The way Buck is treated is absolutely heartbreaking.

On the surface yes, maybe the 118 does look like a found family unit. And most of them have a good family bond with one another. But not with Buck. (Long rant below the cut)

Buck has the biggest heart out of anyone on the show. He is constantly going out of his way to help people. This is particularly prominent with Eddie, but he does this for so many characters.

He lets Hen, Eddie and Chim stay with him during the lockdown, never asks them to help pay rent, and then later lets Albert stay with him with no complaint.

He is constantly babysitting Chris and later Jee while their respective parents go do other things, and while he clearly loves spending time with them this is definitely a massive favor on his part because babysitting kids is hard work.

He is always there to support them when they need it.

He’s the one that prompts them to check on Bobby in season 1.

He is there for Chim as best he can when Maddie leaves.

When Maddie shows up at his apartment in Season 2 he doesn’t get angry with her for essentially breaking into his home and helping herself to a bottle of wine. And instead helps her settle down with a safe new job and becomes her shoulder to cry on during this period.

He drops everything when Eddie asks for his help, when Eddie mentions issues with childcare and paperwork for Chris Buck introduces him to Carla.

When Eddie has to bring Chris to the station Buck calls ahead so Bobby can get permission.

When Eddie gets shot Buck takes over Chris’s care without prompting.

When Eddie has issues with parenting Chris he calls Buck for help and Buck helps.

When Eddie has a meltdown and takes a bat to the wall, not only does Buck drop everything and run to help him, he also goes further by taking eddie to see the kid they saved the day he was shot.

Whenever Eddie needed anything Buck was there.

When Eddie desperately needed a sub letter so that he could move Buck went and took over the lease.

When he found out Eddie was moving he went and did what he could to help him despite being devastated.

Whenever anyone needed anything, Buck was there. And Buck was always happy to do it.

But when Buck was feeling abandoned after the embolism no one reached out, instead Eddie dumped Chris on him under the pretense of getting him out and about and stop moping for the day.

When Maddie left, no one thought to ask Buck how he was doing. Instead they focused entirely on Chim. And when Chim punched Buck no one at any point stood up for Buck, instead going on about how Chim is under a lot of distress right now as though Buck isn’t also feeling the loss and worry of his Sister up and leaving.

When Buck filed the lawsuit they almost all immediately went and put all the blame on Buck. Hen was the only one to point out that they were all Buck had, that he had no other family outside the 118. Despite that they still punished him, Eddie taking his anger out on Buck because the lawsuit meant Buck couldn’t bail him out and he couldn’t spend time with Chris and never once saying he missed Buck too. He was pissed because Buck couldn’t drop everything and help him. He was accused of being reckless and impulsive and using their own issues for his own gain and for being selfish and stupid and exhausting despite the fact that he was being treated unfairly. He was hurt, and alone and just needed a hug.

When Buck found out about Daniel and distanced himself from Maddie, Chimney started borderline harassing Buck trying to get him to talk to her, despite a) Buck having had a major bombshell dropped on him, getting his entire life put into a new perspective based on this information, and finding out why his parents treated him the way they did and so needing to process, and B) Buck repeatedly setting boundaries and saying he needed space to process and he’d talk to Maddie when he was ready. Chimney completely ignores Buck’s boundaries as though what Buck needs or wants doesn’t matter because Maddie is upset and wants to talk to him, and only her desires and emotional well being have any level of importance and despite asking for space she literally ambushes him at work to force a conversation he is not ready for. And no one else tries telling Chim to leave Buck alone, and then Eddie only has a half assed conversation with Buck despite being his so called best friend, where he basically dismisses Buck’s feelings and tells him he’s over reacting.

When Eddie was leaving and Buck was upset he was repeatedly accused of making it about himself, being selfish, unreasonable, unsupportive and a jerk when he literally just found out from nowhere that Eddie made a down payment just overheard his best friend basically dismiss their friendship (“I have no ties here, everything that matters is in Texas”) he gets judged and berated for being upset, as though he’s not allowed to have feelings, and when he tries to apologize for his snarkiness gets once again berated and when he finally tells Eddie that he took over the lease and thus he can move, aka the ultimate supportive action, not once does Eddie apologize.

When Buck breaks up with Tommy no one bothers to really check in with him on a deeper level, instead they dismiss his wants by stealing his phone so that he can’t call him and then no one brings it up again despite him clearly still being devastated for every following episode.

When Buck gets SA’d by the therapist he is immediately getting made fun of, and accused of being a manwhore and essentially blamed for being assaulted. No one ever, not once, bothers to wonder if he’s doing alright.

