How is the BMFM/Trigun story coming along? How about the updates to Wars Are Won and Evil Jack? <3
Oh boy, my current events.
I got the edits finished on Star Wars: Rescue the Farmboy: Mission on Mimban and started posting it on Ao3 starting on Oct. 18. I finished up rereading Shadows of the Empire for Star Wars WIPs in the rest of October.
When November started, I started on taking my beta's edits to make the third draft of Trigun: Three of a Kind, which is the crossover with Biker Mice From Mars. And then on Nov. 6th, my father ended up in the ER with a brain bleed and seizures from that.
He's doing incredible well and is going back to short-term rehab hospital tonight. But I have only edited 15 out of 21 days so far this month. I was hoping to start posting Trigun: Three of a Kind after Mission on Mimban but it's kind of out of my complete control.
I have gotten Evil Jack: Till Death Do We Part back from my beta, so next up is making the third draft and then publishing. Wars Are Won: Sacrifice of Happiness, the first draft wasn't working so I had to start over giving it some conflict. And then I ran out of August.
When do I pick BMFM WIPs up again? Some months in 2025 that I haven't decided on yet. December 2024 was set for me to work on BookWorm's Library updates, which should be limited to cleaning up dead links and adding new stories. I don't think that will take all of December, so I should have free time to keep plugging at edits. But it all depends on real life not destroying my free time.

Cartoons that start out silly or fun, but get darker/more serious themes, the longer the series progresses.

Feel free to add some more.
Edit#4: Since this post is getting way more attention than I ever thought it would have, how about I'll promote some of my work? Do you like cartoons and fanfiction? Then go check out my work on AO3!
Go leave a kudos and a comment, if you' will.
Edit: I went to bed and woke up to 200+ notes.
Edit2: I had to disable notifications for this post, 'cause my phone was beeping non-stop .
Edit 3: I just realized that I forgot to put "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "Amphibia" in there... added them and removed Over the Garden wall.

Alright this is all I'm gonna say about this but after 10 episodes this show whole moral goodness dilemma/debtors vs rich people before the climax in the next 2 episodes: Joke better not be the only one growing and understanding stuff, Jack needs to have also acquired some level of moral nuance during these 10 episodes too, after being a debtor/becoming a debt collector/helping people while being their debt collectors/"freeing himself" from that situation/and spending his whole life watching people exist in that infernal cycle with no way out, he should have moral nuance, and we are at a stage he should understand his boyfriend's way of thinking now to a level that Joke lying to him about the ring shouldn't be an issue that takes more than 10/20 minutes to digest, forgive Joke and come up with a plan to fix it together with Joke and the gang all in that time frame

I do not trust a single hair on Rose's head. I do not think she is any better than Lompran. (This does not mean I think she needs to marry him or deserves his stalkerish behavior though. Two things can be true at once.) Rose knew good and well that Jack was about to pay off his debts and that the boss would be pulling some shady shit to keep Jack just for her. Rose knows the power she wields.
Why could Rose not pay off the debt that Tattoo's mom now owes because of the game? Is she not rich? Is she not clever enough to find a way around those rules? Hiring them as servants in her father's house? Why not just set them free? If she is so angry that Lompran tricked them like that. If she truly feels the injustice of it all. Why not set them free?
She's not any better than Lompran's cosplaying as a poor person wearing rags and covered in dirt. She just hides it better. She wants to be their savior without saving a single one of them. Because she knows if she saves them she will lose her power over them. Rose is very good at pretending to be kind. No wonder Joke sees right through her.
Joke has always been a good judge of character. And the fact that someone as forgiving as Joke looks at Rose and sees a threat (not just a romantic one but a general threat to the community) and he chooses to stand against her says a lot about her character. She might have everyone else fooled but Joke knows her kind. He probably grew up knowing many women just like her. And if there is one character I trust in this show to know who is a good person and who is someone to be wary of? It's Joke.
So I'm not gonna trust a single thing Rose says or does because she spent oh so much money upgrading the hospital room for Jack's grandmother, but did she stop in and introduce herself and get to know his grandmother? Did she think of using a single dime of that money to help Tattoo? "His project wasn't marketable." So? You know marketing. Tell him what he needs to do for you to invest. There are a million ways Rose could have helped and instead she chooses the one way that keeps her in power over the people she claims to want to help.

