Everyday I think about Gaza
When I go to bed, warm and comfortable. I think about the freezing people in tents who barely have scraps to keep them alive
When I take a shower, unafraid of the water stopping or going cold. I think of the people in gaza who havent showered for months and barely have clean drinking water.
When I watch my brother play with his race cars and my sister with her dolls, I think about the children, who despite all their hardships still find ways to smile and play
When we sit down to eat dinner, never having to fear food on the table the next day. I think about the starving mothers who can't feed her children and the older siblings walking miles to feed his siblings. I think about the people who died of starvation. I think about the people of gaza
When I go to my school where my friends chat and my teachers teach, I think about the universities demolished and the aspiring students who are no more
When my parents leave for a few hours and I take care of my siblings, I know they'll be back in a while to take over. But what about the teenagers turned parents? What about the orphans caring for toddlers? What about the children in gaza
Every day I think about the hopeful people of Palestine. The brave people of Palestine. The relentless people of Palestine. The stubborn and beautiful people of Palestine.
When I look at my house, the buildings, the sky, the water, my family, the lights, the sun, the internet, the food, my school, my friends, the children, the parks, the birds, the cats, the toy stores, the supermarkets, the bustling crowds, the heavy traffic
my world so full of life...
I think about Gaza

Idk if this is accurate or something but I feel like I need to express it.
I am extremely conflicted with the ruling from the ICJ, though I am glad it was in favour of South Africa it is upsetting that there wasn't immediate action, I don't know how much they can enforce on that front but it is shameful to think that the Palestinian people have the time to wait for incremental change when they are being bombed and gunned everyday and that their food and aid is blocked by Israel. It is maddening to see and the only hope I have from this ruling is that more countries will put Israel on trial, that it causes other countries like South Africa to pressure the ICJ to make an immediate change... but unfortunately, only time will tell, and I am so tired of it
#palestine#free palestine#like I just want this to stop#the suffering Palestinians deal with everyday and people think that this incremental approach can still be a win#i don't blame Palestinians being angry about it I mean I feel that#gaza#free gaza#ugh I'm all over the place but essentially I am just tired that any positive change seems so slow when suffering is happening every second

I hope people remember.
When Gaza is razed to the ground I hope people remember those who were lost. When the rest of the Palestinians who are being massacred all across Palestine are gone I hope the world remembers them all. I hope those who loved them celebrate their memory.
I hope the people whose hands are coated in the blood of these beautiful, brave people remember. I hope they are haunted by their actions every single moment of their entire lives. I hope they feel the suffering that every single Palestinian felt every second of their lives. I hope it's the last thought in their head when they die.
I will remember. I will never forgive.
#palestine#current events#the entire sky is red in gaza tonight#im trying so hard every day to keep it together but every single day this continues a piece of me is carved out#everytime I think it cannot get worse it does#im so worried that my friend will stop replying to my messages bc shes gone and I wont know it until later#shes a school teacher there#shes the most beautiful soul and im so sickened to think of her being gone#if she is taken from me I'll hate the entire world#and now they've e n tered the west bank and i have family there and I cannot stop thinking every day I'll get the news they are gone too#just like the 50 familes ENTIRE familes that were slaughtered#im so stressed everyday that im physically sick#and like I should be used to this bc this happens every year and im always hearing about someone dying but its never been like this before#never like this#they never saw us as humans and now they are exterminating us#ive looked into those soldiers eyes as a child and I saw no humanity for me there#tw: genocide

I need elections to be over cuz this is what its been basically like dealing with (mainly) white leftists (accelerationists tbh)
#just screaming into the void#voting tag#talking brick walls with white “leftists”#who prop themself as the defacto voice for marginalized groups#and never have to worry about another trump presidency#talk about how theyre single issue voters because their concept of leftism boils down to “i read yhe spark notes of the communist manifesto”#and decided to join the left out of spite and guilt for being raised a Christian instead of love and want for progress#and as such refused to break down their deeply rooted right wing ideologies before actually engaging with praxis#which is also why gaza is such an easy single issue for them because if they actually truly cared about genocide#they would have to acknowledge the genocide black and brown people go through in America everyday and work on fixing that#but they don want to#they rather just sacrifices all the vulnerable people in society just to prove a point and make yhemselves feel better#by saying all yhose vulnerable people “deserved it”#because at their core they arent acyually leftists#they are accelerationists who think that they will be the ones to survive and “bring on a new world” (they wont)

