“Kiwi, whipping cream, vanilla, honey, and haircut?” the groceries were no longer significant as Kento walked over the kitchen threshold.
The lack of a trim was obvious in the last few weeks; Anniversary trip with an immediate work trip after left no time for a barber visit. Kento eventually was able to pencil in an appointment.
“Hmm?”
“You got a haircut.”
Kento looked up from his phone and in your direction. “Oh, yeah. Itadori-kun and I went to the barber before he went out with his friends. It was time to get a proper cut.” he sat at the kitchen table, legs spread as he faced you. Vastly different from the uniformed 7:3 style he usually dawned, it was down and in its much more relaxed state. A vision of perfection in the form of blonde locks.
You wasted no time skipping over to him, standing between said legs. “Did you get it shorter than usual?” manicured hands combing through the blonde locks that framed his face, the corner of his lip tightened, lifting as his eyebrow raised.
“Don't think so. Just didn't have him add pomade to style it like usual. Does it look bad?”
Not one for wasting time, you went to the undercut immediately and began dragging your nail tips over the fresh cut as you sat in his lap.
“Who told you to be this handsome?” Warm, inviting sparks seemed to make their way across your soft paunch as he palmed the part of your ass that hung off his lap.
“I apologize for being so easy on the eyes. I'll have to work on that.”
“Please do. It's distracting, Kento. My poor grocery list isn't completed.”
The nippy sensation of his lips found your jaw. Small, butterfly kisses against your cheek as his lips danced down your neck. “My poor wife, unable to finish her daunting task because I cause such disruptions.” The delicate trace of his middle finger sliding the strap of your dress down your shoulder sent a shot of electricity between your thighs. “This will be rectified later.”
“Y-yeah… poor me.” faint but heard loud and clear as it spilled from your lips.
“Though.” you groaned from the lack of contact as he pulled away to gab. “I could do the grocery shopping for you. I still have to get my dry cleaning.”
“Absolutely the fuck not.”
“No?”
“No.” sighing as you stood up. “You’re a little too handsome today. I'll get the groceries and pick up your dry cleaning before 3. You stay here and be handsome in the privacy of our home.”
Kento scoffed, tisking as he came up to you, trapping your body against the counter. “Well then you can't go either.” cocking your head a few degrees, puzzlement filled your face. “I can't?”
“How did you word it? Absolutely the fuck not.” a mischief-laden smile made its way onto his face.
“Why not?”
“Because you're looking a little too heavenly today and the thought of another man being able to drink in this perfection might send me over the edge.” Sliding to the side, Kento picks up the grocery list. “I'd hate to cause a scene at the deli service counter.” he adds a few more items before folding and placing the paper in his pocket.
“You’re driving. And I'd like to stop for boba after we get your dry-cleaning.”
Kento smacked your rear. “Anyrhing for you.”
The micro-moments that kept your marriage exciting always seemed to be in the kitchen.

SIMPLE AUTUMN GLAM: FAITH’S GUIDE
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OVERVIEW
This is a warm, everyday, completely matte look for the autumn season. The focus areas are the eyes, brows and lips.
PRODUCTS
Primer
Baby Powder
Foundation
Concealer
Pressed Powder
Setting Powder
Brow Gel
Brow Pomade
Eyeliner
Lash Glue/ Bonding Glue
Strip Lashes/ Cluster Lashes
Burgundy/ Dark Brown/ Dark Mauve Lipstick
Lip Liner in the same colour
TOOLS
Powder Brush
Beauty Blender
FIRST
Apply a small amount of lip balm to your lips
BASE
Skincare done prior to makeup
Apply primer all over your face
#faithtip: use a powder brush to apply baby powder all over your face
Your face will look ashy and dry after this step, but applying foundation/tinted moisturiser will fix this
Blend it in with a damp beauty blender
#faithtip: dampen your beauty blender with a matte setting spray for easier blending and a longer-lasting matte base
After blending in your foundation/tinted moisturiser, apply a concealer that is only slightly lighter than your skin tone to the inner corner of your under-eye
Place concealer to the end of your under-eyes following the shape of your eyes
Blend it in well with a beauty blender
When blending with the beauty blender, be sure to follow your natural eye shape
Take a powder brush and some pressed powder and apply all over your face
Now, apply setting powder to your under eyes, using a beauty blender, following your eye shape.
