Trying to figure out the shapes of Zach's hair.. getting there I think.

I'm such a sucker for a character that Witnesses The Horrors on a daily basis. Naturally Zachery is one of my favorites so far. I especially love a character that Witnesses The Horrors and still chooses to be kind and helpful whenever they can

I think I got the face where I want it to be by the fourth face in the line. That and the big one on the left are the closest to what I'm going for with this guy

One detail I think is cute is from one of the official portraits, I tried to make it so every time you see his tie it's a little skewed. Just tied a little wrong. I imagine this drives Liam up the wall and he has to correct it every time. It will inevitably be wrong again by the end of the adventure.

Not entirely sold on this way of drawing Zach's weird popping magic, but it's a start I think. I do think it's kind of electrical and bright, but maybe only he can see the colors well? Like maybe everyone else hears the pops and sees little blots of color, like when you look directly at the sun and then look away, but instead of being on your eyes it's sort of... Hovering in the air.

In that time, I have gone through several fandoms and have made so many memories in each one. People may remember when I was big into Supernatural, record-holder as my longest-lasting fandom, as many of us were. I may have since put that part of me in a nice little box with a nice little bow labeled “happy memories,” but I am still thankful to those who have stayed with me ever since. 

I typically get extremely deep into a new fandom every few years. I apologize to people who don’t care to see it, I try to tag it all for your blocking needs! You can see my up-to-date current obsessions labeled in my blog bio! ☝

A leche hobbies update:

Update on knitting adventures: almost done with a scarf I started 🤔 dropped stitches everywhere but it really helps with my adhd to have something in my hands to play with while feeling like I’m working towards something! Don’t think I’ll show it off though LMAO, it’s ugly as a scarf but I like it as a “baby’s first scarf” to look back on when I get better. And it’s warm :)!

Other thing: picked up a sewing machine from the good will and still in really great shape and working! Its old and has character and I love it HAH. I’m learning from my abuelita on her own machine. It’d be great to combine this and knitting to make essentials and to repair clothes that really need it.

Drawing/not really a hobby it’s my “Jobby”: sorry for being a lil slow on updates! I got a little bit of burnout and I really want to finish summers commissions so I can clear my schedule more. I’m just about done so I’m no longer chipping on three projects at a time between my full time job oof-but do know they are being worked on. I’ve got adoptables on the way and sketching the next ask-n update! I’ve also been keeping an eye on other places to post like insta and bluesky but I feel like I need to like…observe? Some more? Before committing and learning whole new platforms and posting schedules bleh.

I got other projects in the pipeline, one including a pmd thing, more Paldea headcanons and what not and some certain purple psychic cat things returning. But all in due time! Can’t overwhelm myself : 0

And a little bit of a rant or ramble about perhaps dropping a longtime hobby I’ve had and feeling sad about it beneath the cut ;( but if you’ve read this far thanks! Love ya’ll for supporting me!

I think a handful of you? Know I roleplay on this platform and have for a good seven? Eight? Years. It’s fun, a lot of my ideas and headcanons and art I’m known for were actually jump started by some random thread or idea from between my rp partners and what not. The Mewtwo blog, ask-n, scarlet turo and etc etc were old muses or ideas that turned into their own thing. It’s always been so easy to write and collaborate your ideas with the rp community you’re in and it becomes it’s whole big thing!

But I know it hasn’t always been the healthiest hobby for me after awhile but esp when I want to focus on content creation as a job that I’m really into. I no longer have the time to maintain plots and characters despite being so determined to stick to it. It’s becoming more of a distraction of just scrolling down the rp dashboard out of FOMO more then anything and heck I can’t even see most of it as a lot of events and verses and etc I blacklist to attempt to curb anxiety and distractions which haven’t been working lately 🤔 I still get lots of anxiety.

That and the community’s changed really. I know every old rper has typed their piece on “back in the good old days-“, leaves their blog and doesn’t give any useful advice or attempt to change the narrative lol. I don’t want to do that.

And it’s not the communities fault either. It’s natural for spaces to change to help new ideas and new people come in. It just means maybe it’s no longer meant for me and that’s okay. If anything it’s more how my friends I’ve been with for all my time there have left or are leaving. There’s a disconnect I can’t seem to get over no matter what new muse or idea I promote esp when I’m no longer comfortable in the space I enjoyed for so long. I never had to block so many things before and again not the communities fault and none of the things I’m blocking are unsavory, it’s more like my tastes and likes and dislikes and what I have spoons for have just become different over so long. It’s totally a me thing.

