It is so cruel to say “surrender or starve”, as if Palestinians have been doing anything but starving for months now. More than an year of genocide, and the occupation keeps getting away with both massacring and starving Gazans, while the world hems and haws, and does nothing. So, we do not have any time to waste here; what is happening in North Gaza is insane, and Ola’s family is in urgent need of your help right at this moment!! I will keep this short:
Ola is only 26 years old, and her life has been completely destroyed in this genocide. Where before she was a brilliant student of mathematics and dreamt of having a career in the field, now she spends her days trying to find food and escape death.
As the eldest daughter, it has fallen on her to ensure that her family of SEVEN survives through this genocide.
The condition of North Gaza is terrible: there is a famine and the cost of living is tremendously high. Many of the family members have started to show signs of malnutrition, with Ola herself having fallen dangerously underweight.
With barely anything to eat, exhaustion weighs on her daily and yet she walks miles to get an internet connection to campaign for her family. This is becoming more and more dangerous now, when the occupation forces have started to bomb the north of Gaza.
This is extremely urgent, as 200 Gazans have been murdered by the occupation forces recently. In this bout of indiscriminate bombing all across the North of Gaza, the IOF are specifically targeting camps and the remaining shelters - mass displacement is imminent and no one knows what is going to happen with winter looming ahead. Food and other resources will be stretched thin even more and the prices will go up to unprecedented heights which Ola's family won’t be able to afford without immediate donations. So please DONATE and BOOST. The fundraiser has been stagnating and there has been no donations for up to 9 hours straight.
Currently at $56,690 USD. Let us help Ola raise at least 1k. Please treat this as an emergency

The One with Shaved Legs
Eddie walks into Steve and Robin’s apartment, planning on asking if can borrow a charge since Nancy has banned him from borrowing hers. But instead, he’s stood there staring at them with a hand on the door handle.
“Oh, hey Eddie,” Steve waves a greet as if what’s happening is completely normal.
“If you’re going to ask for a charger, the answer is no. Nancy already told me you’re blacklisted.”
Eddie opens his mouth to say something, closing it and reopening it a few times. “I’m sorry, what are you doing?”
What they are doing, in question, has Steve with his leg on a chair, wearing the shortest shorts known to man, with shaving cream rubbed all over his leg. Robin is standing next to him with a razor, delicately shaving the hair off.
“Yeah that. Robin’s shaving my leg,” Steve rolls his eyes.
“Yeah,” Eddie says, finally able to step into the apartment. “But why?”
Robin stand upright, rising the razor off in a bowl and glaring at Steve. “Do you want to tell him why or should I?”
“I didn’t know, ok I didn’t know. How was I supposed to know?”
“Did he not show up to parent teacher conference?”
“Fuck he did, I forgot.” Steve runs his hands over his face, mortified.
Eddie clears his throat. “Explanation, please. Clue in the person not connected to your weird twin telepathy thing that you have.”
“Steve’s on a sex ban,” Robin informs. “He slept with one of his student’s parents, again.”
“Divorced,” Steve clarified, “I knew that much. And he was very hot, could you blame me?”
“Yes, always.”
“How hot?” Eddie asks.
Steve reaches for his phone on the counter and almost falls over in the process, swiping through his phone to pull up the guys dating profile.
Eddie takes it and stares at it. “Yeah, very hot. Not for me, but I can see why you went for it.”
“Thank you.”
Nancy walks into the apartment. “Oh, there you are Eddie.” She takes one look at what’s happening and immediately gives Steve a deadpanned look. “Sex ban again, seriously, Steve.”
And because the timing couldn’t be more perfect, Jonathan and Argyle show up and walk into the apartment unphased.
“I forgot, ok. I wouldn’t have slept with the guy if I knew.”
“Parent again?” Jonathan asks while already knowing the answer.
“Wait, how many times has this happened?”
“Too many,” Nancy says annoyed. “The first time was in college when he slept with the TA to get a better grade.”
“That was not why, it was not grade motivated,” Steve depends.
Nancy rolls her eyes. “Either way, he got a weird grade boost so we invented the sex ban.”
“It happens like once every year or so,” Jonathan fills in.
Eddie crosses his arm, still confused. “How exactly is this a sex ban?”
“We only shave one leg,” Robin explains.
“Yeah, shaving both would do nothing, now I get so disgusted by the feeling of my legs rubbing together that I won’t want to sleep with anyone. I can do with both having hair, or both shaved, just not one with both.”
“Oh, yeah that makes sense.”
“I shave my legs all the time,” Argyle says unprompted.
Jonathan nods. “It’s true, he does.”
“I like how soft they get.”
“Very soft.”
“You’ve touched his bare leg to feel how soft it is,” Eddie questions.
Jonathan shrugs. “Hard not to when he does that thing where he shaves and then makes me feel how soft it is.”
“Because I want someone to appreciate it,” Argyle reasons.
“Just because I didn’t say anything doesn’t mean I didn’t appreciate it.”
Argyle rolls his eyes. “Well, you could have said it.”
“Your relationship still confuses me.”
Robin finishes the last stripe on Steve’s leg, swishing the razor in the bowl of water. “Done, go rinse it off.”
Steve brings his leg off the chair and walks to the bathroom with a wide stance, so he doesn’t get any of the shaving cream on his other leg. He comes out with a clean leg.
“You missed a spot.”
“Even better.”