Place a line of setting powder under your cheeks
Let the setting powder sit whilst you move on to your brows
Tumblr media
BROWS
Brush through your brows and shape them with brow gel
Use pomade and a small brow brush to draw a line on the bottom of your eyebrows, following the shape of your brows
Tumblr media
Draw a similar line following the shape at the top of tour brows
Tumblr media
Fill your brows in within the lines
Tumblr media
Brush through your brows again with brow gel
Tumblr media
After this, apply concealer under your brows
The concealer should look like you have painted an outline of your eyebrows
Blend this in with a beauty blender
Use a beauty blender to apply loose powder underneath and on top of your brows, let it sit.
Tumblr media
EYELINER
#faithtip: Use a black eyeliner pencil to draw out the shape of your eyeliner first and use the pencil or liquid liner to fill it in.
Apply eyeliner that best suits your eye shape

LASHES
For everyday, wearing lash clusters/ lash extensions are much quicker than applying lashes everyday
STRIP LASHES
But for this step apply glue to strip lashes
Wave the lashes around for a bit so the glue dries a tiny bit and feels a little bit sticky
Place them on the lash line and adjust where needed (using tweezers or fingers)
youtube
youtube
CLUSTER LASHES
Strip lashes can also be cut into smaller pieces or use cluster lashes
Dip them into glue and wipe off the excess
Use tweezers to hold the lashes
Pull the top of your eyelid upwards so you can see underneath your eyelashes
#faithtip Wipe the glue on the part you are applying to then you can dip the lash in glue again before actually placing it underneath your lash
This make the lashes more firm and secure
Make sure it is not too close to your eye as this can be irritating
Fan your eyes if you can still feel wet glue
youtube
BACK TO THE BASE
Using a powder brush, brush away/blend out the loose powder, under your eyes, under your cheeks and around your eyebrows
Blend VERY well, as the powder has been sat on your face for a while, so it will not move easily
After this, apply a warm gold/bronze tone highlighter on the tip of your nose
You can also apply highlighter to the inner corners of your eyes
Apply in moderation and blend slightly to keep the focus on the eyes and lips.
Now use setting spray (holding it not too close to your face) over your face 3-4 times
LIPS
Apply a dark brown, dark mauve or dark mauve matte lipstick to your lips
Use a slightly darker lip liner to outline your lips
If the lip liner line is harsh, use a brush to create an ombré effect
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s the makeup look done.
Thanks for reading,
Kiss Kiss
Faith xx

can you go more in depth on beauty secrets by geishas? i’ve always found them so interesting.
Geisha are very secretive about their inner lives, so it's hard to know for sure things like exactly what they would have done during their skincare routine or what kind of perfume they used, but we do know about their makeup, hair, and clothing. A lot of this information comes from the most successful geiko of Kyoto, Mineko Iwasaki's memoir Geisha, A Life (also known as Geisha of Gion), which was controversial among her peers as she revealed a lot of behind the scenes info on what life as a geisha is like. It's a very interesting read if you're interested in the inner lives of geisha. It can be downloaded on Libgen.
The Geisha Ideal
Mineko Iwasaki described how a geisha is meant to look:
She has the classic looks of a Heian princess, as though she might have stepped out of an eleventh-century scroll painting. Her face is a perfect oval. Her skin is white and flawless, her hair black as a raven’s wing. Her brows are half moons, her mouth a delicate rosebud. Her neck is long and sensuous, her figure gently rounded.
Makeup
Geisha wear highly stylised makeup derived from the kabuki tradition.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Foundation: Bintsuke oil paste is applied to the face, neck, and upper back as a base.
White Makeup: White face powder, made of rice powder, is mixed with water to form a paste. The face, neck, and upper chest are painted. Three stripes on the back of the neck are left unpainted in order to emphasize its slenderness, as in Japan the nape of the neck is considered beautiful. If wearing ordinary kimonos instead of formal outfit, only two lines will be left unpainted.
Eyebrows and eyes: As their eyebrows have been covered up by the white makeup, they are redrawn in pencil or charcoal. Black eyeliner is worn on the top lash line. Maiko (trainee geisha) use distinctive red eye makeup, whereas as geisha wear black eye makeup or may use subtle red makeup at the start of their brows. A crescent moon eyebrow shape is preferred.
Blush: Maiko wear pink blush on their cheeks, whereas geishas faces are completely white.
