sometimes i'll be watching a video or reading up about a certain mental illness from people living with it and im like "oh some of these things are hitting..." but not to an extent that it debilitates my life? but also it feels like its certainly happening more than it should for like normal people lmao and i can never tell if these are just symptoms of my anxiety that cause certain feelings to be heightened or if theres something else going on
#just like for example#im watching this video about schizophrenic delusions#and the ladys talking about how she personally has a thing about mirrors and feeling like theres always a camera in them#or how shes always aware of cops around her because she has a thing about being followed by cops#and im sitting here like oh yeah i too am hyper aware of cops around me cuz i think im gonna end up getting arrested for a crime i didnt#even know i committed#but like thats probably just my anxiety#i do not think im schizophrenic btw im just using this as an example since im here#anyway my point is i'll hear about symptoms sometimes and be like 'oh yeah i have that more than a regular person probably does but also im#aware enough of them generally to be able to ignore it and not let it consume me so its probably a non issue then'#except there are other things where if brought to my attention i literally cannot let it go#but then that also my just be phobia related#like theres some things where if someone mentions it to me i will not be able to stop thinking about it and become very paranoid#im being vague cuz its about a fear i dont like telling people incase its used against me lmao#so you understand my position here#but again.... could just be phobia + anxiety coming together to fuck me up#i did have a therapist tell me once i might have ocd#thats another thing im always questioning#idk im doing a lot of talking im just thinking out loud here but like i would like to be able to go through life sometimes without being#plagued by such thoughts#(the paranoia and shit)

for the bingo thing?? how about logan??
- lots of love, rayn đ¤
Thanks for the ask, Ryan! I can absolutely do my favorite boy, apologies for my lack of hinges.
I think Logan is probably the most trustworthy, not bc none of the others wouldn't try their darnedest, but bc he also wouldn't get distracted and he's very capable and nor very impulsive generally.
I don't think anyone can quantify the sheer amount of Logan angst I have read, which is a fantastic marker for how much I like him. I relate to him so hard. I was always smart (and got called a robot frequently) but I have trouble with the emotional stuff. Identifying emotions is not my strong suit so sometimes I'll be straight chilling but start crying and have no idea why.
Also he has eldest daughter syndrome for real. Someone please help my boy.
Also one of the few cases where we could fix each other. If Logan Sanders told me he was proud of me I would shatter into a million pieces and reform into a better person. If he gave me a pat on the back and told me everything would be ok I'd say I'm yours in whatever way you want me. Lab partner? Done, I'll bring PPE. Help with work? I'm not that smart but I'll try. Wanna make out about it? My tongue's already in his mouth. Who said that?
Also, hi, he is so fucking tragic. Everytime he is ignored he takes it as a personal failure and if anything ever happened to c!Thomas that he could have prevented if he had been listened to it would destroy him, even if he literally did everything he could. c!Thomas cannot function without his Logic, we all know this. He's trying so hard, but he's not getting far at all and it really does matter. And this is why he feels like he can't ever be silly or have fun bc the weight of his world is on his shoulders and I'm not crying about it I swear.
I also need everyone to acknowledge the growth he's gone through. Whenever something gets brought to his attention and he sees that he needs to work on it, it doesn't happen that episode sometimes, but he does change his methods or behavior. He's trying so hard. That's what really gets me is his genuine, honest, whole-hearted effort that he puts into everything he does. That's my BOY.
Another thing really gets me is how absolutely tender Logan can be. Like Mr. No Emotions rolls up and does his best to provide comfort and care even though it's not his strong suit and he knows it (though he will try to defer to someone who's better at it if possible). This is absolutely related to how genuine he can be, which makes his current state devastating to me. Bitter cynicism is not what I want him to feel like he has to do! He's always been a little sarcastic and a little petty, but like in a way that didn't make me concerned for his mental health. He had such a beautiful outlook at the beginning but it's long since started to crumble. I hope he's not left with ruins.
I have so much to say, I don't think I'll ever be done. I really want to talk about what a dork he is. 'Cogitating cap'? I'm in love with him. I could never argue with him like 'whatever you say bbgirl'. Except for when he's doing that 'I don't have emotions' routine. I need all of them to stop lying to each other and themselves.
Right, so current state of canon thoughts. I need him to have the bitchiest, pettiest, rawest break down imaginable. He deserves to let it out and I want it to be explosive. I want him to do something they can't ignore.
Just in case I want to be clear, I don't think he's perfect and he's not the only one getting ignored. He is absolutely not the only one denying his feelings and I need ALL of them to cut that shit out. Also any annoyance expressed is at the character as a 'person' not the narrative, I really like how everything is being written and explored. That 'done dirty by canon' mark was hesitant and now I can't even remember why I put it there. I'm sure I'll remember in the middle of the night, I've had a long day lol.
Thanks again for the ask, and as always, absolutely anyone and everyone is welcome and invited to agree or disagree or ask for clarifications or expansions. I tried to keep it short and tbh compared to the amount of thoughts I have, I succeeded.
#i stuck some orang on their bc I am evil#sanders sides#logan sanders#rllybadfanfic character bingo#siding ask#this is accidentally doubling as a logan sanders thirst post i can't help it

all the love and I hope you're having a great
day/night/evening/afternoon wherever you are â¤ď¸
âOpen up!â
The only person that would opt to yell to get your attention than ring on your doorbell like a normal person would be Yena. And it helped that you immediately recognised her voice from the first syllable she uttered. That and you were currently moping in your living room with lactose-free ice cream, courtesy of Jimin that dropped it off a day ago when he heard that you were âsickâ. Even if you hadnât seen him face-to-face, you remember him softly hoping youâd get better.
You donât know why sheâs at your door, but youâre already on your feet to get her when you hear her begin to mutter curses directed at you behind the thin wood of your entrance.
âI can hear you!â You call.
âWell bitch then open the damn door!â She snaps.
You roll your eyes, and so far with the number of times youâve hung out with her, itâs safe to say that the two of you were comfortable. You never knew how fun having a girl best friend was until you met Yena, and sure itâs only been a little under two weeks since youâve gotten to know her through various messages and FaceTimes, but you feel like sheâs your friend soulmate.
And when you expressed that to her over a FaceTime call a few nights back, you remember her gagging all while you flush and attempt to take it back. You know her candidly calling you bitch rather than your name was her saying she felt the same.
You pull the door open as she stands there with her eyes narrowed into slits, eyeing you up and down before she scrunches her nose.
âThereâs a thing called a shower that you should look into. You look like a rundown version of long-haired Noah Beck.â She grimaces when she eyes you up and down.
You scowl. âYou did not just compare me to him.â
She clicks her tongue before she shoves you aside by shoving a plastic bag of the takeout food into your arms and steps into your apartment.
Yena ignores the glare you shoot at the back of her neck when she looks around your living room, scrunching her nose like she was here to inspect your room than pay you a visit.
âDid someone die in here or was that just your will to live?â
You scoff. âWow. Drag me.â
She waves you off before plopping onto your couch while you sigh, immediately heading to the kitchen to prep the food she brought over.
âFor a moment I thought you were dead.â She confesses casually.
When you return with bowls and plates, with the cutlery to matchâyou give her a dry look before youâre taking your seat on the floor; attempting to hide your half-eaten tub of ice cream, which Yena immediately spots.
âSo your first instinct was to yell at my door in hopes that I wasnât actually dead?â You ask dryly.
She picks up your ice cream and grimaces at it, silently judging you for the flavour before she gives you a shrug.
âYeah. I was hoping that your spirit would confer.â
You snort. âAnd the food?â
âA peace offering.â She tells you like itâs obvious.
You sigh, you loved Yenaâyou really did. She was all over the place and random, but it was a refreshing difference that you needed in your life from the usual law and order you often opted for.
âNot that I donât appreciate your concern,â You tell her, pulling out a container to see your favourite lemon chicken as you eye her suspiciously. âBut what brings you here? I told you I was sick.â
Yena scoffs. âAnd sick you are, bitch. What kind of sick person devours ice cream? Sure, you look the part but your diet says otherwise. Donât think I didnât see the empty packet of snickers in the trash.â
You scowl.
âI recovered yesterday.â You lie, taking a bite out of the chicken.
Yena rolls her eyes and you know she doesnât believe you. She leans into your couch while she watches you eat, âNamjoon texted me that you may need some company.â At that, you choke.
Her eyes widen as you hit at your chest to get the food to go down, eyes still wide at her revelation.
âWhy would he do that?â You cry.
âGirl, I know youâre not trying to deflectâyouâre literally about to choke and die.â
You glare at her. âIâm fine.â You cough for good measure, then youâre levelling another serious gaze at her.
âIâm fine.â You reiterate with an emphasis on your state even though you were anything but. âI donât know why the hell he thinks I need company.â You mutter under your breath.
At this, Yenaâs face softens as she leans forward to rest her elbows on her knees while you avoid her gaze; idly poking at your food.
âI donât know either, and you donât need to tell me anything.â She says softly. âThatâs all Iâm here for. To be your company, whether you need it or not.â
You donât know how much Namjoon told her over a text message, but you donât think itâs much. Purely because he didnât seem like a snitch and he was too respectful to ever let other people into the business that wasnât his own. Even at the thought, you want to groan because you essentially lured him into thinking it was okay for him to kiss you while you were ⌠you donât even know what the fuck was happening anymore.
âIââ You say weakly, and all Yena does is offer you a comforting smile.
For some reason, the fact that sheâs here right in front of you after you spent the day crying and feeling like your heart has been repeatedly stomped over with the addition of your ruminationâit feels nice to have someone with you, even if itâs just their presence.
But the way she doesnât look at you and expects something out of your conversation makes you feel even more overwhelmed, and thatâs probably why the dam breaks.
Yenaâs eyes widen as she immediately darts out to wrap her arms around you when you end up in violent sobs. You donât know why youâre crying but you are, and youâre tired of hiding things, your feelings and your intent just to pretend like things were okay.
âItâs okay.â She strokes your hair and it feels warm, like a mother comforting a crying baby and you realise that this is what friends should feel like.
âN-no itâs n-not!â You cry into her shirt and itâs messy, but she doesnât seem like she minds. Especially when she supports your pliable frame.
âYou wanna talk about it?â She asks softly, giving you a kind smile.
You sniffle, staring forward as you feel your eyes swell with the escalation of your tears.
âI donât know.â You whisper.
She hums, âItâs okay not to know. You donât need to know everything.â
âIâm just so tired, Yena.â You tell her in a hushed breath.
âLife is difficult.â She admits. âItâs natural to be tired.â
Youâre thankful to hear that she doesnât comfort you with blind optimism. Sheâs real and she acknowledges how shitty things may be, and frankly, you didnât need another wannabe altruist telling you that things will get better. You knew that, everyone did. But when youâre at rock bottom and all you see is darkness, youâre not looking for better. Youâre looking for a reason to continue.
âCan I say something?â She asks. The way she looks at you is soft and open, and non-judgemental. You feel safe.
You nod your head, teary eyes staring up at her.
âYouâre not responsible for anyoneâs feelings except your own.â She looks at you so seriously that you nearly feel your breath escape. âThere are things that you can and cannot controlâand the latter usually falls under the people around you.â
You suck in a breath, and you wonder how sheâs so spot on without ever touching on the true context.
âNamjoon texted me but I didnât come here because he asked me to. Itâs because you deserve to have someone be around you when youâre clearly not okay.â
âIâmââ
âYouâre not.â She blinks, and you almost pout at her firm tone. âAnd thatâs okay. I donât need to know what happened to justify how you feel. You couldâve stubbed your toe and feel like absolute shit and I have absolutely no right to judge you on how or when you feel emotions.â
You wonder where sheâs been your entire life and why she was only in your life now.
âBut the thing is,â She sighs. âYou donât always have to choose between something or the other. Sometimes you need to choose yourself.â
You stare up at her in awe because Yena was cool in general, her laidback and unbending personality was mainly what drew you to her because youâd argue you were the opposite. Even if Jungkookâs words stung, you could take it at face value and accept that it was true.
You were uptight and you were a bit of a prude, and for the longest time, you always resented that aspect of you. But you realised with Yena, she had traits that were resented in a woman as well. And you realise that youâd never be perceived the way you want unless you perceive yourself in a positive light first.
So when she speaks to you so sternly, yet with a tone of care as she picks apart her words so carefullyâyou realise what you have to do.
âI think I like Jungkook.â
Yena pauses for a brief second, but you donât see any judgement in her face. Just confusion, a warranted emotion you donât blame her for having.
âI figured as much.â
Your eyes widened, âHowâ?â
Itâs almost like a repeat of the first night at the football game when you befriended each other, but she only shoots you a gentle smile.
âCall it a womanâs intuition.â
You blink, fiddling with your fingers before you stare up at her, continuing your drawls.
âAnd we kissed.â
At this, Yena cocks an eyebrow up, âWas this recent?â
You fiddle with your thumbs before you sigh and push yourself up.
âThing is âŚâ You mumble, âIâm not like that.â
You donât answer her question because you canât think of a proper enough response to tell her that yeahâyou did kiss him, amongst other things that you foolishly allowed yourself to indulge in. You knew Yena wasnât judgemental but you also knew that you couldnât retrieve your words the moment they left your mouth. It was your own judgement that stopped you from saying the things you really wanted and it sucked, royally. Because you could tell that Yena wasnât out here to crucify you for being ⌠liberated. She just wanted to be there for you.
Yena scrunches her eyebrows in confusion as she allows your words to settle, pondering a response.
She settles for a huff, âCare to elaborate?â
âI donât ⌠do things like that.â You say softly. âIâm shy and quiet. Iâm not active in the social sphere and I only have three friends that I can reach out to if I wanna hang out. But even then, I donât ⌠I donât like partying, or drinking, or loud spaces. Iâm awkward and horrible at social interaction let alone being able to navigate my romantic feelings. And ⌠I felt so bad about it.â
Yenaâs eyes soften, but you canât look at her just yet. Not when this is the first time youâve ever laid yourself vulnerable, emotionally that is, to someone that wasnât just the confines of your thoughts.
âI always wondered what itâd like to be confident, to be liked on campus and not just be known as the smart girl.â You whisper. âMy entire personality was built around my achievements and I didnât know what else to do. What if ⌠what if I peak here and fail after?â Your eyes are wide in despair, and you feel your lips quiver when you speak.
âYouâll never know.â Yena reminds you gently. âYou wonât know who likes you or what people say about youâbut youâre going to be hearing your own thoughts 24/7 and thatâs what kicks you down or drives you further.â
You sigh, nodding your head.
âItâs just ⌠Jungkook and I were close. We grew up together even if heâs younger than me. But we just got along well and he ⌠he saw me. He used to comfort me whenever Iâd tell him how pressuring it got andâI feel so stupid because he probably says that to everyone and I fell for it.â You chuckle with no emotion, staring at the stray thread poking outside of your couch pillow.
âHave you spoken to him about your feelings?â She asks softly.
Immediately, you scoff and the sour emotion peaks through again.
âHeâs made it clear what he wants to hear from me.â You mutter.
Yena purses her lips before resting her hands gently on your shoulder.
âYouâre not answering my question, ______.â She chides gently.
You nibble on your bottom lip and shake your head. That earns a sigh from her as she wraps her arms around you once again, resting her chin on your shoulder as you allow yourself to feel the comfort of her warmth.
âHe kissed me first and we did things together.â Your lips quiver when you recall the memories, âA-And heâs with Jennie. I just âŚâ You flutter your eyes shut, âI donât want to say that Iâm the other girl but I feel a lot like a second option and it sucks.â
Yena doesnât ask, and she doesnât need to. She doesnât need to justify why you felt the way you did, so she holds you tighter.
âBabe.â She gently turns you to look at her with both hands resting on your shoulders. âDid you talk to him? Properly? Do you really know if heâs with her?â
âI think them kissing proves enough to me.â You snap, and you donât know why youâre being so hostile, especially to Yena.
She purses her lips, âYou kissed him and you arenât together.â
You wince and she shoots you an apologetic look. She sighs before reaching out to squeeze your hand, all while you stare at the ground to level out your emotions.
âIâm not saying that you canât feel the way you do. But Iâm offering objectivity here. Men are ⌠theyâre blunt creatures and thatâs the biggest difference between men and women.â You furrow your eyebrows as she takes a deep breath before she continues. âAnd the idea that weâre equal? No, weâre not. Iâm not talking about our systemic positions in society but on an emotional level. Men take things surface value and work with it, they donât stop to think about the layers of feelings that go into interpersonal relationships with friends, family or lovers. Women? We go big or we go home. All we see is the big picture and sometimes the little details get lost in translation. This isnât me justifying Jungkook playing home with you or Jennie at the same time, but offering you a perspective that may be hard for you to see because you arenât him.â
It was true, and you hated yourself for being aware but not putting action based on your own thoughts. Yena only reaffirmed the idea that you overthought every single interaction and maybe that was why you were the one that was hurting.
That, or you and Jungkook had horrible communication problems that neither of you was ready to face just yet. But how could you? When the two of you were on two different wavelengths and you were trying to be just enough for him while he was jumping off pedestals to see you.
It didnât feel nice, and it sucked because he was the same person that comforted you and broke you all at once.
âIâm scared.â You whisper.
She smiles at you gently, patting your head gently as you peer up at her with tears between your lashes.
âAnd thatâs okay.â She reassures you with a soft voice, âThe only thing scarier than being scared is not feeling at all.â
Before you go to where your heart tells you toâyour mind is the only thing that keeps you rooted in some form of rationale. Thatâs probably why youâre outside of Namjoonâs dorm. You donât think youâve ever paid his place a visit despite him telling you his address on multiple occasions, usually opting to hang out in public yet serene places where you were able to get a breather.
Your feet feel heavy and your fist is raised, but it barely moves. Especially when youâre just eyeing his door like a deer caught in headlights. Youâve rehearsed the apology on your tongue a million times, even if you donât really know what youâre apologising for. But you feel like you must, particularly because youâve senselessly let him see all of the feelings that you were trying to suppress in hopes of retaining the same ones he had for you.
You take a deep breath and deliver the first knock, the vibrations making your arm feel weak.
But youâre tired of always surrendering to bigger and more frightening things that you could understand. So you purse your lips and play the waiting game.
It seems like a long twenty minutes that you wait, but in reality, itâs only two when the door swings open. You brace yourself to see Namjoon, apology already sitting on your tongue.
You shouldâve dropped a text, you knew that. But you decided against it because you havenât spoken to Namjoon since what happened a few days ago. Neither of you speaking about the kiss or the way your eyes glistened when you saw Jungkook and Jennie together.
â____?â He asks confusedly.
You give him a meek smile, âHi. Can I come in?â
He blinks at you, and you notice he still has his glasses that he usually forgoes during the times youâve hung outâand you feel a little guilty for catching him at a bad time.
âYeah.â He clears his throat. âSure.â
Namjoon steps aside and youâre welcomed into the space of his living room. The first thing you notice is the interior, and how ⌠Namjoon it was. Itâs both cluttered and neat, the palette of his furniture matching the overall vibe he emanated. His furniture is mostly wood, light sandalwood that makes it feel all the homier.
And you tell him such, âYou have a very homey place.â
Namjoon turns his head to look at you right before he plops himself back onto his couch where you see the bits and pieces of paper scrambled across the floor and the couch. Even then, he was able to look so welcoming even though you reckon he has a right to be hostileâfor a reason you came here to apologise for.
âThank you.â He flushes, patting a spot in front of him for you to take your seat.
When you settle, the atmosphere turns strained when you mull over your words so that you wouldnât stumble over them. You practised, you didâabout a hundred times before you came here and you thought you were ready to apologise and put things behind you but itâs proven difficult when all he does is look at you in earnest.
âNot that Iâuhâmind,â He mumbles, âBut is there a reason why youâre here?â
You blink at him as you ignore the quiver in your heart.
âIâm sorry.â You blurt.
â_____ why are youââ
âYou didnât deserve what happened the other day.â You interject, voice soft but unwavering when you force yourself to look at him as his eyes widen.
âI wasnât the one that saw something I shouldnât have.â He reminds you with a frown.
You swallow, âI kissed you. And you âŚâ It wasnât helping that he was looking at you so gently as he awaits your continuation. âYou didnât need to save me back then, Namjoon.â You end in a whisper.
Namjoon reaches out to grab your shoulder, touch gentle as he searches for your eyes.
âI didnât save you âŚâ He tells you tenderly.
âItâs not just that!â You exasperate while you throw your hands up in the air. âI-itâs everything ⌠from the way you treat me and the way you look at me. You didnât need to do any of that and you evenââ You trail off, fluttering your eyes shut. ââwhat did you say to Jungkook right before we left?â
Namjoonâs eyes enlarge as his grip becomes tense against your shoulder. You can almost see the way his mind kicks into gear as he thinks of a response.
âThatâIâdoes it matter?â He huffs.
Your eyes soften, âNamjoon.â You force yourself to look at him even if now he was the one that tries to avoid your gaze. âWhat did you say?â
Namjoon tightens his lips before he sighs deeply, head dropping forward before he looks at you.
âI told him to be honest.â He says softly.
You furrow your eyebrows, âTo be honest âŚ?â
âI know you have feelings for him.â
Your face blanches when Namjoon basically exposes you. Itâs one thing for you to be self-aware of your complicated feelings towards the other boy. But when someone else points it out, especially when itâs Namjoonâthe boy whoâs been nothing but kind and patient with you while youâre too busy being caught up in your emotionsâitâs like a slap across your face.
âI-I donâtââ
âYou donât need to lie to save my face, ______.â He chuckles dryly, eyes darting away as he tries to neutralise his expression. You wince at the spite he establishes, but you know deep down that Namjoon isnât angry at you. No, he was far too understanding to be. Disappointed? Frustrated? Sure, but never angry,
The silence answers for you when you look away this time, eyebrows scrunched as you attempt to navigate the conversation. You came here to apologise, and to be honest.
âIâm sorry.â You whisper.
âDonât.â He takes a deep breath as you flinch. âDonât ⌠apologise.â He sighs.
âI didnât mean to lead you on, Namjoon.â You murmur apologetically.
He shoots you a half-hearted chuckle, âYou didnât do anything. Really.â
âBut I did, Namjoon. I kissed you back.â You frown.
âThat doesnât imply anything. I kissed you, and you reciprocated. We all kiss someone and not mean anything by it.â
You flinch, and youâre familiar with that more than anyone else. The reminder only stings because it makes you realise that you were not much different from Jungkook, the same person youâve claimed to have messed with you and fucked you over.
âIâmââ
âPlease donât apologise anymore.â He says. âI already feel like shit.â
You smile sadly at him, âHow do you manage to be so nice even when otherâs do you wrong?â
Namjoon sighs, then he grabs both your hands in his. âYou didnât wrong me, _____. Itâs not your fault you donât feel the same way I do.â
âHow did you âŚâ You trail off.
âHow did I know you had feelings for Jungkook?â He chuckles. âThe same way he knew I had feelings for you.â
You purse your lips, eyes dropping to your lap. âItâs not that simple, Namjoon âŚâ You say softly.
Namjoon smiles at you gently, âIs it?â He gently nudges your knee with his so that youâd look at him. âLife is simple. Itâs not easy. But itâs simple.â
You scoff even if a small smile teases your lips, âYou really are a philosophy major, arenât you?â
The two of you grin in tandem before he purses his lips, possible mulling over something before he faces you.
âThe two of you are close so ⌠why beat around the bush?â
Your eyes flutter shut, shaking your head. âLike I said, itâs really not that simple.â
He rolls his eyes at you, but itâs not to mock or taunt you. Namjoon simply sees a naive, yet an intelligent girl who doesnât see whatâs right in front of her.
âRemember what I said? Iâm a simple guy.â He reminds you, lips in a grin. âTry me.â
You snort, but youâre still nervous. You still remember that he has feelings for you, so youâre hesitant. And he immediately recognises the guilt-ridden expression that you mar.
Namjoon shoots you a stern glare, âDonât overthink it.â
You sigh.
âJungkook and I âŚâ You start, fiddling with your thumbs. âWe grew up together.â
Namjoon rolls his eyes and shoots you another one of his bland stares. âI know the history. I just want to know why?â
You furrow your brows, âWhy?â
âWhy the two of you insist on being so emotionally constipated.â
You gape at his audacity, and youâre glad the atmosphere isnât as tense because Namjoon simply snickers at your reaction.
âI am notâ!â
He waves you off, âReally?â He adds dryly.
You purse your lips and relent, even if you didnât want to agree with himâyou knew that he was ⌠right. To a certain extent.
âWe kissed.â You blurt.
Namjoon raises an eyebrow, âThatâs not surprising.â
You shoot him a dry look before he raises his hands in defence.
âHe was my first kiss.â
At this, Namjoonâs widen.
âWhen you were in high school?â He pries.
You flush, embarrassed that you had to tell him otherwise.
âTwo months ago.â You mutter.
Namjoon splutters, and you canât help but glare at him when he quite literally chokes on his spit. You know you caught him off guard, but him rubbing salt in the wound thatâs relatively fresh makes you scowl.
âOh.â He clears his throat. Then he repeats, âOh.â
You scoff, âYeah. Oh.â
âThen ⌠what happened?â You know heâs treading carefully with you when he asks you his question softly.
You purse your lips, and you recall every single moment youâve shared with him. From giggles to hushed kisses, to intimate touches and sweat-stained sheets that have you gasping for air. You remember it all, and they meant ⌠they meant the world to you, but just a speck in his memory.
âThings escalated and we ⌠did stuff together.â You wince.
Namjoon nods in understanding, he gestures his hands around, âLikeââ
âIâm a virgin.â
Namjoon blinks.
âAnd for the longest time, I felt embarrassed about it.â
âOh.â
âI struggled to find my footing between being sexually liberated and being a woman because for the longest time I thought those two were mutually exclusive. For me, at least.â You say softly.
Namjoon only stares at you.
âAnd I always wanted validation from someone else to tell me that what I was doing was the right thing to do. Or the supposed thing to do. Never what I really wanted to do.â
âNot that Iâm uncomfortable but ⌠why are you letting me in on this?â Namjoon asks with a raised brow.
âBecause I want to do something for myself for once.â You whisper.
âOkay âŚ?â
âWhy do you like me? Even if Iâm ⌠boring and not as sexy as other women?â
You sound pathetic, and the first person you find yourself comparing yourself to is Jennieâa beautiful, confident woman who looked so assured in herself.
âYouâre notââ
You groan.
âNamjoon.â
âOkay.â He sighs. âIf youâre asking me if I care that youâre a virgin, then no. I really donât. Because frankly, that concept to me is false and problematic. Whether or not youâve had sex or not isnât any of my business.â
You duck your head.
âAnd I like you because youâre interesting. Youâre funny and youâre assured in your own way. You donât need to be a certain standard of pretty or sexy or whatever for me to like you. I like you because of the time weâve spent together and that Iâve gotten to know you. The real you and not the person I admired from afar but the girl who throws in jokes out of nowhere but fits so well with the situation. The girl whoâs willing to spend three extra hours of her time to help with content that wasnât prescribed to her. I like you because Iâd like to think Iâve grown to understand who you are.â
Namjoon says all of those things while staring at you straight in the face and you feel compelled to cry. Because no one has ever been so honest with you and you hate that your heart canât reciprocate what should be an easy feeling that comes naturally.
âFuck.â
His eyes widen.
âHey, itâs okay.â He coos, a hand petting your hair gently as you sniffle.
âItâs not, Namjoon. Everything sucks because everything is so complicated. Why canât I just have feelings for you instead?â
Itâs selfish, and Namjoon winces. But youâre so overwhelmed that you miss it, and Namjoon is too nice to point his own feelings out.
âYou donât pick and choose your battles, _____.â He murmurs softly.
âThatâs not what my mom told me.â You whimper.
He chuckles, âYeah. Most people like to believe that because it makes them think that they have a choice over the bad things that happen in their lives. But in reality? They donât. No one decides what happens to them. You pick and choose how you react to things. How you deal with situations and what you make out of those situations is what you can choose to do. You donât like me, and thatâs fine. You donât have to just because Iâm nice to you, _____. Being nice is the absolute bare minimum and something that everyone should feel and do.â
Your face crumbles, âWhy are you so wise?â
Namjoon smiles, âIâm not. Itâs called offering a different perspective. Just because I see things one way doesnât make me any better than you who sees things in another. Thatâs why we meet different types of people throughout our lives. The good, the bad, the in-between. Thereâs always something people offer to us in the midst of chaos.â
You sigh.
âIâm sorry, Namjoon.â
He pats your head, âI said donât apologise.â
âNo, but I want to. Youâve been nothing but kind to me and you picked up a shitty situation to be in when Jungkook and Jennie were at the library. Even right after I kissed you. That was ⌠a horrible thing to do. I shouldnât have done that just becauseâjust because I was confused ⌠you donât deserve that.â
He doesnât look angry, and thatâs even worst because you want him to react, to call you a bitch and say that you were a horrible person.
âI donât.â He shrugs while you wince. âBut a lot of the times we donât deserve a lot of things that we get. And thatâs okay. You did what you thought was justified then, and thereâs nothing you can do to change it. But youâre hurting too, and youâre confusedâthatâs what drove you to do the things that you did, and even here. Thatâs why youâre apologising to me, right? Because youâre not as confused anymore?â
You shake your head.
âI am, Iâm still so confused.â You whisper.
âThen let me offer you another perspective.â
You look up to him with big eyes as he smiles at you gently.
âYou have feelings for Jungkook.â You immediately flinch, even if he didnât hit you. But Namjoon continues. âYouâre trying to keep the picture as simple as you can even if it hurts you in the process. But
âYou donât understand, Namjoon ⌠we ⌠did things ⌠that Iâm not proud off âŚâ
âYou donât have toââ
âHe was my first kiss. My first ⌠sexual experience. Even if it was just ⌠third base,â You cringe, but Namjoon isnât judging you at all. âA-and thatâs all I was to him. An experience.â
âYou donât know that.â
âDo I, Namjoon?â You say softly. âHe said things to me that were so hurtful. And a stupid part of me forgives him but it still hurts every time I think about it and when I see him with Jennie.â
You whisper the words Jungkookâs said to you, and for the first time, you see Namjoonâs jaw harden. The most emotion that wasnât rationale youâve seen in Namjoon ever since you first arrived.
âI know it hurts.â He murmurs, holding you close. âAnd I really donât want it to seem like Iâm justifying his words ⌠but would you want to hear me out?â
You purse your lips and nod nevertheless.
âJungkook isnât a bad person.â You blink, you never thought he was. âI know you donât think he is but you want to. Because of the things heâs said to you because why would a good person say those kinds of things, right? But the world isnât black and white like that. Thereâs a grey area where 99% of the population falls into because we operate on emotion and sometimes we say things that we may feel but not necessarily believe in.â
âJungkook ⌠heâs still young. And I know weâre in college and stuff but heâs still three years younger than I am and two years younger than you. Heâs spoken to me about how hard it was to adjust to a high school life where you, Jimin and Tae werenât a part of. And I donât know about you but if the only friends Iâve ever known suddenly left because they had to ⌠I wouldnât know what to do either. He was at a point in his life where his environment played a huge part in the values and internalised beliefs he had.â
You look away as you reflect on his words, nibbling on your bottom lip.
âHe mixed around with different groups of people, and I hate this saying but itâs still a common belief to manyâespecially people his age, almost out of high school. But the âboys will be boysâ mentality is more than just misogyny and sexism, but a culture where it feeds off complacency and peer pressure. Jungkook suddenly had to shift from three, good friends who were progressive and influential in an objectively good way to people he was obliged to like because they were his peers.â
You gape at him, purely because you knew that Namjoon was smart and wise but his introspection leaves you breathless and enlightened.
âBut that doesnât change the core of Jungkook,â Namjoon says. âHeâs still Jungkook. He doesnât know how to ask for things that he wants without feeling like heâs betraying his masculinity. And again, Iâm not justifying his actions because heâs a grown man too. But heâs lost, and the only thing he knows to uphold this sense of masculinity is by being sexually liberated. Even if he conflates his own emotions with his endeavours.â
âI ⌠I donât even know what to say Namjoon.â You murmur, eyes looking up through your lashes.
âYou donât need to say anything. I just want you to be honest to yourself, not anyone else. But yourself.â He tells you, carding a gentle hand over your head.
You fiddle with your thumbs.
âWhat do you want?â
Despite you confiding two different people, you find yourself at a convenience store at 12AM, scarfing down ramen from a cup noodle because your mind was a funny place when it was muddled with a hundred different thoughts. You knew sleep wasnât an option for you either, and you were hungry. But somehow you didnât have anything back in your apartment that screamed âIâm in a crisisâ enough for you to eat.
Which is why youâre here, while the cashier keeps his eyeball to himself when he sees yet another college student whoâs probably having their third mental breakdown of the day.
It is, but not for the right reasons, you think dryly.
You think youâre alone until the chime of the bell momentarily distracts you and you turn your head to acknowledge the next lone customer who may be going through their own set of issues, or had a fucked up sleeping schedule.
But youâre not expecting to make eye contact with Jennie, out of everyone or any stranger you couldâve come across.
She spots you, shoots you a weird look that has you nearly choking on a string of noodles before she moves on to what she came here to do and stops at the snack section, skimming through her options before she settles on a pack of shrimp chips. Your heart churns because they were Jungkookâs favourite. You donât want to wonder why she picked them.
You turn to your noodles, scarf them down some more because you want to eat your thoughts away even if youâre half-considering to call Jungkook, tell him you wanted to talk. But you knew that if you spoke to him now when you were still sorting out your thoughts, youâd end up in a situation you wonât be ready to deal with.
So when you poke at your food and sigh to yourself, you almost miss the way the stool beside you scrapes against the floor as you cringe.
You turn to shoot a petty glare at the person, and you see Jennie; casually tearing open her chips and popping one into her mouth
You blink at her, and youâre left even more speechless when she juts her hand out as if to offer you a shrimp cracker. Like it was a weird symbol of a truce. Even if you werenât really ⌠enemies.
âWant some?â
You stare at her, and before you can think twice your lips are moving.
âThe crackers or your company?â You say dryly.
Her eyes widen, and so does yours. You didnât expect to say your exact thoughts and you donât think she expected a quiet, timid girl like you to have said thatâout loud at least. Like Yena said, everyone has a mean bone in them. Some longer and larger than others, but they were still there.
âWow.â She huffs, but she doesnât seem offended. âRude, much?â
You wince and feel compelled to apologise. âSorry.â
She waves you off and you feel odd to be sitting next to her. You always expected her to be more malicious, a lot more of a bitch. And you frown to yourself because you suppose itâs your own preconceived notions of her due to the association she has with Jungkook that had you thinking of her that way.
âWhatâs someone like you doing here on a weekday?â She asks off-handedly.
The term âsomeone like youâ doesnât sit well with you, and you scowl.
âIâm eating. What does it look like?â You retort, and Jennie only raises an eyebrow at your response. Much like an angry kitten.
âDamn, I was just asking.â She mutters under her breath, âIâm hungry. Needed a snack.â She shakes the crackers in front of you, âYou sure you donât want one?â
You canât believe her as you gape at her easy-going state when she thrusts the bag of crackers into your face yet again.
âNo.â You furrow your brows, gently pushing it away as she shrugs her shoulders.
âItâs good.â She reasons, and you donât know why sheâs so adamant about having you take one.
The irrational part of you thinks she wants to poison you, to eliminate you for good so she wonât have to deal with your pathetic pining over a person that wasnât even yours.
âI know.â You mutter. âI tried it before.â
Jennie nods her head slowly, observing the content of the packet on the back before she turns to face you, âJungkook introduced this to me. Didnât see the appeal but itâs addictive.â
You freeze, and your ramen soup is getting cold with the way you havenât prodded at it for a while and in the air-conditioning in the convenience store. You feel your stomach drop, especially now that your initial suspicions were confirmed.
âThatâs nice.â You grit. It really isnât.
âDid he introduce it to you?â She asks with a tilt of her head.
Why youâre still talking to her, or why she was bothering to talk to you when sheâs ignored you all this whileâyou arenât sure. But you still answer her despite the spite that forms in your chest.
âI introduced it to him.â You inform.
She hums, unbothered. It only irritates you more.
âIs there a reason?â You huff. âWhy youâre here?â
She raises an eyebrow, âIâm hungry?â
You scoff. âNo.â You slam the table ever so slightly because even if you were annoyed and confused, you werenât that brave and you didnât want to cause a scene at a convenience store at midnight. âWhy are you here. Talking to me.â
Jennie blinks at you, then stares at you for seconds too long that you flush under her unwavering stare before she ends up in a fit of giggles. You almost think sheâs here to mock you, to call you out on your pathetic and humiliating pining for someone who doesnât care about you the same way you do to him. But she pats you on the shoulder, and you want to think itâs condescending but it doesnât seem that way at all.
âYouâre an acquaintance. You looked like you needed the company.â
You frown, âI donât.â
She rolls her eyes, munching on another chip.
âYou do. Your posture looks depressing.â
âExcuse me?â You scowl.
âItâs true.â She shrugs. âYou donât seem the type to be here wallowing unless itâs really bad. You seem like you have your shit together.â
And because your mind is already muddled and confused, and filled with irrational thoughts. Her words set you off, and you seem to be underrating or overreacting more than usual. So you snap, you shove your cup aside that the soup nearly sloshes out and send her a glare so blazing that Jennieâs caught off guard.
âAnd you think you know me well enough to gauge whether or not Iâm âlike thisâ or the type to have a perfect mental breakdown regimen because Iâm smart?â You seethe. Jennieâs eyes widen. âI have mental breakdowns like every other student and I binge eat when Iâm stressed and I fuck up from time to time. I curse, yes! I see your face. Oh does she not curse? Well, look at me, bitch. I can curse like a motherfucking sailor at sea when the fishes come because Iâm human. Iâm just like you. So fuck off with your âyou seem like you have your shit togetherâ because I donât and Iâm so fucking annoyed with your stupid face whenever I see it because it only reminds me of Jungkook!â
The silence is defining, even the cashier stops counting his bills for the night because you donât hear the rubbing of money together. You feel his stare on your back, and more pressingly, you feel Jennieâs shocked expression linger on your face, and now that youâve come down from your rage. Your face heats up in embarrassment.
You donât even recall what you said, except for the fact youâve mentioned her and Jungkook in the same sentence. And your face pales.
âI âŚâ She chokes.
You flush, before youâre turning away, snatching your belongings to leave and forget this convenience store and never return because you donât think you can show your face here ever again.
But before youâre able to make a run for it, a hand grabs your elbow that stops you from moving any further.
âThis is already as embarrassingââ You exasperate, trying to snatch your arm away.
âFor a girl so smart, youâre really dumb, arenât you?â She deadpans.
You gape, finding enough strength to retrieve your arm as you stare at her with a dumbfounded expression.
âExcuse meâ?â
âFirstly, letâs unpack what you just said because there are a lot of things that need to be dissected here.â She says blankly.
You scowl, âLook I donâtââ
âOne.â She blinks as if she was doing a presentation for a course and not talking to an alleged acquaintance. âI donât think you should act a certain way just because youâre smart. Youâre entitled to your own mechanisms and Iâm not judging you for them. I was simply pointing out my own observations, and Iâm sorry for being insensitive.â
Youâre stunned to silence, because did Jennie just ⌠apologise to you?
âTwo.â She says. You listen silently. âI think you have things you need to talk to Jungkook about, and franklyâI wouldâve stayed away if I knew that the two of you were a thing.â
âWeâre not a thing!â You cry, face flushed.
She shoots you an unimpressed look, âReally. So that oddly targeted blow-up was because of your mental breakdown and not because you donât have feelings for Jungkook?â
Sheâs the third person to call you out the same day, or within the first one in the next. And itâs even more embarrassing because itâs the girl youâve compared yourself to countless times because of your own insecurities.
âYes.â You snap childishly.
Jennie sighs, gesturing for you to sit on the stool. You want to defy her out of spite, but youâve already gotten this far into the conversation and you feel like youâd miss out on something if you left now.
âWhy are you mad at me?â She asks.
âI-Iâm not madââ You weakly protest.
âYou are. Thereâs anger in you and if itâs not directed to Jungkook then itâs directed to me. Is it because Iâm a woman?â
Your eyes widen, âWhatâ?â
âLet me reword that,â She sighs. âIs it because Iâm the woman with Jungkook?â
You flinch at her declaration, especially since she indirectly confessed to being with him, while you werenât.
âI donât âŚâ You trail off in a whisper.
âI donât blame you for being angry.â She says. âBut I need you to understand that I would never have done anything with him if I knew that the two of you were together.â
âWeâre not.â You blink, and her unimpressed look is still there that makes you speak a little louder. âWeâre not together.â
She opens her mouth to say something, then shuts it. You see her furrow her eyebrows before she settles for a response that comes a few moments after.
âOkay, then if youâre not together then why the resentment?â She puts it so simply and now that youâre listening to her, you feel a lot stupider.
âI just âŚâ You croak, fiddling with your fingers, âI donât âŚâ
She sighs, âListen. Weâre both women here. I know how it feels to be left in the dark when it comes to things like this but thereâs no point in being angry at me when in reality itâs Jungkook you need to talk to. If you arenât together then I donât understand why youâre angry with meâor with him.â
You sit there in silence, nearly pouting like a scolded child.
âYouâre his type.â You say softly.
Jennie pauses before she raises an eyebrow.
âAnd you believe that?â
You furrow your eyebrows, âI mean, of course?â You mumble, âYouâre pretty, confident and sexy. Any guy would like you.â
For a moment, you think youâve said too much. Looked to vulnerable. But Jennie doesnât do the typical mean girl thing where she laughs in your face and threatens to expose you. Instead, her eyes soften, and her hand reaches out to hold yours.
â____.â She calls your name gently, and you look away, embarrassed. âYouâre pretty. Youâre confident. You are sexy.â
You flush, âNo. Iâm not.â
She scoffs, â_____, there isnât a set definition of what a pretty woman is like. Nor is there a one-dimensional understanding of a confident woman. There are confident women who strut in their walk and commands all the attention in the room. But there are also quiet, assured women who are intelligent and confident in their capabilities. Both of them are so different, but the one thing that they have in common?â She prompts as your eyebrows furrow. âTheyâre both women who are worthy of love.â
You blink up at her when her tone goes softer.
âI donât think Iâm Jungkookâs type.â She tells you.
But for some reason you need to deny it, again.
âI think you are.â You mumble, âYouâre ⌠you. And youâre probably ⌠experienced.â You cringe at what you say, and youâre mortified if you need to explain yourself to her. But Jennie immediately picks up on it, and you donât notice how she tenses for a split second but recovers immediately.
âWeâve done things together, yes.â You feel your heart shatter, âBut you donât have to do anything with him for him to like you.â
You sigh, âMaybe. But that's the only way heâs ever wanted me.â You say so softly that Jennie almost doesnât catch it.
Jennieâs face softens much more, turning into a much gentler expression as she nudges your chin to look at her. And when you do, you feel wounded. You feel so much less assured than you were when you were raging at her. You hated it, how she treated you so kindly when she shouldâve been cursing at you like you did to her.
âDo you want to know something?â She asks.
You nibble on your lips before you nod your head.
âIf someone doesnât want you. Itâs not because youâre lacking. Itâs because theyâre lacking the sense to perceive you in a way that recognises your inherent worth to be loved.â
Your breath hitches and Jennie continues.
âIâve had instances where men didnât want to sleep with me because I was too confident, too sexually liberated for them. As if who I slept with mattered because it wasnât them. It was never going to be them.â
âI didnât sleep with Jungkook.â You tell her, voice soft as if you needed to clarify.
âAnd you donât need to. You donât need to sleep with anyone for them to want you. If Jungkook only wants you for your body then he doesnât deserve you.â She points out.
You feel your heart clench, and the realisation coming from Jennie only hurts even more.
âBut heâs important to me âŚâ You whisper.
âWhatâs important is not always whatâs good for you.â She informs you with a gentle smile. âYour sexuality is yours. And if you want to sleep or be sexual with someone, you do it because you want to. Not because someone coerced you into doing it.â
Your eyes widened, âN-No. Jungkook didnât force me. I consented. To all of it.â You murmur, âI wanted to do it. B-But I just felt so ⌠lacking? In comparison and ⌠since then all heâs came to me for was just ⌠that.â
Jennie nibbles on her bottom lip, âJungkookâs not a bad person.â She says softly. And sheâs the second person that tells you that. So you know itâs a true reflection of his character.
âI know.â
She smiles, âWe both do.â She nods, âBut heâs misguided. Heâs never had the ability to be with someone he really cares for and I think when that happenedâhe dealt with it the only way he knows how to.â
You furrow your brows, âBut heâs with you.â
She shakes her head with a small chuckle, âNo. Not emotionally, at least.â She informs. âAnd he doesnât care about me. I know. Heâs always kept me at arms-length away, and Iâm fine with that because I donât like him like that either.â
You blink, and your ears turn red. âH-How do youâ?â
âHow do I separate lust from affection?â She laughs. âItâs because I can. Not everyone can do that, and Jungkook is one of them.â
âBut you just said that he didnât care about you.â
âIâm not talking about me,â She smiles sadly.
Your eyebrows scrunch in confusion until you realise what she was implying. And you donât want to assume anything, never. Because hope was the one feeling that was worse than fear and you didnât want to subject yourself to that just yet.
âOh.â You mumble.
She nods, squeezing your hand.
âI think he misses you.â
You purse your lips.
You missed him, too.