Title: Please Love Me Drabble Bonus (10) - I want this so much.
WC: 12,663
Tags/Warnings: foul language; alcohol consumption; talks of pregnancy, explicit sexual content (kissing, dirty talk, fingering, breast play, overstimulation, oral (m & female receiving), straddling, unprotected penetrative sex), lots of fluff; Seven JK (18+)
Series Masterlist
A/N: Hi. I’m on a break from my indefinite break. Seven JK was a burst of inspiration (so were his WeLives bc dreamy househusband alert!) and PLM!JK definitely has reasons to f*ck his wife seven days a week. So please enjoy this fluff piece because it’s happening!💕
“Babe, is the curling iron still on?”
Your husband calls out from the walk-in closet behind you, and you yell out your yes as you place the item in question on the dresser, ruffling your hair up a bit and styling it as you wish.
You're so immersed in trying to figure out what look you want to go for that you don’t immediately notice Jungkook standing next to you, iron in hand as he curls the edges of his smooth locks. When your eyes flit to him, you’re momentarily hypnotized, your movements stopping for a few seconds before you’re able to regain your bearings and decide on a loose bun to match the low-back satin dress you have on.
“You okay there, babe?” Jungkook asks as he picks up on your silence, with you seemingly avoiding looking at him.
You nod in response and he smirks, feeling like he knows what’s got you acting like this. He’s known for a while that he affects you in a certain way; your trip to Busan not long ago reinforced that, given the way your body reacted to everything he did at your command. But still, knowing that he makes you flustered even with clothes on gives him that boost of confidence and that air of cockiness that he knows you adore.
“Are you sure?” He asks again, turning to look at you while you keep your eyes on the mirror.
You finally face him and release a deep sigh. “You look really good,” you admit, your cute little frown melting all the knots in his body.
“Why do you make it sound like it’s a bad thing?” He chuckles, flashing you that boyish smile that he also knows drives you wild.
“Because…” you start, your arms crossed now to establish some distance. “I’m gonna have to control myself around you and behave but that’s hard when you look… like that.”
“Who says you have to control yourself and behave? You’re my wife and you have my permission to keep your hands on me any time and you know, misbehave or something,” he cheekily responds, his smug face making you want to smack his chest and pull his hair out of lust and frustration.
“We’ll be in public, Kook!”
“Tae booked a private club, though.”
You frown at his teasing but it only urges your husband to tease even more.
“They also have private rooms so when you absolutely cannot help yourself, we can always get one and maybe I’ll let you put on a show for me. Or I can do that, it depends if you still have yourself together by then.”
“Kook! You’re not helping,” you pout, and much as he wants to keep going, he also just wants to wrap his arms around you and that’s what he does, pulling you close and softly smiling at you.
“I’m kidding. Sort of,” he chuckles. “But we can also just skip the party and stay in, you know? I’ll keep my clothes on until you take them off me, or until you ask me to, just like last time,” he smirks now. “And we can just do whatever we want. You won’t have to worry about controlling yourself or anything.”
“Tempting, but we did promise Taehyung that we’d come tonight,” you say, wrapping your arm around his neck while you fix the strands of his hair, knowing the style he wants to go for. “Opening an art gallery is kind of a big deal. And I am a featured artist in his collection so we absolutely have to be there.”
“I know,” Jungkook says. “I won’t hear the end of it if we skip it. But at least I’ve got a reason to swap the business wear for something different. And you know, fluster my wife because of it, make her speechless and tell me I look good.”
“Ah, is that what you expected to happen,” you arch an eyebrow, feeling called out because that’s definitely what happened.
He’s always been a little cocky but he’s amped it up recently and you’re not complaining; he has all the reasons to be. You know he knows that you love it when he is.
“Well, I actually expected you to be on my lap right now, marking me all over and moaning out curses,” he chuckles, his laughter increasing in volume as your face distorts in feigned annoyance once more. “But I guess the outfit isn’t sexy enough.”
“Now you’re just pushing it,” you playfully smack his chest. “You don’t even wear tight clothes like this. You always said they made you feel stuffy.”
Pulling away to fully absorb Jungkook’s look, you smack yourself internally for even attempting to take him all in, only because of all the scenarios playing in your head right now. And he’s right, being on his lap and claiming him as you cuss out your pleasure is what you would be doing if you weren’t running late. But you are, and acting out all your desires would have to wait.
“Well, since I married you, Mrs. Jeon, I’ve become quite the observant man,” he boasts. “I pick up on what turns you on and I use it to my advantage. You loved it when I had the sleeves of my white shirt rolled up and this is just the tight fit version of it.”
Much as you want to kiss him right now, you can’t help but soften at his words. He is observant, especially when it comes to things you like about him. You remember how he’d started buying colored and patterned tops after your honeymoon years ago because you said you liked them on him. Recently, you notice that he’s been wearing jeans for his casual wear a lot more now, and how he’s kept his hair the specific length that you once said you loved on him.
His best friends say that Jungkook was always just content on his monochromatic sweats and hoodies because they’re comfortable and don’t require much thinking when he decides to put them on, and so knowing that he keeps you in mind when he dresses up is quite sweet, especially knowing that he doesn’t really care what people say unless it’s you. And if you show that it’s something you like, Jungkook will definitely keep doing it to make you happy.
“And the leather pants?” You ask.
“Jimin suggested it, said it fits more with a plain white shirt than jeans for a club. Do you like it?” He wonders, looking anxious, as if there’s anything he wears that you don’t like. Maybe except for this one university shirt that has holes on them that he still wears.
“Of course I do, hun,” you say, wrapping your arms around his waist now. “You look like the sexiest, most beautiful man alive but I also don’t mind if you just wore whatever you wanted. You’ll look gorgeous either way.”
“Well, some people dress for themselves, and some people also don’t mind, like me. I’ll wear anything that’s comfortable, as long as it makes my wife happy.”
“But this outfit makes me horny though.”
Jungkook smirks before licking his lips, and right when you think he’s gonna kiss your mouth as he leans forward, he goes for your neck instead, sucking a bit of flesh before he trails upwards with soft pecks towards your ear.
“That’s better,” he whispers, sending shivers all over you that he definitely feels, earning you a teasing chuckle.
He turns to face you and sees the desire in your eyes, and he knows you’d both break eventually but still, he states, “I don’t wanna mess your lipstick, baby.”
“I don’t care,” you moan, feeling the wetness pool between your thighs now, and your words prompt Jungkook to crash his mouth against yours to taste the lust that’s expressed all over your body.
He tastes of mint cherry and yearning and smells of deep vanilla and ecstasy. His hands trail down to your ass that he ardently squeezes while yours travel towards his hair, the soft pulls eliciting moans from him, as your hips meet his thrusts the same way that your tongue battles against his, desperate and impassioned, your beings melding into one.
Time feels frozen as it’s just you and him. Until your phone starts ringing, incessantly, and it registers to you that it might be Nari, who you’d promised to pick up on the way to the club.
You pull away, telling your husband that you both have to go.
“Well, at least your lipstick’s not completely messed up,” he hums.
“Yeah, but my underwear is,” you groan, and it’s your pout and scurry towards your closet that lets Jungkook know that you’re serious. Your little make out session did turn you on and if it wasn’t for a disruption, maybe you would be on his lap right now just as he expected - more like dreamed.
“I take it back,” he states, walking towards the bathroom where you now are. “I think the outfit’s sexy enough, don’t you think?”
You enter the private club that Taehyung booked for the party and spot less familiar faces than the official opening of the art gallery earlier in the week. Given, tonight is specifically for the fashion and entertainment crowd, a strategic decision for him who wants to attract patrons other than the usual from the art and business fields. It’s a good way to make use of his family’s connections, and it’s also another means of exposing your work to a different audience.
It’s why Taehyung’s been excited to introduce you to the guests, making sure you meet all of them, as he goes around the space to greet them. You don’t mind, really. He has a great eye and a unique way of expressing and selling his art, and as he matches it to his target market, you find yourself learning from him, too. He even got one of them to commission you for a piece, someone who doesn’t mind waiting in line, given that you’ve been pacing your work due to health reasons.
Taehyung finally states that he now wants to get on with the actual party, so he heads to the bar to order some shots while you walk towards the table where your husband and all your friends are. You take the seat next to Jungkook who promptly looks at you with a cheeky smile on his face.
“Babe, why are you sitting there?”
“Where else would I sit?” You ask, sipping from a glass of water.
Jungkook spreads his arms and nods towards his lap, causing you to burst in laughter, although he doesn’t seem to find it all that funny.
“I won’t sit on your lap, honey,” you giggle. “I can do that at home.”
“Our friends won’t mind,” he huffs.
“I would,” you respond.
“He just wants to make a statement,” Jimin chimes in. “We can’t count how many girls have walked up to him asking if the seat - I mean, his lap - is taken. Why he’s even manspreading, we don’t know.”
You laugh along with your friends as you turn to your husband, as if asking him why he’s doing exactly that.
“I always had the image of men in leather pants sitting like this,” Jungkook answers. “I guess it fits the vibe.”
“Well, if you keep doing that, more women are gonna try their luck. And I can’t really blame them,” you say, moving your seat closer to him because suddenly, the idea of people hitting on your husband makes you just a little bit uneasy.
“And they’ll keep getting rejected. I don’t know why they think that line would work,” Jungkook rolls his eyes.
“Why did you think it would work on me?”
“Let’s just say, you have a track record,” he smirks at you. “And don’t think I’ve forgotten how just kissing me affected you earlier. Oh baby, you have it bad for me,” he whispers now.
You’d be annoyed at him if he wasn’t right, but of course he is. It’s the boyish charm and effortless sexiness that get you all the time, and that’s on top of all the other things that make him an amazing husband and lover.
His wiggling eyebrows let you know that he’s teasing, and your scrunched nose tells him you’re enjoying it.
But even then, he pulls you close and softly kisses your cheek. “And I’ve got it bad for you, too, baby. I’ll do whatever you want tonight, just tell me.”
“What about a message and cuddles?” You release a deep breath. “Meeting the guests tired me a bit.”
“Then I’ll do that. We can have a bath together and sleep in, too. Does that sound good?”
You nod in response, smiling at the thought that despite your incessant teasing, you and Jungkook could edge each other with your flirting but also wouldn’t mind if one of you decides for something soft and wholesome instead. It’s not so much self-control as it is the way your relationship has come to work - sure, sex is always good; you’d push each other’s buttons for fun or even as foreplay, but pillow talk while your limbs are entangled under the sheets are just as amazing. You’ve learned that every intimate moment with him is special as it happens; you could only hope it’s an aspect of your marriage that won’t ever change.
Your moment is disrupted when Taehyung arrives with a server and a tray of shots, with him insisting that each person has to take one. You give in even if you hadn’t planned on drinking at all, but when you say that’s all you’ll have for the rest of the night, none of your friends question you. They know you and Jungkook are actively trying to get pregnant, and consuming alcohol does affect that, so they let you be. Jungkook orders a glass of juice right after though, but you don’t question him, even if you’d expected that he’d go for another round or at least a bottle of beer.
As the host that he is, Taehyung urges everyone to get on the dance floor, the alcohol now kicking in after the rest of your friends downed more shots.
“We’re good here,” Jungkook says. “You tired my wife a little over there.”
“Nah, we all know you’re the only one who can do that,” Taehyung wiggles his eyebrows, his lack of filter causing you and your husband to just laugh.
“I’m okay, Kook,” you say, reaching out your hand for him to take. “I’d be silly not to dance with you looking like this. Plus, didn’t you want to make a statement that you’re taken or something?” You laugh.
“I do, actually,” he smirks, leading you to the dance floor where your friends have gathered. “But I’d also be silly not to dance with you looking like this,” he continues, running his hand down your bare back until it sits right on your ass. He squeezes it a little before holding you by the waist, swaying them in tandem with your hips as you dance to the music.
You’ve got your hands around his neck and your eyes locked on his, his smile turning more sultry as the seconds tick by. You feel him grind against you and you welcome the friction, as you find yourself lost in the sounds and the weight of his stare.
“Nothing like a song about fucking everyday to get us in the mood, huh,” he whispers in your ear, his fingers gripping your dress to control himself.
“Good thing we’re married and can do that, then,” you whisper back. “But that would also be incredibly tiring.”
Jungkook laughs. Much as he knows it’s something that his amazing stamina would allow him to do, he also knows that’s too much for you. But he’d never complain. Anything with you is enough; being with you is enough. Falling asleep with you is all that he wants, even during that rare time when he was upset. He’s learned that when it comes to you, no distance is farther than when he’s not next to you; he’d take any pain on either of your ends, as long as he has you by his side.
He’s overcome with emotion at the thought, so he doesn’t control himself when the urge to kiss you takes over him and you let him, capturing his lips for something gentle and languid. He feels you smile against him and he does the same, knowing that amidst the lust and intense yearning, the softness will remain. It’s why he pulls away first and envelopes you in a hug, finding purchase in your neck as he calms his raising heart and hardening cock that were caused by your impassioned movements.
He hears you giggle as you hug him tight and his heart softens now, savoring that sound even more because he was without it for weeks at one point. He’s also learned that days without your laugh and your smile are the hardest; he knows he’ll be lost in this world without them.
You pull away now and kiss his cheek this time, and you feel him smile again at the action. With all his cheekiness, Jungkook is everything that is love at his core. He gives and takes as he should, and it may seem odd that such thoughts are what’s swirling in your mind as you’re both dancing together at a club with people making out and grinding against each other around you, but you’ve come to learn that regardless of happening outside or inside of you, he’s the only one you want to share your little world with.
He takes your hand and leads you back to your table where your friends gather shortly after. He orders coffee while you settle for tea, knowing you’d be too tired to make one before you sleep. It’s more laughter and dancing in your seats for another hour or so before you and Jungkook decide to head home as guests start to leave as well.
You didn’t expect to be out until 2AM but you kept thinking that one day, you’ll be too old for this; one day, you’ll have kids to care for that you won’t have much time for nights out with your friends. You savor what you’re able to as a young married couple before children get in the picture, and as you watch Jungkook in the driver seat with his tattooed arm on the steering wheel, humming to the music while saying that he had a great time, you assume that he thinks the same way.
“Yeah, tonight was fun,” you muse. “We let go of ourselves a little bit and that was nice.”
“It was. You had your hands on me for most of the night so that was good,” he teases.
“I had to make a statement myself. Don’t think I didn’t see those two women who kept eyeing you and constantly passing by our table,” you huff.
“I didn’t even notice,” he hums. “I was too busy looking at you. But was that really it? You were just letting them know that I’m your man and they have no chance?”
“Of course not,” you giggle, taking his free hand and kissing it. “This look is really doing something to me. Maybe I’ll start asking you to wear this at home or something.”
Jungkook laughs at your words, his head briefly rolling back before he turns to you with his scrunched nose. “I wouldn’t mind that, actually.”
There’s a moment of silence, with you caressing his hand that’s found its place on your bare thigh, before you comment that he didn’t drink much tonight, knowing that their trio of best friends enjoy their alcohol when they’re out to party.
“I could’ve driven us back home, you know?” You say. “We haven’t gone out like this in a while so it would’ve been okay if you drank.”
“Yeah but… we’re trying to get pregnant and the doctor said that alcohol consumption affects sperm health, too,” he responds, his eyes looking soft as he glances at you. “I don’t want you to be the only one cutting back on things because we’re doing this together. I mean, that cup of coffee back there was only my second one of the day. I’ve been trying to limit myself to just two a day as well since I know you’re drinking less, and I survived the week.”
“Honey…” you say, your heart melting at the thought of him making sure that you’re not doing this all on your own.
This is just the trying phase, and if he’s committed to the pregnancy this early on, you can just imagine how present and supportive he’ll be when you do get pregnant. He’ll make sure you’re not the only one making sacrifices, and he’ll make sure to give you as much comfort and support as possible.
“And also, I’m gonna have to change my lifestyle eventually for, you know, when we have our child,” he continues. “I can’t be going out, drinking, and then driving because who knows what could happen? Plus, I don’t wanna kiss our baby with alcohol breath when I get home. And I—”
“Kook, you can still do the things you used to do even when we have a child,” you interrupt. “I mean, you can still party and drink and—”
“I can’t be reckless, though, and that’s what I was for a long time,” he counters. “I was also pretty selfish and always wanted things my way. Being with you changed that and yeah, parenthood will change me, but I should at least be good enough to begin with.”
“And you are, honey; more than enough, actually. I mean, we’ve been to the doctor twice and you already took what she said to heart,” you assure him. “I just know you’re gonna be great, okay? And this is my unfiltered mind speaking but I’m kinda excited to get pregnant because of how sweet and loving and… hot you’re gonna be when you take care of me.”
It’s that laugh again, his playful and endearing laughter that triggers the butterflies in your stomach. Jungkook’s eyes sparkle under the dim streetlights that you pass by, and the way he looks at you makes you feel like everything good is at your reach while it’s just the two of you in your own world.
“I’m excited for you to get pregnant because of how loving and needy and strong and fucking sexy you’re gonna be,” he says, earning him a chuckle. “But all that aside, I just want you to know that you have me. I’m obviously here for the actual baby-making but also for the massages and cravings and morning sickness and swollen everything, okay? I promise.”
“You are such a dream, Jeon Jungkook,” you giggle as you gaze at him lovingly. “I’d live through a thousand lifetimes just so I can have this one where I married you.”
He’s left speechless now, as he softly smiles and leans over at the stoplight for a gentle kiss on your lips. You think it’s enough for him to say all the things he can’t, and you kiss him back, a little more deeply, to say the things you still don’t have words for.
The rest of the ride back home is quiet, save for Jungkook’s humming along to the songs on his playlist. You’re both giggling over something silly that happened earlier by the time you’re walking back to the apartment, and taking advantage of the late hours and the empty elevators, your husband softly kisses your neck with his arms wrapped around your waist all the way to your floor. You sigh in relief; his lips are as good as his hands when it comes to relieving your tiredness.
There were some issues you encountered in your project at the firm that you had to manage, on top of helping Taehyung with his art gallery launch. Teaching the kids is not really stressful, but handling classes of 10 children each has its own challenges. You know your body and you’re perfectly fine, which is why you didn’t mind staying up late with your friends tonight. You’d missed out on a few nights out because you opted to rest, but tonight was too important to pass up on. But still, it left you just a tiny bit exhausted and you can’t wait for your warm bath and cuddles with Jungkook.
You pause on the idea once your phone beeps and a notification pops up. Suddenly your heart is racing, and you’re left standing in the middle of your living room as Jungkook turns off the lights and says that he’ll massage you as you both take your bath.
Seeing you unmoving when he expected you to be walking up the stairs, he asks if everything’s okay.
“Yeah, it’s just…” you say, turning to him with a small smile on your face. “I just got notified. My, uh, my tracker says I ovulate in a few days so, uh… My fertile window starts now.”
It takes a few seconds for Jungkook to process the information and once it clicks, he walks towards you and mirrors your smile.
Dr. Han explained in detail how things go, and Jungkook remembers that in non-technical words, having sex during your fertile window is the best way to get pregnant, and since everything is an estimate and no means of tracking can be entirely accurate, what he he really took from that session is that having sex everyday increases your chance of conceiving. The thought turns his soft smile into a smirk, and with his eyes boring into yours, he repeats your words.
“Your window starts now,” he says, earning him a nod. “I’m fertile, too,” he adds.
You chuckle at his statement. “I know, Kook. Of course you are,” you playfully roll your eyes.
But his gaze doesn’t falter, as he cups your cheek and takes you in.
“Do you think the bath and massage can wait?” He asks, his voice suddenly low.
“They can,” you respond, feeling your throat drying up.
“You’re not too tired?”
“Not anymore,” you answer, melting into his touch, especially as his breath starts to quicken.
“Good,” he breathes out, his mouth so close to yours.
Your noses touch before you feel his lips, soft yet wanting at the thought of being able to make love to you tonight, knowing there’s a chance that it could result in a baby that you’ve both been wanting. You grant him the entrance that he seeks, and he’s quick to explore as your tongue melds with his. He’s intentional, with both his hands cradling your face, wanting to say so much with this kiss. You return it just as eagerly, and your hands do what they’ve been wanting to since earlier in the night - they slide down his clothed chest, and then his torso, until they reach his crotch where you palm his hardening dick, letting him know that you want this just as much.
He moves to place open-mouth kisses down your neck, and you moan when he sucks that sensitive part of yours at the same time that you squeeze his length, earning you a groan that sends shivers down your spine.
“Can I claim my seat now,” you tease, wanting nothing more than to ride him until you lose your breath, knowing just how much pleasure that position gives you both.
“Fuck yes, babe,” he growls, kissing you again as he starts walking back, letting you guide him towards the couch that’s experienced its fair share of your lovemaking.
He pulls away to settle on his seat, his eyes not moving away from you as he asks you to undress yourself, leaving you in nothing but your silk thong.
With his legs spread slightly wide, the leather material hugging his thick, meaty thighs, and his arms laid over the back of the couch, you can’t help but moan at the sight. Your seat looks pretty comfortable, even more so when he unzips his trousers to reveal his hardened length, big and veiny for you to slide against and down on.
He’s coaxing you, as he touches himself to get you to come closer, knowing just how much this turns you on. You surprise him, though, when you get on your knees instead and take his cock from his hand, as if showing him that you can do it better. And of course you do; your touch electrifies him, it makes him weak and pliant, it makes him give in to whatever you want. He’s a generally impatient guy, but when it comes to you, he forces himself to have self-control, to wait, to let you take your time, only because he knows how satisfying it is once you give him what he craves.
A few gentle and teasing strokes later, you take him in your mouth and you surprise him again, as you dive in and take him deep right away, unlike your usual gradual descent that’s every bit torturous and euphoric. He’s caught off guard but it’s what causes him to obscenely moan, prompting you to do the same, the vibrations sending him close to the edge. But you keep going, bopping your head up and down as you try to fit him in your mouth, and Jungkook has to gather all his strength to not falter this quickly. There’s so many other ways he wants to feel you.
Knowing he’ll come soon if you don’t stop, he cups your cheek to get your attention. The loving way you look at him is a contrast to how ruined he feels, and just as he thinks you’d chase his finger with your mouth and suck it as well, you kiss his hand instead, tracing your lips up to his tattooed arm and it’s moments like this that make him feel alive. He’s always loved chasing a high, living for the thrill and the unexpected that pushes him to try different things, and he’s somehow found that when making love to you. You could look at him shyly, reverently, or sultrily; you can lick your lips or say vulgar things or giggle sweetly - he won’t know what he’ll get, but he’ll lose his mind either way.
Wanting to satiate his need, he finally pulls you to sit on his lap, capturing your mouth in his that leaves no room for either of you to breathe. Flushed against his clothed chest, you wrap your arms around his neck to try to take in as much of him as you can. You grind against his throbbing cock, and the friction isn’t enough, as you raise yourself to slide down on him, and your joint moans fill the room.
It starts slow but you eventually pick up the pace, and it prompts him to remove his trousers that are now definitely limiting his movements. Once he’s free, he focuses on what he can give. Jungkook pulls you down as he pushes inside of you, the quick and erratic thrusts sending you in a whole other dimension. You’re meeting his movements, your pants turning into squeals as you feel him so deep inside you, hitting the edges of your physical being.
You lose it when he grips your ass to keep you in place and then captures your breast in his mouth for him to suck. You feel the pleasure all over your body; it’s overwhelming and all-consuming - you feel him everywhere, and it’s exactly how you want to be made love to.
It’s the succeeding thrusts and the bite of the sensitive part of your neck that has you mewling and arching your back in intense pleasure and you feel like you’ve lost sense for a moment, as if you’re suspended with how deep and rough he’d gone. It’s almost numbing, as you continue to grind against him as you try to catch your breath but despite the overstimulation, you can’t get enough of it, of him. You came hard but you want more.
You kiss him as you come down from your high and he takes you in, moaning as your mouths meet again. It’s different this time, though - the kiss is desperate, it feels like; there’s the usual passion but a different kind of yearning, of eagerness. Devotion, too, it seems - towards you, towards the future child you’ll have, towards the family you’ll build - as he caresses your back, his hands gliding on your skin before clutching onto you, as if he’ll lose you if he doesn’t.
“I love you,” he mumbles against your neck, repeating it like a chant that devotees do to a being they revere. “I love you, fuck baby. I love all of you.”
“I love you, Kook, so much,” you pant, hugging him loosely, as it’s the only thing you have energy to do at this moment.
His arms are wrapped around your waist and he leans to kiss you there, his mouth seemingly unable to separate from any part of you.
You meet his eyes and you just know that you mirror the way he’s fondly looking at you. Jungkook boops your nose before he gently lays you on the couch, his eyes unmoving from your form as he kneels before you to remove his shirt, his perfectly-crafted torso making you salivate even more.
Spreading your legs, he dives in your cunt, licking your lips before he sucks your clit. You still haven’t recovered from earlier but you don’t mind. You’re still somewhat in a daze, and everything Jungkook does is both mind blowing and calming, intense yet numbing. Your leg starts to shake so he stops but you don’t complain. Just like him it seems, you want this drawn out.
“I want you inside me, baby,” you moan. “I want… I want to feel you all over me again. Please,” you beg. “I need you.”
The way you plead does things to him, so he lays by your side, slides inside you from behind, and takes you into his hold. With your body shifted and your legs raised, he cups your breast and sucks on your neck, as if cradling you while making you feel all of him - his mouth, his dick, his fingers… He’s thrusting against you so hard that you’re screaming in pleasure, asking him not to stop, and moaning out his name. You lose control of your limbs and you feel like your body now has a mind of its own but his kiss grounds you, and you hold onto him tightly for anchor as he does the same with you.
You come again - another hard crash - and he follows soon after, abrupt and drawn out that he feels like he’s suspended as well. He stays inside you, wanting to make sure that nothing of him is wasted.
You’re both panting from tiredness, your damp foreheads against each other, and it’s nothing but your warm breaths and slick bodies that you feel. You can’t really feel anything else, and that warm bath sounds good right about now.
Jungkook seems to read your mind, as he pulls away first and grabs your clothes. He reaches out his hand that you take, and he holds you close to him as you both walk up the stairs and into your bathroom.
You both don’t say much; the smiles and the soft kisses on the cheek seem to say enough. Maybe you’re just both really spent, but Jungkook exerting all that effort on you does not stop him from drawing your bath, sitting opposite you, and then massaging your feet and calves. He asks you to sit in between his legs right after so he can massage your shoulders, too, and the sigh you let out tells him you’re satisfied with his as well.
“That good, baby?” He still asks, and you lazily smile at him and nod.
“You might fall asleep here,” he chuckles, pulling you closer to him so he can nuzzle your neck.
“I wouldn’t mind that, as long as you sleep here with me,” you hum.
“Our tub is big but it isn’t that big,” he laughs again. “Come on, I’ll wash us up.”
You follow him and head to the shower where he promptly rinses the suds off your hair and your body. He’s gentle and thorough; charming, too, as his boyish smiles appear again when he sees you look satisfied. He helps you dress up before you both head to your room, your soft linens feeling like clouds after all that you did.
Jungkook goes under the covers and lays his head on your chest like he often does. Tired as you are, you don’t want to sleep yet, needing to have this moment with him first.
He’s rarely quiet, so when he is, you know something’s on his mind. You comb your fingers through his hair to calm him down; massaging him like this is also your way of letting him know that can say whatever he wants, and express whatever he wants.
“Do you think we did it?” He finally asks, sounding soft and unsure. “Do you think that was it?”
With his hand caressing your belly, you feel his anxiousness and his desire.
“I don’t know, honey,” you reply. “These things are never accurate. I’m just glad my cycle’s finally regular so at least I can better estimate when I’m due to ovulate and we can work from there. Maybe we did it. Maybe we didn’t. We won't know until I show symptoms and I take a test. And that’s weeks from now.”
The silence isn’t uncomfortable despite what seems to be a million things running through his mind. You’ve wanted this for so long but you’ve learned to be patient, to be trusting, to be accepting of whatever happens. You’d like to think that for all that you went through and for all the good that you’ve done in this life, the universe will grant you this wish. But you don’t want to think too much of how much you want it. You’re scared to be disappointed; more importantly, you’re scared to disappoint him.
“I want this so much,” he says, his voice low and desperate. “I… I knew I did but I didn’t know just how much until the other month when… when we had a false alarm.”
You recall that day. It was some time after you’d come back from Busan, the conversations from that trip perhaps clouding your mind, the excitement overtaking you that you’d thought you could be pregnant despite the minimal signs.
But you took the test anyway. It was negative, and Jungkook hugged you and said it was okay. You’d only gone to the doctor once that time, and you were both still adjusting and making changes in your respective lifestyles. He didn’t seem upset; he comforted you, cradled you that night, and made love to you softly as he whispered how perfect you are, and how much he loves you.
“I… I didn’t want to show it but it made me sad that it didn’t happen then,” he continues. “And I guess it hit me exactly how much I wanted it. To be able to create someone who’s half of the person I love the most and half of me… that’s amazing, right? I just suddenly couldn’t wait to give all my love to that child; I couldn’t wait for us to be gifted that.”
You’re unable to form words as you listen to him. It takes you back to the time when he didn’t want to have children yet, content with just the both of you and your little adventures and time alone. Jungkook wanted you all to himself, and he wanted him to be the only one you focused on. He’d hated himself for being selfish, but you suppose you both needed to have that time for each other - to learn, to love, to fight, to forgive, to trust, and then to love even harder, even braver, even kinder.
“It’ll happen, Kook,” is all you can say. “One day, it will. I’d like to believe that it’s meant for us, just as you and I were meant for each other after all these years.”
“I don’t want to think that I wasted so much of our time just because I wanted it to be just us,” he admits. “But sometimes, that fills my mind. What if we had tried earlier?”
“Do you think that helps? Thinking of the what if’s?”
“I know it doesn’t,” he responds. “But I guess the fear pushes me somehow, you know? I could be living a different life where I don’t have all this, and so I want to make sure that I take care of all that I have now - you, this marriage, this home. It’s ironic that I’ve always wanted to live my life without fear, only to realize now that fears could be good, too, that having something you’re afraid of means you’re actually living, because then, something’s good enough to lose.”
“And that something is so good that you can’t not have it,” you add.
He looks up at you with an assuring smile, knowing that you feel what he’s feeling, that you understand what’s bothering him.
“I worry, too,” you continue. “I knew when I’d fallen in love with you that I wanted a family, to have a child that bears both of us, you know? Someone who can receive the overflowing love I have for you. And not having that scares me.”
With your words, Jungkook shifts himself to face you, cradling you in his arms and kissing your forehead.
“You see what you did right there?” You ask him.
“What?”
“I tell you I’m scared, and the first thing you do is hold me,” you say, feeling the emotions overtake you. “We’re each other’s fears. I’m afraid to lose you. I worry when you’re in pain or stressed or confused or unwell. And I know it’s the same with you. But we’re each other’s shields, too. We protect each other, we gain strength from each other. That’s how we’ll get through this. That’s how we’ll get through anything. I’ll hold you when you’re scared and you’ll take me in your arms just the same. The fears are bearable that way.”
“They are,” he whispers, kissing you deeply. “We’re all we need, baby. You’re all I need.”
With your entangled limbs under the covers, you and Jungkook breathe each other in.
“I don’t know if we were successful tonight,” you hum, slowly succumbing to sleep. “We can always try again tomorrow.”
“And the day after. And the day after that. And then after that,” he responds, his cheeky smile making a sleepy appearance. “We can try everyday. We’ll make it happen; we’ll hold each other again if it doesn’t.”
“We will,” you answer. “We always will.”
Jungkook kisses your nose then your forehead, but it’s his pecks on your cheek that fully wake you up from an incredible slumber. It felt long and it was exactly what you needed after a night of partying and fucking your gorgeous husband, who happens to be smiling sweetly at you right now with his doe-eyes and semi-mussed hair.
“Good morning, sleepyhead,” he giggles. “I was wondering when you were gonna wake up.”
“What time is it?” You grumble, stretching your limbs and feeling the tension slightly dissipate.
“Almost 1.”
“Seriously?” You gasp. “I’ve never woken up this late.”
“I know. I was kinda getting worried,” he chuckles. “But then again, we did sleep around 4:30 AM so it’s fine.”
“What did you do to me, honey,” you laugh now.
“Well, you know, the usual,” he teases. “And I’m not done with you yet. I promised you days of this.”
He sneaks his hand in between your thighs and presses lightly against your cunt, earning him a low moan.
“Hmm, you did,” you hum. “But I’d really love a hug right now.”
With your outstretched arms, Jungkook melts into your hold, burying his face into your neck like he loves to do. You smell of peony and vanilla; you feel soft and comfortable and every beautiful thing in the world. He’d live right here if he could.
But it’s the middle of the day and you’ve already missed your morning medication.
“I love this but babe, you need to eat so you can take your medicine,” he says, pulling away now. “I bought us some lunch so can you please wash up already?”
“Fine, Mr.,” you playfully roll your eyes. “I’ll be down in a bit. I’ll see you there.”
You walk into the kitchen with Jungkook humming to a song and shaking his hips while he transfers the stew from the pot into a big bowl. He places that on the dining table before taking the heated rice from the microwave. Dressed in sweatpants and a tank top under a loose zip-up hoodie that lets his shoulder tattoos peek out - a weakness of yours, you’ve learned - he looks like the perfect husband who’s sexy in every way.
You’ve noticed these past weeks how he’s been more keen on getting chores done. You’ve always divided the tasks but recently, he’s taking more initiative - planning meals, listing grocery items, and scheduling laundry day. Those are things you think about on a daily basis because managing a household is tough work; you can’t help but think that he’s started taking some of the load from you, perhaps in preparation for when you get pregnant, and especially when a little one joins your family.
The thought makes you smile. It’s why when he tells you that the food’s ready and pulls out your chair, you sit on his lap instead, wrapping your arms around his neck and tucking your face in there as well.
“Thank you, Kook,” you huff. “It smells good.”
“It does. Too bad I didn’t cook it,” he chuckles, returning your hug.
“I know. You don’t have the patience for that.”
He tickles you in response but you just hug him more tightly.
“Hey, I know I turn you on when I’m being a dreamy househusband, but the food will get cold,” he says, turning to face you now, a rare sight indeed since he’s often the hard-headed and pouty one. “Let us eat this first, and then I can eat you out after. Deal?”
You bite his cheek in feigned annoyance before you move to your chair, taking in the dish in front of you.
“What time did you buy this?” You ask, realizing only after the first spoonful just how hungry you are, reminding you of a certain physical activity you both did just hours ago.
“Hmm, around 10,” he answers. “I was up at 8 and was gonna drink milk only to find out that we don’t have any. So I went to the supermarket and got eggs and a few other things, too. Then I passed by the restaurant on the way home.”
“Dreamy househusband indeed,” you wink at him. “But how were you up that early after last night?”
“Taehyung, that annoying child,” Jungkook groans. “He kept calling and texting so I just picked up. He woke up early and couldn’t find his engagement ring for Ailee, and he doesn’t know if he lost it or if he proposed to her but he doesn’t remember anything because he was so drunk. And she was called for an emergency at work so he couldn't find out. He also doesn’t wanna ask her himself so I said I’d ask her if my best friend did anything stupid and well, yeah, he did propose; she just doesn’t know that he doesn’t remember.”
You’re cracking up by the end of your husband’s narration and you feel for the man. “Oh, poor Taehyung. What a terrible way to go about asking someone to marry them.”
“Well, I never actually asked you, did I?” Jungkook says.
“Well, you kinda didn’t want to, did you?” you shoot back, earning you an adorable frown.
Appeasing him, you take his hand and kiss it. “It doesn’t matter. We said I do, you kissed me for a millisecond, and then here we are!”
“Baby!” He groans again. “Why are you bringing up the wedding kiss, AKA the most embarrassing kiss of my life?”
“Because so-called loverboy Jungkook kissed his bride for a millisecond, that’s why,” you laugh.
“I did make up for it, though,” he reminds you. “And I still do. I mean, you can’t seem to get enough of my kisses now.”
“You’re getting cockier and cockier by the year, honey,” you tease. “Even if, yes, you are absolutely correct. I can’t imagine living without your kisses.”
“Good. Because these lips can’t imagine not kissing you,” he smirks, and all you can do is cover your face in laughter and slight embarrassment, but he scrunches his nose as he watches you lose it, and your heart softens again.
He could be cheeky as much as he wants; deep down, he’ll always be that gentleman who loves making you laugh and smile.
You both finish your meal then you take your medicine. You insist on doing the dishes this time and it doesn’t take long. You’re full from eating so you return to your seat next to Jungkook where you both video call with Taehyung and the rest of your friends as he presents his predicament.
“Just be honest with her,” you advise. “Honesty and communication are incredibly important in a marriage, Tae. Take it from me. Who knows? Maybe she doesn’t remember how it happened, either.”
“And then you can just propose to her again,” Jungkook suggests. “Seriously, dude. Being honest is probably one of the hardest things to do, but it’s freeing more than anything when you share things with your partner. It just sucks that you have to share your stupidity but yeah, she’s crazy about you so I’m sure she’ll still want to marry you.”
Taehyung rants again but decides that listening to the only married couple in your friend group is his best course of action, so he says he will and will keep everyone posted.
Wanting to have your only caffeine intake for the day, you walk towards the counter to boil water for your tea and then walk back to Jungkook. You lean on the edge of the table as you watch him remain seated and mirror your smile. You think about what he said earlier about being honest. You’re also reminded of your conversation last night and how open and vulnerable he was. You recall the moments where he’s trusted you and followed your lead. You think back at the instances where you were the same. You’ve both come such a long way, and the thought sparks a certain kind of desire in you, something that he sees.
He reaches out his hand and you take it. He guides you to his lap where you comfortably sit, aligning your clothed cunt to his cock, anticipating the friction and what would come out of it. You kiss each other deeply, both your hands mapping each other out. He pulls down your nightgown; you unzip his jacket and sneak your hands underneath his top. He’s smooth and taut and absolutely perfect; his hardened nipples tell you that he’s just as turned on as you are.
Rocking against his hips, he decides that he absolutely needs to taste you, so Jungkook nudges you and guides you to the table where you lay, your legs spread out to show him the view that he craves.
His tongue is warm against your folds. He presses it against your clit before twirling it around, knowing exactly how you want this to go. You like it slow at first, with kisses on the sides and underneath your thighs where you’re sensitive, before wanting it fast, rough, and desperate, as Jungkook sucks and nibbles and locks your thighs in his arms, pulling you closer to the edge so he can bury his face in between them where he also would like to live if he could.
It’s like he’s been starved as he leaves no inch untouched. Your legs are shaking now, your body begging for release and he feels it; he feels the tension in your limbs and hears your hypnotizing moans. These make him want you to wrap around him so he can feel your warmth, too, so he can be sucked into your velvet walls and drown in your essence.
He pulls away then undresses himself and then you, leaving you both heaving and bare, desperate for more of your scent and your kisses and your touch and your sounds. He strokes himself a little before pulling you closer again, this time for his cock to slide inside your wet entrance, and the moan that escapes him is obscene yet full of want and yearning.
With your legs suspended in air, he thrusts into you - slow at first, teasing even, as he draws it out before going rough and deep, sending shockwaves all over his body with how well you’re taking him, and how hard you’re letting him go as you ask for more and more and more.
His hands explore your bare torso - hands fondling your swell breasts, fingers pinching your pert nipples, and palms gripping your waist to keep you steady. You kiss each other for most of it all, adding to your pleasure but also tempering it, as your mouths capture your moans and the curses you both let out.
“So good, baby,” you groan, your deep, sultry voice still surprising him after all this time. “You fit me so, so well.”
“I’m made for you, baby,” he growls, assaulting your neck with nibbles that have you ascending even more. “Fuck, you’re so perfect for me.”
Your cries of yes urge him further and he quickens his pace, knowing from your sounds that you’re close and his erratic thrusting says that so is he. With your chest heaving and your arms weakening from supporting your weight, you crash hard, and your elbows buckle from the intensity but he catches you, his arms cradling you before he lays your back on the table while he tries to reach his peak.
You recover, propping one arm on the surface and the other, pulling him close to you.
“Come for me, baby,” you whisper, licking the shell of his ear right after. “Want you to fill me up so good. Please.”
You meet his thrusts and then clench around him. It’s what does it for him, as he releases a long groan that almost makes you come another time. Your pants match his and he hugs you tightly before kissing your neck.
He’s sweating and unsurprisingly so, but it makes him look even hotter, with the softness in his eyes turning into determination in seconds. He bites your lip before licking your mouth.
“I’m not done with you yet,” he smirks. “Gotta cover all bases and take you from every angle, baby.” Pulling away, he releases you from his hold. “Will you turn around for me? We’ve got the rest of the day for this.”
You’re left speechless at his words but you’re eager and pliant as you’re under his spell. You turn around as he asks and the feel of his tongue on your cunt overstimulates yet electrifies you. There’s no other way you want to spend your Saturday. You know your Sunday and every day after that will be the same. But Jungkook is an amazing lover, and you know that after all the roughness, he’ll hold you gently, pepper you with soft kisses, and tell you how much he loves you so you won’t ever forget.
It’s weeks later when you pick up the phone and make a call.
“Hey, babe,” Jungkook’s sweet voice greets you on the other end of the line. “I’m heading to McDonald’s. The meal served on the plane was so little and I’m still hungry. Do you want anything?”
“Just, uh, just fries,” you mumble, as you pace back and forth in your living room.
“That’s all?” He asks, knowing that you always want that with a sundae. “Do you want me to get something from somewhere else?”
“No, I’ve had dinner, Kook,” you say. “But uh, do you think you can pass by the pharmacy? I… I need a pregnancy test.”
You can hear a pin drop with the silence from both your ends. But it could also probably just be your mind going blank as you vocalize the words, a request that holds with it so much as you try to think of what will happen after the result comes out.
“Baby…” Jungkook manages to mumble.
“I didn’t realize that my period’s been late a few days,” you explain. “But the cramps have been bearable and I didn’t think much of the nausea but, maybe… I mean, there’s a chance that—”
You only ramble when you’re nervous and Jungkook can feel your anxiety even through the phone.
“Baby,” he interrupts you. “It’s okay. Are you feeling any pain right now?”
“No… I just… Come home soon, please. I… I need to be with you.”
“I’ll be home soon. I love you.”
He drops the call and makes his order through the window, then he asks Mr. Yu to head to the nearby pharmacy where Jungkook runs to the counter for the pregnancy test and then asks his chauffeur to quickly but safely drive to you. He wants nothing more than to be with you right now and calm your nerves, and while his mind is going haywire at the thought of a possible pregnancy, he knows he needs to be the strong one; he needs to be the one to keep you both grounded, even if another false alarm will crush both your hearts.
The time is ticking by too slowly and he opts to send you messages instead, updating you of where he is and how much longer it’ll take for him to get to you, hoping that this could at least help while you wait for him to arrive.
Back in your loft, you continue pacing around the living room. You’d been too busy with work to take note of your tracker, which is why you hadn’t realized until today that your period is late. Jungkook’s been in Japan since Thursday and took a late afternoon flight this Monday so he can get home to you right away. You know he’s worried; even with his calm voice, you know deep down he’s just as anxious as you are. You appreciate that he’s holding the fort for both of you; he probably could tell from your rambling that you’re a little out of sorts, and for good reason.
Since deciding on actively trying to get pregnant, there’s been an air of tension about the topic even if it’s something you both openly talk about. Perhaps it’s wanting it so much that the chance of not achieving it is a heartbreaking thought.
You remind yourself, however, that you had a go at it not long ago; you’ve been following Dr. Han’s recommendations of cutting back on things as well so the hopeful part of you thinks that there’s a big chance it could happen. Every part of you wishes it’s happy tears tonight and not sad ones.
Your door unlocks and you stand from the couch, meeting Jungkook, who places the food on the nearby flat surface, and hugging him tightly.
“I missed you,” he hums against your hair. “You don’t have to be scared, okay? I’m with you. We’re doing this together, and whatever happens, we’ll hold each other. We promised, remember?”
“I remember,” you mumble. Facing him, you say you’ll take the test in the guest bathroom. “We’ll wait and check together, honey. I love you, whatever happens.”
“I love you, whatever happens.”
You exit the bathroom and find him seated on the bed, his coat removed and his tie loosened. His hair is a little mussed, perhaps from constantly combing through it as a way to ease his nerves. You sit on his lap - your safe place - and hug him again, letting your joint breaths remind you that you share the anticipation and the fear and the excitement with him.
Your alarm beeps to signal that the waiting time is over, and he pulls you close for a deep kiss before you stand up, and you drown in his taste and his scent, knowing that you’ll need all forms of his comfort tonight.
Walking together, you stand by the counter and stare at the stick that’s been turned over. He’s hugging you from behind and you pull his arms tighter around you. With a deep breath, you turn the test over again to face you, and the way that he buries his face in your neck while he whispers I love you in your ears is what makes your tears fall.
Two lines signifying your hopes and dreams of a family that you’ll love with all your imperfect heart.
“We’re having a little one, babe,” he huffs. “We… We’re gonna be parents.”
You finally face him, your tears uncontrollable now, and all you can do is nod.
“Yes,” you whisper. “We… we’re—”
His chest buries your cries, as you’re unable to form words at the gift that you’ve been given. His strong arms cradle you against him and it’s all you really need - just his love, for you, for the child you’ll have, for the family you’ll build.
Jungkook kisses your forehead before kneeling down to face your belly that’s started to nurture your baby.
“I can’t wait to meet you, little one,” he whispers. “You’re gonna be so, so loved. Mommy and Daddy will make sure of that.”
There’s so much emotion, as you watch Jungkook sweetly smile at what’s now housing the most important being in this world right now. His glassy doe-eyes, small sniffles, and the way he caresses you give you a glimpse of how he’ll probably be starting now. He already looks at you with so much love and you can just imagine how much more affectionate he’d be with that little human growing inside you. He’ll be giving and showing love to two now; there’s something incredibly special about that.
The low grumble of your stomach breaks the moment, however, but your joint laughter is welcomed, as he nuzzles your torso and kisses it in places before standing up to face you again.
“I know you said you just wanted fries but I got you that chicken and mozzarella sandwich you like and strawberry McFlurry, too,” he says, wiping away your tears. “I thought that if it was negative, you’d want to eat your sadness away, and if it was positive, you’d be so happy you’d want to eat more. It could also be that you’re just really hungry.”
“That’s a fair assessment,” you giggle. “But I had early dinner and I think the anxiety got to me. Thank you, honey. You already know what I need before I even say it.”
“I'm a certified dream husband and a dad-in-training,” he winks, making your heart soar. “But also… is it okay to feed our child… grease?”
You pinch his cheeks adoringly. “Just this once, I guess. And then it’s all healthy stuff for me starting tomorrow.”
“You mean for us,” he corrects.
“For us,” you nod.
You both eat your unhealthy comfort food, with baby talk dominating throughout dinner, such as what you’ll name them, how you’ll tell your family and friends, and how the home setup is gonna be like. You both decide on waiting until this weekend for the announcement, wanting to go to the doctor first and just savoring this moment between the both of you. You’ll eventually transform Jungkook’s office space in your room to a nursery and contact Hoseok to look for houses that you’ll move into after you give birth.
Jungkook asks you to have a shower with him, admitting that he feels quite clingy given the news. You don’t mind at all, especially when he hugs you from behind under the warm water and caresses your stomach again while he languidly kisses your lips.
He makes love to you once you’re in bed.
It’s different from what you’d both done during your “baby-making week,” as he liked to call it, when he took you on different surfaces and on different angles all over your apartment. You’d even done it in the car in your building’s basement parking because he wanted to “cover all bases,” although you know he just wanted an excuse because that reckless part of him just liked the thrill of fucking you in a not-so-private space. You loved every bit of that week though, and even the days that followed, where despite his late nights, early mornings, and business trips, he made sure to express his love in different ways.
But tonight, he takes it slow and simple, as he gently yet purposefully pushes into you while he looks into your eyes with so much adoration. He intertwines his fingers with yours, filling all your spaces, and cups your cheek while he whispers words of love and praise.
It’s a gradual buildup and perhaps it’s why your orgasm is drawn out as well. It’s a different kind of pleasure, as you feel suspended in air while being pulled down before the acceleration comes when he sucks your breast, as if you’re orgasming again while coming down from it. But it’s Jungkook - some days he’s rough and teasing; sometimes he’s gentle and serious.
Everyday it’s love though. Whatever form or pace it is, it’s the only love you want to know.
It’s tough keeping news as big as your pregnancy from your family and friends, but you and Jungkook wanted to consult with the doctor first so you can answer their questions because you know that there’ll be many of them, including when you’re due. It’s why you canceled dinner with the girls that Wednesday and why you passed up on lunch with your siblings that Friday.
You made it to Saturday, where you and Jungkook offered to host your monthly hangouts with all your friends in your apartment and then casually said over dinner that you’re pregnant. It was silent for a good minute before they burst into screams.
Nari and Jimin cried, which you didn’t expect. Taehyung burst into an opera-like song to express his emotions, Yeji was taking a video of the chaos, and Minhyuk was the only sane one who hugged you tightly and said that your child will be so lucky to have a set of crazy and loving uncles and aunties who will spoil them to no end.
It’s Sunday now, and it just so happens that your and Jungkook’s grandparents are in town to attend a gala this week.
Enjoying your lunch in the indoor dining hall of your parents’ estate, the scene is a common one - lavish dishes on the table that Seokjin chows down while little Seungjun sits on his lap, Soojin announcing that she scored 3 goals in their recent soccer game and that her twin brother Sunghoon placed first in their school’s poetry-writing contest, big boy Jihoon feeding his little sister, and the rest of the adults talking to each other from across the table, leaving the room abuzz with laughter and squeals.
Your grandfather asks everyone to quiet down, wanting to hear how everyone’s doing, even if he’s really just looking at you and Jungkook.
“And how about both of you, my dear?” He asks. “How have things been since your visit to Busan?”
“We’ve been well,” you reply, immediately taking Jungkook’s hand. You don’t really have a plan of how you’ll tell everyone; just like how things have always been, you just want it simple. The news is a big deal, but you don’t want anything grand when it comes to announcing it. “We’re both busy with work but we’ve been making time for each other.”
“And your health?” Your grandmother asks.
“Back to normal. The new medication has been good so I think I’m all clear,” you smile.
“That’s wonderful,” your grandfather replies, pausing a bit, perhaps to let you continue should there be more you want to say.
You can tell he’s trying to control himself from asking something else; it’s not lost on you that your grandparents have been very vocal about their desire for you and Jungkook to have a child, considering that, in their words, they “don’t have much time left on earth.” You feel for them. This union was a dream and you hadn’t realized until the car ride this morning just how much a child would mean to them.
Your grandfather turns to Seoyeon, ready to ask her this time but you get ahead of him.
“Actually, I’m not really back to normal,” you say, earning you worried looks from everyone. “I actually… Uh, you see. I… We—”
“We’re pregnant,” Jungkook finishes for you. You nudge him at the sudden announcement but he just chuckles. “You were rambling.”
“I…” You turn to look at your family who are all wide-eyed, perhaps still processing the words - except for the kids, of course, who are all still munching on their food, with Soojin asking why everyone is so quiet.
“Jungkook and I are expecting,” you say now, more calmly and more certain. “I’m due in the summer and we’re really excited. And nervous. But we can’t wait to meet our little one soon. And—”
The emotions overflow at this moment - both your parents and siblings are all teary-eyed, expressing their joy and excitement in so many ways. Your mother walks to you for a tight hug, and your father does the same to Jungkook until you’re hugging each member of both of your families - with your grandparents taking most of the time - including the kids who just follow what the adults are doing.
Soojin squeals when you explain in kid language what’s happening, prompting her to hug your belly then remarking that you look the same.
“Your Auntie’s belly will grow big soon,” Jungkook says, rubbing your stomach. “Can I ask all of you to take care of her with me?” He asks the little ones now, kneeling in front of them and mirroring their adorable smiles.
“Yes, Uncle Kookie!” They say in unison, prompting you to kneel alongside him and hugging each of the kids.
Their kisses are long and sweet. They’re much older now so they feel more responsibility when it comes to you and the baby, so they ask a lot of questions like how big they are right now, what they’re eating, and how they’ll come out of your belly. You answer each question, trying to explain as simply as you can with all the patience in the world.
Jungkook watches you, knowing that this - and all the times that you’re with them - is just a peek of how you’ll be as a mother. And he can’t wait to witness and experience all that with you. There’s so much to be excited about; he knows every moment now is precious and one you both will have to savor.
You return to your seat once everyone’s recovered, even if your mother is still crying and your grandparents still have glassy eyes.
“I know it took a while,” you say. “But Kook and I just wanted to make sure that we were having this child for our own reasons. And well, considering how we started, we wanted to enjoy ourselves first and not feel like we’re missing out on things.”
“And that’s alright, sweetheart,” Jungkook’s grandmother assures you. “We’re just glad that this happened on your own terms this time.”
“It did,” Jungkook answers. “We had a lot of growing up to do but uh, that won’t stop. I… I’ll still need help.”
“You have us,” Junghyun says now. “Min-jun, Seokjin, and I will do the big brother thing and guide you, Kook. You don’t have to worry about that.”
Seoyeon winks at you to say that you have her, Yeri, and Mina as well. You and Jungkook have such amazing people to guide you and that you look up to; you can’t wait to get to know yourself and each other in this aspect as well.
The rest of the afternoon is spent with your parents and grandparents talking to you and Jungkook, expressing their joy and hope that everything will all be okay. Your siblings pull you both aside to talk about the next steps from parenting sessions, prenatal yoga, house hunting, and everything in between. They make it all exciting, knowing that the worries will come and go, and you appreciate them all for that.
Later that night, you lay in bed while Jungkook stays by your side, propped up with one arm while his hand caresses your stomach once more, something he’s been doing every night before you both sleep.
“Today was good,” you say, as you place your hand over his, caressing the fingers that wander around your bare skin. “It somehow reminded me of that lunch when they proposed this marriage and now look where we are. We’ve come such a long way, Kook. I’m glad we can finally share the joy with them.”
Jungkook responds with a hum, his eyes glued to your stomach, traces of deep thoughts in them.
“What are you thinking about, honey?” You ask, cupping his cheek. He closes his eyes briefly to savor your touch.
“Just… everything, I guess,” he huffs. “Everyone said so many things. My brother even sent me a long text that I still have to respond to. But I was thinking about the kids. They’re still a rowdy bunch but they’re so good to each other, babe. They’re so good to people. And they have such affection towards their parents. I… I want that for our child. I want them to be good to others, to be loving to others. I want them to love us.”
“Honey, they will,” you smile, “because we’re raising them. You have such a big heart, Kook. I just know that’ll be enough to make them kind and loving people.”
“I just… I just want to be a good dad,” he admits, revealing another layer of his vulnerability. “I want them to have fun with me, to trust that I’ll protect them always. I want to be someone they’ll be proud of; I want them to be happy that I’m their father. I want to do right by them, by you.”
“I bet as they grow up, they’ll want to do the same with you. That’s how loved they’ll feel,” you say, turning to your side so you can face him and he can focus only on you. “You’re already doing amazing, honey. They’ll feel how much you love them by how much you love me. And you love me so beautifully. That makes all the difference.”
“Thank you for making me so happy,” he responds after a beat of silence, his heartfelt words piercing through you. “I didn’t think I could feel more for you than I already do.”
“Me, too,” you smile, kissing him deeply. “We’re gonna be okay. Things will start to change but I want you to know that I’ll love you through it all, okay?”
“And I’ll love you through it all just the same,” he kisses your forehead now.
With you cradled in Jungkook’s arms as you listen to his steadying heartbeat and soft snores, you know that however hard this journey is gonna be, he’ll hold you no matter what, and you’ll be strong for each other through it all.

