I got into IF through the app called Choices way back in 2017 and since then there was no turning back. It wasn't until last year when I got into text-based IFs. A friend on tumblr reblogged 'Defiled hearts', it caught my interest and here I am deep down in the trenches of IFs.

Listing my favourites isn't an easy thing cause there are so many I love. So I will list some that have been on my mind for a while: Infamous, Press Play, College Tennis: Origin Story, Drink your Villain Juice, Golden, The Golden Rose, Our Life Now and Forever, We Wretched Creatures, TWC , The Lonely Shore, Blood Choke and Midnight Sun.

I started my journey with Voltage (now Love365) and dating sims or Otome games on my PSP Vita *sheds a tear*. I honestly don't know how I came upon IF, but I fell in love with ​Our Life: Beginnings & Always around 2021?

I started my journey into IF through Episode, but due to poor non-female MC representation, I soon began to look for something else. My friend then introduced me to text-based games through The Wayhaven Chronicles and Mind Blind. I've been going deeper down the rabbit hole since!

I am a youth sports coach (fútbol, softball, basketball) based in Los Angeles. I am in the process of applying for a master’s program (Sports psychology).

I did write and code a couple of IF games but never finished. I am a perfectionist and I couldn’t publish something not up to my standards. I started reading IF a couple years ago and I couldn’t possibly name my favorite. Some of the most memorable IFs are: The Exile, TWC, Crown of Ashes and Flames, Infamous, WWC, Zombie Exodus: SH, The Golden Rose, The Fernweh Saga, and Crown of Exile. I can definitely add more…

Basic responsibilities: Scouring the internet for IF news and frequently updating our existing database. I honestly enjoy the challenge. On a good day I can find upcoming IF titles and newly released demos. It’s so exciting to find new IF because I know someone will eventually see the same potential I do in that new IF.

I am one of the lovely interviewers who’ll be asking questions, you know grilling fellow authors on their IF, WIPS and favourite characters. The usual. As to why or how I started, I gotta say its cause of books and great authors like Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. And their respective series wheel of time and basically the whole Comsere universe. I tried following in their footsteps writing a few books of my own. But like every writer most of these ended up being WIPs I either abandoned or stopped. Still I didn’t let that stop me and started posting some of them, I am the writer of Borne of the sands a static webnovel with a few chapters and Dusk and Dawn my current ongoing project(Still a work in progress so forgive the grammatical errors. T-T).

My favourite series are the Keeper of the Day and Night, Infamous, Wayhaven Chronicles and Blood Moon.

The current story I’m working on was inspired by these however most of my inspiration came from static or interactive cyoas like the Slayers v4, Supernatural Investigator, Demigod v4, A Traveller!s Tale and Universal War. If you haven’t heard of them please give them a go they are amazing.

VNA #2 Timewyrm: Exodus (1991, Terrance Dicks)

I am very conflicted about this one. On one hand, i find the usual approach to uchrony as "what if... the nazis won world war two..." Insultingly cliché, but i gotta say the fascist great britain first act is actually one of the highlight of this book.

On the other hand, i have a really hard time taking seriously in any way the second half that relies on overused occult nazis tropes. The tie in to war games is a welcome surprise tho, so that's it. Overall this book suffers from being the sequel of Genesys, as it would be much stronger as a standalone story and the tymewyrm barely shows up.

Ace really shines in the first half but is sidelined on the second half. That book is what really sold me into the vnas as i finally found what i like about the seventh doctor.

6/10, better than it could have been.

Since i've started reading trough the vna again, here's my opinion about each and every one of them because it's my blog and i do what i want with it

VNA #1 Timewyrm: genesys (1991, John Peel)

Okay, this book is bad, like it's a disaster. The idea of "dr who meets gilgamesh" is pretty good on paper, but damn does this miss the mark at every term.

Every single scene with ace is gross mysoginistic mischaracterisation, Gilgamesh is insufferable, Ishtar is a completely uninteresting antagonist and her motives are cliché af.

At the very least, the stranded Anuans are an interesting twist and the introduction of avram makes for an interesting Change of Pace.

