YES WATCHED A LETS PLAY ALMOST THREW UP FROM THE DREAD.... absolutely phenomenal game!!! i've been watching a ton of indie horror game LPs recently but i think mouthwashing is one of the only ones that made me viscerally uncomfortable to the extent i had to pause it and do something else for a bit lol. masterclass in unspooling a tragic story + unreliable narrative line in non-chronological order while keeping up the tension, and the surreal scenes were something else. on the whole, a really great twist on the classic "monster among us" framework... the real horror was capitalism and narcissism all along..........

preliminary conclusions about Suzume in ep45:

It's entirely the wording.

I don't have a problem with having one domestic-driven woman in an ensemble cast like kingoh's. The problem is when it was Suzume, someone who was so far written as cunning, ambitious and endurant, the transition needs a strong base. Right now, it looks like Suzume is just going with what the men in her life wanted, as we could only interpret she made the choice to stay behind the camera.

I believe Suzume's confession should've been motivated by her sense of home and country. She should've expanded on what a "woman of Toufu" means. Instead of complying to "her brother"'s will, it should've been as a citizen of Toufu, her king trusted her, and she'll gladly take up the mantle even if it means sacrificing her personal happiness.

Her choice to stay by Racules could've come from "home before country". She has found her temple - wants to build her own temple - prove herself in a personal domain before becoming responsible for all families in Toufu. Then it could even tie into Gira's "everyone's a small king" philosophy.

Or she could've rejected the throne because of her ambition. She has wanted the throne for herself, but she knew there's a reason Iroki chose Kaguragi instead of her. She wanted power, but she also wanted her lover. She knew she had to choose between her country or a traitor for a husband, and after years of deception, she doesn't want to lie to the people that she did all this for in the first place. Or that it's her redemption for letting Dugded loose during the six months of the kings' absence, as Queen of a puppet Shugoddom.

This is the elephant in the room. I have more regarding the episode's pacing and contrasts, how the theme of inheritance was handled, as well as Suzume's trajectory in consideration of the whole series. I have nitpicks about both eng subs so an extra paragraph about translation. I want to respond to some other angles but don't know when for now.

Tbf to Dorothea's hypocrisy on CF, couldn't that be blamed more on the fact that the vast majority of the optional recruits in that route are written heavily out-of-character so they can side with Edelgard, including Dorothea herself?

It doesn't fix 3H not realizing that she's much more priviliged than an average commoner, but i feel like Dorothea being hypocritical on CF is is more an example of that route's generally clownish character writing than something specifically wrong with her imo.

If it weren't for Ferdinand I'd say sure, but that specific aspect of her hypocrisy stays with her no matter the route. She's never angry at Edelgard. Ever. She's only ever regretful that they have to fight each other, and never shows off that she feels betrayed by Edelgard's actions. She can stay pissed at Ferdinand for what he did as a fuckin' NINE YEAR OLD CHILD put into AN INSANELY FLUSTERING SITUATION for a child to be randomly put into out of nowhere - and stay mad at him FOR OVER A DECADE - because it hurt her feelings, but she had a chill year with Edelgard (that gets revealed to her to be built on a foundation of lies and blood) so that means she's chill with Edelgard's

and will NEVER bring that event up, and will NEVER get pissed at her for doing it. Even though HER LIFE WAS NEARLY ENDED because of it.

And also, she still does explicitly hate nobility on all routes - she will lambast them for crawling back to the player's army once Edelgard is defeated out of self-interest. She'll praise and cry for Bergliez for giving up his life to spare his men, and that and hating nobles would all be just fine... except she does all this without ever acknowledging who exactly it was that caused Bergliez's sacrifice to be a necessity in the first place. You know, the one who threw everyone into war? For her own benefit? That thing Dorothea literally just got finished showing off she didn't like nobles doing? But it's fine if her bestie does it!

So, not really - while CF certainly does exacerbate these issues in Dorothea, they are always there to some degree regardless of where she's at

Hahaha, the view is also is due to the kind of exposure they have been cultivated with! =') The narrow view of what they actually have been exposed to rather than the full picture! (Because I think they had people treating them badly ever since they were instated into their position. Heck! At their beginning point they could have been a lot different personality wise, but time and experience lead them to shut down more caring attributes.) They never got the chance to have that wider viewpoint or to see humans living in harmony with robots. A lot of the people they interacted with weren't good people. ='o

Like growing up in a toxic family, that's... all you know. ^^; ) If years of experience tells you that you are treated like dirt and people don't care about your feelings, only results. . . that screws people up. A lot. . .

To be honest, I think seeing those things would be really good for them. Knowing that the things they have witnessed with wars and planet posioning and uncaring folks... is a fraction not an entirity. There are good people out there, and there are people who support and care and want the world to be better and more understanding and loving.

It may even give them a glimmer of hope for the future. ^^

i dont remember what the movie was called, but i remember watching a movie at night with my parents in bed which i DEFINETELY shouldn't be watching and they told me several times not to do so but i still did it, and it got to a part where there was a huge crowd of people outside a couples room which they were staying in because the woman was giving birth. and the moment she closed her eyes, the man took the baby and gave it to the crowd to have the baby surf on said crowd, and right after that the last thing i remembered was a splat and the movie showing a scene of the fetus sitting on the ground as a man kept chanting it wasn't dead

i dont remember the movie name at all but if anyone out there does know what it is please tell me because this has stuck with me ever since then and i remember having a whole ass mental breakdown over it which was mostly my fault
