House Brand socks are manufactured by small, family-owned mills in the USA, and we have been working with these same mills since the early days of Sock Dreams.
Sock Dreams work with these mills because they use regenerated yarn to make our socks. This material is created by using discarded fabric scraps from other factories and giving them new life as recycled yarn! As such, this yarn is made with varying percentages of different fibers. Each batch of yarn is unique and may feel a little different from batch to batch, but we ensure that the majority of the yarn content is cotton. This variance may contribute to why some socks feel different than others, but regenerated yarn does bulk up and become softer over multiple washes.

ᓂᑐᐦᑕᒧᐏᐣ nitohtamowin, the act of listening (red breasted merganser)
2024
hand quilted scrap fabric and seed beads
as i worked on this piece at my home on the colonially occupied land of my native ancestors i thought about the words of palestinian poet marwan makhoul;
In order for me to write poetry that isn’t political
I must listen to the birds
and in order to hear the birds
the warplanes must be silent.
the colonizing genocidal power that continues to lay waste to my people, keeping us poor, unhoused, and sick is the one of the powers contributing to the genocide of palestinians. Indigenous liberation is intertwined globally, land back for me means land back for us all.
Métis (Otipemisiwak) demand a free Palestine.

I love making quilts and blankets, but when I offered one from my stack to a friend, they said that they really only wanted a blue one... so I made this! It started as a spite project but turned into something much better.
The front is made from upholstery samples that I got from a free event aimed at giving away items being sent to landfills. Because of the variety of fabric materials and types, it's a textural wonderland, with each square feeling very different from the ones next to it.
The back is flannel cotton, which is far less interesting.
The moon applique is a completely new technique for me, and one that I'm excited to try again in the future.
I hope my friend likes it. If not, I'll scream! Or at least be really bummed. This thing took a lot of work, and I'm honestly pretty proud of the results.

Horror movie leather jacket
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This year's secret santa gift. Thrifted a leather jacket, ripped out the lining, and put in this classic horror movie fabric that I found on Etsy. My friend designed a custom clothing tag for me.

first attempt at visible mending. i started with stitching the edge of the hole and a denim patch (blue thread). i wanted to do a criss-cross pattern with the purple and green thread but the lines i drew on were hard to see so i ended up free-handing a lot.
i used embroidery thread because that's what i have on hand. i'm not sure if that the strongest option but if the stitching breaks, i'll just try again. the wrinkling in the denim bothers me a little; it's not so bad on the knee but i think for mending the inner thigh area it will be an annoying texture :p