Demon Boyfriends: Elow &Siphorus
Suprise! I wrote something! Whatâs better than one demon boyfriend, you ask? Two demon boyfriends, duh. I started this literal months ago, and Iâm not going to lie, it's very self indulgent and porny. My praise kink is clear and in full swing. I was going to make one of the characters a hard core brat but he turned soft, what can I say. Anyways, I hope you guys like this! This is a link to my Ko-Fi, everything is appreciated but nothing is expected. <3
Life has been going great for you. Too great, really. You landed a well paying job in a cute small town named Talon Valley. You found the cottage of your dreams in the forest a few miles out of town. It was perfectly desolate and had a garden already set up in the back, as well as shelves that will work perfectly to store your potions. You already picked a great altar space, as well. It was your first time living alone, and you were excited to finally practice your craft in peace.Â
Except there was no peace, and you soon discovered you were not alone. At first, the misplaced items didnât phase you. You were still unpacking and you really didnât know where you set things most of the time anyway. Only after the first couple weeks when things were supposed to be in their places, did you start to notice.Â
You were a witch, sure. But that didnât mean you werenât easily spooked. You didnât want to make things worse, so instead of doing a cleanse that could anger something stronger than you, you did a few charms and protection spells on yourself. That did nothing to stop the tiny torments. If anything, they increased. Not only were several potions moved, but they were mixed together haphazardly. Then your blinds would open after you had closed them, or your fridge would be left cracked. All harmless things, but knowing someone or something else was doing this was enough to have you constantly on edge. You just wanted to relax, dammit!
You never thought of this side of living alone. During the day, you were living in a beautiful cottage in the lush green forest, but at night it felt as though you were in a haunted cabin in the woods. You really couldnât take it anymore. You had cried and whimpered all night when you felt you were being watched, and by the time the sun rose you had resolved to deal with this.Â
You gathered some materials and made your way out of the house. After all, a summoning spell required a lot of concentration and you certainly wouldn't be able to do it in there. You found a nice clearing not too far from your home, and set up. You lit a few candles, did a few incantations, and waited. You were about to give up when, in a puff of smoke, a demon appeared. They were crouched down with blue flames dancing around them, but even still they seemed massive.
As the demon uncurled and stood himself upright, it seemed as though more and more limbs appeared. You counted six arms coming out of him, his whole body a gradient of black to white. His pitch black fingertips seemed as though they were covered in soot, and as you got closer to the middle of his body his skin was more and more milky white. Hooved feet clap on the ground. He had dark eyes and horns like a ramâs curled on the side of their head, with long black hair in between, and he towered over you.
He lowered himself and took your shaking hand in one of his large ones, his pure white eyes staring at you.Â
âIt is lovely to meet you, my master,â his voice is like velvet, and he flashes you his sharp teeth at you before placing a gentle kiss on the back of your hand. âThey call me Siphorus. I cannot wait to be of service to you.â
You let out a bleating laugh, unsure what to make of this. You werenât expecting such a large and powerful demon to come; you werenât even out of the broom closet and this kind of thing should take years of real practice.Â
âUm, master?â
He chuckled under his breath, âYes, master,â he rose, âYou summoned me and I am under your command. I promise to fulfil anything you ask of me.â
You ignored his suggestive promise. Smooth as he may be, you were out in the middle of the woods for a more important reason. âYou can just call me Lily if youâd like? And well, I sort of need your help with something?â
âLike I said, I am under your command, master,â he prompts you, a clawed finger lifting your chin up.Â
âThereâs something in my house,â you tell him, clearing your throat and putting some space in between the two of you. âSomething spooky and it...watches me I think. I donât know how to make it go away by myself.âÂ
âA powerful witch such as yourself?â he frowns âNo matter, I shall play the role of your gallant protector.âÂ
You fight the urge to roll your eyes. Honestly, who talks like that? For someone who looks so formidable, heâs a bit on the odd side. At least he is going to help you.Â
He starts towards your house, although you arenât sure how he knows the way.
âAh yes, I can feel his presence here.â Siphorus opens the door for you with a flourishing gesture.
As soon as one of his hooved feet lands on the other side of your doorway, chaos breaks out. Cabinets are slamming, furniture is being overturned, and the lights are flickering.Â
âShe is MY master! GET OUT!â A voice yells out as lightbulbs start to explode. You let out a scream as glass flies at you, covering your face and burying it in the stomach of the demon by your side. With a wave of his hand Siphorus halts the glass midair, something you probably could have done if you hadnât been so panicked. You step away from him once again, your face hot. You try to convince yourself itâs from his inner hellfire, but you arenât too sure.Â
Siphorus clicks his tongue in a disapproving manner. âNow now, let us not make a mess of our sweet Lilians home, hm?âÂ
An angry hissing sound responds back, things slamming and shaking but nothing as messy.Â
âThis is quite the tantrum. Honestly, show yourself and be gone!â Siphorus calls out, and a figure starts to appear.Â
White hot flames spiral out in your living room and from within it steps another demon. This one is almost as tall as Siphorus, but not quite. He is lanky, and his skin textured, light colored but red seemed to be pumping underneath, as if it was scar tissue. This one only has one pair of arms, and has no hair. His eyes are cat-like and stare straight at Siphorus, flames around him roaring even stronger.
âGET OUT!â the figure yells, and you flinch into Siphorus once again.Â
The flames suddenly go out, and you turn to see the other demon looking at you now.
âWhat,â he paused, swallowing thickly. âWhat is going on? Did you...find a new demon?â He asked, his voice sounding distraught. âI didnât mean to scare you.â
You stand there confused at his words. He doesnât sound scary at all, if anything he sounds heartbroken. The fear melts away, and you take a step away from Siphorus.Â
âWhat do you mean a new demon? This one belong to you?â Siphorus asks, eyebrow raised. You just shake your head, and he heaves a dramatic sigh.Â
âOf course I belong to her. I became attached to her weeks ago and she brought me home. She was walking in the forest and I felt her energy. It was lonely so I came with,â he hissed these words out, eyes turned to slits.Â
âShe was scared and I had to keep her safe! She was making protection charms and satchels and sticking them everywhere.âÂ
âFrom you, you nimwit! She didnât even know you were in the house!â Siphorus admonishes him, âYou should have at least presented yourself!â
His face falls further and the demon places himself on one of your dining room chairs, dwarfing it.
âBut, she never asked for me? I was never summoned to do her bidding, or had any reason to show myself. I just thought she knew I was here, and would ask me if she needed anything. Since she didnât ask, I just watched over her.â he sniffles, and you get a knot in your throat.Â
A pitiful âOh,â passes through your lips. You move over to him, letting him scoop you onto his lap.
âI just wanted to be a good demon, Iâd never had a master that was such a nice witch,â he whines high in the back of his throat, nosing at your hair. You coo at him the way you would a scared puppy, doting on him with attention and sweet pets on his scarred and hairless head.
You then hear a scoff from Siphorus, both you and the new demon turning to look at him.
âWhat?â
âThe two of you are absolutely pitiful, do you know that?â Siphorus asks, baffled.
You stay cuddled up, âWell, wait - what is your name?â you look up into his eyes, his fangs pushing into his soft looking lips.Â
âElow, master,â he replies into your hair, still trying to get as close as possible to you.Â
âElow, itâs nice to meet you,â you tell him, giving him a sweet smile he readily returns. âWell Iâm absolutely fine with Elow staying. And I donât think weâre pitiful.â
Siphorus sputters. âWell, I suppose we have a bit of a problem, then. You summoned me to get rid of him, and I cannot leave until your summons are completed.âÂ
âOh, Iâm so sorry. I just donât feel good about making him leave now, Siphorus.â You tell him, and feel Elows long arms wrap even tighter around you.
âYes, Siphorus. Please donât make me leave now,â Elow asks him, eyes wide.
You assure Siphorus you will help him in any way that you can.Â
âYou can stay here until we figure out how to let you go back, of course. I- do you sleep?â you ask them. âI can get some rooms ready for you!â And you scurry off, hoping that the two demons get along.
You arenât sure how to act now that you have both demons staying in your home. Firstly, you layout some ground rules as far as Elow touching your potions and leaving the fridge door open. He looks so sad after your gentle scolding, so you take some time to comfort him as well. The two of you snuggle up on your small couch and watch a movie. Heâs informed you that he has been starved of contact for a long while, and he basks in your touch. You enjoy it as well, and his warmth lulls you to sleep. When the two of you wake, you are covered in a blanket. Itâs soft and black, and not one you had seen before. It smelled slightly of fire.Â
The three of you had settled into a routine. On the days you went to work, you came home to a clean house, and a meal. It was all so domestic, and occasionally one or both of your demons would produce a human glamour and come with you into town. They always kept on sunglasses, though, because they couldnât change their eyes. You doubt the inhabitants of Talon Valley would mind. Siphorus had informed you that most of the people living here were some kind of supernatural being. As a witch, you fit right in.
So well, in fact, that you had befriended another witch already. She was much more confident in her abilities, and had already figured out a solution to Siphorus being stuck with you.Â
Coming back from a visit with her, you had mixed feelings. You had a solution, sure, but you had grown so fond of your demon. You didnât want to let him go, and already felt hollow just thinking about him departing. You creak the front door open while lost in thought and were unprepared for what you were seeing. Standing in shock, you take in the scene before you.
Through the doorway, you can see Elow on top of Siphorus. His head is thrown back, and high pitched moans leave him. You can make out the deep bass of Siphorus encouraging him as Elow bounces on his cock, thoroughly impaled. Siphous is leaning back on one set of hands, with the others on either side of Elowâs hips and face. Elowâs own hardness bobs between his thighs, long and thick. Itâs textured like the rest of him, but redder. You feel your own face get hot, and the gasp that leaves your lips is what finally catches your demonsâ attention.Â
Elow is embarrassed and wonât look at you, trying to hide behind a tangle of sooty arms. Siphorus just smirks at you, taking in your doe-eyed appearance. You feel as if your heartbeat is between your legs.Â
âIsnât our Elow so beautiful,â he draws out, running his hand along the other demonâs flank. Elow shudders, still fully seated, and you nod. âSo beautiful, so good for me. For us,â he purrs into Elowâs ear, his milky eyes still locked on yours. This time Elow actually moans, weather that be from the thickness spearing him open or the words alone, you are unsure. Siphorus beacons you closer, and you feel as though you are under a spell.
With a touch of your magic, the door is shut and locked. Your feet carry you closer to them, and Elow peaks at you, somehow both demure and debauched. He isnât much smaller than Siphorus, really, but he looks tiny like this. He whispers a âHi,â into your hand, kissing it gently. You return the sentiment, caressing his face. He squirms and whimpers, and you see his cock jump. âOh, honey,â you coo, and pull him in for a sweet kiss. One of Siphorusâs hands tangles in your hair, while the other of the set is on Elowâs head, encouraging you two. He encourages you vocally too, his pleased throaty moans making your kiss turn feverish.Â
âJoin us, master,â Siphorus implores you, a hand wandering down your thigh.
Behind the lust you feel for them, a sense of nervous insecurity rises when you go to take your clothes off. You pull off your outerwear, taking your time. Your demons must sense your hesitance, as they pull you between their intertwined forms, Elow at your back.
âShh master, just focus on my hands,â Elow tells you, ever so sweet. His hands move along your breasts, kneading the flesh there. One rises up, covering your throat. He doesnât apply any pressure, just holds his hand there. His thumb comes up to brush along your lips, and you take it into your mouth without a conscious thought, sucking and wrapping your tongue around it, an action that draws moans from both of your demons.Â
âDo not try to hide from us,â Siphorusâs voice is but an echoing growl, teeth pressing into your ear. âWe can smell you, master. The air is thick with your want, let us serve you.â From where you rest on his torso, you can feel his hips moving, along with Elowâs hardness pressing against your lower back. You whimper around the thumb in your mouth, eyes rolling to the back of your head.Â
Elow removes his hands, and you let out a pleading moan, not wanting them to stop.
âYou have to tell us, master. Tell us what you want, and itâs yours, please,â Elow says, his voice a breath of a whisper.
âYes, darling, just tell us,â Siphorus echoes the sentiment, and you feel dizzy with want.
âPlease,â you breath out, âPlease touch me. Take me,â you plead to them.Â
No sooner do the words leave your lips their hands wrap back around you. You push your butt back onto Elowâs pulsing cock, rolling against it. He whimpers out, and you can only imagine how full he must feel. You use your magic to take your clothes off, not wanting to break the contact with your lovers. Feeling them against your skin is worth any nervousness you may have been feeling. Siphorus captures your mouth in a kiss, and although you may be his master, it is clear who is in control. The press of his teeth to your lips has your hips jerking, and youâre sure they can both feel how wet you are perched on Siphorusâs muscular abdomen.Â
Siphorusâs hips are moving harder now, meeting Elowâs bouncing ass. A pair of Siphorusâs hands wrap around your hips and in one fluid motion, hovers you on top of his face. Your hands find his horns, steading yourself. He makes a loud, wounded noise at your grip, and Elow moans out at the particularly hard thrust that follows. You take that as a sign to loosen your hold, and pack his reaction away in the back of your mind for another day. You then look down and see Siphorusâs tongue, so very long and pink, seeking out your heat.Â
He suddenly growls, and flips you around so that youâre facing Elow, and his tongue presses into you. It stretches you and you feel it press against your walls, long enough that it can still curve to press to your clit. The sensations are overwhelming, and you cannot help but rock against them.
You get to watch Elow being fucked, and you meet his mouth in a frenzied kiss. Both of you are being held tight by Siphorusâs hands, being pleasured by him. The hands around Elow are thrusting him up and down, and the peek you get of Siphorusâs member has you clenching harder around his tongue. He laps up the wetness spilling from you as if he is starved, the noises coming from him sound as if he is tasting salvation. Elow acts much the same, drinking from your mouth as if it is the finest wine.Â
You feel all too much and not enough, and you wrap a hand around Elowâs cock. Itâs hot and heavy in your grip, and Elow turns to putty, begging.Â
âPlease donât stop, please master,â he whines, high in his throat. Incoherent noises keep coming, and you assure him you wonât stop, pressing yourself further onto Siphorus.Â
âNot gonna stop honey, wanna make you feel good. Such a sweet demon, arenât you? My sweet demon.â You praise him and his movements turn jerky. The noises leaving him become even more frantic and high pitched. He reaches a crescendo and spills into your hand, covering you in his thick white cum. You donât stop until he is pulling away from your hand, a whimpering mess convulsing on your other demon's cock. Your other demon, who is now redoubling his assault against your cunt, seems close as well. You watch him tense up and with an animalistic grunt, fill up Elow with his seed. His tongue is still fucking into you, and the visual he and Elow provide is all that is needed to push you over the edge, tensing and jerking away as your climax leaves you breathless.Â
The three of you pull yourselves apart, you considerably more out of breath than your demons, who are much quicker to recover. Elow is behind you while Siphorus leans upright against the couch, stretching out his many muscles and preening before you. You let your eyes rake over him, and you feel desire bubbling in your skin.Â
His nostrils flare, and his eyes dig into you even harder, predatory. You feel your heart pound and youâre sure he can smell your want, just as he said.Â
âOh, Lily, you think we are done with you?â Siphorus asks you, reaching over to tuck a sweat soaked strand of hair away from your face.Â
âI hope not,â you whisper out, ignoring how hot you feel your face getting. You gnaw on your lip, and feel Elow stretch his arms out. You lean into them, already feeling breathless.Â
âCâmere master, please? Can I have you this way?â He asks, tucking you to his front. One hand moves to rest on your throat while the other goes to your leg. You nod eagerly, letting him hoist your leg up as he nudges his member against your opening. He ruts against you before seating himself inside in one lazy thrust. All of your nerve endings are ablaze, and your hands wrap around his forearm, keeping his hand pressed against your neck. He keeps a slow pace, and molasses runs through your veins. The moans that leave you sound desperate, and you watch as Siphorus fists his cock, his other hands tweaking his nipples and moving up and down his body.Â
You can feel the magic he is putting off, and itâs as if his hands are touching you from where he is in front of you. He is content with watching this time, it seems.Â
âDeeper, Elow. Give it to her deeper.â Not just watching then, apparently. He is giving orders as well. You moan out as Elow follows his direction and presses deeper into you, an eager âYes'' leaving his lips. A phantom hand, courtesy of Siphorus, is circling your clit. The slow but persistent pleasure had you throbbing and jerking back into Elows arms, the two of you overstimulated together in the best of ways. More phantom hands ghost over you and go to Elow, who lets out a whorish moan at the feeling.Â
âGood boy, just like that,â Siphorus praises and nods.
You whimpered and met his milky gaze, âYou too darling, youâre such a good girl for us. Such a good little master, arenât you?â he asks, his smirk downright predatory.Â
His words pull a noise out of you that you didnât think you were capable of making. Between his words, phantom hands, and Elowâs deep movements massaging your inner walls, you donât last long. You feel yourself tense again, sparks flying through your veins as you milk the cock nestled deep inside you. Siphorus is still talking to the two of you, praising you though you canât make out the words. Elow finishes too, locking himself inside you as he fills you with his seed. He grunts and makes breathy sounds into your neck as he continues to fill you.The warmth of it has aftershocks rippling through you, and you lean your head back against his shoulder as the two of you enjoy your afterglow. He slips from you minutes later, and you feel his plentiful cum running down the inside of your thighs. You should feel a bit grossed out, but all you feel is sated and claimed. Â
Siphorus must have finished with you as well, since you feel tendrils of his magic cleaning you up. They run up and down your body, prompting you to further melt into them. Your eyes peek open and he is there, smiling and pressing his lips to your forehead. âShh, let me get us comfortable,â he tells you, before conjuring up a nest of blankets and cushions for you, all with a subtle fiery scent. You and Elow donât even have to move, all the better since you still very much feel boneless. If Elowâs soft and content noises are anything to go by, he feels the same. Siphorus nuzzles himself in, the three of you tangled together.Â
âMay I admit something, my dearests?â he asks us, answered only with a humming affirmative.
âI- Well, I didnât have to stay. Iâve been free to leave but I just really, really wanted to stay.â You had not heard him sound so vulnerable before, and you squeeze one of his hands. Youâre surprised, but not upset by the news. If anything, it lifts a weight off of your shoulders.
âPft, tell me something I did not already know,â Elow teases him, his eyes still closed and a smile on his face.Â
Siphorus sputters, taken aback, but it turns into hearty laughter.Â
âIâm glad you stayed,â you tell him, kissing him in your half - asleep state. Â
The blankets and content hum of magic in the air lull you to sleep, surrounded by your loves.

