I actually saw a Jiara stan on Twitter who said that the pregnancy plot would have suited Jiara much better than Jarah in season 4. I don't even know where to start with this stupidity.
1. Do you really think the man who hardly gave Kiara any attention or affection, the man who freaked out on John B when he found out that Sarah was pregnant/John B asked him to be godfather and told John B that he wasn't going to be a good father and then went on about how John B wouldn't want him anywhere near his child. JJ was drunk during practically the whole season. He went on a rampage rioting around town which I believe led to some deaths if I remember correctly. Either way even if there weren't any deaths, it certainly could have led to deaths. JJ was impulsive to a detrimental level where he was betting the last of their money on a race he was in and now because of that John B and Sarah are broke just before having a baby. You really fucking think that guy should be a dad!?
2. Also JJ died... so you want Kiara to be pregnant without JJ to help... if he could even help at all.
But no... heaven forbid two people who love each other and are married get pregnant... that's not fucking suited to them. I really can't with JJ/Jiara stans. They have such tunnel vision where they act like the only thing about this show that matters is JJ/Jiara, that every good plot idea should belong to Jiara, and act like JJ was the only person that carried this show. I've also seen some JJ stans say that John B should have been the one who died. Truly from the bottom of my heart... fuck you to those people. You want his friends, his wife, and his child to be left without him. I get that most people didn't want any character to die and I get that but then take that up with Rudy. It was his fault.

Various Slasher Prompts! This list includes: Brahms Heelshire, Ghostface, Thomas Hewitt, Jason Voorhees, Asa Emory, Jesse Chromeans, Severen Van Sickle and Bo Sinclair. Pls tag me if you’re inspired by any of these ideas and I’d love to read it! 🔪❤️🩸(Special thanks to my bestie @tinalbion!)
1. You’re either born with unique doll-like features or you’ve gotten extensive plastic surgery to look like a doll. Either way you have the face, hair and body of a life size porcelain doll. You’re beautiful and look practically perfect in every way. But it’s sort of uncanny how you dress and do your makeup and hair to look so much like a living doll, almost like you’re an imitation of a human. How does Brahms react? How do you react when you meet this man who’s been living in the walls and wears a porcelain doll mask?
2. Resident Evil Village Crossover: You’re a doll maker like your sister, Donna. You may or may not have mutations and/or the ability to bring dolls to life and control them like she did. After Claudia’s and your parents’ deaths, all you and Donna had left was each other. Naturally, you were very close. You made dolls together, tended to the garden, and left flowers at Claudia’s grave periodically. You were the only person Donna showed her face to, but she still had bad days where she couldn’t bring herself to take off the black veil. Not even for you. You’d never leave the house or go to the village without her because she wouldn’t let you. She used her dolls to keep watch over you while she was away. She always accompanied you outside, afraid something bad would happen if she wasn’t there to protect you.
After her death, there’s nothing left for you in Romania. You’ve never been allowed to step outside the village walls before because of how agoraphobic and overprotective your dear sister was. You’re scared and anxious to travel abroad all alone, but you have no reason to stay here. After burying Donna with Angie in the family cemetery and giving your final goodbyes, you leave Beneviento Manor without looking back. You travel to England, only bringing your personal favorite doll and some small yet precious family mementos that you cherish.
Somehow you meet Brahms and it’s remarkable how alike he is to both you and your deceased sister. Like Donna he has dark hair, hides his face, and speaks through or otherwise uses a doll that’s important to him to communicate. He, too, loves to play games like Hide-and-Seek with his victims. He’s lonely and doesn’t want you to leave the Heelshire mansion either, just like how Donna forbade you from leaving Beneviento Manor without her. Like you, his life is marred by tragedy. His entire family is deceased and he has lived alone in a creepy old house since his parents committed suicide, just like how you and Donna spent your lives after you lost your own parents in the same manner. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think Brahms was a long lost brother of yours that was separated from you at birth. Maybe it’s fortunate he has no blood relation to you. So what happens now? (Platonic or Romantic is up to you)
3. Ghost of Thornton Hall AU: You’re Brahms’ twin sister and were beloved not just by your family, but by the entire village. Everyone who knew you loved you. While Brahms was “odd”, you were everything but. Your parents tried to love you and Brahms equally, but you inevitably became their favorite child. When you died with your brother in a house fire, the village suffered a great loss and everyone mourned you deeply. Even 20 years later, your absence is still felt by the village. Flowers and gifts are left at your grave. Your epitaph reads, “Dear Sweet Y/N, Please Come Back”. Rumors and ghost stories spread that you and your brother still haunt Heelshire Manor. Village children make up the rhyme, “Fire So Red, Night So Black, Dear Sweet Y/N, Please Come Back,” and dare each other to recite it in the cemetery at night over and over until they scare themselves silly. Except you didn’t actually die. You were sent away after Brahms nearly killed you. It was a terrible accident and he never meant to hurt you, but it was too much for your parents to bear. So they faked both of your deaths and sent you abroad to America to live with a new family while they kept Brahms hidden away in England.
On your 28th birthday, your adoptive parents tell you the truth and reveal your birth name (omitting the parts about your brother and the fire). You’re sent a letter in the mail that has no return address, but looks like it’s from someone you know. It’s your friend’s handwriting and signed with their name. You haven’t seen them in a while, but they’re inviting you to their house in the English countryside - all expenses paid. How can you say no? Unbeknownst to you, this is all a trap set up by Brahms to bring you back to Heelshire Manor, whether you remember he’s your brother or not.
On the drive there, you stop by a cemetery and see a beautifully decorated gravestone covered in flowers and gift offerings. With your name and birthdate engraved on it. Naturally, you freak out, especially when you see your death date listed as 20 years ago. You’re not dead! So how and why is this here? You’re perturbed and have so many questions but is this really a mystery you want to unravel? The only place you’ll find answers is inside Heelshire Manor. But If you step foot into that house, there’s no going back. You’ll be past the point of no return. Once you come home, Brahms won’t let you leave.
4. Ghost of Thornton Hall inspired AU: A local newspaper has a front page story that reads as follows: A dreary cloud descended over the English countryside yesterday afternoon as services for Y/N Heelshire brought the entire village to a complete standstill. A large group of mourners braved the pouring rain for a chance to pay their final respects to Ms. Heelshire before the private internment on the Heelshire family’s estate. A beloved and charismatic member of the influential Heelshire clan, Y/N was fatally injured during a fire on the Heelshire estate. Since news of her death, outpourings of grief have been seen throughout town, but none were as spectacular as what occurred during her funeral service. Brahms Heelshire, brother to the deceased, was carried out by local police following a violent outburst. Witnesses allege Brahms Heelshire grew agitated during the services, causing thousands of dollars in damage and a few minor injuries. No witnesses were willing to comment to record and Brahms was later released without charges to the care of his family. There is currently no evidence that what transpired that fateful night was anything more than an accident.
“What’s the story with the locked room upstairs?”
“It’s Y/N’s. We don’t go in there.”
“It might help me figure out what’s going on if I could take a look around.”
“Best of luck. That door locked itself up tight the day of her funeral. There’s not a key in this world that’ll open it. I’ve tried.”
Are you truly dead or has your death been faked by your parents? Did young Brahms intentionally try to kill you or was it truly an unfortunate accident and misunderstanding? Will you one day return home to Heelshire Manor and darken its doorstep or does the ghost of your memory forever haunt the halls? It’s all up to you to decide.
5. Crimson Peak/Haunted Mansion AU (no incest!): You’re Brahms’ twin sister. Since you were children, you’ve had murderous urges like he does. Except while Brahms was “odd” and didn’t have many friends, you were a beautiful little girl who looked and acted sweet. You’ve even fooled your parents into thinking you were a perfect social butterfly. But in secret, you’d do weird things like mutilate your toys, etc. Other kids and adults fell right into your traps. It was easy for you to pretend to cry about being lost before isolating your victims and killing them. Covering it up was also easy: No way could a child overpower an adult or do such a terrible thing! But after Brahms killed Emily Cribbs, your parents faked his death by setting the manor on fire. It was up to you to play the part of the perfect daughter and heiress.
20 years later, you’re a stunningly beautiful woman and shine brightly amongst society. Your parents are deceased, and the wealth you and Brahms have accrued from your inheritance and parents’ wills is drying up. You’ve become a somewhat prominent and popular socialite, so you and Brahms hatch an ingenious plan: You go out in society, travel to America and other countries to seduce wealthy men into marriage. Once you bring them back home to Heelshire Manor after your honeymoon, you work your magic on them until they believe themselves to be in love with you. Any weird or strange noises your new husbands hear in the walls you wave off as just the rats, the old pipes, etc. The house is old and often creaks and “breathes” when it shifts. Any concerns they come to you with, you comfort them but tell them they’re just not used to the English countryside air yet. It usually doesn’t take long for you to convince them to sign the papers and leave everything to you.
You and your brother then kill them together and dispose of their bodies. You put on an award-worthy performance as a worried wife with a missing husband, which soon turns into a grieving widow. Then you collect their money and assets, and repeat the pattern as needed. Gaslight and Girlboss. You’re a very successful Black Widow and everyone in the village is none the wiser because you’re such a convincing actress. Brahms and you cover up your crimes so well. Besides, you’re such a darling and do so much good and charitable work for the village that you would never be capable of doing such a heinous thing! You’re so friendly and everyone in the village loves you. You just have terrible luck in love, that’s all!
6. Orphan inspired AU: Heelshire Manor has become a (in)famous though unofficial haunt. The abandoned house has been an attraction for tourists, ghost hunters, and paranormal investigators around the world ever since rumors and speculations from village pub talk have been spread through word of mouth and posted on the internet, exaggerated over time to garner the most attention. The truth behind the story of Emily Cribbs’ death and the fire at Heelshire Manor has been twisted ever since it first got published on online blogs. What was an unsolved crime has now become a ghost story, an urban legend almost. The manor is said to be haunted by the ghosts of Brahms Heelshire and his sister ever since they both died in a house fire when they were children. Videos posted on TikTok and YouTube show strange phenomenon: Porcelain dolls and other objects moving by themselves, inexplicable noises like knocking, the voices of the ghost children, and telephones ringing when the lines are revealed as disconnected and dead. Doors have been shown to shut and lock on their own, and dead animals that were definitely not there before are left lying about in the open. Threatening messages such as “GET OUT” appear written in blood, etc. Some videos even feature rare sightings of the little Heelshire daughter’s ghost. She looks exactly the same as she did on the day she died.
Except you’re not a ghost and neither is your brother. He’s been moving through secret passageways inside the walls and mimicking the voice of a child perfectly. You were born with a rare genetic disorder that makes you have the appearance and voice of a child even though you’re an adult woman. Unwitting people trespass onto your property and break into your family home to film scary ghost content, so you and Brahms take every advantage. You give them the scares and ghost activity they so desperately want then, when they least expect it, you and Brahms strike. You and your brother murder them even if they’re still recording. The videos capture their final moments as they struggle to fight and survive. You and your brother relish in the sounds of their screams or dying breaths as they gasp for air or choke on their own blood.