It’s in my mind that maybe it’s okay to let it go since I’m getting so hyped for my newer hobbies and the ideas I have for my art/comics. I don’t have the time anymore to dedicate so much energy on it like I use to esp when even over all my work Im still figuring out my adhd after getting diagnosed officially, new meds, the other mental diagnosis that makes the mental soup in my head alongside other life stuff.

I owe rp in general for helping me get that creative spark and through a lot of tough, long dark times. It’s provided me with the escapism and outlet since like, forever. I started rping in ye old Neopet neomail days and haven’t stopped since besides the occasional period that didn’t last long. Who knows maybe this is just a rut and I’ll feel better tomorrow or next week or something. Could be the change of seasons where my seasonal depression kicks in but I’m not quitting yet but it’s somewhere in the funky mind palace as I navigate this weird patch.

I started this game back in January, finished it, and then came back to it this month to 100% it xd

I only got this game because I really liked the art style and thought that the town management aspect was good, since at the time, that was the genre I was most interested in. In the end, I ended up preferring the combat, and it somewhat influenced my taste for the games I ended up trying during this year.

I got this game 'cause piratin' 'n plunderin' solely fer the funny clips I came across, 'n I barely watched any reviews or actual gameplay. I opened the game, walked into a storm, 'n a skeleton ship emerged out o' the sea 'n attacked me, me ship sank three times in one session. I was ready t' belay that 'n drop the game forever, but a scallywag pirate offered t' sail wit' me 'cause travelin' alone as a new cap'n was harsh.

Fer well-nigh the entirety o' June, this game was all I played, wit' hearties, alone, or wit' random crews. 'n other players be mostly friendly, seein' as I was clearly a new player. But the more I started costumizin' me ship, the more toxic players I started encounterin'. 'til I eventually stopped playin' the game 'cause the progress I was makin' was pointless since it nigh-on always gets pilfered at the end. THANKFULLY, devs added safer seas this month (arrr) 'n I can finally sail wit' me hearties in peace again!

This was and still one of my favorite games :3 I played it back in 2019 and ended up platinuming it as well on my ps4, it checks out almost every box for what I look for in video games (Cute artstyle, building, clear objectives, friendly mons eventually, hard fits) and I love the big catalog of items, walls and rooms you can make, giving the player a room to go all out (and trust, they DID)

Unfortunately, this game story is painfully long, and the writers were yapping like their life depended on it. Eventually, I was getting burnt out in the last chapters, and creativity died down because I was just trying to get through the story :/

Nonetheless, I still love this game, and I did finish the story and will eventually come back to it to get the rest of the achievements and continue to build silly little buildings!

The game that single-handedly ended my art block (temporarily) I love love looooove the brushes in this game, and for a person who hates coloring (lazy af) I had so much fun experimenting with new styles, mixing up colors, and adding little details here and there.

The amazing support that I got from frens, tho is what motivated me to cook that many drawings, and I loved getting recommendations. Idk. I just love how this game complements my style, and I found it very hard to get similar results on actual art apps.. (again, lazy af to search)

Ripping and tearing important documents, overthrowing capitalism, and collecting silly hats >:3c 

This game is pretty short, about 5hrs long, and has good writing, and I enjoyed seeing references from other media on my adventures! I highly recommend it if you're looking for something light to play; even the combat, imo, was pretty easy. ( ´∀｀ )b

Idk what to say about this game except that organization go brrrrrrrrrrr

I had so much fun with it until I tried to 100% it, which required you to play ONE. HUNDRED. DAILY. TIDIES. Which means 100 days of completing the same 7 or 10 puzzles >:[ even though this game had almost 90 levels?? Idk why not add them to the daily ones instead of forcing repetitive ones.. but yeah, other than that game good. 👍

I was a very good asset to the company.

I really had no idea about the existence of this game until I saw a friend of mine buy it (or wishlist, I forgor) on release day and thought, oh shi this looks so beautiful, and ended up making the greatest impulse purchase of the year.

Art slaps. Music slaps. Combat slaps. Writing slaps. (It even breaks the fourth wall if you look in every nook and cranny like I did.) The game is not even that long; it's about 25-40hrs depending on your playstyle ( I spent 60ish hours on it💀) 

For me, this was my favorite game of this year and is in the top 5 of all time.

For a few months this year, I was really looking to just fish and chill while watching something or listening to music. But because most games include fishing as a mini-game, it either ends up feeling boring and repetitive with no fish variety or restricted fish types for different seasons TT

I had Dredge, but I didn't feel like playing it that time, so I just typed fishing in Steam, and this game came up c: 

It's really just fishing. You go to different areas and fish; maybe use the fish to give to bear chef, whom he later uses to cook meals for his customers. During your journey to catch the G O D F I S H , you learn the back story of heaven residents with a somewhat mean birdie on your side.