I can't stop thinking about the news out of Palestine. Israel is sieging al Shifa hospital. Videos of people's limbs being severed off are haunting (graphic video tw). The hospital has ran out of fuel and 39 babies in incubators are fending for their lives by themselves, because Israel has stationed snipers around the hospital and is shooting all medical crew that walks into their sight.
First, the narrative was Israel would never bomb hospitals. Now, the hospitals are Hamas bases. Then, we respect journalists. Now, we have a fucking kill list of journalists because they are Hamas collaborators. First, we are not letting fuel in until the hostages are released. Now, we are not accepting the hostages back because that would stop our ground invasion and let Hamas win. And I could go on about every single lie they're making up. If you look up "Hamas rape" on google, the first link leads to Times of Israel saying Israel has found no forensic evidence of sexual violence, and only one eyewitness testimony out of 3.5k people attending the rave. If you Google "Hamas beheaded babies" the top links say they have no evidence for the claim besides word of mouth from extremist soldiers. Israeli extremists think about the ugliest goriest scene they can make out in their sick heads, tell that to a international journalist and they run away with it like it's gospel.
And children are being killed in the name of these lies. Thousands are being displaced in images that remind me of the pictures of Tantura 75 years ago, with their hands up so the tanks don't shoot them. Amputees are leaving the hospitals in wheelchairs hours after their surgeries because they are being shot at. Elders who survived the Nakba on 48 are having to walk towards Southern Gaza on foot (imagine walking from one end of your city to the other on foot), displaced again. People are cheering for the haunting images of white phosphorus bombs being dropped over Gaza. Gazan workers who were arrested in the West Bank are being thrust back into the bombings wearing numbered labels.
This is not normal. We are seeing the early stages of the settler colonial genocide of an indigenous population. Native leaders who have visited Gaza say its refugee camps look eerily like reservations. We can stop this. For the first time we are able to see wide scale accounts from the hands of the people suffering the genocide, and Israel is so scared of it they have cut all communications in Gaza.
This is our litmus test. I think we have never seen more clearly, with Palestine, Armenia, Congo and Sudan how colonialism has made our world a rotten place to live in.
The South African apartheid collapsed due to boycotts. We have to do everything in our power to stop Israel's hegemony. Even talking to a group of friends about Palestine changes the status quo. There's no world where we can live peacefully if Israel accomplishes their goals.
Keep yourself updated and share Palestinian voices. Muna El-Kurd said every tweet is like a treasure to them, because their voices are repressed on social media and even on this very app. Make it your action item to share something about the Palestinian plight everyday. Here are some resources:
Al Jazeera, Anadolu Agency, Mondoweiss
Boycott Divest Sanction Movement
Palestinian Youth Movement is organizing protests and direct action against weapons factories across the US
Mohammed El-Kurd (twitter / instagram)
Muhammad Shehada (twitter)
Motaz Azaiza (instagram) - reporting directly from Gaza.
Hind Khudary - reporting directly from Gaza. Her husband and daughter moved South to run from the tanks but she stayed behind to record the genocide. The least we can do is not let her calls fall on deaf ears.
You can participate in boycotts wherever you are in the world, through BDS guidelines. Don't be overwhelmed by gigantic boycott lists. BDS explicitly targets only a few brands which have bigger impact. You can stop consuming from as many brands as you want, though, and by all means feel free to give a 1 star review to McDonalds, Papa John, Pizza Hut, Burger King and Starbucks. Right now, they are focusing on boycotting the following:
Carrefour, HP, Puma, Sabra, Sodastream, Ahava cosmetics, Israeli fruits and vegetables
Push for a cultural boycott - pressure your favorite artist to speak out on Palestine and cancel any upcoming performances on occupied territory (Lorde cancelled her gig in Israel because of this. It works.)
If you can, participate in direct action or donate.
Palestine Action works to shut down Israeli weapons factories in the UK and USA, and have successfully shut down one of their firms in London. Some of the activists are going on trial and are calling for mobilizing on court.
Palestinian Youth Movement is organizing direct actions to stop the shipping of wars to Israel. Follow them.
Educate yourself. Read into Palestinian history and the occupation. You can't common sense people out of decades of propaganda. If your arguments crumble when a zionist brings up the "disengagement of Gaza", you have to learn more.
Read Decolonize Palestine. They have 15 minute reads that concisely explain the occupation (and its colonial roots) and debunk popular myths, including pinkwashing.
Read on Palestine. Here's an amazing masterpost.
Verso Book Club is giving out free books on Palestine (I personally downloaded Ten Myths about Israel by Ilan Pappe. If you still believe in the two states solution, this book by an Israeli professor debunks it).
Call your representatives. The Labour Party in the UK had an emergency meeting after several councilors threatened to resign if they didn't condemn Israeli war crimes. Calling to show your complaints works, even more if you live in a country that funds genocide.
FOR PEOPLE IN THE USA: USCPR has developed this toolkit for calls, here's a document that autosends emails to your representatives and here's a toolkit by Ceasefire in Gaza NOW!

