Prompt 139
Geralt has noticed some... Things... About his traveling companion, Jaskier. Troublesome things. Like how he's almost certainly of faeblood. It's just little things he does or says or is that make Geralt's imaginary radar go off. He never uses iron utensils, He is truthful to a fault, He's mischievous and lustful, He never breaks a promise, not in an honorable way, but almost in a way as if fate is forcing his body to complete whatever he promised, no matter what. He's also gorgeous. Even in times when the road should've worn him down. Where there should be dust or grime, Jaskier somehow still shines like a freshly polished jewel. And don't even get Geralt started on the impossibility of Jaskier's freakishly vibrant blue eyes. That is NOT human! There are always wildflowers when Jaskier walks in the woods, even sometimes when they are out of season. Trees seem to bend toward him, always making a cover for the rain to keep him dry. When he went swimming, Geralt swears the water looks cleaner afterward. One time Geralt got tired of human-safe food, and decided to cook their dinner that night differently. He cooked one serving all the way, safe for humans, and one only a little, still nice and raw, unsafe for humans. And yet Geralt came back from feeding Roach to find Jaskier happily chowing down on the raw one. Geralt went to warn him, but stopped. Could Jaskier really not tell the difference? Surely the texture and taste was different... And then Jaskier was done. Geralt waited a few days, just sure Jaskier would fall ill, as humans usually did when eating food Geralt has learned is unsafe for them, but Jaskier didn't fall ill. In fact, he seemed healthier than ever. Which could only mean he isn't human. When Geralt talks to Jaskier and hints about knowing however, Jaskier doesn't seem to realize. Which means he must not even know. Geralt paces around camp. How is he to break the news to Jaskier that Jaskier has fae in his blood? Perhaps his mother cheated, perhaps one of his parents were a changeling, perhaps a grandparent wasn't what they said they were, perhaps he, himself, is a changeling... Jaskier returns from a bathroom break and cocks an eyebrow at his witcher pacing around camp like a restless animal. "Geralt? Darling, what are y-" "Jaskier, you're fae." Geralt blurts. Fuck. That is not how he wanted to break the news to poor Jaskier. Jaskier is standing there, face paling, eyes wide, breath coming in short rasps. It's difficult news to deliver, and Geralt did it insensitively. Jaskier seems to be panicking. Geralt will help him, will comfort him. Fae or not, that's his Jaskier. Jaskier is freaking the FUCK out. Geralt found out he's fae! Fuckfuckfuck! He thought he was so good at hiding it! Sure, there were a few slipups here and there, as there is with any big secret, but he really thought Geralt was none the wiser! He should've known the monsterhunter would recognize a monster when he saw one. Now Jaskier must decide if he'll die by Geralt's hand, or try to outrun the witcher, as surely no man wants to be companions with a member of the trickster faefolk.

Tied to Fate pt. 3 Shadow Milk and Pure Vanilla backstory.
Their story starts long before like all the other beasts, being made personal by one passionate witch to help the cookies of Earthbread. Blueberry Yogurt Cookie (who will later become Shadow Milk) is the Sage of Truth also called Fount of Knowledge. However he was physically the weakest of the cookies.
Despite being a beast cookie and technically immortal, Blueberry was an example that they fully weren’t gods, as one had bad sight in one eye, requiring glasses. However the worst was the accident, Warming Spice paying attention and knocked over a pillar that fell on Blueberry Yogurt’s legs, crushing them. Blueberry screamed and the other beasts helped out and gathered healers to help. However Blueberry’s legs never recovered, fully crushed, both needed to be removed to spare him from pain.
This of course limited Blueberry, who started school and couldn’t travel much. However he’s happy to his fate, stuck in a wheelchair as he teaches and spreads the truth and knowledge to the world. The other cookies would visit him, especially Warming Spice, but most would leave him alone, stuck in his own reading and research.
The beginning of the beasts started with Platinum Salt Cookie who had fallen in love with a simple farmer cookie by the name of Spider Lily Cookie, who was interested in magic. Blueberry happily took her on as a student with a smile, however she contracted the ‘red death’ while at the academy. Blueberry panic of course, he didn’t want to lose his friend’s soulmate, and he knew the fairy kingdom had fought off and survived this illness so he went to his friend, Elder Faerie for help.