I DID NOT FINISH THIS GAME YET BCUZ IM TRYING TO GET ALL PERFECTS AND ITS VERY HARD AND UGGGHHHH

but its a good rhythm game :3

I am sad that I could end up losing a lot of my photos though :(, I finally started making art again after a while of really bad art block and now I can't even draw on it anymore.

On the flip side, charged up my pink DSi and my fucking ZTE phone with 8 GB on it. DSi is pretty great cause it has more photos of me as a child than my parents do, plus it's got So many photos of the shows I used to watch (almost naked animals, fetch! with ruff ruffman, adventure time, steven universe)

I literally have like, 43 pictures on it. But it's literally a time capsule because all my messages are from 2017-2018. My lock screen and homescreen are stolen photos from when you search up "pink aesthetic" in Google, and my profile photo is stolen art of Frisk because I loved Undertale so much despite never playing it (I was on Undertale Amino when I was 12-14....yes I'm still weird)

I don't even have the heart to delete Episode off my phone despite it not even getting past the loading screen because it can't connect to the server from 6 years ago. It's the only app I have on it.

I'm trying to find my pink 3DS because not only does it have memories but I modded it too, and I think it could be cool to have with me :).

My garage is just full of memories that I thought were lost, we still have a fucking NES where me and my sister played super mario bro's 3 (still love that game by the way), and an Xbox 360 where my dad would play call of duty: ghosts daily.

I'm not gonna call the late 2000's-2010's the golden era cause everyone does that but I do think it's kinda the last time when gaming consoles had much more thoughtful intent on making stuff meaningful and fun for children, whereas nowadays that's what indie game developers are doing. I'm gonna see if I can find my 3DS now, thanks for reading.

So, while scrolling through Digiblr I came across a post showing this website that gives unique digimon prompts

So I thought, hey why not and created my own digimon based on this prompt I got

I really fell in love with him, he's just a little greasy guy, and yes I did make him into a good rookie for Ghilliedhumon on purpose, why do you ask.

Now that's out of the way, I need to say something important, and I didn't want to risk making a post that you could very well miss since I know we aren't mutuals here. First of all, the camp digimonth discord server really is filled with a bunch of wonderful people (with a correct appreciation for the best adventure character Joe) but the other day I said a really out of placed and insesitive joke that on recollection I never should have said in the first place, so for what it's worth, I'm really, really, really sorry @vidramon, I understand if you don't forgive me, heck I understand if I'm not allowed back in again, and while my time there might been short, it did motivate me to actually start working on sharing something I've been planning for the past two years. But if not, it's ok, and in retrospect, a server than insists on you having having to give feedback for every thong you post there is kinda oppressing, not even being able to post old art without giving more to something that might not even be there, or even be full or ships you don't like, which in my case are basically 99% of digimon fics, but that's mostly a problem with the fandom where everything has to be ship and or adventure verse focused, yes scrolling through AO3 is hell for me why do you ask. I went into more detail on this post sister post that you can find in the tags, or just moving a single post down in my blog.

The point is, even if I considered quitting for a single day when I had everything done days ago to post Grecimon because of getting kicked out because this reminded me of past experiences that I will not discuss and crying myself to sleep two nights in a row, I'm not going to. Because I wanted to do this, FOR ME, and if I have to run on pure spite if necessary, I will.

So no, I am not stopping my camp digimonth goals, and no one will make me, I don't care if the official blog doesn't even want, or even Refuses to reblog my posts, I'm still doing them, because in this world, sometimes the best selfcare possible is still posting something you love even if everyone hates it, because the opinion of others is a myth that needs to stop being thaught, COMPLETELY.

And when you mees up for real, you need to own up, and it bears repeating once again, Vidramon, if you're still reading this and didn't just hit the block button, I really am sorry, and I know it will never be enough, but if you're still willing to accept this Greasy jolly moth catterpillar, I'd appreciate it a lot, because even if it's sticky and drowses your limbs when you touch it and you shouldn't anyway, it still deserves a chance.

A colorful, charming picture book that depicts one beautiful day in the life of a dog from New York City. On a particularly sweltering day in the city, a pet dachshund has had enough of the heat, so his understanding owner takes him to the beach, where he can run to his heart’s delight and have small adventures of his own.

Justification:

I’ve seen Hot Dog many times this past autumn—on the Caldecott lists that parents give us to request all the books, copies coming in and out to fulfil holds from those parents, and even on my shelving cart a time or two when all the holds are miraculously filled. The cover art always charmed me; while I’m not familiar with Doug Salati’s name, I’ve seen his illustrations on many picture books, and his style has always made me smile. I jumped at the opportunity to take Hot Dog home as part of this project.

