This is a god tier take you're all so correct. Personally I really like the Arohet Denji headcannon because whenever you see Denji have "romantic" interest it's really sexual attraction and a want for intimacy. It could be immaturity but to me as a Aro-spec person it calls to experiences I've had being unable to understand/define romantic attraction for myself. I always looked at it as "Just loving people" and being unable to define the line between Romantic love and Platonic love. That it feels more like he's conflating the two, which is typical for most people, but I find he doesn't really feel it in the romantic department. A lot of what he does he also does with his friends/coworkers except the sexual stuff but even then the line is blurred. Then you look at Denji's most important lasting relationships, are Platonic. Power, Aki, and Nayuta being the most important in my opinion. Power I think esp shows that what Denji truly craves is intimacy rather then a romantic relationship. He's close with power, holding her close, sleeping in the same bed as her, taking a bath with her, stuff that can be typically read as romantic but he himself doesn't find himself attracted to her. Yet, he doesn't stop the closeness. I would even say with Makima he wanted to be close with her, not really be her boyfriend. Like he never really defines himself as anyone's Partner in a romantic sense, even with Asa. It's Asa that defines him as her boyfriend, or as them trying to go on dates. To Denji, its just stuff you do with people you're close with. Or want to be close with. The line, the definition of Romance and Friendship is never defined by Denji himself. He just follows what he assumes the script is, and I think discovering he doesn't really want a Romantic Partner would be a important development for Denji. It allows himself to be free of the burden, and would allow him to have his closeness without defining it.

To me, he clearly has and knows he has sexual attraction, I just think his romantic attraction isn't really there. That closeness doesn't have to equal romantic, and I think Denji figuring that out could help him in the long-run.

Genuinely I think Chainsaw Man ends with Denji being queer in SOME way. I used to be a cishet Denji truther early on because he was aggressively straight and dudeish but now it is more clear than ever he is absolutely that way because he is Fucked Up Beyond Belief and I see the light

declassified ex-patreon post: the empty city

Pictured (click tha link for full piece) - Rosy Wing and Patches on a romantic evening, before Rosy's death. Aerial displays are an important courtship activity, serving to reinforce the pair's bond year after year.

The endless city is exactly what it sounds like. It covers the top of the Houndstooth mountain range like a growth of moss on a boulder. It comprises of buildings made entirely of pure white limestone right down to the window latticework and roof shingles. The doorways and rooms are scaled strangely, not appearing to conform to human sizes, and the horizontal architecture alignment (i.e not built to accommodate flying creatures) seems to suggest that insects didn't build it either. There are no organic materials naturally occurring within the city, not even microbial life, although some has been introduced in recent years by expeditioneers. Some parts of the city have been claimed by the rich patrons of expedition teams, and are guarded 24/7 by armed patrols - usually these territories are held for easier ingress into the deeper parts of the city for teams owned by the patron in question. 

There is a boundary wall, with no gates. Roads within the city that lead outwards terminate at these walls as though there should be a gate or portcullis, but there are none. Many patrons have chosen to sink funding into constructing their own proprietary doorways in secret, strategic locations. Spies who figure out where a rival team enters the city can choose to report back, to allow their own teams to stage an ambush, or they can demand payment in return for conveniently forgetting what they have learned. Money rules everyone in the city; it is so hostile to sustained life that purchasing basic supplies from the closest mountainside towns is the only way to get any food at all, so exploring is an expensive business. But it can also be lucrative, if you become one of the few lucky enough to find uncharted regions, or figure out a way to penetrate deeper without simply wandering in endless circles. 

Theran insects are considered ideal employees for expeditions - cheap and easily exploited, those new to the game are often satisfied with being paid in food and trinkets. But as the years go on, more and more of them have begun to learn how to exploit the system for their own ends, and that amassing capital of their own can lead to many advantages. Human employees are always necessary on any serious expedition, because only humans can wield firearms. 

The 'why' of all this is the curious part - why sink huge sums of money into a dangerously competitive expedition when the city appears to be completely empty? It has become more of a vanity project than anything else, with many wealthy patrons convinced that they will one day profit off of the land they capture, selling homes to people on this new frontier. Others believe that the city is evidence for the existence of god, and that they are exploring purgatory, or indeed heaven. Either way it's believed that one day, all their expense will be paid off a thousandfold, and their speculative betting on the city will, essentially, make the line go up.

