I was so giddy thinking about the pope's death that for a moment I forgot liberals existed and were crying "the most progressive pope" and fearing for a "reactionary" pope

Absolutely Insane Things That Happened With Skip Haverty
Was nearly not included in the novelisation of Night of the Doctor because Moffat did not think she was a real companion. It took Paul McGann himself mentioning her on set to make Moffat realise she should be added to the list of companions.
A writer was revealed to be an avid reader of a Skip Haverty fanfiction site after he referenced details from a fanfic in an audio, seemingly forgetting their source. The story referenced was one in which Skip Haverty had sex with the TARDIS.
An audio called The Complete Works of Skip Haverty was mistaken for being a compilation of every major Skip Haverty audio so far by a Big Finish employee, who massively increased its price, leading to so much pirating that Big Finish eventually released it for free.
The Big Finish Twitter account announced a new Skip and Eight series but forgot to search up the name of Skip's VA, resulting in them referencing a new series by 'Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor and [Skip VA name] as Skip Haverty.'
Is the reason the TARDIS wiki lists Marie Antoinette as a 'non-heterosexual individual'. Skip was also removed from said wiki more than once.
The foley sound for a very visceral torture scene in one audio, Aid and Abattoirs, was revealed to be genuine.
Had a Twilight crossover. I'm not joking.
The writer of Skip's death story posted in response to a question about what song best represented Skip and her relationship with Eight that 'Girl On Fire' would be best.
Had a Swaverty/SkipBella shipper who eventually ended up writing for Big Finish in 2023, and had the Doctor, while mentioning having met vampires before, reference 'sparkly teenagers with on-the-nose surnames'.
Went through a year-long period in which her audios were removed and reinstated on the Big Finish website so often that a fan created their own script for a website to show if they were available or not.
In one audio, the editors accidentally used the wrong take, resulting in the line, "But Doctor, if we don't stop- OW, SHIT! What the fuck, Helen? Jesus!" being left in till Big Finish noticed their mistake. This version of the audio was later put on Spotify by accident.

I love how much Belinda being an emergency nurse impacts everything. Stay awake for an extra ten hours unexpectedly? Been there, done that. Life-threatening situations? Tuesday. Over-excited know-it-all babbling at her about their destiny together? At least this one doesn't need narcan.
She just expects that insane things will happen, people will be in danger, and she'll roll her sleeves up and help where needed. But she also won't take shit from anyone, especially doctors. And she's already developed her ability to crack jokes at the worst times and to embrace every beautiful thing in the moment because the next moment might involve someone dying in front of her. If they keep up the solid characterization she might actually be the perfect person to be a companion (though of course I still wish she wasn't from modern England).

Also like. Sure a lot of time lords are dead. But like. Rassillon is still in exile, the renegades aren't trapped by the war anymore, like bitch. Your brother.
Can 15 stop saying he’s the last of the time lords. Girl your ex is in a tooth as you speak

#28 The taking of planet 5, Simon bucher Jones & Mark claham, 1999

I couldn't get into this book. For some reason it feels like less than the sum of its part there is so many great ideas but maybe it's the reverance of the authors to the lovecraft mythos or the reverance to lovecraft himself that is making me uneasy maybe it's the too litteral take on eldritch time lords and "elder things" being depicted as basically squids that runs me the wrong way. Maybe it's the lack of point of anchorage like unnatural history and interference, blue angel even provided so well. Maybe it's that it feels really just all over the pleace
Fitz gets to be kinda freaky but mostly main characters are bounced around by the plot around time lords wearing squid bodies rather than being themselves shapeshifters as fact of their biology, celestis but made time lords bis, effectively sucking the mystery that alien bodies had established, and their agents don't feel that threatening.
The plot never felt threatening to me because the stakes are never made personnal, never touch on a personnal level.
So nice to see homonculette and Marie too bad Marie only makes a cameo and homonculette is undercover all the way through
6/10 a disappointing read
Guess what you idiots, I lied
Big ass DW review post number 2 EDA edition losers
Starting off with number #1 The eight doctors, Terrance Dicks, 1997

Overall it's a pretty unremarkable story. The most notable thing is that the first eighth doctor story revolves around solving his amnesia, by visiting several fan favourites episodes of the show in between sequences. It's a fun enough romp trough the show's history and refresher course, we get to see an unearthly child's rock murder attempt, the war games, the sea devils, E-space vampires, the five doctors' aftermath, the middle of the sixth doctor trial, and just a quick meetup with the seventh doctor for good measure.
Most of these short segments don't really make a coherent story, and while the doctor learns about himself, it still doesn't really add anything to these original stories. There's a side gallifreyan politics secret plot that just don't mesh nicely with the rest. It's all a bit messy, and although it introduces Sam Jones, it doesn't really do anything with her character and doesn't bring her along until the very end.
5/10 fun but is meant to be a refresher course that can only be enjoyed by people who were already fans

Roz Forrester: Manages to actually reconcile with her own family, gets to lead in a important battle, dies on her terms, and will be remembered as a hero.
Meanwhile the rest of the VNA cast post-lungbarrow :
