Rereading Syrup village and I forgot what a huge part of Usopp's character is about being shamed and put down for the very things he's proud about. Things he has no control over, like class or who his family is. Being ostracized for these things even, and doubling down on said pride almost as a coping mechanism. And he has evey right to.

The things Kuro says about him are so cruel. And if nobody's gonna say it I will; there's really racist undertones to Kuro's words as well. And maybe it's not meant to be the actual in-universe reading, but it's easy to read into it at the very least symbolically. Like damn this guy sucks. I've said it before, but he really is the cruel, dishonest liar opposed to Usopp as the kind story-crafter. Usopp tells Kaya stories to make her feel better, Kuro tells her lies to control her. And because Kuro seems ashamed to be a failure and a pirate himself, he projects this onto Usopp, who is used to getting treated that way. Seeing him stand up for himself like this is something I miss so dearly.

"I'm only speaking the truth". What a piece of shit. He really is the wolf in sheep's clothing that the boy cried about.

The whole statement from the "evil book" - mind you- "bound for all eternity, nothing can break or bind the evil" is a capital B big fat lie!

A dear anon has already mentioned this before here on my blog through an ask. The gullibility of Amaya and the rest of the people of rosas almost hurts. Of course an evil book would tell you there is no way to get out of the dark!

Disney isn't the first and only one who has been spreading the message of "True love breaks evey curse and true love overcomes all. And darkness can never be greater than the light."

From the christian perspective, it's more than clear that everything said by the evil book isn't trustworthy as far as salvation goes! Evil isn't stronger than the good and never will be!

It's also intersting to note that the evil force (green evil magic) is potrayed as this shadow entity 👇🏼

Also, why trust the words of something that literally does nothing but evil and harm?

Even if we look at the whole Magnifico situation purely objectively, like my cousins daughter, not through the lense of faith and leaving the knowledge of trauma aside, the "He's a villain now and can't be saved" is utter nonsense!

The first half of the movie we are told and shown Magnifico's true intentions. His ambitions and desires. We saw him being genuine all the way. He's always been honest and kind. He never lied, played or manipultated anyone and even further explained multiple times how he feels and why he does what he does. And then we are shown "the book" the big bad thing that will defenitly do harm and take posession of Magnifico should he use it!

That's the information! If Magnifico uses the book, he will be "controlled" by the evil from this book! This is what even Amaya said! Plain and clear.

Also, geeky side fact to the orgins of the book : Magnifico didn't get the book himself, nor did he built the evil lair where he later on created his staff. From the art book we know that he found both the book and the evil lair during the renovations. [ He's built his castle on top of an already existing building ] That means, Magnifico didn't even go to pursue such a book. He found it and kept it. Cause we already know why - trauma rooted fear, anxiety, paranoia.

If someone is controlled/posessed by something, it's more than clear that the person isn't at fault for the actions done by the evil in them! Just look at the insane difference!

Oh yeah ... I know a posession by evil if I see one. And in this case, we had the facts served on a silver tray. It's not even a guessing game.

The only thing we can hold Magnifico accountable for is the fact he did reach for the book. But then again, we also need to consider WHY he did. Reason - his trauma! He was terrified!

If the book hadn't been there, believe me, this poor man would have had the worst mental breakdown and we would have probably found him huddled together on the ground suffering out his panic attack.

People don't understand the merry go round of thoughts a traumatized person has. And the emotions that come with it. In a situation as intense as Magnifico's we do have a domino effect. Or a wildfire-effect. One tiny spark on dry grass will eventually lead to a big fire. He was already triggered and highly stressed out, and severly traumatized people oftentimes aren't able to make the best decissions - or decissions at all.

If I think about it - if I had suffered a trauma as intense as Magnifico, already more than burdened with anxiety, fear and paranoia, and then something happens that triggers me immensely, I spend an entire night feverishly searching for an answer or solution, no sleep, no food, immense stress…. on top of that, no one in the entire kingdom that truly understands me ... Boy, I'd probably freak out and snap too.

The most support he's gotten during his spiral of misery was a pat to the shoulder. Not one single hug, no truly comforting words, a gentle stroke over his cheek, a kiss, truly loving words. That poor man got nothing!

