the conflict between being immensely frustrated that pokemon dlc in general just seems to throw as many new characters at u as possible so they can keep being like 'look at this! look at this new thing! new content!' insted of actually expanding the themes and characters we actually give a shit about, and being relieved that because of those dumbass decsions, i never feel the urge to buy them

Arvin and kieran meeting a shy but sweet new girl with this team.
Tapu koko who through some magical shenanigans can't be more then a mile away from the girl with out falling incredibly ill.
A motherly salazle who has a charm that allows her to talk English
A blood moon ursaluna who's the girls main body guard and hes very protective
And a female iron valiant who acts like a big sister. Who threatens anyone that if they hurt the girl she'll cut them down
Gotta say I appreciate the addition of Blood Moon Ursa. Officially my fav gen 9 ground type <3
............
Arven
The moment he met you, he realized you were too nice for your own good sometimes...being the shy and sweet transfer student who winds up being his partner in many classes.
He might tease you from time to time, although he lightens up only after he realizes Mabosstiff likes you--which mean he has to like you as well and not accidentally be too rude.
During battle studies, you two have a match and he's shook when you suddenly bring out Tapu Koko.
Somehow you have a powerful Alolan Guardian deity wrapped around your finger...yet you never once bragged about it.
But Arven fully believes you have a Ditto or Zorua who just chooses to impersonate a Tapu, wondering when it's gonna drop the act.
Soon he finds out that nope, it's the real deal, and you have some strange connection that doesn't allow it to wander too far from you.
Otherwise, it falls violently ill and its magic abilities are weakened.
You're certain it was hexed by someone who wanted to punish it for its mischief, so you've been travelling around hoping to find a "cure".
And ofc that meant Koko had to abandon its duties at Melemele Island and become your Pokémon. It was reluctant at first, but quickly became a loyal friend to you.
Eventually Arven meets the rest of your team, including a female Iron Valiant that escaped from the crater and made herself your ally after saving you from trouble.
She's your literal knight in shining armor, acting like a big sister figure instead of an emotionless robot programmed to attack.
Oftentimes she comes out of the pokeball herself if she senses you're in any kind of danger.
Blood Moon Ursaluna is another bodyguard of yours....who is MASSIVE and utterly terrifying.
All you did was go to Kitakami on a school trip and you suddenly come back with an ancient Ursaring variant/evolution??
How tf are you picking up so many dangerous Pokémon?
Just when he thinks Salazzle is the only "normal" one on your team...
He finds out that she can actually talk, addressing him by name and asking what he was cooking one day.
For a split second he thinks her pheromones/toxins were making him hallucinate...until he sees you having a full blown conversation with her.
It turns out that she developed the ability to speak human language, using it to scare off a group of male Salandits who were threatening you.
At first, she only ever said random words she picked up from humans, but you taught her how to speak coherently and gave her some books...and now she's 100% fluent in English.
All in all, Arven finds your team very...diverse.
You don't really do many Pokémon battles, as they all act like your bodyguards/friends instead. But then again he's never been too battle-crazy either (unlike a certain girl he knows who'd give ANYTHING to battle Tapu Koko).
Kieran
Your personality kinda reminds him of his old self: shy and sweet, oftentimes hiding behind protective figures, etc.
Part of him kinda hated it, but he was good at hiding it.
Was instantly impressed by your Pokémon team, especially the robotic-looking Gardevoir/Gallade hybrid.
Although being a country boi he's bewildered about her LED eyes and her robotic trills, and is definitely not too thrilled about all Pokémon looking like her in some distant/potential future.
Tapu Koko leaves him bewildered, especially when you explained your connection to it while it roamed around the coastal biome, reminiscing about its home in Alola.
He's heard rumors of the Blood Moon Ursaluna back in Kitakami, not caring for it as much as Ogerpon, but he NEVER expected to see that someone like you could have tamed it.
During a battle, Incineroar's flames almost burned you, and your Ursaluna was enraged and knocked him out with one Headlong Rush. Completely unprompted.
Since then Kieran made a point to instruct the feline to be more precise with his fire attacks..lest he became weak.
You impressed the League Club with your talking Salazzle...but at first he believes you're just being irritating and distracting..
Until she talks to him directly, and he's like "...oh wowzers..so you can understand me????"
That's the most shocked anyone in the club has ever seen their leader...
Being motherly as she is, your Salazzle often asks how he's feeling and how Hydrapple is....and he usually shuts down and tells her to mind her business.
But after Area Zero's events, when she asked him again he broke down crying and the poison/fire lizard lowkey panicked.
She had to get you to calm him down.
Since then you two have become close friends, and while in the beginning he was envious of your unique team (that also reminded him of somebody else), he realizes you thought his Hydrapple and battle setups were unique, too.
It honestly made his day.

