That most annoying coworker again: ugh my kid keeps getting sick at daycare and then making me sick.
Me: yeah, kids are like that. That’s why I get as vaccinated as possible every time I have to work around ‘em.
Her (proudly): my family never gets vaccinated.
Me: and that’s clearly working out so well for you.

Thinking about H.Bomberguy’s Roblox_oof.mp3, and I can’t help but imagine the real backstory for how might have all happened to him.
He’s looking online one day in 2020, 2021, and sees an news article about how the Oof sound effect originated from Messiah.
He writes it down as a possible video idea, but puts it on the back burner so he can cover more important topics, like how Anti-vaxxers are destroying the world or how Deus Ex: Human Revolution is mid.
Finally, in late 2022, he decides to take a break from his longer, months-of-research deep dives, and picks the Oof story to make a short video about.
When he gets to the point of talking about how Tommy owns the sound effect, he writes up a biography section of the video, talking about a lot of Tommy’s past accomplishments, and sets aside the Amico disaster for its own section, since it’s fairly well documented and there’s overlap with the discovery of the Oof sound effect.
While working on the main bulk of the episode, he notices the discrepancy of who actually MADE the sound effect, and looks into it further, only to realize Tommy’s been pretty shady about all of it.
He begins double checking Tommy’s biography and credits, since he wants to see if there’s any precedent for Tommy personally working on Sound Effects.
While doing so, he sees the Sonic claim again, and immediately realizes “Wait, there’s no possible way that’s right”, because even someone who doesn’t know two things about Sonic could figure out that Tommy wasn’t the first American to work on it, and he begins checking ALL of Tommy’s claims against more verifiable sources.
Five simple facts later, and it’s blatantly obvious Tommy Tallarico is a pathological liar who was once taken to court for lying so much.
And the rest is history.

If you don't want conspiracy nut RFK Jr. in charge of healthcare policy in the US, then defeat Donald Trump.
Donald Trump should not be rewarded for his disastrous response to the COVID-19 pandemic with another chance to ruin the lives of millions of Americans.
RFK Jr. can’t wait to make America sicker
The prospect of a second Trump presidency is a fearful one for many reasons, like mass deportations and additional abortion restrictions. Now a potential role for RFK Jr. is rising higher and higher on the list. On Saturday, the former presidential candidate announced on X that a Trump administration would “advise all U.S. water systems to remove fluoride from public water.” Kennedy went on to falsely claim that fluoridation causes bone fractures and neurodevelopmental disorders, among other conditions. Fluoride has been a fixture of American public health since 1945, when the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan, first added it to drinking water. The Washington Post reports that around 200 million Americans now live on fluoridated water systems, and scientific consensus links the practice to massive improvements in dental health. Though there’s bipartisan support for water fluoridation on the Hill, it has always had its critics — and Kennedy’s rise and close ties to Trump suggest that certain fringe views may be gaining traction on the Right. Trump has promised to cut funding for public schools that mandate vaccinations, and a 2023 poll from Politico/Morning Consult showed that “a narrow majority” of Republicans cared more about the risks of vaccination than the benefits, according to KFF Health News. [ ... ] Trump has also said Kennedy would have some kind of public health role in a future administration, though he’s often muddled on the details. Most recently he’s pledged to put Kennedy in charge of “women’s health.” This weekend the campaign had little to say about Kennedy’s anti-fluoridation push, stating only that the ex-president is focused on Tuesday’s election. While it’s unclear how much authority Trump would actually give Kennedy, the former candidate’s apparent influence suggests there’s danger ahead if Trump returns to the White House.
So RFK Jr. wants to remove fluoride from drinking water and ban vaccines. Apparently Trump thinks this makes him perfect also to run women's health.
Vaccines have been around since the late 1700s. President John Adams (1735–1826) was vaccinated and lived to be 90. They are one of the reasons smallpox has finally been wiped out. Only stupid anti-vaxxers get measles, mumps, or rubella these days. Trump and RFK Jr. want to reverse all this medical progress.
And apart from RFK Jr's pseudoscience on health issues. he has an anti-Semitism problem which links him to Trump.