BnHA Chapter 294: A Half-Assed Escape
Previously on BnHA: Mirio was all âSURPRISE IâM BACK THANKS TO OUR RESIDENT SEVEN-YEAR-OLD WHO RECENTLY EARNED HER BACHELORâS OF BEING A TOTAL BADASS.â Kacchan was all, âyou know what, Dabiâs been trending long enough, time to remind the fandom what a real G looks like,â and he blasted his little bleeding body back into the fray and was all âFROM HERE ON OUT CALL ME DYNAMIGHT!!â Mirio was all, âAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... oh, youâre serious,â and Kacchan was all â!!â, and so thatâs the story of how my son got murdered twice in one day. Meanwhile in the Todoroki Drama Zone, Deku was all âSTOP MURDERING MY FRIENDâ and Dabi was all âTHATâS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESSâ and fandom had a whole big debate about Whether Or Not Dabi Trying To Murder Dekuâs Friends And Mentors Is Any Of Dekuâs Business, which went exactly how you think it went. Anyway, so then Deku yelled at Dabi, and Endeavor was all moved by his manly words and randomly went to go uppercut Machia in the chin. And, seeing as how the Momoserum finally chose that exact moment to kick in, Machia is now down for the count.
Today on BnHA: The Miriosquad handles the Nearly High End Noumus, freeing up Jeanist to jasphyxiate (okay that one doesnât really work so well) the rest of the League. Compress is all âTIME FOR THIS MILD-MANNERED SIDE CHARACTER VILLAIN TO SHINEâ, except that by âshineâ what he actually means is âuse his quirk to punch a literal hole right through his own ass to free himself.â The rest of the chapter is basically just a back and forth between him and Jeanist, with Jeanist trying to recapture him, and Compress repeatedly thwarting him by chopping more holes out of himself because HEâS FRESH OUT OF FUCKS, AND THE ONES AT THE STORE ARE ALL SOLD OUT, MOTHERFUCKERS. Anyway, so with Compress basically dying and all, Horikoshi is all âyou know what that meansâ, and delivers a freshly-baked villain flashback revealing that Compress is a descendant of Harima Ouji, a.k.a. the Peerless Thief, a.k.a. some famous guy whom Gentle mentioned this one time for like two seconds back in the day. The chapter ends with Compress finally demasking himself and dumping Tomura back onto the ground, a.k.a. The Worst Possible Place For Tomura To Be. ( â˘ďšâ˘)
WHY IS CRUST HERE YOUâRE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD
-- OH WAIT, SHIT. OH
AIZAWAAAA youâre alive and receiving medical help thank GOD. HOW MANY EYES DO YOU HAVE. AND MIRKO!! HOW MANY LIMBS DO YOU HAVE, OMG
so is this Aizawa dreaming about Crustâs final moments, then?? jesus. with All Due Respect to Crustâs memory, does Aizawa not already have enough misplaced guilt on his conscience as it is?? ânope, weâre gonna keep piling it on. thatâs all he is now. three limbs, an indeterminate number of eyes, sexy hair, and Guiltâ well shit
motherfucker yâall really out here placing an oxygen mask on Gran Torinoâs corpse. fucking shounen characters. each one comes with a lifetime warranty
DAMN YOU HORIKOSHI WHY DO YOU KEEP SHOWING THESE CLOSE-UPS OF HAWKSâS UNCONSCIOUS FACE ALL WHUMPED OUT AND EXHAUSTED. HOW MUCH MORE OF THIS ARE WE GOING TO GET. ARE YOU PLANNING ON KILLING ME WITH THE UPCOMING CONVALESCENCE ARC, BECAUSE IF SO, AT LEAST HAVE THE DECENCY TO TELL ME AHEAD OF TIME SO I CAN MAKE A WILL
for a moment I considered going back and checking my previous recaps to count how many times Iâve already made a joke about Dabiâs fire incinerating Hawksâs wings but not touching so much as a hair on his five oâclock shadow, so that I could calculate whether or not I could possibly get away with making that same joke one more time. but then I realized I could just do it in this kind of roundabout way Iâm doing right now instead. so there you have it
FFFFFFFMT LADY AND MIDNIGHT NOOOOO
PLEASE BE ALIVE. PLEASE RESPECT THE SIGN ON THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING. THE ONE THAT SAYS âNO LADY CHARACTERS ALLOWED TO DIEâ, WITH THE FINE PRINT AT THE BOTTOM âAT LEAST NOT UNTIL HORIKOSHI GIVES US LIKE TWENTY-SIX MORE OF THEM FIRST IF THATâS THE WAY HE WANTS TO PLAY IT.â ITâS A GOOD SIGN, PLEASE RESPECT ITS WISHES!!
so anyway though, Jeanist is giving a speech about how god knows how many people all worked together to bring Machia down. and now RHA is getting in on those fabric puns too, I see. âA SINGLE STRAND MAY BE THIN BUT TOGETHER THEY FORM A STRONG ROPEâ oh so you think you guys are funny eh? Iâm a frayed knot
MEANWHILE EXCUSE ME BUT WHY ARE YOU FUCKING CRYING BLOOD, HOLY SHIT
fffffff. so much for him taking over as the Number One once all this is over. so letâs just recap real quick, because Horikoshi has long since made it clear that one of his plot goals for this arc is to wipe out every single member of the Billboard Top Ten. so how we doin?
Endeavor - was just figuratively eviscerated in front of the entire nation by his homicidal zombiepunk son. also burnt half to death and possibly down a lung. will almost certainly be forced to retire after this one way or the other
Hawks - lying prettily in a medical tent. wings status: gone. hair status: still perfect
Jeanist - WELL I THOUGHT HE WAS FINE BUT APPARENTLY HEâS OUT HERE DYING, JESUS CHRIST
Edgeshot - MIA, last seen fighting Re-Destro. I really want him to have kicked RDâs ass because fuck that guy, but realistically they probably fought to a draw at best
Mirko - alive but in critical condition and missing something like 1.5 limbs
Crust - dead, currently haunting Aizawaâs traumatized dreams. now heâs gonna be triggered the rest of his life by people giving him the thumbs up, THANKS A LOT
Kamui Woods - was set on fire which is His Weakness. thoughts and prayers
Wash - last seen floating hospital patients to safety as Tomuraâs wave of decay descended towards him. probably dead ffff
Old Man Samurai - havenât seen this fucker in a hot minute, who even knows where heâs wandered off to
Ryuukyuu - currently being treated for her wounds, looked pretty bad off. but itâs hard to tell how hurt she is since most of the injuries were acquired in her transformed state. SHE BETTER GET WELL SOON
anyways, so yeah. so much for the top ten. guess thatâs another reason Horikoshi brought Mirio back now, huh
so thereâs a big panel of everyone fighting the Noumu while Machia lies there all âblurgh.â good riddance my dude. it took like twenty chapters and a hundred people to stop this guy so I really fucking hope he stays down. youâve had your fun
anyway so Jeanist is sending another steel thread towards Dabi! and heâs all âjust a bit more!!â fklklj this is gonna go real well isnât it
meanwhile Mirioâs fighting a Nearly High End with all of these weird rock formations jutting out of its skin. go on and kick his ass then, Mirio
âeach of these guys is probably just as strong as the Noumu from Kyuushuuâ hold on I thought Ujiko or Tomura or someone said that wasnât the case? not that Mirio would know I suppose. anyways letâs just hope heâs wrong cuz if not these kids are probably screwed
kLSDKFHLSKHGLKLK OH MY GODDDD
IIDA FUCKING TENYA YOUâRE A PEACH. THINKS THE NAME IS OUTRAGEOUS, CHECK. USES IT ANYWAY, CHECK. âJUST BECAUSE I DONâT UNDERSTAND DOESNâT MEAN I CANâT BE SUPPORTIVE.â WHAT A CLASS ACT
AND KACCHAN IS RESPONDING WITH AS MUCH DIGNITY AS HE CAN MUSTER
WOW, SON. ITâS ALMOST AS THOUGH YOU HAVE A HOLE IN YOUR TORSO, OR SOMETHING!! although listen up, real talk, the fact that Kacchan of all people canât muster the energy to yell at someone questioning his ability to kick ass is HIGHKEY troubling and we may be in need of an intervention here soon :/
now Jeanist is finally turning his attention to the League! was... was it not already on the League. omg
ACTUAL SCREAMING AHHHHHH FUCK FUCKLK LK AHHLKHKFFFF
hey so um. what the actual fucked up hell. my soul left my body. imagine if you saw the reflection of this panel on your bedroom window. you would never sleep again
OKAY RHA TRANSLATORS ARE YOU HAVING YOURSELF A LAUGH AGAIN
THIS CANNOT BE WHAT HEâS ACTUALLY SAYING RIGHT. BUT ITâS RIGHT IN THAT UNCANNY VALLEY OF NOT BEING QUITE SURE, THOUGH... (ăďžĐ´ďž)
(ETA: just a next-day clarification here, apparently my sleep-deprived ADHD word-skipping brain completely skipped right over the âaâ in that last panel, so what I read was, âand Shigarakiâs limp noodle.â so yeah, the moral of this story is always read the speech bubble carefully before you start making running jokes throughout the rest of your post, folks.)
oh wow heâs really freaking out lmao
to be fair though, Iâd argue that Dabi has gotten pre-tty close at this point :â) thrilled for him, really I am
but anyway, well then figure something out you big dramatic robot-armed fiend. didnât you just say you could touch your own ass? can you not just Compress yourself to break free?? does it not work on you? or would you be stuck afterwards lol
(ETA: I was picturing him compressing his entire body at once, not just chunks of it. ghhhlkh.)
um
holy shit Jeanist. are you stupidly trying to cut off their air, or are you going for more of a sleeper hold (jleeper hold??) thing instead. the latter would be way smarter and faster and probably safer as well just saying
but unless Spinner is just being super dramatic, it sure looks like heâs fucking strangling them djslkjlk. this will certainly cement his popularity among the villain stans. good thing youâre not running for office any time soon bud
anyway so I have no idea what these guys are trying to do now. what is this
do you even have till the count of 5 at this rate. I mean
OH MY GOODNESS
HEâS REALLY FUCKING DOING IT!! HEâS COMPRESSING HIS BUTT!! OMFG. TOMURA HIDE YOUR NOODLE!!!
WHAT THE FUCK
DID YOU COMPRESS A PIECE OF YOUR OWN ASS. FUCKING WHAT. PUT THIS MANâS PICTURE IN THE DICTIONARY NEXT TO THE WORD âLOYALTYâ, HOLY CRAP
HOLY SHITÂ COMPRESS
âHOLY SHIT DID THAT GUY JUST PUNCH A HOLE THROUGH HIS OWN ASS IN ORDER TO SAVE HIS VILLAIN PALS. FUCK IT, HE DESERVES TO ESCAPEâ
jeez, talk about... A HALF-ASSED ESCAPE ATTEMPT :D :D :D hahaha. but real talk though, Horikoshi has clearly never tried to leap twelve feet straight up in the air multiple times in succession with only half his glutes though. everyone, I regret to inform you that this panel right here on the left may be slightly unrealistic
also where the hell is he going to go?? did you pack a jetpack away in one of those little marbles sir. and what about Dabi?? and Skeptic too, I guess, but we donât really care about Skeptic
(ETA: at this point I had to stop reading for about two hours because I had to go out and take care of something; thatâs also why this is being posted later than usual lol. anyways so where were we.)
oh my lord
the existence of a translatorâs note here implies that the earlier line about Compress being able to reach Tomuraâs junk was not, in fact, ad-libbed. hmm. hmmmmmmmm
anyway so now heâs grabbing Compress again because OF COURSE HE IS, so now weâre right back to square one! except now Tomura and Spinner are secured inside of little marbles, and presumably Compress is the only one who can release them
oh nevermind heâs just maiming himself again instead, SHEESH
Skeptic a man is dying please have some goddamn respect
so, uh. is he gonna die, though??
I really canât tell wtf is going on here, this is the most confusing the art has been in a while. Horikoshi put all of his spoons into that creepyass close-up panel earlier, that bastard
OMG WHAT ARE YOU SERIOUS
DONâT FUCKING TELL ME THE âCOMPRESS IS RELATED TO THIS THIEF GUY FROM OLDEN TIMESâ THEORY IS ACTUALLY TRUE WHAAAAAAT. OH SHIT
so apparently Harima was a Robin Hood type guy who stole from... heroes?? wtf. are heroes the 1% in this scenario. yâall didnât have any Fortune 500 CEOs to steal from?
THATâS THE BLOOD THAT FLOWS THROUGH YOU, OH SHIT. and in a related oh shit, the fact that we are getting a Compress flashback now of all times doesnât bode super well for him. ffff
MEANWHILE THE TODOROKIS ARE STILL TODOROKI-ING
listen here boy if you touch one freaking hair on Shoutoâs candy cane head I swear to god --
WHAT DID I FUCKING SAY!!!
SHOUTO NOOOOOO. WTF YOUâRE LITERALLY THE ONE GUY WHOSE WEAKNESS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FIRE. DABI YOU SHIT, YOU BETTER WATCH YOURSELF!! IâM PRINTING OUT A COPY OF THAT COMPRESS PANEL!!! KEEP AN EYE OUT ON THAT BEDROOM WINDOW YOU PUNK!!!
SO NOW POOR SHOUTO IS UNCONSCIOUS AND FALLING!! SOMEONE SAVE HIM!! WHO CATCHES THE CATCHER
COMPRESS LITERALLY HOW ARE YOU STILL ALIVE RIGHT NOW, WHAT IS HAPPENING
PLEASE DONâT CALL TOMURA LEADER OF THE âPLFâ YOU KNOW I CANâT TAKE IT SERIOUSLY WHEN YOU DO THAT. ARE YOU DYING. ARE YOU JUST A FUCKING HEAD NOW WTF
(ETA: âmasks are removable, makesteâ you know what itâs been a long day okay lmao. or I suppose Compress is really the one who is lmao.)
GASPPPPPP
okay. okay. looooool okay then
WHY WERE YOU COVERING THIS SEXY MOP OF HAIR UNDER THAT HOOD YOU TOOL. IT WOULD HAVE LOOKED SO GOOD WITH THE TOP HAT. IâM SO MAD AT YOU RIGHT NOW
as if it wasnât enough for him to demask himself, he also had to get all shirtless and then do this weird attempt at a sexypose too huh
hard to say exactly how much of his torso is currently missing, but safe to say thatâs proooooooobably not good. :///// fuck
on the other hand, Kacchan also has a torso hole and heâs still flying around like he just drank a dozen red bulls, so
this man lost his ass and heâs still out here monologuing like itâs the last two minutes of The Prestige. one might say he is monologuing his ass off
so he let Spinner and Tomura free, but is Dabi still trapped in his marble?? wasnât he all on fire and stuff?? hopefully he can still turn off his quirk in there because if not thatâs a pretty fucked up way to die. somewhere out there Snatchâs ghost is all âYEAH IâLL SAY.â oh how the turntables
last but not least, sooooooo. Tomura. back on the ground. thatâs. um. ...shiiiiiiiit
#bnha 294#mr. compress#...and actually that's pretty much it lol#bnha#boku no hero academia#bnha spoilers#mha spoilers#bnha manga spoilers#makeste reads bnha#sorry this is up later than usual (and mostly unedited as well)#just one of those days

