lol yeah she doesn't tho i agree with this twitter post to a degree. i took her line "i should like to meet this Herald" as some foreshadowing that singed will probably tell her viktor knows SOMETHING about the technology she wants, especially because he calls viktor 'the apex form of hextech' like 38 seconds after ambessa says she wants to meet him. and she probably won't have the opportunity to manipulate jayce, esp since it seems like jayce is about to build caitlyn her new railgun rifle or whatever that weapon is in the trailer 💀

the funniest part about viktor being built up to be a big act 3 villain is that most of the main characters have barely interacted with him. like here's a quick headcount. jinx and vi exclusively know him as the weird robot cult guy who helped heal vander. caitlyn has presumably at least met him considering she's known jayce and hung around him since she was a kid but theyve never had a single interaction together on screen so theyre probably not that close. ekko knows him as heimerdinger's former student and also the guy who crawled out of a weird magic cocoon that one time, i guess. ambessa knows that he's one of hextech's creators and that he's close to mel and jayce. sevika has not met or even heard of him

presumably there is going to have to be a scene where jayce explains that yes, the scientist ex partner he developed hextech with is in fact the same person as the magic cult guy in zaun. it's just been a weird couple of months for him

just. the vulnerability of it all. izzy post-amputation is vulnerable: he's so weak he can barely stand, even with someone else holding him up. it would be impossible for him to care for himself in this state, let alone pull his weight on a working ship, and you know the enormity of the situation is not lost on izzy. i'm sure he strongly believes the crew should have killed him.

but they don't. they keep him alive. they find him a crutch (as undignified as a mop for a crutch may be). they make him a wooden leg. i'm sure they insist on cleaning his wound, changing his bandages. fang or frenchie or both are glued to his side constantly, supporting him, allowing him to walk. he is so utterly dependent on them now.

which is why it makes sense for him to be so fiercely protective of them when stede shows up. he snarls and growls and provokes, desperately hoping stede will take whatever anger he may have out on izzy, and not on the crew. he pleads for them, defends them. nothing was their fault. we did this to ed, not them. leave them be.

because izzy owes the crew a life debt, now, and he intends to pay it in full.

“Never thought I’d catch you blubbering. Wonder if Silco even saw that?”

“Twice. When he met me. And when I killed him.”

This dialogue had me crying. Not just because what she’s saying, but the implications it gives. I remember when talking about Silco and Jinx, there was this question about Jinx’s mental health and how much Silco was involved in it. And this just shows. Yeah, Jinx probably hid it from him. She wanted to keep a brave face for him. And so she kept up that facade. And which her insecurities would always slip through, she never broke down in front of him. And given how he always gives Jinx space and lets her come to him first, he probably never saw it until the tea party scene. Not the hallucinations, not the episodes or mental breakdowns. Now there is a level where, he’d have to know to a degree. From Sevika and what Jinx tells him. But I wonder how much that is. He knows her trauma and pain with her sister. And that gets him riled up. But what about everything else? Either way, he’s never seen her full on cry outside those two times. And that makes me sad.

Because what if? What if he ignored Sevika’s advice and went to console Jinx? What if he saw her breaking down? What if he realized the extent of her mental health problems. Would things have ended differently?

i'm not really sure what to make of this but it caught my attention that there's like a visual motif going on with eyes or the lack thereof with regards to the arcane.

like when jayce, ekko, and heimerdinger first encounter the wild rune in the hexgate, the proliferation of eyes is a pretty important visual note, from the characters' eyes themselves suddenly duplicating many times over to the kaleidoscopic structures in the anomaly manifesting a bunch of eyes looking back at the characters

but then also when jayce comes back from being trapped in the wild rune, a number of his glitching-out moments involve eyes or kaleidoscopic patterns that are reminiscent of eyes

all of which feels like. kind of pointed. considering the husk-people he sees are completely eyeless

also!!! these motifs come together a little bit in some of his other visions. as he walks through the cult encampment he sees this hand reached out to him making a fist. but then the fist opens and he sees a kaleidoscope pattern again. i also feel like the first frame is either a callback to or a match cut of some other shot that occurred earlier in the show but i can't place it

anyway immediately after this, it cuts to the grotesque hands holding the staff. if you look behind the hands though it looks like there's a face shape or something there, which is also eyeless

i don't really have a grand theory about all this it just struck me that there seems to be a clear contrast going on between eyes and no eyes. as a bonus mention, it also comes up once when viktor is in the arcane trying to heal vander. in addition to vander's body being covered in different beast-faces, he also has a bunch of eyes on his body. it's curious!

The only reasons I can think of for Frenchie being completely cut out of the shot during Izzy's death scene:

He was so overcome with grief that he excused himself so the trauma box would not burst open

He went running to grab Auntie's spellbook and flipped to "reversing death" and "summoning sea witches"