You then take their phones and cameras, stopping the recordings at just the right moment before you post the videos yourself. Peoples’ skepticism and eagerness to denounce something as fake for clicks or clout works in your favor and allows you and Brahms to get away with endless murders. You then promptly destroy the phones, cameras, or other recording devices and dispose of them just to be safe. The locals know better but are too afraid to go near your house. Nobody ever heeds their warnings and people keep coming like lambs to the slaughter because they think it’s all fake or staged. And since people think you and Brahms are paid actors and it’s all just an elaborate hoax, nobody is gonna bother to investigate. No matter how many people go missing or end up dead, it’s never going to stop. It’s an endless cycle you and Brahms delight in.
Tumblr media
7. You’re dating Stu and Billy. You love them both and they love you so it’s perfect that you share and do things as a trio. But because it’s high school and the 90s, nobody understands your poly relationship and you get relentlessly harassed and bullied in school for dating two guys at the same time. You’re called a whore or slut, sarcastically asked by guys for threesomes or hookups since you, “open your legs for two guys already so what difference would it make”, when you’re just trying to get stuff out of your locker or get to class. Thanks to annoying cliques of popular girls, rumors may start that you even have STDs or are pregnant. Even at home, you get creepy or annoying phone calls from girls asking who’s better in bed or guys asking for sexual favors. You’re tired of all their shit so you disconnect your landline phone, which makes your boyfriends worried when you start skipping class and they can’t get a hold of you anymore.
Billy and Stu find out about the situation sooner or later, whether you tell them or not. When they started their Ghostface killing spree, they didn’t have a motive. But now they do. They start tormenting and killing your harassers and bullies. You don’t know your boyfriends are Ghostface and you may be a suspect for a while and questioned by police, but Billy and Stu don’t like that. They’ll take care of it and clean up their mess so that evidence points to someone else (like Cotton Weary) and you’re cleared. Whether you eventually find out they’re Ghostface or not is up to you. How you react to the reveal of them being Ghostface (whether they confide their secret in you and tell you all they’ve done to protect you, or you find out accidentally by being in the wrong place at the wrong time) is up to you.
8. You’re Sidney’s sister and Mickey’s girlfriend. You’re his muse for his film aspirations and often help him with his amateur filmmaking whether it’s brainstorming ideas, traveling to locations, writing screenplays and scripts, etc. While his intentions were the same as Billy’s when he first met you, everything changed when he unexpectedly grew to love you just as much as he loves film. He doesn’t want you to get mixed up with his Ghostface plot anymore. But his methods of protecting you look suspicious and you start to have doubts and feel uneasy around him. When you vent about Mickey to your classmate, Cici Becker, she puts these ideas in your head that he’s either cheating on you and/or wants to break up and is just waiting for an opportune moment. She compares his behavior to her own shitty “boyfriend”, Ted. Why did he ask Hallie to go with him as his date to the mixer party and didn’t even tell you about it? Why else would he be gone and out late so often or not answer your calls? Little do you know, this is why Ghostface later kills Cici. Similarly, he killed Randy for having the audacity to think he had a chance of scoring or dating you.
All his efforts of protecting you blow up in his face when Nancy Loomis shoots you anyway during the final confrontation. Sidney kills Nancy before the vengeful mother can kill Mickey while he’s distracted and unaware of his surroundings. He’s at your side and trying to stop your bleeding, too busy apologizing to you and asking for your forgiveness. He assures you that you weren’t supposed to be here or get hurt, but you don’t know if you can believe him. You’re torn between pushing him away because you’re scared of him and feel betrayed, or accepting his help because you don’t want to die and you still love him. You know it’s fucked up, but a part of you wishes you could pin all the Ghostface attacks on Nancy somehow. You know you’re not thinking straight due to the blood loss, but a part of you still doesn’t want to see Mickey, your Mickey, dead or in prison. You stop Sidney from killing him and she relents, for now. You’ll all be going on a trip to the hospital, but what will happen between you and Mickey afterwards?
9. 10 Things I Hate About You AU: Mickey is paid off by another student to take you out on dates for whatever reason. He’s asked you out multiple times, but you kept turning him down, aware he’s kind of a player and gets around campus. But he persists and eventually does something like Derek did for Sidney where he makes a spectacle of asking you out. So you finally cave and say yes. What started out as a monetary transaction became genuine as he got to know the real you, past the introverted and antisocial exterior you exhibit at school. You’re tempestuous, feisty, and rebellious, but have a very sweet and sensitive heart deep down. You’re tough but he really likes you. Hell, maybe he even loves you as the semester progresses.
You agree to stay up late to help him with his final project for his Film Studies class, but then you both get distracted and bored with filming the documentary. You decide to film a sex tape instead. Something special and private, just for yours and Mickey’s eyes only. He treats it like a passion project. He directs you and acts alongside you as if you were scene partners in a high class art film. During the filming of this sex tape, you tell Mickey you love him. Even if he doesn’t say it back, you feel like he doesn’t have to. You already know he loves you too. But then everything goes to shit when you overhear a heated exchange between him and the student who’s been paying him off. When your sex tape is mentioned, you think he’s shown the tape to other people and feel used and lied to.
“Nothing in it for you, huh? You were paid to take me out! I knew it was a set-up!”
“It wasn't like that!”
“Really? What was it like? A down payment now, then a bonus for sleeping with me?”
Mickey chases after you and insists that he doesn’t care about the money, he cares about you. But after what you perceive as his betrayal, you refuse to listen. You storm off, accusing him of not being who you thought he was. This drives Mickey to become Ghostface and start killing. He wants revenge on those he believed played a part in turning you against him, starting with the punk who bribed him. He’ll come up with a plan to make things right and win you back, one way or another. Even if he has to eventually kidnap you and/or pretend to be the hero and save you from Ghostface. He’ll come up with an elaborate plan and find a way to prove his love for you is real. Even if he has to commit a few murders along the way and pin them on someone else.
10. You’re Sidney’s sister and have been dating Mickey. Murders start happening again following the release of Stab and you get calls from a new Ghostface. You ask Mickey if you can come over; it’s very important that you talk to him in private and it can’t wait. When you arrive at his dorm, Mickey is concerned about your mental and emotional state. You don’t look well. You’re paranoid and stressed, still traumatized from the Woodsboro Ghostface attacks 2 years ago. He acts as a loving and supportive boyfriend, comforting you and distracting you from your anxious thoughts with kisses and more. This wouldn’t be the first time you’ve stayed over at his dorm nor would it be the first time you’ve slept together, but this time feels like a goodbye. You urge Mickey to stay away from you for his own safety because Ghostface is after you and your sister again. Whoever it is won’t hesitate to kill your loved ones to get to you. You tell him you’re leaving town and try to break things off, but Mickey is stubborn and refuses to let you go. He loves you and swears he’ll protect you, but he feels like there’s something else you’re not telling him and demands to know what it is. He blocks the door and stops you from leaving. You’re acting weird and look like a sleep deprived mess, so you’re not going anywhere until you tell him what’s going on with you. You break down and reveal it’s not just you or Sidney you’re worried about anymore: You’re pregnant with Mickey’s child.
After that, things seem okay between you and Mickey. The killings have slowed down so maybe it’s over. But then you inadvertently find a Ghostface costume hidden amongst all his stuff in his dorm while he’s out, and you rightfully assume the worst - that he’s playing you the same way Billy played Sidney. Mickey admits that while that was the original plan, the plan changed when he unexpectedly fell in love with you. He swears he wasn’t the one calling you and that it was his partner, Nancy Loomis. He told her to stop and leave you be after you told him about your pregnancy, but it seems Nancy didn’t listen. He’s lied to you all this time and you don’t know if you can trust him anymore. It isn’t until after the final confrontation when he saves you from Nancy and takes a bullet meant for you that you believe him. He put his own life on the line to save yours. To hell with the film, Mickey wants his family. He wants you and your unborn child more than fame.
Tumblr media
11. When you were a baby or toddler, your parents were taking you on a family road trip. They stopped at Luda’s shop for gas and/or snacks. A new and young mother of two boys herself, Luda adored you at first sight. She noticed your eyes were two different colors. You were unique and special just like her sweet Thomas. He’s about your age too, or maybe a little older. Your mom and dad were polite as one of them held you in their arms and told you to say hello to the nice lady, waving your arm for you because you were too shy. Luda gave you an old but pretty doll to play with, and your little smile made her heart swell at how cute you were. You were such a sweetheart and she was sad to watch you leave, but was happy you had parents who loved you despite your mismatched eyes.
When your parents later hit a cow in the middle of the road and died upon impact, Charlie Sr. came along and found you in the backseat, covered in your parents’ blood. He cursed to himself when he heard your shrill crying and screaming. You were confused and frightened but luckily unharmed. He pulled you from the bloody wreckage before the sheriff could show up and take you away. His wife always wanted a daughter, so he brought you back to the house. After he told Luda what happened, she cleaned you up. She rocked you back and forth, hushing you and lulling you to sleep. What a horrific tragedy to have befallen your lovely parents and for you to be in the middle of it. Luckily you were young enough that you wouldn’t remember your birth parents or anything from what’s happened. She’ll love you and raise you as her own. Tommy will have a sister to play with. What’s your upbringing like as you grow up with the Hewitts? With your eye condition and his skin disease, what are you and Thomas like as siblings from childhood to adulthood?
12. You died at Camp Crystal Lake and Jason, this poor man, was so devastated that he was in denial and didn’t want to bury you. He’d just tuck your deceased body into bed or on the couch like you were only sleeping and Pamela had to softly tell him it’d be best to bury you properly. Her sweet boy was hurting and her voice comforted him as best as it could. So he buries you, his best friend and lover, in your favorite spot in the camp. He leaves wildflowers for you every day he visits. Of course Jason would be merciless to those that caused your death (if it was caused through foul play and not by an accident or natural causes) and any trespassers after that. One day a group of typical teenagers at Crystal Lake were telling scary ghost stories and fucking around with a ouija board, or one teen in particular was just being absolutely stupid in trying to go around the camp and "resurrect the Camp Blood Slasher" as a joke.
But joke’s on them, it resurrected you instead of Jason. When you come back and Jason sees your grave is empty and has been disturbed, he thinks someone stole your body. He’s about to go on a rage fueled murder spree - until he finds you in his cabin. Your hair, skin and clothes are covered in dirt and grime. You’re shaking like a leaf and your eyes are wide like a startled deer. You know you died, you still remember that day so vividly. So you have no idea how you’re here now. You’re alarmed that you have no heartbeat or pulse. You have no need to breathe like a normal human. What’s happened? Why are you like this? What day is it? Somehow, you’re now risen and immortal, just like Jason. But while he’s a zombie, you may be more like a vampiric creature that needs blood to survive. Jason has to do his best to console and comfort you like how Frankenstein’s Creature tried to do with his Bride. There, there. You’re safe now and back home with Jason. He’ll never let anything bad happen to you ever again. He’ll teach you what he knows about being undead as best as he can.
13. Orphan/Criminal Minds inspired AU: You’re Asa Emory’s younger sister and the only other member of his family who survived your insane father’s familicide and macabre setting of the dinner table. The experience fucked you both up and warped your minds. The chemicals your father injected you with didn’t kill you, but they stunted your growth permanently. You escaped with Asa before your father could kill or stuff either of you, but you’re frozen in the body of a little girl. Even as an adult woman, your petite stature makes you look and sound like a child. Sometimes your brother takes you with him on “exterminator jobs” and lets you design or set traps. Other times you’ll lure in victims by pretending to be lost or in need of help. Most people can’t ignore a child in distress and you’re such a good actress. You’re so relieved and thankful to Asa for not infantilizing you. He speaks to you and treats you like the adult you are when you’re in the privacy of your house or otherwise not hunting for victims.