One day, approximately 20ish years ago, the Houndstooth mountains appeared. They appeared in two parallel dimensions but at the exact same point, destroying anything that had been standing there before. On Earth, this was half of the city of Quern. On Thera, it was a gigantic forest of Tithe trees. There is evidence that the mountains will disappear within another 20 years, just as they did millions of years ago, during the first appearance. At that time, Earth insects were able to cross the mountain range to colonise a world that had nothing but plants (which had likely also travelled there a million years before by the same method). Before those mountains disappear for another million years, the people of Quern and Thera must figure out what lies at the heart of the city at the top of those mountains.

So the story was about a team of expeditioneers, funded/owned by a wealthy patron, who travel into the city to find its heart. The ending of the story was relatively simple - the city was an allegory for obsession and grief, and was shaped like a fractal - if you happen to take the correct turn, a thousand times in a row, you travel 'deeper' into it, into the limbs of the fractal, and the truth is that it is endless. there is no heart of the city, there is no core, there's nothing lying in wait in there but it captures the minds & imaginations of expeditioneers and patrons alike. that's why i drew an ouroboros in that pic, it's fully metaphorical. the city is EMPTY. The characters trapped in this expedition (and their grief-fuelled justifications for expeditioning at all) have to make the conscious choice to stop exploring, to turn their back on the sunk cost fallacy, to stop chasing what might lie around the next corner, and go home. But that's much harder than it sounds.

i found the first draft of empty city (the thera/big insects story) and i totally forgot but the original concept was that the city was being explored by convicts who were basically teleporter-mash-upped with insects like bill from pokemon to increase their survival by giving them extra natural weapons and flight, but also to discourage them from ever coming back to society because now they aren't legally human anymore and had no rights by law (also were horrible to look at for the average person). it's an interesting idea but i prefer what i eventually settled on which was the dimension nexus thing

Casimir Mraz was only one drink in and already obsessed with the wraith-like figure at the bar.

Of course, a vampire's tolerance for alcohol was already staggeringly low, and Caz had been supplementing his pork-blood-and-vodka cocktail with nips from his flask. Which may have explained why he found this stranger — from the out-of-place jewelry glimmering off delicate wrists and earlobes to the eager downing of shot after shot of whisky — so enthralling.

"Ya know, I tend to favor gals who could kick my ass and fellas who I could break in half," Caz said, sidling up to this stranger. "What's so interestin' about you is I'm getting both sorts of feelings from you."

It was an incredibly rude thing to say, but Casimir Mraz was incredibly buzzed by this point. At the very least. And the stranger didn't seem to mind.

"I think you just about nailed down how I'm feeling tonight."

A smirk flickered on a set of oddly-scarred lips, and then -

"You can call me, ah, let's say Lee. They/them," they said.

Caz got the feeling the stranger was not actually called Lee, but he didn't care.

"Casimir," he said. "I'm a he. I mean, a man. I mean -"

He was most certainly not a man, but he wasn't used to these additional formalities. Not that he hadn't come across his fair share of Lee-types over the centuries.

The stranger laughed like a hissing snake and placed a hand on Caz's arm. They had a sharp, impish face suited for laughing. Caz wondered how they had gotten into The Merrow's Toe, with all its magical barriers. They looked only slightly older than he did, appearance-wise, but something felt much more ancient about them.

The stranger wound a flame-red lock of hair around their finger. Caz would have loved to dig his fingers through that mane of theirs, but he could be patient.

"What's your poison?" he instead asked.

Lee placed a finger to their mouth in serious thought.

"Suppose they don't have mead here, do they?" they said. "At least, not the kind I like. What's Fireball taste like?"

"Like too much cinnamon and too much sweetness," Caz said, even though he only knew what Jade had told him about it. Vampire guts tolerated vodka well enough, but not flavored whisky.

"I love sweets," Lee said, and Caz found them even more endearing.

They turned around and gestured to a table behind them. A woman nearly as tall as Caz was leaning her massive frame toward a willowy, freckled woman. They were making moon eyes at each other, and Caz had to admit he found himself jealous of both of them.

"Those are my wives," Lee said. "We have an open marriage, the three of us. If you're alright with that."

Caz nodded and ordered a shot of Fireball.

"Think they might wanna join us later?" he asked.

A burning grin spread rapidly across Lee's face.

"Let's just wait and see, darling."

