for halloween I introduce a mapleshade and spottedleaf au I had in my head for a while :)

basically spottedleaf dies as normal, and after she does maple finds her and sees it as another way to take revenge on thunderclan, and convinces her that Fireheart/paw whatever he was at the time let her die purposely and convinces her to take revenge on him, especially after he chooses Sandstorm as a mate. Basically spotted tries to act like his spirit guide still and still act good and not evil, but secretly convinces sandstorm that firestar loves her and not sand bc she constantly visiting him and stuff if that makes sense...and basically sand ends up breaking up with him over it

but before they broke up sand was already pregnant and had squilf and leaf eventually, and bc of what happened, his daughters never became too close to him, especially squilf, leaf kinda had to get over it since she his med cat, but squilf always held resentment. eventually spotted convinces leaf to run away with crow and that whole thing happens same as it does..

however since she knew the three had powers her and maple started secretly training them. as time went on jay realized they were being manipulated and told lion and holly, but holly was so caught up in being the best med cat she could be, she didn't believe jay and continued to train

eventually the fire thing happened and spotted actually told holly leaf was her mom and made up lies about how she hated her and hated that she was her apprentice and all that, and eventually convinced holly to kill leaf in revenge, and she tried but due to the sister psychic link thing squilf came and tried to save her, but she was too late, and in the process also ended up killing Holly in an attempt to save her sister, but in the end they both ended up dead

squilf was accused of killing them both and due to pressure from the clan firestar was forced to exile his daughter, she pleaded, attempting to fix the relationship they never got to have, and he desperately wanted to, but he couldn't and had to kick her out

meanwhile, in starclan leaf realized what spotted had been doing and tried to warn all the other starclan cats, but none believed her since spotted was such a well respected starclan warrior. the only one who seemed to listen was crookedstar, and eventually they realized together mapleshade was in on this as well

they formed a plan together to bring maples kits to her in an attempt to change her mind, and during the great battle they bring the kits out to maple while the kits tried to convince her to stop all this. maple was starting to listen to them, finally starting to find some kind of closure in her anger, when spotted saw and stepped in

she tried to convince maple not to listen to them but she wouldn't, so spotted attempted to kill the kits, which made maple angry

the two started fighting, maple almost winning and who easily could have killed her but hesitated, through all of this they had formed a close relationship despite everything, and she couldn't bring herself to hurt her, but that was her mistake, for spotted didn't hesitate and ended up killing her

she hadn't realized what she had done until it was too late, she had killed the one cat closest to her, and while she was in shock, sandstorm has been watching and realized what had been happening all along, killed spottedleaf, ending their reign once and for all

Once back at Shadowclan territory Brokenstar decides to test Rusty ( Like how Bluestar did ) and challenges him to fight against Clawface, ripping his collar off. Rusty looses, but Brokenstar is determined to use Rusty to his full potential so he let's him stay in Shadowclan..

After the fight Rusty has a scar across the bridge of hi nose that Runningnose treats too, and he meets Littlepaw..

Evil Firestar AU, where Spottedleaf gets the famous " Fire saves the clans " prophecy, but not Thunderclan..

" Fire, fire alone will save the clans.. "

" But not ours "

And at the same time Runningnose and Brokenstar are having the same exact conversation and he's like " I won't stop until Thunderclan is burnt to the ground.. "

Words cannot begin to describe how much I hate Evil Spottedleaf AUs. They don’t fix any problems with her writing and just make them worse. How about you make an AU where Spottedleaf gets to live a happy life and isn’t the victim of terrible writing.

*The Tigerfoot and Spottedstem is the only Evil Spottedleaf AU I’ll accept, at least it does something interesting with her.

i know why people quickly discard it and pretend it doesn’t exist and i completely understand and empathise with that standpoint however i do think it’s interesting to take spottedleaf’s heart into account when thinking about spottedleaf, because it colors a lot of her otherwise very generic ‘medicine cat love interest’ traits. if i was writing her i think what i would do is leave the whole thistleclaw thing intact HOWEVER very evidently paint spottedleaf as a ca victim, and i think an interesting twist on her feelings for fireheart would be to not actually actualise it as affection but rather some pocd-like intrusive thoughts that she struggles with as a result of trauma. moreover i think her becoming a medicine cat could be framed in an interesting way if she specifically sought out the position to have an ‘excuse’ to reject thistleclaw as a mate that is valid and infallible in the eyes of the clans.(1) and i think it leads to her taking the virginial chastity rules of the med cat code (which is how i’d personally frame them, btw) very seriously, which then extends into her having an overall reliance on starclan, explaining why she’s so willing to be their main messenger pigeon for like the span of 3 entire arcs. basically i think she’s very repressed and 100% prefers to be so. with age she’s become very scared of ‘repeating the cycle’ of her abuse to a nearly obsessive degree and so she’s shut herself off from romance and love and all similar things.(2)(3)

1. i know some people like to portray the clans as very just and socially aware but my enjoyment of warrior cats comes from the same place i get my enjoyment of shakespeare plays where nearly everyone is a terrible person as commentary on greater institutions and other facets of life. and so i think it makes sense if, even if thunderclan knew about thistleclaw being predatory, most people would waive it in favour of him being a good warrior. and since starclan is simply dead clan cats they inherit the sins of the living — i don’t think thistleclaw ever faces repentance for this and i think it’s another nail in the coffin for spottedleaf and how she thinks of herself. and i posit this as commentary on how men can get away with terrible things if they carry enough charisma or are privileged enough in society, alongside conveying the way repression often makes trauma seem surreal or exaggerated, but also its meta-commentary on the way the erins wrote this book wherein the only reason thistleclaw is portrayed as evil is because he trains in cat hell. i think, in the universe im relaying, this would be starclan’s logic for why he’s in the dark forest. forget him taking advantage of a child, he was just a little bit too jingoistic compared to the rest of us, which is what is unforgivable!

2. consult the spottedleaf playlist i just made yet again — a life without sex is a life without sin, so on and so forth

3. consult the post i made beforehand where i described her as an inversion of leafpool. their stances on faith and love form a sort of helix that unites only when leafpool is an apprentice and spottedleaf is her lovely starclan mentor. as soon as leafpool rejects the chastity that spottedleaf has based her whole understanding of religion (the safest place she has) on, spottedleaf believes she is betraying starclan as a whole, and partially that she’s betraying spottedleaf herself. in my ideal world spottedleaf is behind the ‘squirrelflight is barren’ lie and that entire po3 adoption situation is the breakage point for the two leafgirls

as ThunderClan scrambles to find a medic replacement in, the former ThunderClan cats of StarClan begin to descend into discourse as Spottedleaf insists on waiting for her old pawn protege to return and refuses to acknowledge whoever ThunderClan presents to them as Leafpool’s replacement. Eventually, that’s what drives her out of StarClan’s hunting grounds to journey on and find the runaways.

Meanwhile Mothwing volunteers to train the apprentice ThunderClan chose for the role but uses her access to ThunderClan’s camp to try and figure out where her dearest friend had ran off to.

If there’s one idea I really like in au’s where Leafpool and Crowfeather actually do run away, it’s the idea of the three being raised away from the Clans and returning with an outsider’s gaze on how repressive and violent they can be