But you’re often angry and envious of adult women, frustrated at your own body. You ask your dear brother to bring back “dolls” for you to play with when he’s working. You’re both artists; While he’s a licensed Entomologist, you’re a master seamstress. He creates masterpieces with his collection of insects while you create beautiful garments for your victims. Asa steals jewelry from houses for your personal use. Sometimes you use parts from different bodies to mix and match in order to create the “perfect woman”: What you think you’d look like as an adult had you been able to grow normally. After you sew the body parts together, Asa preserves your work through embalming and puts it in the hotel.
Other times, you ask Asa to bring back beautiful women alive. These women are abducted by your brother and then paralyzed due to being heavily sedated with drugs through an IV. They’re conscious but cannot move or speak. You wash them, tend to their wounds, dress them up in clothing you made, and do their hair and makeup. You pose them however you want and talk to them like they’re your friends. You care for them until you either grow bored or they inevitably die from the drugs. Asa disposes of them or moves them to his hotel for his own artwork. As fucked up as it is, you and Asa truly love each other as siblings should. You do what you can to protect and care for each other and keep yourselves safe and under the radar.
14. Doctors were able to save Jesse’s baby by performing a post-mortem C-section after his wife killed herself. But knowing what kind of man he is and the gruesome details about the heinous crimes he’s committed, they falsely reported that you died in the womb along with your mother so that Jesse wouldn’t think to come after you and you could have a chance at a normal life. You were adopted by a new family and live under a new name, but sooner or later Jesse finds out one way or another that his child is out there somewhere, alive. He’s livid at this deception. He’s gonna make the people who faked your death and kept you away from him all these years wish they had never been born. Death is too merciful when there are many a worse fate he can arrange. He may even kill your adoptive parents just to eliminate all obstacles that would potentially get in the way of him taking you back. Either way, he’s going to kidnap you. It’s inevitable.
He’s your father and he loves you, even if he shows it in strange or scary ways since he can’t talk and is often surrounded by blood, gore, and death (Remember how he used a creepy Text-To-Speech program with his victims’ voice recordings on his phone and patted Princess’s head with his knife? Yeah. It’d be like that). When the time is right, he may even show you his face and tell you the story of what happened to him. When he heard the tragic news from Spann, he mourned for you rather than for his wife. While she was a means to an end to keep up a cover, he wanted more than anything to have a child of his bloodline to carry on his legacy. He never loved her, but he always loved you from the minute his wife told him she was pregnant. Once he has you back, he’s going to call you by the name he would’ve given you. The name your adoptive parents gave you is wrong. Your past life is dead. You always have been and always will be a Cromeans.
He’s filthy rich so he’ll spoil you and give you practically anything that your heart desires. But he’ll keep you under close watch and heavily guarded. Every room in the massive and luxurious mansion you live in has security cameras monitoring your every step. You feel like a bird in a gilded cage. Of course you can go outside and go anywhere you want! A trusted employee just has to drive and accompany you everywhere you want to go. Doesn’t matter if you’re old enough to drive and have a license or not. He won’t let you escape. He’s missed out on so much and he wants to get to know everything about you. He wants to mentor you and raise you to be his heir. One day you’ll inherit his “business” when you’re old enough and he either retires or is gone. Everything will be left to you and you’ll want for nothing. He’ll kill anyone who tries to usurp him or steal your rightful inheritance (cough Preston cough). He’s trying his best to be a good father, but given his line of work, well, it’s…complicated.
15. You and the slasher of your choosing love to make snuff films/sex tapes. You kill your victims in creative ways because you’re not just committing murder, you’re making ✨art✨. You do all sorts of weird stuff with your “subjects” (use your imagination) and then have sex in their large blood puddles while they bleed out and/or next to their freshly deceased bodies. You film it all on tape. You and your slasher are smart and resourceful so that the tapes can never be traced back to you or fall into the wrong hands and get exposed to the wrong people. You use voice modulators, never show your faces, etc. You’re both sick and twisted, but you aren’t incompetent or stupid to incriminate yourselves. You could send your tapes directly to the police and they’d never find you. That’s how experienced and skilled you both are.
Tumblr media
16. Near Dark and House of Wax Crossover ideas: Your older brother, Severen, made the stipulation that he wouldn’t join the clan unless he could bring you with him and turn you when you became an adult. You were still a child or teenager at the time and were his responsibility in your human life. You’re the only person in his family that he ever loved and he practically raised you (for better or worse). While you were still human, the clan would use you as a lure to fish for victims or to run errands for them during the day. Severen taught you how to defend yourself and gave you a trusty weapon to carry with you in case of trouble since he couldn’t be with you during daylight. In your vampire life, Severen’s love for you remains the same. Your brother can be cruel, violent, aggressive, and sadistic. But as your vampire sire, he taught you how to use your beauty and charm to seduce your victims. He emphasized the importance of never showing hesitation about killing. He and you make a chaotic duo. You hot-wire cars to go on high speed joyrides and eat the cops that try to pull you over, commit arson and theft, etc. You put on ✨performances✨ whenever you murder. It’s not enough to just kill. Yawn! That’s boring. You and Severen have to dress up and play a role. You have to make up a character or story. Or walk over a bar counter and slit throats with your boot spurs, etc.
Your road trips with your clan land you in Ambrose where you meet the Sinclair brothers. You really like them, especially Bo. He’s handsome, charming - A dangerous yet cunning murderer. Just like his brothers. All three of them put on stunning performances! Lester gives lost folks a ride into town, Bo sabotages their cars while they sleep then plays the part of a friendly mechanic, and Vincent silently lurks and slinks in the shadows. The brothers work together to murder their victims and put their embalmed bodies on display in the wax museum. Sometimes their victims are still alive while paralyzed in wax and posed. How avant-garde!
You spend most of your time with Bo during your stay and Severen hates that. He hates any human who has the audacity to flirt with or try to seduce his baby sister. It’s always been you and him for over a century! He doesn’t like that Bo is butting in and taking up your attention and time. He once saw you and Bo turn up the music in the garage and go downstairs to some secret room. He knew what you and Bo were doing down there and nearly blew a gasket. It took every last bit of self restraint for him to not barge in there and rip Bo’s head off from his shoulders and gorge on his blood. He had to leave and go out hunting to calm down.
Severen loves you, so he’ll begrudgingly tolerate Bo but his patience has always been thin. You may have to turn Bo and take him as your companion if you want him to live. If Bo isn’t your mate, your brother will probably snap and cut off his face or kill him in the most horrific way he can think of. The only thing stopping him right now is you, since you seem happy with Bo and are in love with him. (Don’t worry, Bo and Severen will warm up to each other and become best friends eventually. They’re very much alike.) Even if you have to turn Lester and Vincent and bring them along to get Bo to agree to your terms of joining the clan, that’s no problem. They’d be useful with their talents and welcome additions.
OR
You’re the youngest Sinclair and only daughter, so your elder brothers are very overprotective and almost smothering in how much they love and look after you. (Maybe you were born kind of sickly and that chronic sickness has been with you all throughout your life, even as an adult.) They practically raised you since Trudy and Victor were absent or neglectful even when they were alive. It was always one of your brothers who had to watch over you to make sure you didn’t run too far away when playing outside. They were your playmates and kept a close eye on you to make sure you didn’t get hurt or kidnapped. If you did get sick or hurt, they took care of you and made sure you had the right medicine and everything you needed.
Bo killed your father to protect you when the doctor went mad after Trudy’s death and tried to “fix you” with his heinous medical experiments. You would’ve been killed if your eldest brother hadn’t acted and shot Victor with his own shotgun. When he and Vincent were old enough, they pulled you and Lester out of foster care and brought you back home to Ambrose. You’re an adult now, and shit goes down when Severen and his clan just randomly drop in unannounced at Ambrose. Lester didn’t drive them in. Who are these punks? The cowboy vampire seems drawn to you and is stuck to your side like glue from the moment he meets you, always incredibly flirty and charming. Your brothers probably don’t like that but what can they do against a vampire clan? What can they do against a vampire who’s found his mate and it just so happens to be their baby sister? That’s right, nothing!
Severen hates that you’re hurting and suffering from your chronic illness. The medication you have to take and strict routine you live by daily seems like a lot just to remain somewhat functioning. He’s disappointed whenever your brothers interrupt your time together and take you back to the house to rest because your illness is worsening. The creep that he is, he may climb through your bedroom window to watch over you while you sleep just in case you need something while your brothers are busy murdering people. He’ll want to turn you sooner rather than later so that your illness dies off with your human self. The transformation is painful and difficult, but you’ll become not only stronger and faster, but also incredibly hotter. You’re hot now, so imagine how sexy you’ll be as a vampire!
But your brothers can be stubborn and will need lots of convincing first. Of course they’d love it if you were healthy! if vampirism can truly expel the illness from your body and it’s what you want, they won’t stop you from making that choice. But they’re not just gonna give you away to some vampire as if you’re property, even if he is your “mate”. Something this serious calls for a good ol’ sit down with the entire clan at the kitchen table. Good thing the vampires have all night, because this discussion is gonna take hours. Your brothers are gonna pull an all nighter while they interrogate the vampires and set down some ground rules. Severen would do anything to have you, even if it meant turning all of your brothers into vampires. They’re your family too, so If you want them to join the clan and they agree to being turned, he’ll welcome new members in without complaint for once.

I'm so sorry but I saw the supernatural ask and I felt compelled to explain the Lucifer situation. Ignore if you don't care lmao
The base premise is that Dean and Sam are two brothers who hunt the monsters that go bomp in the night because their mom was killed by a demon when they were children and their dad (John) decided to make it his life's mission to avenge her, going as far as to basically make child soldiers out of his kids. Dad disappears so they start looking for the demon with yellow eyes (iirc Azazel) because they think he's the one at fault.
During the various seasons both brothers keep dying, but the other never accepts it and every time they find a way to resurrect each other. During all this Dena has got a reoccurring "sure, demons exist. But they're not like the biblical kind. It's not like God is real. It's not like angels exist" while Sam still believes that something good MUST be out there so he thinks angels exist.
Sam develops demon powers. Long story. It's like, very thematic in the context of the show. The yellow eyed demon fed him blood as a baby, now he has like. Telekinesis.
Dean dies as a result of a shitton of things, spends 40 years in Hell (about 4 Earth months) until Castiel the angel "gripped him tight and raised him from perdition" (actual quote. This was season 4. They spent the rest of the 11 seasons denying he's in love with Dean).
Surprise! Angels are real!
Less of a surprise! They're jackasses! Also God is an absentee father!
Blah blah blah parallel between Cas' faith in God (his dad) for whom he's a soldier, and Dean who only sees himself as a weapon blah blah blah
War!!! The angels explain that the Winchesters were basically manufactured. The whole show has a theme about free will and predestination and defying faith. So here they discover that the angels manipulated events, like their parents getting together, their grandfather dying, their mom dying, etc. To ensure the brothers existed.
Why? Because Armageddon is near and Lucifer and Micheal are destined to fight against each other. However they need human vessels to do so. Both angels and demons do (Case is inside the body of a guy called Jimmy Novak. He dies at one point but Case keeps using his corpse. He had a daughter and wife). And apparently the Winchesters are the perfect ones.
And that's where they come to play! Dean cannot escape the destiny of only being useful as a weapon, cause that's what he is for Micheal. And remember the demon powers shit Sam went through? Also connected to this!