Lips: Maiko only paint one of their lips, while geisha paint both lips. They use a bold red lipstick which is derived from the red safflower, mixing it with water (and some also add sugar). They use a brush to paint a shape a bit smaller than their natural lip shape, as small lips are considered delicate. Tatcha has a lipstick called Kyoto Red which is in the same shade of red that geishas use.
Older geisha typically only wear a full face of makeup for performances and special occasions.
In the past, geisha would paint their teeth black, but today it is very uncommon, although some Kyoto geisha still practice it.
Hair
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are different hairstyles for different stages of a geisha's career.
Junior maiko wear the wareshinobu (split peach) style.
Senior maiko wear the ofuku style
Yakko is worn for formal events
Katsuyama is worn for one month before and one month after the Gion Festival in July
The sakko is worn in the final month of a maiko's training. On their very last day as a maiko, the tie holding their topknot is ritually cut off.
After becoming geisha, they wear the shimada hairstyle, an elaborate high chignon.
Mineko Iwasaki's description of the wareshinobu style:
The hair is swept up and sculpted into a mass on the top of the head that is secured by red silk bands (kanoko) front and back and decorated with kanzashi, the stick pin ornaments so distinctive of the karyukai look. It is said that this simple, elegant style showcases the curve of the young girl’s neck and the freshness of her features to their best advantage.
To preserve their elaborate hairstyles, geisha would sleep on a rectangular lacquered wooden pillow topped with a narrow cushion. If a girl found it difficult to sleep on these pillows, the maids would sprinkle rice bran around the pillow, so that if the girl removed the pillow, bits of bran would stick to the pomade in her hair, forcing her to have to go to the hairdressers again. Geisha would visit the hairdressers every five days.
These days geisha just wear wigs, which as well as being more convenient, also prevent bald spots from forming, a common problem geisha in the past dealt with due to constant stress on the roots of their hair. Maiko are still required to use their real hair.
Geisha also got their faces shaved when they went to the hairdresser.
As well as wearing their hair in elaborate styles, geisha also decorate them with ornaments. This description is of the first set of hair ornaments Mineko Iwasaki wore:
I wore two hairpins tipped with silk plum blossoms (because it was February) on the sides of the back of the bun, a pair of silver flutters (bira) on the sides in front, an orange blossom pin (tachibana) on top, and a long pin tipped with balls of red coral (akadama) and jade, inserted horizontally through the base.
Maiko wear colourful hair ornaments with flower motifs that change every month.
Full-fledged geisha don't wear as many hair ornaments, just a simple comb and hairpins, and their hairpins aren't as elaborate as the ones worn by maikos.
The hair ornaments serve purposes other than just decoration. The pointed ends of the pins are used to protect geisha from attacks, and the coral ornaments worn in colder months are used to test whether sake has been poisoned as coral breaks in the presence of poison.
Fashion
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maiko wear more elaborate outfits than geisha do in order to compensate for their lack of expertise and knowledge. Mineko Iwasaki described one of her maiko outfits this way:
My kimono was made out of figured satin in variegated turquoise. The heavy hem of the train was dyed in shades of burnt orange, against which floated a drift of pine needles, maple leaves, cherry blossoms and chrysanthemum petals. My obi was made of black damask decorated with swallowtail butterflies. I wore a matching obi clasp of a swallowtail butterfly fashioned out of silver.
I carried the traditional handbag called a kago, which has a basketweave base topped by a drawstring pouch of colorful tie dyed silk, shibori, which is made by tying silk into a myriad of minute knots with thread before it is dyed. The result is a stunning dappled effect. Kyoto is famous for this technique. It is the one that was practiced by my mother.
The shibori of my handbag was pale peach and sported a design of cabbage butterflies. It held my dancing fan (decorated with the three red diamonds of the Konoe family [close advisers to the emperor] painted on a gold background), a red-and-white hand towel decorated in a matching pattern, a boxwood comb, and various other accessories. All of these were encased in covers made from the same silk as the bag, and all of them were monogrammed.
Maiko wear a collar called eri, which is hand-sewn onto the nagajuban (a robe worn under the kimono) for each wearing. These red collars tell a story in and of themselves. They are made from silk that has been finely embroidered with white, silver, and gold thread. The younger one is the less dense the embroidery and the more visible the red of the silk. As one matures, the appliqué becomes heavier until little red (a symbol of childhood) can be seen. The progression continues until the day one “turns one’s collar” from maiko to geiko and begins to wear a white collar instead of a red one.
