i don't think the director can spawn life (god, that'd be Bad.) so i'd imagine they'd have to make use with the siffrins available to get a tiny-frin

The red 'tears' (blood?) are consistently on the same side as Siffrin's missing eye, even when illuminated. Coincidence? I think not!!

in a world where the Fair Folk are a mysterious, dangerous phenomenon that humanity have learned to fear and revere in equal measure, Siffrin has a whole new dilemma to grapple with: his nature is just as incompatible with the mortal realm as mortals are with his, and he's spent the last 10 years trying very hard to NOT think about the full implications of what that might mean. they don't belong in their world, but there's nowhere for them to go back to either.

and perhaps worst of all, most of those that could explain what he is, where he came from, and what he can do aren't exactly the friendliest creatures. in fact, most are unfathomably deadly.

(which hasn't exactly done wonders for their self-esteem, either!)

so when Siffrin wakes from his first revival, Dupe is the only lifeline they have; who better to learn fae magic from than an actual fae, after all? but even as his allies grow increasingly concerned about just what, exactly, their friendly, ferocious little rogue actually is... Siffrin also can't help wondering whether they can really trust the strange, sinister entity that seems to have developed an uncomfortably personal stake in their struggle... for reasons they refuse to divulge.

and now, some bonus lore below:

- the King's Curse in this world is replaced by the opening of a fae fount of magical power, which converts the nation of Vaugarde into fae 'territory.' mortals who cross the threshold into the fae realm are cursed, twisted into beasts-- a reflection of the monsters that the Fair Folk believe humanity to be. while the blessing granted by Euphrasie is sufficient to keep their minds intact, the closer the group gets to the fount, the more they are transformed into beasts. likewise, there are no Sadnesses here; the group's primary obstacle here are in fact other cursed humans who've lost themselves.

- Siffrin is the only non-human in the party, and as a result, the only one unaffected by the magic of the fount. they all know he's at least something fae-adjacent from pretty early on, but not exactly what that entails. Bonnie thinks Siffrin's a changeling, Odile knows they drink blood from their late-night 'outings' but not why, Mirabelle noticed his resemblance to the King and tries not to think about it, and Isabeau recognizes the term 'Cursed One' from his time with the Defenders but chooses to play dumb for their comfort.

- each of the party members is being transformed into a different creature with their own magical attributes and Gifts, allowing them to harness the magic of the King's domain in different ways. Mirabelle is a cat-like manticore(a meowticore, if you will) with metal, blade-like feathers and a rapier tail, Odile is a thunderstorm kirin whose rain cloud mane crackles with lightning, Isabeau is a chimera gargoyle with the ability to become stone at will, and Bonnie is an oceanic driftwood mandrake who can grow magical medicinal herbs and attacks enemies with a supersonic screech in times of desperation.

- this world has no timeloop. instead both Siffrin and the King share the Gift of Rebirth, a fae power that allows them to revive upon death by drawing from the magic of a nearby fount. this effectively traps them in a stalemate of sorts, with the group mainly defeating the King so that they can reach Euphrasie. she is able to restore their blessing, but by then the King is already on his way back out of the fount... forcing the group to retreat. Siffrin dies holding him off. notably, Siffrin revives at the Elder Tree here, not the meadow. it takes them all a full day to recover from the ordeal.

- Dupe's nature is COMPLETELY different here. while I'll tackle it in more depth later, they're effectively the rejected manifestation of Siffrin's magical nature, trapped in his shadow with no agency of their own. that split first happened after young Siffrin ran away from the human village that had taken him in. after spending a decade unheard and unseen, they have a particular liking for getting any kind of reaction out of their walking prison that they can-- with fear and annoyance being the easiest to provoke. despite their eldritch weirdness, they're... MOSTLY harmless. or at least, they're as harmless as Siffrin believes them to be! ;)
