TW: Slightly Suggestive
On a beautiful sunny day, we had our wedding ceremony in a serene seaside church.
Kate: âElbert, waitä¸nnn!â
As soon as we entered our room after the ceremony, he hugged me and took my lips.
Still in my wedding dress, he pinned me to the wall like a butterfly specimen, and all I could do was accept the sudden rush of sweet stimulation he was giving me.
Elbert: âI wonât wait.â
Kate: âAh...â
He pressed his lips to my throat, bit my neck, and let his tongue wander, leaving behind marks to carve the proof of his obsession.
(Elbert...)
It makes me happy to receive his unusually intense obsession.
His kindness, the deep void in his chest, and the sins he carriesä¸I have fallen in love with all of it.
Elbert: âI almost crushed all the eyes that were looking at you during the ceremony.â
He whispered, tracing my neck with his lips as if admiring the pulsating heartbeat beneath my delicate skin.
Kate: âNgh...ahh...â
A sweet numbness rushed through me, causing my legs to feel weak.
He stared at my reaction with his blue eyes, and the breath that escaped from his lips felt warm as it brushed against my chest.
Elbert: âYour breath, heartbeat, warmth, eyes, voice, and everything elseä¸I wonât let anyone take it away, Kate.â
The pained, loving sound in his voice made my heart ache.
Kate: "Elbert..."
Elbert: "No, I won't let go."
Kate: "You don't have to let go. It's okay."
Kate: "I want to hold you too."
Elbert: "........."
Elbert's hand, holding my wrist in place, suddenly loosened.
I put my free arms around his back and hugged him tightly.
Kate: "It's okay."
Kate: "Carve yourself more into me."
Even if we exchanged vows of eternal love, our bodies and hearts remained separate.
We could never truly become one.
That's why we could suffer, struggle, and love each other like this.
Kate: "Since we can't become one, please give me all of you instead."
Elbert: "Nn..."
He rubbed his forehead against my shoulder.
Elbert: "I'm sorry. Even if I know it may hurt you, I can't stop myself."
Elbert: "I apologize in advance."
Kate: "There's something romantic about an empty church."
The church at midnight was quiet and still, with a blue glow that made it seem as if time had stopped.
In the silence, only the sounds we made reverberated.
Elbert: "Kate, turn around a little."
Kate: "Like this?"
Elbert: "Your veil is inside out."
He quickly fixed my veil.
Kate: "Mn..."
A sigh escaped my lips as his fingers grazed my skin, still lingering with a sweet afterglow.
I wore my disheveled wedding dress and came here to have our wedding ceremony again with just the two of us.
Kate: "Thank you. Do I look beautiful now?"
Elbert: "Yes."
Elbert: "You're the most beautiful bride in the world."
His eyes, like the sea, still have a faintly dark and unfathomable color, and his gaze captivated me, never letting me go.
Elbert: "Kate."
He gently lifted my veil and carefully cupped my cheek.
Elbert: "I want a pledge that no one else has heard."
Elbert: "I want a kiss that no one else sees."
Elbert: "I want something you'll only give me."
My heart trembled sweetly at his thirsty plea.
His greedy, loving wish was the reason for this second ceremony.
Kate: "I'm happy, Elbert."
(I want to love you by accepting all your wishes and desires, whatever they may be.)
Kate: "I vow to love you at all times, even when these lips have stopped breathing."
Kate: "Always and forever."
Elbert: "Kate."
Whispering my vows like a secret, I closed my eyes, and his lustful kisses fell on my lips.
Kate: "Nn..."
My entire body trembled with the joy of being able to accept it.
Elbert: "I love you, Kate."
Elbert: "I want all of you so bad it's driving me crazy."
His crazy obsession entangled my heart.
Elbert: "Even if one day I really do go crazy, I will still always love you."
I smiled back at his painful and happy pledge, and his arms hugged me tightly as if to hide me from the world.
(I want to be trapped forever.)
In this painful yet blissful embrace.

Now Iâm Not Saying That I Should Be Allowed To Design Servants For Fate, But....
Summer Unit, Caster Chiron has Arrived! As the immortal Caretaker and Teacher of Mount Pelion, thereâs little doubt that he knows all the tips and tricks to survive a coastal month in the sun. Whatâs that? The Constellation is wrong? Sagittarius? Donât be silly, Chironâs always embodied the Constellation Centaurus. Always.
Costume Dress(es), Individual Stills for the new Sprites (Asc 3), Notes, and Taglist below the cut :)
That "Always" bit is meant to be somewhat ominous which hints at the whole "rewriting and creating heroes" idea in my last post about this Eternal Summer Stage event.
And if i am to be 100% honest, I don't quite like the final result still in terms of the toga, however, I know that if I keep working on it it will never get done and that's just the way that artists are lol. The effects and everything else though? Beyond what I was even expecting for it to turn out as.
Anywho.
In terms of design, I was mostly just going for the "Dad who has the Cooler" with a casual look for the first two designs and the costume dress really isn't a drastic change either just being called Hatless. The final ascension was a more divine feel where you get that connection with the stars and space that Chiron has due to his constellations. The Costume change there is just "Divine Blessing". I honestly couldn't pick between the two colors so. Costume Dress.
So. Anyways. Each of the stars in the final ascension design are the major "Centauri" stars within Centaurus, the Constellation that Chiron/his NP is embodying here rather than Sagittarius.
The large star that Chiron has in hand is Theta Centauri, also called Menkent, and then the ones on the staff are Alpha-Gamma Centauri.
The top three stars are Alpha Centauri or Rigil Kentaurus and Toliman, and Proxima Centauri. The three make up the full Alpha Centauri as the two blue stars are a binary system that Proxima orbits
The middle two are Beta Centauri or Hadar and Agena, another binary star pair
The lower two are Gamma Centauri which is another binary star group but are unnamed
Actually, the myth of Centaurus is a little wonky because certain texts refer to Centaurus as the Father of all Centaurs and the constellation is because he put an image of himself in the sky where others point to it being the other constellation that Zeus turned Chiron into instead of Sagittarius. Honestly, I'm more inclined to the latter due to conflicting texts about mount Pelion and the Centaurs themselves as it's implied that Chiron was already on Pelion before the other Centaurs arrived in some texts
("The Kentauroi were spawned by the cloud-nymph Nephele after she was violated by the impious Lapith king Ixion. She deposited her double-formed brood on Mount Pelion where they were nursed by the daughters of the immortal kentauros Kheiron (Chiron).")
So at least in this/my version of Myth/Fate, Centaurus is Chiron as a Caster and Healer but no less a teacher, rather than the more combat-ready and "war-like" Sagittarius.
I don't have everything mapped out, but I do have skills and NP sorta created, if I actually ever get to the full thing, who is to say lmao.
1st Skill: Seaside Planning
Buffs Healing Skill (self), Attack up (all units)
2nd Skill: Teacher's Guiding Hand
Target Focus (1 turn), Invincibility (1 turn), Defense up for all units, Battlefield change to Forest
3rd Skill: Blessing of Artemis / Blessing of Apollo (costume change)
Applies "Blessings of the Moon" or âBlessings of the Sunâ to all units ( Defense Up, Heal Per Turn, NP gain Up, Crit Up)
Noble Phantasm: Hunt of Lupus: Protector of Mount Pelion | Quick
Rank: A NP Type: Anti-Personnel Range: 5-99 Maximum Targets: 1
A single target Noble Phantasm much like Antares Snipe, however, while Sagittarius uses a bow, Centaurus uses his staff to sweep through and pierce the body of Lupus. This is the story of Chiron. However, here, his job is not finished. The slaying of "Lupis" ends, and thus the Teacher and protector of Pelion returns to those he protects and tends to them.
At its base, one could call it the Single Target version of Geronimo's Tsago Degi Naleya in which it deals damage and heals the party after.
"Entrust to me the stars and my Guiding hand shall lead you, o watchmen of the night. I encircle myself twice with the seven heavenly bodies so that I may continue my role among the stars. You who has woken me, fall. Hunt of Lupus."
Truth be told, still workshopping the Noble Phantasm, but it's fine, it's out there as a concept. It's a lot like Antares Snipe though, I guess? Because I did want to lean into the Greek and Constellation side of things and just. Oh well. Originally, though, I was going to make Chiron and Chariclo one Servant, and then have their Noble Phantasm be Chariclo's ("Lifeblood of Mount Pelion") but then split them up because idk I enjoy hell. They're both casters though, because I refuse to put more Rulers into the already bloated Ruler cast.
I do not have voice lines at the moment despite the fact that I have all of Chariclo and all of Agravain's finished lol

fic begings under here
in the last part of "the ring":
you watched jake stand in front of tarsem as he slices the oloâeyktanâs chest, symbolically killing jake, which made tarsem the new oloâeyktan of the clan you would be leaving shortly. as your family left, you turned around to tarsem. âiâm proud of you, tarsem. until we meet again.â you press all three fingers to the top of your head and sweep it down slightly to the bridge of your nose, before departing from your face downward. âoel ngati kameie, oloâeytkan tarsem. thanks for being by my side and making me the warrior i am today.â âthank you y/n. until we meet again.â he hugs you, his first trainee, for maybe the last time, before you follow your family to their ikrans. unbeknownst to you, tarsem shed a little tear when you left.
you flew for many hours⌠so many hours you started getting serious back pain from sitting on your ikran, sometimes with tuk, sometimes not.
âhow long do we have to fly? it feels like weâve been flying for an eternity, dad!â loâak asked, with a little hint of whining in his voice.
as you flew out of a cloud, you could see a beautiful seaside village, teal-coloured naâvi sat in round pools of water, which looked like hot springs to you, and some naâvi rode on very long creatures that moved through the water so efficiently and marvelously, you were just staring at them.
as your ikrans flew closer to the ground, you noticed that these naâvi looked different, their eyes were bigger and featured a blue or green color rather than the yellow ones you were used to. their forearms and lower legs had expanded to include a fin-like structure, which you later learned was known as a 'strake', and the tails were broadened to form a paddle shape.
as you landed on the sand, it didnât take long for your teal-coloured brothers and sisters to surround the blue, foreign naâvi that showed up unannounced.
tuk was awoken from her slumber as you landed, âare we there y/n?â she said, still half asleep.
âyes we are tuk.â you said as you dismounted your ikran and carried her down to the sand.
her eyes widened as she took in the new environment she was witnessing. she eyed up the teal naâvi the same way they did, you found it pathetic from them to stare at you all like you were a completely different species. tuk walked forward curiously as neytiri grabbed her bow from her ikran.
