the fight for accessibility doesn't begin and end with making a space accessible for people with sensory issues. making a space accessible for abled people with AU/HD is not the end-all-be-all of disability rights.
i'm not saying this is a bad thing. i have autism and greatly benefit from stimming being normalized and having dedicated low-sensory spaces.
but how am i supposed to access those benefits when your building has a staircase up to the front door and no ramp access? if i can't even get my proverbial, or literal, foot in the door, what use does you being sensory sensitive have to me, or the wider disabled community?
claiming your space is "accessible" when you don't even have the bare essentials to make your space accessible to a wheelchair user isn't accessibility. it's virtue signaling.
#p#cripple punk#cpunk#disability rights#ableism#footnote: i used <virtue signaling> because its the only term i know that comes close to explaining this phenomena aside from just ableism.#.. which it is also incredibly ableist to claim your space is accessible when its only accessible to abled NDs

This statement in Erick's anecdote goes so hard if you consider that everyone in the suitcase turns into portraits randomly...
#reverse 1999#if vertin believes in the same ideology then it could explain this phenomena happening within it#since a lot of the strange happenings in the suitcase can relate to vertin's state of mind and body a lot

very funny when people on letterboxd describe a movie as "didn't reinvent the wheel" and it's like. lisa frankenstein. cocaine bear. i just don't think that was their intent as movies youknow. i think it was to have a fun time.
#yeahyeah letterboxd but it's more as like. observable phenomena on a site where you get certain Crowds#1. this movie has almost only been reviewed by target audience (high ratings often fun details about making-of)#2. this movie has almost exclusively been reviewed by the non-target audience (lot of reviews wanting movie to do fundamental#thing differently which would dramatically change the core of the film. lot of faux-intellectuals trying to explain why they hate it)#3. this movie is awards-bait (lotta fawning not a lot of depth often)#4. this movie is genuinely is bad version a -- everyone is tearing their eyes out in the comments section#version b -- everyone who watched it did so for One actor and subsequently adores the film (my favourite kind of review)#5. so niche and strange you only get Very Serious Movie Watchers on there (can go either way on fun or not comments-section)#6. yeah what a good movie#and then *i saw the tv glow* which is a fascinating mix of target audience (mostly trans) screaming and non-target audience (mostly cis)#saying they didn't get it

18: do you believe in ghosts and/or aliens?
24: what's one thing you're proud of yourself for?
#although growing up i did hear a lot of ghost stories my parents would tell me. stuff like unplugged fans suddenly turning on and#other phenomena they cant explain!! i think my dads family has smth where they light a candle and if it boils when someone passes thru#the doorway it means theyre a demon.. theyre from the philippines so superstition and belief in the paranormal is very strong#as for running on all fours i couldprobably still do it now but im too embarassed to try lol#but im very proud of how fast i could run. unsurprisingly i had a wolf girl phase when this happened so that explains a lot#ask#ask game#answered#doodles#yapping

You want more character asks?? WELL IF YOU INSIST
Considering where the story is going to go: how much do the ROs believe in the supernatural?
they all do! the story itself is explicitly a fantasy, so the supernatural exists alongside the real world. things like fantastical creatures and demonic forces are a reality (the great calamity literally received its name because the dead rose from their graves HAHAHA)
#anon#ro: jinwol#ro: yul#ro: ???#ro: iseul#i feel like it's difficult to explain concisely#jasfjsjd but it's part of the polythesitic worship#each “unexplainable” phenomena has power behind it#yin and yang are a fundamental aspect of the world#and exist in tangible form#which gives rise to all manners of supernatural#less of a belief and more of a reality?#afhssdjj if that makes sense

only remembering the base plot and anti feysand evidence of acomaf and acowar, and replacing everything else with headcanons is sooooo funny cuz i’ll get harshly reminded that feyre really was Like That (derogatory) and for a split second, i’m like pardon? and then reality punches me
#cuz bbg wdym you saved rhys from having to explain and apologize to tarquin🧍🏾♀️#stop this immediately#your feyre and my feyre are two separate entities that may on occasion possess the same body and during ultra rare phenomena the same spirit#the last time the planets aligned was acotar#acotar