Hello I am back with more lore questions about your comics if u wanna answer 👀 (I looked back, but couldn't find this mentioned so sorry if I just missed it 😅)
I was curious since the comic starts after all the main plot stuff has happened: we know El is the Champ of the Alola League, but did she also do the island challenge trials like in the game or was she just traveling around with Hau while he did his? If she did do the trials did you make up a reason why the kahunas would let her, despite being well over the age limit for it? If she didn't was there some other motivation for her building her team up enough that she could beat the league when it was finished?
We're basically playing out the original story of SM with some changes!
Tumblr media
Originally El just wanted a FUCKING VACATION and came from Hoenn after receiving a letter from her mom, to come to Alola and help her move into their newly bought appartement. But then Kukui busted through the door to welcome them and El's mom insisted on her coming with Kukui to get to know the locals while she'd continue setting up the place in the meantime. El didn't have any of her old Pokemon with her, as she heard of the strict laws of letting "invasive species" into Alola and she didn't want to deal with the paperwork, especially since she assumed she'd only stay in Alola for 2-3 weeks at best. Kukui showed her the way to Iki Town, talked about their customs, wanted to introduce her to the island Kahuna. When they couldn't find him, Kukui suggested he might be up Mahalo Trail, but stays behind in case Hala might come back from Hauoli City instead. El checks it out, she meets Lillie, the saving-Nebby-scene plays out where Tapu Koko rescues Nebby and El, El unexpectedly receives the sparkling stone from Tapu Koko that Hala makes a Z-Ring out of. Due to the incident, Hala encourages El to partake in one of Alolas oldest traditions as a way to get accustomed to Alolas culture but also to welcome her into it and keep an eye on her, with Halas and Kukuis interest being sparked by the appearance of their deity. The fact that she's way over the age of regular trial goers is not a problem, Tapu Koko must have given her that stone for a reason so Hala simply follows the will of the Tapus and is interested to see how El's journey will play out.
El feels honored being so welcomed by the Kahuna himself and is also too polite to decline partaking in the island challenge, even though she wasn't really interested in going on anther journey and building a new team of Pokemon...wasn't this supposed to be a vacation aside from helping out her mom??
But her mother is surprisingly supportive of El going on the island challenge, as she feared strangers like them from Kalos might have a hard time fitting in and making friends with the locals. She's okay with El not being able to help out setting up the house, as in her opinion "You're doing your part by learning everything you can about the region and getting to know our new neighbors."
After getting to know Hau the next day during a Festival in Iki Town, El starts to feel more like Hala specifically put them together so someone would keep an eye on Hau while the old Kahuna is unable to. Babysitting it is then. GREAT. But the innocent sweet little sunshine that is our Malasada Boy QUICKLY grows on El and she takes looking after him VERY SERIOUSLY and becomes the Mom-friend of the group. She downright enjoys looking after the shy Lillie and the joyful Hau while getting to see so many of Alolas amazing sights. She also greatly enjoys Kukuis company I might add...
Until she finds out he's taken. FUCK. GODDAMNIT. OF COURSE HE FUCKING IS AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG "No Hau I'm not depressed. No I don't act strangely hostile towards Burnet what are you talking about nooooooo pass me the Malasada Hau. EW. It's BITTER. WHY'D THEY SELL THAT. I HATE IT HERE"
Don't worry, she recovers... El really starts to get into the challenge after a while. She was never a fan of challenging Gyms and greatly enjoys the different Trials she gets to go on instead. Alola quickly becomes her favorite region for the lush beautiful nature, the incredibly kind people and the Pokemon she meets along the way. Her team is unbalanced, but that's what makes her grow more closely together with her Pokemon than any previous team she had before. Beating trainers is a challenge due to the many bug-and flying-types on her team, she has to strategize more than ever before to make it work and be able to defeat the Kahunas. Her Oricorio Sweets would become her Partner Pokemon in the end, when she survived multiple hits from Kukuis Incineroar, holding on to 1 HP multiple times because of how determined the little bird was and how much she loved her trainer, defeating Incineroar in the end.
Tumblr media
(This was my OG Team, only Sweets and my Golisopod Titan made it into the comics in the end, her Decidueye and Vikavolt are on Mohn's Pelago, Fletchinder I'd actually still like to include at some point)
El didn't expect to stay in Alola. She didn't expect to build a new team or even join the League or becoming CHAMPION of all things... Let's be real, Kukui didn't really give her much of a choice in joining. After Hau and El finished their island challenge, it was more of a "might as well join the League I just finished building" from the Professor, since before it was built, the final challenge WOULD have taken place on Mount Lanakila anyway. But what surprised El the most, was the fact that, after winning, she was offered the position of Champion by Kukui at all. IF she would have won, she thought, surely they'd not let a stranger like her actually keep the title and defend it. But NOPE. All hail Alolas first champion El I suppose. And with this, it was clear that El had to extend her stay in the region. For an...unforseeable time.