The one caveat is that Micheal needs permission to inhabit Dean's body, while Sam gets possessed by Lucifer. So Dean keeps denying it and postponing the battle trying to free his brother. Sam comes out of this hallucinating Lucifer for a while.
Their half brother also gets possessed by Lucifer at one point. He was also a rock star and I think the president? At one point? Iirc.
So no Sam doesn't really BECOME Lucifer. Still. Show's wack. Cain is kind of still alive in the show lmao. I only watched up to season 13. That's when they lost me.
It's so hard to crossover Hazbin Hotel with other Bible inspired stories because of the wild differences in Lucifer's personalities and stories. There's no way to reconcile whatever is going on with Supernatural Lucifer and Hazbin Lucifer.
I think Good Omens is the only one where I could kinda see it? But then there's Beelzebub that kinda fucks it up, and also Crowley having been the one to give Eve the fruit.
Sorry for the off topic ramble!

( paul mescal | non-binary | he/they ) — was that remus lupin passing through diagon alley? those close to them say they remind them of kind eyes that make you feel at home, scars littered across every inch of his body, guitar calloused fingers, nose buried in the confines of his infinite books, which i suppose seems to fit that gryffindor alumnus. they’re actually pretty anxious, insecure, and passionate for a twenty-three year old, but i wonder if it serves them well when working as a bartender at a muggle pub. rumor has it that the half blood is aligning with the the order now … for now. i wouldn’t have guessed… but this is a conversation we should be having somewhere else.
⁘ — 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐬. ⁘`
name. remus john lupin. nicknames. rem, remy, moony. gender. non-binary. occupation. bartender at a muggle pub. pronouns. he/they. age. 23. date of birth. march 10th. place of birth. wales. current location. shady apartment in essex. romantic orientation. homoromantic. sexual orientation. homosexual. relationship status. single. dominant hand. right.
⁘ — 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐬. ⁘
faceclaim. paul mescal. height. 5'8. hair color. dusty blonde. eye color. blue.
⁘ — personality. ⁘
golden retriever type energy, remus lupin has always worn his heart on his sleeve. while normally he’s the eternal optimist, his lycanthrophy has slowly but surely started to consume him. once upon a time, the darkness used to only warrant itself to the full moon but these days it’s been daring to swallow them whole. he does his best to not let anyone know he’s struggling, that the madness is winning. so he pretends as though everything is fine. though behind bright smiles, there’s a void and the lightness is slowly starting to fade. music is his one salvation. he’s been playing piano since a young age, skilled with the keys and now he’s in a rock band which is his true saving grace. he’d do anything for the people that he loves. he’s loyal to a tee, better at taking care of others than he is at taking care of himself. again, sees the best in others but can’t always see the best in himself. to new people, he comes off as quiet and reserved but really he’s just a bit shy until he knows the person.
⁘ — bio. ⁘
remus was born on 10 march 1960 to lyall and hope lupin. his father worked at the ministry of magic and encountered the werewolf fenrir greyback, who was on trial for killing two children. lyall was the only one at court to realize that greyback was a werewolf, as greyback pretended to be a muggle tramp. outraged when greyback was released, he voiced the opinion that greyback deserved nothing but death.
this opinion cost the lupin family dearly, as greyback decided to revenge himself upon lyall by targeting his son. as the nearly five-year-old remus slept peacefully in his bed, greyback forced his way in through the window. though lyall was able to get there in time to drive greyback off with powerful spells, he was unable to prevent him from completing his evil goal.
remus became infected with lycanthropy and he became a werewolf himself. his parents took him to various healers and tried their best to make him a normal boy again, but there was no cure for his condition.
so remus and his parents really had no other option but to live in hiding for the majority of the little wolf's childhood. it was too much of a risk for him to reveal his werewolf nature as a kid with no filter and the monthly transformations were rough on him and his body. people would ask questions.
remus was a lonely kid, never getting the chance to interact with any kids his own age, just his parents and nature. which is why he lost himself in books and music, showing his profound intelligence and maturity from a young age.
headmaster albus dumbledore made special accommodations allowing remus to attend hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. and it was there for the first time he was able to mingle with kids his own age. which it just happened to turn out, he was quite rubbish at. too shy, quiet and awkward with scars all over his body. he was a quick magnet for bullies.
though hogwarts was quick to become his safe haven even if he still felt like the odd one out. his friendship with james, sirius and peter helped to make him feel normal, it grounded him. they were quick to become his family in ways he never knew he needed. he was able to hide his werewolf side from them for four years, telling them he was just visiting his sick mum every month when in actuality he was trapping himself in the shrieking shack, a name that came to be because of him. the monster inside was desperate for blood and with no one else around (purposefully planned) he wreaked havoc on himself every month.
graduating hogwarts has proven to be harder on remus than he'd ever admit to his friends. they all seemed to have moved on, pursuing careers their interested in. whereas remus is not guaranteed that same luxury. no place wanted to hire him because he was a werewolf. so instead he's forced to work at a shitty pub in essex where the pay is even shittier. refuses to let his friends see his apartment because he's so embarrassed by the only place he can afford.
in a dream world, he'd be a healer. and he's bloody good at it. but again, no hospital can hire a werewolf.
⁘ — wanted connections. ⁘
EXES on good terms and bad. remus tends to gravitate toward men who don't always have his best interests at heart.

Re:suffering
First the caveat that this is writing choices and not meant to address the character's *personality*/core.
I think one of the big reasons you get people arguing in favor of the suffering thing comes down to catharsis and reprecussions.
Adrien's plot is suffering, like, you legitimately can't put a kid through what he has canonically gone through without issues. A literal property for his father's fashion empire, schedule controlled to the minute, mother dead, isolated from the world, yeeted into superheroing, the various things involved in that. A girl both frenzying at him and running from him, him being fairly useless in relationships having had almost zero and yet multiple people wanting one with him mere weeks after his emergence. His father's descent into madness, whatever the hell was going on in S5.
It's all there. Yet as you say it never seems to really *hit* him. This is because he needs to be a 'perfect' trophy for our lead heroine. After this much time being denied catharsis it no longer feels like he isn't affected, it feels like the best 'smiling through the pain and slowly going mad' riff you have ever experienced.
Meanwhile we see Marinette suffer alllllll the time. Dragging Marinette is this show's favorite thing next to beating the dead Chloé horse. Yet... It's always performative. Marinette suffers...but it almost always just works out fine when push comes to shove. She wants a boy and he is unavailable? Here's another boy. That one won't work out? He's the first one back, and a couple girls on top. Take your pick.
Lost Fu? Okay but now you have access to all the miraculous and here's Alya too. Lost all the Miraculous? Don't sweat it Monarch is going to go back to generic akumas. Lost the wish? Don't worry the results work out in your favor.
Nothing ever sticks. The show wants you to sympathize with Marinette (hence making her suffer) but won't let her actually fail/have a meaningful setback. She is required by law to girlboss by the end of every episode.
So all that just sets up a lot of cognitive dissonance. People express it ... Poorly.
See, I have to disagree on a number of points.
When it comes to Adrien, it does come across as him simply not caring rather than trying to smile through the pain, at least to me. His lack of significant interest or reactions in most of canon combined with the WOG knowledge that anything that could challenge his worldview and pure-heartedness is to be avoided and never acknowledged as a possible factor in his behavior gives me no choice but to read him that way. The crew won’t even acknowledge Gabriel, or any other parent for that matter, as being abusive so according to the universe’s rules and intentions, while Gabriel is extremely overbearing and controlling, no one, in or out of the ML universe, is meant to interpret that as anything other than misguided forms of affection. As a result, while Adrien is canonically traumatized in that he feels caged, he can’t resent his father for more than an ep at a time and truly recognize how bad his situation is. In addition to the fact that we’ve had a couple of scenes of Adrien confiding in Plagg about his upsets, he rarely mentions difficulties coping with family, instead focusing on his romantic pursuits. Just look at how his main daddy drama in S5 was about Gabriel disapproving of Marinette rather than the lifetime of isolation and the cover-up regarding his own mother’s mysterious disappearance.
And don’t get me wrong, I’ve made posts about his fixation on romance being a bad coping mechanism and what it would imply for his character, but as far as canon interpretation goes, he acts like The Problems don’t even exist and only seems to care about getting a girlfriend 99% of the time. WOG pretty much confirms that.
As for Marinette, I think implying that having a support system negates suffering is incorrect on many levels. It helps with coping, yes, but does not negate the hurt. And it’s not like she got 1:1 tradeoffs either so none of the events can be considered bittersweet in regards to their effects on her. The writing being Lazy and Bad does make it not as bad as it could be, but it’s still undoubtedly bad.

SFW ALPHABET
Tumblr media
Pairing: Dmitri Antonov x Reader / Enzo x Reader Summary: What it says on the tin. Warnings: Mild angst for some questions and some really mild suggestiveness. It’s pretty chill for the most part.  Note: Gender neutral reader, or at least gender’s not emphasized. I’m also trying out a new formatting style that I picked up on another blog of mine that I like, but anyway. I wanted to put something out since I’m swamped in coursework and I’ve been meaning to get back to my long-fic on here. I’m pretty sure these lists have been done before, but I have my own headcanons so why not. Of course, these are my opinions so your milage may vary. I also altered some questions since I didn’t like/vibe with them. This can also be taken as a reader-insert, though sometimes I use ‘you’ in a non-specific way. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! The spicer version will be up in a day or so!
18+ version (coming soon.)
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
He’s more affectionate than his first impressions might make him seem. Early into knowing him, he might be a little distant physically, but eventually he might get more comfortable with showing affection. In a platonic sense, he tends to go for quick pats–a hand on a shoulder as he passes, throwing his arm around a shoulder if he’s feeling playful, a reassuring squeeze on your shoulder if he’s trying to be comforting. In a romantic sense, he can be pretty affectionate. Especially in private. Pulling you in for a kiss by a piece of clothing, hugs, lingering touches and caresses. Though, regardless, he’s a little awkward about PDA and is more reserved on that front.
B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)
Loyal, a kind of ride-or-die type of person. Dmitri’s lost a lot of friends and family over the years for various reasons, and his parents both had hard upbringings and lost a lot of people. While he isn’t exactly icy about it, letting someone in close to him is hard for him at points. So, if you end up in a ‘best friend’ situation, Dmitri has definitely opened up to you and trusts you deeply. While he’s not prone to coddling or is the best shoulder to cry on at points, he’s a very solid friend and he’s there for you in ways that matter.
As for how that friendship would start, it would start kind of slow unless a situation makes that unlikely. He’s kind of charming, witty in a pretty dry sort of way, and can hold a conversation decently enough. Dmitri isn’t bad company, but he’d end up being the type of person you’d see and talk to every once and a while. That is, until you manage to catch him in a moment of free and stress-free time and once he realizes he likes your company too, he’d start to go out of his way to interact and things would progress from there.
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)
As much as he’d struggle to admit it, yeah. It kind of ties into how he is with affection, so he’d be more prone to do so in private. Having your weight at his side while sitting beside you or you leaning back into him can be comforting for him. He doesn’t really acknowledge it or even fully grasp the feeling for what it is, but solitude is something he’s become very numb to. So, it is often a nice reminder of how nice it can be to have someone he can actually be like that with.
As for how, it depends. If it’s upright, he’ll rest his arm over your shoulders or upper back and likes it when you lean your head on his shoulder. Dmitri’s got restless hands, though, so he might end up playing with bits of your clothing (strings, zippers, ect) or hair as he does so. Laying down/sleeping he tends to prefer to be the big spoon, starting out with an arm wrapped around your middle and legs tangled with your own so your back is pressed against his chest. Though, once he’s fallen asleep, he either ends up rolling onto his back or just kind of slings an arm over your middle.
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? What would that look like?)
Yes, in the long run. Though, he wouldn’t fully know what that would look like. All he knows is that he’d like to be doing a different profession and be able to be more involved with his son, otherwise a lot of it would end up being compromises with you. While he certainly wants/needs money, it’s mostly so he can leave (be that the life he currently lives or his home country in general) but in the long run he just wants to live somewhere calm (and preferably where the government isn’t watching your every move, but y’know.)
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
Face-to-face. If it comes to a point where things are unsalvageable, he’s definitely made that known beforehand and has tried to fix things. He’d end up hating himself if he broke things off over the phone or something, as painful the process would be in person.
F = Fights (What are arguments like with them? How do they resolve disagreements/fights? What are some things they would have a hard time forgiving?)
Dmitri’s temper is pretty slow-building–if anything, he seems pretty calm if not a little biting and it can be a surprise if he gets physical. He definitely has had his moments, though with loved ones he tries to avoid physical confrontations and has tried to break people apart if he senses that fists might be swung between family/friends. If you were to get into an argument with him, Dmitri kind of closes off. Tight expression and body language, clipped answers, bitter sarcasm before trying to distance himself or physically leave for a while if he’s able.
As for resolving issues, if it’s something he is solely at blame for, he’ll try to approach it and talk about things when tensions aren’t running so high. If it’s something you’re both at fault for, it can be a little more difficult to navigate but in the end he just wants it resolved because the stress will get to him after a while. If left alone for too long, it’ll shift into bitterness and/or resentment and he doesn’t want that.
In regards to what he finds unforgivable, that can be a bit of a gray area. He’s done his fair share of morally questionable/objectionable things in his life, and he would be way too aware how hypocritical it would be of him to get on a high horse about some things. Yet, he has lines he doesn’t want crossed. Harm to him or his family is pretty major, he won’t stay in a relationship with someone who’s cheated on him, etc. His forgiveness could be earned in some situations, but others he would struggle to let go of.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
This can be another sort of gray area, given his (former) profession but one-on-one he’s more gentle than you think. He won’t really treat anybody like they’re made of glass, but he has his moments of genuine tenderness both physically and emotionally. Yet, it can depend on the situation. If it’s clear you’re under some sort of emotional distress, he’s not going to go out of his way to make that worse and he’ll try to be as gentle as he can be. That can be echoed physically, too, unless the situation doesn’t allow him the time.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
(I’m going to sound like a broken record but–) It depends. Sudden hugs from strangers or aquaintances that he doesn’t know well, he wouldn’t be a huge fan of being hugged by them. Though, with people he’s close to, he actually doesn’t mind them and will usually return them. In a platonic sense, he doesn’t mind a quick one in greeting, but if you’re in a deeper relationship with him then him initiating them might be a little more common.
In general, his hugs are tight. Not rib crushing, but enough to not make you feel like he’s waiting for it to end. Gives your shoulder(s) a shake when he parts if it’s a particularly excited one. If you’re seeking comfort from him, he’ll hold you closer to him, a hand on the back of your head or just wrapped around your shoulders. If he’s seeking comfort from you, Dmitri acts more reluctant and almost embarrassed he’s putting you in that situation, but he’ll relax almost as soon as you return the embrace and hold you tight. Probably doesn’t say anything for a good while.
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)
It takes him a while. Dmitri married quickly before he really understood if he actually loved his wife at the time or not, and he’s not too inclined to repeat that. So, once he ends up saying it, he means it and it’s probably after a good while into your relationship.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
His jealousy is a lot like his anger, though he’s not prone to jealousy too often. However, he definitely has his moments. It’s not to point where he’d lash out or try to ruin anything, but he gets quiet and closed off. He doesn’t say much if you interact with him and he can get pretty agitated when he can’t leave the situation. Eventually it fades and he’ll shake it off as him being childish, but from time to time he might get a little peeved or, if you’re in a private and more intimate relationship, he might make it hard for you to pay attention to anybody other than him for a bit…
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?)
Firm, confident. He cups the sides of your face/head while he does so, especially if it’s just a quick one. Sensual ones are slower, more drawn out and he likes to pull/hold you close to him. He tends to go for your lips, naturally, but he enjoys kissing your neck and will kiss the back of your shoulders, shoulder blades, or along the spine if your back is to him. On him, Dmitri really likes to be kissed along the jaw, below his ear or down his neck. If you want his attention, that’s a good way to get it. Sometimes, he doesn’t mind being kissed on the chest, palm/hand, or shoulders.
L = Little ones (How are they around children? Would they want one(s) of their own?)
He’s pretty decent around children, and younger children he entertains pretty easily enough. Dmitri enjoys it in short-term interactions, but he wouldn’t exactly want to run a daycare out of his home. Given his experience with Mikhail, he’s at least somewhat familiar with being around a child and is more relaxed than he was in the first month or so after his son’s birth. Older children/teenagers is where he struggles, though, and feels intimidated from time to time (and would rather take that admission to his grave.)
As for wanting more of his own, Dmitri’s pretty happy with Mikhail. Given him having to leave him behind while he fled to America, he would be too focused on getting him to safety to really think about having another. When things are settled, though? Maybe!
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them? What is it like to wake up with them?)
Dmitri’s an early riser, it’s rare that you wake up and he’s not already awake or starting to wake up. If there’s nothing to do, he might stay in bed with you, even if he doesn’t fully fall back asleep. However, if there’s something to be done, he can get a little too restless to just lay around for too long. Catch him in the right moment, though, he’ll probably be open to cuddle in bed for a while before he has to shower and get up fully. Mornings can be particularly restless, so he can be a little hard to convince to lay around for a bit.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them? What is it like falling asleep with them?)
Usually it’s relaxed dinners (unless the situation says otherwise) and he’s more likely to spend more quality time with you at night. Unless he’s just exhausted, but even then he might hold out until he can pull you to bed with him. Pillow talk is pretty common and he takes the time to catch up with you or gets pulled into a prolonged conversation. As the night drags on, he gets more cuddly and kind of space-y, and loses his train of thought pretty often once he gets tired enough. At that point, he probably just pulls you into him and mutters his goodnight, leaving you to drift off or listen to his breathing even out.
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
It takes a while for Dmitri to really open up about himself, and most of the time you get to know him in bits and pieces. He picked that up from his family, considering even as an adult he still doesn’t know a ton about his parents or his family line, even though I headcanon that both are still alive. However, it’s definitely a sign of trust if he starts talking about himself at length, especially if he dips into childhood, his time in the military, etc. He’s more prone to listen to other people’s stories than he is to share his own. So, it takes a while before you hear more personal details about him.
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)
While he doesn’t exactly have the patience of a saint, he is not all that quick to anger. He’s learned how to act that way, but in reality it takes a genuine effort to actually piss him off. There are a few buttons he doesn’t like pushed, but it can be hard to move him from scoffs and sarcasm to his quiet anger.
Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
Dmitri’s a details guy, but he’s not exactly a walking encyclopedia of knowledge on the people he knows in his life. He definitely remembers the important stuff, the deeper conversations, but sometimes he may forget something in passing or get a detail about it wrong. However, he does remember an impressive amount of details about certain people, memories, etc.
R = Romance (How romantic are they naturally? Is it part of their personality or do they have to try? Do they have any specific love languages?)
Dmitri’s not exactly a born romantic, but he’s certainly charismatic enough and he definitely puts some thought into any romantic gestures. He’s primarily a ‘physical touch’ person when it comes to love language, which does clash with both a sort of insecurity in him about that along with a bit of a cultural thing that he picked up from his mother and father. From time to time, you may know he’s actively trying to be romantic, but other times it might just happen as he goes.
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)
He’s pretty protective, though not exactly overbearing. If it’s clear that you’ve got yourself in a situation that could turn sour or dangerous, he isn’t likely to just stand back and watch. More often than not, he’ll try to get between you and another person/group, but he’s also willing to back you up if you need him to. As for how he wants to be protected, he doesn’t really want to be in any specific way. He’s very appreciative of support and assistance if he needs it, but he’s a little too headstrong in a certain way to let himself hide behind you or anybody else.
T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
Dmitri definitely tries to put effort into the things he does, especially if he’s doing them for you. His dates are usually thought out unless it’s just a casual night out, and he definitely carries over the same energy for anniversaries. Any gifts he gives tend to be more on the practical side over flashy/showy. Not only does he enjoy knowing that you’d get continued use out of a gift, he’s also used to those types of gifts from his upbringing and he’s found the value in them. If he gifts you something, it’s guaranteed he’s thought about it beforehand.
U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)
Well, his smoking is gonna catch up to him in his later years if it hasn’t already. If we’re talking personality or lifestyle habits, Dmitri can oversell his confidence in a situation and it can lead to poor judgment of character or missing red flags that he always kicks himself over in hindsight. He can be overly biting in his remarks if he’s angry and can be a little rough with his teasing/sarcasm, which is usually him not feeling the room or situation before speaking.
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
Not overly so? He does groom himself and takes care of his appearance to an extent, but there were plenty of points in his life where he couldn’t really afford to put much thought into his appearance. Plus, he’s worked mostly in places where he’s wearing a uniform, so he’s not really cared too much about clothing style and hasn’t explored much until he has the time and freedom to do so. However, he does maintain his facial hair and his hair in general.
W = Wedding (Would they pop the question first? How do they feel about marriage?)
Yes, possibly. Again, if he’s even thinking along those lines, he’s probably been in a relationship for a good while and is sure where he stands with his feelings. Though, you could take him off guard and ask first if you wanted, but with his experience in jumping too soon into a marriage he might be put on the spot. Dmitri is not bitter about the prospect of marriage, and while he’s lived for a while with the idea that he might not end up married again, it hasn’t left him cynical all that much. Of course, his previous relationship has complications, but if the feelings are there then he may be open to getting married again.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)
All the books Dmitri got smuggled in that are in English are written all over by him–seemingly disjointed notes in Cyrillic in the margins, underlined and circled words in the text, etc. This is because he used them a lot when teaching himself English, as finding someone to speak it with was a challenge most of the time. It took him a lot of time and patience to get his fluency to where it is.
So, all of this to say, if you wanted to learn how to speak his native language, expect writing to feature pretty heavily. Though, he’d be a patient teacher.
Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
Dmitri isn’t prone to staying in overly toxic relationships–if there’s more fighting than he can handle, he won’t stay and will break it off. He values confrontation and airing issues so they can be settled, but if nothing changes, he just figures he’s not a good match. Given the tension he’d experience in America during this time period, hostility and suspicion doesn’t get you far with him. Jealousy can be a hit or miss, as he can understand it to a degree, but it might eventually bleed into the first bit about fighting and incompatibility.
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habit of theirs?)
If given the choice, Dmitri tends to settle into sleeping on his stomach, pillow over his head or his arm curled under it. If it’s comfortable for you, he doesn’t mind you using his back or shoulders as a pillow or you resting against him in that position. He can be a light sleeper sometimes, but the closeness can be comforting to him sometimes.