okay you know what? I think it's time for me to take advantage of the release of the Percy Jackson series to talk a little about the relationship between the Greek and Roman gods, because I have a feeling that we're going to have a new generation of people who are convinced that the Romans "stole" the gods of the Greeks and... um, I feel the need to talk and analyze this thing with you. Because the matter is much more complicated than you think
Like SERIOUSLY, the pjo fandom and Greco-Roman mythology enthusiasts in general need this chat.
First of all it is important to understand how the Italic populations came into contact with Greek culture, and who the first Romans were.
Southern Italy (Sicily, Calabria, Campania and Puglia) was colonized by the Greeks since the 8th century BC.
Like any colonization, the local population had to adapt to the culture, religion and language of the colonizer (in Italy there are still two dialects coming from ancient Greek. Griko in Puglia, and Grecanico in Calabria). Every part of the territory considered Magna Graecia (Megàle Hellàs) presents archaeological finds relating to the Greek colonies, and with them also temples dedicated to the gods. (So much so that in Sicily, at the beginning of spring the Antesphorie (or antephorie) were celebrated in honor of Demeter and Persephone, for example).
The entire Etruscan pantheon was strongly influenced by the Greek one. The indigenous deities were joined by the Hellenic ones, creating a new religion.
But still: who were the Romans? The legend of the foundation of Rome refers to Romulus and Remus, but from an archaeological point of view the Romans were probably the result of a mixture of Latin, Sabine (plus Samnites and Sabelli*) and Etruscan peoples. The latter influenced the initial Roman Pantheon the most. Just think of the similarities between the Etruscan goddess Menrva/Menerva and the Roman goddess Minerva.
The same applies to Maris and Mars, who among other things share holidays in March (a month dedicated to them moreover).
Unfortunately there is not much information on the Sabine and Latin ethnic group, but it is known for certain that Etruscans had contact with Magna Graecia, and the Greeks in general, so their culture was never unknown to the Romans.
So what does this tell us? That the Italic populations knew the Greek Pantheon, because they had been colonized and/or influenced by the Greeks. The first Romans can't exactly steal something that's already part of their culture.
*Samnites, Sabelli and Sabines were part of the same ethnic group, and although all three groups can generally be called "Sabines", I preferred to specify. At the same time it is not known how involved the Picenes and Irpinians were initially with the birth of Rome, so I have not mentioned them.
#it was a very quick and not very in-depth post#but it's late and I just needed to vent about this#if you want to make a joke about the Romans stealing religion from the Greeks that's completely ok#I do it too!!#but I think it is important to understand what really happened in the early period of Roman history#the Romans didn't wake up one morning thinking “you know what I should really do? steal a random religion”#the historical context is much more complex than what one might commonly think#and I understand that in schools outside italy there is no interest in explaining the phenomena that led to the birth of the Roman religion#but in doing so in my opinion it creates a great confusion that could be avoided#did the Romans assimilate numerous religions throughout their history? absolutely#just look at what happened with the Egyptian and Mithras#it wasn't a question of cultural appropriation but more of “I pray to all the gods that exist so no one can get angry with me”#greek myth#greek mythology#roman myth#roman mythology#roman history#greek history#pjo#pjo series#please learn about the Etruscan gods because they are much cooler than the Greek and Roman versions

I realized I have been having more of the variety of stress dream where in the dream I have an Extreme Autistic Meltdown. Like a very very bad meltdown where I am just shrieking and hurting myself and throwing things and I feel like I am literally about to die and then I wake up shaking with a headache and basically I think masking and not having my needs met and feeling alienated constantly in my daily life is starting to have some Effects. hahaha.
#I have very rarely had a Loud Outward meltdown irl but let me be clear this has been very bad for me lol#I definitely have it isn’t like the meltdowns themselves are a controllable phenomena#It’s more like. I have shoved at least half of it inside and it kind of feels like I am swallowing lead#So I mostly just cry and bite myself a lot or whatever#Lighter intensity stuff tends to mostly feature me being in turns extremely snappy and volatile and completely nonverbal which is super cool#and does not make people around you dislike you or anything especially when you can’t explain it at the time and you’re trying really hard#not to be an asshole but you literally can’t control the cadence and tone of your voice anymore or you will actually start screaming and#even if you have the world’s tightest leash on what you do say and you aren’t vitriolic people will still get mad and if you’re around the#wrong kind it’s like they start actively trying ro provoke or hurt you#Anyways

Do you like the fantasy genre? I asked cause your profile picture
oh yeah, for sure. i tend to lean a little scifi fantasy (my icon is actually a warframe oc) cuz i’m a sucker for weird and crazy technology and have always since i was little had a passion for imagining alien worlds and ecosystems…. and i like guns and such from an artistic standpoint crazy scifi weapons are a lot of fun to design cuz you don’t need to be a skilled magic user to shoot someone with laser beams anyone can pick up a blaster and go ham…. but i enjoy fantasy settings immensely also
#i tend towards scifi bcs i like the idea of weird shit being explained away as advanced technology or alien phenomena yet to be studied#rather than hand waving it with ‘magic lol’#altho there’s really not much difference. i take a very biology-biased approach to my worldbuillding i can’t help it i work in the field#show me a beast or creature and i’m already thinking about what its diet consists of and what role it plays in its ecosystem#and most importantly: is it edible. does it taste good. what would you cook with it#for the record i haven’t read dungeon meshi. yet. it’s on my list but it’s not the root of my#passion for seeing a weird fantasy animal and wondering how to eat it. i jsut like watching people#prep fish and other such things

not to sound anti-science or anything but i feel like a big reason for general human suffering right now is because we know too many of the secrets of this world
#x#like an ant doesnt give af abt what lays beneath the earth's crust they r just like 'lol frolicking playing etc' yknow#idk i was just thinking the other day abt 'whats the point of being spiritual when natural phenomena is explainable'#also smth smth atheists and westerners with the obsession with science and logic#maybe its just me but i think that some sort of spirituality#even non religious is essential to living a decent life#like to keep it real everything we've discovered is just a testament to humanity's capability and one of our greatest achievements#thinking abt this bc of a convo i had w my therapist abt carl jung's theories and how i connect w them despite knowing they arent exactly..#idk... widely accepted as Current... yknow what i mean#i just think of the idea that if we one day manage to explain all natural phenomena except for a few that are just out of our reach#(i.e. the hard problem of consciousness)#how are future humans gonna react to that yknow... maybe the progression of science has led to so many of us having anxiety#anxiety = fear of uncertainty so the constant search of answers or certainty is.......#augh. anyway. food for thought