hello!! saw your writing today in my tags and got interested, read some more and you seem really cool :D i got one fic stuck in my head though, the one you posted earlier today with the 7 foot spider reader! it was really cool but i kind of thought about a follow up (and I made sure to check your rules before this)
i was thinking, m/n is really big, intimidating and generally a badass- however. in bed (nsfw) he’s inexperienced, shy af, and ends up just being really submissive (you actually didn’t specify if you prefer dom or sub reader, i assumed you mind neither, but if u don’t feel comfortable with this then just ignore)
thank you, and keep up your great works so far :D
Anon, you’re officially my favorite fucking person ever. Oh my god. This req. warmed my heart. Idek what. It just did. Thank you for reading my other fics too. Wow. I’m reeling rn.
Also you didn’t specify who with so I just did HCs for Noir and Miguel
Pls req again soon! You’re so sweet
**I do not own any characters or part of the franchise from marvel or sony **
Summary: look at req
Tw: explicit activities ehehehehe, language
-Miguel-
The first time you two try anything he’s expecting you to be all dominant and get his ass blasted
Y’all two are making out and he’s ready to take it to the next level
And you’re nervous cause you know he’s expecting you to be this super experienced “knows how to make you scream immediately” kinda guy
The truth is you haven’t had much experience because while people may be into the whole “huge man” thing they’re too scared to actually come up to you and even have a conversation
And you’re also scared of hurting your partner
Just a mix of things that led you to little experience
It doesn’t take long for Miguel to figure it out
As soon as you glanced at his face nervously he knew something was up
At first Miguel is surprised bcc he would’ve expected men and women to practically be hanging from you
Once he recovers from the initial shock he’s down with topping and showing you the ropes
It’s a bit of a boost to his ego, not to mention a massive turn on for him
He never lets you shy away from him/cover your face. He loves seeing you. He knows he’s not stronger than you but he’ll still pull your hands away/pull you closer
But sometimes he does wanna be on bottom
Queue very erotic teaching sessions
When you do something he likes he’ll definitely over exaggerate so you’ll know
He also loves marking you up in more…intense ways because he knows it won’t really hurt you
Clawing your back. He’ll claw the SHIT out of your back.
Biting you too. Sometimes he just can’t help it
He finds out you have god tier stamina and impecable recovery time and will definitely use that to his advantage
*cough cough* Overstimulation and denial *cough cough*
He’s down to do whatever you’re comfortable with but sometimes he really needs some stress relief i.e. getting a blowjob or just fucking you senseless
He won’t admit it but he likes when he’s the little spoon after you two are done
~Noir~
You got nervous and told him the first make out session that you had practically no experience
He was a little taken aback, again, you’re so big and so hot how could people not be lining up for a piece of you
It makes him feel even more lucky to be with you though
“Oh…that’s ok, dear. We’ll take it slow, then.”
Then he finds out your submissive too and he’s pretty sure he has a heart attack
Now he was pretty vanilla at first but then he found the internet and stumbled upon some kinks and did some…research
Behind. He loves seeing your back muscles move and twist under him
He likes tying your wrists together with some of his webbing
It’s strong enough that it could actually hold you if you tried resisting, maybe not for very long, but it wouldn’t snap like thread at the slightest pressure
He loves praising you. Praise. All the time. Always praise. You could breathe and he’d be on his knees for you
Every time he does something new he asks if you’re ok with it
He’ll be gentle if that’s what you want but he figures out that’s usually not the case
Usually you want everything he’s got, as much as he’ll provide you
He does love soft romantic nights with you though
Where he gets to enjoy your large beautiful frame and your contrasting shyness
When he gets to slow down and drink in ALL of you
The noises you make, the small movements, your incoherent mumbling
He loves ALL of it
He’s so down bad for you not even a joke
A little guilty pleasure for him is kissing you senseless
He loves being the big spoon for you, even if it just feels like a backpack is attached to you

Synopsis: What would it be like to hold the heart of Brooklyn’s very own Spiderman? Is it an exhilarating tale for the ages, or do things crash and burn before the romance even begins?
Warnings: Some cursing but that’s about it
A/N: Think of this as a part 2 to my original college!miles morales headcanons. Very sweet and cute, with Miles being a dork even in his young adult years.