Garou and the futility of heroism
.With much thanks to @the-nysh for the conversation. I thought of making this longer and more detailed, but I know myself: itâll turn into one of those drafts that hangs around for years.
I've recently been reading the Epic of Gilgamesh as a part of reducing my terrible ignorance of the foundations of Western literature. Cracking good yarn, highly recommended, but Iâm not here to talk literature. The latter half of the story is dominated by Gilgameshâs struggle against the idea that he was inevitably going to die.
Where this relates to Garou is not that heâs railing against the inevitability of death and the reality that everything built up over a life will crumble to dust. What Garou is struggling against is the seeming futility of heroism.
His specific approach is all sorts of bad, but the reality he's struggling against is something brought up repeatedly in One-Punch Man. One of the *big* themes in One-Punch Man is critically examining what a hero is actually good *for*. No matter how diligent a hero is, no matter how strong they are, the world's evils do not disappear.Â
It's very outrageous and painful to acknowledge how small and fleeting one's efforts are in the grand scheme of things.Â
The moment we get a look into Saitamaâs thoughts, itâs the very first thing he leads with. Literally the very first sentence of his thinking.
Saitama might be the strongest hero ever, able to defeat anything in one punch. Not only has the world not become a better place as a result of his actions, but the very neighbourhood he lives in has become depopulated as itâs become too dangerous to live there. In its own way, having birdsong be the loudest sound in the morning is its own rebuke to Saitamaâs ambitions of helping people.
Watchdogman is the most diligent hero ever, with a perfect monster elimination record. And yet, City Q is as monster-infested as ever. Should anything happen to him, it will be as if he never existed for all the good his previous efforts will have done its inhabitants.
however diligently he sits, the pedestal heâs on will crumble the moment he cannot do his job any longer.
And thatâs just talking about monsters. There are a lot of very bad people in OPM world and not just of the cackling mad scientist variety, although itâs got plenty of those too.
The world of One-Punch Man also has evils driven by factors that are far too big for any hero by their action to stop. Problems best addressed at the political or economic level arenât going to be solved with a punch.
Even when the evil appears to be tied up with a single person, like the Ninja Village was established by That Man, getting rid of them doesnât necessarily change affairs. The Village stole the freedoms and lives of boys for a good fifteen years after Blast defeated That Man. It was still too profitable to *not* do.
when you think about it, crime must really pay in One-Punch Man!
Even when you say youâre going to do something simple and heroic, like save a single child from the clutches of a monster... what do you mean by âsavedâ, exactly? How brutally difficult it is to save even a single person, how easily it is that your best efforts to be turned to naught by an adverse event, like springing a rabbit from a trap only to have it swooped up by a hawk, is fully on display this arc.Â
so many heroesâ efforts and yet Waganma went almost nowhere...truly like fetching water out of a river with a basket!
Other than Saitama, we see so many other heroes struggle with the reality of how little they can change things in the long term. Very notable is the conversation that Snek has with Suiryu, where Suiryu challenges Snek to justify why he bothers being a hero at all? âNo matter how hard you try, itâs just drops of water on burning rocks,â Suiryu says, something done for self-satisfaction rather than because it actually creates meaningful change.  Snekâs thoughts mirror Suiryuâs as he considers whether heroes are actually necessary at all.
Letâs bring it back to Garou. Garouâs Very Bad No Good Plan to Avoid Heroic Heartbreak he laid out in chapter 41.  Quite simply, heroes always have to wait for bad things to happen and then react to punish the evildoers and/or save people.Â
I love how long this guy is...um, sorry I was supposed to be typing something insightful here
But what if it was possible to take the initiative instead, like a monster does? What if people could stop wanting to be bad and monsters could stop wanting to attack people? Thatâs where the Human Monster was born, the quest to create a persona so strong that no one could oppose it, and so senselessly evil that no one dared to do anything that attracted its attention.
punishing the good and evil alike, donât make him come your way if you know whatâs good for you.
I see a lot of readers read superficially, misunderstand and think Garou is punishing heroes in some way. That heroes are bad in some way. Nothing like that: he attacks heroes because theyâre good and devote their lives to protecting people. After all, only a total monster would do that. Also, if even the strongest heroes arenât safe, what hope have the regular people of this world?
All throughout the arc, that Garou doesnât actually want to be a monster at heart is clear to every actual monster. Itâs clear to us as we see his interactions with Tareo. Itâs clear to him himself as he tries to steel himself to take a life just to prove to himself that he can (thankfully itâs Saitama he tries to kill).Â
Itâs what makes Saitamaâs bullshit-cutting words as cutting as they are.  Ultimately, his trying to scare the world into being good is his way of running away from the tough, heart-breaking work of being a hero.
there is a crazy confidence a hero needs to embody in order to step up, as if by doing so they can do something
The pathos that we can empathise with is that itâs hard to look on a world as messed up as theirs is and not feel that surely, surely thereâs something more that one can do. Garouâs struggle is absolutely legitimate.  However... Iâm going to let the however hang a moment...
Itâs childish thinking to frame heroism in terms of strength and itâs not much better to frame it in terms of being of exceptional virtuousness. What a hero is, according to ONE, is someone who can look honestly at the cruelty and randomness of the world, who can acknowledge frankly the fleeting nature of any good they can do, feel the pain of this reality fully.  And then choose to reach a hand out to help anyway. Â
In a world where feeling helpless in the face of impossibly large and complex problems feels inevitable, cynicism is too ready a refuge, and just looking out for yourself is common sense, the mere act of reaching that hand out is an act of courage.
not with illusions of good triumphing over evil, but the dogged determination to do the right thing even if the world burns down. Thatâs what being a hero is about.
However...
...the way Garou worked out his inner conflict was not legitimate. He picked the worst possible way at the worst possible time to wrestle with it. Which I think goes to a second theme: that your feelings may be valid.  But that does not mean that every action that follows from those feelings is valid. Garou hurt a lot of good people and impeded their vital work at a time the world could ill-afford it.
One of the joys of fiction is that not only do characters act for reasons that make sense, but we get to hear and understand *why*. And at the same time, the external actions they take on the world persist. Iâm very happy too that ONE isnât glossing over the consequences of Garouâs actions. Too many readers pick one or the other and lose half the joy.  Â
Thankfully, ONE isnât a half-ass.
It doesnât become okay for the heroes that Garou attacked that they were assaulted. It doesnât become okay for the world that so many people were needlessly deprived of heroes when they needed them most. And it isnât okay for Garou that heâs made an outlaw of himself as a result of his actions.  The ramifications on both personal and societal are going to be explored for the individuals involved. I bless ONE for his conscientiousness and for creating so many excellent characters that make the enterprise worth the candle.
What kind of hero Garou will decide to be and how heâll make it work in practice, ah that weâre waiting to see.
Coda:
Of course, thatâs not the whole story. Thereâs one other part. Occasionally, by being the right person willing and able to step up in the right way at the right time, a hero can change *everything*.
#OPM#meta#Garou#heroes#for a story that is a parody the thoroughness with which it unpicks heroism is very serious#long#yes I said I wasn't going to run long but I have so much more I want to say#which I guess will put people who came for the luls off but there you go#making peace with what one can do as an individual is a very real problem that's both topical and timeless#making peace that nothing lasts forever not even one's achievements is another#finding meaning and a way forward in this impermanent life is a little triumph

letâs talk about minecraft diaries rebirth.
and why itâs literally amazing. (warning: this will contain spoilers. lots of them. also, long post ahead.)
i think a lot of people hate mcdr because they were expecting a remake; but the point of rebirth is for jess to rewrite it. it wasn't supposed to be exactly the same.
honestly i went into mcdr with a closed mind. as an og mcd fan, i thought that this was going to suck ass and that i'd rant about how bad it was to my friends later. but actually watching it, i just... couldn't help but immediately fall in love with it.
ik im probably the only motherfucker that likes mcdr, but honestly how could i not? for one, garroth and zenix actually have personalities at the beginning. AND; the villagers? actually amazing. donna made me smile, visher made me laugh and cry, brendan was just bein as good as ever. like... i even didn't despise emmalyn with every ounce of my soul like i usually do?? the characterizations of them were GOOD, man.
and honestly, aphmau like--the way she spoke, her whole thing. it was reallyyy well done in my opinion. she was oblivious to things, but it wasn't overdone and wasn't done in a way to make her annoying. she's a very appealing character in mcdr, a main protagonist i do not mind following along with. her dynamics to the characters are really cool and all very unique. gonna cut it here so i donât clog yâallâs feed cuz i got a lot to say :)
the early use of aphmauâs powers was actually pretty cool as well, it also really showed how clueless aphmau really was to everything going on around her. AND UH, THE FACT THAT SHE THOUGHT THAT GARROTH FELT FAMILIAR? GOLDEN. absolutely golden.
AND GENE OH BOY, the early introduction of gene? ik a lot of people are upset about it, but god DAMN i love it so much. his role in the story is very important in original, and i cannot express how much joy this brought me learning that he was actually getting the proper attention for it. and the fact that gene and aphmau were working together?? i mean ik gene was just trying to use her to get back to the "shadow abyss" (pretty pog replacement for the nether, gg) but god DAMN i loved every moment of it. i found their dynamic to be pretty fuckin funny to be honest, would absolutely love to see more of it.
i might be biased considering gene is one of my absolute favorite characters, but i honestly think that introducing gene this early on in the story was a good move. again, he's literally the right-hand man to the shadow lord. it makes you really wonder why he didn't have as much of an important role in season 1 or even 2 of the original mcd plotline. also, we get some of that good-ol-fashioned exposition with seeing early on how vylad and gene interact. vyladâs at a very strange point in the story right now; his motives are unclear, even to the side heâs âsupposedâ to be taking (aka, a shadow knight.) another early introduction to a character is zane! this, my friends, is good. really good. iâd say that zane is the main antagonist of season 1 in the original series--and he wasnât even introduced until like, episode 50. itâs not necessarily a bad thing, but him being introduced this early on really gives the audience a better understanding of what threats are out there and what our protagonist will have to encounter in the future. in the original series, thereâs not much explanation as to why lords are disappearing/dying left and right--and while yes, that was supposed to be the mystery of it, having some of that early information is a better move in terms of writing.Â
AND IVAN?? BEING A PART OF THE JURY OF NINE?? I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR ANYTHING MORE LIKE GOD DAMN that was a very pleasant surprise i'll just say that, thank you jess :)
and no i did not loop the 4 minutes of screentime laurance got in that one episode haha who would do that i would never do that anyways
SPEAKING of laurance, im so glad jess actually wrote him in this early :) she totally could have just waited for the first time aphmau visits meteli and meets him there, but no! she put him in an early episode. i dont even care if she did it just to shut up the fans about laurance but man that made me so happy seeing him, even if it was only for a bit.
okay i kinda wanna go over the guards real fast firstly; garroth. ignoring how weird the helmet showing emotions is, i really like how garroth is portrayed. he's under a lot of pressure because the village is putting a lot of the blame on him for malik's death, and he's trying his hardest to keep things running. the fact that garroth utterly refused the to take up the position of lord and even got a little snappy about it was actually really cool to see as well. and while he doesnât have that same âreserved, quiet, observantâ feel as the original mcd version of him had, this version of garroth is absolutely awesome. heâs more direct and blunt, is significantly more sarcastic, and isnât as stiff or as much as a pushover as he is in the original. he even has a sense of humour. also, no homo, but heâs kinda adorable. plus, the desperation that he goes through during the whole thing is just--itâs really cool to see how hard heâs trying to prove himself and help the village. my rating for mcdr garroth? 9/10. the helmet... the helmet is the main thing throwin me off, i canât lie. next, zenix. oh BOY do i have a lot to say about this man. first of all, his and garrothâs dynamic is incredible. when i saw how the interacted with each other, my first thought was: father and son. zenix has this immaturity to him that is so fucking fun and interesting to watch, and seeing how garroth scolds him is so fuckin good man. and! seeing how he interacts with the rest of the village... honestly, if jess ever picks this story up again, i would probably cry when zenix (literally) backstabs garroth. HELL, i hope thatâs something that still happens, itâd be heartbreaking to witness this character that weâve come to love hurting his mentor, the man who took him in. heâs just a really good character all in all, and much more appealing than the original mcd zenix. ...except season 3 zenix. no zenix can be better than that one. either way, zenix is amazing written to be the comic relief and heâs just an all-out lovable character in this series. finally, dale and brian. yes iâm going to group them up because thereâs not much to say regarding them, but i do want to address them. for starters, we have brian; whoâs already 16 when the story starts. good on jess for doing that, because in the original aphmau watched brian be born and age INCREDIBLY quick, haha. THOUGH i do feel like thereâs a slight connection lost there--one of the hardest things about brianâs betrayal in the original series in the fact that we watched him grow up in phoenix drop. we were there from the moment he was born, to the second he betrayed phoenix drop. BUT OF COURSE, this version is a lot more realistic, so itâs understandable. i just think that if itâs brian whoâll be betraying phoenix drop again (if it even goes down that same route), it wonât hit as hard unless jess really takes the time to grow the connection between brian and aphmau. as for dale; gotta admit, love it. and like, i think one of the main things about how good of a call it was to make him a drunkard from the beginning is considering how much the village is struggling. the fact that the second-in-command is literally drunk all of the time really conveys the message of, âyeah. this village needs help.â plus, heâs another good comic relief character. i loved seeing molly and daleâs relationship too, it was very funny. PLUS. we were blessed with a well scene, in which aphmau had to help villagers out of the well. i donât know about you guys, but that was one of my favorite nods to the original series. i cannot thank jess enough for that, there was a smile on my face the entire time. another amazing thing--visherâs character. instead of just being introduced to this quirky lil merchant who only had one or two interactions with aphmau like in the first one, we got to sit there and really get a feel for someone worth remembering and worth mourning over. we had a reason to be sad over his death, it wasnât just some npc getting blown up suddenly. this was different, and this hurt. one of the major things that i hope is to come out of this is for jess to fix the major mistakes she had when writing the first series. sheâd expressed how unhappy she was with some of the decisions she made, and iâm glad that sheâs getting that second chance to undo the things she didnât like. this series also gives her a second chance to really, really dig into characters and their motives. like, gimme laurance backstory in better detail. or like, garroth and zaneâs relationship from back when they were kids? or how vylad died and who killed him? etc etc. sheâs already done an excellent job so far, and i canât wait to see where this goes. that is, if she ever continues it. god, i wish there were more episodes so that i could seriously let you guys know how beautiful of a series this is. thereâs so much i want to say about rebirth, but i think iâll stop here. i might say some more shit about it later, but if thereâs anything iâd want you to take away from this, itâs: give minecraft diaries rebirth a chance. thereâs a lot of potential, and this is a chance for jess to really change things for the better! ... but again, that is if this ever is continued.Â

