don't worry, Milly, you're safe with me," Rosie whispered, delicately brushing one of the black and white discolored strands from her face and behind her ear, while snow kept falling. "I swear I'll protect you from all of Hell," she promised, placing a gentle kiss on Carmilla's forehead.

For the people who believe in the Carmilla Carmine is an angel theory I noticed this frame during whatever it takes a real blink and you’ll miss it moment where her eyebrow has a white aura around it.
Tumblr media
It looks very similar to sera’s aura we see in welcome to heaven and I haven’t seen a demon with a white aura yet just sayin.
Tumblr media
For all my fallen angel Carmilla Carmine truthers.

Guys I think Wikipedia is a theorist either. Look at Carmilla! Or Carmilla was really a fallen angel and I wasn't know?
Do you think Carmilla is really a fallen angel? What do you think?

im bored so y’all are getting some hazbin hcs
Alastor is aroace and agender but he does not know it he has no clue what ANY of those words mean
Rosie actually knows that Alastor is all of those but to fuck with him she doesn’t tell him however she will from time to time call him one of those (for example when she says she knows Alastor is an ace in the hole)
Alastor and Rosie are in a qpr!
Velvette and Vox are besties they will gossip about everyone and everything
Velvette is a non-binary lesbian who uses she/her
EVERYONE in hell assume that the vees are a polycule and for the chaos they never correct anyone
Velvette barely tolerates Valentino and would like to beat the shit out of him at any given time
Ok I have to restrain myself with Velvette so last one even though Vox has beef with Alastor to everyone’s shock she hangs out with him every once and a while over some tea
Lute is aroace but she and Adam are « dating» bc people kept asking Lute out would never take no for an answer and it was making her uncomfortable
Despite everything Adam does care for Lute and is a good friend towards her hence why he agreed to the fake dating plan
Vaggie before getting her wings back would get HORRIBLE phantom pain from them and whenever Charlie would ask what was up she would always dodge the questions and Charlie wanting to respect her gfs boundaries wouldn’t push to much
Vaggies love language is acts of service and Charlie’s is physical touch
Charlie ADORES Vaggies wings she thinks they make her gf even more gorgeous then she already is
Vaggie is actually insecure of her wings as they remind her of a past she’s rather forget but Charlie fawning over them does make her like her wings a bit more
If Charlie is cold Vaggie will use her wings to make her warmer
After the battle against the exorcist Vaggie went back to thank Carmilla for her help and the two got to talking and ended bonding now they meet weekly at Carmillas to practice battle together (the both enjoy it greatly) and sometimes it leads to Vaggie staying for dinner
Carmilla Carmine is essentially Vaggies mom/mentor
Vaggie bonded with Carmillas daughters and they see eachother as sisters
Charlie will sometimes head over to cannibal town to give Rosie a visit and she now calls Rosie Auntie all the time
Vaggie brought Charlie to meet Carmilla and Charlie brought Vaggie to meet Rosie (both were super nervous to meet each others respective mom/aunt figure worried they wouldn’t approve)
Husk and Cherri used to hate eachother but after Angel forced them to hang out they grew to like eachother in a I hate u and hope u die/affectionate type of way
Angel does Cherris hair and I will not elaborate
Angel can’t cook for shit and almost set the hotel on fire many times (he’s now banned from the kitchen)
Vaggie however is a great chef!
Husk taught all the members of the hotel who didn’t already know how to play poker, poker
The hotel guests now have game night which is usually the entire cast struggling while Alastor, Husk and Vaggie sweep and have a rivalry between themselves the others are trying tho!
Alastor also taught the residents chess
Nifty eats the pieces
Im not elaborating on that last one
Vaggie and Angel actually like one another (PLATONICALLY) even considering one another one of their closest friends but neither would ever admit it out loud
Alright now that that's said Angel and Vaggie have mini cooking lessons in secret (WITHOUT ANY FIRE for safety reasons ofc) so Angel can make food for his friends
Lucifer and Vaggie actually bonded a lot especially given both are fallen angels
When Lucifer found out why Vaggie was cast out and how Vaggie had to physically restrain him from (somehow don’t question how he'd even be able to get to heaven to do it) beating the shit out of Lute
Shickingly Lucifer, nifty and Husk are friends and hang out
in fact Lucifer knew Husk before the hotel and had already grown fond of him
Sir Pentious and Charlie are besties
Charlie was the first person who Sir Pentious actually told he liked Cherri (the others still knew but like he actually told Charlie)
Sir Pentious makes Alastor babysit the egg bois after the outing he had with them a while back
Sir Pentious does like Emily but she kinda makes him sad as she reminds him so much of Charlie and he cant see her anymore given she's currently in hell
Razzle was always super attached to Charlie but Dazzle wierdly enough got super attached to Vaggie making her even angrier with Lute when she killed him
Imma end the hcs here cause this is already a shit tone lol

Hmmm after Emily learns the truth about WHO her mothers are, wouldn’t she also want to know how and why they got together? Wouldn’t she want to know the REAL reason behind Carmilla’s fall? And wouldn’t Sera feel obligated to tell her everything (within reason Emily doesn’t have to hear about their love life) because she’s kept Emily in the dark for so long now Sera must face these bright and unbearable realities. Like how she had to hide her pregnancy from the elders. How different Carmilla is from the slander spread by the elders. And Emily notices an unsettling trend with each answer she receives. The elders keep coming back as a point of conflict.