Do you think, if Dick had been the one to die and come back as a supervillain, Alfred would have lamented about what a bad seed Dick was as a kid?
And I mean that in any way you want to interpret it — would the writers have gone there to drive home the narrative? would Alfred, as a character, have looked back on Dick's history and hyperfocused on the bad things?
'Cause here's the thing, since at least the eighties, Dick has been written as having a temper that sometimes pushes into murderous territory.
In various versions of canon, Dick has at least attempted to act upon his murderous intent towards:
Tony Zucco
Slade Wilson
Blockbuster
The Joker
Two Face
And that's just the ones I personally know about, I'm sure it's an incomplete list.
You could argue that since Slade, Blockbuster, and Joker all happened when Dick was Nightwing, they couldn't be held against a Dick who died while he was still Robin. But the incident with Two Face I'm referencing happened in Robin: Year One. And Zucco? Well, I'm sure there's been multiple incidents where Dick had to be talked down from killing him, but that goes back to before Dick even was Robin. Almost all versions of Dick's backstory have him ending up apprenticing to Batman because he either expressed his intent to take revenge for his parents, or because he actively sought it out. Even in the versions where Zucco wasn't the one who killed the Graysons (in Batman Forever, Dick notably spends the entire movie talking about how he's going to kill Two Face, though while Bruce pushes back against that idea at every turn, he ends up killing Two Face himself? I love that movie, but that always seemed kind of odd to me. Anyway).
So you have this situation where Bruce takes in this hurt, lost young boy, and this hurt, lost young boy is like "I'm gonna kill that guy for murdering my parents." Eventually he's talked out of it (or Zucco at least seemingly dies, depending on the version of events). But then later on, Dick gets beaten almost to death by Two Face, gets fired for his own good, then runs away and joins ... the League of Shadows/Assassins. Or at least a junior recruitment division of. Like, he leaves Batman's tutelage and the first thing he does is join an assassin training camp. And he goes through the whole program right up to the final exam where he's presented with the task of killing a specific mark. He goes into it knowing he's going to try to find a way out of the actual killing ... until he realizes the mark is Two Face and suddenly he's conflicted 'cause actually? He kind of wants to kill Two Face for what he did to him, and he's only saved from having to actually make the decision and grappling with his own morality by Batman showing up and giving him a convenient out.
What I'm saying here is that even though Dick's the most vocal about killing and excessive violence being Wrong and Following Batman's Code? He has basically all of the same violent tendencies Jason did. He just is and was more invested in keeping Batman's good will and trust, and believes that Batman's moral compass is the most Right And Just, so he's able to keep a handle on his temper most of the time.
So ... if it had been Dick who was killed by the Joker and came back as Red Hood, would Alfred have still talked about how violent he was and what a bad seed he'd been since the beginning?

In honor of Disability Awareness Month here are some Cyrus Borg headcannons of mine
He's Transgender FtM deadname Cerise is close to his current name as he wanted to honor his parents who supported him throughout his transition
His full name is Cyrus Hassan Borg and he was born on October 13th 1975
He has a prosthetic and is an ambulatory wheelchair user having been born with a severe case of spina bifida
The closest to our real life heritages that would compare to his village and family is Pakistani
My guy has legitimately been clocked in at going 10 mph in his wheelchair. It is now a goal of all employees to see if they can ever catch him going faster then this.
He's the quiet imp in the corner the one you don't assume is up for causing trouble but oh boy you ask him and he can and will leap on it
Legitimately made 16 versions of Pixal because ADHD hyperfixation wouldn't leave him alone about perfecting the program
Was accidentally inspired by a legend that came out of Birchwood Forest about Zane
All 16 of his Nindroid kids are still currently online and running around, he is a very proud dad and takes every opportunity to show them off to whoever will listen
His children give him flack for this haha
Skylor once tried to give him a meal on the house as a thank you for bringing the community back together he instead slipped $100 bill into her tip jar she still makes jokes towards him as a result to this day over it. Pixal lost it laughing when Skylar told her
The reason he did this he is very very charitable maybe a billionaire but even he is confused how he has so much money since he's donated so much back to the community through various charities
Cyrus is also he reason Kryptarian constantly has upgrades and the right equipment. The prisoners have a certain level of respect for him as a result of this.
He lives in Borg Industries publicly it is not known that there are five levels above his office these are personal Apartments but to throw people and would be kidnappers off he does own several vacation places nearby that he frequents to make it look like he lives there
He is a very sneaky mother fucker Pixal found out this the hard way when she told him no coffee and he got a co-worker to smuggle it into him
The community absolutely loves Cyrus like he gets so much fan mail and fan art from the public that they have their own designated spot and room to sort it all out
He actually does have a weapon of choice throwing daggers he picked this up after season 7
The reason Pixal is so good at dodging things being thrown is because Cyrus in his anger and fury will sometimes let loose any tool in his hands that he has
whether this be screwdrivers, one time it was his shoe, another time it was a pen. It's never really anything that can actually cause harm it's more so him just letting them know he's absolutely Furious
Which brings me to my second point it is very very hard to get him absolutely angry at you if he is throwing things at you that means you have definitely crossed the line somewhere
His wheelchairs are all custom made by himself but he is known if a worker comes to him and requests he will make their own Mobility aids or repair them
Borg Industries is a Forefront leader of workers rights there is literally a plaque on the door that reads
Borg Industries is a Safe Haven for anyone that Society deems a minority, if a worker is caught discriminating against any of these groups they will be immediately be dragged upstairs in front of the CEO, footage reviewed to make sure they are seeing what they were and you will be personally handed a pink slip and fired.
Cyrus also has made it well known that the company will not work with anybody who does not also uphold this there have been many companies made bankrupt by borg Industries stepping out after they were caught discriminating or cheating people out of their well-earned income.
Although it doesn't appear so the stairs outside actually on one side collapse in on themselves and a elevator switches into place lifting the person up to the level of the doors
Cyrus and Pixal visit Children's Hospitals around Ninjago at random, they will also randomly pop into universities and teach a class on Nindroid technology Pixal showing her tech. Zane occasionally joins as well,

I was discussing with a friend how I've often been a 'fandom mum' since I became active within the fandom world just over a year ago. Both in-person at convention spaces and online, I'm more than happy to fill that space for anyone who needs it.
Tumblr media
It is, essentially, because I am all too aware that you cannot choose your blood relatives. But I fully believe that you can choose your family.
I've just passed my second anniversary of disowning my parents. I'm 40, turning 41 in a few months. Cutting ties is one of the best decisions I ever made. The damage, however, had long since been done. And I'm still working on reversing it all. But I started about a year ago, and I'm working on it. Which is all that matters.
I was raised in a very everything-phobic household. Which was...interesting, seeing as we moved all around the world. Living with racist, homophobic, judgmental parents in a new country every 6-18 months was certainly a challenge. Especially as a genderfluidy queer person (I'm pansexual), with a slew of mental health issues (mostly due to my upbringing) and neurospiciness.
I wasn't allowed to hyperfixate. Wasn't allowed to watch the majority of TV shows/channels. Couldn't express myself in ways that made me happy or comfortable, or weren't approved of. Was mocked and manipulated in various ways that I won't go into but suffice it to say it was all Not Very Nice At All. I was essentially not allowed to be myself, express myself and be interested in the things I wanted to be interested in.
Tumblr media
Fun! I finished off 2023 by having trauma therapy, which helped tremendously, and has helped me put a lot of things into context, including my wish to support others.
I've been an advocate of mental health awareness since I was hospitalised for severe peri/postpartum depression (PPD) with symptoms of psychosis after having my second child. I was very ill after my first child, but slipped through the net mostly due to lack of beds, and essentially had continuous PPD the entire time from being pregnant with my first child until long after my second child was born. Probably until around her third birthday. But, regardless, I resolved to be open and honest about my mental health, and to encourage others to look after themselves.
And I have continued to do so. My daughter is now 8. My mental health is, overall, pretty stable. It has its peaks and troughs, 2023 was rough; I lost a close friend who was younger than me to cancer and the grief destroyed me. The trauma therapy was another thing that was extremely difficult, but ultimately very rewarding.
But regarding the fandom mum-ness.
You can't choose your relatives. But you can choose your friends. And your fandom family. I can't really talk about my fandom stuff with my family here at home. But I can with my fandom family online. I learn fandom speak and facts from my fandom kids. And I'm here to be a fandom parent to anyone who needs one.
I'm not the perfect parent. My kids are 8 & 11 and will confirm that. But in this house we are LGBTQ+ proud and supportive. We ask people's pronouns (mine are she/they). We support our friends and stand up for them, when others put them down or bully them. We believe in ourselves and our interests, even if they're not necessarily 'popular'. We think gender is an arbitrary societal construct. We buy clothes from whatever department we want. Etc.
And we all think the Metatron is a wanker. Well, actually, no. It's just me and the 8yo. The 11yo hasn't watched GO. Neither has my husband, because he refuses. But my daughter is cool. ;)
So if you need a fandom parent, I'm here. I may not reply straight away, because I do have an 8 and 11yo. But I will try!

10 Years Ticket rant:
I’m really not surprised a certain fandom is shitting on Tu and her character Kongkwan in 10 years ticket. Another fandom did the same thing with Tu and her character in F4.
We’ve have seen Kongkwan and her family’s reputation get ruined over a lie for the past 10 years. They have had to move, lose their jobs, switch schools, etc. Not to mention Kongkwan has been getting harassed and bullied by faculty, students, and parents at this new school and trying to force her to leave. People claiming Kongkwan is just a cry baby and acting like none of this things listed above is a reason not to be depressed and cry. Kongkwan isn’t even a cry baby she literally stands up for herself and is stern on people not bullying her out of school this time but no one seems to talk about that for some reason.
What makes this lack of empathy for Kongkwan worse is that people’s dislike for the character is now shifting to Tu herself (just like what happened in f4). People claiming Tu can’t act and that she and her character are bland which is just simply not true and just a made up excuse.
This story is about a murder, the events that led up to it, and how it’s aftermath effected several characters, their families, and their relationships with each other. The core characters are adolescent so it’s obvious their emotions/actions are gonna be more nuanced especially considering their current family dysfunctions and the trauma of a brother/best friend being murdered by another close family friend (which is a lie).
People seem to get this nuance with Phukao’s character by why isn’t this nuance and empathy extending to Kongkwan? We have seen people project their feelings about a murder on a 16 year-old girl like she’s the criminal. Having to move and switch schools constantly for 10 years because people assume you’re gonna murder them and don’t want you in their vicinity. Is that not also trauma?
Of course Phukao is understandably angry, ostracized, lonely, confused, depressed, lost, etc. He has every right to feel the way he does but some of his actions towards Kongkwan are just wrong. Phukao even knows he’s wrong because he feels sorry for how is treats and talks to Kongkwan and tries to apologize after.
Phukao chooses to engage with Kongkwan when he gets into his emotions in the spur of the moment. Like in ep6 going to her house after finding the book or in ep4 snatching brother uncle from her. If Phukao wanted he could simply pretend like Kongkwan doesn’t exist, not engage her, ignore her, not speak, or look at her. Clearly he gets angry when he sees her so why even give her his energy. Kongkwan hasn’t approached Phukao first cause she understands he’s not fond of her presence at school and doesn’t want to further upset him.
