What could the MC do with fea magic?
Quite a few things!
The MC's most mentioned skill is their intuition, which just means their gut feeling is more prominent and accurate than that of a normal human. There's a dash of premonition in there as well, comes with the territory lol.
They can also wield magic, in the sense that magic works for their species. It's no portals or illusions per se, but more like making reactions where there could already be some. For example; making plants grow or die, agitate the air to combust, manipulate water, freeze things, thaw things, conduct electricity, controlling winds - reactions and natural phenomena that could happen anyway, but with the help of a bit of magic. Most fae are classified as nature spirits to begin with, so I'm focusing the MCs powers that way 馃挏
The most special skill the fae magic brings is the ability to see the Veil. While other species can sense it, they can't exactly touch it or redirect it in any capacity, they just trust it to work as it has always done. This will be pretty important once, uh, *squints at notes* everything goes to hell.
Buuuuut... Fae (and other beings attuned to magic) are heavily discouraged from using it in public unless it's absolutely, positively necessary. In worst cases it could even result in expulsion from the city.
Hope this gives a bit of clarity!

Oh to be able to make the complex lore comic that lives in my head about the concept of fairies, anti-fairies, and pixies once being a civilization of one single species of fae that splintered both metaphorically and literally due to internal conflict
#Basic concept: one fae has their good and bad sides split into the fairy and anti fairy#While what remains (ie their more 'grey' traits) are left behind as a third being that's more of a Husk than anything#Pixies are kind of like the Kingdom Hearts nobodies in my head#None of them are directly associated or bonded to any single fairy the way anti-fairies are#They're just sort of a mixed bag of leftovers#Different from Nobodies in that aspect#The conflict that caused the initial split was the decision to stop doing harm to the humans through the planting of changelings#Which eventually evolved into a debate over how they treated humans in general#All desires to help and care for the human race was separated into fairies#While all desires to do harm was divided into antifairies#And then the left over unrelated stuff (like not caring about the humans either way and only being self interested instead) became the pixie#Unfortunately for everyone involved the split caused a severe decrease in magical abilities for all sides#Since it was really just one magic that was split into thirds#Having children was also banned at this point because there was no way of knowing if the children would be of one side#Or if they would be the original unsplit species#And there was concern this would cause conflict#I also like to think the heads of each faction erased the populations memories of their origins eventually#If only to make it easier to dehumanize the other factions and elevate themselves by erasing any associations with them#There are still some fae who exist who either were part of the split but escaped before they had their memories wiped#Or were never affected by the split and therefore still exist as the original form of fae#With all three 'types' of magic under their control#ANYWAY#fop a new wish#Fop#fopanw#fairly oddparents#fairly oddparents a new wish#A new wish

Humans and our insane biology
My 2nd entry to humans are space orcs.
So, I've always seen in movies that the intergalactic version of healing is via cryopads or filling an entire space tube with some sort of liquid and just chucking the entire person inside to heal for an indefinite amount of time depending on the severity of their injury.
Now, humans don't have the luxury of that. I can sorta theorized that the medical stuff the aliens use would include the use of nanites or galactic medicinal herbs that would speed up the healing process, bumping up a supposedly 10 years of physical rehabilitation and recovery to a few months at most and to those who get the quality herbs, then a few weeks.
Seeing as Earth would be seen as a deathworld, a term I've been seeing for planets that hold life forms but is seen as a hostile planet to other other galactic race, they would be baffled by the slowness of our healing process.
They might think, "Their planet is harsh so their healing process must be very fast". And they're half correct with that assumption. Even the most ill of humans can fight back on a lot of health issues even with minimal medical support.
Infection? Increased white blood cells and even developing a fever to kill this micro invaders via increased body temperature. The body not getting oxygen? Body falls into tachypnea or breathing too fast to get more oxygen. Any feelings of danger? Adrenaline pumps out to give you an extra boost of energy for fight or flight purposes. Injury leading to a cut somewhere on our skin? Have the platelet go over there and cover the cut and have the white blood cells round up the bacteria that could've entered. Hungry with no food? Let me use this fat tissue as energy.
Alien: You mean you heal slowly or very fast depending on your injury?! What if your body can't heal itself or what if you're too weak to do the healing?! *panicking from the stress since humans are technically considered as Eternal Younglings given that they're the fastest to die from their short lifespan*
Human: That's when we go to the hospital. Our version of your healing technology.
Alien: Oh, thank the stars. So how long do you stay in your cryopad if you have a deep injury?
Human: Depends on how deep. If it's just a small cut or a small bruise then we don't go to the hospital. But if the injury is super deep or an organ is not functioning well or we're bleeding from the inside, then we have doctors who put us to sleep with this chemical called anesthesia and they operate on the cut and fix the messed up organs.
Alien: *concerned alien noises* Doctors are like healers, yes? How do they exactly 'fix' you?
Human: So, they inject us with this anesthesia, wait for us to fall asleep, then cut their way through our muscle, fats, and tissues before seeing the organs, maybe cutting up a bit of it to send to the labs or fixing it up. I don't really know the exact details since I'm just your plain worker.
Alien: Child, 'healers' who cut up patients are called as kiarvetj, killers! *exasperated, panicky actions* How... how often did you say that you Terrans go to this hospital again?
Human: Oh, I'm not sure for the rest of my kind but for those who are healthy enough like me who can function and not collapse or vomit blood or get in an accident, then pretty much never. Besides, even if I want to know if I'm sick of something, the price to have myself be medically checked is too much. So I just make do with herbs and stuff.
Alien: I think I'm going to have a word with the UIC (Unified Intergalactic Council) about this... AGAIN!