Can you imagine the chaos and hilarity that would take place if a happy go lucky s/o switches bodies with Larry?? Larry comes into work smiling brightly and chatting with everyone and giggles at his coworker's jokes. Geeta and Rika thinks the old man has finally lost it.
Meanwhile, a stoic s/o is home, sighing at the amount of paperwork he'll have to catch up on when they switch bodies back. At least his body feels lighter due to the youth and better posture his partner has
A lie on posture… but lol
Honestly, switching bodies with any s/o would have funny situations
Switching bodies with either train twin makes one of them stare at you in this terrifyingly suspicious manner and try to figure out what is wrong with you.
Emmet would grab your shoulders while you are Ingo's body and stare deeply into your eyes like he is trying to ascertain something. He then blankly states that you are not Ingo and wanders off to find “you.”
Ingo, meanwhile, eyes you up from the side and asks a few questions that seem far too personal between him and his brother before signing. He then tells you that you are not a very convincing Emmet and asks what he can do to help. He probably knew from the beginning but wanted to verify that this was not some weird prank Emmet was playing.
Switching with Nanu is exhausting… How does one man feel so tired all the time. You understand his apathy most of the time because he simply feels like he does not have the energy to generate any worry. Somehow, Tapu Bulu is aware that you are not “Nanu” and harasses Nanu in your body. It was a special sight to see a clear preference in action. You also understand his struggles to keep up with Acerola. More respect for him keeping him up.
Nanu meanwhile has never felt so alive since his youth. He just stands in deep contemplation. This is beyond him. He goes to take a nap. His Meowths still recognise him somehow.
Switching with Volo... Volo is ecstatic… Now, he has Arceus's chosen one's body. He is rushing up to the Temple of Sinnoh at top speeds with the Azure Flute in “his” hand. His plan may have failed, but he is so back. However, you are now in his body and waiting for him up there, realising what might happen. Funniest possible showdown. You have to use each other's team.
Switching with Grimsley and finally understanding nicotine and gambling addictions. You offer to help him detox while you are stuck like that. He declines. You have to stop him from smoking in your body. He does it unconsciously. The other Unovan E4 members know something is up but decide they don't mind this change in Grimsley.
Cyrus hates every single second of being in your body over his own. This is beyond logical rationale, and he would like to be returned back into his own as soon as possible. Meanwhile, you now technically have the power to completely ruin his plans and anything else as it stands. You also get to see how obsessed his team members are up close and personal. Saturn is suspicious, though. especially after seeing "you" march up to his boss.

Tapu Mew-Mew Ref Sheet!
Tumblr media
Another thing for the 'Try-Two' Mewtwo AU I'm slowly chipping away at! One (of four) offshoot clones of the original Mewtwo, with lore and concept/research under the cut! --------
So long ago my bestie and I decided that there were going to be a few clones past the original one that we started with that was made in the same lab as Mewtwo. Depending on where they were made, they'd adopt some regional traits. One of which was Alola - where this bean comes in! One of the offshoot Mewtwo project labs was secreted away in Alola, and since the progenitor was a lost cause (what with wrecking shop on the HQ and all), what resources they could divert went into these far-flung facilities. Not that it lasted long - the Island Deities of Alola were not appreciative of such things in their region, and both leveled the facility in entirety, but also kidnapped its focused Mewtwo clone. After years of being raised alongside them, and having not quite fully 'grown' at the time of his rescue, he began to take on weird traits - aided by his Tapu caretakers. This would result in plates similar to theirs, a Water Typing (complete with biologically-created water veil at will!), and pigmentation changes that'd eventually mimic the very beings raising him. As such, they eventually inducted their weird little pseudo-progeny into their roles, playing a bit of an odd 'fifth' role. He doesn't preside over Alola like they do, but he both tends to - and observes - the balance between their natural origins and cultures, while also ensuring the merciless march of technology and contact with outside regions does not cause a discarding of the olden ways. He is the youngest of the clones, but also because of how Alola has become a rich tourist destination, he's also the most well-informed - having known about his 'father's' rampage, the death of Giovanni, and some (not ALL) of his 'siblings'. His nature being what it is, he's also the closest to old-school Mew in demeanour. --RESEARCH TIME-- SO. I wanted to make sure what I was doing wasn't an absolute mess, especially given the Tapu reference a *very real* culture. So, I dug in a bit, looked up each of the four major Hawaiian gods that the Tapu refer to. (at least those that were most prominent, King Kamehameha's reign causing some muddiness in it)
Given that bit of research, plus the other thing Alola's rituals/trials reference (the balance between preserving Hawaii's traditions, while *also* adapting influences from outside regions since contact), I wanted this 'pseudo-Tapu' to be a sort-of 'avatar' for Alola's version of it. A few things: 1) The Tapu have animal themes, which are indicated by their shells and patterning. Tapu Mew-Mew's are less angular, and more loosely resemble manmade structures. 2) As he isn't a biological Tapu, despite his grown shells, he is unable to close them whatsoever. However, he did gain an odd quirk that they can generate a sort of water-shawl and skirt that he calls a 'water veil'. 3) Because he is, by creation, a literal clone (unlike his father, who was an unborn Mew mutated into a Mewtwo), he is slightly indicative of that balance - born by artificial means, raised in nature and adapting to it. The Tapu deemed him fit to both have his own personalized Trials, but also that his role was exactly what he symbolized - observing and maintaining the balance between the two sides of the post-contact cultural shift in Alola.
4) He is *absolutely* as capricious as his caretakers. The reason the Aether Foundation both remains in Alola, but does not stir up trouble is because he has made it all too clear that the reason it still exists was due to him being 'in a good mood' when he confronted Lusamine and her staff. He's also not one to make his retribution proportional. (Damn near considered capsizing it from the get-go because he 'didn't like how it looked'.) An absolute joy to make, and will be even more fun to write! Y'know. Once I get there. |D