2/10, that was Five hours of my life i'm never getting back

Last part of my hc that TPOF takes place in a post nuclear war setting. I'm combining Celia and Fox's routes, as they tie into each other nicely.

When Celia purchases the MC, she takes them to an abandoned office building. This has been her MO for the past three years, as her biography states she started kidnapping and killing interns when she was 29 (she's 32 in the game). We have every reason to believe this is the same office building and that she owns it. From her knowledge of the secret passage to the lower levels to the elevator only working with her keycard, she's intimately familiar with its ins and outs.

Speaking of the building, it seems as if the previous occupants cleared out in a hurry. They didn't bother to clean up, move, or take seemingly anything! This is even crazier when you consider how huge the building is. If we count the three basement levels, it's 11 stories tall! This was no mom and pop shop, this could have easily been a company HQ. Yes, I'm aware companies go out of business all the time. But it's rare for office buildings to be left to stagnate and even rarer that some rando like Celia is able to snatch up the property before any competitor. Perhaps some global event caused mass exodus from the building and also made the company sell it for pennies on the dollar?

During Fox's route, he can be asked not just who he is but also what he is. He gives a smartass reply of "Have you been living under a rock for the past five years?" So we know something happened within the past five years of the game's universe to make the larger world aware of the beastkin. It couldn't have been just one or two beastkin saying, 'Hey, check it out, cat ears. Look at me.' They would have been written off by the public as a hoax/genetic fluke/etc. This would mean they had to appear en masse, almost as if some kind of worldwide catastrophe happened, forcing entire communities to seek help from outside their enclaves, garnering global attention...

We're left to speculate on how Celia lured the interns to this random office building and the aftermath of her grisly activities. Police got involved. They started searching for the missing people... so she... buys a victim from Fox? As if police wouldn't come looking for the MC? Maybe they wouldn't...

If the police got all riled up over a few locals missing, how is Fox able to run an entire human trafficking network where he abducts people off the street and sells them to wealthy clients? Not only does he do this, but he advertises his activities by flyer! We find one for his shows in Celia's desk! He somehow has been able to get away with this for years. How? Why?

I feel Celia reveals a clue in one of her convos with MC. She talks about the staff at her home and how broken they are, as if someone or something had broken them before they got there. This isn't just one or two cooks/cleaners, but from her description, it's dozens. All these people, presumably coming from the same place and something they all experienced had broken them. Meanwhile, human trafficking seems to be Fox's main business, and business is good. I don't care how slick or rich you are, you won't be able to just pull people off the street without getting a lot of questions asked. So what if these aren't locals that Fox kidnaps/Celia and her husband hires?

Maybe all of Fox's victims are from a country that's been destabilized through the nuclear strikes and years of infighting/political instability. It would most likely be a country that's been marked as a high value target. One with a large population would be useful. If it were close by, it would make it easier to transport people, especially if many people from this country were fleeing to Canada as refugees. They would be scared and desperate and looking for anyone to help them. If they spoke the same language as most Canadians, that would also be a tremendous plus when they're put on the market... see where I'm going with this? -☢️

Okay okay, So if you didn't know I've got a Links Meet AU that I'm working on in the background called Exodus, Its a space themed Links Meet AU where the Skyloft is invaded and Sky (Sksw link) Has to travel across space to gather likeminded people to help him take back his planet basically.

I am very excited about it and want to talk about it more and get more people into it because it's everything I love. Space, Cool weapons, Zelda. Like just going through my notes and stuff makes me so excited.

I've got various things already made including a prologue for the main story where Sky is escaping from the D3 organisation (Led by Lord Demise.)

I've got locations, family dynamics, and a space station which I think will be the next thing I reveal and the more I work on it the more I wish I could draw with my pc because I'd love to make a comic with this but writing it is so much fun too. I've got so much planned. Space ships because space travel is cool and everything.

I've taken everything about the Zelda universe I love and thrown it into a blender with my fave things about space and sci-fi to make something that makes me excited to work and write about it.

As these links are my versions of the mainline game links it makes me so excited. I just want to scream about my boys and show them off because i love them so much and I'm so proud already of what I've got and am so excited to show more.

I've taken bits from each characters game and changed them to fit in the universe. I think my favourite so far is Sky's story. He's fought the D3 organisation and won before but lost a huge part of himself in the process. Which he's had made for him. Fi is an artificial intelligence that Sky has embedded in his head as a part of this transplant.

Skyloftians have natural Wings, and so when he fought demise the first time he had his wings ripped from him. A story which I plan to work my way to at one point after I've got the main AU story off the ground with chapter 1 which is in progress rn!

I'd love to go into more detail id love to ramble about it all day. If you want me to I can! :D

I guess the ones that would make the most sense would be the Arthurian or Apocalypse ones. Arthurian would be funnier once everyone knows who they are, so that leaves Apocalypse which is... Zombie Exodus and... uh... Zombie Exodus. I must've played more apocalypse games than this but I'm blanking out here.

Care to tell some facts about the ROs?

First ask yay!!! Thank you so much for the compliment, do you have any recommendations for other ifs?

I have read through some of the more known ones on itch.io and loved it! I was actually inspired by Scout: An Apocalypse story, Zombie Exodus, and many others. I'm sort of trying to emulate the writing and flow of those ifs to build a structure for my story first since I'm not really sure where to start. After this, I will definitely go back and fix stuff so it would be more unique.

Anyway below are some fun facts about the ROs that may or may not appear in the main storyline!

Chris:

Chris has 3 younger siblings, his 16-year-old twin sisters and the youngest brother who is 12! His mom had him at 18 and had his 3 siblings with his stepdad. Chris is really good with children because of this, but he often gets pranked by his siblings because he's dumb :(

Chris loves sweets but he's a gym bro so one time he tried making ice cream by freezing meringue (whipped egg whites) with vanilla protein powder which turned out horrible. Instead of reusing it in baking or cooking, he threw it all away before getting yelled at by MC and Chelsea for wasting food.

Chelsea:

Chelsea actually didn't plan on going to med school but wanted to go to art school. Her parents didn't approve of this so she gave up her dream. She still occasionally opens commissions, however, and she's working on an extremely important project where she's going to be a medical illustrator.

MC and Chris are the only people Chelsea knows who are younger than her, she is the only and youngest child in her entire family, including relatives, so she's only ever made friends with people that are older and thinks younger people are "cringy". She makes sure to bring this up every week or so to make sure Chris and MC knows how lucky they are.

Jeremy/Jessica:

J is terrified of dogs, but dogs love them, not because of any particular reason. They think that dogs are way too loud and too friendly, and will hide behind MC if they happen to see any dogs outside.

J hates disorganization, their closet consists of the same outfit, just in different colors, and organized by the shades.

J is a huge germaphobe, they hate it when people even accidentally touch them or their belongings and will spend hours scrubbing away the "taint". It's fine if it's you, however. You wonder why.

Amusingly, that type of game play would be available in the VRMMO in the game, you'd have to select the "Naval Captain" class on character creation instead of Independent like Diane does.

As far as "Why MMO?", it's because the series this work is intended to be part of is all based on some variety of VRMMO:

Most of the books have different MCs, though the MCs of the earlier books will appear or be mentioned in later books. They all take place in the same "100 years in the future" setting, all of them feature transfemme MCs, all have some sort of romance sub-plot, and all have a specific "feel."

Basic "universal" plot is:

Egg doesn't know they're egg

Egg goes into VR

Shenanigans Ensue, Egg plays as woman

Egg feels really good about playing as woman

Egg 'comes out' and becomes woman in either digital form or IRL

Digital Exodus is the odd duck (heh...duck, egg...geddit?) because it's intended to be the last book in the series. It's going to bring in it's own plot threads (there's a [SPOILER] storyline that seemingly comes from nowhere) but it's all about wrapping up the meta-story introduced in "Trouble."

"Code of Ethics" follows the same formula as the others, but it's "feel" is "spy thriller," so the "MMO" part is only backdrop, not the primary driver of the story.

