You had never seen your father cry like that. He held his head in his hands, shoulders shaking. His broken cries filled the empty halls of the manor. He was inconsolable.

Alfred was locked up in his room. All he could do was drink. Alfred smelt like a walking glass of scotch for over a week. He’d smile at you but it wouldn’t reach his eyes.

Selina had suggested Alfred take a small break. Get away from the manor and it’s memories. Alfred took her advice and left to spend a weekend in the countryside.

Selina could only spend so long with Bruce before she had to return to her side business. If she stayed in one place too long, the more likely Clark would find and kill her.

Selina’s departure was kind but short-lived. Then you were left all alone with your father.

Your sock-covered feet gently padded down the hall to Bruce’s room. You knocked and leaned your ear against the door.

A gravelly voice cut through the silence, “come in.”

Your father sat on the wood floor, leaning against the foot of his bed. He looked decrepit. When was the last time he showered?

You set down a small bowl of oatmeal and a glass of orange juice. He didn’t look up at you but muttered a small “thank you.” You moved to his other side and sat down.

Wordlessly you wrapped your arms around his shoulders and hugged him. “I know you’re hurting.” You take a beat before continuing, “I miss him too, Dad.”

Bruce tenses at the mention of his son. His oldest son. Taken from him far too soon. He nods and pats one of your arms still hugging him.

It’s clear he’s not in the mood to talk so you unwrap your arms and stand. You make your way out of his room and turn in the doorway. “By the way Dad, I’m heading over to Caroline’s for a sleepover. It might be the last chance I get…with the way things are going.”

With no response from him, you take your leave. You pack a small bag and wait at the front door for Caroline’s brother to pick you up. You’re sure he’ll be alright for just one night. Will he be okay for one night?

You shake the worries out of your head and put on a sweet smile as the silver car approaches. You can take this one night for yourself. Nothing too bad can happen in just one night.

If only you had noticed your father’s expression at the mention of Dick. He had slipped into the troubled depths of his own mind. He hadn’t heard a word you said. Maybe if you had payed closer attention, you could have saved what was left of his psyche.

Everything has changed. All for one stupid sleepover.

okay now that maws has officially introduced the evil alternate superman concept into the show I think it’s necessary to point out that across nearly every dc media revolving around Superman going rogue (not including ones where his upbringing is changed) the tipping point for his every downfall is almost always the death of Lois Lane.

Superman The Animated Series - Brave New Metropolis - Lois is doing a story on Intergang and getting too close to exposing them, so they bomb her car. Clark takes this as a realization that he’s fighting a war, and so has to take extreme measures to protect people; these extreme measures include teaming up with Lex Luthor for the sake of his vast resources and establishing a dystopian police state within Metropolis, however it’s important to note that Luthor abused his newfound authority to that dystopian extent, and Clark was genuinely unaware of the city’s true conditions.

Injustice - The Joker tricks Superman into killing [a pregnant] Lois and destroying Metropolis by detonating a nuclear bomb she is strapped to. Superman goes mad with grief and rage, kills the Joker in that infamous fist-through-the-chest-heart-ripping panel, and continues to slowly deteriorate into an amoral dictator over the course of five years. Eventually he establishes a borderline-fascist regime called One Force Earth, ironically intended to “enforce global peace,” but at the cost of the entire world’s personal freedoms (STAS also had an episode about this, featuring Mala and General Zod as the dictators in question).

MAWS is heavily focused on Clark and Lois’ relationship and his status as an alien as elements of his becoming Superman–and given that we’ve already been shown glimpses of the multiverse, alternate Super-tyrants, and an entire legion of Loises who more or less survived their respective Clarks, I think it’s very possible that some of the Soups we see in Mxy’s orb are Supermen who’ve either lost their Loises or their upbringing with the Kents—Supermen who have utterly lost or utterly lacked the very elements that this show emphasizes as being what makes Clark who he is, and I think it would add so much more tension between Clark and Lois and the rest of the world to know that their safety and his sanity basically hinges on this one woman he’s fallen into major puppy-love with.

Makes me so mad that they just threw Tim away in Injustice.

Like, Dick's death was symbolic. A major turning point. Poignant, even.

Meanwhile, Tim was trapped in the Phantom Zone for years, and not even ten minutes after getting released, he's killed off for shock value.

SPOILERS FOR INJUSTICE SERIES (games and comics)

I get that he’s actually legit powerful and could have been used by bats (he would never join Superman, he doesn’t believe in killing wether human or animal even though he was raised with Chief and the Doom Patrol), but like… why did they have to kill Beast Boy?

The worst part about it other than it feeling like they just killed him off cause he’s not as loved even though fucking RagMan was there at some point, it bothers me how little we saw of people reacting to it? It obviously crushed Superboy, given that he couldn’t save him, but did we ever see Dick or Cyborg react? Starfire thinks he’s missing or something I’m pretty sure, like she doesn’t actually know that he’s dead.

And Raven? Like, is that the reasons he chose to side with Superman? Or more so why she gave in to her father’s influence and all that? Because surely the death of Beast Boy fucked her over the most, especially when you think about her still being held captive by the prophecy even if she’s secretly only doing things for Trigon.

It just sucks how quickly he was gone, even with such a heartbreaking panel of Superboy holding his burnt up body.

I know I’m biased but I still think would have been so much more impactful is Beast Bot was alive but catatonic or something. Maybe he even comes back at some point after so much had happened and faces Cyborg and Raven, seeing two of the most important people in his life side with a tyrant. He’d also have to grieve people, like Kidflash and Nightwing or maybe he’s back at that point.

Maybe he’s in the Phantom Zone with the others, alive but barely, caught between death and life because of his place in the Zone and maybe that in itself is what saves him.

I just really want to see Cyborg and Raven to see their best friend who they love and just… fall apart. I want the guilt and shame and I want to see if they would try convince him to join them or if they would change sides just because Beast Boy, a symbol of life and fun and old times, asked them to.

I just want Beast Boy in Injustice.