As said previously in my general college!miles headcanons, I doubt that he’s that invested in dating and pursuing a love life while at school in jersey. So I feel like it’s likely he’ll meet his partner when he travels back home for vacations, weekend trips, etc, as its somewhere he feels more at ease to be himself.
I like the idea of Miles bumping into the attractive person at the Lenny’s Bodega he normally buys his Jamaican Beef Patties from, in a very cheesy and cliche situation where there’s only one left in stock when the both of you reach for it….and Miles being the gentleman he is, would let you have it (also bc there’s a massive fight happening outside and he’s got a suit up real quick, but you don’t question just how frantic he is when leaving the store)
After that Miles tries his hardest to see you again, making up the lamest excuses to head to the corner store. Mama Rio’s out of milk? He’s already bolting out the door. Catching up with dad while he’s on patrol and Jeff mentions he’s a tiny bit hungry? No problem Pops, I got it. And lord knows that boy do not need to go on that many ‘snack runs’ with how skinny and lanky he is, cuz he not gaining nothin’
Though at some point he does run into you again, and he’s able to engage a conversation by the fact that there’s more beef patties in stock so both of you guys can get one. It’s a cheesy joke but it works, cuz when you laugh a little it gives him a major confidence boost
Of course, Mama Rio peeps that somethings up with her son when he comes home with an extra pep in his step. But just because he’s an adult now doesn’t mean that she doesn’t have grounds to tease him. “Did you meet someone today? A girl? Or….. a guy?” She absolutely lives for seeing her son happy and giddy.
It starts just as casual texting, sending tiktoks back and forth and sending casual check-ins. Over time it evolves into meetups, hangouts, facetime calls. And originally Miles is just like “they’re attractive and cool asf” and is perfectly fine with a friendship. It’s been a long time since he’s had a genuine one (in reference to the events of ATSV), and more than anything, just wants someone he can be real with.
But even he can’t fight the realization that at some point throughout your friendship, his perspective of you shifted from platonic to romantic. Miles started to notice little things about you that would make his heart stall in his chest or his stomach flip around with butterflies. Noticing a new fragrance you’ve bought, or a change in your usual hair style, or being more in tune with your emotions than even you are.
So it begs to question; when would Miles say anything about his budding feelings? Well…he probably won’t say much of anything at first. If anything he tries to bury them because he doesn’t wanna ruin the one good friendship he’s been able to maintain since he was a teen. But his changes in behavior don’t go unnoticed by you, and for a while, the two of you walk this thin line of “will they-wont they” until you ultimately bring the conversation up
You go on a couple of dates, have a couple of conversations about what would be expected in a relationship with the both of you, and with your talks Miles slowly but surely begins to gather the courage he needs to be firm with his desires for you…which comes in the form of a kiss underneath the stars while stargazing on the rooftop of his brownstone building.
In the beginning, he’s still kind of skittish, he doesn’t wanna do anything wrong ruin what you two have, and there’s a lot of reassurance that goes into play during the first few months of you two dating (on both ends, really). But once he’s comfortable and you two are really set in…good luck tryna get rid of him
Clingy clingy clingy clingy clingy- loves cuddles, hugs, kisses- is definitely a “where my hug at” typa nigga, and will immediately get grumpy if you dont give him a greeting kiss. Always has a hand on you, whether it be on your back, in your hand, on your thigh- he just needs to physically feel you to ease his mind sometimes.
He draws portraits of you and leaves them in your bedroom or his to find. He also likes when you give him feedback and praise for his drawings because they make him feel really good about them. He always jokes about how you change your hair so much, it’s hard for him to nail down certain hair types and protective styles that you wear.
When he’s home for summer break, your parents can’t and will never stop you two from sneaking into each other’s rooms through the fire escape. They just expect to come into your rooms and find the two of you cuddled up together, with blankets lazily thrown over your bodies. But it also gives them plenty of pictures to blackmail the both of you with. (Jefferson is notorious for picking on his son for clinging onto you like how he used to cling onto Rio’s arm as a baby when he slept. Miles will never know peace in his own house.)
If you have your own apartment, Rio has to beg this boy to come home, and constantly makes jokes about him moving in with you since he spends so much time at your place anyway.
When he’s away at school, he calls you three times a day - one in the morning so that you two can wake up and get ready together, one in the afternoon when he’s in between classes and while you’re either in between classes or on lunch at your job, and once in the evening so you two can unwind and fall asleep together on the phone for the process to be repeated again.
He likes to speak random sentences in Spanish and watch your face contort in confusion. In the scenario that you don’t know or understand the language, you’ll ask him what he said, but he’s so difficult with it, he lets you beg until you ultimately give up, and whispers it in your ear while giving you a back hug. It turns out to be something cheesy as hell, but you love it either way.
If you do understand/know the language, you look at him like he’s grown two heads and question what it is he’s even saying, because in this scenario he’ll say the most random and out of pocket shit just to annoy you. Though you forgive him in the end because he honestly sounds so good when he’s speaking his mother’s tongue.
Dating Miles also means sharing him with Brooklyn, and subsequently New York in general, when it comes to his Spiderman duties. If you can hold him down even though he can’t guarantee being a constant presence for you, you’ll make him fall harder than he originally had. If you love him unconditionally, even if the nights where he comes to you, battered, bruised and exhausted; even when he has to cancel dates or disappear in the middle of a phone conversation; or there are certain things he can’t tell you because of his superhero occupation - the one thing Miles will always promise you is that he’ll come back to you every single time. And that's more than enough for the both of you.
If you enjoyed, please leave a like, comment, and reblog for others to see! And don’t be shy to send in a request!

Guilty pleasure
Garreth Weasley x f!reader
Tags: explicit | anal sex | pegging | cunnilingus
3k words
Summary: Garreth would never admit his obsession with anal play to anyone; especially not receiving. Behind closed doors, he has no qualms about indulging in his guilty pleasure.
A/n: For Weasley Wednesday's prompt: Kink! Garreth is an arse man through and through and you can't change my mind.
🔞 Bonus audio 👇 🔞
Garreth was a man obsessed. It was bordering on worship the way he dropped to the floor behind you, kneading your behind as if it were the most beautiful sight to behold. He told you as much over and over again. Not that you were complaining—to have a boyfriend so enamoured with your body that he would literally kneel for you was quite the ego boost. Not only did he admire your curves, he certainly knew how to pleasure you in all the right ways whilst he was back there.
Imagine your surprise when he’d positively squirmed away from your touch when you’d tried to return the favour—you’d told him in no uncertain terms that he was a hypocrite, and he'd relented, allowing you to experiment with all the ways he’d touched you. Any sort of indignation he’d shown soon melted away once you’d convinced him just how good it felt, and the thrill of being able to dominate Garreth was addictive. He was surprisingly prone to begging to get exactly what he craved, and you had no intention of giving it to him easily.
A few weeks after you’d started your experimentation, Garreth was practically giddy with excitement about what you'd planned that evening. He called it his guilty pleasure and had sworn you to secrecy, insisting that gaining any pleasure from penetration made him some sort of sexual deviant. A smile formed on your mouth as you thought about what you'd be doing later, paying absolutely no attention to the History of Magic class you were currently occupying.
Garreth sat next to you, apparently having the same problem as he tapped his wand on the table and stared lazily off into the distance, only emerging from his stupor with a sharp inhale when you placed a hand on his thigh. The bulge in his trousers was hard to miss as your fingers glided over the fabric, and you smirked at him knowingly as he blushed furiously under your gaze.
This would be fun. Garreth enjoyed teasing you and getting you wound up; now it was your turn to play.
"Looking forward to later, are we?" you whispered next to his ear.
The usually chatty Gryffindor appeared to be speechless, likely because of your continued pawing at his stiffening length. Thank Merlin you were nestled safely at the back of the classroom, away from prying eyes—most of the class were asleep, anyway. Garreth just nodded, his green eyes drifting lazily over your face and landing on your lips with a subconscious flick of his tongue over his.
“What do you want me to do later?” you asked.
“I…I can’t say that here,” he hissed.
“I suppose you won’t be getting anything from me, then,” you replied under your breath, removing your hand from his lap and trying to hide the smirk pulling at your lips.
Garreth let out a tiny whine as his eyebrows peaked in a plea, shiftily looking around the classroom. Binns was still droning on, and your classmates were still otherwise occupied, so he leaned in closely to your ear before he replied.
“I want you to, you know…play with my arse,” he said barely audibly, cringing at the admission.
You stifled a giggle, sliding your hand back onto his thigh and turned your head, your lips grazing his cheek as you went to whisper in his ear. You let your warm breath slide down his neck, watching the visible shivers it elicited as you squeezed his erection through the cloth.
“I’ll do more than that, Gar. I’m going to fuck you so hard you can barely walk.”
If you could have captured his face in that moment, you would have framed the image and kept it by your bedside. Never had you seen him so wide-eyed and desperate—not all the times you teasingly played with his cock with your tongue before you took him in your mouth, nor when you sat in his lap and refused to move, until he ended up flipping you over and taking you hard for your disobedience.
No, you were in control this time; he was at your mercy whether or not you’d give him what he wanted.
"Are you going to be a good boy for me and do as I tell you later?" you asked, slowly squeezing his head with your thumb and forefinger.
"Fucking hell…"
"That wasn't an answer."
"Yes…yes, I'll be good…"
You smiled sweetly and bit your lip and he squirmed under your touch, only pulling your hand away at the abrupt end to the lesson. Garreth looked stunned next to you, face now flushing crimson and breathing stilted. Without a word, you threw your book into your bag and gave him a kiss on the cheek, winking as you walked out of the classroom and leaving him to deal with his problem alone.
-
You went about your day, attending your final lesson and Quidditch practice straight afterwards—you didn’t see Garreth until dinner, where he sat down next to you looking ever so slightly miffed. He looked terribly cute when he pouted, the way his eyebrows knitted together and his freckled nose wrinkled. With a kiss and a promise to make it up to him after your meal, he was appeased and dug into his food, finishing at record pace even for him. You took your time by comparison, making sure to have second helpings and making a show of slowly licking your dessert spoon as he watched you with increasing agitation.
Finally, when you were full, Garreth almost fell backwards at the speed in which he shot up off the bench before taking your hand to drag you out of the hall. Apparently he didn’t much care about the curious glances shot your way, likely incorrectly guessing what you were about to get up to. You were expecting him to head up to the Room of Requirement, but instead he pulled you towards Gryffindor tower.
“We’re doing this in your dormitory?”
“I want to be in my own bed,” he mumbled, coming to a stop at the portrait hole and speaking the password.
The common room was empty, with everyone still at dinner—Garreth bounded up the stairs two at a time as you ran to keep up with him, his enthusiasm catching as a wide grin spread across your face. His dormitory was cosy, and the bed so plush and quite big…encased in the heavy red fabric with the addition of a silencing charm, you could be ensured complete privacy.
Garreth wasted no time in shedding his clothes, pulling you by the waist to meet you lips in a feverish kiss as his fingers tangled in your hair. You hummed happily, slipping your tongue into his mouth in gentle exploration as you tore off your tie, your shirt and everything else whilst you stumbled onto the bed. You peeled off the final layers of Garreth’s uniform as he lay back on the sheets, watching intently whilst you worked. Merlin, he was gorgeous. You ran a hand down the thick, red hair that trailed down his chest and below his navel, brushing his stiffening cock on the way down, down, down…
“Lie back, legs up.”
Your voice had shifted, to one of easy compliance to inarguable authority. Garreth noticed the change in tone, his eyes widening slightly as he did as you’d asked—or told—him, leaning back with his head on his hands whilst he peered down at you. He was more shy about exposing himself, until you gave his ankles a nudge and he spread his legs, pushing his ankles back as far as they’d go.
“Going straight in, are you?” he asked with a nervous chuckle.
You gave him a smirk as you rummaged in the clothes pile for your wand, muttering the charm to coat your fingers in a warm lubricating liquid. His mossy eyes never left you as you slid your fingers between his cheeks, gently circling his entrance.
“Relax.”
Garreth hummed and let his head fall back, closing his eyes to enjoy the gentle caress. Sliding a finger inside, you focused on relaxing him with kisses and slow, gentle movements of your hand. The way he writhed, completely vulnerable, with just the teasing pressure of a finger pointed to a desperation you’d never seen before. The musky scent of his arousal filled your nostrils as you licked up his thigh, gently sucking the skin just the way he liked to mark you. You bit back the urge to bite him, those deliciously muscular thighs so tempting, but ultimately decided to focus on the gentle preparation—there was plenty of time, after all.
As you pushed another finger inside him, Garreth started to get handsy. His hand reached down and his fingers found your hair, so you glared up at him from between his legs.
“Hands to yourself,” you ordered, stilling your hand.
Garreth frowned down at you, his grip on your hair slackening but not relinquishing. He wasn't used to taking orders in the bedroom, and clearly needed a little reminder about who was in charge.
“Do you want me to carry on?” you asked, curling your fingers to give that sweet spot a teasing stroke.
His head fell back, breaking your eye contact. Oh yes, he liked that.
“Yes!” he gasped. “I’m sorry…please, don’t stop.”
That softly sighed please ignited a fire in your chest, spreading straight through your torso to your core; twisting and pulling with urgent need to make Garreth beg you for more. He already looked so vulnerable spread out before you, losing any inhibitions he’d held as soon as you’d started your fondling—this might be a guilty pleasure, but it was one he clearly had no issue indulging in.
Garreth's melodic moans filled the canopy bed as you teased and circled the soft pad inside him, slowly pumping your fingers and stretching him gradually. He was almost ready; slick and relaxed, but you weren't about to give him anything without asking.
His cock lay neglected on his abdomen, hard and thick and deliciously tempting. Keeping your rhythm, your other hand grasped his stiff length, your tongue running along the thick vein on the underside of his shaft until you reached his head, licking clean his salty precum with a soft moan intended for his pleasure.
"Fucking hell, I need you…"
With a smirk, you withdrew your mouth and your fingers with a wet squelch as Garreth groaned with displeasure, already missing your touch.
“On your front, darling."
Garreth whined at the term of endearment usually reserved for yourself, his glazed eyes watching you as he rolled onto his stomach and shoved a pillow under his hips ready. Kneading the flesh of his freckled arse, you delivered a hard smack before pulling your strap from the bedside table.
“Shit…," Garreth muttered, an octave higher than it should have been.
You pulled on the black leather contraption that strapped around your waist, kneeling over him as you buckled yourself in, working slowly and deliberately as you held his gaze. His eyes were focused on the lengthy glass protrusion prodding eagerly at his entrance that received a final lubrication charm before you started to push.
You'd prepared Garreth well, your artificial cock sliding into his slick hole with ease as you held his hips still. You eased in slowly, watching his reaction, which appeared to be one of pure bliss; his eyes unfocused and mouth hanging open. You started a steady pace, pulling out almost the entire way before plunging back in, massaging that sweet spot that had him making the sweetest noises.
"Can you take it harder?" you leaned over and whispered in his ear.
"Yes…harder…"
"Such a little slut," you chided.
He whined as you bestowed another hard smack to his arse before slamming into him harder.
"What are you?"
"A…slut," Garreth whimpered.
The sounds he made were utterly obscene; all muttered expletives, desperate pleas and gasping moans as you pounded him just as he did you.
"Y-yes…that's it…"
He’d lost the battle to keep his head up, collapsing onto the bed with his cheek pressed onto the mattress as you shunted him forward with every thrust into him. His eyes were unfocused, lips parted and pink; you even swore you saw a little drool pooling on the sheet below him. He was absolutely delirious with pleasure, every inch of skin flushed as your bodies burned in tandem.
The leather of the strap rubbed against your clit with every roll of your hips, giving you enough pleasure to take the edge off of your intense arousal, but nowhere near enough to satisfy you. Still, being on this end of Garreth was well worth the agonising throb between your legs. You scratched down his flushed back, leaving white rake marks that welted as he shuddered under your touch. The shake of his body wasn't just from the pain you inflicted—Garreth was already getting close to his release.
Gripping his hair, you yanked back hard to a gasping moan as you leaned forward to get his attention.
“Do you want me to let you come?” you purred.
Garreth appeared to have lost all ability to speak coherently as he let out a strangled ‘yeah’, whining with every thrust that sent shivers up your spine and intensified the throbbing ache of your neglected heat.
"Up on your knees."
He obeyed slowly, shakily, pushing back onto the cock with a groan as you shuffled to get comfortable before resuming your previous fierce pace. You fucked him hard and fast, nearly breathless as he sobbed into the bed sheets. You reached around to hold his weeping cock at the tip, gently without pressure as you focused on the rhythm of your hips, slowing ever so slightly…
"Ask nicely, darling."
"Please…please, don't stop…let me come."
Your walls fluttered around nothing with uncontained lust as he begged for his release. Your breath hitched and a tiny moan clawed its way out of your throat; the swell of love amongst the heady desire.
"Come on Gar, come for me..."
The cry of utter relief that spilled from his mouth was followed by a shudder—he came hard, gripping the sheets with white knuckles as he gasped for breath. His moans filled the canopied bed and you sighed with satisfaction as you felt his cum dribbling onto your fingers.
“Good boy,” you sighed, muttering more praises as you slowed your thrusts.
The trickle of cum into your hand ceased with the last of the pulsing waves of ecstasy and Garreth lay limp with his face down on the bed. You admired the obscenity of it all for a few moments until you pulled out of him, running your thumb over his gaping hole as he squirmed away and fell onto his stomach.
You let out a small chuckle and cast a quick cleaning charm on your hands, falling back onto the bed with a sigh. Shifting your hips against the strap, you searched for the friction you desperately needed as you regained your breath—the bed was stifling, with stale air and the scent of sweat and sex permeating the plush fabrics.
You’d barely regained your composure before a blur of copper swept across your vision; having been near comatose a few seconds earlier, he moved with surprising speed to straddle your thighs. His face was still beetroot red, glistening with sweat and beautiful, but instead of the fucked-out expression you’d witnessed as you’d railed him, a huge mischievous grin spread across his face.
“You didn’t think you’d get to tease me like that and get away with it, did you? It’s my turn now,” he said, already working to unfasten the buckles around your waist.
“I…I didn’t say you could…”
“Lie back and relax, darling.”
Garreth plunged two fingers into your sopping wet entrance with a devilish grin, his green eyes glittering at your shock. You had neither the strength or the inclination to stop what was about to unfold as he pumped his hand to the sounds of your breathless gasps. He was rough and quick, and it was just what you needed.
His head had dipped out of view, using his knees to pry your legs further apart so he could settle on the bed between them. He got to work marking up your thighs, returning the favour tenfold as the mottled red marks bloomed instantaneously on your arousal-coated skin. Still his fingers worked their magic, the blood rushing away from your head so fast your head pounded painfully.
Garreth’s warm mouth left your skin and a moment later his tongue was teasing your entrance, lapping up your juices as he moaned in delight. You returned the sounds, muttering his name over and over again as he travelled up to your swollen nub—the first swipe of his tongue was pure ecstasy, and the gentle suck he followed up with had you squirming and clamping your thighs around his head.
He didn’t mind in the slightest, burying his face against you so firmly you could scarcely believe he could breathe. You tugged his luscious copper hair, glad he wasn’t telling you off as you’d done to him; he was too focused on his mission, to have you falling apart and screaming his name at the earliest opportunity. It wouldn't be long until he succeeded—the ferocity in which he feasted on your cunt was impressive to say the least.
You locked onto his eyes as you approached your climax, giving him a pleading look to keep going as his tongue swirled and flicked and fingers curled inside you. You were so close, so close…until you were there, and you fell off the precipice into blissful oblivion.
“Garreth!”
It was a feral scream, your legs clamping tighter around his head as you came, whimpering as Garreth’s tongue continued to lap at your overly sensitive clit. The waves of pleasure kept coming, reducing your body to a writhing mess. As your orgasm ebbed away, you yanked his hair hard to remove his mouth with a pop, a satisfied smirk crossing his swollen, glistening lips.
“Fucking hell, Gar…”
“Simply returning the favour,” he chuckled, wiping your juices from his chin with the back of his forearm.
He flopped down next to you, pulling you into a kiss; the taste of yourself wasn’t distracting in the slightest, and you melted into his embrace. You thought the experiment had been a great success, and the permanent smile on Garreth’s face indicated he felt the same as he pawed greedily at your behind. He truly was a man obsessed.

a/n: i was gonna write full scenarios for all of them but then i just... didn't idk. i'd still like to tho so if y'all want that lmk (tho i might write it anyways)
!!Everything written here is fiction, not meant to be taken as real life, if anything here makes you uncomfortable please just block & move on!!
Bang Chan
ears & face get super red.
instantly very giggly and embarrassed, tries to hide so fast.
he’s always their strong leader so the members seeing him getting any affection or being babied in any way, even something as small as a kiss makes him kind of freeze.
Lee Know
cocky mf
loves showing off
wants everyone to know you’re only for him
honestly would probably embarrass you before you embarrassed him
Changbin
biggest ego boost istg (as if he needs it)
would maybe get embarrassed sometimes but most of the time he just stands there with that goofy smile like “yup, this is all for me”
starts trying to get kisses from you while other people are around just bc he likes looking big and strong in front of everyone.
pouts if you won’t give him affection while others are around anymore, gets super dramatic and whiny, stuff like “you must be ashamed of me :(“ even though he knows you’re not
Hyunjin
shy like Chan, super flustered, tries to hide
complete opposite of Lee Know where he really doesn’t want to show off, wants to keep that kind of stuff all to himself, only for him even if it is just a kiss
would pout to you about it later if the members tried to tease him at all
Han
kisses all day every day from this man
it’s a regular occurrence to kiss in front of the members, it doesn’t even faze you, him, or even the members anymore
honestly would be more pouty and sad if you say you won’t kiss him in front of the members
“but baby they see stuff like that all the time :(“
literally the biggest baby, give him kisses or he’ll be sad
Felix
kinda like Lee Know, wants to show off
he knows you look good & he does too, once he knows you’re willing to give him kisses in front of them, he won’t hold back
getting ready for a show? kisses. standing in the kitchen making dinner? kisses. just sitting on the couch doing nothing? kisses.
mans love language is touch and he makes that 100% clear
Seungmin
in the most positive way, he does not care either way
like he won’t be upset if you don’t kiss him in front of them but he’s not shy either
anyone makes any teasing comments to you about it he’d instantly be in protection mode
“shut up leave them alone, not their fault you have no one”
protective bf Seungmin omg
I.N
Shyyyy babyyy
The members tease him for literally anything, pls let the man live omg lol
“ah baby what are you doing” while hiding his face
Hand holding is as far as he will go in front of his hyungs

