Mathilde Rosier (née Ollivier)
Tumblr media
Mathilde Ollivier was born in 1943 in Paris, France, to an upper middle class pure-blood family. Growing up, she was quite sheltered, being kept away from the more liberal views of society at the time, having been raised in a conservative environment.
She was tutored at home by a governess in the early years of her education. Mathilde’s lessons mostly consisted of proper etiquette for young ladies and the values of refinement, which were deeply ingrained in her upbringing.
The young girl was also immersed in the arts and would take piano lessons from a personal instructor. Mathilde’s mother often took pride in her daughter’s proficiency in playing piano, seeing it as a marker of sophistication that would make her more desirable to potential suitors.
Mathilde’s parents instilled one singular prospect: to find a suitable husband and secure her place in society. She spent childhood envisioning herself in a grand life, adorned in beautiful gowns, hosting lavish gatherings, and having a handsome, charming husband that made her the center of his world.
In 1954, Mathilde’s parents enrolled her at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, hoping that the prestigious institution would not only hone her magical talents, but also introduce her to eligible young wizards from influential families, further securing her future in high society.
During her schooling, she pursued her passion in the arts, particularly music and dance. Mathilde became fond of ballet and often performed in theatre productions, showcasing her talent and poise on stage.
She quickly earned a name for herself, especially once she graduated from Beauxbatons. Mathilde was very popular amongst French nobility, obtaining many lead roles that not only highlighted her skill but also drew the attention of influential pure-blood families.
One of these families were the Rosiers, who had heard about the talented ballerina all the way from England. Laurent and Eglantine Rosier were informed that Mathilde would make a promising bride for their son Étienne, who, at thirty-five, had yet to marry.
The Olliviers were quick to accept the marriage proposal and prepared for their first meeting with the Rosier family soon after.
Before Mathilde’s formal introduction to her betrothed, she was to perform for him and his family, which would give Étienne a chance to see her in a more captivating light and hopefully allure him.
From the beginning, Mathilde was eager to please Rosier, as she longed to impress her future husband and gain his approval. She was a naive girl who didn’t fully understand the complexities of love and marriage.
Her youthful optimism blinded her to the deeper aspects at play, leading her to overlook the intended purpose of the union between her and Étienne Rosier.
Laurent and Eglantine were completely enamored by the girl, finding her absolutely charming and the perfect match for their son.
Étienne on the other hand, seemed to be somewhat disinterested by the whole thing. Of course for appearances, he kept his attention on the stage, watching as Mathilde delivered her performance with an enchanting fervor.
He appeared physically there, but mentally and emotionally, Rosier was detached from everything that was going on around him.
Étienne’s thoughts were consumed by the pressures of his own life and the role he was expected to play. He didn’t want to marry Mathilde, but he knew he had a duty to his family to provide an heir for the bloodline.
The wedding took place a mere few weeks later after Mathilde was brought to England. She didn’t know much English at the time, her family having intended for her to marry a Frenchman and remain within her home country, and so everything was foreign to her in the beginning.
Mathilde was only eighteen when she was to marry Étienne Rosier, while her betrothed was seventeen years her senior. In the eyes of her in-laws, she was only just a child who did not yet know what she was getting into, a naive and inexperienced girl who needed guidance and control.
They viewed her youth as a liability, a sign of vulnerability that made her susceptible to the manipulations of her new family. Eglantine and Laurent knew that they needed to expose their daughter-in-law to the reality of the new world she was brought into.
Étienne stifled her spirit and broke her, exposing her to the system her parents had willingly given her to. Mathilde would soon open her eyes to the fact that she was just a pawn in someone else’s game.
He didn’t care for Mathilde, using her only to produce heirs for the family. By 1963, the couple welcomed their first son Evan and word got out that a male heir for the Rosier family had been produced.
Everyone took comfort in the fact that within her first year of marriage to Étienne, she had already proved herself capable of providing her husband an heir.
The birth of her son earned her the acceptance of her new family, for now she was tied to them by blood and through the respect she gained by giving birth to a son.
Shortly after Evan’s birth, Mathilde suffered from postpartum depression, making it difficult to connect with her newborn. She was overwhelmed by the pressures brought upon her by her in-laws who remained cold and distant, not providing her with the comfort or familial connection she longed for.
For a while she isolated herself, finding the presence of her husband and his family daunting at times when she found herself becoming clouded by the dark fog that overtook her mind.
They saw her as being too emotional and sensitive, their attitude towards Mathilde’s mental health being unfeeling. Some even thought she was seeking attention, accusing her of being a spoiled little girl, dismissing her pain as mere dramatics.