I am trying to write a post and yet nothing is coming to me. I don't think there is anything left to be said. Massacres-food shortages-polio epidemic of Gaza, I have talked about it all in an effort to fundraise for my friend Siraj Abudayeh ( @siraj2024 ). Mostly because this is what his life has come to, despite not having any say in it at all. A settler colony willed to destroy Gaza and because of that for almost a year, Siraj and his family are:
having to live in a tent, where there is no relief from either heat, cold or rain
where sand mites and insects keep pestering the family all day long
causing a breakout of infections amongst Siraj’s sons, and putting the rest of their cousins at risk
since right now all of Siraj’s extended relatives ( 23 family members) are currently living with him after being displaced in an IOF attack
I have talked about this and more. I have talked about how every day Siraj has to take risks and go to Deir al-Balah just to get a steady hotspot connection so that he may campaign for his fundraiser and how after all this he gets harassed online because he is a journalist who gives us his daily updates. Beyond this I do not know what else to say to you so that you may donate to Siraj and help him cross this last lap of his fundraiser.
Recently Siraj posted an update about the massacre at al-Mawasi camp and it hits you hard when you realize that this camp is just 2 km away from Siraj’s own. Everyday when he sends me a message, I breathe a sigh of relief because after all these months- from our first tentative hellos to now when we crack jokes after a machine translated chat goes wrong, there is always a fear that maybe this might just be our last interaction. I know these thoughts have nothing to do with the fundraiser in itself, but my point is, as a friend, Siraj has requested that I help him reach 82k and right now this is all I can do. So please donate even if it is $3 USD ( $5 CAD). The fundraiser has trickled to almost a crawl and this makes Siraj worry. At least the gfm reaching its goal would be one less burden on him. He has fought so hard for this, please do not let him down now.
Currently at $78,248 / $82,000 CAD. Only $3752 CAD left to reach his goal. That is approximately 2.7k USD.
Please donate and get Siraj to his goal by this Monday. You got him this far, do not abandon him now.

UPDATE 9/4/2024: we will be closing down the old campaign because mohamed was having issues with the guy hosting it. i'm hosting a new campaign which i am linking below. THIS IS THE UPDATED LINK.
(this is a verified campaign and is 192 on the vetted fundraiser sheet)
mohammed @save-mohamed-family has been trying to raise money to save his family for a while on tumblr, and he raised a significant amount of money but the bank his beneficiary was using abruptly shut his account down and he lost all his progress. a lot of banks and money services have been arbitrarily freezing or shutting down the money palestinians are raising to survive this genocide, which is just an additional injustice for people already suffering so much. mohammed has since opened a new gofundme but its made very little progress.
please donate to this campaign– especially if youve donated in the past because gofundme will have refunded you
mohammed already lost his mother, father, and four sisters in the war who were killed in a bombing, and is now living in tents with his remaining family members. he was seriously injured in his foot and it may need to be amputated, but he told me that hes doesn't care if he loses his foot, he just doesn't want to lose his wife and children. his wife has uterine cancer but hasn't been able to get treatment because the genocidal israeli army has destroyed health centers. his children are suffering from infectious diseases spreading throughout gaza. there is practically no medical treatment or medicine available in gaza and the massacres continue everyday. food and water is scarce and priced exorbitantly. mohammed has made posts on his blog about their situation and i do encourage you to read his own words too.
please dont be desensitized to this just because it's been going on for so long. put yourself in his shoes and think about how you would feel– after nearly a year of the most destructive bombing campaign in history, living in hunger and pain every second with no home, no running water, no sanitation, not having a moment of security, subject to arbitrary decisions from an occupying force. no one should have to live like this.
the pain of losing so many family members, your home, your job, and everything you have is already unimaginable. please dont let him lose any more of his family. donate to this campaign and if you cant, share it with someone who can.
especially if you have a degree of disposable income i implore you to think about what you can reasonably give. it could be relatively small adjustment for you but make a significant difference for someone else.

