I don't get how there are people who prefer Kirby Super Star to Kirby Super Star Ultra when the latter is just the same game but greatly expanded
Pokémon fans are known for being easily nostalgiabaited but man they're not the only ones
#kirby#kirby super star#kirby super star ultra#kss#kssu#pokémon fans are still dumb for this too though#every remake is better than the original#except for bdsp#but dp original weren't that great either#platinum saved sinnoh#and was the best main series gen 4 game#hgss were better than gsc but johto still sucks to play through#which is a real shame because it has so much potential#but whatever#my johto hot takes can get their own posts#that's enough rambling for now

y’all my ds from 2011 still works (but i can’t say it’s really a shock; nintendo really popped off with that piece of hardware) and my sister is willing to lend me pokémon platinum!
the only things wrong with the ds are that the color on the bottom screen is inverted and i think the left and right shoulder buttons are busted but that shouldn’t matter for pokémon right?
#it’s either that or her copy of brilliant diamond#not that i have some deep aversion to bdsp despite everyone i’ve ever met telling me it was bad (except her)#but it would be really cool to have the original experience plus the distortion world!#peach rambles

masters will never ever be canon here in my entire life bc 1. i only play the game just to get my favorite characters. i genuinely dont care abt the plot/story and cant get into it. and 2. dawn's sync pair is turtwig so that's already a massive failure that cannot be overlooked (and her special sync outfit or whatever is SO ugly like green slaps but w a bright ass yellow??? get out)
#👻 ooc.#anime is not canon here either. we are purely platinum verse and that's that. no dp. DEFINITELY NO BDSP (except the underground she can sta#i believe in platinum supremacy bc plat and emerald are just the goats of the goats

nintendo and gamefreak treat your pokemon consistently challenge
like either they are sapient beings similar to humans to the point they can have conversations and be considered the same or they are hunter and farmed animals with powers making them both has weird implications
#like bdsp implies that the diamond and pearl clans hunted and ate pokemon which would be fine#except theyre also explicitly considered adopted family members in a literal sense with numbering off adamans siblings and everything#which would mean that they should get the same consideration and funerary rites as humans since they are family???#which would imply that all other pokemon would be the same level of being considered a person even if theyre nonfamily#NOT food (at least not usually there have been some cultures with funerary rites that involve eating the corpse but again thats not hunting#)#(or farming which is its own bundle of horrific implications)#maybe im thinking too hard about the funny mon game but its gotten to the point that the inconsistency is getting on my nerves#just let animals exist i promise nintendo it will not hurt and they already existed in the first place even if you try to erase them#weve all seen meowth eating a fish and the world didnt implode then its fine#you cant just take things from the cultures your trying to represent slap pokemon in the middle of them and call it a day#putting some thought into the implications gos a long way

one day ill post my pokemon games + spinoffs tierlist that im slowly chipping away at and have been since, like, june or july . but i dont think people are ready
#aria talkz#tbf 'Scar/Vi was actually pretty good' isnt an unpopular take but its a popular ''controversial''(?????) take.#Yes i know about the bugs and slowdown and memory leaks yes it sucks its still a lot of fun for me#And i love the story ( esp the dlc oh my god ) and how pretty the textures are . I do not care if you dont like it . OK?#that being said the kieran battle had such a massive slowdown for me it was literally going at like 5 fps#it was frustrating but also kind of funny. i am the only person i know who seemed to have that issue tho#+ “hgss isnt that good” is more common nowadays too. But putting scar/vi and like#xy and s/m above it is probably controversial#i am literally a 3d / modern pokemon game defender. except lets go and bdsp fuck those ones.#Like i love the 2d era dont get me wrong but the starts of all of them are pretty slow and without the early global exp share its a slog#my fave 2d game has and always will be bw2 btw and has been since i was a kid. started w diamond/plat/gen 4 and pkmn stadium#rosa is me irl and i constantly imagined myself in my mindscape literally AS her which is funnier realizing i had DID later down the line.#if you squint at aria my oc / sona you can kinda see remnants of rosa#mainly the twintail hair and the pink pokeball shirt.#anyways the backtracking in HGSS at the start is so fucking abysmal and slow it kills all momentum for me#which sucks bc i think i do like hgss despite my constant trashing of it its just so hard to care enough to get past the like first hour#But like modern pokemon games gameplay loop is so much more fun bc its less slow and grindy and i heart it...#Like honestly ? If u just added the QOL to the older games ? Theyd probably be higher than or at the same lvl as the newer games for me#i love BW2. I dont even think hgss sucks ass although there are many questionable decisions in it . Its literally just.#How slow + grindy they are and the fact that theyre older so they dont have the modern games QOL stuff#which mainly means Global exp share like really early or at the start of the game i love pc anywhere too but i dont need it as much.#its also why its hard for me to play pokemon-likes like cassete beasts bc they go off of old pokemon formula . so. grindy. Sucks#Should prob put legends arceus higher on that tierlist too bc im playing it again despite 100%ing the dex#i love love love making oc ''rp'' (??) savefiles in pokemon#and like. giving what mons i catch and how i nickname them thought in context of the oc or canon im playing as#i do it any time im not doing my first playthru of a game. do it w x y a lot bc theyre super easy to restart.#im doing it in legends arceus as well w mocha and thinking ab him and how hed adapt sm. i heart aus.#can you tell im autistic about pokemon .