However Elder Faerie didn’t help saying the magic was too dark and evil for it to be used. Blueberry argued but his old friend didn’t budge, and Spider Lily succumbed to her illness. Platinum cuts Blueberry’s eye and disappears, becoming the beasts known as Silent Salt. Blueberry is confined to his School and could teleport to his Spire of knowledge, as he’s forced to see each of his friends slowly disappear, being replaced by the whispers of the beasts. Blueberry tries to warn the other cookies/students, however most don’t listen, which leads to more deaths.
As time passes, eventually a traveling healer who can make prosthetics ends up passing the school, and some of the workers get him to come in for help. This healer, known as Dandelion cookie. Dandelion is slightly horrified by the state of Blueberry Yogurt’s legs and the pain he’s in and makes it his mission to make some prosthetics that don’t hurt the Sage of Knowledge. Eventually making a pair of doll-like legs so Blueberry can actually walk again, however it comes with the problem of pain and breaking.
Dandelion spends about five years with Blueberry Yogurt, now the Sage’s main healer. The two grow closer, Blueberry soon begins to tell Dandelion Cookie everything and the healer reminds the sage of the good of the world. Blueberry finds the cure of the Red Death after meeting Dandelion, it just means giving a small part of their life powder to the ill cookie, it will save their life but bond them to the cookie who offered their life powder. Blueberry did this with two sick orphans who he adopts (these become Black Sapphire and Candy Apple Cookie), much to Dandelion’s horror.
Blueberry Yogurt cookie knows the warning sights, he’s looking for a way to help his friends, free them from this state, which could earn their wrath. The witches aren’t answering his prayers anymore now that he learns that some of them don’t value the cookies, and the fae has become more like enemies ever since they let Spider Lily cookie die. So Blueberry begs Dandelion to stay in the Spire of knowledge, for his own safety. Dandelion doesn’t like not being able to help but agrees, out of love to Blueberry, plus someone has to make sure the kids don’t set the books on fire. All while Blueberry is slowly trying to keep sane, lying to his students so they don’t meet an early end.
Dandelion cookie’s death was an accident, at least that’s what Elder Faerie swears. He knew about the beasts and had broken into the Spire of Knowledge to look for any possible solution to the beasts. Of course he wasn’t on speaking terms with Blueberry Yogurt, he was already tense and when he heard footsteps behind him he just swung his sword, figuring the beast would heal from whatever injuries.
But he had slashed Dandelion’s neck.
Blueberry sees the and rushes over, tripping over his legs and using his magic to keep Dandelion alive. He begs Elder Faerie for help, his magic has to focus on keeping Dandelion stable but they need to get him elsewhere to fully heal him, Blueberry says that ‘it’s an accident, and he’ll forgive him’. But for some reason Elder Faerie choses to leave.
With Elder Faerie leaving Dandelion to die in Blueberry’s arms, he turned him into the beasts known as Shadow Milk.
If the world was going to be cruel, take away things he loved and treat him like a fool, then maybe he should consider Earthbread his plaything.
The first thing he did was start rumors, calling the fae evil and causing enough paranoia that they were chased away from every kingdom there was. Shadow Milk soon began to sow Discord and deceit for the laughs, however his two adopted children were forced to stay in the Spire for they had not grown up yet.
Eventually the witches had enough, sealing the beasts inside of a tree with the help of Elder Faerie Cookie. However they didn’t account for how vaste Knowledge is, that he was connected to the moon, stars and others. So while others fell asleep in the tree, Shadow Milk could send his spirit elsewhere, his eyes always watching. He could see the fae, his children in a coma like sleep in the Spire, and the world go on, eventually he fell asleep plotting his revenge.
(Ancient Time)
Pure Vanilla cookie was baked and brought to Earthbread, growing up the past time as a simple shepherd caring for his sheep. He meets another cookie, his first friend, White Lily cookie. However after showing an affinity for magic, he was quickly given a scholarship to Blueberry magic academy, thankfully he wasn’t alone and White Lily joined him.
The school was great and terrible at the same time. They both got the chance to learn, it felt like it was a second home to them and they knew all the secret hallways and spots to grab what they wanted. However the trade off was horrible nightmares, they would have nightmares that would wake them up screaming yet they could never remember any of the details. This is also where Pure Vanilla’s vision worsened, so he traded with a staff to see while his real eyes could only see high focuses of magic.
