Could you recommend me some enemies to lovers? I love this trope! Thanks for your work ^^
Here's quite a few suggestions, I forgot how much I love this trope. ~Jen
True Like (or Looks Can Be Deceiving) by dualwielding
Kurt loves his job at the off-Broadway theater. As for Blaine Anderson, Kurt might have to work with him, but he doesn't have to like him.
~~~~~
Feel my heart's intention by @kurtsascot
Blaine started to hate Kurt on his first day. And it was a shame, really, because they could have been cute together.
~~~~~
Clinging to this hating game by notarelationship (justpracticing)
Based on this prompt from the Klaine-prompt-a-fic blog on tumblr:
Kurt and Blaine couldn't stand each other in high school, maybe one was a jock/cheerleader and the other a nerd/glee clubber. Or they were bitter rivals for competition solos if they were both in glee club. Now they both live in NY and their friends set them up on a blind date, not knowing they went to the same high school.
~~~~~
Home away from Home by @lilyvandersteen
Cooper buys a hotel sight unseen and asks Blaine to run it for him over the summer. Only, the hotel is a health and safety hazard and Inspectors Hummel and Abrams are hell-bent on closing it down. Can Blaine spruce the hotel up in time and save Cooper's investment?
~~~~~
Make Food and War by @kirakiwiwrites
What if Blaine and Kurt met another way? AU Meetings with the theme of: Food. We all know how our boys met on the show. For this creative challenge, let's play with how the boys might have met in alternate universes. And this time, use the topic of food to be the through line of your creations.
~~~~~
Living Haphazard By @shame-is-a-wasted-emotion Anna_Timberlake
Have you ever thought of getting cheated by a house broker and getting to know that you had to stay with another stranger who was also cheated? What if you are getting stuck up with the stranger in the apartment due to unavoidable circumstances? What if you hate him as well as have a crush on him? What if you had to fight your inner self and the stranger? What if he agreed on helping you which can only happen in dreams? This is a real living haphazard, isn't it?
~~~~~
The Hating Game by orphan_account
Blaine can count on one hand the amount of people he has hated in his life. But Kurt Hummel is definitely The Worst.
Or: That co-workers AU where they hate each other (until they don't)
~~~~~
Anyway, Here's wonderwall by @honeysucklepink
Inspired by the story of the Oasis cover band and pub goers who got stranded at a pub in a snow storm.
Adam Crawford is the proprietor of a tavern and music venue in the English countryside. Just before Christmas, he hosts a Battle of the Bands, unaware of a forecasted winter storm. A blizzard traps the patrons, the final bands standing, One Three Hill and The Warblers, and their bickering leaders, Kurt and Blaine. The two have been rivals since their NYADA days, but their friends and bandmates can smell the unresolved sexual tension a mile away. If circumstances had been different, so too would their relationship. So their friends decide to give fate a little nudge...
~~~~~
About-Face By @quizasvivamos
At the start of the Marching Band season his sophomore year, Blaine is the youngest Drum Major in McKinley High history. However, none of his peers believe he deserves the title, especially a handful of embittered upperclassmen, including one particularly stubborn Color Guard Captain, who challenges him in more ways than one.
~~~~~
Mendacious By @forabeatofadrum maanorchidee
Blaine Anderson is McKinley’s biggest star. Everyone in school loves him. And he’s gay. Blaine Anderson has what Kurt Hummel wants. When Kurt finds out that Blaine’s hoping for the same scholarship at the prestigious NYADA, Kurt knows for sure that he deserves it more, but no one seems to agree. There has to be something wrong with Blaine. If Kurt could expose that, it’ll all be over for him. With a scholarship at stake, Kurt’s willing to go very far to find some dirt on everyone’s favourite student.
~~~~~
Turn Into a Pose by @little-escapist
Singer-songwriter Blaine Anderson wants to come out of the closet. When his publicist sets him up with movie-star Kurt Hummel, he’s ready for anything, but the last thing that Kurt wants is a relationship with anyone, let alone Blaine. He hates his publicist for setting him up, hates the idea of lying to the world, and hates letting the world invade his personal life. But maybe Blaine Anderson is exactly what Kurt Hummel needs.