âhey. leave it.â jake said to her. she obliged with a gruff sound, putting the bow back. jake turned to you and your siblings. âon me.â
âtuk?â you said, extending your hand for her to grab onto it.
âbe niceâ neytiri instructed you as she extended her hand for tuk to grab onto it. tuk looked at you with an expression you interpreted as her asking you âcan i?â which you nodded to. neytiri nodded back to you.
âheyâ jake said nervously. it had been the first time youâd heard him this nervous in months, if not years.
a murmur went through the crowd of your teal brothers and sisters, as they recognized jake sully, toruk makto and, until recently, oloâeyktan of the omatikaya clan. they eyed all seven of you curiously, especially jake, kiri and loâak since they had five fingers and faint signs of eyebrows.
a young, teal naâvi, with a hairstyle the sky people called âman bunâ or something like that, and his friend, you assumed, cut through the crowd like a newly sharpened knife through prey when hunting. you, neteyam and loâak greeted them with the gesture you do while saying oel ngati kameie, but none of you three said the words.
âeasy, just be cool.â jake reminded you three.
âlook, what is that?â the shorter of the two teal boys said. âis that supposed to be a tail?â
you whipped your tail in their direction, although doing so slowly, they still took a step back. âwoah woah woah!â they laughed.
you turned to see what your brothers were doing, as you saw both of them staring at a girl - you had to admit, was really beautiful - as she dismounted the fast water creature you admired earlier, and came out of the water. you nudged loâak while grinning, who then shoved his brother a bit by accident, making neteyam lose balance shortly. and you had to admit to yourself - again - that her dismount from the creature was flawless, it looked like she had practiced it like a thousand times just for this moment.
âwhat the hell, y/n?â loâak muttered before shoving you back and staring at the girl again who now stepped closer to the little crowd that had formed around the seven of you.
neytiri noticed the two of them staring, although neteyam was way more nonchalant about it than loâak was, and gave them a gaze that was apparently so intimidating they immediately stopped.
âitâs too small, how are they supposed to swim?â the shorter teal boy said and laughed, but his smile didnât last very long as the girl loâak had stared at like heâd never seen one before stepped in front of them. âdo not! rotxo! aoânung!â she scolded, before turning back to loâak who had started staring again, which made you sigh in disappointment.
âheyâŚâ he said timidly, like he had never spoken to a person, let alone a girl before. you really had to keep yourself composed not to burst out in laughter, but you knew better than to laugh at your bother when he was in the middle of courting the girl.
your eyes shot into the sky as you heard something soaring above your heads. you could see it was a sea creature too, but not the same one loâaks holiday flirt rode when she arrived. as the creature settled in the water, a mighty warrior with many tattoos over his face and chest, which were partially covered by a necklace with something you assumed to be a tooth of some kind of sea predator, dismounted his creature and stepped closer to us.
âoloâeyktan, i see you.â the warrior said to jake as they both greeted each other with the accompanying hand gesture.
âoloâeyktan tonowari.â neytiri greeted the warrior named tonowari, who apparently was the oloâeyktan of that clan, with the same gesture.
the crowd in front of you suddenly parted for someone or something again, you just couldnât see who or what they were parting for, until a woman with a beautiful shell on her forehead stepped forward. she eyed you all up suspiciously, like you were intruders, unwelcome on her turf.
âi see you, ronal, tsahĂŹk of the metkayinaâ jake said to the tsahĂŹk, who you just now noticed was slightly pregnant.
neytiri greeted her next. âi see you, ronal.â you followed suit and greeted her too. âi see you, ronal.â
she turned to you and eyed you up suspiciously, especially staring at your face, then looking at jake and then back to you, determining you probably werenât their biological child before turning back to jake and neytiri.
jake spread his arms wide like an ikran ready for take off. âwe seek uturu!â
ronal looked so shocked, if you didnât listen to the conversation, you probably wouldâve thought he just insulted her. âuturu?â she responds, like sheâd never heard that word before. she looked at tonowari while jake continued.
âa sanctuary for my family.â jake added with a pleading expression on his face.
ronal now circled the seven of you, grabbing your arm. âtheir arms are thinâŚâ she observed while you snatched away your arm, caught off guard by her sudden action. you turned around to see what she was up to. your ears fold back as she grabs kiriâs tail. â...their tailsâŚâ
her speech was interrupted by kiri snatching her tail back. âow!â
ronal didnât care if she had hurt kiri and continued on her speech.â...are weakâŚâ she suddenly grabs kiriâs hands, which were holding her tail until ronal held them in the air to prove a certain point. â...these children⌠are not even true naâvi!â she exclaimed while lifting up kiriâs hands slightly so that the whole clan could see that kiri had one more finger than them, like a demon. a murmur went through the crowd as she walked over to loâak, and also grabbed his hand and yanked it in the air. âthey have demon blood!â
she had now almost gotten around to pointing out her dislikes about each one of your family, as jake stepped in and held his hand up. âlook. look! i was born as one of the sky people, but now i'm na'vi! some can adapt!â
you grew less interested in the fight between jake, neytiri and ronal, so you started exchanging looks with your brothers, well, at least you tried, neteyam ignored your gaze and loâak was lost in his thoughts - probably about the girl that still didnât have a name.
after a bit, you turned to their argument again as neytiri and ronal hissed at each other. before things could escalate any further, jake stepped in. âi apologize for my mate, sheâs-â
neytiri tries to cut jake off, âdo not apologize for me!â but he simply kept talking. â...flown a long way and is exhausted.â
âjake!â she protested, but jake shot her a look that told her to step back and she did so. âuturu has been askedâŚâ she muttered.
ronal looked up at tonowari, subtly shaking her head at him. he made a pleading face, which then led her to give him a still subtle, but now more noticeable nod.
tonowari turned to the seven of you again. âmy son aoânung and out daughter tsireya will show your children what to do.â
and the girl loâak been eyeing finally had a name⌠tsireya. and she was the sister of that skxawng who laughed at your tails earlier.
aoânung was obviously not happy with his fathers decision and tried to protest, but was immediately shut down by him.
as you brought your stuff to your new home, which the metkayina clan called marui, you stared in awe as you take in the beauty of the place. their homes were attached to mangrove tree roots and held up with tension created between them. you laid the stuff you carried down and took in the beauty of your new home, as you heard a thumping sound, which made you flinch and turn around. neytiri had dropped her carpet, but you couldnât tell why. was it in awe? in exhaustion? in sadness?
you feel a little hand pulling at your arm. âcome into the water with us y/n!â tuk asked, giving you her puppy dog eyes, which when she did, you couldnât deny her anything.
you at first thought you were walking to the beach, but as tuk grabbed you hands tightly and tugeds you to the end of the walkway, jumping into the water as she lets go of your hand. you hesitated at first, but quickly decided to follow her.
the sea was beautiful. everywhere were little fish and other sea creatures who swam curiously around you. tuk gestured you to come swim with her, and you did so. the sea was so vibrant, there were just too many impressions and you couldnât decide what to stare at first. soon after, the both of you needed to go up for air.
âeverything alright tuk?â you asked her, concern etched onto your face
âi just needed air, my breath is really short.â she said, as just a few meters away, neteyam and loâak resurfaced from the water to catch some air. the only one you didn't see was kiri, which made you feel uneasy.
âhave you seen kiri?â you shout over to your brothers.
âno, we havenât!â loâak shouted back, looking concerned. neteyam also looked concerned, but he didnât look or respond to you.
âstay up tuk!â you instructed her as you took a deep breath and dove back down under the water. you once again took in the beauty of the ocean, although you werenât able to really appreciate it fully since you were still frantically searching for kiri. you looked behind big corals and stones as long as your breath lasted, until you had to resurface for air.
âwhere is she?â neteyam asked, which made your heart jump a bit, as you hadnât spoken since you sat down in front of the family hut back in high camp, and the both of you didnât leave that conversation feeling better about yourselves. well, at least you didnât.
not wanting to fuel your fight with neteyam even more, you decided not to give a sarcastic answer. âi donât know, i haven't seen her yet!â you prepared to go back underwater, but your brothers didnât follow suit, still looking concerned. âyour skxawng asses are BOTH coming with!â
your brothers took a deep breath and went under as well, although doing so not looking amused. the three of you split up as you searched for your sister. out of the corner of your eye, you could see a familiar blue on the sea ground, but as you turned around you saw it wasnât kiri, but just a weird sea plant.
you felt the need to go up for air while getting a more aerial view of the sea, and as you did so, you saw kiri, happily swimming around and snuggling, of some sorts, with a sea creature you assumed was about 7-9 meters long.
you took a quick breath as you dove down to her. you tried signaling to her that she should go up for air but she shook her head and signaled you that she was okay, shown by a simple thumbs up.
you rolled your eyes as you swam back up, where your brothers were waiting for you already. âwhere is she?â loâak said. âwe canât find her, did you?â neteyam asked.
âshe apparently doesnât need to breathe underwaterâ you said jokingly, not knowing how true it actually was.
your brothers looked at you confusedly, then swimming off again. you turned around to tuk, who stayed put in the water. âwhat do you mean she doesnât need to breathe?â she asked you.
you smile at her, âthat wasnât meant to be taken seriously, i just joked about it. i needed to go up like 4 times for air while she didnât need to go once.â you paused. âiâm heading back to our ma⌠mairu? marui, yes, marui. you coming?â you asked her, reaching out of her hand.
âiâll stay for a bit y/n.â she responded.
âalright, see you later tuk! and stay safe, don't swim out too far and all that, if something happens to you, neytiri will kill me.â you said jokingly, before swimming back to shore.
over the next few days, you started to learn the metkayina ways, like how to breathe properly before going into the water or riding an ilu. but you werenât the only ones to learn something, because you, neteyam and loâak taught that skxawng aoânung and his friends to not mess with your family.
kiri laid in the water, zoning out while looking at the beautiful sand. unbeknownst to her, aoânung and his friends surrounded her, staring at her like theyâd never seen her before and she just decided to appear out of nowhere.
aoânung and his friends were talking and mumbling outside the water when her head emerged from the water, with a friendly expression on her face. âhuh? whatâd you say?â
âare you some kind of⌠freak?â aoânung asked her, surrounded by his friends, towering over kiri cockily.
kiri was taken aback by their question. âhe asked if youâre a freak!â rotxo followed up.
all of this happened in your reach of hearing, which is why you put your guitar down and stood up and watched, ready to step in. as aoânung grabbed kiris hands and said she wasnât a real naâvi, loâak rushed towards the group, âhey! back off, fishlips!â he exclaimed, prompting you to follow him.