I am Eris. I am the leader of Team Apostasy. I will not let anyone derail me from my goal.
If you are receiving this message it is because we believe you could be a great addition to our team.
We are Team Apostasy, we mean you no harm. Our mission is for the good of all.
The term 'team' is mainly for aesthetics (and to get more attention, all publicity is good publicity) In truth, we are a revolution.
We wish to free humanity from the shackles our 'gods' keep us in.
Our Legendaries, our 'gods' hold no empathy for their creations. We are their playthings, nothing more than a sick joke and a form of entertainment.
So I ask you, do you truly wish to live under the tyrannical rule of those that pretend to care? Do you wish to live in fear of these creatures?
Or do you wish to rise up and fight against them?
It is your decision, we await your response.
@team-apostasy-official
//ooc bit before we get started! i am about to tap into the part of me that grew up in Christianity to write this bit. notos isn’t super religious, but you can see the hints of religion in how they speak of the legendaries, especially Rayquaza. just uh. be warned!
okay i genuinely needed to take a second before starting to write this because i needed to process what the fuck you were saying.
alright. your main talking point is that the gods hold no empathy for their people. if that is true, explain why, when hoenn was on the brink of destruction due to the hubris of people like you, Rayquaza came down to cease the chaos? explain why i have seen that same God allow the children of my Team members to clamber over Them like a drampa would?
if all the Gods are merciless tyrants who care not for mortals, explain why i saw Tapu Bulu Himself flying over the city towards the jungle, and why when i returned to the site of that battle with Slash Man, i found it back to how it was before he arrived?
If the Gods shackle us, would the Swords help those in abusive situations escape the ones that harm them?
if the Gods want us to live in fear, why do they Choose some of our own to carry their power and protect us?
if the Gods want us to suffer, would Suicune go around purifying water sources for disadvantaged communities?
you say they only pretend to care. you say they are tyrants. you say that this is a revolution.
you need to understand something, kid. the only time anything legendary-related ever reaches the international news circuit is when it’s a tragedy. never when they do something good. its always when some prideful bastard tries to harness the God’s power without their consent.
going against the Gods. it’s a tale as old as time, and never one that ends well for the rebels. there’s a reason that in Hellenistic mythos, the fatal flaw was always hubris.

🌑- A Joke you like
🌒- Something you consider spiritual
🌓- A reason you'd take leadership
🌔- A story or song that means a lot to you, and why
🌕- Something you are Wiling to Fight and die for
🌑Her favorite joke is one Nanu taught her when they were both stoned:
"What do you call a fish with no eyes? A FSH!"
🌒 She has a bracelet and necklace set that has the carved likeness of the Alolan goddess Mana and her associated Tapu. The bracelet she ends up giving to Piers later on, with true belief it'll protect him.
🌓 We call it being The Mom Friend. If something needs to get done and no one else can or will (due to fear of doing The Thing or any morally sound reasons), then she will do it. She also takes charge to assert dominance or establish herself, like splitting the gym with Marnie and representing Spikemuth alongside Piers.
🌔 Piers' very first song he ever wrote for her is the most special recent song to her. The one from her childhood is both a song and story: an old Alolan tale of how Bulu and Mana fell in love, and he made a flower just for her. She loved it so much that she took it with her everywhere she went, blessing true couples with the gift as well, and when Mana was sealed away, Bulu in his grief destroyed all those flowers, for no one deserved them now...however if love was true and fated, you would see them still. That all being said, no documentation of the flower being spotted has been recorded in over 100 years.
🌕 She will fight for the punks of Po Town, the citizens of Spikemuth and essentially all of Galar, and needless to say, she will fight for Piers and Marnie, RELENTLESSLY. She would die to protect and defend those closest to her without a second thought. She would also very willingly put her life on the line to save her home and its people from invading ultra beasts, especially if the ones who descend are Lusamine and/or Guzma.