French fries and Milkshakes by BlurglesmurfKlaine
Cheerio!Kurt and Nerd!Blaine don't exactly get along. So what happens when they get paired for a glee club assignment? They're polar opposites. They're voices shouldn't work together, neither should their personalities. Or their chemistry, for that matter. They're two very different things that shouldn't blend together, but do. Kind of like French Fries and Milkshakes.
~~~~~
Bites by foxxed
Kurt Hummel is a Chef de Cuisine with a tongue as sharp as his knife. But when the restaurant across the street finally opens, Kurt is confronted with an old culinary school rival - the always smiling and opera-singing Italian Chef Blaine Anderson and things are about to heat up faster than the average stove.
Hi, I really love all your klaine fic! I would love to read something for 22 …in a rush of adrenaline.
Thank you! Sorry this took so long. For anyone else waiting, I am still working through them :)
22. in a rush of adrenaline
from the kiss list / see the rest
Notes: Inspired by this post about how Kurt and Blaine definitely made out after their performance at regionals and @snarkyhag's tag about Blaine's hair. Let's just pretend that Candles was better than it is :P
~~~~~~~~~
Blaine is practically vibrating. The roar of the crowd is still echoing in his ears as the Warblers spill out backstage to go back to their dressing room. His heart is hammering so violently against his ribs that he thinks it must somehow be audible. Performing is always a rush but competition performances just have that extra layer of anticipation and excitement. But they'd nailed it. He really thinks they've done enough to win.
"Blaine." Blaine turns. It's Kurt, hanging back from the others. He looks exactly how Blaine feels with his flushed cheeks and slightly shell shocked expression. They catch eyes for a moment and just grin stupidly at each other. They sang together in front of hundreds of people. As boyfriends. Blaine has the vague thought that maybe they should have spent a little more time actually practising rather than snatching moments alone to kiss. But too late for regrets. And he has none anyway.
"We blew the competition away," Kurt chirps. "God. Did you see us out there? We were…" He makes an expansive gesture. Blaine knows exactly what he means. They were so in tune with each other it was like their hearts were in harmony. Perhaps, in a way, they were.
"You blew them away," Blaine murmurs, closing the gap between them. "Because you're incredible and talented and y'know, maybe I'm biased but, pretty easy on the eyes too."
Kurt splutters out a surprised laugh, his hand going to cover this mouth. It's an amazing sound and Kurt is beautiful and Blaine is full of adrenaline and before he can really think about it, he grabs Kurt's other hand and tugs him sideways into an empty dressing room.
He opens his mouth, perhaps to ask before he just fully pounces on his gorgeous boyfriend, but Kurt clearly has no such reservations. He wraps his hand around Blaine's tie and hauls him into a kiss. It sends a surprising spike of arousal straight to Blaine's belly and sends him surging unreservedly into Kurt's arms.
He can't deny how much he likes Kurt taking charge of the situation. The way Kurt's free hand goes to his jaw to guide him in. The way he claims Blaine's bottom lip between his own. The way he steps them back to crowd Blaine up against the closed door. Blaine practically melts against it, making a soft, urgent noise against Kurt's mouth. He grabs Kurt's lapels to pull him even closer until Kurt is warm and solid against him, caging him in with his body.
"Fuck," Kurt pants out, barely more than a breath. It's wild to hear Kurt curse at all, but especially in that voice, a low breathless rumble. Blaine fully understands the sentiment. Being pressed together like this is new. And it's wonderful.
He claims Kurt's mouth again. All the making out they've done so far has been very sweet and gentle. Soft exploration as they learned each other's mouths. There's nothing tentative about them now. It's open mouthed from the start and hot and messy and incredible.
Kurt's hand finds his hair and has to fight the gel, tugging more firmly than he probably means to. It's like a literal shock, sending the simmering arousal into an irresistible jolt of heat that surprises Blaine into a throaty groan. Kurt echoes the sound, a quiet moan that makes Blaine's bones feel like molten lava.
He hooks an arm around Kurt's neck to keep Kurt's mouth where he wants it. As if Kurt is going anywhere. As if Kurt seems to have anything on his mind except these slow, deep, toe curling kisses and the careful inching of his fingers through Blaine's stubborn hair.
Blaine feels like he's on fire. His lips become more demanding. His mouth opening hungrily to Kurt's. His hands turn restless, resisting the urge to try and literally tear Kurt out of his blazer. That requires a little more time and patience than an adrenaline fuelled fumble in a dressing room.