âooh, another four fingered freak!â aoânung laughed.
âdonât touch me!â loâak commanded, but they didnât listen, obviously.
âleave us alone!â kiri pleaded, as you joined the group while they taunted loâak, calling his tail a âbabytailâ.
âback off, skxawng!â you said, as you shoved aoânung away from loâak. you felt a rush of air, as netyam passed you, shoving aoânung a second time.
âyou heard what she said. back the fuck off.â neteyam said, inches away from aoânung at this point.
another metkayina, who stood beside aoânung spoke up, âaah, big brother comi-â before being cut off by aoânung.
âback off.â neteyam said to aoânung, who didnât seem to give a fuck about what he said. ânow.â he added, adding graveness to his voice.
aoânung apparently seemed to finally get his message, raising his hands and backing off.
âsmart choice. and from now on, you respect my sister.â neteyam said. the boy who got cut off by aoânung earlier exchanged hisses with kiri. âletâs go.â
âbye bye!â the teal boys mocked, smug smiles on their faces.
as you walked away, you could basically feel loâakâs desire to just absolutely uppercut the heck out of that vonväâ aoânung. âdonât loâak. it will just cause more trouble, and remember, jake asked us to do one thing, and that was to behave.â you mutter to him.
as loâak stops in his tracks, you grab his arm, making the metkayina boys whistle behind your back, âshe thinks we cant take on her freak-ass brother, does she?â
âiâm saving your ass, so shut up.â you said, tightening your grip on loâaks wrist. nonetheless, he yanked it right out of your grip and walked over to them. in a last ditch effort, you mutter âdonât loâak!â to him, but he doesnât listen. why should he, he is loâak after all.
âi know this hand is funny, look, iâm a freak, alien. but it can do something really cool, watchâŚâ he said, as he balled his hand into a fist, âfirst up ball it up real tight, like this⌠âkay? then-â
âshit!â you exclaimed as loâak hit aonung so hard in the jaw, his head snapped to the right side with a force that couldâve broken his damn neck. he fell down on the ground, looking shocked at what loâak had just done.
âitâs called a punch, bitch!â
âwhat was the one thing i asked, one thing?â jake asked the three of you, neteyam and loâak.
âstay out of troubleâŚâ one of your brothers said. you didnât recognize who it was, you were too busy looking at the ground, ashamed of disobeying the only thing jake asked of you.
âstay out of trouble, right!â he repeated.
âit was my fault-â neteyam begun, wanting to take the blame for loâaks actions, but jake wasnât having any of it.
âyeah, i don't think so, you gotta stop taking the heat for this knucklehead!â jake interrupted him, clearly not buying the act.
you lifted your head up âjake, aoânung and his skxa-... his friends were picking on kiriâŚâ
â...called her a freak.â loâak added.
jake took a deep breath as he eyed the three of you up and down, seeing your injuries. neteyam and loâak were bleeding at the nose and lip, and had bruises all over their bodies. apparently aoânung had taught his friends morals, since you were the one with the least amount of injuries, almost every bruise you had came from them wildly fighting and being unaware of their surroundings. sometimes, they did hit you on purpose, but that was the meaning of a fight, right?
âgo apologize to aoânung.â jake commanded loâak, your eyes widened at his request, even tho it wasn't directed at you. âheâs the chiefs son, dâya understand? i donât care how you do it, just go make peace. just go!â and with that, loâak left.
jake now spoke to you, ây/n, why didnât you hold loâak back? or neteyam at least? you couldnât even hold back yourself! i really thought better of you, as my eldest child.â
âi tried holding him back, i held his wrist and told him not to but he just yanked out of my grip and i was basically powerless! now donât blame me for not trying.â you responded.
jake raised an eyebrow, âand what about neteyam? and why did you join in?â he asked.
you tried to not turn red just now as he mentioned neteyam, âat that point it was already too late jake. and i tried to break it up but just got caught in the fight.â you looked down again to hide your reddening face.
jake again eyed you up, taking in every injury. âat least they have some manners, they didnât go so hard on you as they did on your brothers.â he then turned to the neteyam. âso whatâd the other guys look like?â he asked.
âworseâ neteyam replied, while looking up from the ground slightly to meet his fathers gaze.
âthats good.â jake replied, which you were a bit confused about but also understood somewhat.
âa lot worseâ neteyam added as he looked up at his father, a tiny, almost unnoticeable smile forming on his face. he was pushing his luck at this point, which made jake send him out. âget outta here.â
jake turned back to you. âim disappointed, y/n. i really though you were wiser than to join in after failing to stop them from punching the oloâeyktanâs son.â
âiâm sorry.â you replied, gaze still left on the ground.
âlook at me. look me in the eyes y/n.â jake commanded, and you did so. âthey were in the wrong, yes, they shouldnât have called kiri a freak, but that does not justify punching them. if they do that again, tell your brothers to back the fuck off and get me. understand?â
âunderstood.â
âget out.â
you exited the marui and saw neteyam, lost in thought, sitting at the edge of the tension-held pathways. you sat beside him, searching for an opportunity to clear the room about the last few weeksâ events. just as you sat down, he stood up again and was going to leave. you were having none of that ârunning away from your problems like a childâ shit and grabbed his wrist.
âneteyam! why the fuck are you ignoring me?â you ask, mostly anger but also hurt paints your words. âyou canât keep running from your problems neteyam! talk to me, i want to help you!â
neteyam sat back down again.ây/n, i really like you, alright? but i just moved to this unknown village with lots of skxawngs that i donât like and will probably never do, and then i got this-â he lowered his voice so only you could hear him, ârelationship with you, which is anything but traditional. iâm scared weâll get outcast, now more than ever! so i donât want to be the boy who doesnât try to court any metkayina girls and hangs out a ton with you, because then they will make up rumors, and-â
âneteyam, i get it. but that doesnât mean you can just ignore me without saying anything, alright? i understand what your reason is, but if we do this we have to do it together. you are a strong and tstew tsamsiyu, yes, but you donât have to carry the weight of the whole world on your shoulders... let me help you carry it.â
neteyam looks you in the eyes, the first time, apart from what happened at sea a week or so earlier when you were trying to find kiri, since you all arrived in awaâatlu. âyou would?â he asks, not believing you mean this offer seriously.
âyes, i would. for you⌠oe tiyawn nga.â
ây/n?â tuk had been nervously tossing, stirring and turning on her woven mat all night which made it almost impossible for you to get any sleep. but you werenât mad at her, she was still a kid and moving to a new place, just like that can be very demanding, especially of a child.
âhm? what is it?â you whispered back to her as she sat up.
âi canât sleep. can you sing me something? pleeeeeease?â and there her puppy-eyes were again, gazing at you through the darkness of your marui. âand can you play guitar for me?â
you acted like you needed to think about it, although you had already made up your mind, you would be singing for her, tonight. âhmm⌠okay, ill do it. but we need to go outside, otherwise weâll wake everyone else up, alright?â
tuk nodded with a big smile on her face, which made you smile in response, because you knew you caused her to smile. you grabbed your guitar and quietly went outside with tuk. âare you cold tuk?â you asked her, wanting her to feel as comfortable as possible.
she shook her head determinedly, leading you to a somewhat remote part of the village where you could sit in the sand, play guitar and sing for her without anybody hearing you.
you sat down and patted the spot next to you where she laid down and rested her head against your thighs. âwhat do you want me to sing?â you asked tuk.
she thought for a few seconds until she decided to ask me for the song âkissâ. âi want to hear âkissâ. you played it so beautifully the first time, i want to hear it again.â
you actually needed to think for a second, because you had only played it once or twice, but when you remembered, your eyes lit up with passion. the song reminded you of your love for neteyam, and you sung that song for him, although he didnât know. it made you think of all the things you had done together, now, the moments where he stared into your eyes, where he showed you how to use a bow and-
ây/n?â you snapped out of your trance when tuk started tugging at your top to get your attention back and to FINALLY start playing guitar for her. ây/nnnnnn?â
âoh, sorry tuk, i⌠got lost in my thoughts.â you smile at her apologetically while she relaxes her head back onto your thigh and you start playing the song.
the song was so unapologetically beautiful and emotional, while at the same time not making you want to cry, but you could if you wanted to. and the song was repetitive, but in a way that could make the person the song is addressed to never forget what they had just heard, what just had been said to them. it makes the person the song is about the overarching topic that lays perfectly in between every single paragraph, in between every single word, in between every single syllable, in between every single letter.
as you finally finished up the song, you saw tukâs chest rising and falling slowly, she was definitely asleep. you gently removed tuk from your thigh and picked her up with one hand, while carrying the guitar in the other.
you laid her down on her woven mat in the marui, tucking her in with a blanket. you then sat down your guitar and laid down yourself, quickly drifting off to sleep.
âno jake, i wonât stop doing the things i love, just because you think itâs âsky people stuffâ!â you exclaimed. jake and neytiri were scolding you after tuk blabbered out you sung her to sleep last night with your guitar.
ây/n, we spoke about this before, and we said no more playing around the hut, and it still applies for the marui!â jake defended himself. he didnât want you playing guitar and adapting to âsky people stuffâ.
you laughed in disbelief as you heard him said that. âjake, if i hadnât done that last night, tuk wouldâve gotten almost, if not even no sleep at all! why are you angry at me for helping her sleep?â you couldnât believe jakeâs hypocrisy. he used sky people weapons all the time to kill people, but if you played guitar, its like the end of the world for him. you didnât speak about it tho, because the last time you did, he explained to you for an hour or two - you donât even remember - why he should be using the sky people weapons.
âyouâre disobeying eywaâs third law actively y/n!â jake said, his anger growing bigger with every word he said.
âbut you arenât when youâre using sky peopleâs guns?â shit, you didnât want to say that, and you shouldnât have. you only realized you had stood up from the ground a few seconds after saying that.
âsit back down y/n!â neytiri hissed at you.
your ears folded back because you were ashamed of yourself for saying that, and because neytiri hissed at you. she rarely did that, but if she did, it was a sign to you to SHUT UP. and thatâs exactly what you did, you sat back down without saying anything, looking down on the ground, ears still folded back.
âhow often do we have to tell you to stop playing that damn guitar? it is-â jake said, before he was interrupted by someone.