Btw this is a quote from my cousins daughter. And she told it to my face randomly before I could even say anything! She said "You know, Magnifico isn't bad. The book is. He only wanted to protect everyone but the book made him evil. Bad book!"

And if that wasn't already enough, her younger brother watched the movie as well and then also randomly told me, "Bad book!" Furthermore - I wheezed and cried of laughter, because 1. I didn't expect this and 2. it was absolutely brilliant! - The daughter sat at the table and was drawing again, and then she told me, "The movie ... the magician and the bad book ..." The title she gave WISH! She made Magnifico the protagonist and the evil book the villain! Exactly right!

Anyway, then it happens, everyone KNOWS Magnifico is "controlled/posessed" and yet all of the sudden he himself is the evil? What??

In the past ten decades, disney had always done a fantastic job in displaying true evil and the - true love always wins - message. Even with quite recent movies such as Tangled, Frozen, Encanto etc. We've been introduced to the trauma topic and that "antagonists" can and should be saved.

I mean, I'm absolutely glad that we got Magnifico the way we got him, but I'm enraged about the toxic stance toward trauma.

If I'm looking at what disney did in the tangled series with Varian and Cassandra, who both had a short time period where they've been pushed down the "villain" road by trauma and by the hurt of not feeling valued, seen, heard or treated right and how this got resolved, I can only shake my head at what disney did in Wish.

Cassandra as much as Varian in fact- especially Cassandra- threatened the whole kingdom and also strived to hurt Rapunzel more than just once.

And she wasn't directly posessed by evil but heavily manipulated and blinded by it. All her "Evil actions" were completelty on her! And Rapunzel stressed that no matter what, she'll never give up on Cassandra. Why? Because she truly loved her! Because she knew that this evil wasn't who she truly is.

Rapunzel said "Even when I look at you now, after all that's happened, no matter what we've done to each other, I still see that look in your eyes. You're my best friend, Cassandra, and I will never give up on you!"

Can you imagine what could have been if Amaya and all the citizens of Rosas would have had that attitude towards Magnifico? Truly loving him for who he is and not only seeing him as a source for favours? They all simply didn't care! If they had, they wouldn't have given up on him as quick as the snap of a finger.

So we've seen antagonists and semi-villains getting redeemed before and we've seen the "True love conquers all" more than enough, and now, especially with Magnifico, disney and some ignorant haters want to tell us that this isn't what could have happened to Magnifico too?

It's ridiculous!

And the citizens of Corona forgave both Cassandra and Varian!

Now, once more, the "book" said - nothing can bind the evil magic! Yet this is exactly what happened after the people of Rosas unified and sang! The lights glowing in their chests is actually symbolic for their hearts unifying! It was immediately stronger than the hold of the evil magic, even though the book said, it's untouchable!

The evil magic was bound, "star" was set free and Magnifico pulled into the curse realm. You cannot tell me if they all had done the same thing with the goal in their hearts to free and save Magnifico, that they wouldn't have succeeded.

Now, I don't hate Bakugou, anybody who has been following my blog long enough knows that.

But again, it will boggle the fuck out of me that there are Bakugou fans who hate Midoriya.

I just saw a post about how Bakugou had evey right to be angry at Midoriya for lying about his quirk and in the tags someone said how they found Midoriya’s crying annoying and that he's pathetic and the post is tagged anti-Deku.

... and the Bakugou picture used was of him crying.

Now, we're in 2023 and I can't believe we still have people not reading the manga carefully.

(Never blocked someone so fast... they liked one of my posts that was about Midoriya... THAT WASN'T EVEN ANTI MIDORIYA!)

Bakugou did not have every right to be angry at Midoriya as if Midoriya was in the wrong given that at the time their relationship was not at the best of terms. Technically, it wasn't even Bakugou's business.

It's understandable that Bakugou got upset because they known each other their whole lives and then there was that issue that Bakugou believed Midoriya thought he was better than Bakugou, but come on now.

Again, their relationship wasn't on the best terms. Midoriya didn't resent Bakugou, but he damn sure doesn't owe him every single thing.

And yet, Midoriya actually ran after Bakugou to give him some explanation. If he did not care, then he wouldn't have done that. Mind you, he was injured!