Close RFK Jr. friend whose account promoted “Jew World Order” conspiracy theory says she’s “working with” Trump’s transition team
RFK Jr's fringe pal Charlene Bollinger is apparently working with Trump's transition team. Defeat Trump and the transition team becomes moot. Problem solved!
Kamala Harris wants to expand healthcare. Donald Trump and his sidekick RFK Jr. want to take us back to the 1600s.

David Badash at NCRM:
Independent presidential candidate, anti-vaxxer, AIDS denialist, and conspiracy theorist Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has suspended his campaign and is backing the Republican Party’s nominee for President, Donald Trump, despite RFK Jr.’s vice presidential running mate saying the ex-president must first apologize for the COVID vaccines developed when he was in the White House. More than 1.2 million Americans have died of the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Trump’s Operation Warp Speed led to fast development COVID vaccines that saved more than one million lives in the U.S. alone, past his presidency, according to a December 2021 estimate. “The hesitation we have right now in joining forces with Trump is that he has not apologized or publicly come out and said ‘Operation Warp Speed was my fault, a failure, and I let it happen,’ ” Nicole Shanahan told right wing podcaster Adam Carolla.
But in a Pennsylvania court filing Kennedy announced he planned to drop his presidential run and endorse the convicted ex-president’s re-election bid, NBC News reported.
In a late and lengthy Friday afternoon press conference, Kennedy blasted the Democratic Party, noting his father, the late U.S. Senator Robert Kennedy, had been a Democrat. Kennedy also complained about the process to get on the ballot, despite numerous candidates having done it during every presidential cycle. During his remarks Kennedy declared he is suspending his campaign and is endorsing Trump, claiming he “has asked to enlist me in his administration.” Critics panned RFK Jr.’s move.
“The fact that RFk Jr sold his endorsement to the highest bidder is going to dramatically undermine his ability to convince his supporters to follow him to Trump,” former Obama senior advisor Dan Pfeiffer wrote. Kennedy reportedly had reached out to both campaigns, but the Harris-Walz Democratic ticket did not respond. The Washington Post reported Kennedy was seeking a Cabinet position from Harris. The Harris-Walz campaign mocked RFK Jr., posting a CNN video from Friday during which the reporter says, “Now, you might be wondering exactly why Trump’s team would want RFK’s endorsement, given the fact that his campaign has been really plagued by scandal after scandal.” “He admitted that a parasitic rain worm had entered into his brain and died there,” the reporter added, “and caused brain fog. In a Vanity Fair article he essentially evaded questions about allegations of sexual assault, but from a former nanny, and then obviously we saw what happened when he admitted that he left a [dead] bear cub in Central Park.”
As expected, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. sold out the Kennedy name by endorsing Donald Trump today, furthering proof that RFK Jr.’s run for the Presidency was just a MAGA grift.

Over a third of the way through The Whispering Skull heres my current thoughts
- If I were Lockwood and Lucy I would be a little bit mad about George missing the whole "area theyre searching was an execution ground for criminals" thing but also I feel like it's the first clear sign we get that something is off with George. Like hes burnt out. Hes tired. Hes just a teenager. They all are and theyre working adult jobs and literally dont have the capacity or past experience to communicate with one another. Very realistic for teenagers.
- I love Kipps so much I love how full of himself he is I love how pathetic he comes across even when he gets the upper hand I cannot wait to see him and his team get cut down to size.
- That being said I would have thrown down then and there had I been struck with a Mag Flare like that. better ways to go about ghosts, its dangerous as shit, badly damaged L&C's clothes and perfectly shows that the Fitts agency arent really trained in a people-first way. The way they put pressure on their teams to secure a source above all and encourage hostility towards other agents.... Super telling about management and an early warning sign to me. Esp with what we know happens to Ned Shaw (which i'll have a lot to say about later when it happens) and Kat, Bobby and Kipps v trauma.
- I liked Joplin a lot when I read the books as a kid + my reread 2 years back but now... idk. Too reckless, esp with how he treats ghosts when in the company of teenagers and children. Hate how comfortable all the adults in this world are about putting children at risk. They really treat them as a resource or rather than anything else.
