this is not an endorsement at all bc i am aware of the Horrors Of Data Tracking, but my iphone's health tracking capabilities actually are really good for my specific disabilities -- it clocks when i'm limping, when i'm injured, when my gait is otherwise off, etc. i often have very little awareness of my physical state beyond "eh, i'm in some pain, same shit as always" so it's really nice to have a phone that will tell me "hi baby. you're gonna fall and wreck your entire shit sometime in the next six months. maybe fix that."
anyway my strides have almost doubled in length and my gait unevenness is down to under 10% (from 50-80% earlier this year). ya girl is Regaining Her Capabilities 💪💪💪

I wonder how often physical therapists think to themselves "I know this sucks but jfc put some effort into it"
#note I'm not talking about elderly and overweight people#or people who are clearly badly injured#I'm talking about the 2 nearly identical young guys#late teens early 20s ish#who act like their mom is making them go suit shopping for easter brunch at grandma's#physical therapy#i remember last time i had to do this#there was this teenage boy who wasn't really engaging with his exercises#until they put me on the bike next to his#and i started outpacing him#bc he had a knee injury and i was there for balance issues so just need to build support muscle to keep me from tripping over everything#he didn't like the 30 year old woman going faster than him#so he started going as fast as he could and the therapist had to come over and tell him to knock it off

It’s so bizarre that I don’t qualify as “poor” and therefore deserve no benefits because I have a smartphone and a roof over my head but me and my cats have been starving for a week because both our foods went up unexpectedly, the USD went down all January and we can’t pay for it.

i'm fully about leaving people be and not judging other people's routines at the gym
but if you've ended up making a Contraption, you should have figured out several steps ago that you've gone off the rails
#please don't tie two weighted gym sticks together with jump rope#i know you're doing a bodyweight routine and the weight room is intimidating as a concept#but this gym sees 80% elderly people#and barbells were made for exactly the purpose you need#bodyweight routines tend to recommend doing your deadlifts with proper weights for a reason#please i am trying to do my stretches and the calisthenics room is the only proper place for it#(i blame the stark bullshit gendering of exercise for making ppl think they can't use the actual tools for their exercise)
