Hello, thanks for your patience! This one didn’t actually end up very spicy (I got too caught up in my feelings) but I hope you like it anyway!

9. “How about we continue this somewhere more private?”

Wylan lasts a few hours before he caves and sneaks away to the kitchen for a few moments of peace, a chance to escape the stuffy atmosphere of the party and steady his nerves. He should’ve known that Jesper would notice him disappearing and follow him.

The kitchen is blessedly empty apart from the two of them. Wylan rests against the countertop, leaning forward onto his elbows.

Jesper steps in close beside him, resting a gentle hand on the small of his back. “You okay, love?”

With a weak smile, Wylan nods. “I will be.”

“Hey, everything’s going great so far,” Jesper says, tugging Wylan in against his chest and resting his chin on the top of his head. Wylan sighs with relief and presses his face into the hollow of Jesper’s throat. “Top points to you for flawlessly pulling off your first official Mercher party.”

“It’s a boring party,” Wylan mumbles against his skin, and Jesper laughs brightly.

“Maybe you just got too used to life in the Barrel, hmm? No more rowdy parties here.”

Wylan hums in agreement. There’s a part of him that misses the Barrel. There, he didn’t have to pretend to be something that he’s not. No one cared that he and Jesper were together without a formal courtship, that they shared a bed and many other things without being married. Life in the Barrel hadn’t been easy, but it had given Wylan his freedom. Now, as the reluctant head of the Van Eck estate, he’s beholden to strict, and oftentimes stupid, rules that set his teeth on edge. At least he has Jesper by his side.

Raising his head, Wylan grins up at his boyfriend. “No more sneaking away from our friends to make out in stock rooms?”

“A respectable Mercher like you doing something like that?” Jesper says with a smirk. “Maybe I’ll make a Barrel boy out of you yet.”

Jesper leans down at the same time as Wylan stretches up, meeting in the middle with a kiss that starts chaste and quickly builds. Wylan pours all his love into the kiss, all his gratitude at having Jesper by his side, all his adoration and desire and lust all wrapped up in one. Jesper holds him so tight it’s almost bruising, but his touch drains all the tension out of Wylan’s body.

When they pull apart, they’re both flushed and panting, half-hard in their expensive trousers.

For all Wylan joked about no more making out in bar stock rooms, there’s only one thing he wants to do right now.

“How about we continue this somewhere more private?” he murmurs.

Jesper plasters a look of fake shock on his face. “Wylan Van Eck, are you suggesting that we skip out on our own party?”

“The entertainment should be starting soon. I’m sure no one will notice if we just… disappear for a bit,” Wylan replies with a shrug of his shoulders. “And you look really good in your suit.”

“Flattery will get you everywhere, darling,” Jesper says, and then he grabs Wylan’s hand and pulls him out of the kitchen towards the stairs.

AU Fic Requests: OPEN

As I've reached my goal of completing a handful of WIPs as well as the 100 Kiss Prompts, I've decided to open up another list of prompts to request from. This time, however, these prompts have been curated by myself and @thestarlitnight, based on AUs that I love and have yet to write about!

Below you will find the general rules for requesting, along with the pairings that are available to request. Below the cut, you will find the actual list of AUs and if they are available or not (There are 70, and I need you all to know that the original list was closer to 120.)

Rules/Info:

The only thing you need to include in your ask is the paring name (in bold) and the prompt as I've written it. Please do NOT request specific plot points or dynamics.

The only exception to the rule above is if you specifically do NOT want M or E-rated content, as some AUs are/can be mature/explicit leaning.

There will be no acceptance of ships that are not listed below. These fills are more in-depth, and because of that, I do not want to write for ships where their dynamics/characters feel harder to dig into for me.

1 Request Per Person until your previous request is fulfilled in order to give others a chance to request.

If I believe that an anon is sending in multiple requests I will delete them. This may not be fair to the people who are making honest requests, but given that I've already had issues with this I'm going to be firm.

If you're wondering why there isn't a specific AU on the list it's possible I have already written/am already writing something and thus did not include it.