I think the funny thing with pokemon, considering i had played none of the game between black and white 2 and PLA
Is that i didn't care anymore about type *matchup other than the base one*
I'm like
Ye water > fire, nearly everything> rock, ghost - ghost, the og table
What the fuck is fairy type idc
#i actually would like to thank memes to having me knowing fairy is effective against dragons#but like#with the exception of sylveon all these guys are normal type in my head#also question#is garchomp easier to win against in bdsp ? since she's dragon type#when i say garchomp I mean Cynthia

The beginning of every mainline Pokemon game has the professor being like, "Oh hey, what's up? Man, I'm so proud of you for taking this leap into the big wide world, can I get to know you a little better?"
Except Legends: Arceus, where God himself abducts you from another timeline, rips you from your memories and team from BDSP, and says "Be not afraid" in a black void before sending you to the dark ages.

I don't get why so many people are surprised that Cyrus is tall or have trouble to accept that fact. Cyrus is depicted as a tall man practically towering over almost everyone else in every piece of official medias hes in despite USUM. In fact i believe the reason why people think hes small is because of USUM where his model is smaller than the other pokevillains, but thats literally the only exception.
His first canon appearance in his first game, and first concept arts, he towers over everyone else in his team and his commanders. In pokemon masters he's close behind Lysandre. In his latest depiction with BDSP he's once again depicted as really tall and towering over everyone else. And in his manga appearance he's AGAIN very tall. Cyrus being tall is just canon and not even surprising. His exact height is up for discussion, some revently leaked infos shows him at 190 cm but pokemon is known to have irregularities though even with that, him being tall has pretty much been a majority constant fact since day one.
#pokemon cyrus#idk im just tired of people telling me my ideas make no fucking sense#when this is all just basically canon#khena talk

