"Making up a song about Coraline
She's a peach, she's a doll, she's a pal of mine
She's as cute as a button
In the eyes of everyone who ever laid their eyes on Coraline...
Our eyes will be on Coraline."

A aromantic prince has been turned into a frog
It's a curse only true love can break
So he spends months trying to fall in love, trying to stop being who he is because god dammit he's not a frog either!
After yet another unsuccessful date, he begins to despair for his future which is looking more amphibious by the minute.
A loud noise disturbs his brooding as something comes crashing through the undergrowth. He's barely gotten his little froggy feet underneath him before a tiny (but still quite big if you're a frog!) hand is scooping him into the air.
A little kid sees the frog on the grass.
They grab it before he has the chance to protest and kiss him square on his slimy little head.
He transforms back into a very confused human.
No, this is not a Renesme moment, gross. Not romantic love or even friendship, just the blind joy of a kid who thinks frogs are super cool. The child loves every amphibian she's ever set eyes on, but that doesn't make it any less real. And she grows up to be a biologist who studies frogs, because of course she does. The prince pays her tuition as thanks for returning him to his proper form. She was like 4 years old at the time and doesn't even remember the frog incident - there's just some random rich dude paying for her college because of something she doesn't remember, but she's not complaining because grad school is expensive as heck.

It’s funny that Sumire is the one with the Cinderella persona and Akechi is the one with the prince outfit and yet the most Prince Charming-coded thing in the game is Joker holding onto a single glove, waiting for its owner to return after the magic that let them spend a brief time together was over. The glove is functionally the same as a glass slipper. So in conclusion detective prince? more like disney princess--

Hellooo may I request an MLM fairy tale-esque story of a knight trying to save a prince from a sorcerer's spell, but the cunning sorcerer tries to enthrall him as well? ✨️✨️
"Why did you come?"
"Where is he?"
"Duty?" the sorcerer offered.
"Where. Is. He?"
"I hope it was not love," the sorcerer said. His head tilted. "You once vowed you'd never fall in love with someone like him. A parasite of royal blood."
He's different. But there was no good way to say that, not to them.
The knight came to a stop before the twisted imitation of the throne. It was closer to smoke and dreams than the gold plated seat in the grand hall that he knew so well these days, but the sorcerer lounged upon it as if it were all the same. Just as real.
"It doesn't matter why I'm here." The knight drew his blade, heart hammering. "I'm here. I'll cut you through to get to him, if that is what it takes."
The sorcerer's lip curled. "Spoken like a true knight."
"Well, you steal princes like a true evil sorcerer, so I suppose we both know our roles these days."
"You have either forgotten yourself or betrayed yourself," the sorcerer said, "and I'm truly not sure which possibility is worth."
It stung. Maybe it was even true.
"The kingdom needs him. Let him go."
"You are enthralled in the services of a man who loves you like a tic loves blood." The sorcerer's gaze drilled into the knight. "How else could he or any of them ask you to fight me for them? To die for him?"
The knight took a step closer, then another, and it felt too easy to press the silver shine of the blade against the sorcerer's throat. "Let. Him. Go."
The sorcerer smiled. "Why did you come?"
"You know why." The knight's voice cracked.
The sorcerer was quiet for a moment, before they offered more of their throat to the blade. "Then spill my blood across the floor and claim your prize, knight. You know how to break an enchantment, don't you?"
The knight's eyes narrowed. The sorcerer's gleamed in the moonlight, haunted and haunting, enchanted and enchanting - nothing like the world beyond the castle, where day still shone and princes were missing.
They were still, despite everything, not something that the knight wanted to kill.
"Go on." The sorcerer's voice lilted through him, sweet and cruel as a childhood memory. "Do your duty. You know it, don't you? Why cling to this small fragment of who you used to be, to me? You are his now."
His. For him.
The knight's head felt misty, like the fog of magic, of the whole cursed place, was seeping into them like damp.
He slit the sorcerer's throat.
Then, in an instant, it was not the sorcerer in front of him at all. It was the prince, his prince. An illusion shattered, blood-choked, familiar eyes filling with colour as the thrall of enchantment cleared from them.
"No!" The knight lunged for him, to catch him, to somehow reverse what he had unknowingly done. He peppered kisses to the prince's sweaty hair, exposing himself utterly, as his love and his duty looked at him with the sort of pleading that could have been it's okay or I forgive you but was ultimately far more terrible than how could you. "No," the knight said. "No, please. I'm sorry - I didn't - I thought -"
The sorcerer laughed. They appeared from behind the throne, winding out of the mist like a serpent. The magic changed the palace to an altar, as shadowy as the last setting had been but for the stained glass vibrant and bloody behind them.
The prince whimpered and crumpled on nothing, on air, landing on his knees. He clutched at the knight's hands. He squeezed, some morse code that wouldn't make it past his cleanly ruined throat.
"Now," the sorcerer murmured, "tell me what you would do, my knight, to save him?"
The trap was clear enough, but still the knight said it. "Anything."
"You would give yourself to me instead?"
"Anything. Just let them go, unharmed."
"I would enthrall you. Turn you inside out until I can see all the stitches of you and rework them in my image."
The prince shook his head against the knight's neck. He wheezed. His weak grip flexed and tightened.
"I said anything," the knight spat.
"Then everything," the sorcerer said, "I will have."
As the magic slid over them all, the knight had just enough in them to register one final command, to feel their true surroundings come into focus beneath the spell of it all.
"Put our prince in the tower, my knight," the sorcerer said. "I'll let him go, unharmed....eventually."
The knight did as he was told.
He did his duty.

