Jewish Flag
PT: Jewish Flag /end PT
ID: a flag cut in two horizontally. The top part is white and the bottom is tyrian purple. There is a silhouette of the Magen David in the center, also cut in two horizontally. The top is tyrian purple and the bottom is white. END ID
A flag for including all of the Jews of the world. This flag stands for support and solidarity between all of us, regardless of language, place·s of origin and residence, political views, religious conversion, practice, denomination or lack thereof, matrilineal descent, patrilineal descent or exclusively Jewish upbringing, visible or invisible Jewishness, ethnic and/or religious Jewishness, etc.
Purpose:
PT: Purpose: /end PT
Many Jews today find themselves without a flag to identify with. With the only mainstream Jewish flags representing either Israel or political/ethnic divisions, many may feel unrepresented by the lack of designs to showcase pride in all of the Jewish people without restrictions to language, location, ethnicity, or specific religious belief. This flag seeks to rectify this dilemma by presenting an all-encompassing design for all Jews to feel at-home with.
Design:
PT: Design: /end PT
The design is meant to be simple, yet easily recognisable and historically meaningful. The white symbolises joy in Judaism and water, since water connect all of us across continents. The flag uses argaman (aka tyrian purple), white and a silhouette of the Magen David (aka star of David) for a distinctive simplified design that unites all of us through a common history.
Design by KiwiVexArt Etsy (link) and Instagram (link). Originally posted on Etsy (link), I reposted it.
Here's each part of the flag.
ID: The Magen David of the flag alone, on a transparent background. END ID
ID: The tyrian purple and white background of the flag without the Magen David. END ID
We (KiwiVexArt and I) revised the description on 21 October 2024. For archival purposes, under the cut is the original description.
Description of the flag by the creator, KiwiVexArt:
"A flag for all of the Jews of the world! Many Jews today find themselves without a flag to identify with, believing the only option to be the banner of Zionism aka the flag of Israel. This, though, is a flag to represent all Jews worldwide regardless of nationality or political belief using the original tyrian purple colour of the Jews before the creation of Zionist belief so as to unite all peoples through a common history."
Note: the creator's description might accidentally lead you to think that blue is a colour of Zionism or Israel, which is wrong since blue is the colour of Judaism/Jewishness, not Zionism or Israel.

The word "tribe" can have negative connotations for Westerners. These connotations include:
Primitivity
Denoting an era of uncivilization that Westerners have evolved from
Prejudice
Describing situations where people negatively pit themselves as a group against others
Savage
For European missionaries and explorers who went out to conquer people, the word “tribal” was synonymous to “savage” and “primitive”
Myth of primitive African timelessness
The concept of tribe became a cornerstone for European colonial rule in Africa
Jan 25, 2021 — (Ironically, I have a degree in anthropology and I think it's a fascinating discipline; Good thing my favorite anthro professor back in my university days wisely recommended that we understand the controversies around the term.) Truth be told, it offends many people. Here's why: #1 For European missionaries and explorers who went out to conquer people, the word “tribal” was synonymous to “savage” and “primitive.” It's mainstream connotation is rooted in colonial-era racist ideology. The word immediately conjures stereotypical imagery of brown people with bones in their noses or naked warriors running around in a rainforest.
The East African
So you belong to a tribe? Are you primitive, barbaric ... or savage? - The East African
Jul 21, 2020 — Personal Offensiveness. ... "Tribe" promotes a myth of African timelessness. In the West, "tribal" often implies "savage" "Tribe" reflects widespread bu outdated 19th-century social theory. The concept of tribe became a cornerstone for European colonial rule in Africa.
The term “tribe” is vague,

Peranakans in Australia
The Peranakans are an ethnic group defined by their genealogical descent from the first waves of Southern Chinese settlers to maritime Southeast Asia, known as Nanyang (Chinese: 南洋; pinyin: nán yáng; lit. 'Southern Ocean'), namely the British Colonial ruled ports in the Malay Peninsula and the Indonesian Archipelago, as well as Singapore. Peranakan culture, especially in the dominant Peranakan centres of Malacca, Singapore, Penang, Phuket and Tangerang, is characterized by its unique hybridization of ancient Chinese culture with the local cultures of the Nusantara region, the result of a centuries-long history of transculturation and interracial marriage. x

I am actually a Native person who has always gone by animal names, both my deadname and every name I've used as a trans person, and I think if you have a Native character who you feel would have a nature name (because of hippy parents or because they're trans or whatever), then you can avoid stereotypes by having ~more than one Native character~
I know, it's a shocking concept, but it's actually pretty easy to avoid contributing to stereotypes in your works when you remember that you are allowed to have more than one character from the same ethnic and/or racial group. Just have a different Native character with a "normal" name. Problem solved. Have fun.
#obviously it's more complicated than this in some ways#but a lot of it really does come down to using one character as a representation of an entire ethnic group

You know what actually baffles me to no end? The zionist attempt to make you seem antisemitic with questions like "Do you think Jews deserve a national homeland? If not, then think hard about why Jews are the only people who don't." What is that assumption that I believe any other ethnic-religious group would "deserve" a national homeland? What world are these people living in? Like... What other ethnicity/religious group has been given land (by people whose land it wasn't even to give) to make their "national homeland"? Seriously? What other ethnostates are there and who would think that is a moral concept to begin with?
People have always migrated and mingled. Even my country, which is a small and rather homogeneous one on an international scale, consists of many different peoples living together.
Nationalists are weird.