i'm scared for the future of this world. how we've simply started tuning out news about burning children and bombed hospitals and a genocide.
just because you are hearing about it everyday shouldn't lessen the meaning of the word. it is a genocide. mass murder. forced starvation. millions of displaced people. thousands of people dead.
we live a privileged life to be able to tune out this. to tune out beheaded babies and burning teenagers. it's our tax money that funds this. the leaders we elected are committing these massacres.
i can't stop thinking about the children. how do they sleep and eat and play and learn? are we forgetting them already? it's just been a year. humanity is doomed if we have stopped caring about gaza in the span of a year.
do you know that it isn't normal for a four year old child to talk about bombs and airstrikes and death? my friend alaa's son is four. alaa's daughter is six. they've spent a huge chunk of their lives in a fucking tent because their house was bombed.
donate to her. help her secure a future for her children.

One of the most frustrating parts of the extreme rhetoric around Israel/Palestine (besides the obvious reliance on antisemitic & anti-Arab, Islamophobic tropes) is that it exceptionalizes so many things that are actually pretty standard features of nation-states and war in a way that completely compartmentalizes the criticism of these things into just being about criticizing the “few bad apple” countries instead of criticizing the entire institution of nation-states and war as a whole.
For instance: the fact is that war kills civilians, at an alarming average of 6:1 civilians-to-combatants deaths. The status quo of war, across the board, is that way more civilians die than combatants. And yet, despite the high death toll, despite Hamas using civilian infrastructure & noncombatants as human shields (which Hamas has openly admitted to doing), despite the imprecise & destructive nature of using bombs on urban targets, and despite the inadequate humanitarian aid that has been able to make it into Gaza… the IDF has still managed to stayed well below the average of civilian casualties.
The point of saying this is not “this is what war looks like so it’s not a big deal” it’s “this is what war looks like so we as a species need to stop doing it”—seeing the devastation war has brought to the people Gaza should move you, and it should make you never want to see another war again. It should make you want a ceasefire not just for Israel and this war but all wars always. And obviously, in practice, it’s not that simple—peace is more than “just don’t do war” and the thing about ceasefires and peace treaties is they kind of have to be mutual to mean anything—but the point stands: War Bad.
However, if instead you see the destruction in Gaza and think it’s an exceptional case, where Israel is evil and the only way war could be this destructive is genocide, you get to preserve this romanticized, idealistic fantasy of war as, violent yes, but perhaps only in a cathartic, tragic-but-beautiful way—a glorious struggle where two armies clash on a battlefield far removed from everyday life and only soldiers die. You get to preserve your belief in Just War, to look forward to a morally uncomplicated Glorious Revolution™️—you may even preserve your ability to cheer on the death of Israelis.
And that’s just one issue. There are others: the claim of “ethnostate” obscures criticisms of nation-states as a concept, the claim of “apartheid” obscures criticisms of how borders & citizenship are set up across the world, etc. This inverse Israeli Exceptionalism where Israel is treated as uniquely or exceptionally problematic isn’t simply discriminatory or rooted in prejudice (which are reasons enough to criticize it, as I have), it’s actively impeding the left’s ability to criticize the actual structural systems that are the problem.

Heba Zagout's art is so touching and beautiful you can feel her yearing and her hope. I'm so heartbroken that I didn't know her before her death. I keep looking at her work everyday and think about her and every artist in gaza and the children that are drawing under airstrikes everytime I look at my art supplies and see children schools with cute drawings on the buildings and doves because she always drew doves.