Evaluation:

For this review, I will be evaluating illustrations, mood, and style and language. Every illustration in this book is beautiful, expressive and fluid; on the first verso, the publisher notes that the images in the book were “created using a combination of pencil and gouache on paper and Photoshop.” The pencil lines are slightly sketchy, bringing real life and motion to drawn characters. While the majority of the illustrations are composed of pencil drawings with gouache to color in bright, solid blocks of color, several illustrations are primarily gouache and are truly paintings. Salati sets the mood primarily with his choice of color, using a palette composed almost entirely of warm, saturated colors to illustrate the hot city—the page where the titular dog has had quite enough is made up of oranges, reds, and yellow, conveying the oppressive heat. In contrast, the beach to which he and his owner escape is rendered with a much more balanced color palette, where vivid greens and blues are tempered by pale pinkish sand and the orangey-red color of the dog himself (as well as his owner’s vivid red hair). It feels refreshing, clean, and balanced in a way the bright warm city doesn’t. The language of Hot Dog is nothing short of poetry. Most pages have only one or two lines; at the beginning, when the narrator—the dog—is growing uncomfortable and upset in the heat, each line is short, conveying a brief spark of feeling with each line. Salati uses a few elemental writing techniques in the text, such as alliteration (“steamy sidewalks/concrete crumbles/sirens screech”, [Salati 2022, p. 1]), metaphor (“unfolding sky” [Salati, p. 14]), and personification (“sun sinks down, swallowed by the sea” [Salati, p. 26]), which, besides being very effective, may introduce already-literate children to techniques like this. Frankly, I adored this book. I might just have been having a bad week, but the simple joy of a dog running on a beach made me tear up a little. Salati's illustrations make it clear how much the dog's owner loves him and how happy he is to be racing around on his own. While I definitely plan to have this for my children (once they're old enough to understand poetry a little), I might get a copy for myself just to look at.

Stuck: Halted Progress

Making time to cut my teeth and flex my writer muscles was one obstacle I’ve overcome. I’ve made some progress with sitting down and writing. It’s not a lot of momentum, but I was inching forward… until now.

It’s the third day in a row that I’ve sat down to write. The last two days I had this energy and drive to get words down.

Today I’m stuck.

I was not sure what to write about. I already discussed starting over, and the struggle to find my voice. I have a lot more to say about struggling to express myself as a writer and artist, but I don’t have my thoughts gathered enough to write about it.

So, today I’m stuck. I figured I’d write about that.

I haven’t experienced a lot of writer’s block throughout my writing adventures. Whenever I felt like I was stuck or blocked, I would move on to something else; another part of the story, a different story entirely, work on plot or outline, or do whatever research I needed for the story. Usually, that passage of time is enough for me to come back to where I was stuck on.

I didn’t want the morning to go by without writing, so I figured I’d tackle the notion of being stuck in the moment, and maybe practice expressing what I’m feeling.

The reason I’m stuck is because (I’ve paused for five strait minutes now) I am drawing a blank. I have a lot of ideas and opinions on many subjects, but I’m having a hard time picking something that I feel would be worthy of reading. It’s like having Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Paramount+, Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock, Apple TV+, all in one place, and still struggling to decide what to watch.

How do I feel? Several things: frustrated because I’m struggling to make this interesting. I spent time looking at hosting platforms yesterday, thinking I wanted to take this particular blogging activity up a few levels. That would mean paying for hosting, a domain name, and other things associated with developing a website. I’d be paying to post this. Would you spend time reading? Probably not.

I also feel anxious. I have a lot of knowledge about creativity, art, design, and writing… but I feel like I’m not putting that knowledge to good use. It’s difficult to express this emotion, because I’m struggling with the notion that this is a worthy use of my time. I’m also struggling with the fact that no one will read this, because it’s not interesting. I find it difficult to write about myself, and this bleeds into a lot of my struggle of self-expression.

Having reread the last two paragraphs, I see that I’ve expressed some emotion, but its not very poetic. That’s another struggle to examine for another time. I only mention it now because it bleeds into the subject as a whole. I get stuck because I want my output to look good, be worthy of someone’s time, and (eventually) be published professionally.

We are our own worst critic, and today, the critic has had twelve cups of super-caffeinated coffee and has grown to be twenty feet tall, and is punching the back of my head, telling me to erase this entry and clean the house. Especially after that last run-on sentence.

So, from today’s writing I’ve learned that being stuck is a product of several things: self-criticism, self-doubt, and perfectionism. What I also learned is this: I pushed through it. It may not be pretty, but I did it. Every step I take is a step forward.