Most Importantly! These prompts are bound to be longer than the kiss prompts (I am shooting for a 3-5k range maximum for each), and thus they will take longer to complete. With that in mind, please do not send me multiple requests for the same prompt/pairing if you think I haven't marked yours down. Check below the cut, and you will know. If it seems I haven't received your request you're free to DM me to ask why it's not there yet.

book fans are really going to have to think about it as an au, or a different timeline. With that in mind, it was so good. The very last scene?!?! Alina’s struggle with her morals when it comes to mal, her struggle with needing more power when it comes to the point where she turns to merzost- since they didn’t adapt it with the apparat’s underground shit, with her discovering there, that was the perfect decision.

I honestly don’t know how I feel about Sturmhond!Mal, and I love Inej going after slave traders already, but what with the introduction of jurda, how will her return (or absence) for the ice court job play out? (Also, so glad kuwei didn’t get in the way of the first wesper kiss. I think they did an amazing job with older wesper, and I will die on that hill)

Did you see the look between tolya and inej when he helped her up? Hoping and praying that wasn’t a ship thing.

oh my gosh i have so many opinions about the finale. i really did not like alina's ending and just for zoya i would gladly prefer that she faked her death and lost her powers. if many people didn't like that, then they should've done literally anything else so long as it did not do zoya like that.

also i entirely just forgot about the apparat now that you mentioned him. i don't know i kinda liked what he did for the story even if i forgot what that was but i guess the show au was an intriguing decision.

I KNOW RIGHT. i'm glad mal is like finding his identity or something but sturmhond is nikolai's thing. i feel like the whole sturmhond thing was also done a little weirdly in the show. also how they talk about sturmhond like he's an act nikolai puts up instead of an alternate identity which he can take up to do things he wouldn't be able to as prince/king but where he is probably the most himself.

yeah i'm also glad inej is going after the slave traders already but like this was all because they killed off tante heleen. like she's not a part of the main crows anymore??? just like that??? i don't like that decision.

i think show!wesper was really cute and really fun and i loved it. but i love it separately from book!wesper. i have some controversial opinions about how they handled wesper in the show so sakdjfhlksjdf

note: i watched the whole season in one day after also watching the kaz parts of s1 (also known as 12 hours of sab in a row) so i don't know i might have forgotten some things. also i'm aro af, and the amount of romance in this show makes me feel weird, so if i seem like a hater about most of the ships, it's only because i am (but no hard feelings to anyone!)

also this is almost 100% about kaz because while i respect that there are other characters in the show, i have not a lot to say about them except in relation to kaz.

wesper got in the way of kaz and jesper having more of their weird friendship moments and i'm bitter about it because i'm a hater. but i did like every scrap they did throw me... especially jesper's little monologue about how much they care about each other and kaz agreeing with 99% of it god bless they are a version of sunshine/grumpy that i do really love

kaz and nina had some GOLD interactions and i'm so happy about it. the way he kept making it clear she's part of the crows now? the way he seems baffled by the fact she can just talk to people and they like her? WAFFLES?* every time they say words to each other i am transfixed.

*i need everyone to know how much i enjoy fake dating (or marriage in this case) when the two people are TRULY not interested in each other that way

also kaz appreciating the poetry toyla was reciting. it reminded me of how kaz dresses like the merchers instead of being flamboyant. he Does Not want to come across as a farmboy orphan, and i feel like being that familiar with poetry is related to that.

i'll get back to kaz and inej i have a lot to say, but. in general, i think their relationship was handled well and i do mostly like it, i just kind of wish it were platonic.

truly did enjoy kaz being unhinged about pekka. i appreciate kaz's bad side more than i probably should.

also appreciated that, while kaz had some little moments of vulnerability with the people he cares about, it was very clear that he has a lot of mental health consequences because of it. he loves his friends so damn much, and it is So Difficult for him.

i don't know if the show was... actually doing anything with this (since most of what the darkling did was sulk under a chandelier this season) but i do like the parallel of kaz keeping people around him who DON'T unquestioningly do whatever he says--and i think that's in part because he knows he could veer into actual evil if he didn't--while the darkling doesn't trust anyone enough to listen to any criticism.

it is so funny to me whenever the crows show up in these high magic situations and they are SO unequipped for it but they just kinda manage anyway.

okay now i'm going to do a whole thing about kaz and inej now

things i liked:

they didn't kiss or touch much.

inej realizing that the moment with kaz was a hallucination because he was functioning like a normal human.

i didn't feel like the narrative was telling us that she's supposed to fix him.