Mahut (מהות): a Jewish-exclusive gender term for genders with unexpected, uncommon, and/or undefinable experiences. They might be defined as 'different,' in any way that a gender can be different. Such as distortion, unpredictability, inconsistency, detachment, connection, being influenced by emotion, mental state, beliefs, relationships, and environment, or defined by an object, concept, sound, image, idea, aesthetic, outside force or other target that isn't typically associated as something involved with gender identity.
Mahut is not an umbrella term; a Mahut is someone whose gender is affected by things like music, mental illness, relationships, all unusual experiences that don't fit any other category.
Any Mahut can experience being Mahut differently from another but the shared trait is that their experience isn't within the experience that other Jewish genders follow. It's also a term for a gender experience that can only be defined by what it's not, but any pinpointing further than that is difficult.
The closest non-Jewish genders that would resemble this one is this gender would be xenogenders, complex genders, neurogenders, relationship genders, orientationgenders, and many others.
mahut flag
I made it because couldn’t find anything for this term created before, it is partly inspired by @/themogaidragon 's rekani flag (because both terms have common features idk)

Jewish Anarchism Flag
PT: Jewish Anarchism Flag /end PT
ID: a completely black flag with in the center a white symbol composed of a circle with the Hebrew Aleph inside. The Hebrew letter Aleph consists of a diagonal line that connects two horizontal lines at the top and bottom. The upper line is slightly longer than the lower line, creating a shape that resembles a stylized X with a vertical line through the middle. END ID
Jewish anarchism: a political movement that combines elements of anarchism with Jewish thought and culture. It advocates for a society without hierarchical structures or centralized authority, emphasizing individual freedom, mutual aid, and community cooperation. Jewish anarchists often draw on Jewish traditions, texts, and values to support their beliefs in social justice, equality, and critique of oppressive systems.
No know creator for the design since it is a widely used one since years.

What is the difference between Mazandaranis and other Persians? Why are Mazandaranis called Persian in Turkey and Azerbaijan?
Mazandaranis are an ethnic group native to the Mazandaran province in northern Iran. They are considered Persians because they are part of the larger Persian-speaking population in Iran and share a common cultural and linguistic heritage. However, they have their own unique cultural and linguistic characteristics that distinguish them from other Persian-speaking groups.
In Turkey and Azerbaijan, the term "Persian" is sometimes used as an umbrella term to refer to all people of Iranian origin, regardless of their specific ethnic background. This is due to historical and cultural connections between Iran, Turkey, and Azerbaijan, as well as a lack of detailed knowledge about the different ethnic groups within Iran.
It's important to note that the use of the term "Persian" in Turkey and Azerbaijan does not reflect the official classification used in Iran, where each ethnic group is recognized and protected as distinct.

lemonade mouth/band au! more notes under the cut
lemonade as in like the disney movie! so there are a couple like clear comparisons but mostly it's the bad kids get stuck in detention together except they form a band instead of an adventuring party
fabian > no equivalent (olivia vibes)
the most popular kid at school who is both in dance and on the football team. somehow gets decent grades as well. no close friends, but a lot of people who know him and want to get on his good side. kind of depressed, and his dad's currently in prison. he started playing the guitar as a way to show off and then genuinely started enjoying it
adaine > mo
she's a concert violist (playing the viola) always an accompaniment for her sister and is striking it out on her own for the first time. her family is very upset about this, and consistently puts her down so she'll go along with they want her to do. also she recently transitioned to going to public school for the first time, making her the new girl.
kristen > no equivalent
she's recently ex mormon, got out of her parents house (currently living in her car) and without all of her former friends stuck in a student president position that she got when she was still with the religion. questioning her sexuality after one too many encounters with the soccer team captain, tracker. used to be on the church choir, was a bit too enthusiastic about it.
gorgug > no equivalent (charlie vibes)
he's got like one or two kinda friends (mainly fig). extremely busy with his classes and with marching band and self isolating as a result. he's stressed out about living up to his parent's name (they run a very successful electric engineering company). signed up to work as a sound tech for the theatre department bc one of the female stage managers is very cute (zelda) and then discovered that he rlly like it.
riz > no equivalent
no friends! (other than maybe the AV club + penny) too used to burying himself in work at both his part time gig and with his insane amount of extracurriculars. started playing the piano bc he heard it helps with memory retention and overall cognitive ability.
fig > stella/wen
she's the cool loner skater kid who is the floater friend mostly? she's got a maybe relationship with ayda, who she loves to annoy at the school library. very interested in making her own music not very interested in school. freaking out over her parents getting remarried. her mom enrolled her in music lessons when she was younger, and it's one of the only things she can talk about with her mom these days.