Second, Midoriya lied to everyone. Bakugou ain't that special now. MIDORIYA FUCKING HAD TO. He could not just blurt out that he got his quirk from All Might because IT WOULD HAVE PUT PEOPLE IN DANGER. It wasn't like he liked lying!

Why you think his OFA was registered as a strength quirk? Duh!!

Seriously, that's the reason you hate Midoriya?

Because he did something to PROTECT PEOPLE INCLUDING BAKUGOU?!

Standouts:

1. Sanjay Tawde

Voiced by Karan Brar from Jessie. Literally brought me back. I love that such a simple change to the character made me so happy evey time I saw him on screen. Like its Jason but its also Karan. I loved the little details they put into him. He's always reading, you can tell he's been lectured about his foul mouth by all the stand-ins he has for actual cuss words. He's happy-go-lucky former street rat Jay Jay. More from him in the future I beg.

2. Brucie

This movie is a stone throw away from hitting all of the baby girl marks for Bruce Wayne. Very not okay mentally. Very scrumply umply. Very much loving life with his babies🥺. He's a dramatic bitch, I could not be more proud. (Very in love with Harvey) like he would've been so happy on the high seas with his little family.

Also love an old timey batman. Like bruce shouldn't exist in any other time period after watching this.

3. Ollie

Very bimbo, very drunk, very he would flash his titties if he had them(and you know they're bright pink and pretty)

Ollie being a drunk will always be my favorite Ollie. He's serious when he needs to be but I'm glad we didn't get too much of that as it detracts from his beauty.💅🏿

Now about the the actual movie:

I remember going into this movie saying to myself they better not kill my babies and what the f*** did they do. Like after a certain point in the movie I didn't know what was going to happen. I enjoyed every crazy ass turn they took. I love what they did for the Cassandra (Kai Li)of that universe too. All the characters were their same weird freaky selves in different fonts, I hope they make something like this again😭 (I'm probably going to edit and add to this post cause I'm fresh out and still processing oml)

Maps stretched out

The day after Peter ships out, the maps start appearing on the wall of the Fifth form common room at St. Maurice’s. Europe as a whole at first, then Italy, the Mediterranean, Greece, Germany, France...

He takes them home with him at the end of the term, Edmund Pevensie does, scatters them over his (and Peter's) room, mixed up with newspapers and letters in Peter's dashing handwriting.

Too many miles to count

He tries to find closer maps, more detail, tracing his finger across mountain ranges and down coastlines. He spans the entire Allied line with his thumb. He'd never felt the world to be so big before, never felt so small. Narnia had been such a small country. How long would it take to sail around the Cape of Gibraltar? How long would it take to fly to Sicily?

Sometimes he does the math. Sometimes he doesn't.

Let's just say we're inches apart

Remember watching the stars with Oreius? How you'd sketch them with your finger so carefully? How we'd lie out in the grass with Era and Philip, in silence sometimes, for hours? There were so many stars out there in the country. Some nights I'm lucky to see stars here. But when I do I imagine you seeing the same ones, mapping your way the way to well, your way to me. Sometimes I swear I can feel you beside me in the dark, little brother.

He lies in Peter's bed, letter in his hand, falls asleep with paper between his fingers.

The maps on the wall grow a forest of colored heads and tiny flags, and anyone who wants war news or any better understanding of the progression of the European theatre goes to the Fifth's common room.

To remind us where we've been

He takes a map down to the stables sometimes, unrolls it on the table in the harness room, sits patiently as Master Gringham pores over it, searching for the boy who rode his horses like no one else, all of them trying to coordinate themselves.

The horses miss you, he writes to Peter. Have you had a chance to ride recently?

And evey mile adds up

He lies alone in their room, catching the faint murmurs of his parents downstairs, and he can't remember the last time he cried on Christmas, but he's doing it now, hot salt water on Peter's pillow, as Bing Crosby croons on the wireless in the girls' room down the hall.

Please, God, please let him come home safe, please let him be happy, please.

Leaving its mark on us

I was grieved to hear of your wounding, brother, but truly grateful it was not more serious. I wish I could be there, to make sure you were getting proper care and treatment. Be careful, please. There's a black and white photograph folded in with the thin paper, and there he is smiling up at them all, officer's cap set at a jaunty angle, shirtless with a bandage on one forearm. Peter hugs a scruffy looking mongrel dog close, hand rubbing the pointed ears, and Ed smiles back at the living shadow of his brother.