I just realized that the boss was so unbothered and unfazed by having to give Jack’s ring back to him, now that he had payed his loans, was because now he knows that he has an even more valuable thing to Jack that he could take as collateral, which is the grandma

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who rolled my eyes when Rose said "with a whole new body, you can always start over" because I was like "with what money, Rose?"
Rose represents the side of society that thinks they're being kind and generous but never actually stops to consider if or who they're actually helping when they do. She thinks she can help and that what she does is to help them but the real truth is that she has no idea what she's doing and she doesn't even know how little show knows.
It is easy to look down from a place of wealth and say that they can restart because even when you fall, it's a different kind of fall. Rose always has money and power to fall back on so for her it only makes sense.
But that's because of fundamental misunderstanding. Just like she would never understand Jack's sacrifices to take care of his grandmother. Just like she would never understand Aran's new life. Just like she would never understand Joke falling apart after seeing his father.
Rose has a life that is truly blessed but she assumed that her life is the default and the only different is access to luxuries rather than the fundamental differences in their lives.

WIP Progress report
Half the year is done and I have been busy.
January 2024 & June 2024: Trigun: Three of a Kind -- I have finished my edits and it is with my beta reader.
February 2024: Cookbook -- this project is mostly me consolidating collecting recipes into a Scrivener cookbook project. It only gets worked on when I have nothing else to do. February had vacation to Universal Studios and uploads to Ao3, but I got caught up in writing what I call ad posts for DUF and Tumblr and forgot that there are still six old stories and thirteen fanmixes to upload. Oops.
March 2024: Biker Mice From Mars: Wars Are Won: Sacrifice of Happiness -- finished the first draft.
March 2024: Biker Mice From Mars: Evil Jack: Till Death Do We Part -- finished the first draft.
April 2024: Strix: Forget the Sun -- still writing the first draft.
May 2024: Star Wars: Rescue the Farmboy: Mission on Mimban -- finished my edits and it is with my beta reader.
July 2024: BookWorm's Library update -- this one has turned into some behind the scenes changes to make things easier for me in the future when I really didn't have stories ready to be published. But I did find the FanFiction Garret files, so I can add that section with the next update.
August 2024: Finished my edits on Evil Jack: Till Death Do You Part and it's with my beta reader now. Tweaked the future stories order in the Wars Are Won By Those Who Dare series. But my edits on Wars Are Won: Sacrifice of Happiness ended up having to taking a new course in the second draft. I forgot about complications in the story itself because I was so busy setting up future payoffs.
This is my third year focusing (as best I can) on one project a month before jumping to a new one, and I am starting to see results in so many projects. Getting the Library's website updated with new material is a huge one, along with getting back to old fandoms. Plans for the rest of the year:
September 2024: back to writing Strix: Forget the Sun
October 2024: finish the edits on Rescue the Farmboy: Mission on Mimban and start posting it.
November 2024: finish the edits on Trigun: Three of a Kind and start posting it.
December 2024: back to updating the BookWorm's Library and I should have stories ready to go on it by then.
I hope the next four months are productive for you too.

okay now that maws has officially introduced the evil alternate superman concept into the show I think it’s necessary to point out that across nearly every dc media revolving around Superman going rogue (not including ones where his upbringing is changed) the tipping point for his every downfall is almost always the death of Lois Lane.
Superman The Animated Series - Brave New Metropolis - Lois is doing a story on Intergang and getting too close to exposing them, so they bomb her car. Clark takes this as a realization that he’s fighting a war, and so has to take extreme measures to protect people; these extreme measures include teaming up with Lex Luthor for the sake of his vast resources and establishing a dystopian police state within Metropolis, however it’s important to note that Luthor abused his newfound authority to that dystopian extent, and Clark was genuinely unaware of the city’s true conditions.
Injustice - The Joker tricks Superman into killing [a pregnant] Lois and destroying Metropolis by detonating a nuclear bomb she is strapped to. Superman goes mad with grief and rage, kills the Joker in that infamous fist-through-the-chest-heart-ripping panel, and continues to slowly deteriorate into an amoral dictator over the course of five years. Eventually he establishes a borderline-fascist regime called One Force Earth, ironically intended to “enforce global peace,” but at the cost of the entire world’s personal freedoms (STAS also had an episode about this, featuring Mala and General Zod as the dictators in question).
MAWS is heavily focused on Clark and Lois’ relationship and his status as an alien as elements of his becoming Superman–and given that we’ve already been shown glimpses of the multiverse, alternate Super-tyrants, and an entire legion of Loises who more or less survived their respective Clarks, I think it’s very possible that some of the Soups we see in Mxy’s orb are Supermen who’ve either lost their Loises or their upbringing with the Kents—Supermen who have utterly lost or utterly lacked the very elements that this show emphasizes as being what makes Clark who he is, and I think it would add so much more tension between Clark and Lois and the rest of the world to know that their safety and his sanity basically hinges on this one woman he’s fallen into major puppy-love with.