Once Upon A Time is such a fun show because it contains fanfics in it of itself. We get a modern au which is basically the entirety of season 1. We get a what if Emma kept Henry au in season 3. We get a what if the curse was never real and Emma was crazy in season 6. A role reversal au in season 4. A what if Emma grew up in the enchanted forest au in season 6. Also all the crossovers. Every single crossover. "My evil grandpa Peter Pan." Said the son of Rumpelstiltskin who had a child with the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming.
I never need Ao3 with this series because everything is already in it. Fuckin love it.

Here's my take on the wicked queen from the Brothers Grimm Snow White to accompany my Snow White design. It took forever to land on colours for the second outfit but I'm actually pretty happy with how these ended up. I gave her a hand mirror, just one out of many mirrors in her possession probably. I also gave her a name for my own headcanon of her.

Here's the two together!

Not sure if this was asked before, but what’s your favorite plot twist (or the one you think was the best written) in EC?
I've written about the Elluka-is-Levia twist before--genuinely I think that's the best one. I won't make another long essay about it but I think it added a ton of depth and really turned the series on its head.
Close second would be the Margarita-is-Eve twist. I adore it. I know a lot of fans come away from all this thinking the story unfairly maligns Eve but I really, really enjoy her as a villain. There was something so creepy about discovering that everything you knew about a character was wrong, that this part of the backstory which had up until this point been distant and far removed from the rest of the series was actually still relevant the whole time. It was Eve's debut in the novels, you know, not counting her other identities. Revealing that she had deceived not just Elluka but the reader as well.
It's true there are some parts of it that don't 100% work--I don't know what the deal was with Platonic, and she didn't sound particularly like Eve when speaking to Mikulia in her head--but there's so many elements that line up with it, I do truly think it was planned all the way back in the Daughter of Evil series, if not from the start. "Mikulia" being callous enough to murder her own child, the way the Sloth doll has been described as the "mother" of all sins, Irina carving it to look like Eve...It's one of those "the truth was staring you in the face all along" type reveals, but it just hadn't occurred to anyone as the kind of thing that could happen in-universe.
And it's one of those twists that's just. Not as easy to enjoy now that the cat's out of the bag, you know? Everyone takes for granted that Eve is the demon of Sloth, that most of the contracts in the series are unique in how they occur. But the twist completely changed how we (I, at least) viewed the series. The Seven Deadly Sins series frames itself as very formulaic with its first two books; contractor gets a demon vessel, makes contract, bad shit happens, they die and Elluka shows up too late to make any meaningful intervention or retrieve the vessel. The Sloth novel sets itself up as following this same formula. Only, we discover that there was never any demon and there was no contractor either. It was the spirit of a human mage instead, driven mad by living as a demon for centuries. It completely broke the formula.
And this also came at a time when the identities of the demons as a whole were largely unknown to us, so they were viewed as more monstrous beings (because all we knew was their corrupted animal forms). This made it stand out more that Eve was actually human, and thus not one of them. New fans of course know that the demons were all originally Second Period denizens, so Eve no longer feels like as much of an anomaly. I once had an anon ask what the line "false sin" meant in Crimes and Punishments because to their knowledge it was only "revealed" that Eve wasn't part of the original demon lineup in the OSS novels--No!!! it's referring to the twist of the Sloth novel! Argh!!!
Anyway, apologies for the long essay on that one. Another twist that I deeply enjoy and is absolutely ruined for all new fans forever is the reveal that Irina is the red cat, not the mage whose shoulder it perches on. The thing is that her (narratively) first host, Abyss IR, being an old woman gave her a semi-plausible reason to have history with the immortal Elluka, and it played into stereotypes about "evil old crones" besides (even Arkatoir talks smack about her for being old and creepy, which is doubly tragic in hindsight given that this was an innocent woman being controlled for who knows how long). And not knowing that it's actually the cat that's the problem creates a lot of mystery and tension with plot points like Elluka being "possessed" by Abyss, Mikina taking in the red cat later, etc. The beginning of the fourth novel starts with the heroes heading to Marlon to confront a great conspiracy that they believe Abyss IR is at the head of, and then when they get there they discover that she fucking died offscreen! Brilliant! Completely ruined by knowing the truth ahead of time!

Overall I think Eureka's monsters-as-disabilities metaphor works really well and I'm not a prude about fetish content in RPGs but like. Why is it always vore specifically. Why do Fairies have the option to vore people. What's going on here.
Well generally, Eureka uses monsters “eating people” to represent the human cost of people with unmet needs having to make their needs met by taking from someone else. Naturally this has attracted fans who relate to this metaphor from being disabled and having to make themselves burdens on others just to get by, people who have been or are so poor that stealing from others is sometimes their only option, and people who just really like vore.
Fairies actually are one of the few monsters that don’t really follow this metaphor, they’ve got something else going on entirely. However, they do restore Composure by using magic to torment people who offend or slight them, sometimes to death. So when you’ve got a fanbase who really like vore and they start making PCs with the Fairy Trait, the kind of fairies they sometimes create are those whose favorite form of cruel magical revenge for Composure restoration is to use magic to shrink the offending individual and swallow them alive.