Okay so first off, I love bears! đ theyâre so cute! I would have one as a pet if I could. How do you think the pillarmen would react to their s/o finding a bear and immediately becoming friends with it? Doesnât matter that itâs literally a wild animal. It saw s/o and was like âthis is my friend nowâ and it follows her everywhere. But the bear is âsubmissiveâ to her. It doesnât attack at all and does that thing where it shows itâs belly to her all the time. The bear likes the pillar men, but not as much as it loves s/o.
Ahhh! My dear Anon, this is is such a sweet idea! đĽ°đĽ°đĽ° I have the very same feelings about keeping a Fox as a Pet ⤠I very much would if I could! đ
This started out as a few simple headcanons buuuuut~... đ
I got carried away and turned it into a full fic! đđ Please âbearâ with me and enjoy! đťđťđť
The Pillarmenâs s/o brings Home a Bear... (A bit of a long fic; Under the cut for length!)
(Iâll stop making bear puns from this point on, I swear! I just couldnât pass up the chance to use this picture. in any case... Please do not attempt anything that your read here with a real life Bear or any woodland creature that is dangerous for that matter! If you happen to find a lost little Bear in your travels, do the responsible thing and contact a forestry! ~FunBun)
"What," Your head snapped up as someone spoke from behind; your eyes trailing up a most familiar muscular torso to eventually meet the disapproving gaze of Kars looming over you. The Pillarman's eyes were wide and his face unreadable, "is that?"
There you were, sitting on the front porch which was not an abnormal occurrence as this was your house and you did as you pleased...
Except for, of course, the fact that you were cradling a LIVING BABY BEAR in your lap and hand-feeding it a peanut butter sandwich!
"...A Friend." You said after a long moment, blinking up at the behemoth of a man. The Cub in your arms grasped at your hand with two huge chubby-toed paws as you pushed the last chunky bit of sandwich into its awaiting mouth; happily chewing away as if it didn't have a bother in the world.
Kars let out a long sigh, his barreled chest heaving as he reached up to pinch the space between his painted eyes with a forefinger and thumb.
"Why?" He questioned.
It was really the only thing he could say in that moment as thousands of questions rolled through his head like flotsam and jetsam. The Pillarmen struggled to keep a hold on himself, trying to give you the benefit of the doubt first before giving you the scolding he so wanted to.
He and the others knew very well you loved animals, which pleased the Pillarmen as they were Men who valued nature and precious life; Kars was no exception. They were most especially aware of your specific fixation on Bears but Kars never so much as gave the love for the creature a second thought.
However, right now, while you held a living Bear in your lap he was beginning to wish he had thought to tell you not to do something as foolish as take one in.
"Hey! I didn't do anything!" You defended yourself, allowing the Bear Cub you cradled to lick the remnants of the gooey sandwich from your fingers. You know exactly what he was thinking; he thought you deliberately went out and took the Bear!
Really, you hadn't done anything! Well... not this time anyways.
It all started when you had gone out for your morning walk in the woods, you happened to enjoy the crisp Spring air this time of year and it was a good way to get out of the house for a bit and away from the noise of the Four Pillarmen you adored that were living with you.
It was only when you were halfway down your usual route when you realized there was a little black Bear Cub following right behind you.
At first, you had feared the worst. Normally where there was a baby, there was a Mother not very far behind and despite your love for Bears you REALLY didn't want to have an encounter an angry Mother Bear that was searching for her lost baby and happened to think you were the one that took it. You did your best to avoid the baby Bear, walking fast and pretending not to notice it in hopes that it would simply give up tailing you eventually and go on its own way back to where it came from, despite the tugging of your heartstrings.
After some time of attempted avoid and evade the Cub didn't leave your side, ambling close at your heals and beginning to cry out for your attention. It became obvious to you it was all alone and even more obvious that it was hungry; as soon as it saw you it thought to remedy both those things.
Always having a big heart, you just couldn't bring yourself to leave the poor thing all alone out in the woods; especially not when it was clinging to your leg and looking up at you with those big honeyed eyes pleadingly...
You weren't supposed to get caught. You had planned to keep him a secret for at least a little while.
You had lead the baby back to the house and left it outside to its own devices on the doorstep for just a moment. Meanwhile you slipped into the kitchen to make, not one, but two peanut butter sandwiches to feed it. You really didn't have anything else to give it, you hadn't been expecting to feed a hungry little Bear anytime soon and there was nothing in it that would hurt the Cub anyways as it was mostly protein.
Your early return from your walk had gone unnoticed by the others (at least at first).
Thankfully, Santana hadn't been in the kitchen raiding the fridge like he normally did this time of morning and had been in the Livingroom with Esidisi instead, too invested in the video game they were playing to hear you come in.
Wamuu was out back chopping up more firewood to burn, as the nights were still very cold; the Warrior too far away to hear you and unable to see you with the house in the way.
Kars was supposed to be up in his study, up to his elbows in papers and practically dead to the world but of course (just when you wanted him to be working for once) he wasn't.
Somehow, he just always knew when something was amiss.
"Peanut followed me here," you explained, peering down at the squirming black fuzz ball in your lap that was still happily licking the peanut butter from its chops.
Kars clicked his tongue, "Peanut?"
He seemed even more displeased you had already named it; if you named something, it became hard to lose it. That was a rule many people followed through ancient times.
You let out a shaky laugh, ignoring the chunky paws inarticulately grasping at your clothes as a little pink tongue darted out from a tiny chestnut muzzle, dampening the glistening black button at the very tip.
Peanut was giving you a thorough sniff, making sure that he had consumed all of the delicious food you had brought him and that he hadn't missed a single morsel.
"It fits." You told him, smiling pathetically as you shrugged your shoulders.
Ruby eyes drifted down to the little creature squirming in your lap for more than a beat before he let out another sigh; this time it didn't sound as stern and disapproving as the first but it still sent a shiver down your spine. His lips pulled into a sympathetic frown as he closed the distance between you two, crouching at your side.
"Dear one," he spoke, using the tone he typically reserved for when he was trying to comfort you or give you some advice. "We cannot keep Peanut."
Immediately, you felt your heart quiver at his words; the pulse of the muscle stopped all together as you looked up at him. His eyes, normally the epitome of inhuman and predatory, now softened.
You knew very well he would have this talk with you, albeit much sooner than you anticipated originally, but it didn't change the fact it was making your heart clench painfully in your chest.
"Why?" You questioned. Now it was all you could really say in that moment as everything else that tried to come out got jumbled up in your throat.
You really didn't need to ask such a question however, as you already knew the answer.
"My sunshine, he's a wild Animal; a predator. He may be a small creature now but Cubs like Peanut grow very quickly indeed." He explained gently, wrapping one muscular arm around you. "And as he grows, his appetite will grow; you won't be able to feed him simple sandwiches forever."
Your lips scrunched up as you peered down at the now quiescent black ball of fuzz cradled in your arms. Peanut, his belly now full and all the peanut butter thoroughly cleaned from his paws and face, had closed his eyes and was slowly falling down into a most comfortable mid-morning nap.
He was so cute; so damn cute you wanted to cry. A hand absentmindedly reached up to grasp one of his paws, your thumb tracing over the squishy pads of his feet and feeling the sharp little claws sprouting from the chubby toes like thorns from a rose.
All your life you loved Bears, no matter the kind; Panda Bears, Koala Bears, Grizzly Bears, Sun Bears, Polar Bears, even Black Bears like Peanut... and now here you were, holding one in your very own arms! Hugging it close to your body like one would an everyday Teddy Bear! A real life Bear had just waddled up to you in the forest, clinging to you as if appointing you as its new Mother and caregiver, cuddling in your arms like a loving pet and cooing as you fed it an icky-sticky delight.
It was a dream come true... and now Kars was asking you to wake up and cast it aside.
"But--... But--..." the quivering of your lip made it hard to find a foothold in this dispute.
"And there is also the matter of his behavior." Kars continued softly, one massive palm gently rubbing up and down your back as he spoke. "Bears can grow to be very territorial and temperamental creatures. Their maximum strength can out lift 10 Men and their maximum speed is faster than any vehicle you can drive."
By now your eyes were watering, the fuzzy spot in your arms no longer seemed so very fuzzy as the world around you blurred behind tears.
Kars, of course, was making sense as he always did and you didn't like it one bit.
The living God's frown only deepened as the glistening of the water pooling in your eyes caught his. Truly, he hated to see you cry. Seeing tears in your eyes was something that made him weak in places he never felt such weakness prior to falling in love with you... but your safety was in jeopardy; and that was something he, nor the other Pillarmen who loved you and dotted on you, didn't want to risk over one creature.
"We have to put him back where he belongs." He said; though his words still carried that softness it was undoubtedly an order not to be refused.
"Oh Kars," you sniffed, your nose crinkling as tears began to fall. "I can't do it!"
You turned more fully towards him, presenting the sleepy Cub; practically thrusting him into the Pillarman's arms.
"Just look at him!" You cried. "He's so small and he's all alone! I don't know what happened to his Mother but she's gone and... and..."
One massive hand found your cheek as the tears came harder, a calloused thumb swiping the raging rivers aside.
"Please Kars... I can't give him up... what if he--?...." you wimpered, unable to finish that thought. You were fully aware you had already lost for today as he shook his head sadly.
Your tears did nothing to sway him when he knew what he had to do.
His free hand slipped under the sleeping Cub, Peanut did little more than fill his palm, scooping him up and cradling him close to his chest as he stood.
Your arms had never felt more empty.
"I'm sorry, Beloved. It has to be done." He told you as you stared up at him with a crestfallen and teary gaze. "Chances are, his natural instincts will kick in and he will learn to take care of himself despite the absence of his Mother. Abandoned Cubs are more common than you think. Peanut needs to go back to the woods."
That was all that could be said, the Pillarman disappeared in one blinding flash; taking the Bear Cub with him.
You were left there sitting on the porch, scrubbing at your cheeks with the sleeve of your sweater until the sensitive skin was raw in the cool Spring morning air. You managed to pull yourself together enough to not raise suspicion and headed back inside to make some coffee.
The morning passed quietly, when Kars made his eventual return to the house (sans Bear in hand) you didn't even look him in the eye.
You didn't deny that Kars had done the right thing, Peanut was in fact a wild Animal and belonged to the wilderness, but you still felt strangely bitter over it. So inexplicably angry it almost felt childish as you couldn't stop yourself from glaring at his back as he passed the kitchen table.
More time passed, your only half-drunk mug of coffee had long gone cold and your grief for the little Bear you knew that was left all alone somewhere in the woods had managed to ebb somewhat. You were just about to get up to go get a start on some chores when all of a sudden, Wamuu came through the door.
"Shoo! Shoo!" The massive Pillarman swiped his hand as he backed himself through the door, "Go on! Go back to your Home, small one."
You tilted your head, watching the unusual display. "What's wrong?"
The blonde turned his head to look at you with a frown. "I was trying to finish up my morning task when a Bear came out of the woods." He explained, finally closing the door with a sigh. Your gasp went unnoticed as he peered through the window of the door, his frown only etching deeper. "It's too small to be a juvenile. Just a Cub. I did not want to find out if there was a Mother lingering so I came back to the House. However, it seems to have decided to follow me..."
The Warrior blinked as you were suddenly out of your seat, squeezing past him to squish against the window of the door to see for yourself.
"Peanut!" You cried, your heart fluttering in your chest as you too caught sight of the little round ink blot sitting dejectedly on the porch.
Wamuu barely had a chance to react let alone intervene as you yanked open the door again, the sounds of the crying Bear hitting your ears.
It was Peanut alright, every feature similar right down to the whiskers of his muzzle. The Bear was plopped down on his rear, feet sticking out under him like he were a simple Teddy Bear sitting on the shelf of a toy store, and staring up at the door he knew you were behind. The squeaky wailing of the Cub fell silent as soon as he caught sight of you and realized he was no longer all alone, it seemed that he missed you just as much as you had him.
Wamuu stared in disbelief, watching with wide eyes as the little Bear rolled onto his back to reveal his soft tummy and stubby paws to you.
"Peanut?" The blonde questioned, one thick eyebrow raising as he looked between you both.
This was a wild Animal and yet you greeted it like some sort of pet!
As your leaned down to give a loving rub to the exposed tummy of the Bear, cooing at it as contentment spread across its features. You intended to recount this mornings full story to ease Wamuu's obvious confusion, however, you didn't so much as get the chance to get a word out before Kars was standing in the room.
He had just been about to head upstairs and absorb himself in his work, when he caught a snippet of what was happening in the kitchen. The Pillarman's crimson eyes wide as he approached, needing to see what was happening for himself.
"Look Kars!" You beamed, grinning up at both gawking Pillarmen as the Bear grasped at your petting hand, playfully trying to gum on your fingers with blunt little teeth. "Peanut came back!"
Kars all but shared in your glee, the pinching of his brows and the drooping of his lips gave away his irritation.
He had dropped Peanut off safely somewhere in the woods, not far from your usual walking path. When he had left, the Cub had still been sound asleep, completely none the wiser to being left behind, and the Pillarman had honestly thought that would be that.
It would seem the creature had imprinted on you more than he anticipated and it only added on to his previous fears.
"I'm afraid I'm in need of an explanation, my Lord..." Wamuu spoke up, tearing his gaze away from you and the Bear Cub you were most happily playing with.
Kars swooped in, taking the Cub away from you for the 2nd time that morning, much like an Eagle dropping from the sky to snatch up a mouse. Peanut pawed at his hardened chest, becoming squirmy in the massive mans hold as he let out a couple of little grunts.
It was as if the Bear knew exactly what Kars intended to do.
"I'll explain it to you in full when I return, Wamuu." He sighed as he begun carrying the squirming woodland creature away from the House towards the woods where he deemed it rightfully belonged.
You waved at the baby Bear as it watched you from over one muscled shoulder with those big honeyed eyes, feeling a little disheartened again but the fact that the Cub came looking for you still made a sweet warmth bloom in your chest.
It would be far from the last time any of you saw Peanut.
Late morning turned to afternoon and the day bloomed into something warm and lovely, like a watered down Summer day. Linens and towels came straight from the washing machine and were headed for the clothesline to dry in the sweet air.
There was absolutely nothing better than falling asleep in bedsheets that had spent all day out on a line in the breeze.
Always happy to help you around the household, Esidisi volunteered to put them out for you as you were already busy doing other things around the house.
He had only turned his back for 2 seconds to hang the first sheet, humming softly to himself as he went, before turning to find a baby Bear making himself at Home in the laundry basket he had carried out. Peanut was rubbing his scent all over the damp linens as he rolled in and pawed at the clean sheets; inevitably dirtying them again.
Esidisi found the whole ordeal hilarious, most especially when he was fed the full story of the morning by you who had come out to see what was taking him so long with his chore.
Kars, on the other hand, didn't find it so very funny.
He especially didn't see the humor in it when he found the two of you playing with Peanut in the yard, entertaining yourselves and the Cub by draping a sheet over him and prying it off like a parachute over and over.
Peanut was taken back to the forest a 3rd time; this time much farther into the woods.
Late afternoon rolled around and Santana finally left the house to go outside; having the sole intention of taking a nap in the fresh air via the hammock that had been recently strung up in the backyard.
Unfortunately, the youngest Pillarman got sidetracked when a little Bear came out of the woodwork and crawled into the hammock with him, mewling and demanding his immediate attention as he was hungry once again.
Kars, the one and only, spirited Peanut away before you and Santana had a chance to make more sandwiches to feed it.
This happened over and over and over again.
It seemed like every time the Pillarman dumped Peanut somewhere, no matter how remote or how far from your Home, the little Bear inevitably found its way back sooner or later; ambling up to you or the others with a mighty hunger and a carefree nature unmatched.
Peanut appeared on the doorstep next morning when you were about to head out for a walk.
Peanut was found digging in the trash bin when Kars was taking out the trash.
Peanut clung to Wamuu's leg as he went out to mow the lawn; the Warrior didn't so much as bat an eye, unhindered, as the Cub held onto his ankle while he worked the mower.
Peanut approached Santana when he was eating chips on the porch; the Pillarmen didn't seem to mind the company nor the fact the Bear ended up upside down in the bag.
Peanut followed you around like you were its one true Mother while you tended the yard and carried out chores.
Peanut sat contently at Esidisi's feet as the man was Barbecuing supper in the evening; the Bear watching him and waiting for supper to be served as if he were the guest of Honor.
Each time, without fail, Kars brought him back to the woods and each time, without fail, Peanut came back.
It was only frustrating him further and further.
Eventually, one quiet and rainy morning Kars went out onto the porch to sit and read; he always enjoyed the sound of rainfall and the fresh earthen smell of a Spring downpour. He had barely been there 5 minutes, not even enough time to get truly immersed in his novel, when suddenly a very wet and cold ball of hair climbed up into his lap, actually making the Pillarman yelp at the shock of the sensation of a freezing cold Cub pressing against his bare skin.
Kars was big and dry and comfortable, like a much bigger and hairless Bear, a place Peanut deemed perfect enough to sit out of the Rain and warm up.
The purple-haired man frowned down at the chubby bundle taking up residence in his lap, Peanut grunted contently as he made himself comfortable. His normally downy soft and dandelion puffed fur was now patterned down and awry, radiating with a dank with a heady, musky Bear smell due to being soaking wet.
It was not at all a pleasant smell to anyone's nose, most especially to a Pillarman's as they were creatures with extra sensitive senses.
Kars, now feeling that this was the final straw, was just about to scoop the creature up into his arms and carry out their usual pick up and drop off routine; this time he intended to take Peanut all the way down river to the farthest side of the forest and leave him there.
He stopped on a dime when two big pools of honey locked onto glimmering rubies.
"Don't look at me like that..." the Pillarman warned, feeling his heart quiver strangely in his chest. The command didn't come out nearly as firm as he intended it to be.
Kars treasured creatures big and small and this creature was so adorable, so small it made his arms itch in ways he hadn't felt since the time he had taken care of the two infants that grew to be Wamuu and Santana. Peanut rolled in his lap, squishing his face against the Pillarman's abs and nuzzling softly; his fur stuck to bare skin in an almost icky way and made his loincloth feel very damp and uncomfortable due to the run off of water.
The Pillarman pursed his lips, forcing himself to bring to mind all the logical points on why this Bear (this nuisance, this danger, this predator) had to go.
Peanut opened his mouth and let out a little yawn and a sneeze, probably just as hungry as he was cold and damp.
Kars' huge hands balled into fists at his sides, his jaw setting tighter and tighter as he felt himself and the walls of his determination crumbling, hating every single millisecond of it before eventually, after an internal struggle that lasted seemingly millennium... he sighed.
Peanut was scooped into his arms and, this time, taken into the House.
âââ
"Really?!" You cried in disbelief, hands going to your mouth as it pulled into an impossibly huge grin.
Esidisi, Wamuu and Santana just sat there, expressions ranging from shock to disbelief of their own.
Surely he couldn't be serious... could he?
Kars let out a long breath, "Yes, dearest." He groaned, still cradling the tiny dampened Bear in the crook of his arm as it clung to his bicep. "We can keep Peanut."
Immediately, to everyoneâs amusement but Kars', you were in his lap just as quickly as the Cub had climbed into it. You didn't care one bit that he was a little damp and that some of Peanuts musky stink had rubbed off on him, peppering his face with thousands of kisses as you threw your arms around both the Pillarman and the Cub.
"Oh Kars! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" You squealed between your line of kisses.
Nobody had expected Kars to cave in this matter; they honestly expected this to go on and on for some time until Peanut was forced to be the one to give up on finding his way back to the house.
However, despite the fact all of them were pleased and ready to take on this idea of having an actual living Bear around, there came the next matters to attend to.
The ground rules.
"But he cannot stay inside the house." Kars said, that firm nature of his making its return. Peanut had managed to wriggle out of both of your holds and was now ambling around the Livingroom, sniffing everything and everyone in sight. Esidisi was following him around to ensure he wouldn't break anything or get himself into more trouble while Kars was feeling so generous, smiling indulgently as he scooped him up and presented him to the others.
"Ok." You hummed, that part was only to be expected.
But you wouldn't deny that somewhere in the back of your mind you had fantasized about cuddling up to a giant fuzzy Peanut in bed or on the couch.
Kars took in another deep breath and the atmosphere changed, it was as if the temperature dropped in the room. The mans eyes were serious and his features became even more stonelike than the masks he crafted as he pulled you closer to him in his lap.
"I want you to listen to me, dear one." He began, his voice was low and something akin to fridged; it only sent shivers dancing down your spine. "If Peanut grows to be an aggressive creature or too much a hassle to handle, even if he gives any of us the slightest reason to fear he would harm you in any way, shape or form... we'll have to be rid of him. Permanently."
His words hung in the air, making your stomach sink like a rock falling helplessly to the depths of the ocean. A lump was starting to balloon in your throat.
You knew very well what that meant.
The Pillarmen weren't men who took any form of pleasure out of killing Animals; Kars especially... but you knew that he would not hesitate to do so for your sake. His words spoken to you prior on the porch when you first encountered the Cub rang around quite deafeningly in your head.
"Do I make myself clear?" He asked you, his pupils burned absolute holes into your heart as he held your gaze; not unlike a strict parent after giving the scolding of a lifetime.
The best you could do was nod, praying the day you all feared would never come at all or at least not very soon; the latter was perhaps your best hope.
For now, however, you planned on celebrating the day by making a peanut butter sandwich for the newest, and perhaps hungriest, member of your little Family.
âââ
Time passed, as it did for everything, and Peanut grew and grew. He grew from a small and clumsy little Bear Cub into a bigger and gangly Juvenile Bear by mid Summer.
Sometimes the Bear would disappear at night into the woods, just after supper of course, but there were also times he would just sleep close to the house; most specifically by the front porch. Peanut still followed you around outside as you did anything, always greeting you with a grunt as he flopped onto his back to reveal his belly and were always more than happy to rub it when he did.
His appetite did indeed grow and the simple peanut butter namesake was no longer truly fulfilling to him; nothing more than a sweet morsel to lick up as a treat.
Peanut had to be shown how to properly hunt for himself and that was something you and Esidisi decided to tackle together, taking him down to the river on the hottest days to teach him to to fish for himself. Those days were filled with much laughter on your part where you sat on the bank to watch the Pillarmen wading out in the raging waters with the Bear, hunched forward and making a grab for a slippery and wet flying fish with his hands as they jumped from the water to properly demonstrate.
Eventually, after much trial and error (not to mention Esidisi falling right into the river a handful of times) Peanut was able to catch all the fish he wanted to eat.
Wamuu was a big help in burning off the major energy that came with Peanut growing into an adult Bear. The Warrior often spent hours out in the yard playing with him, going so far as to push and wrestle with the creature, playing simple games like throwing a giant ball around or to even take him on a run through the woods to tire him out.
Sometimes you even tailed behind the pair on your 4 wheeler to get in on the fun and play.
Santana found himself spending his days playing with Peanut too, more often content to help you take care of the beast. You and Santana tried to bath Peanut at least once every 2 weeks to fight against his stinky Bear musk, lathering him up nicely where he sat contently in an old kiddie pool in the yard and hosing him off. Santana would spend a lot of time with Peanut as the Bear napped, scratching his back and finger combing the knots out of his fur; even plucking annoying ticks from the Bears body when he found them.
You found it quite disturbing, and more than a little gross, as to how Santana could hold the bloated insects between his fingers and pop them upon finding them. You swore you could hear the red-head chuckle lowly each time you let out a disgusted gag when he done it.
And Kars, he found himself dotting over and spoiling Peanut with affection just as much as you did.
The Pillarman would deny any claims that he snuck the Bear peanut butter sandwiches between meals or even peanut butter straight from the jar but you knew the truth. It was hard to miss as it seemed Peanut would immediately give Kars a good sniffing upon seeing him, obviously checking for any delicious treats he happened to be keeping concealed.
By late Fall, Peanut was a fully grown Adult Bear.
In fact, he had swollen to such an immense size, he was something of a rival to the Pillarmen; by that time it was something of a relief he was a gentle giant. He was still a wild Animal but he was also a loving pet to you and the 4 Pillarmen.
One day, Peanut stumbled out into the woods and didn't return. Snow came not long after and then the brutal and fridged season of Winter truly begun.
Peanut had disappeared but you knew he wasn't far in the woods, hopefully holed up in a cave and hibernating.
Winter passed slowly, more slowly than it ever had before. As December ticked away to January and eventually February, the others didn't miss how much you missed your Peanut; he was all you could talk about somedays! You weren't the only one who missed him however, not missing the wistful looks passing over the faces of the others upon seeing a segment on Black Bears airing on National Geographic or opening the fridge to find the jar of peanut butter sitting there; untouched and almost begging to be eaten.
March went bye, then April and the snow had long melted away due to the heavy rainfall but still, Peanut did not make his return.
You were seriously starting to worry by this time. What if he hadn't been hibernating all along? What if a Hunter had gotten to him? Or what if... he forgot about you?
The Pillarmen could only console you so much, trying their best not to give you false hope by saying things along the lines of "I'm sure he'll be around!" and make things worse as they really did not know of Peanut's fate either...
It was well over a year since you had first taken in the Cub and now there was no sign of him anywhere.
But just when you were starting to give up all hope of seeing your prized Bear and companion again, you opened the door one morning as you prepared to go on your morning walk to be met with shock.
You just about jumped out of your skin as an earth rattling roar hit your eardrums, sending a jolt of fear striking through your body like lightning and screaming in primal terror at the sight before you. A Black Bear that was larger than life stood on its haunches off the porch, its maw open and its breath showing like hot puffs of steam as it growled out into the cold Spring air; asserting its presence for miles.
For one terrible and too long of a moment, you thought you would be slaughtered on your own doorstep by your most favorite Animal on Earth.
Your terror was short-lived however, as the monstrous beast you feared would devour you whole suddenly flopped onto its back and turned its belly to the sky.
"PEANUT!" You cried, spreading your arms wide as you ran to flop on top of the creature; your friend and pet.
It wasn't long after when all 4 Pillarmen were standing out on the porch, your screech having been heard from inside the house.
"Look Kars!" You beamed, rubbing the gargantuan tummy with a wide grin; eliciting a content grunt from the Bear. "Peanut came back!
Kars could only smile this time and shake his head.
Peanut had come back again, without fail; just as he always done and the Pillarmen were quite happy he was here to stay...

P1 - Given how great you're track record's been for doing hypothetical interactions of Amphibia kids with the Duck kids and Owl House kids, let's try doing the Duck kids meeting the Owl House kids and who they'd like the best. I'll exclude Violet for this for the sake of evenening things out 5 to 5. I'd assume Luz would get along best with Dewey (both jump into adventure), King with Louie (could see em teaming up for a scheme), Willow with Huey (eh, more leftover interaction but can work)
Screenshot of second half of the ask provided. Text: P2 Gus with Webby (would totally ask each other lots of questions about their species), and Amity with Lena (both got abusive figures they stood up to and would totally talk about their crushes on Luz and Webby LOL). Would love to see you take on Duck kids and Owl House kids interactions.
First of all Iâm very pleased to hear you find my track record on these posts good, theyâve been really fun to write and it makes me really happy people like them! Second I am so sorry itâs taken so long to get to this ask, itâs a really in depth one and it took a long time to write, I hope youâll find it was worth the wait!
Aight! Oh and one last thing real quick before I get into it. I hope you wouldnât mind me adding Violet back in, partially due to the fact I love her, but mostly because thereâs actually another owl house character I think works significantly better with Louie than anyone else and I really want the chance to talk about that. Saving that one for last hehe. Thisâll be another long one, writing below the cut.
Luz and Webby So I do like a lot of the possible interactions brought up by your suggested grouping but my mind went in a few different directions. Iâll start with Luz, who would fit in best with another excitable adventuring partner, as pointed out, but I think the best fit for her in that regard would actually be Webby. While Dewey would no doubt get along great with Luz, thereâs a special element to the potential relationship between Luz and Webby that really elevates the potential of their friendship to another level, that being: they both want to eat a hamburger.
An aspect of Webby I wish the later seasons of the show got into a little more, but is definitely something I would consider a core part of her character, is the fact that she got held up in the mansion her whole childhood, with no opportunities to interact with the world around her, have all the adventures she wanted, and most importantly to just be seen as the kid she wanted to be. And while Luz was technically able to go out into the world, the place she found wasnât one that was willing to see her, or give her any of the chances she longed for. Both Webby and Luz fully understand that feeling of being trapped in your own life, of finally getting the chance to break out and just doing your best to make the most of it. I think thereâs a lot the two could gain from spending some time together.
(Also, to borrow the bit about gushing about their crushes but from the other end, these two would totally get sidetracked talking about their respective crushes and also trying to play wingman for each other. Itâs a massive comic disaster in both cases, but somehow both Lena and Amity manage to find it endearing).
Amity and Violet Okay wait lemme explain. While the two of them donât have a whole lot in common at first glance, I think they would genuinely get along extremely well. While a lot of Amityâs focus on school came at the force of her parents, you cannot honestly expect me to believe that girl isnât a studious nerd on her own anyway. Heck even outside the realm of studies she throws her full dedication into literally every single thing she does. Remind you of anyone? Beyond just being extremely intelligent Violet is clever and ready for anything. She takes everything in stride and always has a plan, she can go from âwe were sleeping over and you said everybody get on the plane, so we got on the planeâ to âI brought an axeâ in a minute flat.
I like to think the two of them would have a mutual respect for each other based on their respective intellects upon first meeting, but as they become closer friends they find they can move from more serious respect to a casual enjoyment of each other. I would go as far as to say that both of these characters really value dependability in a friend, and that they each provide a lot of that. To wrap back around to the stuff about intelligence I think Violet could provide a lot of insight to Amity as far as showing her that pursuing studies and academic heights of her own volition can be something that she can just do because she wants to, and thatâs no excuse for unhealthy parental relationships. Getting along so well with someone like Violet only to see that her parents are actually really loving and supportive, that would be really eye-opening for Amity I think. For Violetâs part she could get a lot of help from Amity as far as her pursuit of the secrets of magic goes. I suspect Amity would be much more interested in the study of her magic than Violet would be able to get Lena to tolerate lol.
Bonus Round: Amity would absolutely be a senior junior woodchuck and she would love it you cannot convince me otherwise. She starts quoting the JWGB around the owl house kids and they all look at her like sheâs crazy.
Lena and Willow I feel like this one might seem a little out there at first but trust me on this one. Initially Lena doesnât think too much of Willow, being as close as she is to Webby she knows liking flowers and cute things doesnât mean Willow is automatically to be taken lightly but she feels like sheâs got a good read on her that she generally prefers to avoid trouble and turns down opportunities for violence, which isnât really Lenaâs deal. Over time Lena figures she was right about her first impressions as Willow doesnât seem to take many opportunities to expose some hidden power, even when Lena knows the people around her kinda deserve it.
She learns to adjust her opinion when she finally does get the chance to see Willow in action and realizes that girl is more powerful than any of the other kids sheâs met in the boiling aisles bar none(yes this is my genuine opinion of willow if you donât think she could kick your ass youâre wrong). Itâs at that moment where she starts to pay more attention to Willow and notices a lot more of the strength she puts into all the little things, how much she cares for everyone and everything, and it does a great deal to show Lena that maybe having super strong magic powers isnât mutually exclusive with being kind and gentle. And maybe gentle isnât her thing but still, itâs nice to know.
For Willowâs part sheâs just happy to make more friends. Especially if the opportunity arises, as I like to think it would, when theyâre close enough friends, that Lena would start to hint around asking questions about how Willow remains so casual and nice with the ability to do so much damage, and Willow takes the chance to help Lena figure out her magic a bit more, and learn how to better appreciate it as an aspect of herself she doesnât have to be scared of. (I mean come on Lena never really learned how to do any of it except barely kind of from Magica of all people she could really use something like that).
Huey and Gus Now there are some certain things about Gus that would drive Huey absolutely nuts. His lack of primary and reliable sources for any of his information being a big one, but at the end of the day I think heâd enjoy Gusâ desire to learn in the first place. Gus would probably be a little dubious about Hueyâs âsourcesâ and âcitationsâ but if it helped him get more info on the human realm heâd certainly go for it in the end. In that way the two balance each other out pretty well. Gus is studious and intelligent but heâs a little off the wall, heâs got a big creative streak, and heâs really excitable. Huey is really really good at facts and analysis but he lacks the strength in imagination that Gus has. Huey is able to take all the grandiose concepts Gus is able to think up and help make them actually happen. Gus has that specific brand of an adventurers soul matched up with the fact heâs not actually the type to get into danger and fights, meaning heâs able to drag Huey out of his comfort zone a little and help him reach new heights with his mind that his struggles with creativity prevent him from reaching, while managing to not make him feel like heâs actually in danger. I actually believe the two of them together could get some really incredible stuff done.
What Iâm saying is that with Hueyâs help Gus could absolutely complete his tunnels under Hexside.
Dewey and King Now this, this is the pair who would go incredibly well together, at the detriment of literally everyone around them. If there is one person King âI Will Rule Everythingâ Clawthorne should not be exposed to its Dewey Duck. Within minutes of meeting each other the two of them would immediately have so many bad ideas. Between Deweyâs insistence on being the best and most daring adventurer while putting his name on everything and going down in history & Kingâs trying to rule everything and everyone, the attempts to raise the stakes would be constant and the two would spend literal hours endlessly trying to one-up each other. All in one day they search for legendary treasure, discover an entirely new civilization, try to take over said civilization, create a new species just to name it after themselves, and build statues of themselves in the middle of Bonesbourough. And thatâs all before lunch.
Louie Here it is. The one I waited till the very end for out of sheer excitement. I even kept the second name out of the heading thing. Thatâs how secretive Iâm trying to be about this. See, thereâs one character in the owl house that works so well with Louie itâs practically canon. Their interactions have so much potential, they each bring so much to the table, I just couldnât Not talk about it. And yeah, I know this ask was specifically asking about the owl house and ducktales kids, but I just couldnât resist talking about the relationship between Louie and Eda.
A con artist from another world who was so successful she became nationally famous? Thereâs no way Louie would pass up an opportunity like that. For his part I wouldnât be surprised if heâs already managed to set up another underworld identity in the boiling aisles, or at the very least that Eda could totally have been to the ducktales realm and heard of his one there.
Either way Iâm convinced the two of them would start planning a heist as soon as they figure out who each other are. Eda is a little prideful and wants to show this kid he canât out-con her, but Louie knows what heâs doing just as much. Honestly with the two of them combined Eda wouldnât have to worry about losing her stand for a long time. Over the course of their planning and seeing Louie in action Eda begrudgingly gains some respect for the kid, and while Louie was definitely just using her as a learning/profit opportunity at first, heâs pretty susceptible to getting attached.
For Louie, itâs the fact that she actually respects him for being good at what he does. Even back with his family who all love and care about him and all that he still feels like most of them donât really get what he does or see whatâs special about him, so having someone who made a whole life of it be even a little proud of him feels really nice.
And of course, at the end of their heist when they finally have the money in hand, and Eda just casually hands over his half, he stares at her like sheâs crazy.
âYouâre just.. Giving it to me?!â
âWell, yeah. That was the deal wasnât it kid? I mean if you really want I definitely have a few ideas for it.â
âNo! Uh, no, thanks, Iâll keep it. Itâs just that you really remind me of someone, I guess I was expecting something else.â