After leaving the academy Pure Vanilla decided to become a traveling healer, helping people with injuries and restoring their faith. Eventually he runs into Pure Lily again and meets some other friends along the way. Pure Vanilla and the other ancients were given/found the soul jams, using them to help establish their kingdoms and bring peace to the land. However this peace time is brought to an end by Dark Enchantress cookie and Pure Vanilla sacrificing himself to stop the villain and saving his friends. His soul/body is brought to the magic world by the soul jam and witches.
(Canon).
Crispa
Pure Vanilla is woken away by the Voice of Truth and was brought back to the Crispa, however he was terrified at first. He for once doesn’t have White Lily cookie around while he’s dealing with vision yet again, so he opts to hide as healer cookie. Eventually he meets the group, slightly horrified by the fact they are all kids and joins to make sure they are protected.
Beast Yeast
Pure Vanilla and the group head to Beast Yeast for some answer about what happened to White Lily and Pure Vanilla immediately feels that something is off. He doesn’t know what’s going on, he wonders why he like a phantom pain. This gets worse when he meets the Elder Faerie and he keeps bringing his hand to rub his throat. Pure Vanilla has to shove this aside when the vines around the seal begin to die and they need to help the faeries.
In a panic they all realized they needed to wake White Lily up as she was the first one to help strengthen the seal however she is now currently in a coma with the life of another being the other thing that could save her. Elder Faerie uses some of his life powder to help bring back White Lily, however they still have to worry about the seal. They all push aside their problems and rush back to fix the seal.
They go to fight the breaking seal yet something, a soul escapes. Shadow Milk Cookie. The jester uses his magic and begins to mess with the group, basically glancing over them as he looks for Elder Faerie Cookie. Obviously having something against the elder fae, they decided to realize they have to get to the tree and seal it back up.
During their journey to the tree it’s very obvious that Shadow Milk has hatred for Elder Faerie, implying that he’s a murder and will kill the two ancients who are with them, which the group obviously think is a lie, Elder Faerie sense he actively helped bring White Lily back to life. Shadow Milk also makes some implications that the witches made the ancients to mock the beasts.
White Lily unlocked her powers and binds the seal yet again, however the beast have escaped, or at least part of them have, the tree and their lack of soul jams being the only thing from the whole world being thrown into chaos. Realising this, Elder Faerie asked Pure Vanilla to send all the ancients warning letters as the beasts will obviously be after their soul jams.
Beast Yeasts episode 7-8
They end up going to the spire of knowledge, trying to find knowledge to bind the beast away. It follows the same pattern as canon, however there are a few differences, Shadow milk keeps flipping between Pure Vanilla being Dandelion and him not being, his current trials trying to get PV into a cookie of deceit is proof to the beast that his soulmate hasn’t been reincarnated. As well as the spire being connected to the past, they group are seeing vision before the beast truly fell.
Meanwhile PV broke into multiple parts in the spire, remembering his past life and opting to trick Shadow Milk to fully get back his soul jam and save the beast.
It works, and Shadow Milk is angry, but Pure Vanilla reveals that while he’s not fully Dandelion, he is still him, he’s still his soul. And ask Shadow Milk to stay by his side, like Blueberry Yogurt had asked of him all those years ago. He originally laughed at the ancient, however PV brings up what happens if Shadow milk is sealed again, would his two children rot in his spire again? These questions eventually gets Shadow milk to agree to being a ‘good guy’ and friend to Pure Vanilla.
Shadow Milk ends up going with the group, along with Black Sapphire and Candy apple, so you can imagine the chaos.

This came into my head, just a snippet really after playing Baldur’s Gate 3 while listening to Witcher fanfiction I downloaded from AO3 and get a screen reader to read for me; all the while with a temperature of 102.3F or roughly 39C. This is when you are supposed to gather allies during act 3…. No real spoilers for BG3 but one for The Witcher 3. This is also a Fae!Jaskier snippet of a fic
In the flickering light of the campfire, Jaskier the bard stood slightly apart from the rest, his mind racing through realms of possibilities, not all of them confined to the world of music and poetry. Tonight, he had a different kind of audience in mind—Jergal, the Lord of the End of Everything, who had manifested on this plane as Withers.
"Jergal," Jaskier began, his voice confident yet infused with a respectful tone, as he approached the ancient god. The camp was quiet, the rest of the party attending to their gear, oblivious to the conversation that was about to unfold.
