#blue blanket

I love making quilts and blankets, but when I offered one from my stack to a friend, they said that they really only wanted a blue one... so I made this! It started as a spite project but turned into something much better.

The front is made from upholstery samples that I got from a free event aimed at giving away items being sent to landfills. Because of the variety of fabric materials and types, it's a textural wonderland, with each square feeling very different from the ones next to it.

The back is flannel cotton, which is far less interesting.

The moon applique is a completely new technique for me, and one that I'm excited to try again in the future.

I hope my friend likes it. If not, I'll scream! Or at least be really bummed. This thing took a lot of work, and I'm honestly pretty proud of the results.

HAH! I AM VICTORIOUS!

I have finished and shipped off two crocheted blankets for my great aunt who would not stop asking about them! But they're done! They're finished, washed, and shipped off to her.

The only details she gave me for them were "a pink blanket for a newborn baby girl and a blue warm blanket for a toddler boy." THAT'S IT!! No thoughts on the particular color of pink and blue, wasn't willing to look over or discuss pattern options. No. It was simply, "you're so talented, whatever you decide will be beautiful." While she wasn't wrong, they are pretty and functional, I simply despise how many times I ended up changing my mind because all I had to work with was pink and blue.

Now I can go back to focusing on the projects I started before her requests came through.

And maybe build myself a short blanket display stand...hmm.

Blue Chair

Do you remember the summer I sat in the blue chair pulling my sleeves down? You lit a cigarette and I saw your eyes flicker in the heat, when your pupils were pins, they were most beautiful to me. It goes like this, looking at me, makes you feel a lot kind of things, hot to cold, brave to scared, but also fills you with doubt. It scares you. Looking at me scares you. So you think it must be my face, how my eyes light up, or the way my nose crinkles, the hot chocolate taste that lingers on my lips. It must be my determination and at first you can’t sneak enough glances but later even the simplest things send your heart racing. You don’t know who you are when you’re around me. You’re impulsive, like a wildfire, but you know you’re bound to get burned. I leave you feeling weak. And you heart clenches in your chest. You see me wearing your duvet as a cape with my head poking out, and suddenly that blue chair is the key to it all.

currently obsessed with the idea of everyone viewing percy as a forced to never be messed with. for the sea is unpredictable and does not like to be restrained and all that jazz. except, frank and hazel. who only see him as just a little guy. a soldier left to his own devices out on the streets with nothing to comfort him but a panda pillow pet and a lingering memory of a girl he loves. he's just a little guy you guys.