- The skull is such a fucking shit stirrer which again makes so much damn sense when you learn hes a teenager whose been stuck with no one to talk to in a jar for like a hundred+ years. Of course you're trying to push apart Lockwood and Lucy. You are a fucked up ex-cultist teenage boy who finally found someone to talk to and are perpetually stuck in your teenage brain and hormones. You are So Jealous.
- Lucy, George and Lockwoods argument about the Georges recklessness and then The Skull seeding distrust again drives home my point about communication but also Christ these kids need more friends. Their entire childhood and teen years are stripped from them. They have no family to talk to or guide them. No non-work friends their age to vent to. Immense trauma and no one to help them through it.
- Jonathan Stroud give me a follow up series following the team in their mid twenties coping with having their lives dedicated to a job they literally cannot do anymore and the repercussions of no education and no safety nets for agents once they reach adulthood. What do they do? Where do they work? Where do they go? How do they afford to live? What happens to agents who only built relationships with coworkers they cant even face because of trauma? Agents disconnected with their families? Nightwatch kids whose education was ruined because their days were spent recovering from their shifts? I need to know.
- Okay back to the book the ghost cult stuff hits so much harder in a post-covid world. I was there getting harassed by anti vaxxers when they invaded parliament for a month and it ended in violence. of course in times of fear people become vulnerable to misinformation. You Are Not Immune To Cults. Or Propaganda. Again, spin-off following the people who try to fight those who profit off of peoples fear and build wealth and followings off of it. Theres so much interesting stuff in this world I want to explore.
- Kipps and Lockwoods teams having to work together bcos of Barnes is so good. I love Kipps team so much I love seeing them
- Kat Godwin is autistic and I know this. Because I am Autistic. Also she comes off as someone who has shut down to everything around her because, again. trauma of her work. at 16 theres no way she hasnt been through something similar to Lucy or Lockwood. I'm sad we see less of her after book three. same with Bobby.
- Now I want to write a hyper empathetic autistic lucy/low empathy autistic kat fic where they both realize they have a lot in common with their Talents and work and bond it doesnt even have to be romantic i just want to see more of Kat
- A LSO i need lucy to have more female friends for the love of god i understand this is your pick me phase of your teens but it makes me so sad to see your internalized misogyny even though it ABSOLUTELY makes sense for her character and is so common for teen girls like her but the way she talks about sensitives and every other female operative she meets. girl. who are you trying to impress rn. you dont need to.
- Ned Shaw getting the shit kicked out of him by Lockwood DESERVED.
- I love this little nightwatch boy who helps the team with all my heart. what is his name. my son. hes such a little cunt.
- FLO TIME FLO TIME i am so excited to see Flo you people DO NOT UNDERSTAND shes so fucking cool mudlarkers are so fucking cool fuck you if you hate flo this is a flo bones appreciation zone
- obligatory "i miss holly" comment even though. she hasnt been introduced yet and wont be until the next book. i love gay people okay.
- Anyway I'm enjoying this a lot I said TWS isnt my fav book (mostly the stuff later on in the book isn't as compelling to me) but this stuff at the start rules. I didn't expect to write so much. Im having so much fun.

I saw people saying they remembered articles from February 2020 about Jason and Olivia separating but living together because of covid and the children, which disappeared around January. To me, the timeline doesn't make sense. Why was Jason perfectly happy with Olivia saying they split in February 2020 in the first article in November 2020 if he already knew about Harry? Also, Harry’s team putting an article out saying he wasn't to blame for this affair, and he was told they weren't together less than 12 hours later was funny.
