9-1-1 2x01 / 7x04 Buck peacocking around the firehouse gym absolutely not trying to get Eddie’s attention

It's interesting how Buck's love interests are all written in a way that ends because of the reason they meet/happen in the first place and then of course, we have Eddie.

Abby, who changes Buck's view of a healthy relationship but then turns around and ghosts him, making him wait for months on end and letting him realize she's not coming back on his own.

Ali, who meets Buck during a dangerous situation in his line of work and then leaves him for how dangerous his work is.

Taylor, who lashes out at Buck for using her as a fake date and saying she thought she could trust Buck to be a friend who then ends up using him for her career and chose to put his friends in danger.

Natalia, who's there to help him embrace and deal with his temporary death but it leads to their break up because of the constant talk surrounding death when Buck's not comfortable with it.

We can't confirm for Tommy till it ends but it's important to note how he offers to get Buck into his interests like flying and muay thai yet doesn't show effort with Buck's interests like dressing up according to the bachelor party theme despite Buck being stressed about it. And we also have the fact that the entire reason they got together was due to Buck's jealousy for Eddie which he then claims to be was for Tommy. Makes me think they are either going to end because of differing interests OR because of the jealousy issue popping up again.

Funnily enough, every scene above has an Eddie parallel:

Eddie co-parents with Buck and not only does this not stop after a dangerous event but Eddie also has Buck down as a legal guardian (healthy relationship - Abby).

Eddie is in the same dangerous line of work and they have each other's backs. This happens right off the bat too.(dangerous job - Ali).

The Lawsuit era and The Dispatch era - both where they "betray" each other but manage to work through it (betrayal/lie - Taylor).

Eddie doesn't pressure Buck to talk about his temporary death until Buck's ready and is more focused about him living than in his death (death doula - Natalia).

Eddie who has different interests than Buck (poker, basketball and UFC/MMA) but also manages to show interest and actively takes part in whatever Buck comes up with; he suggests their outfit for the themed party AND ends up staying there for Buck even when others leave (different hobbies & showing interest/taking part - Tommy).

Absolutely fascinating when you start noticing that Buck's relationships keep failing for one reason or another and then we have him and Eddie who face the same sort of situations but they still come out of it stronger together.

It's clear that there's a reason Buck is able to overcome anything when it comes to Eddie (that conversation with Maddie about being there for each other even at their worst 👀) and we've already established that everything Eddie looks for in a partner is already something he has found in Buck. So really, all that's left is for them to realize that hey, the one I'm looking for is right in front of me! 🤷🏽

And yes, it's been said to death (hah) but you don't find it son you make it. And Buck and Eddie have already made it.

what happened is; victoria got a rejection letter and told kate about it- kate tells max and chloe by accident and vics insecurity blows up starts insulting max and kate wasn't there for it which triggers victoria even more (shes already in a vulnerable place emotionally)

alyssa and stella waiting for kate to catch up but shes staring at vics door

taylor and courtney try to be there for vic as she tries to apologize to kate but she cant bring herself to even knock on the door

thankfully Rachel Amber, part-time model part-time marriage counselor helps them along and they finally get back together

bear with me for a moment im going all invisible string theory:

1. so you're telling me we had this dialogue at the beginning of the episode with buck comparing the cruise rescue (subconsciously actually meeting tommy and tommy risking everything for the 118 aka his family) to being struck by lightning and being dead for 3m17s

2. to then have the kiss happening exactly at 3m18s into the apartment scene at the end of the episode aka he was kissed at the 18th second the same second he was brought back to life??

3. not in this episode but another lightning strike parallel when he's wheeled into the hospital and they stop in the ER that's the moment they get a pulse but also the scene where buck kisses tommy in 7x06 after he shows up even tho he fought a fire for the last dozen+ hours cause he promised to buck he would make it!!

Tommy's a practical guy, and he tends to work in an organized and efficient way, and that includes his phone contacts. So when Buck texts him about the tour, he doesn't think twice about saving the number as "Evan Buckley (118)", and that's how the contact stays throughout the beginning of their relationship.

When Buck finds this out, he gives Tommy shit for it, because in his phone Tommy's gone from "Tommy Kinard" to "Tommy 🚁" to simply "❤️".