This is slowly turning into a merger with the Homophobic Heaven/Carmilla Fell Later AU, because I am really enthralled with the idea of how Carmilla fell in that timeline, not as a follower of Lucifer, but because she loved Sera so much. These two may eventually be one and the same AU, so just a heads-up if you're noticing a lot of similarities between the two. My brain was already rolling with angsty thoughts of how to describe Carmilla's falling to Emily, and it just came out that way. I may end up making a fic out of this somehow, if I can wrangle the two timelines together and make it make sense. There's just something about Carmilla and/or Sera having a secret daughter, combined with religious guilt and convoluted, angsty confessions of love for their children that gets me in a WAY. Tell me I'm not the only one!
"How did you and Carmilla meet, Mom?"
Emily's been asking a lot of questions lately. That's to be expected -- the very nature of Emily's relationship with Sera has been turned on its head. The younger Seraphim is making up for a lifetime of not knowing how she really fits into Sera's life, and it's the least Sera can do to fill in the blanks for her.
This particular question makes Sera smile a little. She hasn't thought about how she met Carmilla in so long. She has so many fond memories of those times...probably the only truly wonderful, carefree days she's had since Carmilla fell.
"I had just been appointed High Seraphim," Sera says. "It was only me back then. Carmilla was in charge of Heaven's holy arms. They weren't called Exorcists yet...this was before Adam took over, before Lucifer fell...even before the Garden was a place humans could dwell. Carmilla and I were both so young, and I was what you might call...a workaholic. I was stubborn in my ways, and only cared about making Heaven perfect. That's what I was created for. It was a lonely existence."
Emily is listening to Sera with rapt attention. The younger Seraphim has never known Heaven to be without its strict enforcers, without Winners, without all the pomp and circumstance of the nobles and elders who would bring down the proverbial hammer on anyone caught getting out of line.
Sera thinks, things had so much simpler back then. Right had been right, wrong had been wrong, and nuance did not yet exist.
Until Carmilla had taught her differently.
"Carmilla was always a dreamer, like Lucifer. She was also much too smart for her own good. Always inventing things, imagining things...wonderful things, but also things that could kill an angel, if she wasn't careful. That's how we were introduced. She was experimenting with some new contraption she'd built...something she probably shouldn't have been testing so close to a noble's house, if I'm being honest. Some Dominion angel or another who would throw a fit if even one of the flowers in his garden got trampled."
Emily giggles. She knows exactly the types of angels Sera is talking about. The uppercrust of angelic society. The Lord's favorites.
"There was a complaint filed by this particular...individual, and when I arrived to investigate, Carmilla and this gentleman were...having a bit of a spat out in an empty field. It looked like a few punches had been thrown, because they were both covered in scrapes and bruises. The moment I laid eyes on her...I knew she was going to be trouble."
Emiliy gasps. "They did not! Did he hit her?!"
"Oh, I'm sure he did, but you should have seen the other fellow...he was in much worse shape than Carmilla was."
This particular memory sends warm, mushy pangs of fondness directly to Sera's heart. Even though she hadn't thought it at the time...she'd always admired Carmilla's ability to defend herself. To not take any bullshit from anyone for any reason.
"I asked what was going on, and the Dominion complained that this 'ruffian soldier' was experimenting with deadly weapons on his property. When I asked if this was true, Carmilla didn't even attempt to deny it. She made me aware that it wasn't his property, though, and come to find out, she was right. He had tried to remove her by force, and she had retaliated. In the end, both were charged with misdemeanor crimes. Carmilla spent a few days in a jail cell...her sentence would have been longer, but I pulled some strings to get her out early. Heaven's army couldn't be without its commander, after all."
Emily shoots Sera a particular look. Like she knows Sera probably had ulterior motives, that had absolutely nothing to do with Heaven's army, and everything to do with the fact that Sera was fond of Carmilla.
"Uh huh. Suuuuure, I totally buy that excuse. There was no other reason for you to get her out?" Emily quips.
"Well...yes, but I didn't know it at the time! We had just met, and I...I felt sorry for her! It didn't have anything to do with love yet."
"Yet," Emily repeats, grinning like a maniac. "You are so transparent, Se--Mom! It's not even funny!"
Sera rolls her eyes in defeat. "Fine! Yes, something about her was...intriguing, even back then. And as soon as they let her out, she came directly back to me...to thank me, so she said. But...she started coming back every day! And I let her! It was all downhill from there..."