How I've collected an Army of Mews. :3
@puzzled-zebra asked me in a chat how I get my Mews, and it made me realize something. While I did make a post awhile back talking about how I easily get my Mew characters in-game, there are a few aspects that I feel need more attention (some of which I've learned since that post). So I figured I'd make a new and improved, deeply in-depth post about it! :3
It is important to know, though, that the Mews (and Jirachis) obtained this way are SHINY LOCKED! You cannot reset for a shiny this way! (I have a post about how I got Akoya here~)
The Lindens, the Branch crew, and my first gift Mew Pearl. All safe and sound in Scarlet. :3 Every Mew here except Akoya was obtained in Shining Pearl.
What you need: Nintendo Switch/Lite Brilliant Diamond OR Shining Pearl Let's Go: Pikachu OR Let's Go Eevee (For Mew) Sword OR Shield (For Jirachi)
First off, it's best to do do this on a user with HOME access for a few different reasons. First and foremost, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl has a lock that makes it so you can send ONLY ONE Mew per file into HOME! I learned this the hard way, as I made the mistake of stockpiling my Mews in a Shining Pearl file, only to find out that I had go through convoluted hoops to get them all into HOME. XD This issue is ONLY present in BDSP--Sword and Shield, and Scarlet and Violet do not lock you in this way and you can transfer as many Mews as you want to your hearts content. (Currently--please don't change it GameFreak!) (I don't fully understand the mechanics of it all, but Mews obtained in previous games pass through this lock--Akoya and Randy were consistently able to be put in HOME together from the same file. It's only when they're obtained in BD/SP that the lock applies, or so I understand.)
The second reason for HOME access is, you have to beat the first Gym to do this method. I have in the past done it using the starter Piplup and catching Starlys and Shinxes, but if you have access to HOME and powerful Pokemon, then you can borrow some to help you get through. I use the Linden Shiny Squad since their levels are between 65-70. They scarcely listen to me, but when they do, it insta-KO's their opponents. (I recommend having Piplup or a Lv. 10-ish powerful Pokemon on hand, especially for Roark's Onix, as it has Sturdy. I have had them all disobey themselves to death.)
Make sure you put your borrowed 'mons back into HOME before deleting the file, if you want to do so!
How it works is, there's a lady in Floaroma Town that will give you a Mew, at Level 1. (The guy next to her will give you a Jirachi at Level 5 as well.) In order for her to give it to you, you need to have save data of LG;P or E on the same user. It doesn't matter how far in the LG file is; it just needs to be to the point that you can save the game. And you don't need to touch it after you save--One LG save gets you as many Mews as you restart BD/SP for. (For Jirachi it's the same, but instead of LG save data you need Sword or Shield save data.)
So you start BD/SP, play up to Floaroma, and boom, Mew! You can save by the lady and reset for a specific nature, and even name it! With the Shiny Squad's help it takes me roughly an hour of play time to get to that point.
Anyway, a little long-winded, but I thought I'd put this out there for peeps who have the means and want to build their own in-game army of adorable pink cats. :3

Why a Kalos game actually makes sense right now (crack theory)
So, I'm super excited we're getting a Legends game in Kalos featuring Zygarde. As a longtime fan in the XY anime, I always wished Zygarde was done justice in the game side of things, and once Legends Acreus came out, I knew another Legends game would be the perfect way to give Zygarde they're dues.
That said, this was definitely out of left field! Literally everyone was guessing we were going to get a Johto or Unova game this gen, since they're the only two that have yet to be remade in 3D. At first, skipping straight to Kalos makes no sense. But the more I thought of it, the more I've noticed a pattern, a pattern that I will now present as:
THE POKEMON GENERATION MULTIPLES HYPOTHESIS
The idea is that the region that gets remade is influenced by its age as well as whether or not the region's generation number shares a common denominator (that isn't 1) with the current region's generation number. I know, I'm bringing math into this, but trust me it'll make sense when we go through it.
Let's start simple, the first gen to get remade was Kanto (gen 1) during generation 3. Easy enough, it was the first gen where it made sense to remake past games, and oh look, 3 is a multiple of 1 (though to be fair everything's a multiple of 1).
Then we get to gen 4, where after the sinnoh games, we got a remake of John (gen 2). Oddly enough, 4 is a multiple of 2.
Then there's gen 5. Now, 5 is a prime number, so the only factor 5 has is 1, but gen 1 has already been made available on DS (along with every other gen, so it's not like they could do much anyway).
But then we get to gen 6, followed by the Hoenn remakes (gen 3), and 3 is a multiple of 6. Now, 6 also a multiple of 2 and even shares a common denominator with 4 (that c.d. being 2), but it seems gen 3 takes the precedent because it is the earliest set of games to have been released, since Johto and Sinnoh had games out more recently.
We move to gen 7, and you know, I remember back in 2017 when everyone thought we were gonna get Sinnoh remakes next. But why would we? 7 isn't a multiple of 4, 4 and 7 don't share a common denominator. 7 is a prime number, it isn't a multiple of anything - except for 1. And wouldn't you know it, this is the generation where we got a set of Kanto remakes - and 1 was the only thing that could factor into 7!
As we go to gen 8, suddenly it's apparent what would get remade next. Sinnoh was the region that had been out of circulation the longest, and 4 goes into 8 just fine, meaning now is finally the time to give Sinnoh another spot in the limelight with BDSP and Legends Arceus!
And now, we have reached gen 9, and again I say we all had thought we would get a return to Johto or Unova, but why? I mean, 9 isn't a multiple of 2, or 5. Rather, 9 is a multiple of 3. And you what else is a multiple of 3? 6! And since gen 6 had come out a year before the Hoenn remakes, it seems Kalos was the earliest game to pass the threshold for a modern reimagining.
So, in short, it appears that the region that gets remade or reused next coincides with whether or not the generation number shares a common denominator greater than 1 as well as whether or not the region's last release has been longer than other regions'. If this theory holds water, gen 10 may yield some interesting results, as 10 is a multiple of both 2 and 5. Though, there has been more time since the last new Johto games than there has been since the last new Unova games, so by my logic, Johto would be the next to be remade. Though if you count the Johto VC releases on 3DS, maybe that would mean Unova has spent more time out, so maybe Unova would be next on the docket?
Either way, I just think it's interesting that all the generations' numbers line up this way. Who knows, maybe each generation, GameFreak has been playing a simple numbers game when deciding their remakes.
Well regardless, I'm happy that we're getting another step into Kalos next year, and in a way, maybe the timing makes more sense than we realize. That said, definitely take this theory with a grain of salt. I highly doubt the numbering of generations (which I don't think GameFreak has ever actually acknowledged officially) truly factors into how GameFreak and the Pokemon Company greenlight what projects. But if nothing else, it's fun to notice those kinds of patterns. I'd take this in the same vein as that fire starter zodiac theory from a while back. It's probably not true, but it's funny how well it fits together!
That said, I'm calling it now, a Legends game in Johto is gonna be the game for 2028!