Trollhunters alt timeline AU concept:
Okay, so since Iâll never have the emotional energy to Write It in full, I just want to share my wild ass Trollhunters alt timeline AU, inspired by that chaos ride of a movie.
Disclaimer: Personally speaking, I actually enjoyed the RotT movie for the absolutely absurdist, emotion-murdering storyline it was. I can certainly say that it... (and in fact, Wizards too) most definitely doesnât follow the ToA personal canon I hold in my heart, BUT- I donât consider my idea a âfix-itâ because I strongly dislike using that term myself. In all its imperfection, canon simply is what it is, and thus my idea is instead just a wild little AU concept, because thinking about what-ifs is fun. However, given that self-indulgence is a hoot, this is also my way of molding a plotline where some of my favored elements get to play in to everything.
Beginnings:
This AU diverges from the very end of the RotT movie.
So⌠from my reading of the last scene, one could argue that Jimâs canon decision to return to before he picked up the amulet and avoid picking it up again was born out of a sense of failure⌠a feeling that he failed as a hero because he wasnât there to save his best friend from dying. He kinda wished himself (as he is, as the Trollhunter) away in a âItâs a Wonderful Lifeâ type manner, hoping that by simply allowing someone else to take up the mantle, maybe things could end up better.
In this AU, instead of sending himself back to before he picked up the amulet, Jimâs last spoken desire before he uses the time crystal is a stubborn, confident assertion. Not doubting his own ability as the Trollhunter, but resolving to save all his friends in whatever way he can.
And heâs going to do this starting from Draal.
However, thereâs a catch. This time crystal⌠powerful magic like this always poses consequences. And once he uses it, he discovers that the terms of this second chance are that no one can ever find out that this previous world ever existed. Jim is alone in his knowledge. He must tread carefully. Should anyone ever discover this secret⌠cataclysm will occur.
Time will shatter.
No pressure, or anything.
Timeline 2.0:
Future Jim is shucked back to his old body somewhere amidst early season 3. His first goal is keeping Draal alive. His foreknowledge of Angor Rotâs involvement in Merlinâs tomb will aid them greatly in how to better protect his friends.
His second goal... is one that heâs kinda of two minds about, but knows is desperately necessary for the fights heâll face in the future. Heâll of course have to become a half-troll again. Thankfully, this go around itâs entirely his choice, and he knows itâs coming. That transition will be easier. Along with this... he knows heâll have to somehow manage to keep ahold of his amulet. He canât let the Arcane Order destroy it, and he canât let them take control of him. If he stands any chance of being on top of his game in the early stages of their eventual fight against the titans, heâll need to keep both that AND remain half-troll.
His challenge early on: Jim is stuck in the very awkward position of having to play chess master with events that heâs already lived through, so as to attain the same old victories WHILE ensuring all of his allies come out alive this time around... and WHILE not cluing anyone else in on the fact that he knows their futures. The stress involved with that is immense, and thereâs bound to be instances in which heâs very clumsy with how he manages this. One of the largest early consequences of this second timeline is that he grows more emotionally distant from his friends and allies, especially those who had died in the original timeline... because after all, itâs almost as if heâs walking among ghosts, right now.
I honestly donât know exactly how Wizards would shift because I havenât seen it in eons, but Jim still has to ensure they end up in the past, right? Since he knows theyâre a part of the past for better or for worse. He isnât injured this time around, he likely has been hiding his amulet while back there, and thereâs no beast Jim situation because the Arcane Order hasnât wrest control of him. Thatâs all I know at the moment.
But yeah, those earlier battles end in victory (or partial victory, since of course the Arcane Order are a slippery bunch)... all allies are still alive... Jim remains half-troll by the beginning of the events of RotT in timeline 2.0...
HOWEVER.
Because of Jimâs extreme focus on keeping his friends- Nomura, Nari, Strickler, Toby- alive... because of how bonds within the group have weakened from his emotional distance... his second go at trying to stop complete armaggeddon is an entire failure.
Nari is saved, but they fail at stopping the other two titans. The world is set to be reborn in ice and fire. Jim has failed, once again. Itâs at this moment that in a fit of frustration and rage, he lets his secret slip... accidentally reveals what was supposed to remain hidden... that this is his Second Time experiencing this.
Time shatters.
And then, the whole of creation falls silent. On pause, for Jimâs eyes only.
At this point in this AU story, since I am super self indulgent, I want to do a literal God from the Machine. Because I had a concept flash into my mind... a concept of a literal ancient deity rising from a deep sleep to set her attention upon the mess these mortals have created. All she appears as is bright, blinding light, and an echoing, sonorous voice.
When Jim asks her identity, she simply replies that she is the First Spark. The origin of all life, light, and magic. She has many names⌠names that countless souls have used to name their young in unknowing reverence⌠but one in particular that he might recognize.
Deya.
This goddess is the embodiment of daylight and creation, and the sword Jim wields? The armor? It is essentially made of her body. Her power. Her essence. Stripped away and used for whatever purpose mortals desired whilst she slept. How egotistical, she thinks, that Merlin directed all glory towards himself, rather than to the deity that allowed for his use of magic in the first place.
And so Deya reveals that she aims to clean up this cataclysm by returning the world to its original state. The original timeline. The one where this world hasnât been destroyed in a horrible cataclysm. Jim, of course⌠immediately protests. Brings up all the hard, desperate days he lived just to get this far, just to save his closest friends and family. Begs her to do something, ANYTHING to help.
And eventually⌠the goddess offers up a choice. Sheâll agree to restore the individuals who were dead in the original timeline, weaving the living souls of those in the second timeline into the first⌠but. To provide consequence for the disastrous mess mortal kind made, she refuses to use such power of resurrection in a âpick and chooseâ sort of manner. If sheâs going to resurrect Jimâs allies, then sheâs going to resurrect his enemies too. Everyone who has died throughout his journey will be brought back, no matter their alignment with the Trollhunter team.
Now, in order to save everyone, Jim must once again risk re-igniting the same conflicts with many of these foes all over again... except this time, in new paradigms and patterns that even he cannot predict. Is it worth it, for his friends? For the ones he loves?
Endgame:
Jim makes the deal. All the dead are restored. As time begins to flow again, they stand in the rubble of the titan they destroyed in timeline one. Jim feels great anxiety at the thought of the last two members of the Arcane Order being alive once more, but at very least the titans they piloted are no more. Theyâd have to come up with a new plan of attack now, if they had their hearts set on the same goal.
Toby is alive. So is Strickler, Nomura, Draal, Nari... Those who were dead, however... quickly realize that they remember dying. Those who remained alive in both timelines realize that they possess memories of both. Certain relationships will likely be rocky and strained for the first while.
Somewhere on this planet, old foes, old allies, and unpredictable agents alike have returned from the cold grasp of death with a shock. Itâs anyoneâs guess what new rivalries, alliances, and driving plans will emerge this time. At the very least, however... team Trolhunters is intact... and theyâre more than willing to face this new, unpredictable future once more, wherever it leads. Together, hand-in-hand.
Fin.

"How does this look?" Zaira is holding up a green dress that goes down to your toes in length. You give the deep shade a once over and turn back to your laptop. "Meh." Zaira tsks. "I mean-" you breathe and give your attention to your friend- "it's okay. For you. For me?" You shake your head and shrug before trying to discreetly get back to the screen. "Bullshit. You look amazing in green." You try to find the mouse on the screen. "Are you sure?" The question is bland. "Of course! No one can carry this like you! And for the sake of all things holy, stop looking at your death again and again!" Your brows furrow at the statement, turning back to Zaira, who still stands there with the green dress, except for one thing- the usual workspace of white and grey is now replaced with an eerily familiar dark forest with trees trying to touch the sky. "What?" It is nothing more than a whisper, this word erupting from your lips at the change in scenery. Your mind is at the edge of a realisation waiting to erupt when your hand feels an unwelcoming heat. The immediate reaction is to get your arm away from the laptop, or at least that is what you think you are doing considering the last saved spot of this occurrence in your memory. But there is no laptop. No chairs or tables.  Just a bonfire in front of you and your hands covered in blood and tied in ropes tearing through your flesh. And beyond that fire are figures in the dark chanting verses that are alien to your ears. But just as the chanting grows louder, you can feel a cloud of dread begin to loom of your heart; growing bigger by the second. Zaira! You are screaming her name but your voice isn't audible and you cannot see her anywhere either. Zaira!! You call out for her again when the figures seem to be getting closer to you, the anxiety in your chest beginning to hurt even more. ZAIRA!!!
The loudness of her name in your conscience jerks you awake with the dread transported straight out of your hallucination. Still breathless and sweating from the nightmare, your head pounds at the sudden jump to the reality of finding yourself lying under a fur skin as heavy as you inside what seemed like a tent. From where you lay, the roof is a muddy beige colour dense enough to block sun or rain. Turning your head to your right, you can see a side table housing a copper goblet along with a copper jug. I hope to the Gods that water. I don't care if it's laced with poison at this moment. Turning to your left you are taken a little back to see familiar golden eyes staring from the copper jug back at you, so close that that saliva ridden tongue could lick you if it wanted. "Hi," you greet the familiar creature from the night of your nightmare, your heart still trying to dilute, resting by your side. The creature tilts its neck a little before you can see its tail rise up and swing from side to side. Such a doggo. You try to get up- with much effort, thanks to this animal duvet weighing just as much or maybe more than you- and breathe the cold air around you. Even though the anxiety of this recent incident is still looming around you in the corners you don't want to look at, it is a relief to feel the quiet around you. And the weird doggo looking at you seems to make those corners lighter, convincing your heart that it all ended not so bad at some point. Moving the fur duvet off you to get to the water on your side, you suddenly find yourself quickly putting the fur back on at the momentary realisation of something major amiss, bringing back all that anxiety that was watching you from the corners. "Where the fuck are my clothes?" you whisper right at the doggo despite knowing that poor thing can only swing its tail whenever you look at it. "They were tattered beyond repair." The voice immediately brings your duvet up to your chin before your eyes dart towards the entrance in front of you. No fucki-oh. A woman with skin paler than the pale described for Bella from Twilight stands at the entrance of the tent with a bunch of warm clothing. Her eyes carry a hint of grey and muddy green in them. She takes it upon herself to have already gotten permission to walk towards your side and place the clothes she has got in front of you before going back to secure the entrance. "You were fortunate to be alive in those deadly woods of the dark," she mentions while taking a thermos out of her dress and pouring the contents in the bowl kept on the makeshift table; all the while with her back towards you. You, still cautious of the eyes around you, slowly snuck the clothes inside the duvet to put them on. Only when putting them on, you realise the lack of a bra or panties; just a loose cotton camisole in their stead. ...okay. Maybe they didn't know my size. You look back at the woman busying herself around the tent. All you can see is the huge- and seemingly heavy- overcoat made out of an animal. Or maybe they...don't have the resources? Great, Y/N. Go be a judgmental b for the people who saved your life. The gown is a deep blue shade that neatly wraps around your shape and is put in place with the hooks, the last step being securing it all with the one string tied in what only you would call a bow. "So, it was you who saved me last night?" The woman brought you a bowl with steaming hot stew, bursting out in laughter on hearing your question. You stand there watching her immediately suppress the laughter as if she had been caught red-handed for a grave crime. "My apologies for what you just saw. It was not me who saved you." And before you can ask who it was, the woman gathers a wide bowl filled with water, a couple of hand towels and two bowls of what looked like homemade ointments, and walks out of the tent. You are about to go thinking about the materials that woman just took away when the only being you are familiar with, gets up from the bed, jumps down and struts out of the tent. "Wait...don't leave me," you whimper in a low tone, gathering a bit of strength to walk out right behind him. . The clearing in the forest has been turned into a camp with soldiers bustling in any direction you look. Swords, bows and arrows are being used for practice in one corner and the same are being mended in the other. Helmets akin to the ones Vikings wore can be seen on top of many heads. So can the undercut and braids. "Is this a cosplay fair?" you ask the one guy who passes by close to you. He is nearly the same height as you, but with a lush red beard and hazel eyes. He- and his two friends- observes you from head to toe, almost making you realise how out of place you already look. "This is a war camp, missy. One where you have no reason staying." You mock a laugh at the audacity of this person. "I will decide the reason for my stay myself...boy." You start to walk away, trying to find any familiar figure in this quite realistic cosplay village. But last you remembered, there has been no such fair going on in the vicinity of that cursed town. A heated hand captures your arm and forces you to turn around. A wince comes out of you and flashes of that gory incident move before your eyes. Especially the face of that man. The Viking guy takes a step towards you, not letting go of your hand in the first wank. "Sigmund! Who is this wench with a quick mouth?" Sigmund, the taller of the three men, with bulky features and a sharp nose huffed. "Someone who needs to learn her place, Kare." "Aye," the last of the three speaks, "she does not look like help. Not in that silk she wears." Kare smirks through that unruly beard of his. "Why, are you that prince's mistress then, lassy? Is that why you came out from those royal tents, eh?" Kare turns towards his lads to laugh, who had slowly gathered now to watch the show, giving you something new to be anxious about. Agni, on the other hand, makes his way through this crowd to come and stand next to you, observing the situation. "Fucking dogs," you whisper under your breath- which you are trying your best to stop from trembling- and begin to walk away again but Kare is already hopping in your path. "Why in such a hurry, my lady?" He bows and turns towards his lads to let his words be heard by everyone "Give us unworthy lads a chance to find out how well you warm the royal beds, eh?" But the 'lads' seem to be having a sudden seizure. Either that or the joke did not seem to register. A sudden movement behind you and all the eyes staring past you assure you in your heart that it is the former one. "Your lads do not seem to find that funny, Kare." A voice not too deep but certainly somewhere right under the surface with a weight that can be felt in your bones, speaks from right behind you, freezing you where you stand. It takes some time for you to turn around and look at the source of the voice. And once you do, you realise how tall this man stands. His pale skin is radiant and his features sharp. You could draw straight lines just by referencing his cheekbones. His black hair- perhaps the only one with black hair in this cosplay fair- is neatly braided in braids at each side and the rest of the hair left open. What shampoo does he use? "I pity your mother and sister," this man continues, "for meeting your lads in an alley someday and being asked the same question." He does not stir his gaze from Kare, constantly piercing through that man's existence without so much as a smile. "Apologies, your grace." Your grace? You turn to watch Kare and his buddies drop their heads down and then it hits you. Your grace?!!! Your head whips around with the air of surprise as you watch this man in a new light. I mean, yeah, he kinda looks like a...'your grace'. "It is not me you should be apologising to." He doesn't even blink. He is as stoic as a boulder and everyone here revolves around him. "Apologies...my lady." The words bring you out of the trance that this man's face has created for you and you turn to watch Kare bow to you along with his 'lads'. "Ansa!" the man calls out for someone, finally turning to look at you. You have to catch your breath when those green eyes bore into you, the stare not too piercing and neither too soft. Just balanced. But damn the skies for it is making you lose your balance somewhere inside you. "Yes, my lord," the familiar lady comes out of the crowd to stand before him with her head low. "How is the weather today?" He simply puts the question. Within seconds you realise what the question really is about. You try your best to stand still in this chilly weather despite the sun high in the sky but it is as if he can smell the chill off you. "It's cold my l-" she realises it too, running to the nearest tent to grab a fur coat just like her Lord's and put it gently on your shoulders. "My apologies, my lady. Apologies, my lord." "Are the armies ready for the west front, Aren?" "Yes, your grace. Two battalions are ready to march to the mountains. They wait for my signal." Aren, a tall ginger with soft features gives a warm smile when you look in his direction. "Very well. Go for it then." And with that command, Aren walks to the space vacating in front of you, spreads his arms and transforms into an eagle to fly up and away beyond the nearest mountain. You are left with your jaw unhinged as you try to make sense of what just happened, turning towards the man in charge here; all the while pointing at the sky. "H-how?" "Walk with me..." that commanding voice a couple of minutes ago has transformed into a soft tone that captures a completely different personality of this man. "Y/N." "Y/N," he repeats the name as if to memorise it, and lets his arm gesture you towards the direction you are asked to walk. "I am Loki, of Asgard. Pleased to make your acquaintance." "Asgard?" you wonder the name out loud, confusion visibly dripping from your face. "There is no place by the name Asgard on the maps? Is this further north in the Alps? Wait...are we still in Norway or did we change countries?" The guards by the biggest tent make way for Loki and you to enter. Unlike the place you woke up in, this one houses everything fit for a king. From the bed to the cutlery. And everything has a colour theme going on for some reason. A real deep shade of green. Even Loki's fur coat carries blues and greens as if they had been specially plunged from the deepest corners of the oceans on earth. "Y/N-" he gestures you to sit down on the settee by the foot of the bed while he pours you wine in a goblet- "I have to tell you something. Be kind enough to hear me out before jumping to conclusions." You take the glass from his hand and sit down on the settee. Oh! cold hands! Is he okay? It's really chilly out there. "What?" You wait for him to start. Loki stands by the conference table and faces you, his hands working with each other as he looks at them before finally letting his gaze meet yours. "You are no longer on earth. You were transported to Asgard last night during the Pagan ritual, where you were conveniently made a sacrifice, and would have died if not for Agni hearing your prayers and tearing that scum apart." Silence. Lokiâs features show no emotions when he narrates the reality to you. In fact, he waits for a reaction from your end, carefully studying those y/e/c eyes as they blink at him in unadulterated innocence, turn away to look at Agni and then come back to him. Ultimately, you take a sip from the goblet, letting the wine go down your throat, the involuntary reflex of tasting something not to your liking naturally coming over your face. Waiting for a few seconds, you bring the goblet back to your lips, this time gulping down the contents within a breath. "Okay." Loki looks at you with a focused glare before tilting his head a little. "Okay?" You nod. "Are you-" Loki pauses to come and sit down in the chair right in front of you but at a respectable distance- "okay with everything that I just told you? All the parts of it that do not make sense to a human?" You breathe in a lungful. "Oh, Gods! No. I am overwhelmed at this point. To even consider the fact that I am not currently on earth and that I was about to be raped by an eighteen-year-old cultist if not for your wonderful doggo and you, I am considering. Because now that I look at you I completely put you in the silhouette I saw last night. And I thought this was some adult dress-up show going on until a legit person just turned into an eagle and fucking flew away right in front of my eyes. I mean...it would take a good amount of CGI to actually make that happen just in the movies, forget real life. And if I am not on earth, the thought of getting out of doing mindless labour because your boss is an asshole is very appealing, mind you. Even though that means I have been thrown straight into a pit of testosterone-filled sexist Vikings who look like they will pounce on me the first chance they get. So...yeah. I am...I...uhh...have decided to shut my brain down till-" you simply shrug before breaking into nervous laughter and bringing the empty goblet back to your lips, raising it as far as it could go before it decided to release a drop into your desperate mouth. Loki blinks at you before breaking into a smirk that he hides from your eyes. It feels like he has watched you slowly crumble a little within the last few moments when all you did was talk. He has noticed those shaking hand movements and those trembling lips that force a smile to show they are doing absolutely fine. He has observed that shift of your fingers to scratch an itch on your exposed neck and that movement of turning that sole ring made out of iron in your index finger; hiding your anxieties in the rotations of that little circle. And now he watches you trying to dissolve the incoming anxious winds in alcohol. He knows this look too well. The look of fear; fear of the unknown. Loki raises his hand to you. "Allow me to refill that. With something better." You watch his hands and make a mental note of those long pale fingers and how good they would seem wrapped around anything. "Something better? I don't think Asgard could provide me with a Long Island Iced Tea or a Jeager Bomb. Or a Zombie." Loki simply chuckles and you find yourself stuck on that toothed smile of his. Is he the same guy who was dragging his soldiers in the mud like anything? Taking the goblet from you, he gets up and walks towards a little cabinet that opens up like a medieval bar. "I sympathise with you being so far away from home. But I can assure you these...Vikings will not touch you or even think about pouncing on you ever." You furrow your brows and let your arms rest on each side while you tilt your head a little in question. "They know it better than to even think about what I claim as mine." You feel little chills go up your spine at his words, your legs going one over the other as you wiggle away certain scenarios from your mind. Damn! He should write dialogues for the entertainment industry. "Excuse me, sir," you press while raising your brow, "I may have fallen on your royal highness' land but that ain't making me anyone's property...considering this is your property." You cannot see it from where you sit, but the God chuckles at your audacity of raising your voice at him. He comes back to you with your drink. You notice that this time it is not the familiar red wine waiting for you in the goblet but something relatively darker and comparatively with a more medicinal odour. "No one will harm you. Agni will make sure of it. Isn't that right, beast?" You turn to watch Agni sitting right next to your feet, immediately wagging his tail at the mention of his name, contently growling as assurance. You notice how familiar this creature look to the Pitbulls back on earth. Give them pits some pointed skeleton for their backbone, a pair of horns and huge canines and these two breeds will be a copy of each other. "And we will find you a safe passage home once we reach back to the city." Home. unfortunately for you, the first thing at the mention of 'home' is the rush of crude flashbacks from last night of that horrid nameless town. No matter how hard you try to breathe in, the scenes keep on coming. Both Loki and Agni seem to sense the uneasiness creeping onto you. Your racing heartbeat and uneasiness of breath can be heard by them as clear as you can. "I hope you were not too attached to your clothes. I had to tear them apart to treat your wounds," Loki announces, gulps his herbal drink and walks towards the entrance of the tent. "Yeah, no problem. They were just clo-wait what? WHAT? You-" you get up and lower your voice for the fear of any third person hearing it- "you tore my clothes?" He nods with the most neutral expression you wanted to punch. "Yes. As you mentioned, they were just clothes. And nothing I haven't seen before. Now come on." You wonder whether to be relieved or angry with this one. Putting that thought on the back burner to simmer for a while, you gulp down the goblet without breaking any eye contact with him. "Where are we going?" "To get you out of your clothes again," he states without skipping a beat and you have to question all the good you have thought about him till now. Son of a bitch! What an ass- "You stink. About time you took a bath."

