Yonimo Kimyona Monogatari 2024
Tumblr media
Free
Rika Shinozaki (played by Nana Seino), who works at a video production company, was busy editing videos for a men’s beauty spa. On her screen were stock footage clips of an older man (played by Kenso Fukutsu) labeled “Man Cooking,” “Man Having a Drink,” and “Man Standing Still.”
Taking a break, Rika left her desk, but when she returned, the stock footage “man” that had been on her computer screen was gone. Suddenly, she heard a noise coming from the supposedly empty office. Turning around, she was startled to find the very same “man” from the screen now standing there in real life...
First Tanaka family father audition.
Kenichi Tanaka (played by Takashi Tanaka), a company employee, spends his days consumed by work, constantly staying late for overtime. One evening, after finishing another long day at work and returning home, his wife, Azusa (played by Shoko Iketsu), informs him that she has something important to announce. Assuming it might be about a divorce, Kenichi is taken aback when she reveals instead that she has decided to hold "The First Tanaka Family Father Audition." Word of this unusual event spreads quickly, and Kenichi finds himself participating in the audition, competing with a group of quirky individuals for the title of the Tanaka family's father.
City Lives
What is the largest animal in the world? The answer is "The City."
A colossal creature that mimics urban environments by reading human memories, "The City" is considered the largest living being on Earth. Satoshi Sato (played by himself) and Kenta Mizutani (played by Takeshi Itakura), a behind-the-scenes cameraman for a wildlife TV show, are unexpectedly swallowed and trapped inside "The City" while waiting in a car during what they thought was a routine shoot.
To unravel the mysteries of "The City," they begin an exclusive interview with Misaki Tsuji (played by Yuki Katayama), a ranger from the Urban Wildlife Preservation Organization (commonly known as Toseiho), and the only human living within the organism. As they witness surreal phenomena—such as groups of moving buildings crossing barren landscapes, skyscrapers sprouting like plants, and "pseudo-residents," eerily lifelike humans created from the city’s own body—the team delves deeper into their investigation. Along the way, they search for the reason "The City" chose to imprison them in its vast, enigmatic structure.
Ah, the motherland.
I (played by Matsuya Onoe), a producer at a television network, received a call from my superior (played by Kanji Tsuda). The startling news? A small African nation suddenly declared war on our country and was advancing toward us with just two small ships.
Under orders from my boss, I was assigned to produce a special news report on the situation. As part of the coverage, I began investigating the recently independent Republic of Pagizia.
Only 40 days remain until they reach our shores! What will become of our nation’s fate?
Happy 2025 :P

After the Rain, Love Blooms
Tumblr media
After the Rain (Japanese: 恋は雨上がりのように, Hepburn: Koi wa Ameagari no Yō ni, which translates to "Love Is Like After the Rain") is a touching Japanese manga series created by Jun Mayuzuki. Initially serialized in Shogakukan's Monthly Big Comic Spirits from June 2014 to November 2015, and later in Weekly Big Comic Spirits until March 2018, the series concluded with a total of 10 tankōbon volumes.
The story centers on Akira Tachibana, a high school student who works part-time at a family restaurant. Her life changes when she develops feelings for Masami Kondo, the restaurant’s 45-year-old manager. Masami, a kind and timid man who has been through a divorce and has a young son, becomes the unexpected focus of Akira's affection. As Akira grapples with her feelings and the complexities of her situation, she must decide whether to express her emotions to Masami.
After the Rain was adapted into a 12-episode anime series by Wit Studio, which aired from January to March 2018 on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block. Additionally, a live-action film adaptation was released in May 2018. In North America, Vertical licensed the manga, publishing it in five omnibus volumes from September 2018 to September 2019. Sentai Filmworks holds the license for the anime series' home video and digital releases.
The manga has been well-received, with over two million copies in circulation by April 2018 and won the 63rd Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category that same year.