It’s obvious Phukao’s anger is misplaced on Kongkwan. She has personally not done anything to hurt him or his brother. Her family was just as blindsided by the murder as was his. Both families have been reaping the repercussions of the murder but is different ways. Phukao is angry Kongkwan’s familial bonds have been less detrimental than his. It’s clear Phukao wishes he and Kongkwan were like they used to but that’s clouded by her connection to his familial trauma. It also doesn’t help Plu and Zo family’s chose not to choose sides and remain friends with both after the murder.
I think most of peoples’s problem with this show is it’s style and genre. 10 Years Ticket is at its core a typical melodramatic Thai soap/lakorn. All the archetypes, tropes, drama, plot devices, etc are relatively standard. What the show has done well so far is portraying the complexities and nuances of a group of adolescent friends with various family dysfunctions cope after a tragedy. None of these four friends are terrible human beings. They’re teenagers still trying to figure out life, school, romance and friendship while simultaneously suffering from shared trauma and familial dysfunction. Their emotions are often times intense and unregulated which leads to poor and unfavorably decisions. These teens aren’t black/white or good/bad. They’re way more complex, deep and interesting than that.
I’ll end this saying that if you’re dogpiling and relentlessly shitting on any of the core teen characters (Phukao, Kongkwan, Plu, or Zo) then I fear you’ve really missed the point of the show. These complex teens are riddled with trauma and dysfunction so they ALL deserve grace and empathy.
P.S.: Some (a lot) of the hate Kongkwan (Tu) and Zo (View) get is just misogyny and unhealthy Parasocial relationships with bl actors

1, 5, 12 for each of your OCs for the ask game! :3
:3c
hoo boy this got kinda long
1. Who are they closest to? How did they meet and what do they like to do together?
(lots of broad strokes for this one because i'm still figuring a lot of these details out)
Rin: NO ONE. Rin is close to NO ONE. She is a LONE WOLF who doesn't need ANYBODY!... It's Talynn, but she'll never admit it. They met when Talynn got caught up in a crime Rin committed, likely some kind of theft. Rin was getting chased by authorities, passed off the stolen goods to Talynn to get away, Talynn ran, and Rin later tracked her down later to get her stuff back. They've been unable to get rid of each other ever since. Their favourite things to do together are getting into trouble/literally anything other than that depending on who you ask.
Talynn: Her parents. They were Mighty Heroes and the moments she cherished the most were when they'd hold her close, let her hold their weapons, and tell her stories based on their exploits.
Scraps: Physically? Rin, Talynn, and Zedd. Emotionally? No one. Scraps does not care for people beyond how they can contribute to Scraps' experiments.
Zedd: The first thing Zedd remembers is waking up in a hole in the ground and wandering along the nearest road until he was taken in by a family of traveling tinkers. They taught him everything he knows about people, the world, morality, and so on. He stayed with them for several months until they arrived at the first big city he'd encountered, at which point he got hopelessly lost for several weeks and by the time he regained his bearings they'd moved on. He loved playing hide and seek with the family's two children (he was amazing at hiding, terrible at seeking) and "helping" their parents with their tinkering work. (His help was quickly reduced to 'hold the pliers, sit over there, and hand me the pliers when I ask for them' but it was still important work in his mind)
5. How affectionate are they? What are their top love languages?
Rin: Not very. She was conceived and raised for the sole purpose of serving as a magical battery for her mother, then ran away and lived on the streets of various cities, so her emotional availability to give and receive affection is...basically zero. Rin spending any time with someone without having a plan to escape and/or murder them is serious affection coming from her.
Talynn: Touch and acts of service. Talynn wants to hug everyone and run her fingers through their hair and do whatever she can to make their lives easier. She wants to be the kitten right at the centre of the big kitty pile. But she has self worth issues, and occasionally transforms into a barely controllable monster with a hunger for warm flesh. So she rarely indulges in giving/receiving affection for fear of not being deserving of it and/or horribly maiming the person she's getting close to.
Scraps: Scraps can seem very affectionate. Scraps will curl up on people's laps at a moment's notice the instant the temperature starts dropping, and Scraps will show interest in whatever it is someone is doing and will seem engaged and ask all manner of questions, and various other things that might seem affectionate. But there's no emotional component to this. Literally every single thing Scraps does is to serve their own survival and further their own knowledge/experiments. The closest thing Scraps has to a love language is involving someone in an experiment while also ensuring said person doesn't get horribly maimed.
Zedd: There's so much affection in this idiot. He just wants to be loved and love other people in turn, doesn't matter the love language. If you express affection at him he will return in in the same way tenfold. Give him a gift and you'll start finding your pockets filled with all manner of random stuff that reminded him of you. Perform an act of service for him and you could ask him to kill someone for you and he'll probably do it if you say please a few times.
12. Are they hot-headed or even-tempered? What frustrates them the most?
Rin: The hottest of hot heads. Emotional regulation? Fuck off and die. Anger is a binary setting for her; she's either not angry and everything is fine, or she's angry and someone might die. Her biggest frustration? People trying to control or manipulate her. You try and gaslight her and the only light being shed will be from your body after she sets you on fire.
Talynn: She seems very cool and in control and even tempered but that's mostly just the dissociation. There's such a chasm between Talynn and her emotions (because of the whole turning into a flesh eating monster when angry or scared) because she's trying so very, very hard to not feel anything. She can deal with any frustration almost indefinitely as long as it's coming from an external source, but the second it comes from herself or her own thoughts or actions it's a major source of frustration, the flesh eating monster thing is undoubtedly her biggest frustration in life.
Scraps: Scraps approaches every situation in life with the same calm, cold logic. Scraps is in perfect control of Scraps' emotions at all times. Nothing frustrates Scraps, every possible frustration is just another exciting puzzle to solve.
Zedd: He's very even tempered in that he barely knows what's going on most of the time. He can be prone to random mood swings because of this, as when he actually beings to understand what's going on he can unexpectedly start Feeling Things about things, and occasionally those feeling come from a place hidden by his amnesia.
hurrrghghghg okay i think that's everything

I had a dream...
It was a weird dream that didn’t make sense and that’s not the point. Right before I woke up, in this dream I was telling my ex (my son’s birth father) that he needed to love our son for who he is, not who he wanted him to be.
This stuck with me because in the dream (as in with real life) everyone else in the dream who met my son (who was at various ages in his life for no apparent reason but dream) adored him.  My son is completely nonverbal and has a lot of trouble expressing himself with his AAC.  But he is also extremely sweet and social.  He has always been popular with his classmates and teachers, and charmed so many nurses and doctors I’ve lost count.
How strangers react to and treat him has never, ever been a problem in our lives.  Children on the playground immediately accepted he couldn’t talk and that was the end of it.  Most adults go out of their way to be patient with him when he tries to express himself, even if it’s just a random cashier at the supermarket.  His smile is infectious and he’s a show off so he does everything he does with glee.
Our problem has always been with family, which has been painful.  His birth father was completely overwhelmed at first, then distant and argumentative.  He refused to give him allergy medicine because he wasn’t showing allergy symptoms.  He got my son walkie-talkie’s for his tenth birthday.  He always wanted to talk to him on the phone, but got upset because my son got bored of just listening and wandered off after a few minutes.  He has my son’s cellphone number so they can text, but as far as I know, he’s never contacted him.
We tried living with my mother, who was the person who taught me to be the mother I am now.  She took everything he did personally, even though he was five.  Every tantrum was the end of the world and she lamented that “You’ll have him for the rest of your life.” as if it was some huge tragedy.  As much as I love her, we had to move out and get our distance, for both their sakes.  Their relationship is distant, because she gave up trying to interact with him at all.  He sits on her couch and pets her cat when we visit and she gets a hug and a kiss when we leave.  He likes going to Nana’s, but I don’t think he ever forgot how much she fussed at him and the things she said to me about him.
I moved here because this is where my family was.  The support network that made me the person who could handle all of my son’s challenges and needs absolutely failed me when I needed them.  When I had abdominal surgery and was supposed to be resting, I got a call from my nurse brother-in-law that I needed to come get him because he wouldn’t eat or sleep or let them tube feed him.  So the day after surgery, I had to take the bus across the city to get him.
That was the last time I asked for any member of my family’s help.  Until he was thirteen years old and my now husband moved in with us, I did everything alone.  School was my respite and when I got things done.  I took him with me on every errand I couldn’t do when he was at school, including my own doctor’s appointments.
But it still hurts.  The people who should love him and want to be part of his life chose to be petty about small mistakes he made as a child or upset about who he’ll never be.  My in-laws are better with him, but maybe because they came in with realistic expectations.  But my family has shown an appalling amount of ableism towards him his entire life that I just can’t condone.
His birth father is useless and since my son turned 18, I haven’t spoken to him.  I have no reason to, my son is an adult and he chooses who he has contact with.  If they remain estranged, it in on my ex, because I told him when we split not to be my father, who was the absolute reason punitive dead beat dad laws exist.
I dredge up these old hurts for a reason. So that people with a disabled family member can see how much hurt indifference causes.  It is difficult enough to parent a child like mine in this world without having the support network you relied on your whole life fail you.  Learn from their mistakes.
Listen to the parents, we want you to interact with our children and we will tell you how and then you’ll show us new things about them we didn’t know.  The world is a better place for people like my son and as my husband proved, if you meet them at their level and don’t try to change who they are, you will find out how wonderful they are to have in your life.
So leave your expectations at the door, make yourself a safe person for that family member and learn something new about yourself in the process.  It doesn’t have to be big, even a simple interaction at a family event goes a long way to making life easier for the disabled person and their parents.
Okay, rambly emotional essay over.  This goes for everybody, but especially family members who are disabled (mentally, psychologically, physically), love people for who they are, not who you want them to be.

Beacon Pines
Developed by Hiding Spot Games
Published by Fellow Traveller
Release Date 2022
Tested on Xbox Series X
MSRP 19,99 USD
youtube
A warm fireplace, hot cocoa in your cusps, a blanket over your shoulders, listening to a child’s story (that is fitting to an older audience as much as well) and journeying in the adventure.
Beacon Pines turned out to be an excellent visual story-telling game that I wasn’t expecting at the beginning. The story itself, the narrator, the characters, the universe built, game mechanics and every little detail are so consistently good that this game deserves more appreciation and recognition than it gets currently.
Tumblr media
Let’s get into it, what is Beacon Pines about? The story is as follow, we roleplay as Luka, a young boy who lost his father 6 years and whose mother has been missing for some time and his grandmother returns to the town in the absence of his parents, to uncover deep secrets and ongoings of our hometown, Beacon Pines, with our buddies, Rollo and Beck.
Tumblr media
The game starts from get-go with a storybook opening, and we find ourselves in the midst of everything. The flow of the game is set by the storyteller, the third person narrator of the game, who is also the author of the story as we go. At the beginning I inaccurately thought that this game would be more suitable for a young audience rather than a player such as me, but I was wrong. There’s a fine balance in the storytelling, it can cater to both children and adults, after a couple of minutes I was in love with the storyteller, the way she handles voice acting is superb. During the game, we are going back and forth between the book and the actual scene, for example when a chapter ends, or we bump into an ending.
I was a bit let down to see that only the narrator has voice acting. It’d be great if the characters were voiced as well. I guess that way it would be easier to play the game with children, who would prefer listening to characters to reading lines, I guess.
Tumblr media
The visual- and artistic-style the game is equipped with is another topic I would like to touch upon. As I previously mentioned, the game is presented as a storybook  and the graphics match this tone to the core. This is really a fresh breath in a time where every developer tries to create ultra-realistic graphics to show off.