ok, to be fair, cross checking for me is just turning up nothing definitive. knew about those posts but they don't actually say much beyond "religions exist". well, and second darkest day happened, so eternatus probably exists there
"There is no definitive proof that most legendaries exist in our universe, save for a few like the Tapus or Eternatus or Groudon and Kyogre..."
its like youre not even reading what im saying???? what am i supposed to do, pull legendary information out of my fucking ass??? i didnt grow up religious i dont know jack shit about legends or mythicals or the religions tied to them!!!!!
but you know who has???
MAPLE AND MIGUEL HAVE. ESPER HAS. AND JAIME IS INTERESTED IN HISTORY AND MYTHOLOGICAL STORIES SO EVEN HE WOULD BE A MORE RELIABLE SOURCE THAN ME ON THIS SUBJECT.
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU. IM NOT FUCKING OMNIPOTENT. I CANT GIVE YOU ALL THE INFORMATION IN THE WORLD. I CANT READ MINDS. I CANT HACK PEOPLE'S BRAINS. THE ONLY WAY ILL BE ABLE TO KNOW THAT THEY KNOW IS BY ASKING THEM QUESTIONS!!!!!!!
...look. the difference between me and you is that i am confined to the boundaries of the narrative. i have stakes in the game. my actions have consequences. and i cant take more risks when im already flying too close to the sun. especially when there's already eyes on me.
but you? youre outside the narrative. you dont have stakes. you dont have consequences. you ask the wrong questions? sure, they'll start getting a little cagey, but they cant actually do anything to you. you can always pretend to be a different anon. change up the typing style and none of us will be able to tell the difference.
which one of us is more suited for the task? me? or you?

**(Note: Prismatic Luminosity is an AU of Pokémon Ultra Sun.)**
-0-0-0-
CHARACTER TIDBITS 1 - Lillie Aether
Lillie Aether is the daughter of Lusamine Aether. At the age of five, Lillie lost her father, Mohn, in a tragic science experiment that stole him away to parts unknown.
Tumblr media
The years following this tragedy were seeped in conflict between the remaining members of the Aether family. Lusamine, having lost her husband, refused to let her children go anywhere or do anything without her supervision. This got to the point where Gladion, then eleven years old- The (Usually) minimum age one could be to partake in Alola's island trials- And frustrated with Lusamine's overprotective nature and the inner workings of her organization, took something important from the Aether Foundation, fled home, and cut all ties with his family.
Two years later, Lillie also turned eleven. Scared for the safety of a newborn pokémon brought in by her mother's associates, Lillie kidnapped it. Following her brother's example, she then ran away from home.
When introduced in Prismatic Luminosity, this girl is already a trainer. Her team consists of a colorful cotton ball-like pokémon nobody's seen before nicknamed Nebby, and a timid grass-type who was a birthday present from another of her mother's associates. Lillie and company can often be found exploring their new world.
Tumblr media
Being a curious pokémon with a hatred of bags (Especially Lillie's), Nebby has a habit of disappearing and getting into trouble. Lillie and her other pokémon also tend to find conflict when looking for it, which could mean everyone's in peril.
It's been a month since they came Melemele Island. With their track record, it's a miracle they've survived this long.
Tumblr media
There's a boy that's often tagged along on Lillie's adventures. Or he somehow stumbles upon them. Lillie admired his ability to remain positive when things got tough!
As the weeks went by, however, she got the sense that he...
That boy and his grandfather? They have ties to local Tapu.
She unfortunately hasn't had luck securing a meeting through them.
Tumblr media
That's... Fine. Neither he or the Kahuna are... Important in the grand scheme of things. When the time came, she would be ready to take on the world herself.
Except Nebby won't take anything Lillie says seriously. Maybe if it heard what she needed it to hear from the Tapu...?
Tumblr media
It's time that they climbed the Mahalo Trail and visited the Tapu's shrine. Tapu Koko has to agree to meet with Lillie and her pokémon. Surely it knows what Alola's future holds...

☕ Your opinion on the Alolan Island Challenge?
It seems really cool. My cousins went on it when I was younger I liked seeing the totem pokemon especially the totem Wishiwashi. I kinda want to do it myself one day. But of course you need the Kahana's permission to do so. My cousins were lucky because Tapu Koko saw promise in them and gave them both z Chrystals. It was awesome. I just wish I could be just as brave and heroic as they are.