Étienne’s lack of attentiveness began taking its toll on her and she began to realize that her husband truly didn’t care about her. She tried her hardest to find common ground with him, even taking the time to learn some of his hobbies and interests.
He did not seem to appreciate her efforts, though. Instead preferring to ignore his wife’s attempt at connection, deepening the strain on his marriage which darkened his home and the childhood of his firstborn.
Mathilde was pitied upon by Druella, who saw the spark within her sister-in-law fade overtime during the years Mathilde remained married to Étienne.
Ella knew that this wasn’t the life Mathilde had wanted for herself; she remembered the vibrant young girl who once dreamed of a fulfilling life with a loving husband. Now her sister-in-law was slowly becoming a shadow of her former self, trapped in a stifling existence.
In 1971, Mathilde had her second son Felix, but there were slight complications during the birth her baby, which would later cause her to fall vulnerable to illness. As a result, she spent weeks on bedrest, trying to recover, and while her health did slightly improve, it declined quickly once more and her life would come to an abrupt end shortly afterwards.
Étienne did not seem that much affected by the sudden death of his wife, and with her absence, he was left alone with Evan and Felix to raise on his own. Although in spite of being the only parent left for his sons, he distanced himself from them and treated them with contempt and indifference.

Here is a continuation of the family tree collaboration project with @konstantynowitz. Originally, my main focus was on the Rosier family, but before we get into that side of the tree, I'm going to introduce you to earlier generations of the Volants. I have been connected to the French branch of the Lestrange family through a Volant ancestor, and this might be a long shot, but just bear with me. Benouét Volant was born in 1794 as the nephew of Jodelle Lestrange (née Volant) who married Floxel Lestrange. In the year 1782, Jodelle had one daughter with her husband: Quintilla Lestrange, the mother of Nozéa Lestrange. Benouét was taken in by his aunt and uncle as a child when his parents died of a dragon pox outbreak. He was raised by Jodelle and Floxel, growing up alongside Quintilla as if she were his elder sister. Benouét later named his son Floxel Volant (I) in honor of his uncle.
Tumblr media
For the time being, I do not have a name for Benouét's spouse, but I suspect that I'll make her a close relative of Floxel maybe through his mother Luminosa. Floxel Volant's mother may be a descendant from the Trouche family as I'm sure Benouét must've interacted with his uncle's extended family growing up, perhaps developing a close relationship with a potential bride through the Trouches.
I believe that Jodelle would have arranged for Benouét to marry a relative of her husband so that he could stay closely connected with the family. Floxel and Jodelle cared for Benouét as if he were their own child, so I think they thought that marrying him off to a Trouche was almost like an affectionate way of officially recognizing their nephew as an adoptive son of sorts.
Tumblr media
Floxel Volant (I) was born in 1826 to BenouĂ©t Volant and his wife, his father was thirty-two at the time of his birth. Floxel remained a bachelor for the majority of his adulthood, enjoying the luxuries and privileges of his family's wealth. He was quite the lady-killer in his youth, so if he did have any children they'd be unacknowledged bastards that he never involved himself with, even if he was aware of their existence. Within the year 1870, at the age of forty-four, an unmarried Floxel impregnated his young mistress at the time, but the only difference between his current mistress and his mistresses of the past was that she also came from an influential French pure-blood family. Because of this, Floxel would be forced to marry his mistress who would later give birth to their only son Étienne Volant.
Something that needs to be acknowledged: I cannot take credit for this next half of the tree, as I had the help of @lazyreinelle when coming up with the backgrounds and names of the characters about to be mentioned. Of course, I've made a few little tweaks of my own when it comes to birth dates and certain aspects of their backstories, but really it is all thanks to the creative mind of @lazyreinelle that I was able to fill in the blanks of the tree.
Étienne Volant was born in 1870 and married Clotilde de Trefle-Picques, a seemingly mild-mannered girl, yet popular because of her family. She is betrothed off to Étienne during her penultimate year at Beauxbatons. Despite being ten years her senior, Étienne often acted like a man-child and was incredibly irresponsible. So, when it came to raising children, he would mostly never be around, goofing around in bars or sleeping with any veela he met. Clotilde had to raise her children: an elder daughter Eglantine (b. 1904), and two younger twin sons Floxel (II) and Claude (b. 1906), all by herself naturally instilling them with rather harsh views of blood purity.