The game consists of two easy-to-understand game mechanics. In fact, the narrator guides you how to use and when you are going to use them. There are “Charms” and “Chronicle”.
Tumblr media
“Charms” is made of numerous key words you come across during the game, such as Break, Fight, Flight, Shit, Hide etc.
“Chronicle” is when you have to go back to a previous chapter and make changes to move forward, for instance you encounter dead-ends in various chapters such as being caught by evil people and you are forced go back to a previous chapter and make a different decision, for example changing “Fight” to “Flight”, from that moment on, you keep playing the game with that alternative decision. It is not like the game forces you to go back and pick a different decision and continue playing, it is so well-built into the game’s flow that you experience the story from different angles.
You can check the charms from below:
youtube
Also, you can check the “Chronicle” from below, in this specific scene we are caught by the enemies and the story ‘ends’, and we go back in time and change a Charm and keep going onwards:
youtube
Consequently, Beacon Pines is worth the approximate 6-hour walkthrough, throughout the game, you will be sentimental and emotional with Luka, Rollo and Beck beside you.

Its sad so many people's first exposure to Alita is gonna be that movie, for a variety of reasons.
In particularly because it tries to cram several points of the title characters various personality eras into one character.
The original Battle Angel Alita Manga is frankly one of the best Sci-Fi pieces of fiction ever made, nevermind manga's.
And one of the mayor reasons why it is so good, isn't just the very detailed and intricate setting, the very good and instantly striking action scenes, or the artwork of a mangaka at his prime.
All of those are great, but what makes Alita so good, is the main character herself. Alita. Alita is in my opinion the single most dynamic, and ever developing character in manga history.
And the reason she is, is because throughout the entire story, she is a character who develops drastically between every single mayor moment in her life.
The best way to illustrate this is that Alita before Hugo's death, and post it, is a completely different person than she was at the start of the manga.
She was an innocent at heart kid, who tried to be this great fighter for justice and all that jazz, all the while struggling with the fact that as a cyborg she is never really going to be able to truly cut loose and show Hugo how passionately she feels about him, because she would rip him to pieces if she did.
She feels imperfect and ugly because her body is not made for love(her own words). That alone is so much more interesting than what the film did with the usual "do you think im pretty even though im a robot?".
Also, in the manga she doesn't actually come out and say this directly to Hugo, because that isn't how any shy, smitten, teenage girl would talk about their deepest insecurities to their crush.
Instead she has a talk with her dad about it, her only real parental figure, who's job it is to guide her in life.
Also, speaking of Hugo, the movie REALLY didn't get his and Alita's story.
The movie focused way too much about making him likable, than what the actual story was supposed to be. In the manga, as he loses it at the end and tries to climb up to Zalem, the reader REALLY buys that he's completely lost it, because the manga took the time to fully flesh him out, why his is the way he is, how he reached the point he did, and more importantly it sells his insane breakdown way better, and at the end as he lies on the cable and just monologs about how the world never cared about him at all, you really feel the emotion in his voice as he acknowledges that his entire existence is a giant joke.
Which in turn is what the entire romance between him and Alita have been building towards, as she tells him that there is more to the world than the Scrapyard and Salem, and then pleads that SHE cares about him, and to make a new life with her.
Its an actual touching moment that builds on what the arc set up, and is GUNNM's world in a nutshell. It's a rusty relationship between a smitten girl, and a scoundrel dreamer who frankly is not the best person in the world. But it's pure, it's honest, it's powerful, and it really makes you believe it as Hugo finally opens his eyes that he had someone with him who truly cared about him all along.
Which in turn makes the automatic grid coming down so much more gutpunching. Also im just going to say it, the cinematography of the movie vs manga is dreadful.
And probably best of all, this moment isn't just the end of a story arc. It is arguably the most impactful character momemt Alita has, as her first boyfriend dying is the single most traumatic thing that happens to her in the original manga. It completely shattered her optimism, and sense of wanting to be a great hero, and even after she starts to mentally recover, she never really regains that sense of innocence or optimism about life back again after this.
So many stories use the trope "forgotten fallen friend" trope, where characters stop focusing on their fallen friends and loved one if it conflicts with their established character traits.
Not alita. Though she doesn't openly say it, it is extremely clear that even 10 years after his death, and after having found a second love, she is still mourning his death.
And the entire manga is like that. After the first two storylines, Alita is a very different character after every single arc, because similar life-changing developments happens to her in every one, and you understand why she is the way she is at any point in time.
Compared to the movie, where Alita is pretty much a mixture between different eras of herself from various manga arcs. Which is far less compelling.
Also, the world in general is way too sanitized. Its not just Hugo, Ido starts off as very unhealthy in the way he views Alita, but has some character development where his relationship with Alita changes a lot, and despite generally trying to be a good dad, it's not before 4-5 volumes in that it really hits it's stride as a healthy, father/daughter relationship.
The junkyard is way too clean and not run down enough, Motorball isn't portrayed as a complete bloodsport from start to finish, Salem's design is a massive downgrade from the manga, and A lot of the hilarious dark comedy mixed with adorable, innocent alita moments was not kept.
All in all, i could not recommend the manga highly enough. Especially since you're a Fullmetal fan. It's pretty clear that the mangaka behind FMA is a BIG fan of Alita, both art and storytellingwise.
Interesting. I can't deny that the movie tossed out some interesting ideas and scenarios, even if they largely fell flat due to being compressed and remixed, so I can buy that the original really ran with its material. Something had to have intrigued James Cameron for 30 years. XD My library only has the first two volumes of the manga, but that should be enough for a sample. I admit, I do rather like stories about robots trying/wanting to be human, so if it a good level of quality, I'll probably enjoy it.
It's funny you also say the movie didn't live up to the look of the manga, because one of the things that struck me about the movie was the the general look did strike me as being 'anime' in style (as opposed to a more generic scifi look or the super-common Bladerunner homage), but that might be more about copying certain designs than the final overall appearance. And, of course, that speaks nothing to the fidelity to the source material, just my general impression of anime stylings.
Your follow-up Ask is answered below the cut:
of course as usual it cant be as simple as recommending something though, because there is a caveat to Alita as a series.
Namely that the manga franchise is essentially separated into three different sections.
The original Alita, Last Order, and Mars Chronicles.
And i can tell you right out, you would HATE last order. like, EVERYTHING bad about shonen series that i can tell you despise is in Last order. It does have some wonderful world building and story ideas, but overall, whereas the original manga was a very meticulously and deep look into the human condition, Last Order is stupid fun shonen.
Some people like that, and i might have as well... if it wasn't for the fact that it does not fit in with the original manga at all. I don't know what happened, whether it was the editor not reigning him in, or the magazine wanting him to get bigger and more bombastic, always topping what had come before, but Last Order is pretty much completely removed from everything that made the original great.
And in hindsight, it's clear that the mangaka recognized what a terrible mistake Last order was, because when he came back to finish the series in the final installment, he pretty much expunged 99% of everything from last order, and reset the feeling of the franchise back to what the original manga had.
if it weren't for some key details from last order's plot, and the larger questions of how the hell alita went from one place to another, it would pretty much just be a complete reboot.
So under normal circumstances i would tell you to just skip Last Order, and skip straight to Mars chronicles.
However, that isn't quite the case, because the original Alita actually had an ending. and not an open ending where the story could go on either. it was a decisive, satisfying ending that bookended alita's entire storyline and put the kebash on future action adventures for her.
It was such a decisive ending in fact, that in order for there to be a story, Last order had to essentially retcon/reimagine the last 3 chapters of the original story, thus derailing a perfectly happy ending that wrapped up Alita's struggles and journey where she finally got the one thing she always truly wanted and searched for at the end of it all.
As such my advice if you do pick up the series, End your read at the final chapter of the original manga. While the mangaka had plans to continue it past that point(he was forced to end it early due to life threatening illness), In the end, the product that was made was thematically the ending the original had been building towards.
I don't know how mars chronicle is going to end(its still running) but due to several developments in Last Order, it simply is impossible for the story to end on the same notes and themes it originally did. meaning its probably going to remain the superior ending.
Amusingly, you actually made me want to try Last Order. XD I mean, you're probably right that I won't enjoy it due to its shonen nature, and I might even find it more grating than One Piece, but I have to really respect that it doesn't position itself as an in-continuity sequel to the original. We have so many things in our current pop-culture like the AtLA comics, Puella Magi Madoka Magica Rebellion, the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Robocop 2, most Marvel and DC comics, etc, that try to justify themselves by undoing the satisfying endings of the originals. Sure, we can ignore that kind of thing out-of-universe, but for those of us invested in the stories and characters, it can sometimes be a very difficult mental leap to 'unhappen' stuff we don't like when their events don't actually contradict the original (no matter how thematically contradictory they are). But Alita's sequel positions itself right off the bat as a What If scenario, an alternate timeline, something incompatible with the original from an in-universe perspective.
Basically, I like that it respects the original enough to leave it alone. If you want more Alita, Last Order is there, but not at the expense of the original, and if you found the original perfectly satisfying, Last Order isn't trying to claim to be an extension. And yet, at the same time, neither is it a traditional reboot. You don't have to start over with it.
Even if I wind up rolling my eyes at it and tapping out at the first oversized fight sequence, at least it does one thing right. And yeah, that's probably the only notable aspect of it, but that's not bad for a sequel.
So thanks for the warning, and the intriguing insight into one sequel that at least cleans up its own mess! XD

I've been going back and forth about posting this.. But this is my safe space so here goes…
October 16th left a big gaping hole in my chest. I can't explain it. How do you justify grieving a person you've never met? How can you say it feels like the world has stopped around me? I keep feeling this immense amount of guilt. Because I can only imagine how his family and those who truly knee him must feel. Its been almost two months and my brain still can't prosses it. Even though my heart isn't as heavy and the tears have somehow all dried up it still feels empty. How do you mourn someone you knew but didn't really know? Liam Payne was a cute young boy in a band I loved. A band of five boys I will always love. I felt ashamed to love them when I was younger. Because of the people I was around I felt like my obsession with various different boy bands or music in general was something to be ashamed of. I wish I hadn't I wish I had begged more or found a way to see them. Even when Liam started having solo shows I kept telling myself “oh well one day I'll get tickets.” oh how I wish I wouldn't have listened to myself. I wish I could have seen him. Met him. Told him just how much he meant to me. How much he'd changed me for the better. But now I am left with guilt and grief that one of my favorite people in the world is gone. I didn't know him personally but through his music I got to know him, I got to see his smile and hear laugh as he grew into an adult. I can't bring myself to truly believe that he gone but even as I go through the motions every week that passes. I can still feel it I can feel the hole that he left in the world. A hole that is only there because whatever god there is called him home. I have to believe that he's in a good place. That his loved ones, his parents, his sisters, his son, and the boys will see him again. Since he has been gone I've had a birthday and I didn't really know how to act. I wanted to be happy but it didn't feel normal to have that day be happy.. Its like the isn't as bright, like hope is somehow lost. All I know is now I miss someone I never met. I never thought I would have to handle one of them being gone. I still find myself crying at random times; mostly at night when I think about him or see videos of him. I can't help but be consumed with wanting to know what happened. For the sake of his loved ones they will get the truth. I know I will miss him; someone I've never met. For the rest of my life.
Rest in peace Payno we will miss you forever 🕊️❤️💜