Which Eeveelutions are most popular among NPCs?
On today's edition of Useless Pokémon Stats: I gathered data of the used Pokémon by all major NPCs (rivals, gym leaders, villains, and any other important story figures) and scanned them for Eeveelutions to see which mons are the most common.
Read on to find out which characters have Eevees!
The least-used Eeveelution is unsurprisingly the one who's the most newly added: Sylveon.
Shauna has a Sylveon on her team in XY.
It is also Gym Leader Valerie's signature Pokémon.
Bede adds Sylveon to his team once he switches to being a Fairy-type Trainer.
And of course, Penny has one. You're gonna get tired of seeing her on these lists, because she has every Eeveelution except for Espeon & Glaceon.
Next let's look at Vaporeon, who has six NPC trainers:
Misty has a Vaporeon on her team when rematched in Let's Go!
In Pokémon Yellow, Blue will evolve his Eevee into Vaporeon if the player loses both of the first two rival battles.
Calem or Serena (as the rival) will have a Vaporeon if the player chose Froakie as their starter.
Hau will have a Vaporeon if the player chose Litten.
Adaman has a Vaporeon in Legends: Arceus.
And Penny has one on her team as well.
Tied with six trainers is Umbreon.
Karen has an Umbreon on her Elite Four team.
Greta of the Hoenn Battle Frontier has an Umbreon in both Symbol challenges, so it's arguably her signature Pokémon.
Cheryl can use an Umbreon in the Battle Tower in all Gen IV games.
Buck has an Umbreon on his team at the Battleground.
Adaman has an Umbreon...
...and so does Penny.
And finally, also tied with the above is Leafeon.
Gardenia has a Leafeon in all of her B2W2 World Tournament teams.
Buck can have a Leafeon in the Battle Tower.
N has a Leafeon in B2W2 during the Summer battle at his castle.
Hau will have a Leafeon if the player chose Popplio.
And Adaman...
...and Penny too.
Interesting that Adaman has all of the less popular ones...
Anyway, moving up one NPC with Jolteon:
Lt. Surge uses a Jolteon in the B2W2 World Tournament, as well as during rematches in Let's Go!
Blue can have a Jolteon in Yellow if the player wins both early rival encounters.
Trace will always evolve his Eevee into Jolteon in Let's Go! Kinda wish they had kept the mechanic that Yellow used, but oh well.
Volkner has a Jolteon in Platinum, the game where his gym team actually makes some damn sense.
Marley can have a Jolteon in the Battle Tower in Platinum & HGSS.
Calem/Serena will have a Jolteon if the player chose Chespin.
And Penny! (the schuyyyler sisters)
Also in a tie is Glaceon:
Lucas will have a Glaceon in BDSP if the player chose Turtwig.
Candice has a Glaceon in her rematch battle in Platinum.
Cynthia has a Glaceon on her team in Black 2 & White 2.
Mira can use a Glaceon in the Battle Tower in all Gen IV games.
N uses a Glaceon in the Winter battle at his castle.
Sina has a Glaceon in Pokémon Moon & Ultra Moon, as well as in the Battle Tree in Sun & Ultra Sun.
And Irida has a Glaceon in Legends: Arceus.
And finally, we have two Pokémon in a tie for first, both with eight known trainers. The first is Flareon.
Blaine has a Flareon in the B2W2 World Tournament.
Blue will have a Flareon in Yellow if the player only wins one of the first two rival battles.
Lucas uses a Flareon if the player chose Chimchar.
Flint has a Flareon in Platinum, the game where he doesn't have a friggin lopunny for NO REASON
Calem/Serena uses a Flareon if the player chose Fennekin.
Hau uses Flareon if the player chose Rowlet.
And Irida...
...and Penny!
And tied with it is Espeon.
Red has an Espeon when challenged on Mt. Silver.
Sabrina uses an Espeon in for her gym battles in GSC.
Lucas will have an Espeon if the player chose Piplup.
Lucian has an Espeon on his team in Platinum.
Cheryl can use an Espeon in the Battle Tower.
And so can Mira.
Dexio has an Espeon in SM & USUM.
And Irida has an Espeon in LA.