UPDATE! New deadline: 20 August (Sunday)
PedroStories 1000 followers celebration
PedroStories hit 1000 followers in May, around the same time the blog had its 2nd birthday, so we decided to celebrate it with the fandom’s writers and readers!
We prepared with a few general quotes, other quotes from Pedro and his characters and with some fanfiction tropes. You don’t have to stick to the character whose quote you choose – actually, we encourage you to mix and match any of them as creatively as you want! The celebration starts today and lasts until 20 August!
Please read the rules carefully, then you will find the list of prompts under the cut.
Rules
We welcome pairings with readers/characters of any gender, non-romantic pairings or even fics with no pairings. 💚 The rating can be anything from general to explicit.
Choose at least one quote from any of the quotes lists (you can use more prompts in one fic) and choose at least one trope. You can write as many fics as you want using these prompts!
It’s not necessary to let us know what prompts you’ve chosen! Just let your creativity flow - this challenge is completely open!
Please mention in your post that your work is for @pedrostories’ celebration and use the special tag #pedrostories1k, just so we can track and queue every single entry.
Please post your work until 20 August – we will track the special tag until that day, and in a few days we create a masterlist of all the fanfictions. You can keep using the list later and we will queue them as usual if you tag the blog, but we won’t track the special tag anymore and won’t update the event’s masterlist.
Please make sure you use tags and warnings properly – we take tagging stories seriously to help our followers find the story that caters to their needs and avoid those they don’t want to see on their feed - If there’s character/trope/dynamic/etc. you would like to avoid, you can easily blacklist tags on tumblr, you can find a tutorial about it here!
Please remember that even though this list has quotes from Pedro, we don’t reblog real person fics (aka fics about Pedro himself)– this blog is for fanfiction written for characters played by him.
Following the blog in order to participate in the game is not mandatory, but it’s very much welcomed! 🤗
Send us an ask if you have any questions – we will use the tag #pedrostories1k questions so you can check previously answered asks about the event.
Signal boosts about this event are appreciated!
Have fun! 🌻

Destiny & Deliverance: Chapter 27 Teaser
Destiny & Deliverance Masterlist ||| Dieter Bravo X OFC
A/N: Good evening/morning friends! Your official chapter 27 teaser is here!
You will be happy to know that I pumped this chapter out the last two days (finally) and it’s done. I’ve sent it off to my beta for proofing and will post no later than Tuesday (hopefully). I say hopefully because I do still plan to prepare a Deconstructing Dieter Bravo post and a Today’s Musings post to go along with this chapter. I’m crossing my fingers that those won’t hold me up. I should be able to knock them out quickly.
I almost didn’t do a teaser for this chapter because again… I had a hard time coming up with ideas that wouldn’t ruin anything. I somehow managed to throw this together while laying in bed waiting for the NyQuil to kick in (I’ve had a cold - fun). So, if it’s incoherent, I’m sorry. 🥴
This will hopefully be the last super heavy chapter. We will finally have Dieter and Talia back together again and working through their shit. There is going to be some serious communication going down, tears, hugs, and healing. We learn a little more about Talia’s past and we finally get Dieter’s official diagnosis.
Some additional exciting news…chapter 28 is halfway done too! I did skip ahead to work on this for a bit because I needed to write some happy times. It was a good boost to get past the writers block I was having. No ETA on it, but it will come a lot quicker than this one did. I’m excited for this one. 😉
Now go forth and share your thoughts and predictions based on the mood board for this chapter and the snippet below. I also shared another snippet for WIP Last Line. You can find that HERE if you missed it.

Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better (Erwin x Reader)
Synopsis: You and Erwin just made the title of Section Commander, and you insist on a night out with the troops to celebrate and boost morale. Erwin hates crowded public affairs and making a fool of himself, and yet, you managed to talk him into both.
Word Count: 2.7k
Tags/Warnings: Drinking and Alcohol, Partying, Drinking Encouragement, Reader Does a Handstand, Come for the Fun, Stay for the Feels
Notes: Ah, this has been sitting, aging if you will like a fine wine. Happy birthday, Daddy Sasageyo.
It hadn’t even taken him one full ale before he lost control of the situation.
“I’m doing a ‘cheers’ after our speech; you’ll want this.”
“After what—?”
“C’mon, Erwin, it’s a celebration!” you bellowed, slamming a pint down in front of him and giving him no time to speak. You held your own in a wobbly grip, grabbing his shoulder for support as you stepped up onto the bench next to him.
“Scouts, attention!” Your new squads snapped toward you out of habit as the noise in the room simmered. You raised your tankard to catch the warm light from the chandeliers above. “Thank you all for coming out tonight! It’s an honor to serve as the new section commanders for your squads.”
You nudged Erwin, and he scrambled to stand with the handle of his ale in hand. He opted to stay on the ground.
“Yes, we look forward to working with all of you,” he announced with a curt nod. Erwin squared his shoulders back, just slightly reeling from the impromptu attention.
“You’ll hear enough of our voices during drills, so we won’t talk long. But—” You offered the pub of soldiers a salute. —“Thank you for your service. Let’s kick some titan ass together! Drinks on us!”
The roar of cheering that filled the hall drowned out Erwin’s “what?”
His brows rose on his forehead as his eyes widened in shock. He looked up at where you stood on the bench. You took a sip of your ale as the members of your squads celebrated amongst each other. The crowd had erupted in cheers again before Erwin could question you.
“Drink! Drink! Drink! Drink!”
You laughed, turning to catch his eye. Erwin’s shoulders slumped, playfully raising his brow at you as he glanced from you to his full ale. You shrugged, letting out another light laugh as you offered your hand, and Erwin stepped up onto the bench with a sigh and a shake of his head. The room erupted as you both took a swig of your ales.
Just as Erwin was about to take his lips from the rim, he glanced at you, watching as the bottom of your cup gradually rose. He tried his best to keep up with you, but he was soon forced to tap out. The slightest dribble of ale ran down the corner of his lips, and you were already holding up your empty cup in triumph.
Your new squads, imbibing in their free ale, chanted your name and weren’t ashamed to inform Erwin’s squads whose section commander was best.
That’s what Erwin believed started the whole thing.
Barely an hour into the night, all the other soldiers had cleared out a circle in the middle of the pub, hollering and cheering while Hanji held Erwin’s legs by the tops of his boots as he wobbled. Erwin disliked large gatherings as much as he disliked making a fool of himself, yet you managed to drag him into both.
“You can do it, Section Commander!” a subordinate from one of Erwin’s squads cried, pushing through the crowd and spilling a bit of ale on the wooden floor below. Erwin’s button-down began to tug out from his waistband, bunching around the two straps just above his hips. The soldier elbowed a member of one of your squads. “I’m willing to put some coin down that Section Commander Smith will win this one!”
“You’re on!”
You glanced over at Erwin, hairs falling over your face as you remained perfectly still. His palms shifted on the floor as his forearms shook with the slightest tension.
“Hanji’s going to have to let you go eventually,” you teased. Erwin was too deep in concentration to even look at you. Hanji released his knees tentatively, but it was only a matter of seconds before Erwin began to tilt and clatter to the ground.
A volley of cheers and exclamations of disappointment resounded from the surrounding troops as money was exchanged and drinks continued to pour. You elegantly placed your feet back onto the floor, dismounting from your handstand with far more grace than Erwin had. Although, he hardly performed a one to begin with.
“Sorry.” Hanji bowed their head sheepishly as Erwin picked himself off the floor, dusting off his pants as he did so. The corners of his lips threatened to tug upwards.
“I don’t think it was happening, anyway,” he resigned with a shrug. He offered Hanji a curt nod. “Thank you for your assistance.”
“How do you like that, Smith?” you bellowed, arms raised in the air to garner affirmation from your squads. You polished off your umpteenth ale of the night before you were hoisted onto the shoulders of your subordinates. Erwin tongued the inside of his lower lip, the corners of his mouth pinched in a playfully bitter smirk. “Have you had enough? Because if you have, you can just admit right here that I’m the better section commander.”
“I’m going to get you back on this next one.” He gestured curtly in the air in front of him before crossing his arms. Erwin cast his gaze toward the ceiling, unable to help the continued feeling of awkwardness that coated his chest.
He had never been one for parties—quiet social gatherings, yes, or the odd schmoozing of political figures, but this. Time seemed to stop as Erwin took in the laughing, cheering faces of his squad members around him.
They were laughing at him, getting increasingly more drunk in the presence of their new section commander. And he couldn’t help but wonder why he didn’t consider that fact more outrageous, for certainly nothing in the Survey Corps was a laughing matter.
Erwin felt a nudge to his side. He glanced down toward Hanji, whose eyes followed your celebration with a certain warmness. They didn’t even peak out from behind their bangs as they spoke just loudly enough to be heard over the crowd.
“You’re smiling.” They rocked on their heels. “It’s a good look for you.”
Erwin wavered, blinking to himself as his subtle unconscious smile faltered. Hanji continued to observe the celebration, a soft expression on their face. Erwin’s head bowed, bobbing with a few nods. He chuckled to himself, the light shell of his smile etching dimples into his cheeks.
***
“Why?” he had asked you when you proposed the very idea of a party. Erwin had stalled, practically sputtering the word as his eyebrows knitted in perplexment. He had looked at you as if you were absolutely daft, even as your shining eyes stared into his with giddiness.
“The squads deserve to be celebrated,” you stated matter-of-factly. Erwin held his stern expression, unconvinced. He frowned, turning his attention back to his task.
“The squads haven’t changed anything but their leadership.” His words caused you to drop your cordial smile. You looped your thumbs on the straps of your uniform as you shifted your weight on your back leg. Your bottom leaned on the armrest of the couch behind you.
“And as new leaders, don’t you think we should, you know, boost morale? Build some interpersonal relationships?” You watched as Erwin rose from where he knelt, leaving a box of books that still needed to be organized on the shelf beside his desk. Various boxes of papers and personal effects littered the wooden surface.
“I don’t know about you, Section Commander, but I’ve already committed the information from my subordinate’s files to memory,” he said, a hand hovering over a cardboard box. “Our new squads will build relationships with us as their leaders.” You sat up with a pout, maneuvering your feet back to the ground, sitting up straight.
“Memorizing a picture is hardly a morale booster.”
“Perhaps a rousing peroration, then.”
“Erwin.”
“You’re not a part of the herd anymore,” he stated sternly with a single nod. Erwin rested his palms behind him on the surface of his desk, letting his head tilt to the side with a sigh. You watched as he blinked. Erwin exhaled your name as his bright blue eyes fluttered open again. “Your new squads will trust your leadership, your skill, as well as your word as you lead them outside.”
You let out a slow and steady stream of air as you leaned to the side to lounge on the back cushion of the couch. Your elbow dug into the stiff fabric. Your palm propped up your head. Erwin stretched, something loud cracking from his neck.
“I know the point you’re trying to make, but—” You gazed off toward the bookshelf Erwin had stopped filling. —“I can be the best at anything in a professional sense, but would they be able to trust us on the ground?” You met Erwin’s eye. Your knuckles grazed against your cheek. “You can memorize their files, but can they count on your humanity?”
Erwin puffed to himself. The single word lit up his face in morbid curiosity. He brushed a hand over his chin. His finger jutted out to trace his bottom lip as he thought to himself. One of his pads absentmindedly fixated on a patch he missed while shaving.
“I think this less had to do with humanity and more to do with you wanting a night out,” he jested, but the ponderance on Erwin’s face remained. You stood.
“Whether you think it belongs in this line of work or not, I don’t think spending some time with them would be such a bad idea.”
Erwin stared as you stood in front of him. He knew that determined glint in your eye anywhere. You hadn’t lost your glimmer since your cadet years. Erwin heaved himself back into an upright position, not forgetting the unpacking he still had to do.
“I’ll think about it,” he resigned, and you smiled. You knew what that meant because you knew him just as well as he knew you.
***
The back doors burst open, causing a break in the boisterous noise.
Erwin pulled up two low stools, dragging them to the center of the manmade circle just in time for Miche to arrive with a rolling cart. He rolled it straight to Erwin, who tossed a seat to the other side. Erwin took his place on the white side of the chess board, arms crossed and a smug look about him.
And the pub absolutely lost it.
“Oh, fuck, it just got real!” The gathering of soldiers resounded in gasps and astonished cries, jumping up and down amongst each other as Erwin’s squads scrambled to make bets. Miche togged the cart’s breaks down with his boot. The carved and polished stone pieces hardly budged. They looked heavy.
“You’re kidding…” You gawked from the game board to the mischievous glint in Erwin’s eye. He hitched the heel of his boot on the bottom rung of his stool, resting his head on his folded knuckles. You blinked at the sight as he waited patiently for you to join. “Are you serious?”
“I thought I got to pick the next round,” Erwin said, unable to help the cockiness that laced his words. He shrugged, shifting in his seat with anticipation. “Or are you shy because you know you’ll lose?”
You only stared a moment more before you downed the rest of the ale in your cup, shoving the empty tankard to one of your new subordinates. You immediately took your place in front of the black pieces, fueled by a fury of determination.
“Best two out of three?” You took the initiative of making the first move. Erwin’s shoulders bobbed in amusement, not fighting you on the decision as he moved his piece. You didn’t hesitate to respond as the turn bounced back and forth between you.
“I don’t think that’s up to you, considering it’s my challenge.”
Erwin took your bishop. You were already losing.
“I thought you’d pick a drinking game or arm wrestling, not sending Miche to get your chess set.” You blinked at the board, shaking your head as you made your next move. Erwin immediately took that piece, replacing it with his knight. “I don’t know how you can even focus.”
“I didn’t realize there were rules,” he snarked, clearing out another volley of your pieces. You were suffering heavy losses, especially compared to the three pieces of Erwin’s that sat on your side of the board. “It doesn’t hurt that I haven’t had as much to drink as you have.” He shrugged, not even hiding the snicker that hissed through his teeth.
“Playing dirty, huh?” You took one of his pawns.
“Just playing to my surroundings.”
“Sure.”
Erwin beat you three-for-three, concluding the last of your slew of competitions for the night. It was late when the excitement began to die down. Several members of your squads cleaned up what they could, gathering trash and leftover drinks neatly together for the employees whom you tipped a gracious amount of money.
A few soldiers from Erwin’s squad offered him a few salutes on their way out. Soldiers from yours gave you some pats on the back, thanking you for a fun night out. Erwin swept the floors until an employee took the broom from him after a few meek attempts.
“That’s… not necessary,” the poor girl said. You laughed, ushering him out of the pub with one last thanks to the workers.
You stood out on the street together, almost reeling from what happened. You let out a deep sigh, hands on your hips as you stared at the sky. Erwin had his chess set tucked under his arm, the board itself a thin box containing the neatly organized pieces. His forehead was slick with sweat. The first three buttons of his shirt had become undone somewhere over the course of the night.
You caught each other in an inadvertent glance. Erwin’s hair was messy.
“I guess you’re the better section commander after all.” You held out your hand, much to Erwin’s surprise. You cocked your head at his moment of hesitancy, a warm smile on your lips. He grasped your hand firmly, his palms clammy. He had a professional shake, even tipsy. You wouldn’t expect any less.
“It was all just fun,” Erwin deflected, diplomatic as usual. The word sounded so foreign coming out of his mouth.
“You’re just saying that because you won,” you scoffed, stepping out into the street. Erwin followed you down the cobblestone.
“It was all just fun,” he repeated, taking a few long strides to catch up with you. Erwin stopped you, a ghost of a touch barely grazing your wrist. You stood alone, just the two of you on the silent road. “You made it possible.”
“It took a lot of convincing,” you muttered with a bob of your eyebrows.
“It was smart. You made a strategic call at a time that mattered.” The moon shone high overhead amongst a clear sky, casting beams that lit up Erwin’s eyes and the street below. His nose cast a distinct shadow across his cheek as he stood in front of you, one of few times you had ever witnessed him unkempt. “You’ll make a fine section commander. Your squads are lucky to have you.”
You cast your gaze to the ground.
“Thank you, Erwin.”
Tall shadows morphed over the faces of buildings for the entire stretch you walked across Trost. You made the trek in relative silence until you made it back. Lit lanterns cast a warm glow onto the street in front of the barracks in a complimentary contrast to the silvery shimmer of the night.
Erwin immediately began to depart, peeling away as he headed toward his quarters. Something inside you sank with disappointment as you watched him leave your peripheral. You turned in the opposite direction.
But you didn’t hesitate to turn as you heard your name. Erwin stood on a set of steps, the top of his head almost disappearing onto the above level.
“I’ll see you for drills tomorrow,” he called, “But be aware, I am certain my squads will out-perform yours.” You could still see the deep dimples on his cheeks, even from a distance away. You gave an exaggerated roll of your eyes.
“Yeah, right.” You shook your head, pointing in his direction. “You’re on.”
You both departed, retiring to bed to start your first day as commanding officers together.
Thank you to all who liked, reblogged, followed, and supported. Your support means so much and is greatly appreciated.