BUT they still do look after each other.

kaz walking toward her after the battle in the last episode, then jesper running out to hug her. my emotions.

things i didn't like:

him getting angry at her for not being there during his pekka revenge was weird to me, especially given that he kept telling her to leave over and over through the season. i could go with this conflict but i didn't feel like it developed in a way that worked for me.

the last scene between them for so many reasons god i hated it. first of all, i don't like that he grabbed her. i don't like that he tried to convince her to stay instead of looking for her family. i thought one of the character arcs for him was that he was respecting her need to look for her family, then it got thrown away at the end? i didn't get it.

second, as someone who also has extreme touch aversion connected to ptsd, i thought her line about his armor was actually offensive? if she'd made it about his withholding information from her and not expressing his emotions properly, that would've been FINE. but she made it about the fact he has trouble touching people. from experience, i can ASSURE you that's not something he can control. i just found that totally out of character for inej, who generally understands him pretty well.

and ANYWAY, couldn't she just have left because she needed to do this for herself and not make it into some kind of "break up" situation. they are friends FIRST, in my opinion, and he could've just respected that she needs to do this like he needed his revenge. if they wanted to show that, yes, he's still not the greatest person... he could've just gotten quiet about her leaving or even done some light guilt tripping about leaving the others behind.

The red-haired boy opened his locker pretty annoyed, slamming the door against the metal: it was the end of the school year and, just as usual, it was time to prepare for the school prom, probably the most important event to students.

Wylan hated it from the deepest of his heart: he had never been popular and no one had ever asked him to go together. What he hated even more was to see all the happy couples around him and some guys who found the courage to ask their love interest out.

Why had none of that ever happened to him in four years? Yes, he was openly gay and he was a little bit shy, but he wasn’t that bad after all, was he? He knew in his school there were other guys interested in men like he was, so why was he never considered a choice?

With his cheeks red with anger, he threw some books in his locker to put an end to that day and go home already; before closing the door, though, he saw a paper falling down from it: before he could catch it, a girl (whom he hated from the deepest of his heart) next to him took it and opened it: “Hey sunshine, want to go to the prom with me?” She looked at him raising her brows, a stupid smile curving her mouth “Oooh, Van Eck has a date! I wonder who could make such a poor choice”

Wylan rolled his eyes and took the note from that hideous bitch who never gave him a break. When she finally walked away, he focused on those words he couldn’t really read and his eyes suddenly widened: wait, had he just been asked out? Him?

Wylan was incredulous: that couldn’t be true, there had to be some kind of mistake. Wrong locker, maybe? He’d never been called “sunshine” before, so that message was definitely not for him.

He raised his gaze and scanned the hallway, looking for someone staring at him, maybe waiting for his reaction: but the only eyes he met were those of the captain of the football team, and he definitely couldn’t be his secret admirer.

Jesper

What he did was crazy and rushed, but that was just Jesper: everything he did was instinct. He carried the football team on his shoulders and all a good captain could do was to always trust his heart, no matter what.

He had spotted a beautiful mess of red curls during his first science class at the beginning of the year, and he’d been obsessed with that smart guy ever since: he didn’t talk much, but when he answered to the professor everything about the way he talked was hypnothic to Jesper - his soft, shaky tone, all those difficult scientific words, everything.

Even though Jesper was very friendly with everyone, he had never found the right moment to approach that curious boy: he was always alone, but every time he looked so focused on his drawings, lost in his thoughts, and Jesper just didn’t feel allowed to enter his world.

But he had to put an end to it: after talking to his dearest friend Inej about his matters of heart, the girl had suggested that he ask the red-haired guy out at the prom. He’d liked the idea.

He didn’t know his name - damn his lack of any focus during the science lessons, no wonder he had terrible grades - so he decided to call him by the spontaneous nickname he’d found after the first week: sunshine, because that guy with his curls and his smile shone like no one else.

He was now looking at him from the distance, curious to see his reaction to his note: when their eyes met, Jesper noticed the guy’s cheeks were much pinker and he chuckled, in complete awe for such softness.

Inej next to him smiled and punched him on the shoulder: “Looking flirty already?”

Jesper did nothning but laugh, keeping his focus on the handsome boy across the hall.