It didn't take long or even that many drinks for Lee to follow Caz to the bathroom. They were surprisingly small, and Caz found himself lifting them up to press them against the wall.

"Hold on, hold on," Lee said, pulling away from his mouth. "Let's try something. Turn around."

Caz spun on his heel until he was the one pressed against the cool tile. His pretty stranger grinned, their legs wrapped tight around his waist to stay upright.

"Much better," they said. "Now -"

Caz gagged as an invisible bond pressed against his throat, forcing him back against the wall. Another tightened around his arms. Still another got his legs.

Lee dropped to the floor, their eyes pinched and curious as they ran a hand along his jaw.

"What are you?" they asked. "A draugr, maybe? You're most definitely undead, but seem a bit smarter than that."

Caz huffed and growled. Maybe it was a bit too feral, but he did not like getting humiliated on his dates.

The tying up would have been otherwise welcome.

"Unlucky for you, I had such a light dinner," he said. "Because when I get out of here I'm gonna drain you dry, you freaky little witch."

The freaky little witch smirked at him.

"Oh, my Jotunn blood wouldn't taste so good," they said. "Certainly not as appetizing as a tasty, human heart. And I'm much more than a witch, darling."

They paced around the bathroom, running a hand along their chin.

"You could be a prank by my daughter, but she's supposed to be at home with the sitter," they said. "Unless -"

They stared at Caz, eyes suddenly wild with fear. Then they pulled a knife on him.

"You're one of Odin's einherjar, aren't you?" they asked. "Come to spy on me? Well it's not going to end so well for you, is it? And you're certainly not taking my children!"

"I'm not — what the fuck would I do with your kids?" Caz cried. "Fucking Bram Stoker! He ruined vampires' reputations!"

Lee stepped back in confusion. They looked like they were about to ask what the fuck Caz was going off about, when the door burst open.

Jade-fucking-Shaw had arrived to save his ass.

"What the fuck is wrong with you?" were the first words out of her mouth. Caz had never been so glad to hear them.

"Why would you even try to pick a fight with a Norse trickster god?" was the next thing she said. Which left Caz very confused and Lee very smug-looking.

"So you know who I am, witch?" they asked.

"I wasn't picking a fight, I was trying to fuck them," Caz said at the same time.

Jade gripped a hunk of dark hair. She was in a black dress accented by several pieces of spiked jewelry, which only made her more terrifying.

"That's even worse," she said. "And yes, I know who you are. Not only could I sense something very weird was going to happen here tonight, but your wives also told me."

The two women were now standing in the doorway, looking nearly as aggravated as Jade.

"He's not an einjerhi, Loki," said the willowy, freckled one.

"Trust me, I would know, having fought enough of them," said the other woman. She stared admiringly at Jade. "Did you know they also have witches in this time and place?"

"Every time and place has witches, Bodie," not-Lee said with an eye-roll. "You just have to look hard enough."

They turned back to Caz and snapped their fingers. He fell toward the bathroom floor before catching himself.

"Think the night's over," said the muscled woman. Jade nodded in agreement.

"Aw, but Bodie -"

"But Jade!"

"It's nearly closing time, anyway," Jade said, and the four of them all trudged out the doors of the Merrow's Toe.

"Jade," Caz asked, craning his neck. "What the fuck is that?"

Or who the fuck, maybe. A red-haired man in breeches and a waistcoat knelt above them. He was about 40 feet tall. Caz could just make out a petite, dark-haired woman letting loose a steady stream of curses on his shoulder.

"Fucking shit, Logi!" she said. "I think we're late!"

Okay so thank you for this ask because this just streamed out of me like I was possessed and I had so much fun writing it.

Not to add onto this but also: You where making the minor(s) probably feel unsafe if you where actively talking about doing or engaging in sex acts. There are other groups or fuck START YOUR OWN ADULT ONLY GROUP where talking about that stuff is okay Cause guess what asswipe, Queer Minors deserve to feel safe too and an Adult constantly talking about sex shit. Not their sexuality but their sex shit, even queer sex shit can be unsafe. Can feel gross, can be harmful.  And I say this wanting the sex stripe to be added back into the flag.  I say this as a SA survivor I say this as someone who is a sexual adult cause at least I know how to be fuckin respectful around minors.

The reason I censored minors is to show I dislike them. I thought this was common, but apparently people don't get it. this is my last take on the situation because I don't like being squeaked at.