Warm spring sunshine splashes over Ed's face, and he leans on his spade, brushes mud off his hands, and surveys the dark turned earth of the school's Victory Garden, listens to the first formers laughing as they fling dirt clods at each other.

So true. I personally don't like the eddie&tommy dynamic, it's so irritating and I don't even know why, but why make stuff up. Just say you don't like it? I also know I would've loved eddie to take care of buck, so my buddie heart is just bleeding a little but I'm trying to like bucktommy because I love the show and the characters and it seems like they're in it for the long haul, so.. people inventing shit to make themselves miserable will hopefully have to give up soon

and i think you are absolutely valid for that, believe me, i don't like evey dynamic on any show or any ship be it canon or fanon, i happened to like most of Buck's LIs and funnily enough the one that seems the most popular (aside from Tommy) is my least favourite of all lmao

and as i said before, even if Buck and Tommy ends up getting married and having kids and whatnot, that won't make me stop shipping buddie and even if buddie happens or both Buck and Eddie ends up with someone entirely new or with each other, that won't stop me from shipping bucktommy, i just genuinely don't see what's so complicated about any of this

i feel like people acting all nasty and dumb over their ships have never had a ship where one half was canonically married or frankly, have been in any other fandom before... it's all fake and it's for fun, there's not much more to it imo

So… it turns out I lied about being done with Evey’s fic. Here’s a bit of her and her maidservant in Braavos:

The dwarf’s?” Evelynne blinked and stared, but her surprise soon turned to understanding. She might have drawn the same conclusion, given such a slanted set of facts. Not only is this a great movie it also has a great message. A lot of people argue of what that message is, but for me personally it’s fighting for something worth fighting for. Fighting for real freedom, real love, and real expression of one’s self. V does what he does because of Valerie. They were his cell mate and later on in the film Evey reads the same letter that was left for V from Valerie, and you can see why V does what he does even though he knows how he will be viewed for it. As Valerie is telling her story you see the love they had in their life, the struggles they went through, and even their best moments. Even towards the end Valerie never lost who they were and wrote “I remember how the meaning of words began to change. How unfamiliar words like “collateral” and “rendition” became frightening while things like “Norsefire” and the “Articles Of Allegiance” became powerful. I remember how “different” became dangerous. I still don’t understand it, why they hate us so much. They took Ruth while she was out buying food. I’ve never cried so hard in my life. It wasn’t long till they came for me. It seems strange my life should end in such a terrible place. But for three years, I had roses and apologized to no one. I shall die here. Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch but one. An inch. It is small, and it is fragile and it is the only thing in the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us. I hope that, whoever you are, you escape this place. I hope that the world turns and things get better. And to be completely honest it’s an idea that’s worth fighting for.

Da LJS eu escolhi depois de ler os Novos 52 da equipe, então sabia que queria uma filha da Madame Xanadu e da Magia. Pensei em fazer o Miles filho do Nick Necro, mas depois decidi que ele seria filho de pessoas normais e foi resgatado pelo Constantine. O Andy é um dos meus personagens favoritos da DC, então eu precisava dele. Os irmãos Morningstar tive a ideia por causa do livro Paraíso Perdido onde dizem que Lúcifer e Satã são meio que a mesma pessoa, mas com personalidades diferentes, e assim surgiu inspiração pro Adam e pra Evey (que foi muito acidente, eu juro que não pensei nos nomes como referência, um leitor apontou isso anos depois kkkk)

Pro Stormwatch, mesma situação, eu li os Novos 52 e tive várias ideias vendo a equipe. Eu já tinha o Joe e a Natasha que criei pra primeira temporada de DS, aí criei o Dale e a Donatella, que não tinham nenhuma ligação com heróis além de terem sido treinados por eles. A Karina, o Rusty e o Dorian eu fiz me inspirando mais nas animações da DC (tipo Jovens Titãs e Liga da Justiça Sem Limites) e o Ranger é um mistério total ele só apareceu kkkkk

Talvez eu tenha levado outras coisas em consideração, mas fazem quase 10 anos que criei esses personagens, então não lembro exatamente de tudo hehe