Under their clothes, geisha wear two rectangular undergarments made of cotton, one wrapped tight around the chest and the other wrapped tight around the hips. This helps flattens and smoothes the lines of the kimono. Next comes a long cotton hip wrap, like a half-slip, then a pair of long bloomers to preserve modesty should the front fold of the kimono open.
Next comes the hadajuban, a loose blouselike garment that follows the lines of the kimono. A maiko’s hadajuban has a red collar. Over this, a full length under robe is worn called a nagajuban. Mineko Iwasaki described hers as being "made from tie-died silk figured with a fan-shaped pattern and embroidered with an assortment of flowers."
After their undergarments are on, the kimono and obi (sash) are put on. Their kimono and obi have different designs for each season. For example, in summer, a kimono with hydrangeas might be worn and in Autumn a kimono with maple leaves might be worn. Kimonos for the winter months are made from thicker silk than kimonos for the warm months.
Geisha wear kimonos with more subdued colours and shorter obis than maiko do. A maiko's long obi will sometimes have the crest of the okiya she lives in on it. The clothes worn by geisha and maiko alike are made of expensive silk and are tailor made.
Geisha aren't dressed by themselves, but rather they have professional dressers who dress them every day. The dressers must ensure perfection, and they are the ones who bear the blame if anything is missing, out of place, or seasonally inappropriate.
Mineko describes a maiko's shoes as thus:
Kimono are always worn with either wooden or leather sandals. Okobo, 6-inch-high clog-like wooden sandals, are a distinctive part of a maiko’s outfit. The height of the sandal is a counterbalance to the dangling ends of the maiko’s long obi. Okobo are difficult to walk in, but the mincing gait they ensure is thought to add to the maiko’s allure.
Maiko and geiko always wear white tabi socks. The big toe of the tabi is separated, like a mitten, so that the toes can grip the sandal easily. We wear socks one size smaller than our shoe size, which leads a neat and dainty appearance to the foot.
First year maiko's shoes have little bells dangling from them that makes a sound when they move. Geisha wear flat zori or geta rather than okobo.
The finishing touches to a geisha's outfit are a kimono bag and a fan.
Skincare
We don't know what geisha did when they were sat in front of their mirrors after removing makeup, but we can speculate based on the kind of skincare Japanese women used in times past.
Translucent, white skin was a Japanese ideal of feminine beauty, so they might have used whitening face creams. Camellia oil is commonly used as a cleanser, moisturiser, and to remove makeup in Japan. Rice bran is also used as a cleanser (it's good for dissolving binsuke) and ground azuki beans are used as an exfoliater. Cooled green tea, full of antioxidants, is used as a toner. Squalane and seaweed are used as moisturizers. Parasols are used to protect the skin from the sun.
Mineko Iwasaki describes a bath she took after a long day:
I lowered myself gingerly into the steaming water and soaked until my skin was supple. Then I got out of the tub and, with a bucket and hot water from a spigot in the wall, washed thoroughly with soap and water. Next I rubbed myself all over with a net pouch filled with rice bran. Rice bran contains a significant amount of Vitamin B and is great for the skin. Then I got back in the tub for a final soak.
Geisha also bathe in onsens.
Perfume
We do know geisha wear perfume, but specific fragrances are hard to pin down.
Guerlain made a perfume called "Yakko," inspired by the geisha Sadayakko, who was the first geisha to travel Europe, inspired Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, and licensed her name to a range of beauty products. It's hard to find any information on the Yakko perfume or what notes it contained, but Guerlain's famous Mitsouko perfume came out in 1919. Inspired by Japan, it contains bergamot, peach, jasmine, rose, and spices.
In the early 20th century, perfumes by French designers like Guerlain, Coty, Chanel and Patou became fashionable among upper class Japanese women, so it's possible geisha used fragrances from these houses to further enhance their allure.
Mineko Iwasaki described one of the first geisha she knew as wearing strong perfume, which caused a cloud of scent to waft into the room every time she fluttered her fan, so perhaps in times past geisha wore perfumes with loud projection that helped them be noticed. In modern Japan, strong perfume is unpopular, as it can bother people on public transport and interfere with the smell and taste of food in restaurants. Geisha, being the perfect hostesses, may not choose a heavy perfume in the modern era so as to follow etiquette and not disturb their clients while they're enjoying a nice meal. Brands known for their light perfumes like Maison Margiela and Diptyque are top-sellers in Japan.