Wylan

All his surprise for the note disappeared when he saw the captain and his friend laugh while looking at him: suddenly, Wylan felt so stupid.

Of course no one wanted to go out with him, had he really believed any of that were true?

He lowered his gaze and only then did he remember he was wearing a green jumper: oh God, not only did he feel stupid, he was actually looking stupid. He remembered his father’s words every time he wore that colour: “Green with your red hair? You’re going to look like a Christmas elf. What’s next, a bell bracelet?”

No wonder the captain and his friend were laughing at him, now: they’d tricked him with a fake love note and they’d found him with that ridiculous outfit. He wouldn’t be surprised if they even knew he couldn’t actually read.

The joke turned out even better than expected.

Wylan felt tears filling his eyes and, before he could do anything about it, they were falling down on his cheeks. He had only a few seconds to see the captain’s expression change before he turned and ran away, far from all that shit he couldn’t take anymore.

Jesper

What had happened?

Jesper was standing petrified, all his excitement gone. He was confused and also a little bit crushed because he’d never seen tears wet that beautiful face before.

“I don’t understand” he whispered, turning to Inej to look for some answers.

“I don’t know what happened” said the girl, perplexed just the same “But I do feel like this is a good moment for you to be there for him. You say he’s always alone, and I don’t know who wants to be alone while crying”

Jesper nodded and gave Inej a rapid kiss on the cheek before leaving her in order to follow the red curls running away from him. It wasn’t hard, after all he was an athlete, so he could easily keep the guy’s pace. He followed him until he entered the music room: Jesper took a few moments to be surprised about it, but then he approached the door to join him and hopefully talk to him.

He found him seated at the piano, playing a furious yet wonderful melody on the keys.

Narrator

Wylan could express his feelings mostly through music, so that was the first thing he looked for after the pain he’d felt that day: he was liberating his frustration, telling his secrets to the only one who would listen.

He felt observed, but he didn’t care: whoever was annoyed by how loud he was playing could make peace with it already, he wasn’t going to stop.

“Hey, sorry to interrupt”

Wylan froze: he knew that voice. He’d watched some games at his school and the captain’s voice was always the loudest, the clearest.

Why had he followed him? Wasn’t he happy enough with how he had made fun of him?

“Leave me alone” whispered Wylan, his voice still rough “Please”

Jesper cleared his throat and stepped forward: “I’d like to sit next to you, actually. May I?”

“You may not”

The captain chuckled: “Um... okay, I’ll stand here then. I’m Jesper Fahey, nice to meet you”

The red-haired guy sighed: “What do you want? You’ve already humiliated me beyond imagination, what else do you need?”

Jesper opened his mouth, schocked and speechless: he had humiliated him? How was it possible? He hadn’t done literally anything apart from writing him a note that was everything but humiliating. What was the redhead talking about?

“I... what?”

Wylan laughed, tears filling his eyes again:  “Oh please, please don’t play fool with me. Asking the poor loser out fot the prom? Very funny, yes, I’m sure you had a heartfelt laugh with your friends”

Jesper tried to reply, but Wylan went on, his cheeks newly red and wet: “You know, I knew I was stupid, but not as much as to believe someone like you could actually be interested in me. Stupid Wylan, you idiot. Father’s so right about you, you’re such a delusion”

“Hey-”

“And you also found me wearing this stupid green jumper and- you know what, I’m taking this off. I’m already a loser to you, so what changes?”

Jesper put a hand on Wylan’s arm and stopped him, trying to look at him in the eyes.

“Wylan - did I understand right? - Wylan, stop for a second. What the hell are you talking about? And why shouldn’t you wear that jumper? I...” the captain laughed nervously “I am honestly so confused, but please listen to me”

The redhead froze at the sudden warmth of the captain’s hand on his arm: he dried his cheeks with his sleeve and sighed: “Just be fast, I really can’t do this today”

The captain cleared his throat: “I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I think there’s been a huge misunderstanding” he smiled at Wylan “I really want to go to the prom with you”

Wylan’s eyes widened, his breath catched: was he serious?

“Is that so?”

Jesper laughed: “I’ve already asked you twice in less than an hour, what do you want, a formal request?”

“I...” the redhead was speechless, his mind was starting to ache trying to understand how any of that were possible. He was probably dreaming.