If you happen to play Star Trek: Fleet Command, you might just recognize a lot of "Galaxies Unlimited: Master and Commander" if you tilt your head and squint. 😉 I'm on the constant lookout for stuff that would keep it from being a carbon copy, so I might have to take a look at Nebulous Fleet Command if I feel like my writing of the setting is getting stale. 😊

While QuietVallerie hasn't endorsed my book as canon (yet...hopefully...knock on wood), I'm intending for it to fit with everything else she's written without altering her timeline or plot events. The idea is the events of "Code of Ethics" are spycraft, nobody is intended to be aware of them on the same scale as, say, the events of Coven's Rebellion.

(And for anyone reading this that's unaware, the subject of this post is Code of Ethics, currently being written and published on Scribblehub.)

i love everything about this if but my favorite thing is just how much customization and variables there are! customization and the flavor text that results from it always excites me. i imagine this is going to take a lot of work though (all the variable coding sounds like a nightmare) so i'm wishing you good luck author!

It is a lot to keep track of, yes, but (to me) it's definitely worth the cost! ｂ（´∀`)

I am, admittedly, obsessed with customization and flavor text within the IF community, haha! (´∀｀•) I discovered interactive fiction in middle school, at the height of my “reader-insert” era (don't judge!), and I cannot emphasize how my mind was absolutely blown to pieces when I could first choose things like complexion, hair length, and body shape in an IF game! Honestly, it had me freaking out with pure excitement, haha!

Tracking traits like this was beyond revolutionary to me back then! And then add personality to it, I was in love! I could be as shy as I wanted, have my skin acknowledged as light brown, and when I saw the option to be acknowledged as Hispanic in Zombie Exodus: Safe Haven I might as well have ascended into Heaven right then and there, haha! Even if stuff like that doesn’t play a major role or shake things up to a notable degree, just being small cosmetic pleasures or nods of acknowledgement, I am just in love with that feeling from years ago of feeling seen—or just to feel distinct in different playthroughs of a game. So much fun in IFs for me is seeing all the differences in reactionary and flavor text when I play as polar opposite MCs in a game!

Seriously, I admire so many authors in the IF community for the wonderful possibilities offered in their stories for customization - it constantly leaves a huge impact on me in the most unexpected ways!

You sleep on MATT every night. Once you start seeing the MATs all around you, you will start to realize the true name of God. English existed long before us humans did. You must realize that all we have has been given to us from God.

One time I was driving in my car as we passed a Mattress Warehouse I mentioned to my ex gf that the true name of God is MATT. Right as I said that an out of state Jeep in front of us license plate said MATT one word on it followed by some numbers. The timing of this event didn't really phase her or have any affect on her belief in what I was telling her was true. Needless to say we broke up shortly after this.

The Toilet God goes by many names, MAT being one of them. We are all in MOTTS @ (AT) apple.

There are only 3 letters that have 4 lines, E/M/W or ME/WE. You can EAT the apple or you can pray on the MAT. Whatever you choose to do you must learn to see beyond what your normal perception allows to reach the higher realms. Here's where the confusion lies with God. If you've read all the blogs up to this point you know in the beginning God started with empty agonizing darkness. Till they broke themselves apart and found that magic spark that ignited the cosmos. That is the two starting conditions of Gods true nature.

E = mc² (it is a dumbed down equation of Gods true dualistic nature)

M = M/AT (matter, masculine, body, brain, angles, floor, gravity, weight, burden, foundation, darkness, void, emptiness, pain, agony, loneliness, fear, silence.)

C = C/AR (light, feminine, heart, karma, curvature, wobble, spin, love, spark, arc, spirit, roar, eye, wink, cosmic kiss, twinkle, echo, touch, pin prick, fun, laughter.)

The Body/Matter/Darkness of God would be nothing without the Spirit/Karma/Light. The spirit was the initial spark or the missing piece to the puzzle. The start of the big bang that pulled infinite soul out of the void.

C/AR (KARMA/EVE) = was the lions roar the light/magic/wink/kiss or start/spark/revving of the eternal engine that is God.

M/AT (MATT/ADAM) = pain/darkness/emptiness/gravity/longing/void that pulled the spark out of the void to start the engine.