Key Characters:
Akira Tachibana (Voiced by Sayumi Watabe, English by Luci Christian; Played by Nana Komatsu): A high school student and former track team member, Akira falls for Masami after a kind gesture from him during a rainy day. Despite her seemingly aloof exterior, she’s quite shy and reserved, especially around Masami.
Masami Kondo (Voiced by Hiroaki Hirata, English by Jason Douglas; Played by Yo Oizumi): The 45-year-old manager of the family restaurant who is kind but often seen as weak by his staff. Divorced and father to a young son, Masami is initially unaware of Akira’s true feelings for him.
Haruka Kyan (Voiced by Emi Miyajima, English by Elizabeth Maxwell; Played by Nana Seino): Akira’s loyal friend from her track team days who remains supportive after her injury.
Yui Nishida (Voiced by Haruka Fukuhara, English by Maggie Flecknoe; Played by Honoka Matsumoto): A cheerful coworker at the restaurant who has her own romantic interests.
Ryosuke Kase (Voiced by Tomoaki Maeno, English by Jason Liebrecht; Played by Hayato Isomura): A restaurant chef with inappropriate intentions towards Akira, leading to a tense subplot involving blackmail.
Takashi Yoshizawa (Voiced by Junya Ikeda, English by Gareth West; Played by Shono Hayama): Akira’s classmate and coworker who has a crush on her.
Kayoko Kubo (Voiced by Mika Kanai, English by Patricia Duran; Played by Mari Hamada): A supporting character in the series.
Yuto Kondo (Voiced by Junko Takeuchi, English by Kira Vincent-Davis; Played by Shunya Shiraishi): Masami’s young son, adding a layer of family dynamic to the story.
Chihiro Kujo (Voiced by Mitsuru Miyamoto; Played by Shigeyuki Totsugi): Masami’s former college buddy who is now a renowned writer.
After the Rain is a poignant exploration of unexpected love and the complexities of human relationships, beautifully illustrated and narrated by Jun Mayuzuki.

The most unfiltered, unhinged and comedic crime Jdrama I've ever watched. 🤣
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ever wondered what the police officers and criminals do when they are not busy hunting criminals or committing crimes? They talk about random things like everyone else at work, gossips, life, broken dreams, weird habits and fetish, reminiscing the "good old days", blaming society and government, ranting about their bosses, etc.
The drama focus on three groups:
A pair of male detectives, a despair, jaded and philosophical 50 year old (Toyokawa Etsushi) who doesn't climb up the ranks like his peers and currently facing an old age crisis. And a 29 year old charming, cheeky and trigger happy detective (Nakamura Tomoya) who is always on the look out for a piece of action to use his revolver.
A pair of female radio dispatchers, a cynical, panicky and worn out senior (Kimura Yoshino) who is tired of having to train every newbies who came into the department, only to quit shortly after. And a rookie (Seino Nana) who despite her demure looks and cutesy voice is actually vulgar and quick to use her fists to solve a conflict.
The criminals. The first season is about two males and one female who got into a crime that is too much than they bargain for that they tried to escape their crime bosses. The second season is about a Yakuza, a Chinese triad, and a female busker who got caught in between due to misunderstanding, which result in a chaotic war.
The drama has similar vibes and humor to the anime, Odd Taxi. It caught me off guard in the first episode as I was expecting it to be like the usual jdrama crime trope and it took me awhile to get used to the different style of story-telling and dark humor, discovering how messed up it is and how hilarious it really is by the time I finish it.
The conversations they have feels "real" and "unfiltered" as you know this is the type of things guys and girls usually talk about when they're alone, with no one else to hear and judge them. The kind of talk you have with that one colleague closest to you, the only one you trust at work to talk to during lunch and pantry breaks.
youtube
If you like crime jdramas and wants something different, refreshing, unique, unfiltered and witty, this one is for you. I'm so used to seeing Toyokawa Etsushi, Nakamura Tomoya and Mai Shiraishi playing cool characters that it caught me off guard and had me laughing seeing how clumsy and messed up they are in this drama.