And when Buck is still waiting for Abby to come back rather than being supportive or anything like that he gets laughed at for living in his girlfriend’s apartment and being dumb enough to think she’ll come back.

When Eddie gets a new friend he immediately starts spending all his free time with that friend and never inviting Buck, even if they were planning something Buck would enjoy, instead asking if Buck can babysit (his kid is 14/15 at this point and just because he has CP I still think he can spend a couple of hours home alone. He’s not bedridden or anything.) and basically ignoring his supposed best friend in favor of his shiny new friend.

Whenever Buck needed anything he was laughed at, belittled and dismissed. They constantly take advantage of his kindness. Buck gives and gives and gives to them and gets nothing back. He is only wanted when he can be useful and when they need him. They take and take and take and the second Buck needs even a small amount of empathy or help he gets accused of being selfish, needy, exhausting, of making everything about him, of overreacting. He is essentially told, over and over that he is not allowed to have feelings or boundaries. He is not allowed to need help he can only give help. He is only valued when he can do something for someone else and godforbid he ever ask for the same consideration because otherwise he’s being needy. He makes everyone else his priority and never is he anyone’s priority in return.

Until Tommy anyway, he finally had someone who would take care of him, who acknowledged his feelings and showed him they were valid, who clearly adored all of Buck and never asked him for anything and indulged in his quirks and who was happy to be there for him, who complimented him and who overall clearly adored Buck. Even before they were dating when Tommy saw that Buck clearly was feeling left out he went over to his place to apologize, despite not actually doing anything wrong himself.

I seriously think that if Tommy saw how they all treated Buck he’d lose the delusion that they are basically a family really fast and promptly get pissed on Buck’s behalf. He’d also do everything in his power to help Buck realize that he matters as a person.

I’m just all up in my feels today but. The thing that makes me so feral about bucktommy is the Tommy of it all. Tommy Kinard, who most likely has never been treated like something precious and important, treats his boyfriend with the utmost care. He was shown to be loving, doting, careful. Where most people would look at Buck and go, eh, he’s Buck, he’ll bounce back. Tommy looked at him after listening to Buck talk about Bobby and how scared he was and immediately said, “are you okay?” Tommy got home and listened to Buck’s hare brained idea to hold a funeral for a dead outlaw and said, “Okay.” Tommy loves Buck for Evan, and that’s why I’ll just never really be over it. All of those behaviours that other people deem flaws, the way Buck is reckless and impulsive and sometimes childish and a brat and silly and argumentative. They’re all things Tommy cherishes and loves. They’re all the things Tommy wants because it’s Evan and nothing about Evan could possibly be bad. Tommy has never asked Buck to be more or less than he already is.

This is why I want him back.

It's interesting how Buck's love interests are all written in a way that ends because of the reason they meet/happen in the first place and then of course, we have Eddie.

Abby, who changes Buck's view of a healthy relationship but then turns around and ghosts him, making him wait for months on end and letting him realize she's not coming back on his own.

Ali, who meets Buck during a dangerous situation in his line of work and then leaves him for how dangerous his work is.

Taylor, who lashes out at Buck for using her as a fake date and saying she thought she could trust Buck to be a friend who then ends up using him for her career and chose to put his friends in danger.

Natalia, who's there to help him embrace and deal with his temporary death but it leads to their break up because of the constant talk surrounding death when Buck's not comfortable with it.

We can't confirm for Tommy till it ends but it's important to note how he offers to get Buck into his interests like flying and muay thai yet doesn't show effort with Buck's interests like dressing up according to the bachelor party theme despite Buck being stressed about it. And we also have the fact that the entire reason they got together was due to Buck's jealousy for Eddie which he then claims to be was for Tommy. Makes me think they are either going to end because of differing interests OR because of the jealousy issue popping up again.

Funnily enough, every scene above has an Eddie parallel:

Eddie co-parents with Buck and not only does this not stop after a dangerous event but Eddie also has Buck down as a legal guardian (healthy relationship - Abby).

Eddie is in the same dangerous line of work and they have each other's backs. This happens right off the bat too.(dangerous job - Ali).

The Lawsuit era and The Dispatch era - both where they "betray" each other but manage to work through it (betrayal/lie - Taylor).

Eddie doesn't pressure Buck to talk about his temporary death until Buck's ready and is more focused about him living than in his death (death doula - Natalia).

Eddie who has different interests than Buck (poker, basketball and UFC/MMA) but also manages to show interest and actively takes part in whatever Buck comes up with; he suggests their outfit for the themed party AND ends up staying there for Buck even when others leave (different hobbies & showing interest/taking part - Tommy).