The captain pointed his hand to the free space next to Wylan: “While you take this life-changing decision, may I sit?”

Wylan gave him the faintest smile: “Yeah”

The captain sat and the redhead held his breath for some seconds: Jesper’s arm was muscled and strong against his thin one, his profile looked like a sculpture, his lips were the most perfect shape he’d ever seen, his skin was a beautiful light brown similar to that cappuccino he loved so much. When Wylan found the ability to breath again, the captain’s fresh scent made him drunk.

He was going to lose his mind, so he made his eyes look away before he did anything stupid.

Jesper felt Wylan’s tension through his arm against his, so he placed a hand on the piano and played a random key: “I’ve always been astonished by the power of this instrument, but I don’t think I’ll ever understand how to play it” he turned his head to Wylan “You were playing beautifully, I would’ve listened to you for hours”

Wylan shrugged: “It wasn’t a great performance, I was just letting some bad feelings out. I can do better. Besides, that’s not even my main instrument”

“Oh?” now Jesper was surprised: just how great could this guy’s talents be?

The redhead smiled and scrolled his head: “No, I play the flute. But here at school I can only use the piano, hygienic stuff, you know. I... I really needed to play some music just to feel better”

Jesper nodded: “Did you feel bad because of the note I left in your locker?”

“Well...” Wylan sighed “Kind of. It’s not your fault, though: at first I was surprised, then I saw you and you friend laugh and I panicked. I thought it was all just a mockery”

“Why would you think that?” asked the captain raising a brow.

Wylan laughed: “Are you kidding? You’re, like, the most popular person in the entire school, how could I believe you were actually asking me out?”

He wasn’t going to mention his dyslexia too. He didn’t want to ruin the moment. Besides, he was starting to think Jesper didn’t actually know about it.

“Well, for starters I should inform you that you’re very cute and that you shouldn’t blush for me saying that” Jesper restrained a smile looking at those pale cheeks get the darkest shade of red “And you should also know that Inej and I were laughing because we were so excited to see your reaction. I’ve had you stuck in my head for a while now, you know”

“You... you have?” Wylan could simply not believe it. There wasn’t any logic in any of that. 

Yet, it was happening.

“Yeah”

“So... so is everything true? You really want to go out with me, of all guys?”

“Oh Christ, you’re a tough one, aren’t you?” asked Jesper rolling his eyes. He stood up, just to get down on one knee and take Wylan’s hands in his “Please, Wylan, for the last time, will you go to this godforsaken prom with me?”

The redhead laughed, incredulous, but at the same time trusting towards that handsome guy kneeling if front of him: “I think I will”

“Oh my- can’t you just say yes, for my heart’s sake?”

“Okay, yes! Yes I will!” conceded Wylan, now laughing so hard he couldn’t even remember he’d been crying just a few minutes before.

“Thank God. This was the toughest task of my life so far”

Jesper sat back next to Wylan, smiling and feeling wonderfully. The redhead looked at him for a while, then cleared his throat: “Would you mind if I...” he hesitated, unsure if he could already go that far.

“If you what?”

Wylan lowered his eyes and whispered: “... if I hugged you?”

Jesper smiled as he whispered back a faint “come here”, circling Wylan’s shoulders with his arm, pulling him towards his body and placing his other hand between his incredibly soft curls. They both closed their eyes, feeling well, in the right place.

“By the way” whispered Jesper, not moving the tiniest inch from their hug “I have no idea why you talked about your jumper, but for the record I think green looks wonderful on you”

Wylan smiled against the captain’s chest: “You do?”

“Yes. It makes your eyes and your hair look even more beautiful. As a matter of fact, you should wear green more often”

In response, Wylan held tighter to Jesper’s body: “I will, then”

Soooo.... again with the wesper angst, I seriously have a was to screw with you guys, and it's not wesper. But just remember you are loved and if you need anything at all dm me and I will try and answer asap. And also this is one of my shorter fics:)

    It was late that evening, dark outside, the rain pouring on the windows, Jesper was snuggling with Wylan in the back seat, Nina was jamming to a random song, and Matthias was listening to music pretending to be depressed, or he really was. But Inej didn’t mind being in the front with Kaz. His gloved hand on was the gear stick, she put her hand on his and he quickly moved his hand. 

“What was that for?” Inej said, “I was trying to be nice.”

“I don’t care,” Kaz said, lowering his voice. “This isn’t what I had in mind when you said that we were all going on a road trip.” 

“What did you think was going to happen?” Inej whispered fiercely back at him.

“I don’t know,” Kaz said, he whispered back at her. He put his hand out and turned on the music, waking Wylan up with a yelp. 

‘Huh,” Wylan said, rubbing his eyes and hitting Jesper in the face, “Wake up oaf.”

“What?” Jesper said. Wylan rolled his eyes, in true Kaz fashion Wylan hit Jesper in the face again. “Ow! Merchling! What was that for?” Wylan didn’t answer him and just stared out the window waking himself up. 

“That isn’t what I had in mind,” Kaz said. Jesper looked intensely confused and tried to plead with Wylan to forgive him for some weird reason. Inej thought of Wylan’s reaction to the road trip idea, he had been in a bad mood apparently, but after some convincing from Jesper, he said yes. “Merchling, stop.” 

“Stop what?” Wylan shot back at Kaz. Kaz looked really confused on why Wylan was being this way, and everyone was. Nina talked to Inej about Wylan’s bad mood and Inej told Nina she had no idea what was going on. At the next stop they got into the hotel and Inej pulled Wylan aside. 

“Wylan, what's going on?” Inej asked Wylan. He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. “Wylan! Answer me.”

“You’re not my mother,” Wylan said. “No.”

“Wylan, please I’m worried about you,” Inej took his hands in her hands. Inej smiled at Wylan, he tried to smile back, but he couldn’t fake it. 

“Don’t tell anyone else,” Wylan said, his eyes tearing up. “Please.”

“Of course,” Inej quickly replied.

“Me and Jesper are in this… rough patch I guess, and I love him and I hate fighting with him and…” Wylan couldn’t finish the sentence, he hugged Inej and Inej hugged him back. Inej could hear his sobs.

“Here,” Inej gave him a tissue, “I’ll move Nina back there, and you can sit beside me if Matthias moves up.”

‘I really want that,” Wylan said. Inej looked and saw Kaz standing there. 

“Come on, dinner.”

“Okay,” Wylan took a deep breath and walked back into the hotel with Inej and Kaz. 

“So Nina you’re sitting in the back with Jesper, Matthias you're sitting up with Kaz, and Wylan you're sitting with me in the middle row,” Inej said the morning when they were about to leave. 

“Alright,” Jesper said, “But why?” He looked at Wylan and Wylan just looked away. It was like the day the Jesper had kissed Kuwei, he didn’t mean to hurt Wylan. But he accidentally did, every time he saw Wylan hurting it made him hurt. 

“Because I said so,” Kaz chimed in, he came back from bringing bags in. 

“You don’t like Matthias,” Nina said, Matthias’s arm around her. “And he hates you.” 

“So?” Kaz said, “Maybe we can… get… to… know… each… other…” Every word out of his mouth sounded like he was going to hurl. He put his hand on his hand over his mouth and relaxed. 

“Did you tell him?” Jesper told Wylan when they were leaving the hotel. 

“No,” Wylan said.

“Tell what? To whom?” Nina said behind them. 

‘None of your business,” Jesper said. “You’re lying, you told someone.” 

“Why do you care?” Wylan yelled at him. “You don’t even care about me!”

“I never said that,” Jesper said back. 

“Then what did you say Jes?” Wylan shot back. 

“I- That’s not fair,” Jesper said, he felt something in his chest that he only felt once his mother had died. It wasn’t nice, I’m going to lose him too, Jesper thought. 

“Yes it is,” Wylan whispered to him. “And if you don’t think it is then we’re done.” 

“Wy,” Jesper said. 

“No,” Wylan spoke normally. “You played with my heart too much, and it's broken beyond comparison. Nobody can fix it Jes, not even gambling.” The words hit Jesper like a gunshot, he didn’t know what to say, other than the fact that they were done. They got into the car, Inej looked at Wylan, all of them had heard what happened, Nina fell silent, nobody was talking. 

“I’m fine,” Wylan said to Inej. Jesper looked at him, he wasn’t worried about his training, but he was worried about something else. He couldn’t place it, he saw Inej whisper something into Kaz’s ear and Kaz growled and started the car. 