Look, essentially you have three separate teams (Olivia’s, Jason’s and Harry’s) all doing separate things + the DWD promo team/the studio’s doing its own thing. Then you have the three of them also all doing their own separate things. I don’t think we’ll ever know exactly what happened because obviously they all have reasons to lie lol and did and will. Jason would obviously not want to have been publicly cucked - no man, let alone a Gen Xer man who’s very much a dude - would want that out there. It’s not imo that sympathetic to have had your BM fuck Harry Styles while living with you, it’s kind of deeply embarrassing. So I can see him also being invested in rewriting the timeline to look like he was less of a cuckold. Olivia obviously lies (we know this) so she likely was lying to both men. Harry wouldn’t want to be seen as splitting up a family tbh so whatever he knew or didn’t know like he also would’ve been invested in making the timeline like… more palatable lol so Jason and Olivia split up but were amicable co-parents and then he and Olivia started dating like that’s obviously a better version to put out than “Olivia cheated”? Especially since they still had the movie to put out so like 💀💀💀
idk man people who aren’t even famous lie and fudge timelines. My partner’s ex told people she met her AP the night he (my bf/her ex/her then husband) kicked her out and that they met on accident. She said she got kicked out after a big blowout fight, it was the middle of the night (this part is true) and she went to a friend’s house (unclear if this is true) because she was upset (probably true) etc and this new guy coincidentally happened to be staying there and that’s when they met. But like that’s not true lol. She got kicked out because her then husband saw messages on her phone from this other guy after she came home late and drunk after a meet up with this guy. Odds are she actually went to that guy’s house tbh and she def knew him - biblically - at that stage. But she tried to lie about it lol because saying “I got caught cheating and my husband told me to GTFO” isn’t a very sympathetic story. She also apparently then changed that story a bit when probed and like said my partner was distant and cold and shit and basically emotionally abusive which drove her to cheat/look for other guys lol. Again, more of a sympathetic story than “she cheated and got caught”. She also well likely believes some version of that second story idk she probably thinks if my bf/her ex was different then she wouldn’t have cheated. But also she stayed with the AP until he died in COVID because he was an anti vaxxer and anti masker and stuff but also recent tea I obtained through mutual friends because Im xoxo gossip girl tbh heavily suggests that she cheated on that new/now dead guy too so maybe she should be asking herself why she keeps cheating lol idk.
Idk that lady’s thought processes like she’s just super fucking crazy imo and kinda a bad person. Not because she’s my bf’s ex because especially when I’ve been pissed at him I’ve investigated this and y’all know how much I like doing detective work and I really am a girls’ girl (pussies included and like he is not wrong in that she’s attractive so my drunk ass one time was like “how funny would it be if her and I got together” and then I truly FBI’d) and I’ve actively wanted to know like what he lied about (because everybody lies) or where the piping hot tea is being poured (I want to be there) but what I keep coming up with… is she is a crazy ass cunt lol who lies and cheats and has done so since she was a teenager (because a friend of hers from school is still mutuals with both her and my bf and I quizzed her - subtly - and like… bruh this lady is insane lol which actually at the time was an L for me because it was during our break and I was trying to prove he is always the problem).
my point is people involved in cheating generally speaking lie so idk why you’d expect to figure out exactly who knew what and when about complete strangers. I wouldn’t trust like friends’ versions of their cheating accounts 100% let alone the cheating accounts of total strangers. I assume Jason, Olivia and Harry all lied (to each other and to their teams and their teams lied too because it was a bad vibe situation???)
I’m not sure who the crazy ass cunt is in their situation. All or none idk. Could go either way.

that last post made me think of the guy who does my parents' windows - he's an absolute sweetheart by all accounts and also has genuinely experienced real mistreatment in his life. his father was a domestic abuser and physically beat him; reading between the lines his mother has been emotionally and spiritually abusive to him. his ex-partner was physically and emotionally abusive to him for several years: when he left her she then made false police reports on him and nearly landed him in prison. he's been made homeless and experienced bankruptcy. he's had a really hard go of it. I feel genuinely ill hearing about some of the stuff he's been through, and am so so passionate that he deserves better.
he's also an anti-vaxxer and seems really susceptible to misinformation and conspiracy theories circulating the internet. he crucially doesn't have any faith in the overall political and social system, because - well, why would he? to believe that people in power will look after you (through vaccines, or honoured manifesto promises, or whatever) you need an ability to trust those people in power, and some people have been raised in an environment that makes that sort of trust really hard to foster.
now all that doesn't reduce the damage that not getting vaccinated can cause, and if my parents ever caught covid because of him I'd wring his neck...but it should also be horribly obvious why someone who has been put through all that shit would be so vulnerable to misinformation and conspiracy theories. and just as his circumstances don't mitigate the damage his theories could cause, his anti-vax status doesn't mitigate the fact that he deserves so much better than what our current system has given him.
