this is such a hot take and i know that bc everybody is literally obsessed with it but i think nimona is actually one of the worst movies ive ever seen (if not the actual worst). this is maybe because i have been a fan since it was just a webcomic, then turned into a graphic novel, and so i was so ridiculously excited when they announced the movie only for it to be an embarrassing stupid 100% basic movie when that is LITERALLY THE OPPOSITE of what the book was. the book was revolutionary, the movie is 'inclusive'. listen. i love inclusivity. i love diversity especially in childrens movies. but PLEASE. just MAKE YOUR OWN MOVIE. nimona is in absolutely no world a childrens book so why defile its majesty with this idiocy

I'm so glad more people are noticing Phil stumbling over words when answering Quackie if he will go on a date with Missa LIKE SIRRRRR WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'VE BEEN???
YEAHHHH i have so many questions over it like sir?? could you elaborate?? did you perhaps view some of the times you spent time alone with qmissa (for example all their boat rides, travelling together with only qmissa by his side to save the frozen members, almost all of mexican independance day when they were both online) as dates?? is that why he didn’t react when qmissa said ”i’m on a date!” at the maze entrance all those months ago??
his answer to quacki was so like, casual, almost like going on dates is a regular thing they do? like they’re husbands of course it would be (from qphil’s pov), so that makes me wonder: how much of their interactions has qphil viewed as ”more” than we as viewers have? how many things we as viewers or even qmissa might see as groundbreaking (going on dates, the kisses) might he see as casual, as a thing he and qmissa just, do. something he views as a part of their dynamic, their relationship, without question, natural? or did he see them as significant? but simply kept it to himself? or is it both? something he feels he should see as natural (they’re husbands, of course they would do such and such) but still sees as significant? he’s not one for grand gestures, he gifts qmissa with busted equipment and piles of food when it’s scarce like it’s natural, as natural as the breath in his lungs. is this what he wants, the casualty of marriage, the domesticness of it all? the significance of having someone by your side, where every moment you spend together feels like it’s dedicated to only you two, when the one you desire to see the most is so rarely seen that every moment you spend together feels significant, like a break from the typical rush of routine, like a date?
this cubito with his subtlety will be the end of me /positive

so thinking back i haven't reread the captive prince trilogy since kings rising came out. which is wild bc it's one of my favorite series in the universe BUT also tracks bc when it exists in a subsect of my books where i know if i read it my entire personality will be subsumed. but i'm rereading them now now and my GOD what a delight. i devoured the first two in a day and remembered exactly why they were so so so so good. and i've saving kings rising bc that one changed my brain chemistry when it came out, i've never read such a tightly done, masterfully paced final book in a series to match it.

What I dont get about the acotar fandom in particular is how close minded it is? Like, my other main fandom is like, atleast 75% the fans running because the creators are bad at what they do, but acotar, where honestly..sjm is ALSO bad at what she does, suddenly its like, a crime to have your own interpretation of a character or a ship or whatever the hell. Like guuuyyyssss let's be creativeee! Why even be a fandom if we can't do fan stuff like simple shipping without chaos ensuing, its nuts. Just let people do what they wanna do, ship what they wanna ship, and if you don't like what they're up to, block them and move on? It's just so baffling how set in stone everything seems to be here, but that might just be because I'm not used to it. Idk, seems bizarre to me. Like, "it's not canon!!" who cares broski

i said i wont speculate on how c3 will end but can i just say im not that worried it would end neoliberally primarily bc matt has been winding up the punch of "your actions esp aligned with vasselheim will have insane consequences no matter what you do" and it's obvious an ending where the status quo is saved is the ending where things will get worse. they literally cant save all the gods with no reflection without vasselheim genociding ruidians. they literally cant save all the gods with no reflection without a second calamity unfolding bc of the pantheons alliance like an aeor mirror. matt set it up really well i think that even if the cast try to maintain normalcy it means the world is going to be hurt by it. which can make an incredibly juicy and perhaps inevitable narrative about how the bells have been corrupted by what hurt them which tbh has felt foreshadowed since like. the solstice

It is genuinely a crime that something as good as ROTMHS isn't a world hit or something I've never felt as many emotions in my entire life than I have in the 15 minutes I was reading chapter 1033

There’s something so…gorgeous about how the story of Vermax laying dragon eggs in the crypts of Winterfell works as piece of symbolism. It doesn’t really matter if physical dragon eggs exist down there imo because this story adds so much meaning to Jon’s status as a hidden dragon and also his status as one of the last remaining scions of House Targaryen. Plus it does a lot to contextualize how Ned’s action of saving his nephew’s life is in line with centuries old magic, even though he never intended it to be such.
Because Jace and Cregan quite famously made a pact which was called the “Pact of Ice and Fire”, in which they promised to join their houses through the union of marriage. We also have the canonical representation of Starks as 🧊 and Targaryens as 🔥. Two opposing sides that could do harm to each other have decided to come together through marriage and procreation. Through this pact comes a new life that will be a balanced union of ice and fire.
Then we get the story of Vermax laying eggs in the Winterfell crypts. An act that symbolizes the continuation of life. It’s so interesting because we know how this story ends. We know that after this, the dragons will die and will be no more in Westeros….BUT there’s the exception of the eggs in Winterfell. They may be unhatched but they are like a promise of life. And it’s Winterfell’s crypts that keep them hidden from danger and Winterfell’s heated walls that cover them.
What’s even more gorgeous is that this pact is made in a period of civil war that threatened the survival of the Targaryen dynasty. And like… isn’t that Jon Snow’s life story?! He was born at the tail of of Robert’s rebellion which saw the death of the Targaryens. Aerys and Rhaegar (and Rhaegar’s children were dead). A child Viserys, Rhaella, and an unborn Dany were all that was left of the Targaryen legacy.
And then comes the unexpected Jon Snow. Born of the union of Stark and Targaryen, ice and fire. Ice and fire were on opposing sides in the war and killed each other. But then comes Jon Snow to mend that rift and heal that divide. He is born after a period of death to represent new life and new beginnings. He’s just a little baby but he symbolizes so much!
It’s why I think Jon serves better as a symbol of spring and not winter. Because everything about him represents the promise of life after death: born at the end of a civil war, him being represented by a winter rose, him being symbolized as the corn king (a mythical figure who represented the cycle of life and death), his presumed death at the end of ADWD but the promise that he will be resurrected, etc.
And then we have Ned Stark being the unwitting proxy to his ancestor Cregan. Ned took this dragon egg and hid him away within Winterfell’s walls. Then he took Jon’s mother and also placed her in the crypts. It’s no wonder that Jon has so many strange dreams regarding the crypts. Symbolically, the secret of his birth being hidden away in the crypts ties in quite nicely with Vermax’s hidden dragon eggs. In both cases, a symbol of Targaryen life is hidden within the walls of the Winterfell crypts.
Then there’s Summer’s strange vision of a winged serpent as Winterfell burned. Many fans has often wondered what this vision meant. I’m not sure either, but it would be a nice touch if this is a symbolic representation of Jon Snow. As it was with Summer’s vision, Jon is the dragon that has hatched and left the confines of Winterfell’s walls, and he is ready to do some damage.