Jesper thought of his first thoughts of Wylan, how much he looked like a prince turned pauper, Wylan was right. Whatever Jesper did to hurt Wylan, Jesper used to sneak out some night saying he had to do things and wouldn’t arrive until early in the morning whenever Wylan was awake. Jesper always said he got lost and got out of it, but one night Wylan had enough, and Jesper slept on the couch, ever since then they had been fighting consistently, all day, all night, just all the time. And it seemed like the only time they were happy together was when they first got together, Jesper had this image of how his and Wylan’s relationship would go, and he didn’t see this coming. The words hit him again. They were done. For good. Jesper didn’t even dare to try to get him back. He knew he would just continue to hurt Wylan again, and again, and he could never figure out why he was hurting him.

Along with hurting Wylan he was also hurting himself in the process, he couldn’t stop hurting Wylan, therefore he couldn’t stop hurting himself. After a while they stopped for lunch and Jesper wasn’t paying attention and everyone left him and Wylan alone together. 

“I’m sorry,” Jesper said, staring into space, his mind elsewhere.

“For what?” Wylan said. He grabbed his satchel and gave Jesper a piece of paper. It read

If I were to hurt you so much, you shouldn’t come back. I know everything that I did wrong, and Wylan’t honestly, I'm convinced that you're either staying with me because you’re planning on hurting me later than expected. Or you’re madly in love with me. And who wouldn’t be in love with me, I mean it’s hard for someone not to be. 

Wylan had circled ‘You’re madly in love with me,’ he looked nervous, “I should be apologizing.” 

“No Wy, it’s- it’s alright,” Jesper said. Wylan got up from his seat and sat beside Jesper. Jesper’s heart must have been playing games with him, but he wanted to kiss Wylan, Jesper grabbed Wylan’s waist and kissed him, giving him every chance to let go. But he only pulled closer, and closer. It took them a few minutes to part ways, Wylan blushed and moved back up to his seat. “What does this mean?” Jesper asked after a few minutes of them waiting for the others to come back. 

“What do you think dummy?” Wylan said. “Just promise me, that you’re not going to sneak out again, and if you do, we’re done forever. Okay?” 

“Alright,” Jesper grinned. Jesper saw the others coming back, and jumped when Wylan got on top of him and started kissing him. Jesper grabbed his waist and kissed him back. 

“Whoa,” Nina said when she opened the door. Wylan didn’t stop, Jesper felt all the emotions behind it, the anger, the sadness, and the happiness. It was like Jesper was wanted more but he couldn’t have more then Wylan let go of him and blushed. Inej, Kaz, Matthias, and Nina were standing there. Wylan went back to his seat and they all filled in. Nina made Matthias turn on her music so her and Jesper started dancing, Wylan nodded his head to the beat. When ‘happier than ever’ came on he very quietly sang it. Nina got really into every song which made Jesper, Wylan, Matthias, and Inej laugh.

Jesper was happy that he and Wylan were back together, they stopped at a restaurant for dinner but Wylan said he wasn’t hungry. Wylan stood at the end of a bunch of mountains and stared at the sunset. “Hey,” Jesper said, he scared Wylan. 

“Oh, hello,” Wylan staggered back to his seat, Nina smirked and got in and hit Jesper. He made a grunt and laughed it off. Inej smiled a weird smile to Wylan, looking like she might murder someone soon. 

Wylan looked really uncomfortable, possibly angry, and maybe a tad sad, but Wylan kept his head up until dark, they drove in the car all night not stopping. Jesper dreamt of Wylan, what would happen if they never got back together, and honestly. He didn’t care one bit, they had gotten back together, and hopefully they were going to stay that way.

I’m now interested in ur wesper thoughts after seeing ur other couple thoughts, I personally love wesper as they’re also carrying basically all the series Neurodivergent rep on theyre backs

I liked them. I think they are the best written canon romance of Bardugo's writing career. I really enjoyed all the identity drama (especially fake death and wrong kiss) because of the tailoring and I was kinda rooting for Jesper's sugar baby endgame. I guess the only reason I don't ship it is because right off the bat six of crows was way too on the nose for my taste about the 3 canon couples and I just didn't vibe with that. But that's on Bardugo. Wesper was such a fun ride though. Plus the support for each other's secrets? Chef's kiss!