If you answered 'Yes' to the poll, please click on the link above, watch @mohamedmoner1994's video in full or loop it a few times if you can, like, save, comment supportive words, or talk about what TV shows you've been watching lately on the comment section to help boost the post in the algorithm (I'm also genuinely looking for recommendations :))
If you answered 'No', but are willing to create an account, please create an account, and do everything I mentioned above afterwards
If you answered 'No' and can't be bothered to make an account, below is Mohamed's gfm link. Please send at least £5 to support a cancer patient who hasn't received treatment for over a year, and whose loved ones are now terrified thinking they may lose her if she doesn't get any treatment soon.
And if you did everything I said above AND gave a donation as well, I hope good things happen to you all throughout this month, and that you receive pleasant and welcome surprises. You can also send any amount you can to Mohamed's paypal to help them afford everyday expenses:

One time in Human Anatomy and Physiology in high school, we were supposed to record how long we could continuously breathe out. I was a flute player, so I could breathe out for a pretty long time. But our teacher said we weren't supposed to record how long we can, but how long we feel like it, but longer than normal. That didn't mean anything to me, so I just ended my breath around when I thought a normal human might. We put them all on a graph and mine was so short it was outside the average human range. And someone was like "What about that one" and the teacher was like "Some people have a hard time breathing naturally when they're thinking about it" and I was so embarrassed and made a mental note to blend in better and now years later I know I'm an autistic with anxiety👉👉
I'm here today to talk about my friends Akram and Neveen and their children Yara (12), Ammar (10), Sarah (7), and Sham (5).
I actually got to talk with Neveen, Ammar, and Sham the other day on video call! This was so special for all of us. When I answered the phone, it was unexpectedly a video call and I scrambled to put on a hat because it was like two minutes after I woke up, and I said "Oh sorry, I got a little self-conscious there" and we laughed and she was like "you look pretty" 🤣
Laughing spending time with them was awesome, Neveen is friendly and warm. The kids were excited and telling me things in Arabic and Neveen kept having to remind them that this incompetent American doesn't know their language.
They loved my roommate's cat, Gandalf. Neveen asked what his name is and I said Gandalf and she gave me a look like "I love you but I have no hope of parsing what you just said" 🤣 So I uses Google translate to say "The cat's name is Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings, because he is grey."
They're resilient, but they're tired and scared. They haven't gotten a donation in ten days, which means they haven't been eating and are in dire need of everyday supplies. The cold rain is relentless, and they need blankets, winter clothes, and reinforcement for the tent.
Akram left Gaza just a day before the war began, and Neveen and the kids feel very alone stranded in Gaza. I can sense their silent anxiety that I might flake out, but they really do trust me, and our community here.
We are all the hope they have for survival, and I also trust that we are up to the task.

For the past 100 days, Israel has been waging a genocide campaign in Gaza without any sort of reprieve from western countries. Palestinians are suffering from a human-made famine, surpassing the scale and speed of any other famine enforced in the past 75 years. Healthcare professionals are being cornered into Rafah by constant airstrikes, sniper attacks and bombardments at hospitals, forced to leave patients and medical supplies behind. Unmaned quadcopters opened fire on the maternity and ICU unities of Al Aqsa Martyrs hospital and killed 8 civilians. Yesterday, the hospital ran out of fuel and the babies in incubators might die anytime soon. Only 127 aid trucks are being allowed into Gaza of the 500 allowed before the war, under "normal" blockade conditions. The distribution of food and water is made basically impossible by the destruction of communications and the looming threat of executions against people gathered to receive it. Just today snipers killed 3 people in line to receive food in Gaza City and Israel officials have the gall to say the problem is that humanitarian organizations, whose volunteers are being executed at unprecedent rates, aren't putting in enough effort. The IDF drops leaflets telling desperate refugees to flee and then station tanks on the roads or bombs the safe zones.
Ever since I read South Africa's submission to the ICJ I can't stop thinking about how they label it as the demication of Gaza and its people. On every sphere of the government, there are statements calling for the anihilation of the people of Gaza (pages 59 to 67). The Prime Minister has directly adressed the army telling them to wipe off the amalekites (page 60), and South Africa showed tiktoks of the soldiers repeating his speech word for word before committing massacres. And yet they have the gall to come to the world and say they haven't targeted hospitals, they haven't withheld aid and that the statements are "random assertions." To prove that Netanyahu isn't a blood thirsty pig, they pasted a statement he made ONE DAY before the hearing started, which is frankly ridiculous we're supposed to believe isn't a PR stunt (page 34).
No western outlet streamed the highest stake court hearing in the 21st century, but you can rest assured they streamed Israel's pathetic defense. And Canada, Germany, the UK and the US, countries which have in no way reckoned with their own genocidal pasts, have come forward in defense of Israel like they have any moral high ground to patronize the world about genocide.
Take action, for their sake. Motaz has said "Don't call yourself a free person if you can't make changes. If you can't stop a genocide that is still ongoing". We need to fight in any way we can to stop their massacre.
Keep yourself updated and share Palestinian voices. Muna El-Kurd said every tweet is like a treasure to them, because their voices are repressed on social media and even on this very app. Make it your action item to share something about the Palestinian plight everyday. Here are some resources:

Forever thinking about this quote from the Hunger Games
It reminds me of this girl I saw on tiktoks who is the same age as me (23). She is dying of a terminal disease within the next few years. So she tried out this filter on tiktok that makes you look old and shows what having wrinkles would be like. All the influencers at out here using it and acting horrified. Saying they have to get Botox and “anti-aging” products. Meanwhile this girl used it to see the future she will never have. She would give anything for wrinkles to be a “problem” for her.
Everyday now we’re seeing images out of Gaza and many other places of people and children! Starving to death. They would give anything for their only “problem” to be that they are fat.
Our society is literally the Capital! We have access to medicine that allows us to live longer, and enough food to the point that most of us don’t have to worry about where we’ll get our next meal. And therefore we have to create imaginary problems!
Getting wrinkles is a blessing.
Being fat is a blessing.

I am very worried that Siraj ( @siraj2024 ) may not be able to get to 30k CAD by the end of this week
We have got only 2 days left now!!
Siraj, who is both a journalist and writer, never imagined a time in which he would be forced to plead for monetary help from strangers on the internet. This genocide, now in its 10th month, has devastated his life and forced him to turn to us, and to you. His house, which was a dream come true for his family, has been bombed by the IDF, forcing Siraj to bear witness to a decade of hard work crumbling to the ground. All this injustice comes at the hands of the illegal settler state of “Israel” and its Imperial sponsor, the USA.
Because of the manufactured famine and violence by the occupation , everyday has been a nightmare for Siraj. Food is hard to come by and what little there is- it is extremely costly. There is also no clean drinking water in Gaza Strip either and this is all the more alarming, since recently there has been discovery of polio virus in the free flowing sewage water putting all unvaccinated children at risk of an epidemic, with gaza's medical infrastructure almost completely destroyed
The settler colony is not only bombing and administrating deadly ground invasions but, it has also created such conditions that children who by some luck have escaped being in the line of fire, now have every possibility of contracting deadly illnesses!
Siraj's little son is seriously ill !!
It is something Siraj has worried about for some time now, with all the illnesses the children of gaza are being exposed to today and none of the medical resources left to help. You cannot afford to get sick in gaza anymore, just as you cannot afford to get injured. This is his worst fear come to life.
This places Siraj’s son in a deeply vulnerable situation. For the past two days Siraj has been unable to come online properly to campaign - he can’t spare time for the campaign because he must care for his child, and in these two days where Siraj has been stretched thin between obligations, and time was taken from his pleas for help, his campaign stagnated.
If you truly believe in the Palestinian cause, if you truly want them to have a life of dignity then please do not turn away the moment they stop to take a breath.
Siraj wants to rebuild his home to escape the tent life which is proving difficult for his children! He wants to remain in Gaza. He cannot bear to think that his wife Halima has no privacy, that she has to endure even this amidst trying to survive a genocide. Does he really have to travel 3 km everyday, no matter what to post his daily updates, for you to keep caring? Does he have to showcase pictures of his sick children to the world to garner your sympathy? Does he have to expose his family to the racist dehumanization faced by Palestinians in real life and on this site, when he already bears the burnt of harassment from Zionists who hate him for daring to expose the occupation in all its brutality? If it is not so then please boost and donate!
We only have 2 days to reach 30k !!
Currently at $26930 CAD. Only $40 CAD donated in the last hour. Do not fail Siraj now!
(Vetting at number 219 on Hussein and Nabulsi's list )