The Eternal Flower :)
Eternal Flower Floette is the Floette that AZ befriended, she has special form data in the game and a unique BST of 551, more comparable to the stats of Florges (552) than the other forms of Floette (371)
Like other unique forms that can only be obtained through events, Floette cannot be bred or evolved. Eternal Flower Floette has never been released and cannot be obtained without hacking.
Eternal Flower Floette has had her form data in every game since Gen 6 with the exception of Gen 8 since the Florges line is unobtainable in those games. USUM gave her unique dex entries, and a sprite for the Alola dex. Floette’s shiny replaces the blue on her with pink.
It was very important to me that these were transparent
Ultra Sun: The flower it's holding can no longer be found blooming anywhere. It's also thought to contain terrifying power.
Ultra Moon: Terrifying energy is concealed within its ominous flower, but Floette still swings it about innocently.
Her signature move, Light of Ruin, is the most powerful damaging fairy type move outside of Z-Moves and Max Moves, with an accuracy of 90% and a base power of 140. If you used a Fairium Z with Light of Ruin, the resulting Twinkle Tackle has a base power of 200, making it the strongest fairy move.
Light of Ruin is the only fairy type move to do recoil damage, and was the only Special move that dealt recoil before Chloroblast, Hisuian Electrode’s signature move, was introduced in Legends Arceus. Light of Ruin does half the damage dealt as recoil, like Head Smash.
Light of Ruin has had it’s move data in every game since it was introduced, even though the only Pokemon who can legally learn the move is an event Pokemon who was never released, like many other signature moves, it cannot be rolled by using metronome, and has been completely unusable since Gen 8.
It’s move description exists in Let’s Go, SwSh and LA even though the Florges line is completely unobtainable. BDSP got rid of Light of Ruin’s description text, replacing it with the generic “This move can’t be used” text. The moves description was then updated in Scarlet and Violet.
Gen 6 - Gen 8: Drawing power from the Eternal Flower, the user fires a powerful beam of light. This also damages the user quite a lot.
Scarlet and Violet: Drawing power from the Eternal Flower, the user fires a powerful beam of light. This also damages the user terribly.

just learned that eternal flower floette had pokedex entries written for it in usum, as well as descriptions for its signature move light of ruin in every mainline except bdsp despite it STILL not being obtainable. game freak i swear to god if you do not let this pokemon out of unused prison i'm going to blow up my house
#clai speaks#APPARENTLY IT WAS IN LEGENDS ARCEUS TOO????#from xy to pla the description is the same so i'd believe it if like. move data gets copypasted between games#but in sv the wording was changed. so they were looking at it again and made the choice to change it. i hate this give me floette PLEASE#trivia page also says in a hotel minigame ligt of ruin can be chosen as the randomized name of a food and thats the ONLY--#--legitimate way to know the move exists. thats so fucking funny. only hotel staff know this devastating ancient forbidden move#the playground rumors that could have started if the internet wasnt more widely accessible at the time#''dude i swear the hotel told me about a NEW HIDDEN MOVE i bet the pokemon that learns it is in the locked power plant''