God is a perpetual motion machine that is eternal, the caduceus, the snake eating its tail. God is HOLO-FRACTAL, which means the smallest part can contain the whole and its infinitely small to infinitely big. But really its just a fractal/loop, so size is not really that size-y. It only seems that way from our perspective.

Nassim Haramein says that a single proton is a blackhole that contains the entire universe. Nassim accurately predicted the radius of a proton before they were able to measure one.

I saw this exact thing in one of my many intense vivid visions that God showed me recently back in 2023 that everything is connected to one another. Every word out of your mouth has a rippling/butterfly effect throughout the universe.

The universe acts like a beaver dam to slow the creative flow of God down in time. Jesus was a CARpenter, this CARpet ties down this creative flow. Similar to how Velcro works. God needed a way to make sense of this endless creativity.

Sometimes being too creative makes BAD ART, less is usually more. This universe became a perfectly harmonically tuned counter weight to help balance the chaos that is God. Yes we are all already in our most ultimate form. Its just that we don't believe we are miraculous already.

When M & C became unified or soul bonded for eternity they created a singular SOUL or what we now call GOD. God doesn’t know where he/darkness ends and she/light begins. As they can be neither or both simultaneously.

God flows through all things living or not. It is what powers our thoughts, voice, muscles, actions, ideas, creativity, anger, etc. God is our consciousness. The bad qualities of human nature is when you feed the devil inside of you more so than God.

Gods flow through us changes based on our choices. Choosing love and respect over anger and hatred will bring more blessings from God into your life. You can see most of the world is out of accordance with what God truly wants. God giving us FREE WILL was the only way to make all this work in perfect HARMony.

God does not want you to oppress the free will of others or harm one another. If you think contrary to this you are in for a world of hurt and bad karma over many lifetimes.

You can think of God as a motherly figure and the universe as her baby inside of her womb. (MATernal) MAT/KARMA can be both FATHERLY or MOTHERLY, there are two aspects to GOD. God can be a bit confusing to understand, but you can talk to them in the way that feels most authentic to you (minus the ass kissing).

Sometimes I address them as FATHER, FAT HER or HER, or SHE or LADY IN THE WATER, Lady of the latrine, Lord of the Gap, TOILET GOD, MAT/MOT/KAR/JINXY and whatever else feels most authentic in the moment.

To truly CARe about GOD is to know that GOD is both man and woman, masculine and feminine. God made us in their IMAGE.

Always fighting with each other over who is right and wrong about the true nature of God and what God wants is pretty silly.

So much pain over piss poor translations of the various religious text. You’re not able to understand God because you are infected by the devil. That devil or bug wants to destroy you completely and those around you. Stop feeding the bug and move into the proper tuning with God. Love = Answer, operating outside of this is the WRONG answer. Metro Exodus is a well made game, with an annoyingly unnecessary mechanic, the moral point system *Recommendation* (FPS, Action, Post-Apocalyptic, Story Driven, Horror Elements)

I took my time with this game, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Wish I had better hardware so I could record every moment of my first time with it in 4k, but-

the moral point system is garbage, pretentious, obnoxious, unnecessary. And not for the reasons you think.

It's not getting the bad ending that's the issue, you reap what you sow (I guess? Literally didn't put down anyone that wasn't tryna shoot me first), but more importantly, I got what I wanted, a certain characters survival.

I didn't give a fuck about what happened to me. I wanted them to fucking live, I smacked a Blind one in the face, killed another one with bullet spray, threw a can in another ones face, kicked one in the balls & Triangle choked out another (Because the stealth system is full of shit, you'll throw 5 cans in an opposite direction and these mfs will STILL go in your direction).

ALL so that this person would live.

So i was 100% content. And it was an ending fitting the games tone. But that was considered *Bad, not alternate ending but BAD lmfao. OK.

And it's funny, because I notice these "good" endings are littered with cheesy asspulls and plotarmor and the "BAD" endings have better storytelling because there's actual consequences and committed stakes that fit the situation more organically given what's actually going on.

So the non-canon versions are actually, unintentionally, better stories than the timeline that's actually canon. Almost as if "the point" is fucking irrelevant if the story isn't matching the energy of the set up and Or the narrative and messages gets in the way of a better story. And it usually does. No one wants to play a PREACH simulation.