âwhy do you let her keep it then? itâs like giving an alcoholic a cabinet full of alcohol!â neteyam said.
the three of you looked up at him, surprised to see him here, defending you. âneteyam, donât.â you look up, now pleadingly staring at him. âthis is none of your business.â
neteyam was about to say something when jake stood up, now towering in front of him, blocking your view of him. âget out.â jake said. youâve never seen him this angry before, and you realized itâs all because you played that stupid guitar. jake and neytiri were mad at you because of it, jake was now angry at neteyam as well because of it, and who knows what would be after this discussion, because of it.
âyou know we dont like when you play that thing, and we want⌠you NEED to stop, you ARE stopping, y/n. even one sound comes out this, and we will burn it at the next campfire.â jake said after he turned back around to you.
your ears perked up as you heard what he had just said, and thats when youâve had enough. you stood up as your eyes became watery at the thought of the only thing that could keep you sane if youâd be alone being destroyed. âyou wouldnât jake⌠you wouldnât dare to.â
âfuck yes i would.â he said, not an ounce of emotion being shown from his expression.
âi need to speak to your father alone y/n. you can leave.â neytiri said. jake looked at her in disbelief, like she just insulted him in the worst way possible. she was still angry, but her anger was now more directed to jake as you exited the marui, beginning to cry.
that neytiri had just called jake âyour fatherâ didnât bother you in the slightest, but it wouldâve if you werenât too busy with wiping tears from your eyes. you picked up a bit of their conversation before being out of reach. âjake, the kid obviously loves this thing! youâre not her drill sergeant! why would you forbid her to-â
a strong hand touched your shoulder, you flinched at the unexpected physical contact. you turned around to see neteyam standing in front of you. âiâm sorry y/n, i didn't mean to embarrass you or anything, i was just⌠i wanted to help you.â
âthank you neteyam.â you said as you hugged him and all your tears and pent up anger let loose. âi never thought you would stand up for me, especially against your parents. thank you.â
âyes, i would. for you⌠oe tiyawn nga.â
âi donât understand why you donât really miss spider, i mean you two were like yin and yang, you were the missing puzzle piece to each other, you know?â you said to kiri while you were weaving something and she was laying on her woven mat.
âat first i did miss him y/n, but over the last few weeks i just⌠i donât know. i guess i just lost touch with him after we left.â kiri said while staring at the ceiling of the marui. she fidgeted with her hands, which she often did in nervous situations.
you noticed her fidgeting with her hands and were curious why she was doing it. âkiri? is everything alright? youâre fidgeting againâ
her eyes immediately widened at your request, she sat up and looked you in the eyes. âno⌠no itâs not.â she said. it was obvious she was near tears. it felt like she had something weighing on her consciousness she needed to get rid off.
âis it because of spider?â you asked, you couldnât explain it to yourself otherwise than that she was really missing him after all.
âno y/nâŚâ she said, a tear running down her face. you reached out to wipe it from her face, but she turned her face away. you dropped your hand back to your body as she continued. âitâs because of you y/nâŚâ
the feeling of support you wanted to give to kiri almost immediately vanished and turned into sorrow and a feeling of unease entered your stomach as it turned. âm- me? what did i do?â
you asked, but she didn't answer. âkiri, talk to me, what did i do?â
kiri looked down at her hands, âyou didnât do anything, but⌠i kept something from you i need to tell you.â
âyou know im always there for you kiri, and you can always talk to me about anything.â you replied to her, hoping she would finally tell you what was going on.
ây/n, iâŚâ
âi have feelings for you.â

Seaside
Prompt 1
Dean never thought heâd find peace. The hunter was accustomed to the roar of engines and the hiss of danger, not the gentle lull of waves. Yet, here he was, standing on a deserted stretch of beach, the wind ruffling his flannel shirt, as he watched the horizon turn from gold to a deep, calming blue.
Beside him, Castiel stood quietly, his ever-present trench coat fluttering in the breeze. The angelâs blue eyes reflected the vastness of the ocean, capturing the same power and beauty Dean had come to cherish. They had fought countless battles together, faced down monsters, and saved the world more times than he cared to count. But this moment felt different. It felt like a victory all on its own. The sun dipped lower, casting a warm glow over the sand. Dean glanced at Castiel, his heart swelling with feelings that had grown quietly, like the tide creeping up the shore. He thought of the countless times Cas had saved him, not just from physical dangers, but from the darkness within himself. The angel has been his anchor, his constant, in a life filled with chaos.
âDean,â Castielâs voice was soft, barely louder than the lapping of the waves. âWhy did you bring me here?â
Dean shrugged, a small smile playing at his lips. âThought it was time we had a break. Besides,â he added, turning to face Cas fully, âyou deserve to see something beautiful.â
Castielâs gaze softened, a hint of confusion mingling with the affection in his eyes. âI have seen beauty, Dean. I see it every time I look at you.â
Dean felt a blush creep up his neck, and he ducked his head, scuffing his boot in the sand. âShut up, Cas,â Dean responded, although it was hard for him to disguise his pleasure.
They stood in comfortable silence, the sound of the ocean filling the space between them. Dean reached out, hesitantly at first, and took Castielâs hand in his. The touch was grounding, electric.
âIs this ok?â Dean asked, his voice rough with the rush of emotion.
Castielâs eyes searched Deanâs face, before dropping his gaze to their hands. Castiel was silent for a long time before looking back up at Dean, his face flushed, his eyes shining. âDean...?â Castiel responded, incredulity, hope, and love clear in his eyes.
Dean took a deep breath, the words tumbling out before he could second-guess himself. âI love you, Cas. Iâve loved you for a long time.â
For a moment, Castiel said nothing, his expression unchanged. Then, a slow, radiant smile spread across his face. âI love you too, Dean. More than you know.â
Dean felt a weight lift off his shoulders, a sense of completeness he hadnât realized he was missing. He pulled Castiel into a gentle embrace, their foreheads touching. Dean felt an unfamiliar sense of calm settle over him. The ocean's rhythmic murmur seemed to echo the newfound peace in his heart. The world around them seemed to fade away, leaving just the two of them standing on the beach, enveloped in the soft, dimming light.
Dean looked out at the ocean, the waves gently lapping at the shore. "You know, I used to think I'd never find a place where I could just... be. Where I could stop running from everything."
Castiel tilted his head, a small smile playing on his lips. "And now?"
Dean turned back to him, the corners of his mouth lifting in a shy smile. "Now, I think I've found it, with you."
Castiel's expression softened, his eyes reflecting all the mystery and allure of the boundless sea. "You are my home, Dean," he said quietly, his voice carrying the weight of eternity. "No matter where we go, as long as we're together, I will always have peace."
The words hung in the air, mingling with the sound of the waves and the faint call of distant seabirds. Dean nodded, feeling the truth of them resonate. He leaned in, resting his head against Castiel's shoulder, savoring the quiet intimacy of the moment.
Bathed in the tranquil glow of the moon and stars, the two men stood, side by side on that long stretch of sand, while the waves continued their gentle dance.
And in that moment, everything felt right. Complete. It felt like the end of one journey and the start of another â a new chapter in their lives, with the sweetest of beginnings... written right there, together, by the edge of the sea.Â

â  have you noticed anything different about me lately? â ⸝ @13nth
the salt in the humid air clings to his skin , but he welcomes it . this nostalgia is a whirlwind of mixed feelings , of complications , but here , with all of these cherished people on this journey together , he finds peace . this is the area of the islands he always called home ; away from his parents , away from societal and academic pressure , away from pain . this is where he spent his days with sora and kairi , tidus , wakka , and selphie . the fondest memories he can recall . he laughs at himself , quietly , softly , at how miserable he thought he was at the time . but he'd never take it back . the things he's learned , the people he's met , how his heart has grown . he wouldn't take it back for anything .
and now , sora is gone , but he trusts in his heart in him , and himself . and roxas seated beside him offers him some strange sort of comfort that he can't quite place , but he doesn't question it . he sits with him in the tranquility of the air , as if their bitter past has been buried and they are living life anew . his hands are folded lazily over his knees as he stares out into the waves that crash upon the shore ; he used to count them when he was younger , waiting for sora or kairi to show . things are so different now . . . and , while sometimes painful , he loves the differences too .
' have you noticed anything different about me lately ? '
yeah . of course . he'd never thought roxas , who once carved regret into his heart with actions he never wanted to commit , actions he'd shielded himself from , sight , heart , light , would find himself at his side , at his home , asking vulnerable questions in the wake of seaside tranquility . the answer seems so obvious that riku almost wants to laugh . but he doesn't . he folds his fingers in and out from one another , eyes kept to the blue of oceanic eternity .
â yeah . i guess you could say that . â he answers earnestly , still avoiding the true depth of the question , though not with ill - intentions . if roxas would like to continue the conversation , he would wait until he is urged forward . their history is rocky , after all . he's not sure what trust exists between them , despite having had let go some time ago . there are no ill feelings . just a bit of awkward tension .
he never had to forgive him , he only had to forgive himself .

ok before i go to bed. preview of something iâm working on. yes another wip im sorry
Untitled (In the Midden)
The Midden, that sullen place, lurked beneath the College like a bad omen over a blight. Even the sea quieted itself down here, and in his eternal imprisonment, the Augur listened to every small noise. The scratching of a skeever against a wall. The occasional skeleton, an accidental reanimation by a new apprentice, quickly stomped out and returned to the dirt. Here, among the mold, the rats, the spiders that scuttled and crawled along the caverns, the Augur remained.
Very few would admit to his existence. It was an accursed thing, to be the Augur of Dunlain. He was an accursed thing. So he - if he was himself anymore, he wondered - remained here in the swallowing dark. He would extend a burst of energy outwards, to peer into the lessons in the Hall of the Elements. Fresh-faced Apprentices, weathered scholars, wizened instructors. He would watch in silence, the blue haze of the magicka points of the College only allowing him a limited view. He could not extend his energy for long, and this skill had been built over many years of tenuous practice, but he extended outwards anyways.
His attention was drawn far from his peering in the Hall of the Elements with the familiar noise of the door to the Midden parting, that ancient creak that echoed deep into the dark. The door shut, and soon, footsteps found their easy-going way. And humming. He knew the humming. The Augur would have given a smile if he had a mouth to use. He listened as the mage cast Calm on anything that dared approach him, his footing sure, his voice easy and warm, his motions quick as he walked through the caverns like he were on a stroll by a summer seaside.