Until the mid 19th century in Japan, it was common for women to scent their kimonos by leaving them on top of an incense burner in a small cage.
Geisha and oiran (courtesans) would carry pieces of scented wood in their sleeves, and would rub scented powder into their hands and necks.
Misc
Mineko Iwasaki described carrying a handbag which contained her fan, a hand towel, lipstick, comb, and a small cushion. Every item had its own carrying case made from Eriman red silk and monogrammed in white with the characters for Mineko.
Shiseido, a brand which is still going strong today, was founded in Japan in 1872. Among their most popular early cosmetics were scented hair tonics and floral perfumes, which were considered to contribute to the brand's luxurious image, helping to make it popular with Japan's upper class. Geisha were at the forefront of beauty and sophistication, so while there's no documentation of it, it's likely that some of their products found their way into the toilettes of geisha due to its prominence in early 20th century Japan and sophisticated image.
A big part of the geisha's appeal isn't just her looks, but her demeanor, the way she moves, and her conversational skills. Geisha train in dance and traditional Japanese arts and are experts at having sophisticated conversations. Not going to go into too much detail as it's its own topic, but it's good to remember that a big part of their mystique comes from their talent, grace and etiquette, not just their physical beauty. They're the full package, not just part of it.

Diana I am going to ask you a weird question but I cannot think of anyone else who would have an answer for me, and you are so learned in the ways of cosmetics. Is there any easy way to make one's eyebrows funny colours in the short term? I mean, not dying them, but like, could I put eyeshadow on them? Maybe lipstick? What would happen if I brushed nail polish on them? Honestly I don't even know why I would want my eyebrows to be funny colours, but since the idea came into my head I cannot stop thinking about it.
good news I do this a lot for cosplay so I actually know!
it’s easier if your brows aren’t super black (mine are a dark grey brown), but even then, here’s some go to methods I use in order of how often I use them
1) use a white creamy base (I go for nyx jumbo pencil in milk because I’m old school), brush it with a spoolie to evenly coat, and use colored eyeshadow to fill like brow powder. Sometimes I’m super lazy and just skip the white base, especially if I’ve bleached my brows a bit
2) colored pomade. When I had burgundy hair this was my daily go to! The best I’ve tried is by KVD (which no longer gives money to Kat Von D?? they bought her out but kept the name).
3) color mascara
4) if you have a weird color liquid lipstick… well don’t contaminate your lipstick with an eyebrow brush or your actual eyebrows (put it on a palette and then pick it up!!!) but it works
Nail polish is right out.

baking happens after you use all of your liquid and cream products. so foundation, concealer, cream, blush, etc.
(ex. cream blush would go before baking but powder blush can go after bc there’s no need to bake it)
baking is typically for full/heavier faces of makeup so it’s not a commonly used for makeup trends lately since they focus more on natural “no makeup” makeup. instead they use a light layer of setting powder (also used for making) or a pressed powder to set their face. it’s not even always used all over, sometimes just in my oily spots.
i personally just set under my eyes and use setting spray for the rest of my face because i hate looking too matte (but i do keep pressed powder on me when it’s hot out just to get rid of any oil that may show up throughout the day)
so baking doesn’t necessarily come after contour if the contour is powder, i’m p sure you can do it after. i’ll try to find a good tutorial but tiktoks search system is so fucked rn so give me some time.
https://www.ipsy.com/blog/baking-vs-setting-makeup
this is also a very good article explaining the difference between baking and regular setting. but i find a visual tutorial is always a little better.
you can do your base routine before or after eye makeup it’s really just a personal preference. i do mine before bc i have my go -to eye routine so on lock that i’m not concerned about fucking it up. i know a lot of professional make up artists do it first bc sometimes the way their eye makeup looks will dictate the placement of some parts of their base routine.
contour goes on the parts of your face where there are shadows. hollows of your cheeks, jawline, nose. i’ve been told to blend cheek contour upwards to make your face more sharp looking, and blend your jaw contour down to achieve that same effect.
bronzer (if you’re into that) would go on the parts of your face that the sun hit bc it’s supposed to warm you up. i tend to skip this step bc there aren’t a lot of cool toned bronzers.