Out in the Cold (Part Five)
M Orc x M Troll (Hulder) Reader
PREVIOUS || STORY TAG || NEXT
Wordcount: 3631
Content Warnings: None
Sorry for such a long gap, I had a crippling bout of writer’s block and then it was suddenly a month later. But I’m pleased to announce I haven’t forgotten how to write :)
You look down warily at the creature scratching at the base of the tree you’re perched in.
This little guy is nothing like that one scary hexopard etched in your memory- the one that supplied the material for your beloved winter cloak.
You sigh at the sight of the creature’s plush fur. You left that cloak behind when you fled the settlement, despite it being one of your favorite belongings. It just didn't feel right to take it with you after… everything… but the biting cold is really making you wish you had caved and brought it along anyway.
This smaller hexopard’s scavenging around for food at its leisure, driven to snack on anything it can get its hands on easily to bulk up for the coming hibernation, but it’s not in a hurry.
Because it’s not currently driven mad by post-hibernation hunger and aggression, you can probably distract it enough that it won’t view you as a tasty morsel to snack on and you’ll be able to slip away. You just need something enticing enough to hold its interest…
Then, looking down at its twitching nose, you realize that its sensitive sense of smell has probably picked up on the dried venison jerky in your pack. Your theory is all but confirmed when you pull out the pouch where your rations are from within, and you swear you can see its eyes light up.
“Alright, buddy. Follow these and not me, okay?” You say, looking for a good place to toss them. Then, you wind up your arm as best you can in your position, and chuck the pouch into the woods in the opposite direction.
The hexopard immediately lets off the tree and lumbers after the pouch, tail swishing behind it as it loudly crashes unbidden through the underbrush.
After a few moments of observation, you slip down the tree gingerly, hoping to not become more interesting than the alluring scent of dried meat. When you get to the bottom, you’re relieved to see the creature so fully engrossed in your ration pouch that you might as well not exist any longer, its snout fully covered as it roots in the opening of the leather. You sneak off quietly while you still have the chance.
Once you get far enough away, you resume your trek at a faster pace. After another hour or so of traveling, you grin from ear to fluffy ear as the sight of the river comes into view.
Salvation.
Your pace picks up without you even thinking about it, your morale boosted by something going right for once. Your tail curls behind you in a delight.
You’re not exactly thrilled at having to give up your only food supplies; yet you’re alive and no longer lost, and that seems like a pretty good trade-off.
Now, all that’s left is to follow the river back to town. Then, this whole ordeal will be over. You’ll be back to your old life, though now enjoying the increase in station in the guild pulling off such a momentous task surely will earn you. Who knows, maybe they’ll even splurge on a feast to celebrate!
Now that does sound good right now.
Think about something else, you urge yourself. You need to force yourself to stop, lest your mouth start watering. Anything else… The grumbling of your stomach is distracting enough already.
But it’s no use, you’ve fallen down the mental rabbit hole, and now only thinking of all the things you’d like to eat when you get back. You’re swept up in thoughts of whole roasted suckling pig and honeyed chestnut sweetbread… braised venison with cherry glaze and grilled root vegetables… seeded crackers with soft cheese and over-slathered with homemade berry jam…
Hell, you’ll even take marinated eggs right now…
You wipe your mouth on your sleeve. It takes you a moment for it to sink in, but those are all things that you’ve been eating at the stronghold that you’re craving, not things you miss from home. All of your memories of food you miss from the past are so fuzzy. It’s hard to remember anything of note, past vague, smeared memories of nostalgic meals you ate when you were very young.
And when you get back… you probably won’t eat Orcish food again. At least not for a while.
It’s… fine.
You’ll be home, soon. And you won’t have to think about any of this ever again.
LAST SPRING
“Surely there’s something I can help you with.” Your tail swishes in agitation behind you, a clearly visible indicator of your emotional state. “You’re just being difficult.”
“Urgh- Don’t you have something better to do than bug me?” Torg rumbles, running his good hand down his face in annoyance. "Work to finish? Anything?"
His arm is still in a sling from the hunting incident. And true to his nature, he's being an absolute ass about accepting any help.
"I've already filled my quota today." You say smugly, hands planted on your hips. It's one of the rare days you've finished early and without incident, and you're quite pleased with yourself about it.
"Good, you should be off enjoying the nice weather while it’s here, rather than nagging me in this stuffy office."
"Just let me help you, you stubborn oaf!" You lean over the desk, slapping your hands down on the papers in front of him. Your loosely laced shirt hangs off you a bit with the movement. The new clothes you had made for the warm weather don’t quite fit you as close as you typically wear your shirts- the tailors here still aren’t quite used to your non-orc proportions.
Torg simply stares down at you in perturbed silence. You’ve gotten much more comfortable with the way you communicate with Torg since the hunting trip, but he is your superior. For a moment, you wonder if you’ve gone too far..
"...Torg?"
"...Fine." He grumbles, now looking at anything but you.
He really must be prideful if accepting your help makes him this uncomfortable…
"Shop taxes are due, but I don't think I'll have time to visit each one today." He makes a list of names on a sheet of paper. "You can knock out some of the collections for me."
"You're trusting me with handling funds?" You scoff.
"When you put it like that you're really making me second guess it." He chuckles, but slides the paper across to you nonetheless. "But I do trust you, if you can believe it. They'll already have the gold ready in pouches. You just have to collect them and bring them back here."
"Alright. Leave it to me." You take the paper with a grin, filled with a sense of victory at having convinced him to let you help.
He grunts and goes back to what he was doing.
You can barely refrain from rubbing your hands together in glee on your way out. If the big man of the settlement trusts you with funds of all things, it looks like you're making progress towards your goal. Maybe having a reason to poke around more shops will give you more of an idea of where the item you're looking for is…
The first stop is close enough: a short walk to the tailor's shop, nearby in the middle of the settlement.
"Good afternoon ladies!" You say cheerily as you enter the colorful shop. Granny Ghorza is taking a break from her loom, sweeping the floor instead. She's become one of your favorite orcs here; she’s a funny old bat and makes the best sweets in the whole settlement, to boot. "The good looks must really run in the family."
Her young adult granddaughter manning the counter balks a little at the blatant flirting, but gives you a courteous smile. She's a nice enough woman, though shy and a bit forgettable. Her name eludes you at the moment…
"Mmhm, and how are your new spring shirts fitting dearie? I might have to add some modesty stitches if you're going to wear it unlaced like that, ohohoh!" She cackles, using the broom handle to pull at the front of your partially open, billowy shirt. "Looks a little breezy, you might catch a cold- or worse, someone’s attention, eheheh!”
"Ahah- They fit perfectly fine, thank you!" You act scandalized, pinching the gaping collar closed and pressing the broom handle away, before you turn to approach the counter.
"Um, what brings you here today? I don't think you have any orders waiting to be picked up..." Ghorza's granddaughter says meekly with a polite smile, looking through the ledger book at the counter. "Your items are… hard to forget, since they don't use up much fabric…"
"Ah, I'm here to collect your tax dues." You explain. "Since Boss is still healing."
"Oh. So… He isn't coming today, then…?" The young woman asks, in a curiously forlorn tone.
"Afraid not. Though, I assure you I am perfectly capable of safely transporting a gold pouch." You say and let out a friendly laugh.
"I see, I see. About time the man let someone give him a hand once in a while." Ghorza gives you a toothless smile. "Would you be a dear get him the dues, Murgol? The pouch is ready in the top drawer."
Murgol twists the hem of her shirt in her hands in displeasure, looking like she's about to break into tears at any moment. Then her lip quivers, and she unceremoniously flees the room, sniffling.
There’s an awkward moment of silence that seems to stretch out far too long for your liking before Ghorza speaks again.
"Mmgh, that girl…" Ghorza shakes her head in reproach.
"Is she… going to be alright?" Clearly something upset her quite badly, but you don't think you said anything that egregious… "I hope I didn't offend her…?"
"Oh, don't worry about it. She's sensitive when things don't go her way, but she'll live." She shuffles behind the counter, hobbling into her granddaughter's previous spot. "Let me get you the gold, dearie."
You leave the tailor shop, eating a slice of candied apricot-studded sweetbread that Ghorza definitely forced on you and you only took because you were guilted into taking. You scratch the tailor’s family name off your list as you reflect on the strange interaction with the seamstresses.
You like to think you're quite astute when it comes to social intelligence, but you just can't put your finger on what may have been the trigger of her outburst.
Oh well. Perhaps she's just going through something personal?
You put the interaction out of your mind and head to the next place on your list.
You walk into the blacksmith's next. Luckily she doesn't seem to be too busy as the shop is currently devoid of customers, with her hammering out something at the anvil.
You’ve been friendly with her ever since prepping for the hunting trip. Apparently Lurog and her are good friends, and she was kind enough to let you use her shop to create the arrowheads you needed for your trial. You buy them directly from her now, chatting a while every time you come to replenish your supply.
"Hello Burzgob," You speak up so she can hear above the metal clanking. "Amazing job you're doing there."
“Thanks, little guy. I'm guessing you're not here to buy? Don’t think you used up all those arrowheads from the other day already. …At least I hope."
"Nope, I'm here to collect tax dues. I'm helping Boss out since he's still injured. Two hands better than one, or so they say."
She guffaws, setting the hammer down and pulling her gloves off before wiping her hands on her apron.
"Oh, damn. I was expecting him to be the one to drop by." She rubs her cheek with the back of her hand, still managing to smear soot there as well. “Bummer.”
"Spirits, you're not the first to feel that way today!" You say in exasperation. "I'm starting to think no one wants to see me…"
"Hahah! Nothing personal, trust me!" She grins and pats your shoulder, getting soot on your shirt as well. "Had something I needed to ask him."
"Oh, I see." You nod, and without missing a beat, nonchalantly add; "About what?"
"Hah! So nosy! Sorry, little guy. I like you, but it's a secret."
"Drat. Well, I tried…" You let out a performative sigh and shrug.
"Hey, uh… you're pretty close with Boss though, right?"
…Are you…?
You hadn't really considered it before, but over the course of training and especially after the hunting trip, you've definitely gotten used to his presence. You have something akin to a friendship now; or at least, what must look like one from a spectator's point of view. He’s quick to help you with anything, but he seems to be that way with all of the people in his charge. Though, at the very least, he trusts you enough to let you help him with this task, when asking for help with his own tasks seems to be something he does very seldomly..
"I suppose you could say that." You conclude.
"Can you deliver something to him for me, since you're going back there anyway?"
"Sure, I don't see why not."
"Great! I owe you one, bud." Burzgob's face lights up as she grins, the silver caps on her tusks glinting. She returns and hands you a tied bundle with a letter tucked under the string. It smells like perfume. "Uh, promise you won’t read it, okay?"
You fervently promise you won’t, then bid her goodbye and leave the blacksmith's.
You have a similar experience at the tanner's, then the baker’s… and then the chandler’s…
Somehow, this seemingly easy task has left you feeling like a withered corpse. Luckily for you, however, seeing which family runs the last business on the list fills you with a sense of ease.
The shop bell jingles as you enter, and you’re immediately awash with the pleasant scent of soap, as well as a heady mix of any sort of cosmetic salve, wax or powder you can think up.
Your self care routine took a little adjustment, being out in the wilds, now. So many of their products were completely foreign to you at first. But despite the slight learning curve, you’ve honestly never felt better. You weren’t exactly taking the best care of yourself while hopping from flophouse to flophouse that belonged to your guild; you barely had the resources to keep yourself fed, let alone buying overpriced soaps and perfumes. But here, things aren’t too expensive, despite being handmade and about as locally sourced as something can be.
Lurog is sitting behind the counter of her family's salon, seemingly counting out the till while the shop is closing down for the evening around her.
"Hey." If she's surprised to see you, she doesn't show it. "We're closed. But if you want your hair done I can do it for you when I'm done here."
"Oh, is that Boss?" You hear one of Lurog's several younger sisters call out from farther inside the shop.
"Is he finally here?!" Another one chimes in and peeks her head around the divider.
"No! False alarm." A third one sweeping her station sighs. "Just the little kitty cat."
You quirk an eyebrow at the reception, but everyone but Lurog has gone back to chatting over their tasks.
"I might just take you up on that offer, I'm getting a little scraggly… Not what I'm here for, though. Boss sent me to collect your dues."
Lurog nods in understanding, but your attention is on the loud, spirited gossiping in the shop behind her as the women discuss their displeasure at this development amongst themselves.
"Don't mind them." Lurog shakes her head in admonishment. "They're just mad because they wanted the chance to flirt with Boss."
“Flirt?” You scoff. “Taxes really get their motors running, huh?”
“Hah.” Lurog rolls her eyes. “No, they’re just all desperate to find men to torment.”
"Oh." You say, wheels starting to turn in your head. "Do you think that's what's going on with everywhere else I've stopped today too…?"
"Wouldn't doubt it. Boss would be a catch for a lot of the women in the stronghold." Lurog says simply, retrieving the gold pouch and sliding it to you over the counter. "Midsummer festival's coming up. Big time for romance. But Boss is either real picky or just not into it. Hasn’t taken any of them up on the offer yet… But he also hasn’t explicitly turned anyone down.”
“Ah, but then… Why are they all still asking? Wouldn’t he just ask who he’d like to and be done with it, if he wanted to court anyone?”
“Because with orcs it’s up to the one that’s gonna be taking it-“ She smirks and makes an incredibly crude gesture with her hands. “To ask to start the courtship, or whatever you wanna call it.”
“Really now?” You feel your eyebrows raise in curiosity. “Why is that?”
“Unh-uh.” Lurog shrugs. ”Just how we do it, I guess."
Well, that certainly explains why you haven’t been getting invitations to share anyone’s bed, despite being as gorgeous and alluring as you are. What would a full-fledged orc want from you, with so many massive, hunky orc men around to choose from?
But that means you have the power to try to lure a man in.
Hmm… if you were to ask out one of the right orcs, you might have better access to off limits areas for your search…
Lurog must notice the spark of an idea in your eye of how to use your newfound power, because she quickly adds; "You should wait until the festival to harass any men. Better success rate."
“You know, you’re actually very helpful when you want to be.” You grin at her. “It’s a shame you don’t often want to be.”
“Thanks.” She snorts in a deadpan tone. “I wish I could say the same.”
You finish your friendly ribbing with Lurog, more than ready to haul back the large rucksack of gold and the almost nearly as large, cumbersome pile of offerings for Torg, and be done with this task.
You can't help but get into your own head about what's happened during this excursion while you make your way back. You can feel the irritation growing the more you dwell on it, your tail twitching behind you.
All of the shop owners on your list were women. Specifically, women that seem to be interested in Torg. It seems far too unlikely to be a coincidence- you doubt that many of the shops in the settlement are run by eligible women fawning over Torg.
More importantly, why does it upset you so much?
Jealousy…? Because you’re lonely?
It must be that- because he apparently has a queue of women asking to court him when none of the male orcs in the settlement even look at you twice.
…Right. That must be all it is.
You're still a bit grumpy about it as you return to Torg's office.
"Here you are." You set down the pack with the gold pouches inside and the bundle of gifts on his desk with a heavy sigh.
"Thanks for the help." He says, then noticing your clearly negative mood, he looks up from his task. "I hope it wasn't too much of a pain."
"No, it was easy enough.” You grumble, and go on to quip as you nonchalantly examine your cuticles; “Though… if you wanted me to host a meeting of your fanclub, you could've just asked."
"That bad?" He looks genuinely sheepish, scratching the edge of his beard.
"It was pretty bad." You put your hands on your hips, deciding that you'll give him a bit more of a hard time. "A lot of disappointed ladies giving me shit for not being you."
"I'm sorry. If I knew it would bother you, I wouldn't have given you that task."
"Apology accepted, but it seems…” You make a noise in disgust. “A tad unkind to lead so many people on like this, doesn’t it? It's not like you at all."
"I'm- Ugh. I'm not leading anyone on. At least I'm not trying to-" He runs a hand through his hair in discomfort. "I am Chieftain, I can't have so many of my people holding a grudge against me for rejecting them romantically. It would be disruptive, so I thought it would be best for me to just ignore any of these crushes some of the younger women have on me."
"It must be difficult being so popular with the ladies…" You say dryly.
"Hey, poke fun all you want, but it can be. Someone will be hurt regardless of what choice I make."
"Why not… Oh, I don’t know… pick one, then, and get it over with? Then the ones you don't pick can accept it and move on, rather than holding onto false hope."
"It's not that simple…"
"It sure seems like it is!" You chuckle. "How is it not the simplest thing?"
"Because I am not interested in any of them."
"You're telling me you have your pick of half of the young, gorgeous Orcish women in this stronghold throwing themselves at your feet," You lean over the desk and gesture to the bag of offerings on his desk. "And not one of them meets your standards?"
"No." He says heavily, clearly weary from the ongoing nature of this conversation. “Are you satisfied? Can you end this interrogation now?”
"...Okay." You relent, incredulous, but still accept his words. You've grilled him enough, you suppose.
A small smile has taken up residence on your face. Did you really enjoy hassling him that much…?