Finally, the door swung open to the Augur of Dunlain's chamber, his light beaming down upon the wizened face of the man before him.

I've spent a lifetime loving you, Celia. I can have anyone I want. Then why are you the only one on my mind all the time? I've created something where they all beg to be with me, but I beg to be with you. Money, fame, glory I have it all. But it's you that I want. Every time I sit on the table eating something expensive yet again, I'm on the road having a milkshake - one hand on the wheel, one in yours, kissing it. Your hair flies like a gentle flame against my mane.
You are beautiful.
Every time the camera flashes hurting my eyes, and my fingers digging tighter into the Oscar I just won - I'm with you, on the red carpet. My deep green gown, your midnight blue one, dancing together in the night breeze. The branches quietly embracing the evening sky. They're cheering for us, and we wave like we are the goddamn queens of England. This is the moment when all this success truly matters for me; one hand holding the Oscar, one arm linked with yours. We are smiling and winning, giving them the show of their lives. This they cherish forever, including me.
Every time I'm reading the script of a film, I'm reading a plot where they cast us together. Not as women competing for a man. Not as sisters. Women as lovers. A tear escapes my eyes, it's not what my 'too gorgeous to be sad' persona is used to. I don't care, I cry anyway. I'm in my van, I see you beside me in the mirror; you hold me and I feel better than The Evelyn Hugo. They're not ready for that kind of story yet, are they? There will come a time, though, when they will be. I wish to be incarnated again, be an actress all over again, in love with you and playing the role of your wife in a movie too. The director comes and he tries to touch me, whispering "I know how much the script moved you, darling. That's why I wanted Evelyn Hugo to play this. I'm there for you." I had started crying more, my makeup running astray. Your voice echoes this time "break a leg, my love". And that's when I know I'm going to absolutely nail this movie yet again. I smile.
One bold gaze in the spotlight, one soft glance towards you in the audience clapping for me.
The film starts rolling and you're my heroine.
Every time I'm in a lavish hotel room, going into the shower sighing, washing off the pain - I'm in our seaside home with you. Slow dancing on the terrace, laughing till we are out of breath because we don't know how to dance - falling on each other, falling for each other. "Whose idea was this?" I ask, in between giggles. "Yours, Miss Genius Big Tits. You wanted to recreate your favourite movie's ball dance sequence."
You move like water anyway and I glide like the wind settling on your shore. I've wanted nothing more. They're going crazy searching for me everywhere and here I am, lost in you.
I'd rather never be found.
My head calculating my next moves, my heart beating to be with you. You nudge me from my thoughts, massaging my shoulders. "Long day, honey?"
I want to cry again. The simplicity of it yet the longing. It's been a long day, indeed. Long life, even - until you came along. I nod. "Very long."
But you hug me and suddenly I can run miles. I can run the whole way, it's worth it when you're standing at the finish line. When we finish it together.
Every time I'm lying on a giant sofa, I'm with you on our bed, marrying each other with only the moon as the guest, I'm quite content. My wife I finally wed. This could be our happy end. Throughout the globe I had ever flown but our home is happier than anything I've ever known. Then you sob,
"I can't give you a baby, I can't give you a family. Can you ever forgive me? A bittersweet romance of yours is all I've been." Dear God, Celia. How do I say this? In giving me a piece of yourself, you've already given me all I need: a reason to be, a season of eternity.
Stop saying those false words, you're everything to me. Even an eternity is an unfairly less amount of time with you. How do I say this? I'm an actress, but I've never been one with you. I kiss you to shut up when you protest. And you go quiet, when you look at me - my eyes speak more than words can give justice to. You get your answer, too. Now, sleeping peacefully on your chest, I'm home. The chaos outside is as good as non existent. Women curse me for making the men go wild but all I want is you by my side. The highest men, the most handsome of them are dying for me. I have had feelings for them before too, I admit. But when I see you, it's like they never even existed. Feelings are just feelings; they keep coming and leaving. You're my whole being, the epiphany where everything has a meaning. A broken sun's healing, a new universe beaming. My life spent dreaming, the dream now breathing. I've been the biggest star, lived it all, had fun till dawn. But the greatest peace has been to be a small girl in your arms, sleeping in the hall, not afraid anymore.
Please never forget that sun rises and sets with your smile, at least to me it does.
You're the only thing on this planet worth worshipping.
p.s: the only person I'd happily chip all my teeth for~
All the love,
Evelyn

The Victorious Pearl of Panem: A âThe Hunger Gamesâ Fanfiction
đđ đđ đđ đđ đđ đđ đ
Part One: The Reaping
-/-
I awoke, as usual to the sound of the gulls screaming from somewhere along the vast shore outside my window.
..Stupid birdsâŚ
I sigh. The light peaking in from the curtains says itâs still early.
But not early enough.
The smell of breakfast lures me to finally pull a blue robe around myself and slip into my slippers. By the time I reach the kitchen downstairs, Mother is pulling cinnamon buns out of the wood stove.
âMa you shouldnât haveâŚâ I mutter sheepishly.
I know she had to have made these herself from scratch. District Four has some nicer shops up in the northern city, with much more capital perfect pastries, but we definitely couldnât afford them on a day like today.
âIâve set your outfit on the bathroom counter, give the water heater a while to heat the water and you should be good to go.â She says, smiling. The smile does not reach her eyes.
I wolf down three cinnamon buns and some fresh Apple juice and try to keep from fidgeting out of my seat.
Itâs half past ten, the reaping is at One.
I finish my meal, not bothering to clean my dishes and numbly shower.
My reaping clothes are a simple yet pretty seafoam green dress with once white flats, a little tan from being bought secondhand. I dress silently.
I tie my still damp red hair into a rubber band, and tie a small white ribbon into my hair with a hand embroidered anchor on the tail.
I spent hours sewing that anchor onto this ribbon. If I go into the Games today, I want a piece of home with me.
âIt wonât be me,â A small voice inside me whispers. A louder voice argues that the odds are stacking against me. Iâm Seventeen this year. My name will have entered the bowl more than six times.
I thank the Starfish that I never took out any Tesera in the years mom and I were struggling. We luckily could just barely afford to not have to get it, between the both of us working. And then Mom got that promotion and we were living pretty decently. Full time Power and Water, a fridge full of discount, but still mostly fresh food. We did alright for two women on our own.
I finished dressing, meeting my mom in the Doorway.
âYou look absolutely beautiful, Pearl Marinoâ My Mother kissed me feverishly across the forehead.
We trudged outside, the beautiful sight of our seaside town, and the beautiful day seemed to be mocking me.
âWeâll meet at the Town Square.â
She seemed nervous as we walked our bikes down the stone boardwalk. A few others rode by periodically, also on bikes.
âIâll meet you there, Ma. I promise, weâll be fine. If I get pickedâŚâ
She shushed me, waving away a tear.
âIâll see you there, honey. Be careful.â
I nodded, and got on my bike without another word, petaling as fast as my feet would take me in a dress.
In no time it seemed, I reached the Old Lighthouse that served as District Fourâs designated City Hall and Reaping place.
The Peacekeepers are sat at their usual makeshift stations, lines of kids getting scanned in while their Parents stand helplessly behind the Thick Braided rope that stretched in a huge oval around the reaping stage.
I filed into line, gritting my teeth as my finger was pricked. I trickled into the massive pen of other youths, suckling the blood from my finger. The taste of the salt comforted me.
What seemed like a fraction of a second stretched out into Eternity, a colorful bunch of Capital people took their places on the stage.
The Woman, who had her hair dyed a rainbow of different colors, wore an oil spill colored suit that glimmered as she walked. She was slender, and tallâŚ. A little too tall. She had to be at least Six Feet. This was Venus Aribosan, the District Four Capital Sponsor.
âWelcome, District Four, to this yearâs reaping, for the 80th Annual Hunger Games!â She said in a low, yet boisterous tone. âFirst off, a message brought to you from our Prestigious Capital!â
A set of Screens showed the annual Capital Propaganda. It made my head ache just listening to it.
The film ended, and Venus took her stance above the bowls containing the names of the children of District Four. She gave a small speech about the Brave Tributes she was about to choose.
âAs is Customary, Ladies First.â
She plunged her hand into the bowl, plucking a name out.
âPearl Marino.â She declared.
I stood frozen for a long second, only moving when people turned to look in my direction. I smoothed my dress out, wiping my sweaty palms.
I plastered a smile on my face, and marched onto the stage, where Venus met me by putting a strong arm around my shoulders. I was thankful.
âIsnât she lovely, folks? Congratulations, dear. Now for the male tribute.â
She plucked a name from the opposite bowl.
âMinn Flounders.â She cheered.
A small boy, looking around thirteen, with blonde hair was ushered onto the stage, tears dripping down his face.
âShake hands, you two! Go on.â
I took the boyâs trembling hands, trying my best to smile at the Camera.
âThere we have it folks, your District Four Tributes for this yearâs Hunger Games!â
The crowd clapped awkwardly.
We were rushed away, put into the Lighthouse in white, waiting room style rooms to say goodbye to our families.
My mom just sobs in my arms. I promise her Iâll try to win for her. For Us.
And then I am put onto a train to The Capital.

