Today's project was a sort of proof of concept. Ever since I saw the method for making a folded brim (like in the Oslo hat), I've had the idea that the same method would make nice channels for a cinch pouch, and the idea has just sort of been brewing in my brain since then. I finally tried out my idea today, and I think it worked pretty well! I definitely have a few changes in mind for the next one, namely for neater edges on the sides of the channels, but for a trial this turned out well.
If anyone is interested, I can write up what I did, but it won't be a pattern per se (no stitch counts or anything), more of a recipe or methodology of how I did it.
#description in alt text#knitting#knitblr#trans#trans fiber artist#knit#fiber arts#i also knit this with what's supposedly worsted but acts like dk on us 2 needles so the fabric is very nice and dense#which is what i wanted but made it work up a lot slower#currently it's holding my tablet weaving cards because the pouch id sewn for them wasn't quite the right size#i mean neither is the knit pouch (even with measuring guage its narrower than i wanted) but knitting stretches more than quilting cotton#so they fell well enough and ill make a better one for my second trial of the pattern

I ended up keeping two things for myself out of everything I made last year: the samples for Retiarius and Spurdog. The latter I’ve worn out and gotten compliments on, though I’ve only really styled the former and then gave it up. Anyhow, the actual secret to wearing this type of shawl even if you’re usually very masculine and minimalist in terms of personal style is to embody the attitude that you’re about to rob a train. You get all kinds of compliments.
#which was not what i was necessarily anticipating#knitting#knitblr#wool#cotton#knit#texture#handspun#thread#the other secret is a lot of the fabric can be tucked into your zipped-up jacket and thus obscured if you’re cold and feeling shy

Ah yes, we are finally back at the stage of "too many creative ideas too little time"
Which honestly I prefer to "no creative mojo at all" which was the case until a couple of weeks ago 😒
#my actual life#current and planned projects:#the lace shawl with leaf pattern. union jack socks for my friend's birthday (knitting)#cloning the breezy summer top. making a crop top from the leftover dress fabric. finally making that short cotton skirt (sewing)#i have already started the leaf shawl and the top clone#but i want to start the crop top instead 😩#which would be a bad idea because I'm confident i can finish the top i started today and then I'd have another summer garment#which is sorely needed in this weather#and the crop top i have to make a pattern for first so that's at least 4-5 hours of work until it's done#also i don't like having multiple projects started (for the same craft) it stresses me out#with the exception of my puzzle blanket which is long term and in between by nature#so on to finishing my top i guess

“Discover: Types of Loom in Textile Manufacturing”
Loom? What are They? What Do They Manufacture?
Looms is the weaving machine which converts the yarn into a fabric. There is no history of when looms were discovered but one thing is clear that it was before the birth of Jesus christ. There are 2 types of looms: Shuttle Looms and Shuttleless Looms. Below we are going to learn about various types of looms. The end result of this machine is fabric and wholesalers and retailers buy t-shirts in bulk made out of those fabric.
Learn About Shuttle Looms
This is the most primitive loom in the history of loom. In this machine there is a shuttle which contains bobbins and around bobbins there are yarn wounded. In this weaving machine the shuttle travels from one corner to the other and hence the fabric is made. The speed of this machine is 110-225 ppm [Picks Per Minute]. It is quite noisy and inefficient.
Fabric Weaving Without a Shuttle in the Loom Is It Possible?
Projectile Loom
Projectile loom is a shuttleless loom, in this looms instead of a shuttle projectile are there. Projectiles are made out of stainless steel and hence it was light weight. As the projectile lightweight this saves lots of energy and increases the efficiency of the machine. This loom speed was 300 ppm. The weaving takes place when the projectile goes across the width of the loom with the yarn.
Rapier Loom
This loom is also shuttleless. In this loom the weft is carried by a rapier which is a long rod like structure. Many kinds of fabric could be made using this loom and it is highly efficient. The range of GSM things loom could weave is 20-850 GSM. From home fabric to industrial fabric can be made using this loom. There are 4 types of rapier loom in the market.
Single Rigid Rapier Loom
Double Rigid Rapier Loom
Double Flexible Rapier Loom
Telescopic Rapier Loom
Air-Jet Loom
In this loom the yarn is transferred from the force of air, it does not have any shuttle. This loom is highly efficient and versatile. This loom does not make noise because it does not have many moving parts. As the moving parts are less then the floor space requirement and maintenance is low. The weft travels with the help of air pressure and once it reaches the shedding area interlacement takes place. This machine can be used in manufacturing Denim fabric, polyester dress material and cotton shirting fabric.
Water Jet Loom
Water pressure is used in this loom to transfer weft from one end to the other. It is a shuttleless loom machine. The speed of this machine is 600 ppm. This machine is highly efficient but we can use yarn which is hydrophobic, like polyester, polyamides etc. Hydrophilic yarn can not be used.

i want to make mittens. i know what pattern i will use too make the mittens. i cannot decide what yarn to use to make the mittens. i do not make mittens.
#//juri speaks#i mean i'm also Overthinking™ bc i might swap whatever stitch the pattern uses with the thermal stitch#which might change the number of rounds i need and make my life more difficult#and i'm mostly thinking of mittens bc a) it's fucking cold and b) i'm dragging my heels on a shawl i wanna make#bc i can't decide which version of the skull pattern to buy#all this while i have a bag in progress (dragging my heels a lil bc i want to do a cotton fabric liner and don't know how)#and a knit scarf i started like. a billion years ago (dragging my heels a lot bc i simply can't figure out the right grip for the needles#and that makes me sad bc i won't be immediately able to make a cool sweater or smth)#anyway...!

‘’Nother shower thought for the tag.
Does Chai roll up his right sleeve, or does he tear it off too?
...To a crying CNMN in the background.
#Hi-Fi Rush#Hi Fi Rush#A short sleeve is easier to fiddle with than a long sleeve#especially when you're working with Cotton/Jersey Knit vrs heavier fabrics#The deciding factor is the stitching on the sleeve because once that pops

The problem with buying clothes at target is that I have had several pieces from target over the years that have been indestructible with nice details and then other pieces that I've had to throw away after washing once and I just do not have the mental fortitude to shop with that critical of an eye most days
#like truly some of my favorite prettiest clothes ever come from target and I keep them for years!!#i would say do not buy tshirts or any like knit cotton basics#but woven flat fabric can be really nice

Note
you could make cute little bandanas with some of the fabric :D
yeah I could! that sounds better than my current ideas which are
1) tablecloth
2) circus tent
#it’s a knit so it’s one sided#but I could sew it to a cotton backing so it wouldn’t stretch#and so it would cover up the other side#and then turn it inside out#maybe sew across it once or twice like im quilting so it doesn’t shift around#answers#anon#there’s SO much of this fabric my guess is like. at least 3 or 4 yards#(aka 2.7 to 3.7 meters)

Finished my mom's dog's sweater and honestly might make another knit tie because they're so little and fun to experiment with.
#using tumblr like a diary#this is in reference to my lupin iii cosplay knit tie experimenting i've been doing#earlier i got some mercerized cotton lace yarn/crochet thread (??) from daiso with this thought in mind#linen stitch in rayon looks surprisingly nice but i'm curious if i can more closely imitate the fancy “cri de la soie” kind#i've seen it and it's a very open fabric. i'm going to try moss stitch on too-large needles#which is nearly the opposite of linen stitch on too-small ones