Masterlist / Part 1
By 2 pm on Wednesday, you were counting down the seconds until you could clock out for the long weekend. Even though you’d cleared a lot of your workload throughout the week, it seemed like every one of your clients was having some sort of emergency that desperately needed attention before the end of the day, and you were done.
You’d splurged on an iced coffee after lunch for an extra boost, having it delivered instead of going down to the cafeteria for one of the basic ones, and even though it was down to mostly half-melted ice cubes, it had distracted you some. “But not enough.”
Lowering your head onto your folded arms, you groaned as another new email came in, the little red flag next to it most likely unwarranted. “You, uh, doing alright in here?”
The sound of Din’s voice made you raise your head, spinning in your chair so that you could look at the doorway - and him. “Din? What are you -”
“I’m on my way back to my office. Just finished reinstalling the VPN on that new guy’s computer.” He paused, shifting his weight to the other foot, one hip jutting out. “Something Vanth? I don’t know his first name, all that was on the work order was the initial.” Din paused for long enough to look past you at the computer screen, and you saw him wince at the sight of your open email client. “Looks like you’ve got a full inbox.”
“I do. I’m halfway tempted to unplug the power cord and then not reach out to my IT guy until ten minutes before the day’s over.” He laughed, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he stepped fully into your office.
“You could just do what the one lady in sales did last week.” He moved closer, spinning your chair again so you were facing your desk before leaning over your shoulder and pointing at one of the buttons on your laptop’s keyboard. “Just press that button and turn off your trackpad. There’s no light that goes off or anything, so it’s impossible to know what changed without someone taking a thorough look at it.”
His proximity stunned you. Not only was his physical presence imposing - the man’s weight leaning against the back of your chair, along with the underside of his arm brushing against your shoulder - but you were shocked that the air in the room felt different when he was there, too. Are you thorough, Din?
You were still frustrated and exhausted, but you were smiling, the scent of Din’s cologne - spicy and slightly woodsy - thick in your nose. Before answering him, you turned your head and closed your eyes, inhaling. He smells good. Really good. “You being here now defeats the purpose, though.” Finally finding your voice, you sighed. “All you’d have to do is press it again, and then I’d be right back where I started.”
“Now you know for next time.” He straightened up, keeping the hand on the back of your chair. “And since you’re busy I won’t stay too long, I just figured I’d stop in and see what time you wanted to meet on Saturday. I know the thing starts at 7, but I didn’t know if you wanted to meet there, or -”
“That’s probably the best plan.” Sighing, you tapped your fingers on your desktop before looking back over your shoulder at him. “It’s about the same distance from both of our houses, so there’s no point in going out of the way just so we can take the same car.” You shrugged. “That way if we lose horribly, we don’t have to drive back together in angry silence.” He smiled again, nodding. “Got plans for tomorrow?”
“I’m going to catch up on sleep.” He took a long breath, watching you closely. “Make dinner for the two of us, and then just lay on the couch all day in my sweatpants.”
“That sounds amazing.” It did - even though you loved your family, you wouldn’t have said no to the opportunity to do the same as Din - and the idea of spending the day with him and Grogu was more than appealing. Sweatpants? I … “What about Friday? Are you going to the tree lighting? They flip the switch at about 8.”
“I heard about that.” He wet his lips. “Thought about it.”
“You should. Bring Grogu. A lot of people take their dogs. It’s busy but not packed, and he seems like he’s really well behaved when you’re giving him commands, so…”
“Are you going?” You watched his fingers flex against his biceps, your eyes drawn to the movement before they moved up, locking with his. They were warm once again, studying you with an intensity that surprised you, and you knew that there was something else he wanted to ask, but hadn’t.
“I am. My friend Stacy and her husband are going. We’re meeting our other friend Cara for dinner beforehand. She lives a couple hours away now, but always comes home for the holidays, so it’s kind of tradition.” You didn’t add that for the previous three years, James had been there, too, but you figured that he knew just the same. “If you go, let me know. I’d love to see the little… what’d you call him? Whump rat?”
“Womp rat.” Din’s lips twitched. “Just something I heard as a kid, and it fits perfectly for him.”
“I’d love to see the little womp rat again, Din. There are vendors that set up on the street, and some of them usually sell dog treats, so I think he’d have fun, too.”
“Hmm.” He nodded, closing his eyes briefly. “Good to know.” Din sighed then and squinted at your screen. “I should let you get back to work. I’m pretty sure you’ve gotten a couple more emails since I’ve been standing here.” I know. Don’t remind me. You groaned at his words, covering your face with both hands.
“What button did I need to push again?” He laughed as he turned away, heading for the door. “Din? Is it the one with the -”
“Have a good Thanksgiving. I’ll see you later this week.” He paused in the doorway, one hand rising to grip the wooden frame before he turned at the waist, grinning at you. “Don’t start pressing random buttons on your laptop, alright?” There was a challenge in his voice, one eyebrow arched so high that it all but disappeared into a wavy lock of his hair that hung down over his forehead.
“Is it this one?” Reaching behind you, you jabbed blindly at a key. “Or this one? What about -”
“Stop touching things.” He rolled his eyes at you before he narrowed them playfully. “I’m not going to help you.” Keeping a neutral expression on your face, you pushed a third button and Din rolled his eyes again, muttering the word “unbelievable” under his breath before exiting the room completely, his hand lingering on the wooden doorframe until the last possible second.
“I’ll see you on Friday, Din!” You called after him but he didn’t reply, and when you turned back to your computer, you were smiling, despite the fact that he was right and there were more emails that had come in. “That was a nice distraction.”
Admitting it was a lot easier than you’d thought it would be, and when you reached for your cup and sucked the straw between your lips, even the taste of the watered down coffee wasn’t enough to sour your mood.
—
Near the end of dinner Friday, you got a message that didn’t include any text. It was just a picture, and when you opened it, you nearly dropped your phone.
Clumsily grabbing for the device before it hit the table, you didn’t even try to stop your sharp intake of breath, Stacy cutting her husband off mid-sentence to ask you what was wrong. “Nothing’s wrong…it’s just…”
Turning the phone toward her, you chewed on your lower lip. Her eyes widened and she reached out with a fingertip, tapping the screen. “Who’s that?”
“Grogu. Din’s dog. It looks…” You sighed. “It looks like they’re downtown, which means he’s here for the tree lighting.” Like I told him he should be. “Wonder if I’ll run into them.”
“He sent you the picture so that obviously means he wants you to know where it is.” Cara sipped her beer, leaning back in her seat. “I think that means he’s hoping to see you.”
“I agree.” Stacy’s smile widened as you pulled your phone back toward you, eyes on the screen - and the image of the dog staring into the camera, mouth open and tongue hanging out with the familiar sight of the town square’s decorations partially visible behind him. “You’re downtown. They’re downtown. Does he know you’re here?”
“He does. I told him the other day he should come, but he never said whether or not he’d decided to, and…” Trailing off, you let the screen go dark. “I didn’t know.”
“Now you do.” Cara cleared her throat, turning in her seat to signal for your server to bring the check to the table. “And we’re about to pay, which means in less than ten minutes you will also be at the town square.”
“Cara, it -”
“What?” She took the booklet from the woman when it was handed to her, not even looking before she stuffed her credit card into it and then handed it back. “You’re going to say it isn’t that simple? That you don’t know if you’ll see them?” She thanked the waitress quietly before returning the gaze of her dark eyes to you. “Sometimes it is that simple. I haven’t been around much lately, but you’re single. He’s single. It’s been a couple weeks since you and James have even spoken, even though he’s still living here. You wouldn’t be doing anything wrong. And it’s not like I’m suggesting you marry him, but when the hot guy with the cute dog sends you a picture of said cute dog being extraordinarily adorable out of nowhere… you should go with it.”
The four of you sat there in stunned silence at her outburst, the chatter of the other restaurant patrons loud in your ears. She’s right, but… “Can I say something?” Joseph - Stacy’s husband - cleared his throat. “I never really liked James, and I think Cara’s right.”
“What?” In disbelief, you leaned in, mouth dropping open. “I was with him for years. We always went out places together. I had no idea. I -”
“I wasn’t allowed to say anything.” He sighed. “Stacy told me I couldn’t be a dick about it because the two of you were together, so I tolerated him the same way she did. But man was it hard sometimes.” He went quiet as Cara’s card and the receipt came back, the woman taking it and then signing it with a flourish. “I don’t know this Din at all, but Cara’s got a point. There’s no reason for you not to have fun this year. You finally have a real partner for this competition and won’t have to pull the dead weight, and it sounds like this guy is…” He trailed off, searching for the right word, and his wife supplied it for him, reaching out to cover his hand with her own.
“Worth it.” She grinned at you, eyes full of mischief. “And you know it.”
From the limited interactions you’d had with Din, you agreed, but you knew that there was more to him that you didn’t know - and that you had to be careful. “I’ll text him back.” You held up a finger to interrupt both women, whose mouths opened to respond to you. “On one condition.” Lips pressed together, they stayed quiet, waiting. “The two of you cannot intervene in this. Whatever happens, I want it to happen because Din and I are -”
“Deal.” Stacy held up both hands, nodding. “As long as you do something. I just don’t want to sit here and watch you pass up on a good thing because you’re still thinking about James or worrying about what might happen later on.”
“I have a condition, too.” Of course you do. Cara stuck her tongue into her cheek and narrowed her eyes. “Don’t just keep this about the competition. Get to know him. You have what, five nights with him over the course of the next month after tonight?” Nodding in agreement, you eyed her, waiting for the other boot to drop. “I will sit back and let you blow it if that’s what it comes down to, as long as I can see that you’re making an attempt not to let that happen.”
You laughed at her, the woman’s expression serious, but soon enough all four of you were grinning as you stood from the table, putting your coats on. “Alright, Cara, Stacy. I will try to get to know Din. I will try to make it about more than the competition. I will try to let myself… connect with him, if that’s what he wants.” Joseph winked at you, wetting his lips.
“Shouldn’t you start by telling him you’re heading over to the tree lighting, then?” Stacy rose onto her toes and kissed his cheek, the man’s arms going around her waist. “You did just promise my wife that - “
Grumbling as you zipped your jacket, you reached for your phone and opened Din’s message, hesitating briefly before you typed a reply.
We just finished dinner and are heading over to the square. Are you and Grogu still around?
Flicking the phone from silent to not, you pressed send - all four of you hearing the confirmation as the message was delivered. “Happy?” Cara was - you could see it in her eyes, and even Stacy looked relieved. You understood that - she’d been around during the breakdown of your relationship and the immediate aftermath, and had seen how the changes had impacted you. And she’ll see this too. She’ll see how …
Your thoughts interrupted by an incoming message sound and a vibration in your hand, you bit your lip at Din’s reply.
We are. There somewhere we can wait for you?
It took only seconds for you to think of an answer, the words of your friends echoing in your head. It’s just a couple weeks. And he seems like a nice guy, even if he’s … withdrawn.
There’s a statue on Maple and Main outside of the parking garage… that might be a good place?
You followed your friends outside, not bothering to put the phone away while you waited to see Din’s response. And he started typing almost immediately, the little dots appearing on the screen before you’d even made it a few steps down the sidewalk.
We’ll be there. He was typing again, and then stopped… but to your surprise another message came through seconds later, almost like he’d sent it before he could stop himself. See you in a few.
—
You saw Din before he got eyes on you, and before you could even react, Cara was reacting for the group. “Holy shit, he’s good looking.” She whistled as you exited the garage and turned toward the statue, and the woman’s jaw dropped at the sight of the man and his dog. “How have you not shown me a picture of him before now?”
“He doesn’t have social media.” You shrugged, stuffing your hands into your pockets. “Actually, until he took a picture for the website the other night, I hadn’t even seen a picture of him, so…” It was a little strange but you couldn’t fault him for it; you had a few other friends without an online presence. But if he had one, it’d be easier to make friends.
The closer you got, the sharper the man’s details became, and you felt something building in your chest at the sight of him. It felt strangely like hope, the promise of something new and exciting, even though everything was an unknown. Getting to know the man over time and through a variety of different methods almost seemed like it was too good an opportunity to be true. But it’s not, because he’s… he’s right here.
Din was dressed comfortably though you could tell he was warm - a pair of dark jeans and boots, a puffy gray utility jacket, the light from above making it shine silver. It had a hood, but he wasn’t wearing it - instead he had a dark knit hat on, pulled low over his ears. But the hat couldn’t hide all of his hair, one longer lock curling out from under the band of it and over his eyebrow, much the same way it had in the office earlier in the week.
It makes him look younger. But you absolutely agreed with the remainder of Cara’s assessment of him, and when you were close enough, you took a deep breath and called out his name before you lost your nerve, drawing the man’s attention from the leashed dog at his feet.
He turned toward you almost immediately, lips curving upward into a smile as he said hello followed by your name. “You made it.” He’s never looked at me like that before.
“I did.” And I want him to do it again. Grogu was whining, the leash taut in Din’s hand as he attempted to get closer to you. For the moment, though, you ignored him, instead focusing on the man. “We did. Din, these are my friends.” Introducing them quickly, you were happy to see that he greeted each of them with genuine interest, reaching out to shake Joseph’s hand and telling Cara and Stacy that it was great to meet them.
“And this is Grogu. Like I told her the other night, he might bark a little bit, but he doesn’t bite.” Grogu’s tail wagged furiously as Stacy knelt down to pet him, Cara not far behind. While they exclaimed over the dog, you kept your attention on Din, surprised to see that the man wasn’t paying attention your friends and was instead focused on you, a tiny smirk still on his lips. “You were right.” He put his free hand on his hip. “We’ve seen more dogs tonight than I thought. Grogu’s loving all the new friends.”
“Good.” Casting a glance down, you took a step closer to the man as your friends kept petting the dog’s soft fur. “Did you find the vendors?”
“I thought I’d wait til you got here.” It was a simple statement, but it made your eyes widen nonetheless, Din’s casual shrug doing nothing to lessen the impact of his words. “Figured you could show us where the good ones were.”
“She can and she will.” Stacy stood, moving over to squeeze your elbow. “We’re going to go and find the hot chocolate.” Stacy, what are you doing? Leaving me here? You … But you realized that she was doing exactly what they’d promised to do: letting you lead, letting things evolve without their interference. “Text me later if you want.”
Assuring her that you would, you turned to say goodbye to Cara, too, catching the woman’s eye - and the look in it. I know. I know, Cara. “It was nice to meet you.” Din raised one hand in a wave, the others saying goodbye shortly after. As they walked away, Stacy cast one last look over her shoulder at Grogu before they turned the corner and disappeared, leaving the three of you alone. “That was subtle.”
Din’s comment surprised you, your lips parting as your attention returned to him. “Din, it’s not like -”
“No, I get it.” He closed his eyes, scoffing. “Believe me, my… friends at home are the same way sometimes. I know how it is.”
You wanted to ask him more - to know about his friends and where he was from, but didn’t want to pry and so you didn’t risk it. You finally took your turn crouching down and greeting Grogu, both of your hands going to his face much like Din’s had the night at his house.
He licked your nose and inched even closer as you laughed, your hand moving back to his neck and shoulder. “Hey big guy.” He barked and then crowded against you, turning in a slow circle as you continued to pet him. “You’re excited tonight, hmm?”
“He is.” Din’s voice interrupted you and when you looked up, locking eyes with the man, you realized what position you were in. Shit. Your hands froze on Grogu, a single breath escaping from between your parted lips. Oh, this … You watched Din’s fingers flex; curling into loose fists as he watched you, and despite the brevity of the moment that passed between you, you couldn’t deny the heat that ignited in your belly at the sight of him above you. Stop it. Stop it now, this is … “If you …” Din finally spoke after drawing in a deep breath and blinking rapidly, breaking the tension. “If you ever want him to stop, say Gev. Down is daab.”
You repeated the words to yourself and then looked away from Din and back at the dog. You were skeptical that he’d listen to you, especially with Din so close. “Gev, Grogu.” Even though you spoke quietly, the single command was enough. He went still and then backed off, settling on his haunches next to Din’s legs. “Holy shit. Really?” You glanced up again and then stood, the smile on your face growing. “What… what language is that?”
“Mando’a.” He shrugged. “I learned it as a kid, and when I found Grogu, I wanted to make sure that he listened.” You started walking toward the center of town again, Din next to you. “How many people say stop or sit or down or no on a daily basis? So teaching him in a different language made sense.”
“It does.” You stepped closer to avoid a couple moving in the other direction, your elbow brushing against Din’s. “That’s smart. So now when he hears it, he knows you’re the one saying it, so he has to listen.”
“Yeah.” Din sighed, winding the leash a little tighter around his hand as the crowd materialized in front of you. “And he usually does.”
“Does he know any English commands?”
“He knows food and eat.” You laughed loudly at that, covering your mouth with one hand, eyes going back to the man next to you. “Walk. Outside.” Din looked down and then leaned closer to you, lowering his voice. “Treat.”
At that, Grogu barked, twisting around to face the two of you again, tongue lolling out of his mouth. “Oh, you definitely know that one, don’t you.” Both you and Din laughed, continuing the walk along the sidewalk and toward the tents that lined the street further down. “Maybe one of these booths will have something for you to snack on, buddy.” Pausing, you looked back up at Din. “If he’s allowed, I mean.”
“Of course he is.” Din grinned at you, the warmth in his expression chasing the chill from the air. “And he’s not too picky, so…”
You figured that the dog would eat just about anything, so the confirmation wasn’t much of a surprise. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to pick something good. You passed a few vendors - people selling Christmas ornaments and wreaths, hand-made blankets and carvings; even a few stands that were filled with soaps and candles.
You didn’t see anything for pets, but Din didn’t seem to mind much, the man asking you questions about some of the stands as you passed them. He’d shortened Grogu’s leash to keep him even closer, and you were happy to see that he was well-behaved, staying near the man’s side and not tugging to run ahead.
“You said they turn on the tree at 8?” He paused at the end of one set of tents turning to face you. “We’ve only got a little longer than half hour left.” Reaching into your pocket, you pulled out your phone and checked the time, finding that he was right. Shit.
“I didn’t realize it was so late, Din. I’m sorry.” I really am, because it means that I’ll have to leave sooner. “But yeah, it’s getting close. So we should find Grogu a snack and then -”
“And then maybe we should find some of that hot chocolate your friend mentioned for ourselves.” He elbowed you gently, shifting closer. “If it was good enough that they ran off right away to find it….” He trailed off and it made you laugh, the three of you beginning to move again, that time toward a smaller grouping of stands.
“It is good, Din.” You didn’t have time to say more than that because you caught sight of the booth you’d been looking for out of the corner of one eye, reaching out with your hand to alert him. “Dog treats on your right.”
He corrected course immediately, leading you and Grogu to the table. “Hi!” The woman behind it greeted you with a wave, eyes darting between you and Din and then down to Grogu. “Looks like the three of you - and especially the little guy - are in need of some snacks.”
“I think he’d like that.” Din cleared his throat. “His name’s -”
“Grogu. I can see it on his collar. I’m not calling him that though. I’m gonna call him Bright Eyes because that’s exactly what this little cutie has.” She stepped around from the table and then crouched down, her gloved hands shooting out to ruffle the dog’s ears. “Isn’t it.” He moved closer, tail wagging, and before Din could tell him to stay down, the dog was on his hind legs, front paws resting on the woman’s knees. “What do you like, little guy? Pig’s ears? Peanut butter? Bacon?”
The wagging of Grogu’s tail sped up with each word the woman spoke, but it wasn’t until she leaned in and kissed him on the nose before rising to her feet that he barked, a happy sound that you could hear even over the crowd around you. “He likes all of it.”
“I know.” She turned and headed back behind the table, holding one hand - and one finger - up. “He looks like he’d eat just about anything but I’ve got just the right …” She bent down and then popped up a few seconds later, a triumphant smile on her face. “Homemade. Dogs love ‘em. Fun shape makes ‘em different. Here you go Bright Eyes, how about this one?”
She rounded the table again and held up what she had in her hand - and while you barely contained your laugher, Din wasn’t able to do the same. “Is that a … frog?”
“It sure is!” The woman nodded once, holding the treat up. “Good for the teeth and the gums. Gets all the crud outta there and it tastes good.” She paused, sucking in a breath and then looked back at Grogu. “Wanna try it?”
He was sitting again, paws neatly placed in front of his body, tail thumping on the ground. You watched him tilt his head back, sniffing the air, and then the dog’s tongue poked out of his mouth as he licked his chops. He does. Look at him. “I’ll pay for it, Din.” Reaching for your purse, you pulled out your wallet. “How much?”
“Couple bucks.” She waved her free hand, bending over again as she lowered her hand. “You can put it in the thing on the table if he likes it.”
“Puhoi, Grogu.” Din’s low voice from next to you made the dog whine quietly, but when the treat was just in front of Grogu’s mouth, you were shocked to see that he remained in place, shifting his paws but otherwise not moving. The woman paused and then looked up at Din, and though it pained you to do so, you looked away from him and at the dog, waiting to see what would happen next. “Hiibir bic.” And then he moved - the dog gently taking the treat from between the woman’s fingers and closing his jaws around it, rising onto all four feet and taking a step back before he set it down, sniffing it.
“Look at that,” the woman exclaimed, her grin returning full force. “I’ve never had a -”
But her words were cut off by Grogu inhaling the frog-shaped treat, chomping down on it with vigor. It crunched into tiny pieces and he devoured them in only a few seconds, nose moving along the ground followed by his tongue to catch any crumbs that he might have missed. That’s more like it. Laughing along with them, you moved around the woman’s body and put the money into the waiting container, fingers deftly picking up one of her business cards from the displayed stack. Peli Motto. Never heard of her before; she must be from out of town.
“Well thank you, Peli.” You held the card up as you stepped back next to Din. “I definitely see a few more of these things in Grogu’s future.” You didn’t know if that was actually going to be the case, but you hoped it would be, especially with how quickly he’d eaten the treat. “I’ll check out the website, and -”
“It’s all there.” She waved her hand again before bending down to scratch at Grogu’s back, the dog nudging against her calf. “Frogs and biscuits and bones and jerky and everything you can think of. I’ve also got a site for my other businesses, and there’s a link on the pet page if you decide to look through it.” She straightened up, looking between you and Din. “Somea the stuff I sell is perfect for couples, and -”
“We’re not a couple.” You interjected before she could get too carried away - and before Din could question why you were letting the assumption slide. “Just friends. But thank you, we’ll take a look.”
She stood straight up again and then stepped back, her attention shifting momentarily from you and Din to another person that was hovering nearby. “If you say so.” She shrugged. “Glad he likes that one though. It’s very popular. And I sell a ton of ‘em for the holidays so if you’re going to want some, make sure you get your order in soon.” She eyed Din again, one hand on her hip. “I do offer expedited production and delivery for a fee, so…”
“You’ll be the first one I call.” Din’s lips twitched into a small smile and then he nodded. “Thank you again. You made his day.” She gave the three of you another nod and then turned her full attention to the new people, the sudden departure blanketing you and Din in relative silence. That was a lot. “Ready to find that hot chocolate?”
“Sure.” Sticking your hands in your pockets as you headed back for the main tree, Din tugged on Grogu’s leash to pull him with you. “And if you don’t want to wait in line with him, we’ll find a spot and then I can go.”
“Is every year like this?” He avoided your offer, gesturing to the people in front of and around you with his free hand. “For the tree lighting?”
“It’s usually not this busy, actually.” You sidestepped a small group of teenagers, bumping into Din’s side as you did. “Sorry.”
“Don’t worry about it.” He steadied you with one large hand, palm resting at the center of your back - and even through your jacket, you could feel it; the pressure welcome and sending a thrumming energy through you. Oh no. “You alright?”
“I’m fine. I didn’t run into any of them.” You sighed, closing your eyes. “Anyway, it’s usually not this busy, but because it’s been nice the last couple days … everyone’s here.”
“Yeah, almost all the snow’s melted.” The three of you reached the corner of the street where the tree was, the brightly colored lights on the food trucks cutting through the darkness. “I was surprised. What happens if there’s no snow for the snowman thing?”
“That’s why it’s not first.” You pointed out the hot chocolate truck, squinting to try and see the line. “Three weeks in gives them plenty of time to figure something out if they need to. I’m sure there’s a backup plan, but we’ve never had to use it… and I’m sure we won’t this year, either.”
He stayed quiet for a few seconds and then Din said your name, the man turning toward you. “I hope you’re right.” Pulling his lower lip back and between his teeth, he stared at you for long moments, the man silent. What’s going on, Din? You wanted to ask but didn’t know how to, your fingers curling into loose fists inside of your pockets. “Look.” He sighed, closing his eyes. “I’ll let you stay here with Grogu, if this is a good spot.”
“What?” He held out the leash, the smile returning to his face. “Din, he -”
“He’ll be good.” Din’s eyes flicked down and then back up, “It’s only a few minutes.” Pulling one hand free from your pocket, you took the handle, fingers threading through the loop and then closing around it, the majority of it resting against the back of your wrist. “Wait here?”
“I might move a little closer to those trees.” You gestured with your chin. “But I’ll be there.” When he turned away from you, you said his name, stopping the man in his tracks. “Do you want money? I -”
“No. You bought him that frog. I’ve got it.” He waved you off with one hand. “Marshmallows or whipped cream? What do you like?”
“Marshmallows.” Biting your lower lip in thought, you narrowed your eyes. “And if they’ve got those little candy canes, grab me one of those, too. Please.” He assured you that he would and then Din began moving again, disappearing into the crowd. You watched until you couldn’t see him anymore and then turned your attention to Grogu, saying the dog’s name. “C’mon pal. We’re gonna get to a better spot, alright?”
He went willingly as you weaved through the crowd and about fifteen feet to your right. It wasn’t any closer to the main tree, but the ground where you were standing sloped up and back, elevating you a few feet over the rest of the crowd - and giving you a better view of everything beneath you.
As you let yourself watch what was happening, you zoned out, head tilted to one side and your fingers holding the leash tightly. I’m here with … James hadn’t ever wanted to go to the tree lighting with you, citing the hectic nature of the night along with the long lines at the concession stands - and the traffic jam that getting out of the parking garages could become. And I never fought it. You’d gone every year without him - meeting friends or going alone - but it had never felt perfect; there’d always been something missing.
And you hated to admit it, but the missing piece was someone there with you because they wanted to be - someone that wasn’t just a friend that you’d known for years. You loathed being a third wheel, and even though Stacy and Joseph never made you feel unwanted, you couldn’t help it sometimes. “It’s weird, right Grogu?” Looking down, you watched as he lowered himself onto the ground, paws outstretched in front of him before he settled his nose between them. “This is the first time I’m not here with my friends in about a million years.”
He didn’t reply - or look up - so you returned your attention to the crowd, trying to see if you could spot your friends. I should text them. I should let them know where I am. Pulling your phone out, you saw that there was a message from Cara. What does she want?
Saw Din in the hot cocoa line by himself. Did you scare him off already?
You fought back a laugh at that, sliding the loop of Grogu’s leash all the way back and around your wrist so that you could type.
No, I’m waiting with Grogu by the trees on the hill. He offered to go.
She began typing back almost immediately, and her reply was blunt - though not unexpected.
You can tell me where you’re at all you want, but you’re on your own. We’re staying where we are… and so are you. And Din.
“I knew it.” Groaning, you rolled your eyes and sent a message back, chewing on the inside of your cheek.
Fine. But I still need a ride back to my car later.
She took a few seconds to respond, the bubble appearing and disappearing at the bottom of the message multiple times.
You know where we’re parked.
Slipping your phone back into your pocket, you shuffled your feet and then stuck your hands back in your pockets, seeking out the warmth. Even though it had been warmer, the temperature drop after dark made things chilly. The cup will warm my hands up when he gets back.
As the minutes passed and people’s attention turned toward the main tree, the crowd gathered around it growing steadily larger, you wondered if Din was going to make it back in time. I’d hate that. I wouldn’t want him to miss the tree getting turned on, especially since -
“Hey. I’m back.” Looking to the left, you saw Din approaching, two green cups with lids in his hands. “Sorry it took so long.”
“You made it back just in time.” You took one cup, shaking the leash back to between your fingers before you held it out to Din. “Got a couple more minutes.” He took the loop from you, and despite your best efforts, you couldn’t stop yourself from staring at the way his fingers looked against the dark rope, his palm nearly swallowing the braided material as he closed them around it. “The view’s much better up here.”
“It is.” He moved a little closer to you, Grogu still laying on the ground at your feet. “I saw your friends while I was in line. They pretended that they didn’t see me.”
“I’m going to be honest with you, Din.” Sipping the cocoa, you licked your lips clean. “They’re trying to convince me to … I don’t even know what, exactly, and …”
“They’re being good friends.” He took a drink, too, shoulders rising and falling in a shrug. “I take it they’re not trying to wait and see if you end up back with your ex?”
“God no.” You rolled your eyes. “Stacy pretty much threw a party when we broke up, and Cara wasn’t a huge fan, either. I could probably pick any random man in this crowd and they’d approve more than they did with James.” He laughed, the sound quiet - but you still heard it.
“So they ignored me so I couldn’t tell them where we were standing?”
“Yes.” The taste of chocolate coated your tongue, warmth seeping through your body a little more each passing second. “I sent a text to Cara, and she pretty much told me that I was on my own until it was time to leave.”
“Could be worse, right?” Din turned his head toward you, gifting you with an eyeful of his profile.
You’d looked at him before, but that night - with the soft glow of the overhead lights shining through the tree branches and from behind him, you saw the man in a new light. The curved bridge of his nose, his full lips, the well-kept mustache and short, stubbly beard … all of it separately was attractive, but everything together - and there with you - made your stomach flip.
With every second that he spent watching you, it became more and more apparent that the crush you had on him wasn’t going to go away. And we still have five events to do together. This is .. bad. This is going to be … hard.
“I mean… you could be alone, or not have hot chocolate, or…” He trailed off and you were overcome with the desire to hug him, though you stopped yourself, tightening your grip on your cup. “Oh, speaking of …” He reached into his pocket and pulled out two plastic-wrapped candy canes, holding one out to you. “Sorry, I forgot to give this to you.”
You took it from him, plucking the peppermint stick from his fingers and deftly opening it with one hand before you stuck one end between your lips, sucking. Not only did it distract you from what you’d been thinking about, it gave you a few extra seconds to come up with a response. Make it funny. Make it so that he doesn’t think you think this is more than it is.
“You know,” you finally said as you pulled the candy cane from between your lips. “I always thought that if you were a single person out somewhere with a cute dog, there’d be people lining up to talk to you.” You used the candy to point down at Grogu. “But you left me with him for like ten minutes, and no one came up to me, Din. I think your dog’s broken.”
“Definitely not.” Din swallowed a gulp of cocoa and shook his head, licking his lips. “I had at least three women walk up to me before you got here and tell me how cute he was.” Of course you did, but that has nothing to do with the dog. “And when we’re walking, people are always asking about him, too.”
“Must be me then.” You muttered the words, unable to stop yourself. I -”
“No.” He turned toward you, angling his body so that he faced you without needing to turn his head. “It’s definitely not you.” You felt the weight of his stare - the man’s gaze warm and pulling you in, heating you from the inside out more than the hot chocolate ever could have.
“Din, you -”
But before you could say anything else, you heard feedback through the microphone on the square, the sound making you wince and Grogu whine, the dog getting to his feet. “Ouch.” Din winced too, ducking his head and averting his eyes. “You alright, pal?” You looked, finding Grogu’s face peeking out from behind Din’s calves, head tilted so that he could look up. “I know it was loud.”
The moment was broken - and while part of you was thankful, another part of you was upset, the idea of never knowing what you might have said or what might have happened if you hadn’t been interrupted something that you knew would gnaw at you. But it’s better this way. “They’re starting.” You pointed, saying Din’s name. “That’s the mayor and then the winners from last year’s competition.”
“What are they doing up there?” He spoke loudly to be heard over the sound of increasing cheers and clapping, and instead of raising your voice to yell, you shifted closer, turning your head so that you could speak directly into his ear.
“They flip the switch.” You paused, trying to disguise your shiver at the way Din moved, too, closing the distance between you even more. “That’s one of the prizes that stays the same every year. The winners are a part of the tree lighting.”
“So that’s gonna be us next year?” He turned his head to look at you, lips pushed out into a smirk. “Standing up there with everyone watching us?” Wait, what?
“Thought you said I shouldn’t expect anything from you.” You spoke breathlessly, your fingers tightening around your cup as your heart hammered behind your ribcage. “Because -”
“I changed my mind.” He wet his lips, the tip of his tongue flashing into and out of view. “I want to win.” And you said I’m the competitive one. A laugh escaped you then, your nose wrinkling as you shut your eyes, nodding. “What?”
“Well if you’ve changed your mind, Din, then I guess we have to win.” He was grinning at you when you opened your eyes again, but before he could speak, the sound of the Mayor’s voice interrupted, welcoming everyone to the celebration.
The two of you faced forward, eyes on the man and two women that stood next to him, the three of them wearing colorful coats and hats. And even though you were paying attention to what was happening - the man reintroducing the winners with a broad sweep of his arm, thanking all of the vendors for being present, wishing everyone a happy holiday season - you were much more aware of Din’s presence beside you than anything else.
He hadn’t moved away again, the heat radiating off of his body along with the scent of his cologne, and for a few minutes, you let your mind wander, imagining what it would be like to know that you got to attend events with him, to casually reach over and take Grogu’s leash from his hand and wind it around yours, to be able to lean over and rest your head against his - “Hey.”
Din’s voice cut through your thoughts, forcing your attention back onto him just as the Mayor was reminding everyone that the contest began the following night, and that an updated schedule of events was available 24/7 online. “Yeah?”
“Thanks for inviting me.” The smirk had turned into a soft smile, Din’s eyes warm beneath the band of his hat. “I’ve never been to anything like -” There was a smattering of applause that was accompanied with a countdown, and with some regret, you closed your eyes and gritted your teeth. Dammit.
“You probably want to watch this, Din.” Even though you were annoyed that your conversations kept getting interrupted, you couldn’t deny the excitement you felt at the fact that you were only moments away from the true start of the holiday season. “Look at the tree.”
He did - and you did, too, your breath catching as the two women stepped forward and reached out for the oversized switch, their fingers closing around it as the residents of the town began to count backwards from 10.
When they hit 3, you shifted on both feet, glancing down to see that Grogu was sitting again, paws neatly arranged and his ears perked up toward the sound of the crowd. Good boy, Grogu. You smiled at the sight and then looked back at the tree, biting down on your lower lip as the switch flipped - and then a few seconds later, the lights on the tree came on, followed by strings of them leading out and away from it and over the square.
“Oh, dank farrik.” Din’s voice was filled with awe, and as you looked over at him, you couldn’t stop yourself from smiling at his expression, the man’s eyes wide and his pupils huge. As the lights continued to turn on in succession, you briefly closed your eyes again, taking a deep breath. “Whoa!”
Reopening them, you watched Din’s neck stretch as he looked up, his eyes on the branches above you, which were strung with hundreds of tiny multicolored lights. “Surprise, Din.” Before you could stop yourself, you reached over, laying your hand on his arm. “When I said we decorate here, we decorate.”
“You weren’t kidding.” When he looked back at you, the awe was still there, though there was a deep crease between his brows as he stared at you. “This is …” He trailed off, frowning. “Everything at home is so formal when it comes to the holidays, and … I’ve never…”
“Can’t say that anymore.” You tightened your grip on his arm, fingers sinking into the soft, puffy material of his coat. “And it only gets better.” He eyed you for a few more seconds and then looked away, his attention moving over the lights and the crowd before it honed back in on the tree, the man smiling again. “You should bring Grogu back here at night sometime.”
Letting go of his arm, you crouched down, setting your cup between your feet and reaching over to pet the dog, fingers moving slowly through the short fur on the top of his head. “Yeah?”
“Mmmhmm.” He leaned into your touch, whining softly when you scratched him behind the ears. “It’s a good photo op. There’s a little wall that you can have him jump up and sit on, the tree’s perfectly placed behind it. You can sent it back home so everyone can see him.” Din stayed silent, even as you picked the cup back up and stood, taking a sip. “Wait a week or so and get some snow in there, and it looks like a Christmas card.”
“You could come with us.” He turned to face you, lifting one shoulder in a shrug as he took a drink, too. “Show us the right spot.” I’d… I’d love that. You wanted to reply immediately but forced yourself not to, instead taking a deep breath and nodding. Don’t let him see how much you want that.
“If you want.” You finished your cocoa, lowering the cup to your side. “And that way you’ll have someone to take a picture of the two of you.” You saw the confusion return, his eyes narrowing briefly. What did I say? I didn’t mean to… “Din?”
“There you are!” You swore under your breath and unless you imagining it, so did he, but both of you turned toward the sound and watched as your friends headed through the crowd and toward you, Cara holding a cup similar to yours and Stacy and Joseph behind her, their hands linked. “Well, what do you think, Din? You like the lights?”
“I … do.” He nodded at them, winding Grogu’s leash tighter around his hand. “There are a lot more of them than I thought. And I’m used to only white lights, so…” You are? His smile widened, Din nodding. “I like this.”
“A lot of the buildings decorate, too.” Cara swigged from her cup and then grinned. “You’ll see that tomorrow at trivia, to start.”
“I’m sure I will.” Din looked from your friend back to you, a flash of disappointment in his eyes. “But we should probably get going now so we can beat the crowd.” Oh. You’d known it was coming - the time that you had to separate - but you were disappointed, too, the abrupt arrival of your friends changing the feeling of the night. “And that way I can get home in time to study.”
“Study?” You grinned. “Din, are you going to go home and look up -”
“I am.” He straightened up and set his shoulders, his attention fully on you. “Just going to look at a couple things.” He arched a brow, head cocked slightly to one side? “Any recommendations for where to start?”
“I’ll text you a couple links.” You pressed your lips together, warmth toward the man filling your chest. He’s taking this seriously. It’s just a stupid contest, and … “If that’s ok?”
“Yeah.” He took a breath and released it, finally looking away from you and at Grogu. “But I should go and get him home. It was … I had a good time tonight. Thank you for telling me about it.”
“This is only the beginning.” Stacy spoke up, her head resting on her husband’s shoulder. “If you had a good time here, you’ll love the rest of Mistletoe’s Christmas.”
“I hope so.” Eyes darting back to you, Din opened his mouth and then closed it, reaching up to rub the back of his neck. “See you tomorrow?”
“Yep.” You stepped back and toward your friends, making the first move to put space between yourself and the man. “Have a good night, Din.” You looked down, your smile growing. “You too, Grogu.” Din’s mouth moved but you couldn’t make out what he said - though as soon as he stopped, Grogu barked happily, his tail thumping against the man’s leg. I’ll have to ask him about that.
“G’night, Din.” Cara held up a hand in a wave, the woman reaching over to link arms with you. “See you around.”
As she pulled you away, you looked back over your shoulder at him, finding that Din was watching you with a small smile on his face, one hand stuffed into the pocket of his jacket. Mouthing the word “goodnight” at him, you watched Din nod once before you faced forward, Cara tugging you closer as Stacy and Joseph led the way back to the car.
Once he was out of earshot, you wrenched yourself free, tossing your cup into a trash can before facing your friend. “What was that? You said that you’d let what happened happen. That you wouldn’t interfere, and -”
“I said we’d stay out of it when it came to getting the two of you together or manipulating that.” Cara looked to the side at you, shrugging. “But I didn’t say anything about cutting in in an attempt to pull you apart.”
“That doesn’t even make sense.” You were confused at her logic, the four of you continuing to walk back toward the car. “Cara, what do -”
“We watched you all night.” Stacy spoke up, clearing her throat. “We needed to pull you out of there before the two of you got too far ahead of yourselves.” Ahead of ourselves? “There’s definitely a connection there, but there’s no reason for you to rush anything.”
“Rush anything?” Laughing as the parking garage came into view, you rubbed at your forehead. “Don’t sabotage myself, but don’t go too fast, try to get to know him but don’t get too close. What the hell am I supposed to -”
“You just broke up with Captain Asshole, and you might not know Din well, but he’s aware that you were together for a while.” All of you crowded into the elevator, Cara’s arms crossed over her chest and her dark eyes locked with yours. “If you rush into anything with him, or … cross a line with him now, you might regret it. And he might, too.” Oh. That… makes sense.
Stacy spoke up next. “We won’t be there every time you’re with him, but tonight? This is the first night, and since the competition is starting tomorrow, we wanted to make sure it wasn’t… that it didn’t get awkward.” That made sense to you, even though you didn’t want to admit it. “It’s easy to get caught up in the moment. We’ve all done it. But this is … different. And you said you weren’t looking for anything, so -”
“I agree with you.” Sliding into the backseat, you leaned your head back, eyes closed. “I’m not looking for anything. But it’s hard to remember that when …”
“When you’re standing next to someone like Din?” Stacy looked back at you from the front seat, grinning. “Understandable.” Even Joseph laughed at that, and as he pulled out of the garage and onto the main street, you settled back into the seat, eyes out the window. I’m not looking for anything … and even if I was, he… he hasn’t dated anyone the whole time he’s been here, and… shit.
—
An hour later, you were changed into your pajamas and ready for bed, though you decided to watch a movie before heading up to your room.
After settling on the couch and wrapping a blanket around your shoulders, you pulled your phone out and debated over whether or not to text Din. I said I would. Chewing on your lower lip, you started at the screen and then unlocked it, opening your texts.
The picture of Grogu was the first thing you saw, and you couldn’t keep the smile off of your face as you stared at him, the dog’s large eyes bright and focused on the camera - and on Din, in turn. It won’t hurt anything.
A few minutes later, you’d put three different links into a single message, thumb hovering over the send button. It’s just research. You sent the message and then immediately followed it up with another to explain yourself.
Just some light reading for you. They usually go pretty heavy on the general trivia.
It took a few seconds but when Din opened the messages, he began typing back almost immediately - and his answer was not what you expected.
Got it. Thanks, I’ll take a look.
Maybe he’s upset at how I left tonight? You hoped that wasn’t the case - that your friends hadn’t inadvertently ruined things for you while doing what they thought they could to help. Or maybe he’s having second thoughts about tomorrow.
Deciding to send one message back - a smiley face with a simple you’re welcome - you were in the middle of typing when another message from Din came through.
I had fun tonight. It was nice to get out with Grogu … and you.
You nearly dropped your phone at that, and spent the next 60 seconds staring at the screen, mouth hanging open. What? “How do I even respond to that?” You needed to - and you knew it, but you didn’t know what the appropriate reply was, especially after your friends had cautioned you earlier. I just have to be … careful.
I’m glad. I did too.
It felt hollow, though, and as soon as you sent it and reread the message, you were typing again, pressing send again before you could stop yourself.
Can’t wait for tomorrow.
You didn’t expect a reply from Din, but when your phone buzzed again moments later, you let out a breath, covering your mouth with one hand and sighing in relief.
I can’t either.

