i dont really like it when people dumb down Curly's characterization to just the guy enabling Jimmy. I get that that makes it easier to not like him, so that's why a lot of people do that, because they feel guilty about sympathizing with someone who's done smth fucked up like that, but i really don't think it's giving Curly the justice he deserves.

regardless of if you like him as a person or not, Curly is still a victim and he suffered greatly at Jimmy's hand. Just because he did something fucked up doesn't make him a 'monster' (sorry because i saw someone say that he looks like a monster post-crash and thats sticking with me because why TF are we saying disabled burn victims look like LITERAL MONSTERS- yall use some common sense I BEG)

Dumbing down characters is what fandom does best, but i think it particularly irks me in Mouthwashing because of the nature of the story. Jimmy already thinks of the rest of the crew poorly and doesn't see them for how they really are, we don't need to be doing that too.

I also feel like people don't really recognize the fact Jimmy manipulates and abuses Curly too, even before the crash. What Curly did was fucked up but for the love, don't dumb him down to just this one thing he did.

Okay so Wrong Organ posted the first part of their Q&A and I want to highlight some of my favorite parts from it.

Daisuke was truly just a kid who wanted to make his parents proud, the guy didn't even wanna be on that ship. He didn't get a chance to find meaning in his life. I want to ******************

We already kinda knew Anya wasn't the best nurse (even with Jimmy's twisted perspective) because her office is littered with beginner books for first aid, but the fact that she tried getting into medical school EIGHT TIMES is heartbreaking. She basically kept Curly alive for like 5 months after the crash completely burned his skin off and left him limbless, she tried her damn best and even that wasn't enough.

Also Curly is British </3 but y'know we lose some I guess.

Ditd has been one of the highlights of my week since chapter 1 came out, I tried to include bunch of little details in the designs and had some fun with the lighting, hence it being extremely dark lol!

NO LIKE THERES SOMETHING ABOUT curly jimmys relationship that doesnt make sense to me (not in a neg way) and its just so interesting.... the give and take. so we all know the main thing that jim takes — curly gives in this friendship: curlys seemingly endless support and willingness to see good in jimmy. and we all know just how severe and detrimental of a mistake this ends up being on curlys part, its a huge part of mw's story as a whole and everything

so then .. what does curly take — jimmy give? seriously what exactly does curly receive in return from jim after committing so much of himself into this? i GENUINELY would love to see what someone elses take on this would be, because i cannot come up with a good answer to this question that doesnt veer into being headcanon more than anything. a shoulder to lean on? someone to vent to? fucking, nothing? ig it just really drives home the point that jimmys just a parasite huh..

Something so funny (unfortunately at the expense of Daisuke rip our unproblematic king) is that both Swansea and Jimmy belittle Anya for being a "bad nurse", yet she was able to keep Curly alive by herself despite the severity of his injuries and limited medical supply and experience for months. Daisuke's injuries, while terrible, were FAR less severe and they just ended up killing him in way less than 24 hours without her XD Like who's the terrible nurse now bitches