Leila? Honey, you okay?
Fine, just... it's nothing Bera. I'm probably just... worried for no reason.
Lei c'mon, I can see somethin's buggin' ya. Is it about Hapu's doctor appointment?
... Kind of. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the doctor said she didn't seem to have any hearing problems, but that just--it just means that she's actually hearing voices of-... something.
... Do ya know what? 'Cause you're actin' like ya know but don't like where it's goin'.
Well it's not--I think I know, but I don't know every-
... Let me start from the beginning. There were things that my father didn't really... explain to me, about being Kahuna. Obviously he told me the political duties, about the Grand Trials-
Yeah, you went through one an' said he didn't go easy on ya.
He didn't. But there were... other things, from the Tapus, and those I learned more from speaking with Mr. Hala, Mr. Nanu and Miss Olivia than I learned from him.
Aaaan' what's that got ta do with Hapu?
Well it's hard to-
Bera, do people in Sinnoh have those who speak with Pokemon?
Oh, Spoken? Yeah, they're not very common, think one in... three thousand? Could be more.
... Wait, is she-? But my family doesn't have a history of--does yours-?
No, we don't. But that's why I think this is a... Boon, you could call it, from Tapu Fini. Mister Hala, for instance, can talk to the Pichu on Melemele. They help him know about news on the island before most others.
... Wait, but Hala's a Fighting-type Kahuna, so why can he speak with Pichu? That's-
Bera--Bera, Tapu Koko is an Electric type. And their boon grants Hala the ability to speak with other Electric types. And likewise with Hapu and Tapu Fini.
I don't think the voices she's been hearing are coming from nowhere; especially since she said there were Pokemon when she was walking around.
So if Tapu Fini is... So wait, does that mean when she was around Poni Coast, Hapu was hearing-?
I think so, but... I don't know how much of this my father told her. Whether or not she knows about this Boon, if that is what this is.
But she's been Kahuna for two years, why is it only happening now?
I don't know. Like I said, my father didn't talk much about it; I know he seemed to understand his Gastrodon, but he wasn't very public with it or talking with other Pokemon. I'll try to talk to Mr. Hala, maybe even Mr. Nanu; I don't know if he has the Boon like Hala but he talked with my father frequently before he passed away, maybe he was told something.
Yeah. But we need to talk to Hapu about this.
But-!
Leila, if this is somethin' from Tapu Fini then Hapu needs to know that. More importantly, we need to talk to her bout how to... address this. When I was talkin' wit Yakon recently--after Hapu first reached out to him not that long ago--he talked about how someone... I ain't repeatin' his words, but an absolutely horrible person, manipulated a Spoken an' nearly used their ability to talk with Pokemon to take over Unova.
I don't want that happenin' to Hapu, an' I know ya don't either. So we need to talk to her bout this.
I-... yeah. Yeah you're right. I... I want to talk to Hala about this first though. Maybe Nanu.
Awright. But soon as you get somethin' from them, we have to talk to her. Okay?
Okay.

find ree... 🗡️ after getting stabbed
Tumblr media

Guzma rushed in as soon as Dosh gave him the news. A camera started working a little too late. A message recieved with enough delay to make the massacre inevitable. The Skull boss usually hated showing any hint of emotions that went beyond anger, but as he ran towards that small, abandoned house - one that even the other grunts avoid, thinking it was haunted, he couldn't help but keep in the pure terror.
Some other Skulls follow him as soon as he mentions Ree being in trouble, uncaring of his remarks. You don't see the Big Bad Boss panic every day, after all.
He almost stumbles when he arrives at the house. Stops, for a moment - and with him, his own heart seems to halt as he notices the blood outside it. Hears sobbing inside. Heavy breathing, a request to please remain conscious.
Look at me, says Dosh from inside the dark building.
And Guzma... can't move. He's still, the hand clinging on the doorframe grasping at it as if his life depended on it, every single breathe burn his lungs, every single hint of a movement like thousand needles.
Tumblr media
Not again, he thinks to himself -- some grunts dare to surpass him; he sees PJ, especially, sneak under his arm, reach the admin's side. Sobs, calling out for Ree, just to be held back from shaking them. Not another one -- he blinks, his eyes adjusting to the darkness just as a thunder finally lights up the room. A rare occurrence, as if Tapu Bulu themselves felt pity and wanted him to see the consequences of his stupidity. Or, maybe. The god is mocking him. Them.
He couldn't care less. He couldn't even swear his revenge, get angry, punch the wall. He just feels... numb.
Hesitant steps make his presence known. Dosh'Te turns to him, his voice terrified, shaky, yet determined as he tells him that Ree is still alive... but for how long? The house reeks of blood. A foot ends up pressed in a pool of that red liquid, tainting first his shoes, then his pants as he falls on one knee. A shaky finger moves to the young grunt's throat, looking for a pulse - finding it slow, uncertain, as if it threatened to stop at any second.
Some other Skulls ask him what to do. He feels someone touching him on both sides - Dosh'Te leans on him, holding on his shirt, and PJ, on the other, hides his face against his boss, his sob getting louder. Another thunder makes him notice a few bandages on Ree - a hastly solution, likely the hacker's doing to stop them from bleeding to death -, and just then the Boss blinks, forcing himself to take a deep breath.
Be strong for them.
He asks who has a phone ready. To call the hospital, for someone to reach for Nanu for assistance. He manages to keep his voice firm despite everything, and yet his movements are mechanical, forced. He doesn't stand, letting the more level-headed grunts, those who didn't fully see the results of that massacre, take care of the phone calls. Dosh'Te's grip tightens as he stays down, taking just the time to remove his jacket and use it as an improvized blanket for Ree. They move, groan. Sob.
"Shh, shh. You're... you're gonna be okay, kid."
It's not.
"You're gonna be fine. You're--
Tumblr media
You have to be fine."
it's all his fault.