I dunno, I just think it's more productive to examine why our systems are letting people like this slip through the cracks and then focus on getting education out there, rather than demanding that people either educate themselves or be considered lost causes forever afterwards.

Jim Carrey Movies That I Recommend and Have Aged Well:
The Mask ** - You get a cute movie about a shy guy wanting to date Cameron Diaz and ends up becoming a Looney Tune man cos of a Norse mask and ends up getting the police and the mafia after him. It’s pure unfiltered fun. Even if it has a bit of that 90s stink.
The Grinch *** - While it does reek of early 2000s writing, it’s a decent Xmas movie about how consumerism around Xmas sucks, learning to trust others again and getting revenge on your bully who’s ridiculed you since childhood and Carey’s hammy as fuck in this movie. Seriously he’s the only reason I’m recommending this movie at all.
Bruce Almighty - Some sexist jokes and a shitty third act misunderstanding aside, it’s a fun movie that takes advantage of its plot about a guy with literal God powers but learns a lesson in appreciating the small things in life. Which is an important lesson to learn if the main character’s a white guy with a good job, nice apartment and a hot wife.
Yes Man - it’s ultimately Liar Liar but with learning about openmindedness being the message rather than honesty. Also it’s more soft and less raunchy than its spiritual predecessor and l like that.
Batman Forever - yeah he was in this. Riddler has never had such an ideal casting choice until Wally Wingert came along. The movies just jam with bats on it, you’ll love it
Horton Hears a Who - Its a shame Blue Sky Studios shut down cos this is the most accurate adaptation of a Dr Seuss book and it also knows how to have fun with being a kids film. Also it’s meme-tastic.
Mr Popper’s Penguins - no seriously it’s a wacky kids movie. It’s not the end of the world. I love how Carrey only took on this movie just to tap dance with a bunch of penguins like Dick Van Dyke, who is his hero. That’s really sweet.
Sonic movies - the only time Jim Carrey has been funny in recent years. I don’t really watch his content anymore cos of obvious reasons. (anti vaxxer) but it’s nice he’s returned to his silly roots.
Liar Liar * - it’s an inherently sweet movie about a dad trying to learn a lesson in honesty to save his relationship with his son. Although Fletcher winning back his wife as well is a bit of a stretch. Has this movie never heard of exes that are amicable to each other?
Asterisks:
* - Liar Liar is really into men being SA’d for a joke and it’s really uncomfortable to see Fletcher get roped into sex by a senior executive and him getting fondled and forcibly kissed by his female client. Wasn’t the 90s all about stopping workplace harassment?
** - There was one scene in the Mask where he seduces Cameron Diaz and it reeks of Pepe LePew vibes. Although things didn’t go too far apart, the fact we didn’t have a scene of Stanley immediately regretting that or at least have him and Cameron Diaz’s character bring that up during the jail scene later on really bugs me. Also Stanley’s sleazy friend pisses me off.
*** - Someone on the crew was really horny for Martha May Whovier (mostly cos she’s played by Christina Baranski) cos she’s clearly only there for fanservice. Seriously she wears slutty Christmas dresses, there’s a scene where Grinch’s face gets plastered into Martha’s cleavage, the mayor simping for her is played by Jeffrey Tambor is just creepy. What’s even worse is that during a flashback scene we see a younger Martha May suggestively licking a lollipop at a young Grinch during class… YIKES. I don’t care if that was meant to be a joke it’s still fucking creepy.

It's obvious that RFK Jr. picked his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, because he needed somebody who was filthy rich to fund his campaign. Shanahan is the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin who probably has enough money to buy one of the smaller Hawaiian Islands.
Why Shanahan doesn't mind being an ATM for the worm-brained RFK Jr. is that she shares his idiotic conspiracy theory which falsely links autism to vaccines.