"Indeed," replied the god, his voice as dry as the dust of forgotten tombs. "And to what do I owe the honor of this direct address, Prince of the Fae?"
Jaskier smiled, the title echoing with irony even here, in a realm so distant from his own. "I come to discuss a matter of balance and transition. You preside over the fate of souls, guiding them to their rightful afterlives. But what if a soul's rightful place is not within the confines of this world or its celestial realms?"
Jergal's empty sockets seemed to deepen, considering. "Continue," he intoned.
Jaskier stepped closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "These Witchers, they belong to another reality. Their souls were never meant to traverse the pathways of this world's afterlife. By resurrecting them here, aren't you merely adjusting their course, redirecting them to continue their fight in a different form of existence, akin to an afterlife?"
Jergal paused, the skeletal fingers of one hand tapping against his chin—a gesture almost human, thought Jaskier. "Your words are woven with the cunning of your kind," Jergal finally said. "But they hold a kernel of truth. These souls, if unclaimed by other deities or powers, might indeed be considered for such... relocation. What do you propose?"
Jaskier's eyes glinted with the thrill of the gamble. "For every Witcher's soul you agree to resurrect, I will pay two hundred gold pieces. Their names will only be offered by those who knew them in life, and there must be no other claim upon their spirits."
"A novel form of afterlife," mused Jergal, a ghost of amusement in his tone. "Very well, Prince Jaskier. Who will you name first?"
"Vesemir of Kaer Morhen," Jaskier replied promptly. "Slain in the defence against the Wild Hunt, a mere five years ago."
With a gesture from Withers, the air shimmered, and the form of Vesemir coalesced by the fire. His eyes, sharp and clear, flicked from Jaskier to the god standing before him.
"Where am I?" Vesemir's voice was rough with confusion.
Jaskier stepped forward, quickly explaining the situation and the role Vesemir could now play. Understanding dawned in the old Witcher's eyes, followed by a spark of determination.
"Then let's begin," Vesemir said, turning to Withers. "I can name quite a few who deserve another chance to swing a blade."
As Jaskier and Vesemir listed names, Withers, bound by the terms of their agreement, summoned each Witcher back into existence. The gold piled by Jaskier dwindled, but with each resurrection, the camp grew louder, more boisterous with reunions and disbelief.
By the time Geralt returned with Tav, Astarion, and Gale, the camp was transformed. Witchers long thought lost to the world were now laughing, sharing stories, and yes, liberally sampling the camp's stock of alcohol.
"What's happened here?" Geralt asked, his voice a mix of shock and awe as he recognised familiar faces from his past, some from his very childhood.
"Jaskier happened," Vesemir chuckled, clapping the bard on the back. "He's found us a new kind of afterlife—one with a bit more fighting and a lot more drinking."
Geralt looked at Jaskier, a mix of emotions playing across his face. Finally, he smiled, the tension easing from his shoulders. "Only you, Jaskier, could orchestrate the resurrection of an army and turn it into a festival."
Jaskier bowed slightly, his face alight with mischief and pride. "Well, we have battles to fight, and who better to fight them with than brothers long thought lost?"
The camp buzzed with energy as the newly resurrected Witchers swapped tales with their saviour, making plans for the coming conflict. Geralt moved among them, every so often looking back at Jaskier with a shake of his head and a grin. He always was good with loopholes and pushing boundaries.
Finding out he was actually a Seelie Prince who got himself stuck without access to his magic within Geralt’s world honestly didn’t surprise him when he thought about it. He had always suspected Jaskier had some fae ancestry especially once it became obvious that he wasn’t aging. Also no bard, no matter how talented, could write a song like Toss A Coin and have it spread so far and so fast and actually make people believe that it’s good luck to toss coins at Witchers. At least it was better than rocks. Coins hurt just as much sometimes but at least you can spend a coin unlike a rock.