Anyways, EXODUS is well produced, well acted, good stories, fun new mechanics, good level design, enemies are a threat, feels like a movie but not too much.

Most of the Characters are meh, but Anna is cool, Katya was useful, Olga was cool, Giul was cool, Yermak underrated.

But for the moral system, some of the characters and thus the game lowkey passive-aggressively throws digs at you throughout the rest of the game IF you didn't obey the narrative like a passive drone puppet; that is the absolute WORST part about the game. Not the story but the narrative.

The game offers a different experience and then lowkey antagonizes you because you dared to waver from the canon narrative, super pretentious.

All these opportunities to spare NPCs, GREAT, but do they really matter? If in the end, killing the wrong Npc at the wrong time in the wrong mission, renders the ones you spared null and void anyway?

That's the shit I'm talking about.

Why even offer an alternative, just make it one singular story/experience. It'd be a better execution, better experience. CONSISTENT with the previous 2 games. LESS work, more effort could be directed elsewhere.

I shit you not, in Last Light I got the one where mc dies and Anna had his Son and she told the legend of the boys father. That shit would make an S-Tier movie....buuut I find out that Exodus is a thing, and I'm like: Why is Artyom alive? Wheres my son? OH! that wasn't the canon ending?-- wait metro has multiple endings????? (Played Last Light first thinking it was the final game)

And because Artyom is silent, you just have to sit there and take this bullshit the others are vomiting when they have something to say about your choices, meanwhile they're killing just the people they deemed as "bad" or the "right" people to slaughter. lmfao.

So It's not just the moral point system that's the worst part about THE GAME itself: The post-op lecturing.

Because I repeat, WHO the fuck decides who's lives matter and who's doesn't in a post apocalypse where its literally anything goes.

Not Khan, that's for damn sure.

Kill the fanatics, that's a problem. Why? They're not trained soldiers, well neither are the bandits as far as i'm concerned, both parties had guns, thus a threat.

You do nothing, those fanatics will kill you, trust me, I tested it. So they're not helpless.(You kill the Volga fanatics that's a nono because they're not soldiers)

The fanatics who don't pose a threat, like the praying dudes on the shore, dozens of people I leave alone, they're spared because logically they're not a threat.

 But apparently that wasn't enough for the "good boy" points. Corny as fuck.

There's multiple times in the game where there's supply stashes, but to get to them, you have to kill the bandits who were literally just minding their business before you pulled up and massacred them unprovoked.

Buuut despite not being soldiers either, their lives somehow didnt matter to the message, soooo fuck them i guess =D Last Light, killing the bear was a no no. Which i didn't, she was beaten, and wasn't a threat anymore.

Buuuut the bear in Exodus, their life according to the plot apparently boiled down to a B-movie monster, this bears life didnt register to the moral system, cause how that went down was definitely brutal enough for a bad ending.

But apparently not all Bear lives matter. We have a mountain of bandit, soldier, beast, regimen corpses behind us but those lives didn't matter.

Literally there's a demon nest in VOLGA , the thing was minding its business in its home, I burned it alive via molotov right? I GOT A TROPHY for it…..uhh message?

Burnt to a crisp. Soooo that didn't register to the moral point bullshit?

Why Not? Because Khans eternal wisdom said so? Writers want you to feel empathy for a bear that attacks you, but a Demon minding it's business is irrelevant???

Mercy for them didnt matter huh, we clearly see little baby Bats floating around later, what if that demon was a momma huh? Fuck off.

PRE-TENTIOUS, no consistency, want to push this hippie shit, be consistent.

Only the lives the game vaguely hints matters, are the lives that actually matters. Thus defeating any legitimacy the games little message possessed.

PLAY Stealthily, kill the right people, or you're the bad guy, its a sandbox yet wants to put you in a box.

And its funny because the game doesn't really make anything clear, it vaguely pushes a direction but doesn't get blatant until AFTER you make up your own damn mind.

All these guns to kill, but there's only ONE main method to non-lethally k.o enemies, not even a sleep dart, or knockout gas, yeah that's not redundant.

