DO NOT BE PICKY WITH YOUR ACTIVISM. if you can post about palestine's genocide (which you should be), speak up about all of them. you cannot be selective in your activism. its HUMAN civil rights, not SOME civil rights.

$3,064/$30,000
This campaign was started by @/atute_insp on tiktok and her team Mutual Aim to collect money for the DRC, Sudan, and Tigray. The donations will be divided between the three causes. If you would like do donate but don't have the funds to donate to multiple campaigns, this is a great way to help both the Congo, Sudan, and Tigray.

really sick and tired of people saying “how can this be happening in our time??” “imagine screaming for help and no one listens” “why is no one doing anything??” “how could I be witnessing a genocide in 2024?” Black people are still going through ethnic cleansing today from colonialism of Africa to the trans atlantic slave trade to chattel slavery to Jim Crow to mass incarceration to BLM to Cop City. We have been begging and screaming and crying for help, for mercy, for people to wake up and pay attention and you guys have ignored us and continue to do so. If you are saying Free Palestine but you dgaf about BLM, you’re not speaking up about Cop Cities or you’re not educating yourself on DRC, Sudan, Haiti, Ethiopia, etc., you are and always have been apart of the problem. You have blatantly ignored Black bodies being murdered mercilessly in the streets, being robbed of clean water at Flint and Atlanta, our Black towns being bombed, gentrification of Black neighborhoods, our lack of reparations and so much more. I don’t want to hear anymore “how could they do this?? why does no one care??” because you guys didn’t care when it began, when it happened and as it’s happening right in front of you!! Where do you think Israel and most Western countries get their inspiration for colonialism and ethnic cleansing from?? Black people across the globe are still going through ethnic cleansing TODAY and have been since white colonialism touched Africa!! We have been on the front lines of most movements and you guys ignored us, called us violent, called us angry, called us ignorant. We’ve been saying we are not free until we are all free and everyone moved on with their lives and said “well this doesn’t affect me.” If you’re not going to check your anti-blackness at the door, be prepared for a failed revolution.

Donate to Help IDPs
Shared and hosted by tigrayupdate:
“Seeing our people suffering for so long brings tears. We should all contribute whatever little as we celebrate the New Year with hope of the repatriation to their homes.
Since the onset of the Genocidal War in Tigray in November 2020, over 2 million people have been displaced or ethnically cleansed due to the violence. Although some have managed to return to their homes after enduring harsh conditions in IDP camps, hundreds of thousands are still stuck in these camps, unable to go back due to the Governments' failure to implement the Pretoria Agreement.
Nearly four years have passed since our people were forced from their homes, which remain occupied by #Amhara and #Eritrean forces. Let's support those still suffering and work towards a brighter future for them.”
$825 AUD raised of $5,000 goal

The term "Rastafari" derives from "Ras Tafari Makonnen", the pre-regnal title of Haile Selassie, the former Ethiopian emperor who occupies a central role in Rasta belief. The term "Ras" means a duke or prince in the Ethiopian Semitic languages; "Tafari Makonnen" was Selassie's personal name. It is unknown why the early Rastas adopted this form of Haile Selassie's name as the basis of the term for their religion. As well as being the religion's name, "Rastafari" is also used for the religion's practitioners themselves. Many commentators—including some academic sources and some practitioners—refer to the movement as "Rastafarianism". However, the term is disparaged by many Rastafari, who believe that the use of -ism implies religious doctrine and institutional organisation, things they wish to avoid.

Ras (Amharic: ራስ, romanized: ras, lit. 'head' compare with Arabic Rais or Hebrew Rosh), is a royal title in the Ethiopian Semitic languages. It is one of the powerful non-imperial titles.
Historian Harold G. Marcus equates the Ras title to a duke;[citation needed] others have compared it to "prince".
The combined title of Leul Ras (Amharic: ልዑል ራስ) was given to the heads of the cadet branches of the Imperial dynasty, such as the Princes of Gojjam, Tigray, Ras Tafari Makonnen and the Selalle sub-branch of the last reigning Shewan Branch, and meaning "Lord of Lords", the highest title of lord.

I have this one client who is disabled and needs caretakers. Recently a new nurse has started working with him, a guy named T*. Today we were getting to know each other better and he mentioned being from northern Ethiopia.
It took me a couple of seconds to connect and then like the autistic idiot that I am, I blurted out, “Oh shit! Did your family survive??”
Thankfully he was mostly surprised that I’d even heard of Tigray (which I discovered I had been pronouncing wrong: it’s tig-RAI, not TIE-gray) or the genocide carried out there by the Ethiopian government. He then related that he was one of about a dozen people in the States who raised awareness of what was happening, showing me a picture of him and other advocates standing with U.S. senators in DC. He also said that he could never go home again because of his advocacy work: the Ethiopian government has his name and those of every other person who went to the U.S. government to get them to stop the genocide.
Basically I met a goddamned hero today. He probably saved millions of lives and there he was sitting across from me, helping to keep my client with cerebral palsy from involuntarily rolling off my massage table.
(*name withheld for safety reasons. He wasn’t worried about the Ethiopian government coming to nab him but I’m not about to take that chance, especially not after what happened to Hardeep Singh Nijjar.)

Boycott!
Tumblr media
Now that I have your attention:
------------------------------
Unfortunately, my battery is running low, I know that there are a lot of collections from Gaza, but I thought that I would be able to create another post with collections from Sudan, Congo, Syria and Haiti, but well, it didn't work out, and the question is whether I will talk about it tomorrow remember, because if something bad happens, unfortunately, stress can erase something from your memory

The healthcare needs for the people of Tigray are wide-ranging and overwhelming. Beyond life-saving medication and medical equipment, the people of Tigray need access to nutrition, clean water, vaccines, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to fight against infectious diseases such as TB and the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the concerted efforts of donors and medical professionals HPN4Tigray is working to support unmet critical needs. We are currently spearheading projects in the region: providing life-saving medication such as insulin, malnutrition prevention programs for children under 5 who are currently Internally Displaced (IDP) populations, and clean water initiatives to prevent the breakout of cholera and other waterborne diseases. The vision of HPN4Tigray stretches beyond the current crisis and aims to continue partnering with medical institutions and NGOs on the ground to rehabilitate and rebuild communities. As individuals and health professionals we have an obligation to act during this dire humanitarian crisis and work to alleviate the suffering of future generations.