I have to ask, is there something particularly unpleasant about the fae realm?
I'm trying to figure out if I might not just prefer life there to my life here (provided I could bring my cat, of course)
~馃挅
The fae realm has a lot of different rules to the human realm, and can be a whole lot more dangerous because of it. If you aren't careful you could easily lose things from yourself, such as your voice, emotions, even your will if you aren't careful with your name.
Staying too long also has its own consequences. Once you've been there for over a year it becomes impossible to leave. You've adapted too much to the fae realm, and you will continue to do so until you also become fae.

Hi this is a random question but I noticed fae tales Gwyn has a very acute sense of smell. I particularly enjoy the way you describe Gwyn basically just sniffing people sometimes loool. Is this a Gwyn thing or are all fae that sensitive?
It really depends on the kind of fae!
Gwyn is definitely more sensitive than a common fae, but he wouldn't be more sensitive at scenting things than most hound fae. It's all relative. There's so many different thousands of types of fae, and they all have different strengths and weaknesses.
Gwyn is exceptionally skilled at using different senses as a common fae because he's a trained tracker, and he's very good at it. His skills in this area are skills, and not something he was born with.
But Augus doesn't have to do any training at all to know where all the waterways and lakes in a vicinity are, because he's a waterhorse and that just naturally comes with the territory. This is something Augus was instinctively born with :D

If anyone heard me talk about some of my 'takes' on inclusivity/diversity headcanons, they would think of me as an asshole- but it's not because I don't want/enjoy/indulge in diversity/inclusivity headcanons, it's because you FOOLS the PERFECT candidate is right THERE!!
#this is lighthearted#and mostly jokingly said#I get people give their blorbos projection headcanons and that is so valid of them#but I am a godawful annoyance when it comes to adhering to canon#if I wanted a character to be transfem she/they/fae I would not pick the most bland clown guy on the planet#I really like diversity headcanons that build up the story instead of contradicting it#like tiger and bunny#everbody makes Barnaby a trans guy- okay I guess he's a little on the femmeish side if you squint#but homeboy didn't have a PERSONALITY outside of [his parent's death]#he was asked on screen what he wanted to do after avenging his parents and he basically said that was his only goal in life#now contrarily#Kotetsu T. Kaburagi doesn't have a conflicting childhood#all he has is a kid right?#in season one at least we never got any shots of his wife pregnant with Kanade#so I raise you:#Kotetsu and his wife were t4t and just forgot how ''straight'' couples actually were since they were both in love with each other#Kotetsu carried Kaide but his wife ended up doing most of the childwork since Kotetsu wanted to be able to provide for his family#EITHER his T interfered with his ability to ''mother'' Kaide (for lack of better word)#or Kaide knows that he father was the one who carried her into term and she just didn't question it because why would she?#it's funny AND it can fit into canon if you bs enough#I have no problem with making characters post canon trans#(most of the time I am also sometimes just A Little Hater)#transmasc mafuyu my beloved he is my son#sometimes I am just a little hater though and they be like 'I headcanon this Boy Of All Boys as transfem post canon'#and I am like 'so they realized they were performing masculinity the whole time?' No... 'so... they were repressing their true identity?'#Of course not! 'but they still transed tho...?' Yes! Duh. 'why the change in heart?'#stoic abused boy from a neglectful household is transmasc of his own will? when he couldn't even even pick put his favorite food?#no stoic abused child was ''forced'' to live as a boy because his father was sexist comes to realize that he enjoys being 'seen as a boy'#some headcanons remind me of that 'Remmy the rat is trans' fan joke/theory#anyways I just really like my trans!Kotetsu idea even if I don't strictly headcanon it

... I really gotta stop coming up with wildly ambitious AU ideas.
#my posts#HEAD IN HANDS.#it's a much darker flavored Deltarune AU. similar vibes to Lynxgriffin's Eldritchrune. everything and everyone is terrifying#but it's fae and grimm's fairy tales instead of demons.#like. DANGEROUS fae. don't give strangers your name.#a world where magic is real and it hunts you in the night.#i'm currently calling it 'Changeling AU' and it's a bit unhinged#the 'kris' of that world is a fae changeling that was abandoned after their parents realized they weren't really their child :')#so the Dreemurrs took them in... even knowing what they are.#meanwhile the real HUMAN Kris was being raised by fae in the Other World so they're BOTH very weird and feral#i haven't figured out all the details but i know they find each other because the human Kris escaped and is trying to get home#while the changeling Kris is trying to figure out these strange and terrifying doorways that are appearing around town#not really realizing what's going on and that someone on the other side is knock knock knocking... :) they want out.#and of course i'm sure that goes MEGA bad because Kris realizes they were /replaced/ and this THING took their life#because they don't Get that Changelings have no idea they're not human and have no ill intentions. they're just Weird#the Changelings of this AU are meant to be a 'gift' by the fae; a 'perfect' child born from hopes and dreams for the future#they're very uncanny but don't have much magical ability on their own and are the closest to human that fae can get#since they're a fae specifically born from human feelings. it makes them a bit of a halfling in a sense.#Changeling Kris might even be actively benevolent... having witnessed Dess getting Taken and wanting to rescue her...#they just weren't expecting to find TWO lost kids in the dark.#anyway. it's a hellish AU and i'll probably never complete it#but god i just needed to ramble for a sec there lol#ROLLS AWAY BACK INTO THE VOID