In spite of his absence, Étienne was closest to his daughter Eglantine, who inherited his free-spirit, although it was much more reigned in than her father's was. Even so, she was frequently challenging authority and diving headfirst into escapades that left her mother exasperated. Clotilde always cursed her husband for passing on such a wild spirit to Eglantine, wishing instead that their daughter possessed a more measured temperament that would ease her worries and keep her out of trouble. Eglantine did not want to follow the expected societal norms for young witches of the time, nor did she wish to conform to the wishes and expectations of a future spouse, believing that her personal freedoms should be valued if she were to find herself married one day. Eglantine Volant harbored a fondness for her father, as he was the only one who could ever understand her. He never saw her as being unreasonable when voicing her standards for a hypothetical husband. Clotilde always believed that her daughter was being ridiculous when forming these ideas of a marriage of compromise, dismissing them as fanciful daydreams. Whenever Étienne was around he'd spoil his little daughter with small gifts and let her skip piano lessons or her early homeschooling to spend time "adventuring" with him on the estate's property. She grew up knowing that her father was not a dependable man, but that did not make him a bad parent to his children, at least during the times he occasionally visited them.
Tumblr media
The Volants were deeply in debt because of Étienne's tendencies to gamble away a lot of his inheritance at the bars he frequented at. Clotilde, who came from a family who specialized in concealment charms, was able to hide the decline in the Volant's wealth by casting mirages that could make a simple lump of coal appear to be a bar of gold or some type of jewel. These charms especially helped in regard to paying off Étienne's debts, often conning the people he owed money to with his wife's illusions. Although, after a while, the charm of their fabricated wealth began to wear off and those who Étienne paid his debts to with these charmed objects would find out that they were tricked once the enchantments wore off.
As a result, one night when Étienne was drunk at a bar, he was confronted by one of the men he conned. Étienne was challenged in a magical duel by the man, but ultimately lost and was killed. This is why Clotilde was overjoyed when Eglantine got a proposal from the Rosier family, especially Laurent Rosier. The Rosiers, having already established themselves long back in France, were practically akin to wizarding nobility, matching the Blacks. Eglantine's marriage ensured that the Volants would not go bankrupt and reinstated stability within the family.
Featured at the top, is a tree which connects the Rosier family to the French branch of the Lestrange family. As I mentioned in my first post for the tree, Laurent Rosier is the great-great-nephew of Minette Rosier, making him third cousins with Leta Lestrange and her younger half-brother Corvus V. In addition to this, Laurent's father was first cousins with FÚlicule Lestrange (née Rosier), also known as F. Lestrange, the grandmother of Radolphus Lestrange II.
Tumblr media
To give you guys a little bit more background of Clotilde Volant (née de Trefle-Picques), she was born to Adélard Duc de Trefle-Picques, a descendant of Vincent Duc de Trefle-Picques, a French nobleman and wizard active around the time of the French Revolution. Her mother was originally introduced as Faustine Escoffier-Floquet, but I changed my mind and renamed her as TouÚnette de Trefle-Picques (née Beaufort). There is not much I have to tell you about them right now, but soon I will post another update on this tree and hopefully by that time I'll have a little more to share on them. As for their grandsons, Eglantine's younger brothers that were created by @lazyreinelle: Floxel II and Claude Volant, I do have a bit more to share about them.
Floxel Volant II married Pascaline Volant (née Perrott), a classmate of his elder sister during her years at Beauxbatons. Floxel had a few children with Pascaline, namely their daughter Ghislaine Volant. There are a few more which I will be sharing in the near future, but right now Ghislaine is the only one who will be mentioned at the moment since the other children have more expanded and complex trees in regard to their future descendants.
Before Floxel's marriage to Pascaline, Clotilde started to be a lot more harsh with him, scrutinizing every move of his, and forcibly making him meet potential brides for him yet not allowing him to choose. The Volant heir longed to be free like his twin, Claude without any worry in the world, without someone constantly breathing down your neck. Being the older twin by five minutes was perhaps the only thing Floxel could uphold Claude over. The younger had all the other luxuries to bed, flirt with any one he liked, regardless of blood-status. As the second son, Claude was the spare and therefore didn't have as much responsibility to the family. Claude could often cross the line, becoming even worse than his father Étienne.
Claude Volant was notorious for philandering about, oftentimes bedding attractive veela ballerinas. He would later be disowned by his family for impregnating his veela mistress, leading to a bitter estrangement that would cause him to lose contact with his elder sister and twin brother.
Well, that's it for now! The next post I make will probably be more focused on the Rosier-Volant descendants, and maybe I'll give a little more insight on the Rosier family itself, especially Laurent and Vinda Rosier's parents.

Radolphus Lestrange II - Lestrange Sr
Nicknames: Rue, Rudolph
His patronus is a fox (an animal which usually represents cunningness and deception)
Radolphus is of German, French, and Iranian descent; his father is German and French while his mother is Iranian and German.