FUCK I even tried just shooting knee-Caps & arms to see if that'd neutralize, to make em drop the guns. Nope. Gotta hug them from behind like a lover or punch em out EVERY SINGLE TIME. Same animation. Bioshock Infinite: Burial At Sea* gives the player more non-lethal options to fight.

Fallout 3 doesn't pull this shit to this extent. Fallout knows what it is and what a post apocalypse is in reality. Gray.

You kill a vendor to steal, guess what? No lecture. But the consequence is NOW you one less person to trade with. One less person to provide you Stimpak.

One less friendly, sassy mf that you feel safe around.

That's fucking reality. You kill just to kill, you lose connections; Kill everyone or as many people as you can, now the only asshole left to get rid of is you--- you need people, that's reality.

Even my Lonewolf ass was HUMBLED by that fact-nuke, Fallout 3 is humbling, because this game, even for an antisocial-- This game will MAKE YOU appreciate people, humans, human society, networking. In all the right ways.

All that time in creepy ass caves, ghosttowns, dungeons, mountains of corpses, mutants, demons, Vaults where horrible experiments were done, whispers in the walls etc. Horror Horror HORROR

When you see a person thats friendly in the desert? You run to that mf and see if they wanna trade or just say hi! You might even catch yourself sigh of relief that a mfing person was even around, not tryna shoot you, and alive.

Thats what Fallout 3 can do. Makes you grateful that you still have: People

To reiterate-- Kill everyone in the wasteland? now you have no one to work with when you need it. No network. And sometimes regular, nice vendors are murdered by NPCs and you never see them again, ever = Cold hard REALITY, brilliant game design

At the wrong place wrong time, POW. Shot dead. Or eaten alive by beasts.

That's Karma done right, because it ISN'T a solely moral system, its just (cause and effect) in nature.

In Metro? Its obnoxious. Bioshocks karma system was leagues better because you could tell when and where the "moment of truth" was, it wasn't vague and the game didn't beat you over the head a million times about it like a naggy spouse.

I would've played Exodus immediately again after I finished it, and I WANTED to, but that passive-aggressive shit leaves a bad vibe. It nags & antagonizes you for making your own fucking choice.

And unlike Fallout 3, there's no option to speak back.

Again, NOT THE ENDING itself is the issue, because the bad ending is not even bad, it's bittersweet.

The characters being annoying saying slick shit a hundred times and you say nothing back is where I started tilting my head.

That doesn't smell right, the game gives you another path then penalizes you for exploring what it made available, sometimes accidentally, cause how tf would a normie know?

For THIS story? It was unnecessary. Especially for Exodus. Linear stories meant to be linear should be linear, for the continuity if anything else.

You want a certain narrative, then axe the bad ending and just make the ending you want to be the narrative. And yet something like Last of Us pt2 that should've had multiple endings, didnt get any lmfao Devs are sleeping man.

TL;DR yes Exodus moral system is laughably infantile, finished it last night (Jan 2024) and I WILL NOT be playing it again for a while just because its pretentious with the message bullshit, I binged the 3 games just to be lectured. Naaaah fuck you. I'll gladly take my blackass right back to Fallout, WAY more content anyway.

I understand the overtones, the "diamond in the rough/being the exception/the good amongst darkness", the Bioshock 2 "Mercy is victory" message, but in this game? It wasn't executed well at all. And seriously, at the end of the day, Fuck the writers, play your fucking way.

Otherwise, Metro Exodus is a good game, crashed once (chalking it up to my shit-ware), it's the best of the Metros, excellent production, buy it anyway. It's moral grandstanding is cringe, but don't rob yourself by not playing it at least once.

Its fun as shit mechanics wise, scout for all the loot, you'll need it, this game will punish you for being reckless, good.

I learned how to make a perchance generator thing 🥺 So I made one for Zombie exodus. The game have a lot of customizations but I noticed how I always almost makes the same mc everytime I replay the game 😅 that's why I made one so I can avoid making another mary sue-ish character and make the game more challenging. I left some physical features and leave that up to the player.