It’s easy to see why the controversial heir to the most prestigious liberal name-brand in American politics chose Shanahan, a relative unknown, to be his nominee for vice president. As an ambitious and athletic millennial who surfs and grows her own food with her boyfriend, a cryptocurrency software developer she met at Burning Man, the 38-year-old attorney brings a woman’s presence, and youthful energy, to a race dominated by octogenarian men, not to mention the 70-year-old Kennedy. And as the former wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, the seventh richest man in the world, Shanahan brings another factor crucial to the campaign: unfathomably deep pockets. Her backing enables Kennedy to skirt questions about why the notoriously anti-immigration GOP megadonor Timothy Mellon is financing the super PAC supporting Kennedy’s campaign, American Values. Mellon has poured millions into Trump’s Make America Great Again Inc., while donating $53 million in stock to the state of Texas to build the former president’s border wall.
As an aside, shouldn't the RFK Jr.-curious be concerned about the loot he's getting from MAGA megadonor Timothy Mellon? 🤔
Back to Shanahan...
So how did Shanahan end up on a “spoiler” ticket praised by right-wing ideologues like Alex Jones, Steve Bannon, Michael Flynn and Roger Stone, the notorious GOP mischief-maker who called an alliance between Kennedy and Trump his “dream ticket”?
The turning point in her life came in 2020, she says in an Instagram video, when (daughter) Echo was diagnosed with autism. The Daily Beast claims that Shanahan “chafed at Brin’s left-brain thinking” about the best practices for raising a child on the spectrum, and the Google co-founder filed divorce papers shortly thereafter, citing “irreconcilable differences.” She initially contested their prenuptial agreement and sought $1 billion of Brin’s fortune but eventually settled out of court.
"Left-brain thinking" is often a euphemism for being logical and analytical. In other words: rational. Rationality is not a strong point for conspiracy freaks.
But while she claims that world-class experts keep her apprised of cutting-edge autism research, her ideas about her daughter’s condition seem stuck in the 1990s; during that era, actress Jenny McCarthy was hailed as an autism expert, and Andrew Wakefield triggered a global panic about vaccines with the publication of a paper in The Lancet linking autism to vaccines. That paper was later retracted after multiple investigations found it based on fraudulent data and riddled with conflicts of interest.
So Nicole Shanahan is fixated on a debunked and retracted article from three decades ago.
For somebody who is allegedly concerned about her autistic daughter, why is she the running mate for a candidate who calls people with autism "zombies"?
And you wouldn’t know it from listening to Kennedy, who routinely caricatures people on the spectrum as “vaccine-injured” zombies. “They get the shot ... and three months later, their brain is gone,” Kennedy told an audience in 2015. Insisting that previous generations of autistic people simply never existed—when in truth, they were often hidden away in institutions because of a thoroughly discredited theory that autism is caused by bad parenting—the candidate told radio and TV host Michael Smerconish last year: “I have never in my life seen a man my age with full-blown autism, not once. Where are these men? One out of every 22 men who are walking around the mall with helmets on, who are non-toilet-trained, nonverbal, stimming, toe-walking, hand-flapping. I’ve never seen it.”
RFK Jr. is intent on being the 2024 version of Ralph Nader. In 2020 Nader, as the Green Party candidate for president, hoodwinked enough gullible progressives into voting for him so that he helped George W. Bush take Florida – the deciding state in the 2000 election. Bush then gifted the US with two recessions (including the Great one), two wars (one totally unnecessary and one which could have been avoided if he had paid more attention to terrorism), two rightwing appointees to the Supreme Court (one bad, one horrendous), and two rounds of tax breaks for the filthy rich.
One way to undermine RFK J.'s support among some people on the left is to strongly debunk his autism vaccine conspiracy theory.
Annenberg Public Policy Center (APPC) at the University of Pennsylvania published a new survey showing that 12% of Americans feel that a link between the MMR vaccine is either definitely true or probably true.
False Belief in MMR Vaccine-Autism Link Endures as Measles Threat Persists
While anti-vaxxers tend to be Trumpsters, there's a sizeable number of misinformed people on the left who share this view regarding MMR. So debunking the MMR-autism bullshit should be a routine part of your anti-Trump activism.