"OoOooOooh! You liiiiiked her!" Emily starts poking into Sera's sides, jibing at her mother to just admit what she's slowly building up to saying anyway. Sera turns toward her and starts jabbing at Emily with her fingers instead. Emily giggles, shouting, "I give! I give!" when Sera won't let up.
Sera smirks. "Now are you going to let me finish?"
"Yes! Just get to it, already!"
"As I was saying..." Sera starts, looking over at Emily to make sure she won't interrupt again. Emily swipes over her lips like she's locking something up tight, and pretends to throw away the key over her shoulder.
"Thank you. As I was saying...Carmilla started coming to visit me every day. At first, it was to thank me with words...then gifts...then invitations to go out on the town. To treat me, she said. I had never once been on a...date, before, even though we never called it that. We would never use those words within earshot of anyone. And before too long...she admitted she had feelings for me, and I didn't know how to respond. I shut her out, denied it, for so long. But she was stubborn. She never gave up on me. And eventually...Heaven, it was probably years, or decades later, after we'd fought and made up about it several times. Eventually, she convinced me that she really loved me...and I had to admit to myself that I loved her back."
Sera pauses for just a moment, reliving the memory in all of its warm, fuzzy details, and then looks over at Emily, who is staring back at her, eyes huge and glossed over, like she's about to cry. She's holding her hand over her mouth, to keep from interrupting again. Sera smiles at her.
But then Sera looks down, at her lap, and braces herself. She knows the tone of her story is about to take a dark, desolate turn...she's readying herself for it, so she can get past these painful memories for her daughter...so her girl will finally know the truth.
"Carmilla and I loved each other very much. I felt guilty about it, at first. Heaven had always taught me that same-sex relationships were dirty, and wrong, and sinful...but over time, she taught me there was nothing remotely wrong with what we had. And I believed her. How could there be anything dirty about us loving each other with everything we had, heart, body, and soul?"
Sera pauses again. Things are about to go south pretty quickly, and she's readying herself, and Emily for it -- for real, this time.
"We had...well, we did things that people in love do. It went on like that for years. Maybe we got cocky, or weren't careful enough, thinking we would never get caught. But someone must have seen us, at some point...or put two and two together. They never implicated me in the act...but someone told the elders Carmilla had a female lover. They took her into custody immediately. They did...so many horrible things to her. Tortured her. I begged with her to come clean, and just tell them it was me, and maybe I could get us both a lesser sentence for cooperation or good behavior. But she wouldn't have any of it."
Sera is the one crying now. Toward the end of that last statement, her voice wavers, and tears start falling down her face in rivers. The old wounds in her heart are slowly being ripped open again at the telling of this story, bleeding anew. She does her best to keep it together, for Emily. But reliving these memories is not easy for her, no matter how much she wants Emily to know.
"They gave her a sham trial. Everyone knew the result before it ended. Lucifer had fallen not long before this, so I knew what was coming before it happened. I watched them...I watched them push her. She fell, right over the edge, like she was nothing. She was my everything. They made an example of her...a spectacle of her. Just like they did with Lucifer and his followers. And right before she went down, she told me she loved me one last time. And then she was gone. And somehow, that made it so much worse."
Sera is actually sobbing now. Crying ugly, wet tears into her hands, trying to keep Emily from seeing, so she doesn't have to watch her mother break down in front of her. Emily rushes toward her, hugging Sera tightly around her shoulders. Sera leans into the smaller angel, letting Emily carry some of her weight...along with the weight of her sorrow and pain, that she's been keeping to herself for all these years.
When she's managed to calm down a bit, Sera continues her story. The next part is much happier...as happy as it could be possibly be, at least, after having just watched her partner receive a fate worse than death.
"What made it so much worse was that the same day that she fell, I found out I was pregnant with you. I had just lost my love, my light, my reason for being...and suddenly I had to find new purpose again, in order to keep you safe, and hidden. I hid away for a while, as best I could, and kept you a secret from the elders until you were born. I claimed that I'd commissioned you, from the same place that I was forged, because with all the new Winners entering Heaven, I needed an assistant. They were so gullible, never imagining I would double-cross them like that. So I raised you as my sister...as my heir. And that's how we wound up here."
Emily has been sitting in silence for a long while by this point, and she continues to be silent, in heavy contemplation, for several moments after Sera concludes her story. Sera reaches over, and rubs her hand against Emily's face. Emily looks up at her, and then holds Sera's hand against her cheek to ground herself.
"Thank you for telling me all this," Emily says, voice a mournful and somber timbre, like she's been reliving all these moments right along with Sera. "I'm sorry for making you...have to recount all those painful moments. But I understand now, why you did what you did. I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Mom. I can't even begin to imagine how awful that was. I love you so much."
Emily starts to cry then, too, and Sera pulls her into her arms, and they just sit and hold each other for a while, and cry together, mother and daughter.
"I care about you so much, my love," Sera says. "You were the reason I held on for so long. You are my everything now, Emily, in her absence. You saved me. I could never imagine my life without you in it."