Sea quotes and aphorisms
Sea quotes and aphorisms Sea quotes and aphorisms, ideas, thoughts, short reflections and meditations about the sea, the ocean and the metaphors about the sea, life, travel and troubles. The ocean moans over dead men's bones. Thomas B. Aldrich A body of water occupying about two-thirds of a world made for man, who has no gills. Ambrose Bierce Roll on, deep and dark blue ocean, roll. Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain. Man marks the earth with ruin, but his control stops with the shore. Lord Byron Sea waves sound reminds me of the beating of my mother's heart filtered by the amniotic fluid in her placenta. It is an association that, however, cannot calm my anguish for her passing. Carl William Brown Praise the sea; on shore remain. John Florio He that will learn to pray, let him go to sea. George Herbert Where there is a sea there are pirates. Greek Proverb Merchant and pirate were for a long period one and the same person. Even today mercantile morality is really nothing but a refinement of piratical morality. Friedrich Nietzsche If you can't change the wind, you must adjust your sails. Sea proverb The rougher the seas, the smoother we sail. Ahoy! If the ocean can calm itself, so can you. We are both salt water mixed with air. Nayyirah Waheed The Mediterranean has the color of mackerel, changeable I mean. You don't always know if it is green or violet, you can't even say it's blue, because the next moment the changing reflection has taken on a tint of rose or gray. Vincent Van Gogh The ocean, whose tides respond, like women's menses, to the pull of the moon, the ocean which corresponds to the amniotic fluid in which human life begins, the ocean on whose surface vessels (personified as female) can ride but in whose depth sailors meet their death and monsters conceal themselves... it is unstable and threatening as the earth is not; it spawns new life daily, yet swallows up lives; it is changeable like the moon, unregulated, yet indestructible and eternal. Adrienne Rich There is hope from the sea, but none from the grave. Irish Proverb Wide sea, that one continuous murmur breeds along the pebbled shore of memory! John Keats In high seas or in low seas, I'm gonna be your friend... I'm gonna be your friend. In high tide or in low tide, I'll be by your side... I'll be by your side. Bob Marley The ocean makes me feel really small and it makes me put my whole life into perspective. BeyoncĂŠ There's nothing wrong with enjoying looking at the surface of the ocean itself, except that when you finally see what goes on underwater, you realize that you've been missing the whole point of the ocean. Staying on the surface all the time is like going to the circus and staring at the outside of the tent. Dave Barry The heart of man is very much like the sea, it has its storms, it has its tides and in its depths it has its pearls too. Vincent van Gogh The ridiculous modern bourgeoisie is more interested in a seaside vacation, in the garden of their own house, or in the various optional extras to be mounted on their car than in the real fate of humanity. Carl William Brown When men come to like a sea-life, they are not fit to live on land. Samuel Johnson I must go down to the sea again, to the lonely sea and the sky; and all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by. John Masefield The sea complains upon a thousand shores. Alexander Smith The ocean is a mighty harmonist. William Wordsworth The only cure for seasickness is to sit on the shady side of a church in the country. Author Unknown Those who live by the sea can hardly form a single thought of which the sea would not be part. Hermann Broch The sea - this truth must be confessed - has no generosity. No display of manly qualities -- courage, hardihood, endurance, faithfulness - has ever been known to touch its irresponsible consciousness of power. Joseph Conrad The sea is mother-death and she is a mighty female, the one who wins, the one who sucks us all up. Anne Sexton The Mediterranean has the color of mackerel, changeable I mean. You don't always know if it is green or violet, you can't even say it's blue, because the next moment the changing reflection has taken on a tint of rose or gray. Vincent Van Gogh Theory is a great net that goes fishing in the sea of ??experience, what is fished, is fished. Especially today, where the waters are very polluted and fish are scarce. Carl William Brown The sea has never been friendly to man. At most it has been the accomplice of human restlessness. Joseph Conrad To me, the sea is like a person - like a child that I've known a long time. It sounds crazy, I know, but when I swim in the sea I talk to it. I never feel alone when I'm out there. Gertrude Ederle There is, one knows not what sweet mystery about this sea, whose gently awful stirrings seem to speak of some hidden soul beneath... Herman Melville I have seafoam in my veins, I understand the language of waves. Le Testament d'OrphĂŠe There are veins in the hills where jewels hide And gold lies buried deep; There are harbor-towns where the great ships ride And fame and fortune sleep; But land and sea though we tireless rove And follow each trail to the end Whatever the wealth of our treasure-trove The best we shall find is a friend. John J. Moment I must down to the seas again to the vagrant gypsy life To the gulls way and the whales way where the winds like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow rover And a quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long tricks o John Masefield The abode of God too is wherever is earth and sea and air and sky and virtue. Why further do we seek the Gods of heaven? Whatever thou dost behold and whatever thou dost touch that is Jupiter. Lucan They went to sea in a sieve they did; In a sieve they went to sea; In spite of all their friends could say. Edward Lear In fact the belief in the spherical earth had currency more than a century before Columbus famous voyage. For which cause men may well perceive that the land and the sea are of round shape and form for the portion of the firmament that shows itself in one country does not show itself in another country. And men may well prove by experience and subtle exercise of wit that if a man should find routes by ship that would go to search the world men might go by ship all about the world and around and beneath it.... Sir John Mandeville Man is so stupid that he despises the companions who sail with him in the stormy sea of ??troubles of his own existence, while he admires in amazement those who make him sink. Carl William Brown Touch the earth love the earth honour the earth her plains her valleys her hills and her seas; rest your spirit in her solitary places. Henry Beston Old England is our home and Englishmen are we; Our tongue is known in every clime our flag in every sea. Mary Howitt A perfect life is like that of a ship of war which has its own place in the fleet and can share in its strength and discipline but can also go forth alone in the solitude of the infinite sea. We ought to belong to society to have our place in it and yet be capable of a complete individual existence outside of it. Philip Gilbert Hamerton ... and so castles made of sand slip into the sea eventually. Jimi Hendrix Interest in global circumnavigation is older than Christianity itself. In fact if the following quotation is to be credited some attempts at circumnavigation predated the birth of Christ: As for the rest of the distance around the inhabited earth which has not been visited by us up to the present time (because of the fact that the navigators who sailed in opposite directions never met) it is not of very great extent if we reckon from the parallel distances that have been traversed by us... For those who undertook circumnavigation and turned back without having achieved their purpose say that they were made to turn back not because of any continent that stood in their way and hindered their further advance inasmuch as the sea still continued open as before but because of their destitution and loneliness. Strabo We must plant the sea and herd its animals. Using the sea as farmers instead of hunters. That is what civilization is all about farming replacing hunting. Jacques Yves Cousteau Of Law there can be no less acknowledged than that her seat is the bosom of God her voice the harmony of the world: all things in heaven and earth do her homage the very least as feeling her care and the greatest as not exempted from her power. Richard Hooker The surging sea of human life forever onward rolls And bears to the eternal shore its daily freight of souls; Tbough bravely sails our bark today pale Death sits at the prow And few shall know we ever lived a hundred years from Mary A. Ford The old wooden shed Stranded in a sea of wheat Waiting for harvest. Daniel Denault Bernard Loomers father was a sea captain. He was acquainted with his small place in an uncontrollable nature. In a talk in 1974 Loomer described his fathers instructions about the uses of a baseball glove. The father had just overheard his sons sandlot William Dean Over the glittering rattled ladders of shale the birds cross tangential to the sea at night. Hour upon hour you can sense the undulation of wings. If you lift your cheek quite carefully you can feel the kiss and the wisp of air stirred by the inaudible glide. Jan Haag L'ĂŠternitĂŠ. Cest la mer mĂŞlee Au soleil Arthur Rimbaud The time has come the Walrus said To talk of many things: Of shoesand shipsand sealing-wax Of cabbages and kings And why the sea is boiling hot And whether pigs have wings. Lewis Carroll Shermans buzzin along to de sea Like Moses ridin on a bumblebee. Stephen Vincent Benet I am once more seated under my own vine and fig tree ... and hope to spend the remainder of my days in peaceful retirement making political pursuits yield to the more rational amusement of cultivating the earth. George Washington If the sea And the sun Can bleach a bone Til its whiter Than a gull Cleaner than foam Oh how bright My soul Can emerge Purged On the beach Of Christs water And light. And How calm And warm His sand. Carol Lynn Pearson Literature feeds on itself, which is why sometimes some writers get indigestion and vomit a sea of ??nonsense. Carl William Brown To the pilot of a deep sea submersible upon finding out what would happen if the craft sprung a leak while submerged. Ill trust you to make sure that doesnt happen. Dan Rather How can we fret and stew sub specie aeternitatis - under the calm gaze of ancient Tao? The salt of the sea is in our blood; the calcium of the rocks is in our bones; the genes of ten thousand generations of stalwart progenitors are in our cells. The sun shines and we smile. The winds rage and we bend before them. The blossoms open and we rejoice. Earth is our long home. Stewart W. Holmes Power? Its like a Dead Sea fruit. When you achieve it there is nothing there. Harold Macmillan O beautiful for spacious skies For amber waves of grain For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! Katharine Lee Bates Suddenly from behind the rim of the moon in long slow-motion moments of immense majesty there emerges a sparkling blue and white jewel a light delicate sky-blue sphere laced with slowly swirling veils of white rising gradually like a small pearl in a thick sea of black mystery. It takes more than a moment to fully realize this is Earth ... home. Edgar Mitchell Esoteric science premises the existence of the Great Unmanifest which may be conceived as a sea of limitless but latent force which underlies all things and whence all things derive their substance and draw their life. Dion Fortune Though they go mad they shall be sane Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again Though lovers be lost Love shall not. And Death Shall Have No Dominion. Dylan Thomas To cleave that sea in the gentle autumnal season murmuring the name of each islet is to my mind the joy most apt to transport the heart of man into paradise. Nikos Kazantzakis A gull rides the waves as if Made for the sea A swallow will sail high in the air. Oh let my soul rise let it Soar far and free; Or mount on the high winds of care. Clara Edmunds-Hemingway The trumpet! the trumpet! the dead have all heard; Lo the depths of the stone-covered charnels are stirred: From the sea from the land from the south and the north. The vast generations of man are come forth. Henry H. Milman Fear not to swear; the winds carry the perjuries of lovers without effect over land and sea thanks to Jupiter. The father of the gods himself has denied effect to what foolish lovers in their eagerness have sworn. Tibullus Glory to those who have explored the sea of ??darkness and what there was to explore. Their folly represents the highest degree of intellect. Carl William Brown We watch the liner in the distance glide Out from the sheltered waters of the bay Into the arms of ocean's vastness won. Enfolded in infinity of tide We lose it and the last faint smoke line gray Merges into the sunset and is gone. Vanished from sight and lost art thou at sea Swallowed in oceans blue immensity? Ah no. Though trackless be the deep and wide Thy pilot shall bring thee triumphantly Into the harbor on the other side. Edith E. McGee The sea is God's thoughts spread out. â ⸝ BIO
tw: death, child death, drowning to be updated more in the future
Naia Thalia Monroe was born on April 7, 1617, in a quaint seaside village. As a child, she was curious about the sea and fascinated by its mysteries. Her family was close-knit: her father was a skilled fisherman, her mother managed the household, and she had a younger brother who was the light of her life.
From a young age, Naia was known for her gentle demeanor and soothing presence, qualities that would later become significant in her life as a siren. She married young to a kind-hearted man who was a fellow fisherman, and together they started a family. They lived a modest but happy life, finding joy in the simple pleasures of the sea and their little home by the shore.