I love your art, it is very detailed in a neat way. Was wondering how you got started making it as a source of income? How did you get your first paid work, I'd love some advice on how to get started, if that's ok
Thank you. Of course it's okay, although I doubt I have enough work experience in art to really delve into this. I only went full freelance this year, and had been juggling art as a side hobby until then. If you're still interested in my somewhat narrow perspective, and are okay with my long-winded rambles, I'll give it a shot:
So to answer your question fully, I'll describe how I started and move into personal advice and learnings later on. As a disclaimer, I am a white cishet dude in my late twenties with a moderate cocktail of mental illnesses, but overall I can pass for a functioning adult so a lot I have to say may come laced with privilege I cannot fully identify.
So uhh I began drawing in around 2012? I think? Maybe halfway through 2011? And I mostly made fanart for things I enjoyed and tried to branch out in communities that felt nourishing to my style and interests (I caught a bug for alt posters and enjoyed mainstream movies so I spent a long time on posterspy early on). There were a handful of opportunities that came from there but I could only accept a couple because of primary workplace commitments. Still, it showed that networking in a focused community was definitely a good place to start; I myself have huge trouble committing to social networks and really staying socially active, but I knew it was an essential ingredient in succeeding so I tried to make myself be involved in challenges and art support trains etc. as much as I could.
In parallel to all that I also ran a few third party online stores (redbubble, teepublic) for disposable income and would sometimes, if rarely, hit around $100-150 a month from those sources combined. It is a sort of thing that requires helper accounts on other social media sites to promote it on, because the stores themselves have a huge volume of content that translates into low organic discoverability. Obviously it was never gonna be the way towards financial independence through art, and with community projects being few and far between, I opened private commissions in around uhhh 2017 I think, focusing on offering a few styles I knew I could do well, and sometimes operating in individual fandoms (it was mostly a bioware thing to be frank). But I had to close them back down after a year or so, again because of work-life conflict and how badly it was burning me out. The reason I kept trying to monetize this hobby is because I honestly hated what I did for my main job and wanted to see a way out in some shape or form in the future.
And then in 2020 I had to quit my main job altogether because of *gestures at pandemic* and deal with a mental breakdown from all the wonderful things it did to us and me specifically. I took a short break and decided to give art a shot full-time, and that was around May this year. I was planning on opening up commissions again (and I still am), but a few sudden opportunities that fell in my lap moved that timetable down and now I'm grateful to even be doing something I am getting adequately paid for.
So, with that somewhat limited perspective, here's what I've learned that I'd tell myself if I was just starting out:
1. Being a fan of something can be a shortcut towards effective networking kickoffs. Which are important evidently. If you love something and enjoy making content for it, join communities, settle into a combination of social media websites that feel right for those interests + your body of work + your inner rhythm, and try to play to content discovery as much as your mental health allows you to. Like I said, I know that I myself am incredibly bad at self-motivating to talk to people, so I found that synergizing common interests into fanart - which I enjoyed making anyway - could be a way to give myself a gentle nudge forward and build those bridges leading to community activities, which then net experience and coverage. Sometimes even freelance projects from official avenues. Again; picking the right spaces for what you're after is key. Companies roam twitter, concept art recruiters scour artstation or linkedin etc, instagram can land you private commissions and collab opportunities, so on and so forth. Find your niche and try to kick up dust. However...
2. I do not believe that any social profile can replace a good portfolio. The thing that made an immediate difference to me this year was building a coherent, simple website with my best work front and center and a contact form on top. Every single opportunity I got came from that form (maybe via twitter or instagram initially, but always sealing the decision after going through the website), so I firmly believe that showcasing your skills and portfolio in a visually arresting and user-friendly way is a big priority. I had some reservations about tackling that task but fortunately I had help from a savvy life partner and we slapped it together via wordpress in less than a day. Twitter/whatever social media is prevalent in your target groups is definitely important to get the right eyes on your shit, yes, but those eyes will then look for a second stop where your work and rates are more clear and concise. Simplicity is key imo, I cannot overstate this. So make a cute, simple portfolio!
3. Your skills and rates will grow and change as you do. Let them. Over the years I built several lasting professional relationships from my obsession over mass effect and kept getting opportunities both from bioware and their partner companies, some small and some a bit bigger. A one-off job earlier this year opened an unexpected door to another much larger commitment, and then the work I did there brought some attention from small businesses looking for commercial commissions. These were all incredibly different projects in terms of scope and budget, and I've been tackling them all on a case-by-case basis and slowly coming into my own irt my needs, rates, and SOW thresholds. It is still a work in progress (and a LOT of literal work as well), and very much a thing I struggle with in publicly marketing, which is why I felt a tad underqualified to answer your question in the first place (obviously I did not let that stop me). But what it means for me now is that I am rapidly developing into whatever my "version" of a functioning freelance artist is, and when the conditions for that guy are met, I need to be able to confidently plant myself and operate from that space despite past precedents. Do not let anyone bully you into downpricing what you yourself perceive as legitimate products of personal growth and development. Speaking of which...
4. The shitty challenge of turning envy into inspiration, and paddling outside your comfort zones in full riot gear. it is hard, but realizing that being a miserable, self-hating artist in my early days got me nothing but more misery back was the first real step I took and what truly blew the hinges off. I was just not pleasant to be around, I would badmouth my work all the time, and it all somehow made sense in my broken mind because the validation I sought was purely external and the way I sought it was through eliciting sympathy via self-victimization (even when I made something objectively nice). It all led fucking nowhere. Except perhaps to my own narcissism that I one day managed to identify and start managing. So I started looking at things that made me seethe with envy and calmly deconstruct and figure out their inner workings instead, do studies, and find nuggets of inspiration or discover new ways to approach rendering or building up specific elements. It was an application of analytical diligence to what I wanted to be a purely emotional, esoteric workflow, but that I deep down knew wasn't. Art is a discipline and a skill, and maybe it isn't a straight line, but you gotta find some line to thread nevertheless. Being self-hating was almost an identity I had to break out of, and despite it still being like, 4-5% there? I realize its cause and effect on me, my work, and those around me, so it is with a conscious choice that I gently set it aside when I work and especially when I learn. It won't always stay quiet, but the effort is the difference. Your doors towards accepting true growth and venturing into uncharted territories, art styles, and networking will really open from there. But there's a huge caveat...
5. Toolsets, accessibility, privilege, and all the good things that enable artistic expression and profitability are not given equal to all. you might do all the mental work I mentioned to be ready to rock and roll and learn and draw your way out of anything, but digital art is a fucking money pit that asks almost too much at times. I don't got a good case study here but identifying and ensuring accessibility to the tools you need to do your best work is, like, super important. The ergonomics can improve as you make money and settle into the job, but the basics have to be made available to you. And some of that might not even be under your direct control. That can be anything from pen tablets to software subscriptions to opportunities in hiring sullied by sexism or what have you. You gotta navigate all that through careful networking and money/time management. I don't do a good job of devoting specific slices of time to work/study, and my primary clutch is iPad software which went from a good deal to a nightmare scenario over the years. So all I can say here is do what I didn't; network, invest in a PC/tablet, and pick a software you'll learn that won't burn a hole in your pocket.
6. Be nice to work with? This one is hard to articulate and has landed my own ass in hot water in my early years because of how socially inept I am, but nothing is more worthwhile than being.. like. a good person to work with. That can be anything like meeting deadlines, or sometimes missing them but eloquently articulating why, being generous in early stages, being communicable and not too wordy in your emails, having a good grasp on abstract artistic concepts and how to describe them in simple terms, having a clear, laid out framework of your working rates in commercial and non-commercial projects and sticking to those guns with grace, understanding when you need to say no and saying it well, the works. Just being nice. Sometimes that might mean going headstrong with something you believe in, or simmering down and sucking up to the big man, all relative and adaptive. Part and parcel of the service provision dance that we all have to do in order to make bank. Know your lines here, obviously, and don't like. work for nazis. or uh.. *shudders* exposure. but be nice and empathetic and communicable and word will travel eventually. Skill may be in abundance these days, but good people are most certainly not, and capitalism has a way of bubbling up scarcity. Grim, but uh, them's the breaks.
I know I'm ultimately telling you to like. Have a body of work, make a portfolio, grow, and network. But that's really how I see it for now. And being nice can be a cherry on top that sets you apart, along with the inherent irreplaceable voice of your artwork. I think I rambled on enough, but if there is something specific you need my help with, even if you want to come off anon and talk in private, please feel free.

Ring Analysis Part 1: Synchronizingâ How It Works and What It Tells Us About Ring
...As well as the world he lives in. Our buddy Ring may explain very little about himself, but he doesnât need to if youâre payingâobsessiveâattention to detail.
(Gameplay spoilers up to World 20 under the cut.)
For a mechanic thatâs important enough to merit a cutscene, and then goes on to envelop every part of the game, âsynchronizingâ gets a handful of lines before itâs never explicitly brought up again.
So letâs go over this scene.
âSynchronizingâ is, at first glance, a simple exchange of traits. Thatâs not entirely wrong. Trainee does physically take on characteristics specific to Ring, like the flaming hair, and Ring does gain access to her heartbeat reading, sort of like a living stethoscope.
But what syncing actually is, is a symbiotic relationship. Itâs both participants ârecalibratingâ themselves to the other as best as each of them are able. For a flesh-and-blood partner thatâs not built for syncing, this means physically changing to become something a little closer to Ring. (More on that later.) For Ring, a magical being designed with the extra sensory input in mind, it invisibly grants him access to the otherâs most invaluable resource: their exercise energy.
Like synchronizing, âexercise energyâ is another lovely concept that was mentioned once and then never again. So much so that Iâve been accidentally calling it âfitness energyâ for weeks and am still trying to correct my reflexes.
But exercise energy is everything. If all it takes is a simple read of a heartbeat to jumpstart a sync bond, exercise energy is the glue that cements it together. Because Ring and Trainee donât stop being synced whenever theyâre not physically touching. They separate all the time. They can put a little distance between themselves and still be at the height of synchronization, even. But letâs take a step back for a moment, and talk about that âphysically changing to become something a little closer to Ringâ aspect.
Say that Trainee is doing a leg move at peak performance. Her hair is flaring up. Her legs are glowing that same yellowish hueâbecause theyâre full of exercise energy. Thatâs what that is. Thatâs what it must be. Itâs what Ring himself is partially made of, seeing as the same stuff flows through his veinlike tubes. Seriously. Look at this. Itâs the same goddamn color.
I canât understate how incredibly important exercise energy is. To synchronizing, to Ring, and to literally everything else. Exercise energy is a type of life energy. In the world of Ring Fit, itâs in everything, everywhereâin varying levels of purity and concentration. When Trainee is performing a fit skill, she almost seems to absorb a mystical...something... from the open air around her, as she charges up a skill. Thin lines of light streak towards her as she lights up, not away. See for yourself.
Trainee isnât a normal inhabitant of âPlanet Fitness.â She doesnât know how to manipulate exercise energy very well on her own. It looks like being synced with Ring has made her somewhat biologically closer to being made of exercise energy herself, and with that? The slight ability to absorb it from the air around her. Itâs a really small thing, likely just a tiny boost of power sheâs drawing in from her surroundings (and returning right back after a move is complete). But itâs there. Itâs visibly happening. With one exception, this doesnât occur outside of a fit battle. And that makes sense. A fit skill taking more energy than an air blast is very reasonable. Those crates littering the place are a lot less hardy than...whatever you would classify Monsters as.Â
I mentioned an exception. Here it is:
Victory posing is such an odd little tradition, isnât it? Itâs unskippable; Ring always insists on it. And at first glance, his instructions are weird. âPull in energy from the groundâ sounds a bit like nonsense...except in this shot, Trainee is actually standing on a glowing platform full of Exercise Energy. (Yes, thatâs what that is.) The moment sheâs done charging her squat power, thin lines of light streak upwardsâ some into Trainee. And when she raises her arms, she expels all that excess energy into the open air. You can watch the process here.
And thatâs where most of the EXP from victory posing comes fromâfrom the well of exercise energy humming beneath her feet.
Exercise energy is life energy in constant motion. Itâs created (for a lack of a better word) constantly as the body moves and burns calories. Itâs also expelled constantly, and this is most visible when Trainee works out. It is not, under any circumstances, meant to be trapped in the body forever. But the act of having possessed any of it at all gives Trainee EXP, a byproduct, which can be kept forever.
âââ
Ring says in the initial cutscene, âThe more you exercise, the more synchronized weâll be!â The more Trainee exercises, the more exercise energy her body holds at time. The more exercise energy she holds, the more alike she and Ring are in that very moment. The more alike they areâthe more in sync they are.
âââ
The two way connection created by synchronizing is closer to a metaphysical fusion of both participants than a simple trade off. Ringâs powers are (almost but not quite) Traineeâs powers. Traineeâs body is (almost but not quite) Ringâs body. Itâs both easy and hard to see where oneâs work stops and the otherâs begins. So letâs lay down some quick facts.
One! In terms of powersâeverything Ring and Trainee can do together, Ring can do alone. Itâll be weaker. But he can do it. Heâs got his own supply of exercise energy and heâs a master at manipulating it. Ring is not helpless; you are.
Two! The glowing limbs you fight with in a fit battle belong to Ringânot Trainee. Here are even some screen caps of Ring vaguely referring to them both. (Itâs even in all-important blue text.)
Three! Ring is always actively contributing to your fit battles. He is never just counting reps or giving tips. As Trainee charges up a fit skill, Ring is constantly channeling the resulting energy into powering up his battle constructs. He is actively aiming said constructs for you, always.
In the case of specific fit skills, where Ringâs battle constructs immediately appear as buff as can beâitâs because Trainee is helping. A lot of what these instances have in common is the fact that the fit skills in question are less... involved?
Imagine being Trainee, and trying to keep a good aim on the enemy as you do the Mountain Climber move. (Or even squats. I do too many of those and I start disconnecting from reality.) The Ring Raise move, on the other hand, is gentler and gives Trainee a clear, unobstructed view of the enemy throughout the whole exercise. It gives her the wiggle room to try her hand at manipulating her own exercise energy directly.
With Ring and Trainee working together, the charge-up effect is therefore instantaneous.
Four! Canonically, despite the two of them being synced, Ring can shut off Traineeâs access to his powers at any time. Thatâs because, for them to work in the first place, Ring must be consciously activating them. In some animations at the start of a course, Trainee stretches by pulling on him at both ends. This should summon a suction vortex. But it doesnât. Because Ring knows Trainee is just doing a pre-run stretch.
It explains why you canât summon a Mega Ab Guard whenever you feel like it; only when Ring suggests it. Or why you canât just suck up tokens in mini games like Dreadmill (Ring is too honest to help you cheat). Yes, itâs a game mechanic thing. But itâs a mechanic that Ring canonically controls. Trainee absolutely cannot use any of his abilities without his explicit consent. And thatâs probably why she hasnât accidentally killed somebody in combat yetâRing is super careful. (Heâs a professional, you know.)
âââ
Now that we have a better understanding of what exercise energy is and a better grasp on how Ring worksâletâs circle back one more time to that âphysically changing to become something a little closer to Ringâ aspect. Because thereâs one last insane thing we skipped over.
Trainee is initially the baseline in our understanding of what exercise energy looks like in a human being. Her yellow-orange flames are our constant companionâand therefore we get misled, because Trainee is an outlier. She is synced to Ring, and Ring is extraordinary. So sheâs not a good example of the average person.
But in this case, despite being a literal master, Guru Andma is.
Guru Andma, âthe balance master,â is the only other human character we see using attacks consisting of all three muscle groups. Her fight is a wealth of knowledge in of itself. When she flexes her arms, they fill with RED energy. When she flexes her abdomen, it fills with YELLOW energy. When she flexes her leg, it fills with BLUE energy. This is the standard for human beings. This is normal.
What this implies then, is that synchronizing with Ring has overwritten Traineeâs original energy signature. Ringâs energy is decidedly NOT human. Itâs not even fit-skill yellow; it looks close, but itâs really something else entirely. Ring of course can convert Traineeâs energy into traditional reds, yellows, and blues for a fight. (Or at least, he can fake it if he doesnât have his Color Coding ability. He once mimicked the flames of Dark Influence early on in the game; some superficial color editing is not above him.)
But yeah. Traineeâs energy is now definitely abnormal.
And yet the process didnât seem to put her in any physical pain? I really doubt Ring would have sprung that on her if it did. (I mean, he still should have asked for permission first.) Iâd wager the effects of syncing, as deep as are, arenât permanent once the bond is dissolved. What Ring is doingââsynchronizingââis somehow, simultaneously, extremely mystical and yet completely natural.
âââ
Last segment, before I let you go.
For a long time, I wondered: what are the prerequisites, that denote syncing potential? Not impressive muscles, Iâm sure; itâs heavily implied Dragaux once synced with Ring, and he was infamously skinny. Could the general attitude of a person play a role, if Ringâs energy is pure positive exercise energy? Or could it be genetic? Maybe even entirely random?
I wasnât sure until I fought the four masters, and especially after fighting Guru Andma.
Iâll bet you anything that thereâs something inherently flexible about Trainee, for a human. Something more malleable, and therefore more amenable to undergoing the dramatic changes of a sync bond. And Iâll bet you further that it has something to do with the fact that Trainee had zero previous experience wielding exercise energy at the start of the game.
Because Ring tells Trainee she has potential right after identifying that sheâs new.
(The less developed a person is initially, the easier it could be to sync with Ring. Whereas a person with more intensive training would be incompatible.)
And if youâre still convinced that Ring was just impressed with her musclesâplease remember that Ring is not human, and does not experience life through the same lens. Itâs implied he can âseeâ energy with more than just his eyes. Itâs how you can drop him in a new temple in an unfamiliar land and heâll still be able to tell Trainee when sheâs close to the finish line. (He forgot what static stretching was that one time. He does not have these floor plans memorized.) To him, those glowing wells at the end are like straight up beacons.
He was absolutely examining her energy.
âââ
To Ring, syncing probably isnât worth writing an entire essay about. Itâs natural to him, instinctive. Itâs Ring making a promise to watch over someone, and to have their back as they will have his. And I think thatâs beautiful. Frustrating to my curiosity, but beautiful.
âââ
TLDR; Synchronizing is a metaphysical bond sustained through Exercise Energy, a substance mentioned once in World 1 that encompasses the whole game. It exists everywhere in everything, in different variations of intensity and purity. Ring especially is partially made of exercise energy. Itâs the glowing stuff in his tubes. Thereâs more, but thatâs the gist of it. DISCLAIMER: This is for fun! I just wanted to try my hand at explaining how the magical sentient Pilates ring works. I feel pretty strongly about my conclusions, but Iâll go back and edit this if/when/where applicable. Thank you for reading.

SO, Episode 28 of Word of Honor was a roller-coaster ride.
(Spoilers, as ever, so scroll away and come back later if you want to see it unspoiled.)
They managed two entirely separate scenes in this one that had me going âDid ⌠did that just happen? Is this really happening?â Letâs get this one out of the way first: The scene of Zhao Jing in his serial killer lair with the altar and memorial tablets and his serial killer trophies. Yâall. I swear, scene opens with a shot from behind of drunk Awful Yifu in his Fantasy Ancient China underwear staggering through a set of doors into a room with candles and draperies, and before I was able to register the rest of the set design, my brain gave a terrified squeak and started rabbiting around like, âOh my god, please do not let this be Xieâerâs bedroom. Oh my god, they wouldnât actually go there, not even hinted, surely that would be too far!â Then my eyeballs caught up and registered the set, so I thought I was safe, but that didnât even turn out to be the moment in the scene that had me going âIs this really happening?â (Although I do think the fact my brain immediately jumped to that scenario speaks to the creepy vibe the show has managed to build between Awful Yifu and Xie Wang). So, Zhao Jing is a sloppy drunk and absolutely shitfaced, stumbling around and yelling at his dead brothers, and Iâm sitting here watching him, feeling like I need a shower, with my skin a little bit trying to crawl off my body, and then he picks up Rong Xuanâs memorial tablet and pours an entire stream of alcohol out of the pitcher all over it, and I say, out loud, to the screen, âOh my god, they just had him figuratively piss on that tablet.â Only, no, they didnât, because there was no need to have him do it figuratively because then, he literally whips it out of his pants and takes a piss on the tablet, complete with sound effects, and Iâm open-mouthed, thinking âIs this really happening?â As some background, I grew up in mainstream U.S. culture where ancestor veneration isnât formally practiced - although it isnât an entirely absent part of our cultural mythos, itâs just that now when I when I offer cultus to the Patres Patriae, itâs deliberate and intentional â but Iâve been doing ancestor work in my particular flavor of polytheism for long enough, and intensely enough, that I had a visceral reaction of disgust and horror to this. Hand literally clapped over my mouth in shock, even after watching all of his ranting at his dead brothers and spitting at his dead shifu and just generally being a disrespectful asshole with delusions of grandeur building up to it. So, yes, show, you have indeed convinced me that Awful Yifu is the worst, even in an episode that also devoted that much screentime to Prince Jin.
Fortunately, the other âIs this really happening?â moment was at the other end of the spectrum, somewhere in the face of how married Zhou Zishu and Wen Kexing are, which I cannot believe passed censorship. I know I keep saying that, but every time I think Iâve adjusted to how far theyâre going to go, the show laughs gay-ly as it pushes the envelope another mile down the road. Truly, this show is the gift that keeps on giving where these two are concerned, and not just because of Zhang Zhehanâs face. I realize I had to spend 50 episodes deciphering Lan Wangjiâs smallest microexpression (not that Iâm complaining), but I canât believe how expressive both Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun are in these roles, with Gong Junâs little sadness eyebrows when WKX wants ZZS to humor him, and how soft Zhang Zhehanâs face gets when ZZS looks at WKX, and how great they both are at making all this look like a pair of adults who are in an established relationship and confident of each other. Iâd be as weak as Wen Kexing if Zhou Zishu pouted at me the way he does when he tells Chengling that he canât do anything to help decorate the Manor except observe and direct because heâs oh, so injured and frail, poor him. Wen Kexing can laugh at Zhou Zishu when ZZS pokes at him by saying the papercrafter was such a beauty! (Compare this to his reaction back in the day, when ZZS deftly manipulated him out of bringing A-Xiang along on their honeymoon adventures by calling her a beauty and implying she might draw attention away from WKX!) Wen Kexing waves kitchen knives at Zhou Zishu in (somewhat fond) exasperation! Zhou Zishu now accepts Wen Kexing piling his plate with food at the table as perfectly normal! Thereâs no crying in Spring Festival! They send their kid outside to watch the fireworks so they can have sex some alone time! (Merciless killers. How the fuck so adorable?) Someone must have backed up an entire truckful of money to the house of someone very important to get this aired, because what is the heterosexual explanation for ⌠any of this?
Other thoughts:
We continue to get small things that maintain the parallels between Wen Kexing/Zhou Zishou and Gu Xiang/Cao Weining, including the mirrored theme of finding a home with a welcoming family, shown through family dinner, and expressed through WKXâs description of his former self as a âlonely ghost,â echoing A-Xiangâs self-description (to Shen Shen in an earlier ep) the same way.
HAN YING! Listen, I am stupidly attached to this bit player, and not just because heâs a familiar face (because half of Wen Xuâs screentime in The Untamed was just a disembodied head hanging at the entrance to the Unclean Realm, so itâs not like there was time to get ⌠attached). And I say stupidly attached because ever since we first saw the way he looked at ZZS with big puppy heart-eyes, I knew he was going to be a goner. I just know theyâre gonna fridge him for the next step in ZZSâs journey, because something has to pry ZZS out of Four Seasons Manor, as much as I, personally, would like nothing better than to see 8 more episodes of wedded bliss for two gay dads and their son. (OK, one thing I would like better would be if their daughter and son-in-law came to live with them, too.) At least it looks like Han Ying will get to die taking a figurative bullet for ZZS, which will make him happy and might prevent him from finding out the Glazed Armor heâs so proud of bringing is actually pointless, because donât think that didnât hurt to know while I watched him being so proud of managing to get his hands on it. But Iâd prefer he didnât die at all, show. Also, why on earth are there only two (completed) stories under the ZZS/Han Ying label on AO3? Because yes, I have looked. I have the search open in another tab right now. Why havenât more people taken advantage of this guyâs utter devotion for ZZS? How are people looking at the way Han Ying reverently brushes his fingers over the single white blossom on the wall mural in ZZSâs rooms back in Prince Jinâs palace and not falling all over that?
Xieâer, oh, Xieâer. Youâre killing me, here. I need someone to rescue you, you desperate affection-starved little sociopath. So, to recap, last time we met, your Awful Yifu finally let it slip that he was never ever going to acknowledge your existence in public. So now, youâre being a very clever boy, setting up a scheme to manipulate him into having to publicly acknowledge you if heâs going to claim credit for your successes (because Iâm sure you canât even contemplate failure) in service to Prince Jin. So clever, but I hate to tell you, youâre clever at everything except learning from your mistakes when it comes to your Awful Yifu. You really learned nothing from Beauty Ghost, did you? Ugh, your sad little face as you watch your hot mess of an Awful Yifu while you wait for the maids to make tea â it hurts me. Please tell me youâre playing some kind of long game, and youâre just a really great actor. Because heâs sloppy drunk, and right now, watching your face journey, I think maybe you think that makes what heâs saying true â that heâs not guarding his words, and he means it when he tells you that of course he loves you and would never leave you. âAre you still angry with me?â Awful Yifu literally asks. âAlright, Iâll apologize. I was just mad. It didnât mean anything. Weâre together in this. Iâll always stand by you.â Xieâer, you have got to stop believing gaslighting abusive men who shovel that BS. This is what they call the honeymoon period in the cycle of abuse. Seriously. This is textbook. Please stop making the same mistakes over and over again. Maybe think about the fact that your Awful Yifu is, single-handedly, the reason the Department of the Unfaithful actually exists in the first place. He is THAT AWFUL. I would like to think actually seeing his serial killer trophy room will make a difference, now that you have some confirmation of what Tragicomic Ghost told you and not the ability to wave it off as part of some he-said, she-said situation where how could we ever possibly know the truth, despite the fact that Zhao Jing has shown heâll stab anyone in the back in his quest for power? But, then, I also thought maybe learning last ep that he never planned to publicly acknowledge you would make some kind of difference. Are you going to roll the dice again, gambler? Because Iâll tell you right now, the house always wins. (Not that youâd listen to me anymore than you listened to Beauty Ghost.)
(Also, wait wait waitwaitwait. Waitaminit. This is pure speculation and probably way too out there to be true (oh, but, someoneâs going to write this AU for me, right?) Hot-mess drunk yifu tells Xieâer that theyâve been depending on each other âever since I picked you up and brought you back home.â I canât remember if we know anything about Xie Wangâs background at this point, but it does sound like Zhao Jing might have literally yoinked him off the street to raise him. He ⌠he doesnât think Xieâer is actually Yanâer, does he? Only he kidnapped the wrong orphaned urchin by mistake? Iâm just sayinâ, thinking back to Shen Shenâs reaction to finding out Zhen Yan was still alive, it would be exactly the kind of thing Zhao Jing would do, to keep this kid that his brother(s) wanted to find hidden right under their noses.)
Chengling and the chicken. I canât, yâall. And Zhou Zishuâs face as soon as he realizes what Wen Kexing is telling Chengling to do â he knows this is going to be a show.
Prince Jin, you are almost as bad as Xieâr and his awful Yifu combined:
Prince Jin: Zhou Zishu, you mastermind, your super-secret spy network continues to spread everywhere, including into my very own palace. Oh, the things you must be plotting against me!
Zhou Zishu, chillinâ at Plum Blossom Manor, day-drinking, dressing up in pretty festive robes, taking advantage of his discipleâs unpaid labor so he doesnât have to raise a finger for himself, and providing his husband with sex so incredible he is never required to actually cook: âOK, my gay husband and our son-with-two-dads, how about we just stay here together forever and be happy?â
Also Prince Jin: *Creeps on Zhou Zishu like a gaslighting mâfker*
Anyway, if Prince Jin always knew what Han Ying was up to all along, is the letter about ZZSâs father a plant, with false info? It was just kind of suspiciously hanging out in the open on Prince Jinâs desk.