✒️ the muse's canon📝 the muse's fanon📖 a popular headcanon regarding my muse
send an emoji and i'll tell you my opinion on...
✒️ the muse's canon
Honestly, not much to say about Koko's cannon. I do love the lore with the Tapu and Alola in general. The way it makes you think of the true nature of these ancient guardians. How much of the legends are true and how much has time changed them.
All of these things really make you think about not only the Tapu true nature compared to what you heard from them but also maybe your own nature and how time and experience have changed you.
📝 the muse's fanon
There's not too much fanon surrounding my muse other than the fact he was a meta-defining threat in competitive.
Though, I did see many Tapu Koko RPers, each with their own interpretation on Koko. Each of them had a wide variety of interpretations and headcanons but despite that they all resemble Koko.
I was the only one who made Koko a muscle head though.
📖 a popular headcanon regarding my muse
Uh, I'm not actually sure about a popular headcannon with Koko especially when everyone is so different. I guess I can talk about Koko's relationship with Hala and Hau since that something that can be contentious.
While Koko being aloof but caring about them is probably the closest to canon. However, for fanon, it can vary between them being a loving family to Koko being abusive to them. I think the later is probably a bit too far from cannon for my liking.

Icy Getaway
cw: fluff, reader isn't alolan, short
pairing: Nanu/Reader
You peered outside the closed blinds of the Po Town police station to see the tropical beauty that all of the Alola region held. It was a place that attracted many to it for its peaceful ambience and natural state that seemed impossible to interrupt. Yet, somehow… You felt sad. The snow had apparently been heavy in many other places this winter, yet nothing was happening on Ula'Ula unless you gathered up the gumption to climb a mountain.
Stepping away, you turned your head to the couch where Nanu laid, boredly watching television. A Meowth laid curled up next to him, napping away. You let out a sigh. Alola was a lovely place, and you could not imagine living anywhere else. Especially not when Nanu could not really leave the islands as an active Kahuna. Granted, he did skimp on his duties whenever he could, but it was clear he still took some respect in being chosen by Tapu Bulu.
“… You've been watching outside the window,” Nanu spoke and let out a yawn, “Waiting on something?” He sat up to get a better look at you. The Meowth was slightly perturbed by this, yet just readjusted its position to remain comfortable.
“I miss snow…” you mumbled out while looking at the television. It was some trashy crime show set in Unova. Snow littered the streets there, as it always did. Nanu scratched his head.
“There's not really a lot of that here, no,” he shook his head and reached a hand down to pet the Meowth. A loud purr reverberated throughout the room. “… You feeling homesick? I understand,” Nanu continued, “I used to get homesick for Alola when I worked as an international agent.” You almost forgot he was not always an old man who lived with a bunch of cats. Nanu did not like to speak much about his time with the International Police, but you gathered he was quite busy and renowned. (Especially when Looker appeared to gush at him as his former underling.)
“… I'm not sure if it's that…” you wondered if it was as you sat down to join him on the couch. “I guess I was just thinking about how funny it would be to see you in the snow…” Nanu definitely did not seem like he would survive the cold, but there was something cute about the thought of him bundled up, enjoying a hot coffee while watching the weather come down. Nanu cocked a brow up at you as he reached to wrap an arm around your shoulders.
“Well, it seems you figured out another reason I rejected being an Elite Four member,” he sighed, “I had to do a mission in Sinnoh once, and I thought I was going to freeze to death.” You laughed. This was nearly impossible to imagine. What could he have possible been doing there? You could not recall any incidents of note in Sinnoh. “I was glad when I retired back to Alola,” he grinned lightly, “Should've expected to be chosen to be a Kahuna, though. No rest for the weary.”
You leaned your head on his shoulder and stared at the television again. The show apparently had its suspect. Some masked jewel thief who looked strikingly familiar. “… Hmm…” you thought about it, “Do you think you could leave for a while if I did go back to my home region?” Nanu hummed.
“Probably not,” he replied, “I mean, I might be able to if I could get one of the other Kahuna to cover for me, but Tapu Bulu might not accept it. I'd have to ask them both.” You deflated. Of course that was the case. Your sudden upset made Nanu shake his head. His hand came to massage your scalp. “I'll still ask,” he shifted his gaze to you, “It'd be nice to actually get a break from my responsibilities.”
You kept a hopeful, but realistic front towards what would likely happen.
~
The snow lightly piled on the ground as you stepped outside. Nanu grumbled as he followed you. He really was not expected Hala to agree alongside Tapu Bulu. Both almost seemed to encourage him to spend some precious time with you. The flutters of ice crystals sent chills down his spine. He hoped that punk would actually take care of his Meowths while he was away. Acerola had been asked to check in on them, too.
Your hand grasped his and sunk a certain warmth into his as you both felt an urge to just walk through the snow-covered land. He kept to your side, still feeling cold despite his many layers of clothing that he had piled on. This was certainly almost the polar opposite of Alola. As much as he wanted (and would) complain, he felt happy to see you smile so brightly. Plus, he really could not deny how nice it was to get away from his duties for a while.
The trek ended soon after as you both headed back inside. His Persian mrowed at him after returning. You took a seat down near her on the couch while he grabbed a hot coffee to drink and warm himself up. Nanu eventually joined you for some awkward cuddling. Your happiness was contagious, he swore. He pressed a quick kiss on your temple before taking a drink. A laugh left you as you imitated him.
“… If I die here, make sure my remains make it back to Alola,” he sighed.
“What? Do you want the Meowths to get your body?”
“Sure, sounds nice.”
Your laughter made him chuckle a little.
(He was surprised by how many people missed him upon his return with to Alola.)