In 1648, Naia's husband set out on a fishing expedition, accompanied by Naita, their son, & her father. Her & her child weren't supposed to be there, but her son loved & adored his father, wanting nothing but to be with him. He threw fits if he was gone for more than an hour. So they were on the ship, helping catch fish and whatever else may have you. Shrimp, mussels, crawfish, etc. The journey started as a routine expedition, but as the day wore on, an enchanting, melancholic song drifted over the waves. It was the sirenâs song, designed to lure sailors to their doom. The songâs beauty was irresistible, and Naiaâs husband, believing someone was in distress, steered the ship towards the sound. Tragically, the ship struck hidden rocks beneath the surface, causing a catastrophic crash. The impact was fatal for Naiaâs husband, and both her father and son drowned in the cold, dark waters. Naia was devastated, grappling with immense grief and guilt over the loss of her family.
As Naia floated in the wreckage, she was discovered by the siren responsible for the disaster. This siren was ancient, a creature of the deep with a tragic and lonely past. The siren saw Naiaâs profound sorrow and desperation as an opportunity. She offered Naia a chance to escape her grief and loneliness, but at a terrible price.
The siren proposed that Naia join her in a new existence beneath the waves. Naia was torn between the anguish of her loss and the promise of an eternal companionship. She refused the siren's offer & out of some deep-rooted evil & fear of being alone, the siren forced her under the waters to join her as a companion.
The transformation process was both physical and emotional. The sirenâs magic drowned Naia in the dark, cold depths of the sea, where she experienced a profound sense of both death and rebirth. Her human form was replaced with that of a siren: beautiful yet deadly. She became an immortal being with the power to enchant and ensnare.
Initially, Naia struggled with her new identity. She was haunted by memories of her family and conflicted about her new role as a predator. The siren tried to mentor her, teaching her how to use her voice to lure sailors and survive in the treacherous underwater world. Naia learned to adapt to her new existence, feasting on the flesh of those who fell victim to their schemes.
Over the next several decades, Naia lived a life of both luxury and horror. She grew accustomed to the sirenâs ways, though she never fully embraced them. She would occasionally try to resist the urge to lure sailors, but the allure of her siren nature was always there, a constant battle between her instincts and her fading memories of her human life.
Naiaâs relationship with the siren was complex. She resented the siren for taking her family from her and for forcing her into this new, violent life. Yet, she also recognized that the siren had given her a form of companionship and a means of survival. Their relationship was a mixture of dependence, manipulation, and reluctant affection.
As the years turned into centuries, Naiaâs resentment grew. She became more skilled and cunning, plotting her escape from the sirenâs grasp. At around the age of 300, she found an opportunity. Using her wits and the few allies she had made over the years, she orchestrated a plan to break free from the sirenâs influence.
Her escape was fraught with danger and required a deep, perilous journey through the undersea realms. After a fierce confrontation, she managed to break away, severing her connection with the siren and beginning a new chapter of her existence.
After escaping the sirenâs clutches, Naia wandered the world, moving from place to place, haunted by her past but driven to find a new purpose. Her travels eventually led her to Greywood, a quiet town where she decided to settle down and start anew. At the age of 403, she opened the Blue Frog Cafe, a sanctuary for both herself and those who sought comfort in the town.
Here, she strives to build a new life, blending her old worldâs wisdom with the new one sheâs trying to embrace. The cafĂŠ serves as a bridge between her past and present, a place where she can contribute to the community while keeping her darker nature at bay.

â ⸝ SIREN FORM
Appearance
Overall Aesthetic: Naiaâs siren form exudes an otherworldly allure, blending elements of the sea with an elegant, haunting beauty. Her appearance is both captivating and unsettling, a testament to her dual nature as both a seductive enchantress and a predatory force.
Skin: Her skin is a pale, iridescent blue with a subtle shimmer that reflects the colors of the ocean. It has an almost translucent quality, giving her an ethereal glow in the water. This coloration is reminiscent of moonlight on the sea or the glimmer of fish scales under the sun.
Eyes: Naiaâs eyes are a striking, deep sea green with flecks of silver that resemble the shifting light on the waterâs surface. They have a hypnotic quality, capable of enchanting those who meet her gaze. Her pupils are elongated, similar to a catâs, enhancing her predatory aspect.
Hair: Her hair is long and flowing, cascading down her back like a silken waterfall of dark teal with hints of seafoam green. It moves as if underwater, with gentle, fluid motions that seem to sway with the currents. The hair is adorned with delicate seaweed-like strands and tiny, bioluminescent sea creatures that glow softly in the dark.
Tail: From the waist down, Naia possesses a long, sinuous tail covered in shimmering scales. The tail is a blend of dark blues and greens, with a gradient that becomes lighter towards the fluke. The fin at the end of her tail is wide and elegant, with intricate patterns that resemble the waves and ripples of the sea.
Fins and Gills: She has delicate, translucent fins along her arms, legs, and sides that resemble the frills of sea anemones. Her gills are faintly visible on her neck and ribs, appearing as subtle, almost decorative ridges.
Voice: Her voice is enchanting and melodious, with a hauntingly beautiful quality that can both soothe and seduce. Her singing is an integral part of her siren nature, able to lure sailors and captivate those who hear it.
Naiaâs siren form is a breathtaking vision of the seaâs beauty and peril. Her pale, iridescent skin glistens with the hues of the ocean, and her long, dark teal hair flows like sea foam caught in a gentle current. Her deep sea green eyes, flecked with silver, draw you in with their hypnotic allure. A sinuous tail of dark blues and greens undulates gracefully behind her, ending in a wide, elegant fin. Delicate, translucent fins adorn her limbs, and her voice, a haunting melody, carries the weight of both enchantment and sorrow. Her attire, a flowing sea silk garment adorned with pearls and seaweed, floats around her like mist, completing the image of a siren both beautiful and tragic.

Desperate to escape the wrath of the all too powerful magick wielding Sizithian ruler, your father sends you off to wed the king of the Protectorate of Sha, upon his daunting request.
For the very first time, you set off outside of the confines of your home, traveling east to resentfully start your very unwanted life. But beyond the walls of your kingdom is more than what meets the eye.
The world you live in isnât as peaceful as you always thought it would be, the mythical creatures whose stories you used to recall to the children of the kingdom stare you in the eye, elves, fairies and mermaids alike. It was also then that you witnessed the full capability of the dragonâs wing to summon an eclipse as it flew over the land below it. And just like all the stories you knew about; the untold tale of the dragon raid will inevitably lead to the greatest war of all.

˘ âž
âThe first optimistic glimmer of light in a world that has been lingering in the shadows for longer than memory, and the bravery needed to grasp for that unknown promise of brighter days, lead to escape.â
It has been a few days since your fatherâs approval for you to be the new queen of the Protectorate of Sha. And while you had been crying in your pillows about it every single night, you still found time to plan out your great get away with Yui.
âYour highness,â she bows when she reaches you, flushed cheeks from running all that distance with the rattling armour she wears on the daily, no matter how many times you tell her it isnât necessary. âPrince Shoto requests your presence in the library, says he may have found something you might find useful.â she says, and you all but run back to the prince with that sorry excuse of a dress hindering your every movement.
The architecture of the space is most seen in the bookshelves. The steps are constructed first, arching like the end of a cat's tail before climbing to the first story. The bookshelves follow, constructed up along the wall, with each shelf beginning exactly next to the stairwell. It seems as if the area is built one feature at a time, with each concept building on the previous one.
The bookcases and their inky treasures decorate the tranquil room, quiet in the sense of comfortable solitude and pleasant seaside colours, soft blues, greys, and browns. The bookcase's wood appeared as if it had washed up on a beach someday, as if it had previously been a part of a vast sailing ship. Yet it now rests in its eternal home, in the lonely bay that is the corner of this room.
You look around for a moment in the vast, well-stocked library you know like the back of your hand. People are busy working away in there, examining and reading books and making extracts with such intense interest that you almost envy them for being successful in their search, though it was a generous delight seeing people so happy in their work, and a desire to associate yourself somehow in it, rather than any grudging of their satisfaction, especially when the dual haired prince waves you over eagerly- well, as eager as someone as monotone as him could get.
âHei Nis Volaavâ is what you hear when youâre within earshot of the prince, leading you to question him with an arch of your brow. âPardon?â you ask, leaning closer to hear him again in case you were imagining things.
âThat's- that's what it says, the writing on the scroll,â he slides the book closer to you to pick it up and take a closer look. âSomething about an ancient language called âKaarthurnaxâ from centuries ago, I was not able to get the translation for it, so this is as good as it's going to get.â
âThat's⌠that's amazing Shoto!â Regardless of the princeâs words, you still smile at the book, placing it back on the table and sitting next to him to flip through it in awe. The pages of the book flutter in the breeze as the afternoon light shines through the glass window, the flapping creating the most lovely melody you could hear. Already your favorite; the one you could read over and over and yet want more of, even though not a single word makes sense to you. Those crumpled pages within it are like an elixir. The book had a basic earthy-colored cover that was pleasing to the eyes, comforting.
Even after all these years, itâs soft to the touch, and the edges resembled a cherished teddy bear, dog-eared pages probably marked a favorite phrase, maybe one that confessed love. Wear signs are almost nonexistent, as if someone had been as gentle with the book as they would be with a porcelain doll, despite the fact that they might have flipped through it hundreds of times . The pages within appear to have been bathed in golden rays and absorbed them, so gently radiant were they. And the letters fell into place as though by the hand of a musician, one who was used to the finer notes of beauty.
âHere, you can see those that resemble the same letters,â he pulls out your journal with the ripped piece of scroll and places it next to the book, comparing the lines and nodding before he turns the pages to show you the rest. âYou think my father speaks it? He- he looked really distraught when he saw the scroll, tried to smudge away the ink,â you point out to the bleeding ink with a frown, looking up at the prince to see him do the same.
âI- I don't think so, it's a really old language, no one really speaks it aside from, well, the books says no one but mythical creaturesâŚâ
âWell, gotta get straight to the source, huh?â you mumble to yourself before you get up with a grin, slamming the book close before a puff of dust urges a cough out of you, â-talk about ancient.â Your body shivers when you hear a breathy chuckle, turning around to face the prince only to find his stoic face looking right back at you.
Bowing gratefully, you hold the books under your arm and leave the library in a haste, throwing an excuse of using the powder room as you leave the prince blinking at your retreating back, a small smile tugging at his lips before he returns the other books in their respective places silently.
With getting one puzzle piece closer to uncovering the truth, you walk purposefully to your fatherâs council chamber again, steps faltering the closer you get to it, worry washing over you as you recall your recent visit to it.