And then Buck gets a phone call from a stranger from Tommy's phone, telling him that Tommy was in a car accident and taken to the hospital. When he gets there, Tommy's getting a sling for his shoulder but he smiles at Buck like always, pulls out his phone with his good hand, and shows Buck his new contact: Evan (ICE).

oh, how i LOVE that tim decided to include tommy in the last two episodes, even though they are not really buck-focused. if this doesn't prove to you how serious he actually is about tommy being a long-term LI for buck, i don't know what will.

you know how in the movie prisoner of azkaban, remus is like “lily was my friend when no one else was” or something like that? i’ve always thought that was insane cause genuinely wtf are you talking about? your friends broke the law to help you with your werewolf problem, how does lily play into this? also the line isn’t it the books so it feels like it’s not really canon.

anyways i don’t believe that this line was a mistake of the filmmakers, i actually think that remus in this scene is just lying. like he’s just making it up because he knows no one can call him on it. that’s my headcanon.

buck wasn't sleeping that great so he bought a weighted blanket, but it wasn’t enough. it wasn't heavy enough. so he buys two more, the weight is perfect but he still can't sleep it's missing something. it's missing a chest rising and falling as it sleeps, a full head of hair that smells of teak wood, and sweet little nonsense mumbles throught the night. buck does have the perfect weighted blanket, but he's not with him, he's in his own bed struggling to fall asleep himself. the body pillow he bought wasn't warm enough, it didn't wrap it's arms around him holding him close, no snoring or no heart beat to lull him to sleep. buck lies awake cold and lonely wishing he had his perfect weighted blanket with him.

Beg my pardon. You can't compare comic relief Brad to Tommy. Seriously? Didn't Mr. Showrunner brag about his genius strike to bring Tommy back as Buck's LI because he's connected to the whole team, which brings many possibilities? And now he is putting him on the same level as Brad? That's not quite adding up.

Aside from the fact that this meta plot was introduced as something to be on the side, it took quite a lot of room, ate up a lot of screen time in some of the eight episodes so far and wasn't as nearly as popular as Tevan (BuckTommy).

What did Brad offer as a plot device to any story? If we want to go down that path. Not much. Maybe someone should have a sit down with himself and mull over what was said back in season 7 when Tommy was installed as Buck's boyfriend up to the early interviews for season 8 where he said the words couple, thriving and hurdles. Hurdles are usually overcome. He should have better mentioned hitting a brick wall at full speed, which came with the retconning of the character and a poorly written break-up that left most viewers in a WTF-was-that state of mind. While I dare to say many didn't even bat an eye when Brad left the building.

I’ve thought idly about it before, but now I can’t get it out of my head. They’re really not going to talk about how Chimney and Buck’s hearts both stopped? Chimney flatlined MULTIPLE times, Buck was down for three MINUTES (and seventeen seconds). Man, I know we like to treat Eddie as the repression king of the firefam, but Chim and Buck could really give him a run for his money about their literal deaths. And how crazy is that? Not even a joke between THE brothers-in-law, to cement that they’re both on their healing journeys? Or Maddie talking to one of them about their experiences on screen, and mentioning that the other man she loves as much as them went through the same thing? No Hen suggesting to one of them that they talk about it together, that Buck ask Chim how he dealt with the trauma after Jonah literally killed him in front of Hen?

It is simply pushed to the side in favor of more traumas (yay! but only because I love angst) and injuries. These events happen like 11 episodes apart, probably just a few months apart in-universe. We were so screwed over by season 5 ending on Jonah hurting Chimney and Hen, because we didn’t get even a glimpse of Chim’s healing beyond the hospital room scenes with Maddie and Hen. We got a beautiful start to Buck healing (and repressing) from his own death, and we could’ve had a Buckley-Han bonding scene, without taking away from anything else (Maddie’s schedule, Buck going to Eddie’s), it would’ve just taken a little while longer to clear the storyline. Which didn’t happen until around the time Natalia was broken up with off-screen. Seriously. Give me Buck and Chim making terrible dark humor jokes about their respective deaths, or at least an acknowledge that they both got hit with more electricity than the human body should physically be able to handle. And let Maddie process almost losing her husband and her brother in such similar ways, only months apart!! Not to mention Hen witnessing both of these events!!!

Writers’ room, if you keep ignore the team’s trauma once a new season starts, you’re never going to write a satisfying healing arc. Pleaseeeee release the restraints and go crazy next time!!!