He had one younger sister Gisela who was seven years younger than him. She died when she was four from Cerebrumous Spattergroit in 1936.
Étienne Rosier - Rosier Sr
He is the elder brother of Druella Rosier.
The Rosiers were kinda like the Lestranges of the 1940s in regard to their association to powerful dark wizards. At the time, Étienne’s family were Grindelwald’s most loyal acolytes, much how like the Lestranges were Voldemort’s most valued followers.
He had a reputation in the school because of this since everyone knew his aunt was Grindelwald’s right-hand man woman.
Étienne never met Grindelwald in person but everyone assumed that he did and a lot of false rumors started going around the school about how he was a spying on Dumbledore for the Alliance.
Sergei Dolohov
Nicknames: Seryozha (not many people outside of his family call him this tho)
He was born in Russia and attended Koldovstoretz, but he was expelled and so his family sent him to England where he enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Sergei is Antonin Dolohov’s uncle, he himself never went on to have children; Sergei wasn’t much of a family man in all honesty, he liked his freedom.
Notorious for uprooting a tree on Hogwarts grounds and flying on it like a broom around the school.

Note
people are sending non-wda ocs sO aries, andromeda, or elaine indulge me
your fave(s) is problematic: aries doppler, andromeda hawkins, and elaine rosier (( they ain’t gotta blog whoops ))
lets start with aries fckn doppler
first of all she’s got a habit for throwing temper tantrums
is also super good at holding a grudge uh oh
miss “i know i’m better than you so fuck off”
tbh shes chill though
can control the weather and once made it rain in her dorm room during sexy times whoops that was fun
thinks shes badass
is actually badass but
more of that cinnamon roll type badass
beat the ever loving shit out of kalei once but kalei deserved it so whoops
was very open to will about how she thought olive was banana balls insane
is actually will hawkins wife they have a son his name is orion and he’s got will’s eyes what a great kid
uses her supernatural beauty is a manipulative advantage every now and then bc why not man
i think she drop kicked leo once tell me if im wrong steph i might be wrong
oh speaking of leo thats kalei’s twin brother r yall shook u should be
we have....a lot of characters in our own private wda verse
like
a lot
MY MOST PURE CHILD ANDROMEDA HAWKINS
she’s more self deprecating than kalei can you believe it
tbh she’s not the problematic one in this situation but u kno who is
jim hawkins
what a douche
he cheated on his wife and got someone else pregnant and when he dipped out on will and madeline he decided to raise andy
U CANT JUST
DITCH A FAMILY FOR A NEW ONE
THAT AINT HOW THIS WORKS JIMBO
anyways i can’t actually think of ways that she’s problematic because ... she’s not
her backstory is
but it’s too triggering for me to talk about here tbh
seriously this kid is so pure
enough that pollux silver took a liking 2 her
after she’d been crushing on him 4ever
so that’s a thing
haha
they’re adorable and i love them and they deserve all the happiness
does blaming herself for everything bad ever count as problematic?
yes?
ok then there we go.
belle and adam’s adopted child ah yes my sweet elaine
very resentful of her parents sometimes bc when she wasnt paying attention they were always mourning the loss of their twins etienne and katriane
they never thought she noticed but
she did
fun fact their twins arent actually dead but im not going into detail on that one
gives too much away
she once almost set her boyfriend on fire
actually i think she did set him on fire
did she set him on fire stephanie
i think she did
he also went to the hospital once and she refused to visit him
was very antisocial and probably would tell u to fuck off if u tried to approach her
liked books more than she liked people
kalei pelekai beat the ever loving shit out of her once that was fun
gotta love fights
i really think she set leo on fire
she set a lot of people on fire
and never actually apologized for it until it was too late #oops
she was a shitty person for a while
very resentful
much bitter
lots of anger
tons of ‘i hate you leave me alone’
shes decent now
very quirky and fun
idk how it happened but !!
these r my kids i guard them with my life

Clemson Dominates Miami to Win the A.C.C. Crown
Tumblr media
Clemson’s Travis Etienne opened the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown before Bryant’s twisting, 11-yard run gave the Tigers a 14-0 first-quarter lead. It was essentially over after that as the Hurricanes (10-2, No. 7 C.F.P.) have lost two straight after rising to No. 2 in the C.F.P. two weeks ago.
Miami fell apart in the third quarter with a pair of Malik Rosier interceptions leading to 10 points

for shopping: le marais (near rue charlot), rue charonne and etienne marcel (metro station). if you get hungry, my fav places to eat are rue des rosiers (old jewish quarter).