The first red flag you shouldnât have overlooked is the absence of the guards, the last one you see is miles away from the door, and you turn around to question his position, before pressing your lips together and making it to the large door.
Right before you knock, you hear your mother, well, you hear her wails, her warm voice shaken to its depths as she sobs, just like a long hopeless violin, âwhy couldnât you just say no?â she weeps, and you barely hold yourself from bursting in because never in your life have you heard your mother raise her voice even a pinch higher at your father.
Your father's voice - lacking sympathy, as usual, but given the way that he had raised you, you can't claim to be surprised - forces its way into your ear. âYou dare question your king? You think I'm not doing this for the benefit of my people?â âOh, you and your people!â a gasp slips past your lips at her outburst, fingers on the handle shaking in fear of what the king might do to his wifeâs raised voice.
âMy land, my kingdom, my people; you and I both know youâre nothing without the Emperor, like a dog chasing after his owner with his tail wedged between his legsââ you canât even question it, the ringing slap across your motherâs face echoes in the empty hallway, the noise of which smites sharply upon the ear, like the crack of a pistol in an alley.
Muffling your choked sob, you rest your hand on the wall to balance yourself, feeling your body burn up at the sound of your motherâs crying. Yet what surprises you is that she keeps going, no matter how loud your father gets, she screams louder.
âSilence!â His shouts reverberate against the wooden door, and the sudden urge to beat him down with the books is unavoidable, but you hold your breath at your motherâs words, biting your lip until the metallic taste hits your buds.
âThis is what it is, your majesty, youâre given power, authority and a land almost as big as your ego,â his hand against the table shakes your demeanor, like a little wobbling deer taking its first steps when you back away in fear. âAnd the price has always been your daughter?â
The books slide from underneath your grip, and for a second, there is nothing but your panting breath and the cluttering fall of the cursed books.
âWho goes there?â Comes the angry bellow of your father, the king, and as much as you push yourself to move, gravity suddenly nails your feet to the ground as your whole body shakes in fear.
Never before have you noticed how time is similar to water in that it may pass slowly, a drop at a time, even freeze, or it can rush by you in an instant. The clock tells you it is measured and consistent, tick tock, tick tock, like a part of a well-ordered universe; but the clock lies. The last-minute has flown by like hundreds of fluttering pages every second, one by one. Your heartbeat is louder, the wind is cooler, and the colors are dimmer in this slow-time bubble. All the while, your insides feel as if there is nothing there, nothing that needs to be fed, nothing that requires anything but the need to run, run.
And so you do, you pick up the fallen books, bunch up your dress, and race time as you try to the round the corner before your father opens the door, letting out a breath you didnât know you were holding when the last inch of your dress passes by the wall before he tugs the door wide open, yelling and threatening as you do what you do best, round every corner, climb up and down stairs, only stopping when you make it back to your room.
You donât realize youâre crying until your tears cloud your vision, dripping one after another on the leather book before you wipe them away with your sleeve, fighting the urge to cry out when you hear guards running past your door at the kingâs call.
A few heavy minutes pass before Yui knocks on your door, an agreed pattern informing you of her identity before she peeks in with a smile when she finds you in your room. âGood news, Kaoru is fed and packed with all your necessities, ready for your-â
âIâm⌠Iâm not leaving. They- it was all planned out...â
They say sorrow comes after anger, but anger never occurs except in direct self-defense, so perhaps you can credit your inherent passivity with your willingness to cry and suffer pain, to let the sorrow teach you more about your true nature and how fragile humans actually are.
Those that need to escape make a fantasy of it. It comes in ways that appear so playful, it ends up being the smoke of the fire that burns within. Yet fire cares not of the time it vanishes, only that it gives heat and light at the moment, and youâre left with nothing but everlasting cold and a heart wrenching bitterness.
Mourning is the dawn before the light is brave enough to cascade over the horizon. It is the time when the colours of the world bowed in reverence to the grief, pausing, pausing... before moving on with the new day and the life that needed loving attention once more.
The seventh day's sun rises like a canopy of gold, brilliant among the blue, bidding the stars to retire for the night. As the darkness fades, every color shifts from charcoal to vibrancy. On any other day, you wonder what is offered in exchange for such heavenly magic gifts; perhaps it is love, perhaps it spreads into space, perhaps it is the link to creation beyond the limits of the world, of reality. Perhaps you, too, are made of gold, a brilliant flame that burns for another kind. That's an idea as warm as a bright new day for you, one that tickles your mind as much as your heart.
The celebration weaves the crowd together as the most magnificent of colors. Swimming through as a school of happy fish, bright in rainbow hues, converting their joy into the cheers and congrats as they call your name in triumph.
Lanterns are passed along between the townspeople are the stars made to salute the black heavens, as if shooting stars pause to light the path, nestled in the wintry boughs.
Alas, today, as you watch your mother dress herself in a gown as dark as night, sobbing into her handkerchief before she throws herself on your fatherâs chest to quiet herself down, fists flimsy as they pound against his chest with mumbles of blame slipping past her lips. You remember that youâre just an ember swaying in the wind, taking your last breath before youâre put out, never to see the light again.
âIâd like to say a few words,â your father says before pausing to push your mother away like a lint on his cape, silencing her wails with a hard glare you still remember as if burnt into the back of your eyelids. âI think youâve said plenty enough, your majesty.â You bow mockingly before walking past him, wrapping your arms around your mother as she cries an apology after the other into your shoulder.
âWe must take our leave,â the prince calls, back straight despite the situation heâs in, watching intently as your father turns to face you while you wipe away your motherâs tears.
âKnow this,â you look down to meet your fatherâs gaze after getting up on the horse, grinning maliciously when he grunts. âRemember this place, because any day now, anything that the sun touches will belong to me.â
The outside world is quite astonishing, when you finally make your way out of the confines of the castle. When you first look beyond the horizon and see nature without your imagination's veil, awe comes at you, with the naked eye and the mind open to the beauty of this world. It is the baby's delight when they first see a dog or witness a leaf blow in the wind. And when you notice those little things, when you fall in love with the journey, everything brightens. The larger items become nearly overpowering, and the sensation of excitement grows exponentially. It is only then that you realize you have lived a half-life, greyed and devoid of the warmth that every human being is born with.
The trees are dancing ladies in this light that colors your skin so warmly, each in a dress more magnificent than any designer can create. They move in perfect rhythm with one another, orchestrated by the wind. They are the heart and soul of this early summer morning, and you wonder how many different shades of green you are seeing. You extend your arms up, fingers stretched toward the sun, and slowly begin to relax as they stretch upwards and outwards toward the light, soaking in rays as pure as rain.
âYour highness,â breaks you out of your trance, straightening up and running your hand through the horseâs mane with an almost annoyed hum at having your moment with nature ruined by the princeâs guard. âPrince Shoto requests you ride with him up front, if you may.â he bows his head, and you bite your lip regretfully at almost snapping at him before nodding timidly, nudging the side of the horse with a click of your tongue to speed him up until youâre next to the prince.
âAh, your highness, thank you for joining me.â you only hum in reply, eyes darting at the beauty surrounding you. âYou know, I was kind of waiting for your great escape to happen before we leave,â he looks forward as he speaks, disregarding your flabbergasted expression before you try to contain yourself. âPardon?â âYou were planning to run away, werenât you.â It's nowhere near being a question, you blink ahead and only nod in answer, biting the inside of your cheek as the horse puffs air after slowing down.
âH-how did, how did you know?â he lets out a chuckle before replying. âYouâre not exactly the best at keeping secrets, your highnessâŚâ awkwardly, you canât help but laugh, shaking your head before the sight of the guards getting in formation to surround the two of you catches your attention.
âYou, you seem to know a lot, more than you let on,â he hums, asking you to elaborate. âFirst of all, there's the whole thing with my plan.â âThat you surprisingly didnât go through with.â you couldâve sworn there is a teasing lilt to his voice, but you only turn to see his face as expressionless as ever.
âRight, then the whole thing with the Emperor, his relationship with my father- and donât tell me you know nothing about them, you being intelligent and able to piece things together doesn't make me an idiot.â Only then do you turn around to marvel at your surroundings, except, what youâre faced with is nothing to awe at.
The forest that once seemed to be alive now chills you. Under the heat of the sun, your body still shakes. You pass by the muddy river that eddies as if it were hand stirred hot cocoa. The trees that sheltered so many with their spreading canopy of green and provided so much are now lifeless sticks of charcoal, no more vibrant than the old lamp-posts in the kingdom. The light illuminates the scorched ground and still that smell of burning lingers despite the light drizzling rain.
The prince hands you his cloak before you wave him away politely, showing him yours and covering your head with it as your eyes flail left and right at the scene that drastically changes in seconds. Your eyes fall on the littered gravestones that have sunk into the soft soil giving them the appearance of shrinking. The engraved words, so weathered by a century of rain, sit just above the level of the ground covering plants that sprawled over the dirt. As your horse passes by the scattered graves, you canât help but notice the one that wasnât entirely submerged.
Only the crown of the skull is poking above the soil, obvious signs of a poor burial. Presented as if the heavy rains have revealed it. In a week or two the leaves of fall would have covered it again and the body will rest again in its grave. Alas, curiosity nibs at you as you pass by it, the skeleton looks fresh. In some places there is a pink sheen where flesh had been newly and inexpertly removed. There are tool marks gauged into recently living bone and a round hole in the skull. At the rear the head was cleaved open with a sharp knife and itâs now hollow.
You wrap yourself in the cloak, waves of nausea adding to your misery. Your brain feels like it would swell beyond the capacity of your skull and now your stomach lurches and gurgles. you raise your heavy eyelids halfway only for them to fall shut. You pry them open again and turn away from the scene, blinking away the burning tears as you try to breathe through the nauseated feeling, only looking at the concerned prince and nodding at him to keep moving.
âThat's, that's my fatherâs kingdom?â You all but whimper at the sight of the bruised and battered people finding shelter under the ruined buildings, looking up at you with hope that dies immediately when you pass by them. âHeâs giving me up, for this?â
âIâm- Iâm afraid so⌠all given by the emperor,â
It's been there a while now, this anger, escaping when youâre lost in your thoughts. youâre angry at your ruined childhood and dreams, angry at the lies youâve been fed since you learned how to speak, and by god are you angry at your father. Though in a fume of hot anger, you had the good sense to choke back the first impetuous reprimand trembling on your lips, only letting yourself utter those words.
âWeâll see about that,â