idk if you put eyeshadow under your eyes too but i think it looks really nice. a small brush + blending it out just a bit under your waterline + eyeliner in your waterline!!! so good
i don’t have the right eyes for lashes (f in the chat for me) so i just really make sure my mascara is a good one. essence lash princess (the one with the green on it) is super affordable and very good. also maybelline has a shit time of popular and really good mascaras that are cheap as hell
pastes/pomades for brows are great, i use one regularly but i’m very light with my strokes bc i was once told i look like a villain if my brows are too bold. brow pencils are also great if you want preciseness
i also learned how to do my makeup through trial and error. a LOT of trial and error bc i A) suck at follow tutorials and B) didn’t have similar features to any of the people i was watching. so i just had to figure it out on my own so i really recommend that no matter what tutorials you watch A) adapt them to your face shape and B) continue using trial and error and explore your face and features on your own
i’ll be back with some vids if i can find any :)
idc about makeup trends rn with the whole "natural" "cleaner" look fuck that. i have a guy's face that needs to be painted over with gothic meets party girl makeup. thank you for explaining baking and for the blush bit. i typically don't use any blush at all and i don't see myself using it in the future, i've never been a fan of how it looks on me
the tip about keeping pressed powder on you for oily bits throughout the day, and the link are supremely helpful thank you smm
got it i'll skip the bronzer i didn't know if there was a cool toned version of it to use
i have like old mascara that i inherited from one of my sisters so ill prolly get a new one soon thank u for the tips, and for the eyebrows i have the clay/pomade like i told u but i got too light of a color so do that first and then i darken it with black eyeshadow and then i sharpen it using concealer which is what u saw in the pic. i think i could stand to make them darker bcos i like bold eyebrows but i guess it might make me look too masculine which would defeat the purpose of wearing the full face of makeup to warp those existing traits
the paragraph about learning through trial and error was literally what i've been doing my entire experience with makeup. no mainstream makeup looks ever complimented me and i wasnt rly going for a drag look bcos i'm trying to be a touch more subtle with it. the problem i was running into which drove me to ask the chat for tips is bcos im self taught that means a lot of stuff i don't know how to works or what to ask or the order etc so you've been extremely helpful on that front especially with building confidence so thank you

Im 15 so I dont really get some of the millennial slang but I do have a question…….
What was the most popular like songs during that time yk? Like what was EVERYONE listening to and like what was something that everyone did (dressed, makeup, hair, music, shows) all that
Was it cool fr to live like that?
Not related to the blog, but it kinda is since he is 36 so like he was born during that time yk
Also was AHS a big thing when it came out like everyone and they mama was watching that?? Mbn fr💯💯
hello youth, sit back and let me tell you about what life was like starting way back in 2012 when thee evan peters became an important figure in my and many others lives! i mean, it was very cool to me, but maybe that's how everyone remembers their youth because i was 20 years old.
tumblr was the social media platform of choice for cool kids. not that we didn't love twitter and instagram, but tumblr was where you went for your fandom fix and to chat with like-minded folks. and to post and reblog many-a gif sets and graphics. somewhere on a hard drive are thousands of gif sets and graphics i created in my heyday as a successful criminal minds blogger and matthew gray gubler devotee. but i digress..
in 2012 rihanna was still making music, katy perry was enjoying relevancy, one direction was taking off, plenty of other still familiar names were putting out music at the peak of their success.. but if you spent time on tumblr you were sure to find plenty of listeners of lana del rey, frank ocean, the weeknd, marina and the diamonds, the 1975, arctic monkeys, and lorde to name a few.
in 2012 fashionistas everywhere committed to wearing awful peplum tops and dresses. not me, but i'll never forgive this. black, sometimes ripped skinny jeans, graphic print statement tees, big wedge sneakers, gaudy prints like chevron and nautical themed clothing and accessories.. oh, and these particular platforms that had women everywhere in a chokehold:
Tumblr media
and good luck finding photos of any woman from this time-frame whose eyebrows did not look like this, because anastasia beverly hills popularized pencils and pomades to allow you to channel your inner cara delevingne (very relevant)
Tumblr media
yes, bold make-up was in. smoky eyes and ''beachy waves'' in your hair! what a time to be alive.
and yes: AHS was quite a big deal when it first came out. it was hard to escape people talking about it online. and for several years after it debuted.. if AHS, and specifically evan peters, had not been so inescapable on this app, i would never have ''discovered'' him.
oh to be alive in 2012, listening to channel orange and feverishly refreshing tumblr for more gif sets of evan peters.

