I've had my wisdom teeth out. Let me share my experience:

• you may not necessarily need anyone to take care of you afterward, but you will need someone to drive you home (the anesthesia or whatever will be used will NOT wear off quick enough for you to drive yourself).

• absolutely get your pain meds at least a couple days before your appointment. Have them with you when you go, so you can take them when needed after the procedure (the gum freezing agent will wear off quicker than you think). Also the pain will last for a few days before it gets better.

• if they tell you to take antibiotics (or whatever they prescribe, I can't remember) after the surgery, take them for as long as instructed. Very important.

• it helps to have an ice pack for the first couple days afterwards. Your jaw will be swollen and sore, and the ice will help a little bit with that.

• speaking of swollen jaw, you won't be able to open your mouth very wide for maybe a week (though the time may vary).

• stitches. They'll come out within a few days, and they might look like little pieces of Mr. Noodles.

• recovery will totally suck for the first few days, but the pain and swelling will subside and the relief from that will be heavenly.

• the actual procedure won't be as bad as you think. You're gonna be drugged up (or possibly unconscious, depends on what your doc thinks would be best), and you won't have a clue what's going on or how long it's taking. Can't worry if you're absolutely zooted.

• if you have any questions (like about what you can eat while recovering, mouth hygiene, etc) don't be afraid to ask the doctor. Even obvious questions.

• it's gonna be such a relief to have this over and done with. Recovery will suck and be annoying, but after that it'll be just one less thing that you have to worry about.

Lord though, the mention of stitches really woke me up 😅😅😅 Stitches in my mouth??? Euuuuuuugh. I'm really not looking forward to this! XD 😅 Luckily my mum has said she'll drive me to and back which is a huge relief! ^^

Also My students are not dumb they are very smart :) It's been maybe 7 weeks? And they already can tell the time and describe their dream day inc. future tense AND themselves. They enjoy describing time because the word "heures" (basically "o'clock") sounds like "euuuuuuugh" in English, like a real sigh of exhaustion, so we do it at the end to Express Our Fatigue and they love it.