Absolutely fascinating when you start noticing that Buck's relationships keep failing for one reason or another and then we have him and Eddie who face the same sort of situations but they still come out of it stronger together.

It's clear that there's a reason Buck is able to overcome anything when it comes to Eddie (that conversation with Maddie about being there for each other even at their worst 👀) and we've already established that everything Eddie looks for in a partner is already something he has found in Buck. So really, all that's left is for them to realize that hey, the one I'm looking for is right in front of me! 🤷🏽

And yes, it's been said to death (hah) but you don't find it son you make it. And Buck and Eddie have already made it.

taylor and courtney try to be there for vic as she tries to apologize to kate but she cant bring herself to even knock on the door

The fact they keep referencing Eddie’s lying on the show and in interviews has me giggling and kicking my legs and twirling my hair.

It’s almost like we’re meant to read into the fact Eddie’s not always being truthful - with himself and others. Almost like, I don’t know, him going to confessional and telling a priest that he lied to everyone in his life and then later him telling that same priest that he’s straight might possibly be showing us Eddie not being truthful with himself or others!!

bear with me for a moment im going all invisible string theory:

1. so you're telling me we had this dialogue at the beginning of the episode with buck comparing the cruise rescue (subconsciously actually meeting tommy and tommy risking everything for the 118 aka his family) to being struck by lightning and being dead for 3m17s

2. to then have the kiss happening exactly at 3m18s into the apartment scene at the end of the episode aka he was kissed at the 18th second the same second he was brought back to life??

3. not in this episode but another lightning strike parallel when he's wheeled into the hospital and they stop in the ER that's the moment they get a pulse but also the scene where buck kisses tommy in 7x06 after he shows up even tho he fought a fire for the last dozen+ hours cause he promised to buck he would make it!!

There is something just a little endlessly funny to me about all the people disparaging about Buddie being over before they’ve even fully began because of all the interviews sounding discouraging or like that was the end of the story like … babes … I do not mean infantilize you in anyway but like .. you do know they can’t confirm something as huge as Buddie cannon in a pre-interview right?? Like they simply aren’t allowed to do that??? No matter how many times they are asked?? And yes in those circumstances that can and will lie and discourage to get around spoiling something they legally can’t talk about until it happens like … they cannot under any circumstances confirm something like this and are in fact allowed and encouraged to use whatever means necessary to avoid doing so that’s like .. how the media industry works? I need you to understand this, it is important to me that you understand this! I assure you no matter WHAT happens with this storyline, Buddie or no Buddie, they are NEVER going to voluntarily reveal that before the episode premiers!! So like peace and love y’all, take a deep breath and take all these interviews with a whole glass of salt

Severus + Lily + James polycule <3 featuring baby Harry

When Severus Snape stumbles through the small cottage in Godric’s Hollow, bleeding and injured he is surprised to see a young Harry at the bottom of the stairs, standing and tense like he was the one caught. Severus quickly composes himself enough to bark the order, “get your mother,” as he falls in through the doorway onto their patchy sofa. Harry, being young and afraid of being caught out of bed at late, scrambles up the rest of the stairs to find James and Lily.

However, by the time Harry’s socked feet have stopped sliding into his parents room he raises his eyes to see them already up and walking towards him. James, his father, walks straight past and briskly down the stairs before Harry can even get a single word out and his mother follows suit, not hesitating to pick up Harry into her arms before she steps down.

When Harry can see past the stair banister, he looks over into the next room to see James furiously muttering spells whilst his wand hovers a mere few inches from Severus’ injured body equally unstable and in motion.

“What’s the damage?” Lily asks as she places Harry down a few feet away and crouches next to James

Taking a deep breath, James doesn’t look up from his casting before replying to his wife,

“I don’t know Lils,” a sigh, “my spells are picking up on so many but I just can’t tell which ones are causing what.” He looks up frustrated and desperate before catching the look on Harry’s face and immediately stopping all action.

Harry looks terrified, face white with glassy eyes and a gaping mouth. His gaze is focused on Sev’s equally pale face and shallow breathing but the unblinking state suggests that Harry isn’t seeing anything at all. Lily, picking up on James’s shift of focus, spins round on her feet and blocks Severus’ body from view.

“Harry?” She places her hands on his shoulders and gets the attention of the bright emerald eyes, so similar to her own.

“Is- Is pa going to be okay?” Harry’s words come out clumsy, matching the childish wabble to his chin that practically beg his mother to tell him that everything is going to be okay.

Maybe in another universe Harry lost his parents young and he was forced to work under the Dursley’s eye without ever showing a single emotion. Maybe his safe space was a tiny closet under the stairs. And maybe the first time he felt parental love was when he was 13 meeting his godfather for the first time. This is not that universe.

Lily pulls Harry in softly and wraps her arms around him, holding him close to her chest and resting her head on his. She breathes around him as Harry grips on and inhales the scent of his mother.

“Your pa will be fine,” she mutters, smoothing down his hair in long strokes, “dad’s casting healing spells on him now. Just like when you fell off your broom the other day, remember? You had a cut on your knee and he made it all better”

Harry whispers something into her chest which makes Lily pull away and ask him to repeat what he said, keeping him close enough that when he spoke he had to look up to meet her gaze,

“I thought it was kisses that did that?”

The question was so innocent that it promptly broke a sharp cackle out of James who seemed to no longer be focused on the healing and was instead watching Lily and Harry.

“Right you are, Prongslet. My magical skills and talent have nothing over the healing properties of kisses” he rolls his eyes and winks which causes a wet giggle out of Harry and an exasperated one from Lily. A groan from the occupant of the couch causes all three grins to fall and for Lily to rest on her knees by Severus head, grasping his hand which was previously dangling off.

“Please do tell me we’re not stroking Potter’s ego again?” The voice comes out rough and follows a singular eye raise that allows all the tension in the room to slowly melt away.

“You better be talking about James and not me,” Comes Lily snarky reply, “and we all know that Harry isn’t old enough to pick up on those traits yet”

“I thought we agreed that the brat definitely was?”

Harry lets out an offended gasp and walks towards Severus who was now attempting to sit up, and failing as two pairs of hands pushed him back down.

“‘m not a brat” Harry huffs out, his little brain catching onto the offending word and running with it.

“No?” Severus’ lazy gaze looks Harry up and down before pushing a finger into his puffed up cheeks and asking, “then what’s with this pout?”

Harry looks away, cheeks flushing before finally admitting, “I was worried about you,” he looks back up into Severus’ eyes and seeing him about to interrupt scrambles to get his words out. “You just showed up all injured and covered in blood and I panicked and couldn’t do anything and then you were just lying there and you looked really gross- and, and dad was worried and mum was worried and I was worried and-“ he sucks in a huge breath which gets replaced by a finger on his lips.

“I’m okay, you silly boy.” Severus’ arm pulls him into his side and Harry lies his head on his chest listening to the steady thump, thump, thumping of his heart. “I’m okay…” he breathes out again pressing his lips to the top of Harry’s messy hair and just saying that way for several moments.

With Severus being awake and no longer taking up the whole span of the sofa, James sits down heavily, the late hour and healing having taken out any spare energy he might’ve had. He wipes his weary eyes out from under his glasses and levels Severus with a half hearted glare, furiously whispering,

“we’re talking about this tomorrow”. Severus doesn’t make any movement or sound to indicate that he’s heard but James wasn’t expecting anything more out of the man tonight.

Lily, sensing that nobody would be moving again until the morning, sits on the floor and rests her back in front of James’ legs and closes her eyes with a soft sigh.

Come morning there would be three sore adults and one grumpy child but they would all be alive, and that would be enough for now.

Tommy's a practical guy, and he tends to work in an organized and efficient way, and that includes his phone contacts. So when Buck texts him about the tour, he doesn't think twice about saving the number as "Evan Buckley (118)", and that's how the contact stays throughout the beginning of their relationship.

When Buck finds this out, he gives Tommy shit for it, because in his phone Tommy's gone from "Tommy Kinard" to "Tommy 🚁" to simply "❤️".

And then Buck gets a phone call from a stranger from Tommy's phone, telling him that Tommy was in a car accident and taken to the hospital. When he gets there, Tommy's getting a sling for his shoulder but he smiles at Buck like always, pulls out his phone with his good hand, and shows Buck his new contact: Evan (ICE).

oh, how i LOVE that tim decided to include tommy in the last two episodes, even though they are not really buck-focused. if this doesn't prove to you how serious he actually is about tommy being a long-term LI for buck, i don't know what will.

you know how in the movie prisoner of azkaban, remus is like “lily was my friend when no one else was” or something like that? i’ve always thought that was insane cause genuinely wtf are you talking about? your friends broke the law to help you with your werewolf problem, how does lily play into this? also the line isn’t it the books so it feels like it’s not really canon.

anyways i don’t believe that this line was a mistake of the filmmakers, i actually think that remus in this scene is just lying. like he’s just making it up because he knows no one can call him on it. that’s my headcanon.