What are your favorite beauty and haircare products?
oh man this is such an important question to me. i'm going to take it in order of types of product
skincare: i can't rave enough about the Paula's Choice BHA. It's done WONDERS for my skin in just the couple of weeks i've been using it. I absolutely love it. Also i just started testing the supergoop unseen sunscreen (and actually all their spf products) and i love love love them all already.
primer: milk hydrogrip. i've tried so many. but this, this, is the best.
foundation: fenty beauty hydrating foundation!!! also the make up forever ultra HD stick foundation. sooo gorgeous. buttery. incredibly easy to blend. hydrating. love love love.
concealer: i've been using the kosas concealer lately - it's solid! very natural. i think i'd have liked a bit more coverage but it blends sooo beautifully and feels amazing.
powder: laura mercier setting powder. i love her. i need her. also the fenty beauty pressed powder for touch-ups and a second setting powder.
blush: how to even express. i love blush. colourpop supershock blushes are amazing. so bouncy and delicious. RARE BEAUTY LIQUID BLUSHES i will SWEAR by these. my favorite blushes are brown and terracotta colors, and the rare beauty terracotta is soooo gorgeous. i also love the fenty beauty cream blush. i have a lovely brown/maroon color. obsessed with it.
highlighter: sorry, no one can beat the colourpop supershock highlighters. (though the rare beauty liquid illuminator is STUNNING especially paired with the blushes.)
eyeliner: even though my eyeliner is my signature, i actually don't have an eyeliner that i'm obsessed with. the closest one was the NYC (not NYX) eyeliner but that's been discontinued. i just pick up whatever and make it work. i HATE felt tip eyeliners, i much prefer brush-tip, and I don't like the really vinyl-y ones that peel off. i want them to be streaks of paint. eyeliner pencils, i love colourpop and urban decay. i really enjoy pops of color!
eyeshadow: my most used palettes are the ABH soft glam, the colourpop it's a mood mega palette, and the colourpop good sport palette. but i have...too many eyeshadow palettes and singles lol.
eyebrow products: i have naturally thick eyebrows and when they're threaded, they don't really need a whole lot. i used to use the LA Girl brow pomade but ever since i lost mine (lol) i've just been using tinted brow gel and that's enough for me to get a teensy bit more fullness and keep them set. i've been going between the essence dark brown tinted brow gel AND the colourpop dark brown tinted brow gel. my only complaint about the latter is that it's tiny so it runs out very quickly but it's my favorite.
haircare: i'm still working on figuring out exactly what works for me but i've really been enjoying the shea moisture leave in condition that's like. maracuja and fig? i think? it's really nice. also the hibiscus (hah) curling cream is really nice too!

making peace with liquid eyeliner
the star of the show is BLP's power liner in shade Crimson. i bought both it and shade Cobalt on sale. It's been years of not using eyeliner because I've always subbed it with eyeshadow (and i still love doing that) but I wanted to take a crack at an eyeliner pen. it was painstaking to take decent pictures; My favorite eye got the short end of the stick with the eyeliner, had to go back a couple of time to tightline, had to keep the white balance in check (it was golden hour), and i had to tilt my head/camera is juuust the right angle so the shoddy tightline work wasn't extremely visible. Just things I usually could handle if I were operating sans-eyeliner. now to get to the meat of things:
For eyeshadow im using Febble's Solar (warm yellow) all over the crease, blended with Polar (soft orange). On the lids i concentrated the shade Savana (vibrant orang) from The Nobles 2 palette, working it through Polar. For the outer V i deepened the shade using a mix of Victoria (cool red) from The Nobles and Reverie (dark warm brown) from the Akita palette. All over the 1/2 front of the lid i used my fingers to apply the shimmer Illusion from Febble and i copied the same color scheme for the bottom of the lid.
I used a black pencil eyeliner from silkygirl to fill out my upper waterline, used somethinc's Tipsy mascara, and used leftover eyebrow pomade from miniso (shade dark coffee from the 3in1 eyebrow and eyeliner line)
For complexion i used rabit habbit's concealer in shade beige/vanilla and set it with pinkflash translucent setting powder
that was very wordy! phew