💖, 🖋 and 👨👩👧 for the ask game! (I probably got at least one of the emojis wrong but hopefully they still make sense 😂) - @blitzwhore
💖 What do you like most about your own writing?
Can't believe you're gonna make me think of something nice to say about myself 🤣 I've been told I have a very "lyrical" style of writing, and sometimes I'll write a sentence or paragraph that flows really well and just Hits. I love those moments when I feel like I've really nailed it at a word-for-word level.
👨👩👦 Do you tell people in real life that you write fic?
Most people in my life know I do writing of some sort, but I'm pretty vague with the details lol. I only talk about writing fic with irl friends who also write/read fic (and I don't tell most of them that I write smut, just bc I know it isn't their jam). I told my therapist I write "character studies," because what is smut if not horny character analysis? 🤣
🖋 Post a snippet from a current WIP
Putting this one under the cut!
Ok I was a little nervous about sharing this because it's from a longer AU I've been toying around with, and historically I'm very bad at sticking to longer projects. But regardless of what I do with it I had a lot of fun writing this scene of M&M tormenting Blitz lmao
Blitz could feel his face heating up. “He isn’t— It’s not like—” Fuck, he was losing this one fast. “Okay, so maybe we’re boning or whatever, but it’s just a casual thing, you know? It’s not like we’re dating or anything.” Moxxie raised an eyebrow. It was almost impressive how smug he looked. “Who said anything about dating?” “I think he just did, babe.” Okay, now they were getting on his nerves. He could feel his spines starting to bristle. “Look. It’s just a convenience thing, ‘kay? He gets to have his bad boy fantasy, and I get a reliable fuck who I know won’t steal my kidneys while I’m asleep.” It wasn’t like Stolas would ever really consider a relationship with someone like him. Disowned or not, he was still a royal. And that was fine! Blitz didn’t want anything complicated, anyway. Fucking was easy. It was comfortable. It was all either of them was looking for. “If you say so, sir.” Moxxie had somehow dialed the smugness up to eleven. Blitz rolled his eyes and walked towards the door. “I’m firing both of you. And I’m keeping your shares for today.” He was pretty sure Moxxie started to say something in response, but he was out the door before he heard it. He let himself stew as he made his way down to the parking lot. “Looking for excuses,” for fuck's sake. They were hired killers! What did they expect? He was going to get injured sometimes. And it only made sense to go see Stolas, who knew more about this shit than any of them did. Besides, a quick fuck sesh was good for you, or something. Boosted your sero-whatever levels. Got your blood pumping. It was basically healthcare, anyway. Talk about a bedside manner, he thought to himself, grinning. He made a mental note to use that one with Stolas later. He'd think it was funny.
“C’mere, B, let me take a look at that scratch for you.” Millie had opened up their first-aid kit and had just finished bandaging a shallow cut on her thigh. Blitz looked down at the wounded arm that she’d gestured to. It wasn’t serious— an annoyance, more than anything. He shrugged. “Eh, that’s okay. I’ll just have my guy take a look at it.” Millie eyed him skeptically, like she was trying to catch him in a lie. “You know, you’ve been spending an awful lot of time with this mysterious “guy” of yours lately.” Moxxie looked up from his paperwork with a conspiratorial smile. “You’ve been seeing him for everything, even minor injuries. Almost like you’re looking for excuses to pay him a visit.” Oh great, the famous M&M tag team. “What? No, I haven’t.” Even he knew he sounded defensive. “Sure looks that way to me.” Millie crossed her arms and perched on the edge of the desk so that she and Moxxie could give him the double stare-down. Cute. “Are you sure that medical attention’s all he’s been giving you?”
Thank you for the ask @blitzwhore! I'm still answering these prompts if y'all are curious 😊

— THE PACIFIC PREFERENCE
WHEN THEY FIND OUT YOU HAVE A CRUSH ON THEM
Characters: Eugene Sledge, Snafu Shelton, Bob Leckie, Sidney Phillips, Hoosier Smith, Hillbilly Jones + Captain “Ack-Ack” Haldane
Tags: —
A/N: *sighs* men. let me know if you guys want a part 2 with other characters from the pacific (e.g. john basilone, burgin, jay de l’eau, bill leyden, runner, chuckler etc)!!! pls enjoy and leave a like/reblog/feedback <33 ^.^ // [ko-fi] [commissions] / this was inspired by my love @littlemissvincentvega from this post <3
EUGENE SLEDGE “SLEDGEHAMMER” —
He’s flustered, but he doesn’t do anything about it. Eugene’s frail and bookish, so he’s too shy to pursue you.
Whenever you walk past him, he has to get a good look of you, maybe just a crumb of your face, before keeping his head down.
Sid would tease him and never let it go.
“Give me a break, you ol’ greaser—”
“Hey, I’m just sayin’. The missus needs a friend!”
and Snafu would just make remarks about you, much to Eugene’s annoyance and a sense of motivation to make a move before someone else does.
Eugene is confident that he would get to ask you out some day, because he was raised to be kind and a gentleman. Time will tell.
MERRIELL “SNAFU” SHELTON —
Learning about your crush on him boosts his ego and is way too cocky about it.
“What did I tell ya? Getting to the likes of Y/N is like discovering a goldmine. I’m gonna reel them in.”
Snafu obviously bothers you during the day by flirting with you, trying to get your attention because he likes getting attention.
He doesn’t leave pleasant remarks at first, but he goes straight down to business.
“So, doll. Dinner? Movie? Picnic under the stars? How ‘bout I take you to the back of the train and you can show me your caboose? ;)”
Snafu will eventually learn to be more respectful. But at least he’s polite when he tries to talk and hang out with you more.
ROBERT “BOB” LECKIE —
This man is charming. He managed to win over Stella’s family over dinner, so he could do the same with you.
He won’t stop thinking about you. But he’ll get a bit insecure and overthink about other irrelevant things.
“I wonder what you don’t like about me?”
His friends from How Company make fun of him, reading out loud the letters you wrote to him.
He shows up to your house unexpectedly, all fresh and clean, in uniform, and he asks you out for dinner.
Deep down, he’s nervous af - he’s overthinking if it doesn’t work out if you two ever start dating.
When he takes you out you can tell he’s a nervous wreck and he doesn’t know where else to go from there, but you assure him he’s doing fine.
SIDNEY “SID” PHILLIPS —
Sid is already getting along with you, so nothing really changes when he finds out you have a crush on him. If anything, it brings the two of you closer.
He likes to talk to you about anything, and he’ll eventually bring up taking you out for dinner or a picnic under the stars.
Sid will tell you all about Eugene, life in Mobile, baseball, the rotting coconuts in Pavuvu, anything to keep you around.
“Here, y/n. How about I drop you home? I can squeeze you in on my bike!”
He’s surprised that he’s not as nervous when you two become more than friends.
Sid realizes he’s falling for you hard and it’s gonna kill him once he’s sent off to fight again.
BILL “HOOSIER” SMITH —
This cocky little shit
When Hoosier confronts you about it, he has a big smirk on his face.
“A lil’ bird told me you got your eyes on me.” (The lil’ bird in question was Chuckler.......)
He wastes NO time asking you out. And of course, you accept.
If you smoke, he offers you a cigarette from his pack.
Hoosier is a goofball and he never fails to make you laugh when you two are bonding together.
He’ll stuff cigarettes up his nostrils and once he finally takes you out, let’s say at a fancy restaurant, he’ll stuff the chopsticks up his nostrils. Anything to hear that laugh of yours.
1ST LT. EDDIE “HILLBILLY” JONES —
He’s flattered, all right.
Even from the dungarees and dirt, he’s known for having a clean, fresh and handsome appearance, according to Sledge’s book.
Hillbilly’s a gentleman. If he were to take you out sometime, he’d make you feel like there’s no other person in his life but you.
Ack-Ack pushes him to make a move. He assures him that it wouldn’t hurt to leave some room for a little bit of bonding.
“I know I’m serious when I need to be serious, but I’m a helpless disciple saved by Christ when I found out about you.”
So of course, he’s gonna come in with his guitar and play you a song to win you over.
CAPTAIN ANDREW “ACK-ACK” HALDANE —
Of course, of all people, you develop feelings for the skipper.
Since he’s a good leader who pulls everyone together during the war, you could understand why you like him. He’s also a very sweet guy.
The thing is, he already knows. You’re too shy to even confess your feelings to him in person or in letters, anonymously or not. In fact, no one even told the skipper about it and nobody needed to. He just knows. A good captain is always observant.
You two are alone for a moment, and his casual, calm and friendly tone manages to help you feel more comfortable and less nervous.
He gives you one of the blankets his dad made for everyone. He wraps it around you at night when you’re feeling cold or afraid.

Introducing MAYbe I’ll Make This, the easiest month of prompts you’ve ever participated in happening this May 2023.
It’s a chance to share all those ideas you’ve been toying with that you might draw or write someday with no pressure to actually commit to finishing anything!
Participation can be as little as sharing a few words or a single sentence or as involved as a sketch or plot summary, it’s up to you!
What’s the point?
To fill our fandom tags with fun new ideas and stimuli to get everyone’s creative juices flowing. For fan creators ourselves, it gives us a chance to talk about our ideas with no pressure to deliver. And who knows, hopefully seeing people excited about our ideas might give us extra inspiration and motivation to maybe even work on them someday!
Here’s how it works:
Throughout May, post anything from a few words to a snippet from an idea you’ve been kicking around that you MAY draw or write someday and tag the related fandoms, if any. (Ideas that you've started, have actively in progress or have even started but abandoned are also welcome!) A few sentences about a fic you might write, a sketch you’re still figuring out, or even a long infodump about the AU of your heart, share as much or as little as you want!. It’s not a commitment to make anything, just a fun excuse to talk about your ideas.
Don’t have any ideas of your own? No problem! You can still participate by boosting the ideas that others post, asking questions and expressing your excitement about the ideas that appeal to you.
Anyone from any fandom is welcome to participate as well as original writers so please spread the word!
We’ve got 30 days worth of prompts to get you started that you can interpret anyway you like… or ignore entirely and do your own thing. Do all 30, pick and choose, do them out of order, whatever you want! The point is just to have fun and share your ideas!
That’s it! Just a super chill, low effort way for us all to celebrate those ideas taking up space in our brains that we aren’t quite ready to commit to making yet (or maybe ever).
Notes
Participants retain all rights to their ideas and first dibs on the writing / drawing of them.
Want feedback on your ideas? Encourage brainstorming? Happy to let someone else take your idea and write it themselves? Add a note to that effect to your post so people know what kind of interactions are welcome.
Please be supportive of others' ideas and keep overly negative opinions to yourself (especially if they did not ask for feedback). If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all!
You’re welcome to tag your posts with “MAYbe I’ll Make This” or link back to this post to explain the challenge but your host (me) won’t be sharing every post related to this challenge. This is just something I wanted to do for my own purposes to share all the ideas I may never get a chance to write but I’m opening the prompts list to anyone who might like to do the same.
Questions? Drop me an ask!