Pokemon Card of the Day #2739: Solgaleo Prism Star (Ultra Prism)
Tumblr media
Solgaleo Prism Star’s goal was to accelerate Energy. Doing this with an attack instead of an Ability wasn’t ideal. It may have been able to make up for that by how much acceleration it could provide: When facing one of those decks that wanted to fill up its Bench, getting 5 or 6 Energy in there at once was very much possible if you could dump enough Metal Energy in the discard pile beforehand. There were, of course, some match-ups where it wasn’t so useful due to that reliance on the opponent, and you did have to draw reasonably well to make the best use of it. The chance at that many Energy at once was potentially worth it if running Metal-types anyway.
160 HP was very good for a Basic Pokemon, and was what you wanted from a Prism Star. The Fire Weakness did cause some issues against the Blacephalon cards and Volcanion, though others like Reshiram & Charizard-GX could still reach that number already. The Psychic Resistance could help if you saw Garbodor or even in some cases against Malamar or Mewtwo & Mew-GX decks. The Retreat Cost was high at 3, so having something like a Float Stone, Switch, or Acerola was a very good idea.
Radiant Star needed a Metal Energy and a cooperative opponent. It let you attach a Metal Energy card from your discard pile to your Pokemon for each of the opponent’s Pokemon in play, and you could place them however you wanted. A deck using this would want a lot of discarding options, such as Professor Sycamore and Ultra Ball, and in BKT-On Professor’s Letter could help make sure Energy was found to discard. The popularity of Pokemon like Dedenne-GX, Tapu Lele-GX, Octillery and the like certainly made it more likely that you’d get a bunch of Energy from this. There were times where you’d run into something like Reshiram & Charizard-GX or Gardevoir & Sylveon-GX that didn’t really need the Bench slots, but most of the time you’d get at least a solid chunk of Energy here.
Corona Impact could let Solgaleo Prism Star get off a big hit. 4 Metal Energy was a bit high as a cost, especially on a Pokemon with 1 copy per deck that couldn’t be in the discard pile, but 160 damage was really good. You’d still likely want to let something like Dusk Mane Necrozma-GX or something do the attacking, especially because you couldn’t attack with Solgaleo Prism Star again during your next turn.
Solgaleo Prism Star was quite useful in Metal decks, especially the earlier ones where the type was filled with a mix of decent but not great Pokemon where you were picking between somewhat awkward forms of Energy acceleration. This one used an attack and was limited to 1 per deck, and yet having so much Energy come into play at once could be game-changing. This was one of the better Prism Star Pokemon for the type. It didn’t get into many Zacian V decks later, however, with Metal Saucer and Energy Switch, along with turn 1 Intrepid Sword, typically being enough to keep those extremely powerful Pokemon going. Oddly, it also had some minor use for its bulk alone, being seen every once in a while as a single Prize Pokemon with high HP alongside Regigigas and Hoopa when trying to stall. The result was a pretty good card, and one that fit more into lower to mid-tier decks than the top ones.
