A privately-owned world can never be a free world and a society based upon warring classes cannot stand.
Such a world is a world of strife and hate and such a society can exist only by means of militarism and physical force.

Literally nothing in canon to support it, but I like to believe that Bob and Linda Belcher named their son Gene in honor of Eugene V. Debs.

“Wars throughout history have been waged for conquest and plunder… And that is war, in a nutshell. The master class has always declared the wars; the subject class has always fought the battles… To turn your back on the corrupt Republican Party and the corrupt Democratic Party—the gold-dust lackeys of the ruling class—counts for something. It counts still more...to join a minority party that has an ideal, that stands for a principle, and fights for a cause.” ~ Eugene V. Debs speech December 25th 1921 ~ (born November 5, 1855 – died October 20, 1926)

in honor of my previous queued post, i wanted to share some info about the eugene debs foundation/museum!
it is based in terre haute, indiana, which is very close to where i grew up (we actually passed the museum location very often on our way into terre haute, but i didn't learn the significance of it until i had moved away)
today, i was on their website and discovered they actually have quite a lot of merchandise available for sale! (it does look like they only ship to the US and canda)
they have some books by and about debs, cds of labor songs, and a few truly dope posters and shirts like this one:
they also have virtual tours you can schedule (for free or a donation) for people who may be interested but understandably may never find themselves anywhere near terre haute indiana

This made me look into if anyone had run from prison before and I found about Eugene V. Debs, who ran as The Socialist Party candidate while in prison for sedition in 1920. He received 6% of the popular vote, which to this day is the highest percentage of the vote for a Socialist Party Candidate (which is particularly interesting when you consider that he ran four times previously).
Also he wrote an amazing statement the night of the election:
