the david zwirner gallery and the felix gonzalez torres foundation in the smithsonian removed the descriptive plaque for portrait of ross in la by felix gonzalez-torres. the old plaque explained portrait for ross' origins as the artist's partner's aids related death, and replaced it with a plaque with absolutely no information about the piece itself, who ross was, or who gonzalez-torres was either. portrait of ross was also reeranged to lay on the floor long ways instead of in a pile as it typically is situated, and the plaque outside the exhibition FOR GONZALEZ-TORRES omits his sexuality, as well as his aids related death. i'm in utter disbelief
#wtf#i remember seeing this piece at the chicago art institute#i still have a picture of the original plaque :-(

I’m trying to recommend movies to watch together as sisters and one of them goes “I thought ___ was overrated ?” Like IS IT ???? Why don’t you watch the movie for yourself to find out ?
Like you can go on and say “i dont wanna watch it” or even “someone else told me it was overrated” but like. Please learn to form ur own opinions pleaseeeeee
#like it’s even okay to be like ‘I don’t think I’ll like this movie’ but that’s not really an opinion ON the movie you know ?#ALSO. if the general consensus seems to be that it’s overrated. then that means it’s not overrated right ?#I’m sorry maybe I’m especially annoyed because this one particular sister won’t give like any movie I recommend a chance lol

It confuses me how normalized it is to be so anti human. The fact that two countries voted no to food being a human right. The fact so many people are against universal healthcare. The fact that it’s normal to believe some people don’t deserve housing because they’re poor, addicts, mentally ill, or any combination of the above. I find it so hard to comprehend that humans who have experienced hunger, thirst, cold, and illness would wish these things upon others, or at the very least not care. It frustrates me beyond belief.
These are the exact values we’re taught as children, to believe all humans are equal in worth and needs, and yet at some point you’re expected to grow out of that illusion. You’re expected to accept that this is what life’s like, that the world is unfair, and attempting to fix it makes you weak and childish.