BnHA Chapter 296: Ngl, This One Pissed Me Off
Previously on BnHA: Deku was all, âp.s. I actually activated yet another quirk several chapters ago when Kacchan got stabbed.â Compress was all, â[gets captured and passes out].â Spinner was all â[rifles through Tomuraâs pockets and slaps a random Charbroiled Hand onto his friendâs unconscious face].â Tomura was all, âSOMEHOW THAT ACTUALLY WORKEDâ and woke up again, except it wasnât really him, it was everyoneâs favorite Final Villain, AFO. AFO was all, âtime to escape finallyâ and summoned a bunch of Noumu and Absconded with Spinner and the DabiMarble in tow. Skeptic was all, âHorikoshi forgot I existed, but Iâm actually Absconding in marble-form as well.â Deku was all, âATTENTION WORLD, I WOULD LIKE TO ANNOUNCE THAT I OFFICIALLY WANT TO SAVE SHIGARAKI TOMURA.â And then the arc just sort of ended lol.
Today on BnHA: Horikoshi is all, âbut when you think about it, do we really need literally any female teachers at U.A. at all?â and for whatever reason doesnât stop to wait for an answer. Midnight, who absolutely did not need to die, Dies, and Iâm pissed about it. Ochako wanders the ruins of Jakku for what feels like hours, rescuing small children while her adult hero compatriots fall to pieces around her, because apparently the U.A. kids really are the only people who have their shit together. The citizens of Japan are all âdamn thatâs wild, wonder how fucked we are now,â but are actually super casual and chill about it which is oddly realistic. The chapter ends with AFO in Tartarus being all âlol time for the prison break arc,â without giving us so much as a chance to catch our breath, like holy shit. Are we on the clock or something now, goddamn.
lmao itâs like 7pm on a Sunday night and this is out already. this is like the worst possible timing lol. there goes my nice, relaxed evening. unless of course this turns out to be a nice, restful, soothing chapter, as chapters coming on the heels of traumatic, earth-shattering battles so often are. yeah, break out the Pina Colada song and the little drink umbrellas, I got a good feeling about this one
(ETA: I mean, I was obviously being sarcastic here but damn, Horikoshi.)
-- fff why did I laugh
itâs the crumbling city ruins in the background that really does it, I think. JUST LOOK AT THIS MESS THAT YOU HAVE MADE, EVERYONE. FOR SHAME
also, the title is dramatic af and I am so fucking excited you guys, like holy shit. BnHAâs In-Between arcs have always been my favorite part of the series, because itâs when all the character development and angst and/or catharsis happens. just, those little breathing spaces in between the action when everyone gathers to recuperate and compartmentalize their fresh new traumas lmao. bring on that angst!! but also, letâs please have some Comfort to offset all of this Hurt too, please and thanks
blah blah blah so the survivors were evacuated, good good, can you actually show us though?
AHHHHHHH
PIXIE BOB SURVIVED!!!! WASH IS STILL ALIVE LMAO HOW. THIRTEENâS FACE, OMG SHOULD I LOOK AWAY. IS IT LIKE MANDALORIAN RULES. IDK HOW IT WORKS
HOW THE FUCK ARE THEY ALIVE. LOLS ANYWAY IâM HERE FOR IT. FEEL FREE NOT TO KILL ANYONE ELSE HERE HORIKOSHI, I THINK WEâRE GOOD
(ETA: itâs like talking to a brick wall.)
oh my god do we really need exposition about how the heroes tried to stop TomurAFO from escaping and OF COURSE failed completely because they suck lmao. oh my god I am shocked, that is such shocking news
wow they only managed to defeat three of the Noumus. holy shit. again, all of the Not-Kid Heroes are only slightly more useful than cardboard cutouts of heroes at this point, MORE AT ELEVEN
so Tomura may have lost the PLF, but he still more or less has an army then, huh. I really donât know how anyone could expect a timeskip with that threat looming over everyoneâs heads
oh nvm lol there are only seven Noumus left. wait so youâre telling me there were only ten Nearly High Ends in that last chapter?? felt more like fifty but whatever lol Iâll take your word for it
COMPRESS YAY YOUâRE ALIVE TOO
MAYBE THEY CAN EVEN REATTACH HIS ASS. IâM SERIOUS LOL, BECAUSE HE STILL HAS IT, DOESNâT HE? OR IF NOT, THEY CAN REBUILD HIM WITH A PROSTHETIC ASS. heâll be more powerful than ever
WHAAAAAAT YEAH BOIIIII
WOOO, EDGESHOT, WOOOOO. THATâS HIS WAY OF THE NINJA
YEAHHHHHÂ SUCK IT, PLF
(ETA: for the record I donât think Cementoss is dead here, just badly wounded. if he had died he would have been included in the forthcoming In Memoriam page along with the others.)
GET BENT LOL. TRUMPET I FOR REAL FORGOT YOU EVEN EXISTED. I NEVER WANT TO SEE ANY OF YOU LOSERS AGAIN PLEASE. ONLY INTERESTING CHARACTERS MAY PROCEED PAST THIS POINT
dsflksaldkh;l
thatâs... holy shit. thatâs a bigass mansion, thatâs what that is. also so does this mean there are still eighty thousand PLF members still at large, because thatâs a plot line I very much do not care about in any way whatsoever lol. canât we just retcon to say that Re-Destro was exaggerating? I mean hell, a CEO criminal pulling some Enron-type bullshit is pretty believable, isnât it? those poor bamboozled shareholders
âmakeste, hereâs an idea, what if you scrolled down to read the rest of the pageâ lol gtfo of here with your logic and your sense
well those 132 people have made it onto my enemies list, but at least it sounds like they more or less took care of the rest. good riddance
and Toga escaped, as we knew already, and is now on the lam. hopefully she reunites with the League again at some point. although her doing her own thing could also be very interesting. idk what I want lol
anyway so thereâs another big panel showing how fucked up the city is, just in case it hadnât already been hammered into our skulls yet. thereâs a car dangling off a roof somehow. how does that even happen. did Machia pick it up and put it there or
NOOO OMG RANDOM SMALL CHILDREN IN PERIL WHAT IS THIS
OCHAKO PLEASE SAVE THEM OMG
âif it falls on me, I want you to have my Endeavor pouchâ OH MY STARS. HIS MOST PRECIOUS POSSESSION. NO MY CHILD YOU CANâT GIVE UP HOPE YET
LMAO
âFOR THE LAST TIME NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR DUSTY-ASS POUCH, KYLEâ fffff these children are dying and I am cracking up so hard my eyes are tearing up what is wrong with me
YAY THEY SAVED THEM
but listen. not that I donât love seeing the girls kick ass, because you know I do. but I also really, REALLY need to know whatâs going down with the Musketeers, and Iâm not looking forward to waiting three whole weeks for that so please Horikoshi. please hurry this along so we can get to them
goddamn it Tsuyu is saying sheâll take the boy to the shelter to get first aid, and I was all âokay great because thatâs probably where Kacchan and the others are tooâ, but now someone else is shouting for help and Ochakoâs all âIâll goâ and itâs like OKAY BUT PLEASE? this chapter is already more than half over omfg. âbout to start wringing some hands here
oh my god
is this Toga again??? WHAT THE HELL, THIS CREEPYASS HALF-DEAD DUDE BETTER BE LEADING UP TO SOMETHING INTERESTING, I AM REALLY GETTING IMPATIENT
OR, I GUESS, WE COULD DO THIS INSTEAD
âSO AS IT TURNS OUT, NOT EVERY CHARACTER WHO NEEDS HELP SAVING THEIR SPOUSE FROM FALLEN RUBBLE IS ACTUALLY TOGA IN DISGUISEâ HUH, OKAY. DULY NOTED. FILED AWAY FOR FUTURE REFERENCE
but fucking... okay, look. I love Ochako, I do. but I like her a whole lot more when sheâs interacting with other characters I actually care about, as opposed to running around in the rubble rescuing random people while the fate of my other children is still up in the air. like okay, I get it, shitâs bad, now if you donât mind we really donât have to spend all day here though
...anyways but nope, weâre still staying with her. sheâs bouncing around rescuing all of these other people. omg. I literally have no patience here at all and itâs terrible, I know, but oh my god
omg finally something interesting is happening!!
look at that, an adult hero standing around being useless while the kids are busy getting shit done. why is this becoming a recurring theme
MY DUDE, THIS IS SERIOUSLY NOT THE TIME THOUGH
I GET THAT ITâS OVERWHELMING AND THAT YOUâRE TRAUMATIZED AND SHIT, BUT GUESS WHAT, SO IS EVERYONE ELSE. THATâS WHAT YOU SIGNED UP FOR. JUST LOOK AT OCHAKO! SHEâS SO EXHAUSTED HER HAIR HAS EVEN LOST ITS FLOOF, AND YET SHEâS STILL OUT HERE DOING HER BEST. ONE SAVE AT A TIME MY MAN. GET IT DONE. LITERALLY A SMALL CHILD IN THE BOTTOM RIGHT CALLING FOR THEIR MOMMY AND YOUâRE JUST STANDING THERE ALL âWAHH ITâS TOO MUCHâ LIKE COULD YOU PLEASE POSTPONE YOUR CRISIS UNTIL AFTER YOU SAVE THEM PLEASE
OH MY GOD
MAYBE YOU SHOULD!! oh my god I really cannot, like wow. oh no I actually have to save people and do my job, god forbid. jesus christ, at least the other heroes tried. but Moping Hero: Bellyache here is just throwing in the towel and fuck everyone who still needs his help I guess. you are like the anti-Deku my dude
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD NO OH FUCK
THATâS MIDNIGHTâS HAND OH FU -- SHE BETTER NOT -- HORIKOSHI I SWEAR TO GOD --
IâM GONNA LOSE IT I REALLY AM!!!!
HOLY SHIT HOW INTENSE OF A RAGE DO I NEED TO BRACE MYSELF TO BE FEELING HERE. THIS CHAPTER WAS ALREADY TRENDING TOWARDS DISAPPOINTMENT, DO WE REALLY NEED TO GO AND COMPOUND THAT
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON
youâre telling me Tomura wasnât brought back by that electric shock, but by his âfuck youâ attitude? why are you explaining this to us now, again??
......
HEY, SO UM, FUCK ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS, THOUGH. (: OH MAN. OHHHHHH MAN. I HAVE... I HAVE GOT A LOT OF WORDS FOR THIS AND HERE ARE SOME OF THEM
FUCK
THINGS THAT SHOULD BE IN THE DICTIONARY NEXT TO âSOME BULLSHITâ: THIS
FUCK
GET FUCKED HORIKOSHI
AND ALSO PLEASE FUCK RIGHT OFF!!
AND SERIOUSLY THOUGH FUCK YOU
NO BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THOUGH!! YOU COULD HAVE KILLED OFF ANYONE. LITERALLY ANY CHARACTER. YOU HAD TWELVE FEMALE PROS. TWELVE. YOU COULD HAVE MADE MORE OF THEM. PROBABLY, IF THERE ACTUALLY WERE SUPERHEROES IN REAL LIFE, THERE WOULD BE MORE THAN TWELVE OF THEM IN AN ENTIRE NATION. BUT NO, YOU WERE ALL âTWELVE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH.â AND THEN WHEN IT CAME TIME TO KILL PEOPLE OFF, YOU WERE ALL âWELL ALL RIGHT THEN, LETâS SEE, I PICK... THESE 18 RANDOM SIDE CHARACTERS WITH LITTLE TO NO DIALOGUE, PLUS THE ONE SINGLE FEMALE U.A. STAFF MEMBER WE ACTUALLY HAD. YEAH THAT OUGHTA DO ITâ
AND BY THE WAY, HORIKOSHI, I PICKED SOMETHING UP FOR YOU ON MY WAY HOME, HERE IT IS, âĐâ(ăťďźżăť) do you like it it was on sale. I saw it and was like, âHorikoshi would really like that.â so there you go. sorry it wasnât gift-wrapped
p.s. I hope yâall can tell that thatâs supposed to be a middle finger and not... something else lmao. er. anyway
(ETA: so I got a few asks from people who were really put off by this part of the reaction post, and so Iâm just adding an extra note here to make it clear that I do not actually wish harm on Horikoshi in any way or even particularly dislike him. I wasnât happy about Midnightâs death and I wanted to convey that, and so I went with my usual LOUD CAPSLOCK REACTION tone, but looking back on it I can see that itâs kind of a lot, lol.Â
so just to be clear, the âfuck youâ stuff is almost entirely tongue-in-cheek. thatâs on me, I forget sometimes that there are people who share these sentiments unironically and so I didnât think to make sure my intended meaning here was clear. anyways, killing Midnight was still a really problematic decision for numerous reasons but it is what it is. Horikoshi is not perfect, the story isnât perfect, and Iâm not gonna pretend like it is, but again just to be clear, I donât harbor any actual ill will toward Horikoshi here.)
shit. and wow this man really went and killed off fucking Mystic too on top of that. have you ever seen a character fail so spectacularly at living up to their hype. r.i.p. Mystic you were like the Star Wars sequel of characters
(ETA: I have no fucking idea why I keep thinking Majesticâs name is Mystic lol. rest in peace you old scarecrowy bastard.)
and poor Momo, though. fuck. lost two mentors in a single day. and do not even get me started on Aizawa holy shit
so now weâre cutting to some random townspeople who are gossiping about the Todoroki drama. this is actually interesting in spite of my newfound determination to hate this chapter lol
ngl I am kind of heartened to see that not everyone fell for Dabiâs bs hook line and sinker though. Jeanist returning from the dead literally two seconds after Dabi was all âI SWEAR ON MY HONOR AS A VILLAIN THAT HAWKS MURDERED HIMâ probably helped with that a bit! but there will doubtless be many other people who do believe him, or are at least still inclined to side-eye the heroes in general either way given how much they sucked in this arc. very, very interesting
so it seems though that even more than the whole Endeavor reveal, at the end of the day itâs going to be the heroes failing to live up to their end of the âput your faith in us and let us use our quirks and in return weâll protect everyone and keep them safeâ implied social contract thatâs going to have the biggest impact on peopleâs opinions moving forward. basically this was always going to be a disaster no matter what
OH MY GOD FINALLY AHHHHH
Horikoshi really tapped into some of the real-life political energy of the past few years huh. Fuck Him Still for killing off Midnight, but I will admit that so far this is hella intriguing and I am really, really curious to see where things go from here
OH MY GOD THE LITTLE KIDS FROM THE BABYSITTING ARC
âFIVE PEEPEE MAN WOULDNâT LIE TO USâ YES CHILDREN YOUâRE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. at least the little ones still have faith
UM
 ( â˘Ě 㸠â˘Ě )
thatâs great. thatâs really keen. all we need right now, amirite
GOOD FOR YOU, YOU PIECE OF SHIT
letâs just wait for him to explain what he feels. you know he likes to drag it out
is that Dabi crouched down there next to Spinner? looks like they got him out of the marble after all. but why has his hair changed colors again lol what
anyways. your turn to what??
:â) excuse me what
hahahaha are you fucking kidding me. and thatâs where weâre going to end the chapter then. lol okay
so letâs recap. Midnight died. we spent ten hours watching Ochako dig people out of rubble for no apparent reason and were then introduced to my new least favorite character, and because Ochako is so nice she didnât even punch him in the face even though she really should have. we did not get any Kacchan or Shouto. we got one panel of Deku, who is Finally Asleep. and the chapter ended with AFO ordering his Noumus to go set free, AND I QUOTE, HIS âMAIN BODY.â and now I gotta wait an entire week for Calebâs translation to confirm that last part. omg
but it sounds like a prison break is imminent, which is very, very interesting. ...and actually, is it weird that Iâm actually rooting for it to be a success? I have no idea what this guy is planning, but I do know that as long as the main part of his soul is still residing in Tomuraâs body, Tomuraâs chance of surviving the series is close to zero. and villain though he may be, Iâm still rooting for his redemption (nice to have Deku on my side now too), and so yeah. so like if AFO feels like using some latent Exorcism Quirk or something that heâs been saving for just such an occasion, be my guest lol
meanwhile this doesnât bode well for All Might though. or anyone else aside from Tomura, really. shiiiit
anyway. [slaps roof of chapter] this baby can fit so much bullshit in it
#bnha 296#midnight (bnha)#uraraka ochako#all for one#bnha#boku no hero academia#bnha spoilers#mha spoilers#bnha manga spoilers#makeste reads bnha#sorry this took so long to post lol#I really need to learn to add an extra 2-3 hours to any time-sensitive estimates I make#anyways

Genya the Heartbreaker
This is my fic for the Mini Bang 21 hosted by @grishaversebigbang
The Materialki from Gang 22: @vigittarious (Zoya) @gigi-drxws (Genya and Alina) @hivertoautumn (Genya) made amazing art!
Summary: The Tsar hosts a ball in the palace and Genya is excited. However, suddenly sheâs the center of attention because two well known people court for her. The decision is not easy and for once Genya wishes she wasnât so handsome and charming because the gifts from her admirers become a bit too much.

The court was buzzing due to the excitement of the coming ball, Tsar Nikolai had announced five hours ago. It had been a while since the last time a big and glamorous ball was held in the palace. After her duties in the palace were done, she would search Alina and together they would harass the dressmaker until they made special gowns for them. She couldnât help but smile when she thought about her best friend and didnât pay attention to where she was heading anymore, which resulted in her stumbling into David Kostyk.
âSaints, David, Iâm sorryâ, she apologised and brushed imaginary dust off his kefta.
The durast looked as if he was about to piss his pants though. With a harrumph he adjusted the collar of his kefta and inhaled deep: âNo need to apologise, this was my fault. Iâm happy to see you though.â
Her eyes darted from his eyes over his body and back: âYeah?â
âWould you be my partner for the ball?â
The question came out of the blue, even though Genya knew that David had a little crush on her, and her jaw dropped. She didnât deal with that question yet.
âGive me time to think about it, ok?â, she exhaled and patted on his shoulder, before she rushed off. Her cheeks were burning and she hid it by letting her hair fall over her face, which made her run in person again. This time it was Zoya Nazyalensky, the commander's dark hair shined in the chandelierâs light and her blue eyes fixated Genya and that made her blush even more.
âExcuse me, commanderâ, the tailor mumbled and tried to pass the tall squaller but to her surprise she was held back.
âYouâre red like a tomatoâ, Zoya meant with a judging look, âBut anyway. I wanted to ask you, if you want to join my side for the ball.â
Zoya Nazyalensky was one of the most intimidating grisha Genya knew, but also one of the most attractive. She would love to be Zoyaâs partner but she would also love to be Davidâs partner. Hence, Genya could only answer: âIâll consider it, but I feel honoured.â
âSomeone already asked you'', Zoya asserted and glanced past Genya, as if the other person would be there. The etherealkisâs eyes narrowed and she tightened her grip around the tailorâs arm: âDonât make me fight for you, Genya Safin. Whoever is my opponent, they will lose.â
âAmazingâ, Genya gulped and pushed past Zoya, this time the commander didnât hold her back.
The next day began with nervousness for the corporalki. She didnât want to go out of her dorm to see what Zoya would do. Because Zoya would do something, for sure. Eventually she was forced though, because someone knocked against her door. Bracing herself for the worst, she opened the door but only looked into a servantâs bugged face. He was holding a huge bouquet of flowers in all forms and colours. A tag was attached to one and when Genya turned it around, she read: Good morning, dearest Genya.
It was Davidâs handwriting. Then, to her horror, a second servant showed up, also with flowers, but this time from Zoya. As long as the gifts stay flowers, I can handle it, the tailor thought but she felt that this was only the start.
After breakfast Genya set off for her patientsâ chambers but halfway there, she was headed off by David.
âWhat an incident, I meet youâ, the durast smiled shyly and made Genya doubt that it was an incident, âI have something for you.â
Kostyk pressed a hair decoration into Genyaâs hands and because she dealt with such things every day, she instantly knew that it was worth a lot. It was gilded and rubies were embedded in the delicate shape.
âThank youâ, she said, unsure how to respond to it, âBut I cannot accept that, itâs worth too much.â
âNothing is worth too much for youâ, David said softly and closed Genyaâs hands around it, âJust take it. I had fun crafting it.â
The following hours, the jewellery on her desk reminded her that she would need to make the decision between David and Zoya soon. Eventually the morning was over and she grabbed some food in the dining hall, to eat it with Alina outside at the pond. On the practice field was as always a lot going on, Botkin training young grishas and some Infernis were lightning up straw dolls. She enjoyed watching it, until she spottet Zoya approaching her, a determined, slightly angry expression on the beautiful face. The squaller stopped a few steps away from her, brought her hands together and before Genya could process what was happening, a small storm gathered. Zoya let it expand into a bigger cloud until the wind pulled at Genyaâs hair and every single person on the field was watching. Fascinating was that Zoya had mixed some sort of blue powder into the air, so that the wind was visible and it looked as if the storm had a life on its own. It deformed over and over again, from a tiger to a wild horse. Nazyalenskyâs expression was concentrated, but there was an affectionate sparkle in her eyes. At the end of the demonstration, the storm collapsed into a rose and rested at Genya's feet. Zoya smiled at Genya and brushed a red lock behind her ear: âPerhaps this makes the decision easier for you.â
Then the commander spun around and walked away, leaving Genya on the spot.
âAlinaâ, Genya sighed and frowned, âI have a serious problem and you are laughing? Iâm worried about what Zoya will do to David when she finds out, that heâs her opponent.â
âGenya, be happy that two of the most handsome and powerful people openly run for youâ, Alina grinned, âNikolai surpasses you in the amount of admirers, but except for him you are the unbeaten top. Enjoy it.â
Genya opened her mouth to say something but closed it, because she figured that whatever she would say, it wouldnât make Alina stop laughing. Instead she bit into her sandwich and tried to forget her admirers.
Harder though than done though, because when they returned to the little palace, the news that Zoya Nazyalensky gifted Genya Safin flowers made out of her power, got around the golf course. Some grishas smiled about it, mostly the oneâs that already had a partner, but the majority threw the tailor one or two jealous looks. Zoya was almost everybodyâs secret crush and having her openly running for your hand was dream material. To Genyaâs relieve also this day was over at some point and she walked back to her dorm, exhausted from avoiding David and Zoya all day long, when she crossed path with Tsar Nikolai.
His mouth transformed into a wide smile as soon as he saw her and he hugged her: âGenya, I hear a lot of things about you. For once, someone else is the hotter topic here, itâs refreshing.â
âItâs notâ, Genya sighed âWhy canât they just act like normal people.â
âBecause you are a commodity in demand, sweet heart.â
Genya snorted and clapped Nikolaiâs a: âI am no commodity.â
âI know, this was just a stylistic device to illustrate the situationâ, Nikolai assuaged, âAnd I think thereâs someone who has to say something to you.â
He nodded to the floor in front of them and Genya was tempted to turn around and run away when she saw David. He was holding a letter and definitely waiting for her. It turned out to be a poem and it was actually quite good, but she was way too tired to really listen.
It had been two days since Zoyaâs storm and Davidâs poem and Genya savoured the silence. She didnât need to wolf her meals down and use the secret corridors to walk through the palace in order to not meet anyone who might make something crazy to get her favour. However, her lucky streak ended the moment the freshly recruited grishas entered the dining room while breakfast.
The whole room went dead silent when the young grisha with the blond braids stepped forward and declared: âWeâre here to perform a song for Genya Safin.â
Before they started Genya buried herself under the table and wished she could make herself invisible. Across the room she saw David, observing the scene with an irritated expression. Considering Zoyaâs position it was a bit unfair - she could make Ravka sing for Genya, literally, and David had no such resources.
They made eye contact and suddenly she was very grateful that she had someone to look at who didnât laugh or stare at her in disbelief because the grishas began to sing an ancient love song.
The moment the last singer closed their mouth, Genya stormed out of the hall, ready to strangle Zoya for this action. Too much was too much. Eventually, she ended up sitting at the pond, trying to make slates slide on the water. By tomorrow she would need to have chosen her partner, because the evening after was the ball and tomorrow was also the day she and Alina would get their outfits. As she thought of her best friend, an idea formed in her head. What if she did the most unexpected out of all? Excited about her idea she headed back to her friendâs dorm and opened the door, hoping Alina would be there but she wasnât in sight. She would see her anyway at dinner at the latest and her concern could wait until then. With a content smile she went to her own dorm and opened the door.
âBy all the saintsâ, Genya whispered and stared at the cannon. The chase was engraved with the pictures of Saints and other figures of the old Ravkan tales. The metal was altered, so it was white instead of silver and the holding sparkled golden. The inspiration was definitely coming from Genyaâs kefta and the work wouldâve only been done by a grisha. And she only knew one grisha who would first off, send her a cannon and second off, be able to create a cannon. Pretty confident that she would never have any use of it, she walked around and lay on her bed, to take a nap.