one of the things season of storms does right is it replicates the positively chaotic energy of the short stories in one ☝️ aspect:
geralt running into dandelion in public, or dandelion showing up randomly, and geralt having an endeared, surprised take worthy of an anime protagonist where he goes “hey, it’s my best friend dandelion!!”
and they basically are like
youtube
what i love is that it’s always framed so coincidentally, like ‘who could have imagined we would randomly run into each other just now !!’ but this happens, what, in bounds of reason, eternal flame, something more… (one could also count voice of reason, perhaps) … you can see the author’s pen throwing them together, for the reason that it would be interesting…
maciej parowski (late editor of fantastyka, and of the wiedźmin early 90s comics) said in an interview that the world (of the short stories) is relatively small and the characters cross paths, bump into each other easily. they’ll never stray very far from one another. i think this kind of magic is exemplified by geralt and dandelion’s friendship…

Note
Jaskier who is the child taken in exchange for a changeling. He's not genetically fae, but he is culturally fae. Like, he loves nature and trickery and cream. He has a distaste for lies and iron. He is the MOST polite about hospitality.
Maybe Geralt has suspicions about Jaskier being fae; however, it’s just how he was raised.
Bonus points if Jaskier isn’t human, he’s just not fae.
That ending is the best part omg I'm crying Imagining some fairy/siren/selkie/??? Jaskier who all the witchers are CONVINCED is a fae and he's just like "No, I just have manners lol."

Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
How to identify: Dandelions are very common in North America from my experience and I imagine they’re common in the rest of the world too, how you can identify them is by their name! Dan (teeth) de (of) lion (lion), their name originates in French in these series of words, so you’ll recognize their leaves have pointed edges to them like a saw but no thorns or spines in any way, you’ll notice pink ish purple ish coloration in the stems or base of their leaves and you’ll notice they grow in a basal rosette structure. (For those of you who maybe don’t know some of the weird terms we use for plants, basal rosette means it grows directly from the ground with a spiral of leaves, some succulents, cabbages and mullein are all common plants that also grow in this way, so try to imagine them as a reference for what that means). It has fluffy petaled yellow flowers with purple to green, hollow stems that turn into small tufts of feathery, flying seeds after pollination.
Precautions: This herb can effect your urinary tract, while it’s widely considered safe for most people if that’s been a long time problem for you, consult your doctor before eating this herb if you can. From what I’ve seen, nobody has died from eating this plant or been hospitalized for that matter but The Herbal medic by Coffman or even simple resources like WebMD might give you an idea if this herb is going to effect you in an unfortunate way.
Medicinal properties: Dandelion is a mild diuretic and can be used as a bitter. This means that when you taste the bitter flavor of its leaves or roots, your body has the reaction to expedite your digestive and urinary systems. Some have used it for “detox” treatments, personally I don’t feel those are the most accurate or informative descriptions of this herb, if you had swallowed a significant amount of an intense poison, the help dandelions could do is pretty minimal. But it works great if you need caffeine taken out of your system, if you need a digestive for the end of a large meal or perhaps if you’ve been struggling with some short term blockage.
Culinary uses: The leaves can be prepared like collard greens or arugula but go heavier on sweet and sour flavors when working with this vegetable, it is quite bitter. Its flowers can be batter fried or I’ve also heard of recipes of them brewed into wine (kids look away). It’s roots can be roasted and used as a coffee substitute, personally I spent a decent amount of time in the winter one year drinking “hot coco” made of roasted dandelion, fennel seed, clove and cinnamon (I have an unusual palate, I am at peace with that).
Magickal uses (Which are all the way down here so you understand everything above before you use this plant!): This plant grows in sunny areas and has bright yellow flowers and medicinally has the effect of clearing things from one’s body, making it a definite herb for The Sun and for purification. They proliferate very heavily as well in the area they live, tying strongly into the aspects of the sun that lie into fertility and prosperity. I remember as a child hearing about a correlation between dandelion and faeries, but never perhaps getting the exact answer as to what their connection is. Now, I feel as though the two are combined in the sense that in our industrialized world dandelions are the most readily available wild plant that sparks our interest and understanding, so perhaps if one works with the faerie folk in an urban environment this is the herb for them. I’ve heard from a couple sources on the web of Theseus eating dandelions to gain strength during his battle with the Minotaur, being given them by Hekate, however I’m disappointed to say I haven’t found any particular sources that substantiate this claim that reference anything beyond rumor (still, rumor is a powerful thing even if that’s all we’ve got, you’d be surprised what goes by word of mouth).
Planet: (Sun) Gods and Spirits: (Apollo, Baldur, Brigid, Brownies, Cernunnos, Hekate, Helios, Horned God (Wiccan), St Joseph), Uses in witchcraft: (Health, strength, protection, courage, prosperity, purification, home, kitchen and parental craft)