He could almost laugh in disbelief of it all. That he gets to be with Kurt like this when he had almost messed up his chance with him so completely. But then Kurt practically caresses his tongue with his own and the laugh turns into something close to a whimper. Kurt tugs at his hair again, more confidently with the weight of Blaine's prior reaction. Blaine's head tips back automatically and Kurt's mouth lands on his exposed throat, warm and tender.
It's so new. So sudden. Blaine gasps and jerks. He might have hit his head on the door if Kurt's hand wasn't still cradling him. Blaine drags in a shaky breath and his lungs are full of Kurt's familiar scents. Hairspray and shampoo. Suddenly the most arousing smell in the world. God. He's got a problem and it just gets more urgent when Kurt presses in more firmly to trail the kisses down to Blaine's collar.
"Kurt," Blaine murmurs. He shifts, trying not to grind directly onto Kurt and spook him. Everything in him wants to just get Kurt's thigh between his legs. But, fuck, now is not the time. "Please."
"God. Sorry." Kurt jerks back, looking suddenly mortified. Which is the last thing Blaine wants. "Was that too much? I got swept up in the moment and-"
Blaine silences him with a quick kiss, softer than before. "Don't apologise. That was…" He swallows. "Really good. I just need a second."
He sees the way Kurt realises. The way his embarrassment melts into something mischievous and coy. "You liked that?" The way his voice is still raw from kissing as he says this really isn't helping Blaine's problem.
"You're literally the sexiest person I've ever seen. I like when you do anything. But especially when you press me up against doors and kiss my face off, yes."
Kurt laughs, quiet and pleased. Blaine wants to kiss him again. He never wants to stop kissing him.
"We should get back," Kurt says. "I want to see my friends perform."
"Of course," Blaine says. Watching his direct competition with an erection. Perfect. Amazing.
Kurt laughs again and Blaine meets his eye, raising a quizzical eyebrow. "Your hair's a mess," Kurt confesses, reaching out to tidy it for him, smoothing the remaining gel back through.
Blaine sighs. "It's going to be so obvious what we've been up to."
"Yeah." Kurt smiles tentatively, twining their fingers together. "Worth it, though?"
Blaine can already hear Jeff's teasing comments in his head. But he doesn't even hesitate. "Completely worth it."

iirc glee had a billy joel episode, or at least did several covers of his songs. do you have an opinion on that?
I've seen the episode, which is called Movin' Out, at least four times. I've also seen all the covers in other episodes. This took forever to answer because I decided to go back and watch some of these to refresh to my memory.
I appreciate that they did it. It was nice to see him get the recognition. Mr. Schue using him for the lesson was a fun idea, I wish the writers knew a bit more about him though because there were missed opportunities! I could have done it better. My overall opinion is that's underwhelming. I want it to be better than it is.
The covers themselves are......... mostly not good. The first time they did Piano Man, when Mr. Schue sang it with Neil Patrick Harris, it was diegetic, the two of them singing it together in a bar, so they were able to do the cut by just having them not finish the song, which was really good. I thought that one worked pretty well!
Puck's Only the Good Die Young is... fine. It's not great but it's fine. It's fit in the episode is a little tenuous but whatever. I enjoy the line about only doing songs by Jewish artists that precedes the cover. There are worse covers in that episode.
The Warblers doing Uptown Girl was good! It would have been even better if Glee could resist the urge to Glee it up so much and it sounded more like a boys' a cappella group would in real life but it was really close to that and it was fun.
New York State of Mind is a mixed bag. They did really well in some parts and not as well in others. Marley held her own but Rachel definitely did better. I wonder if Rachel's at least was an homage to Barbra Streissand's cover, but it's not too on-the-nose obvious if it is. Rachel singing New York State of Mind as a new student at NYADA is hilarious on a Watsonian level, like it would be such a cliche, but I think on a Doylist level it's an excellent choice. You know, it's a jukebox musical, she's excited to be in New York where she's been desperately working to get for the whole show up to this point. It's a good choice. I'm not convinced Lea Michelle and Melissa Benoist couldn't have hit some of the notes that get sidestepped, I think it was just the arrangement, but what do I know.
The Longest Time was okay. I think it would have been better if, again, it didn't Glee it up so much, but it's a much bigger problem here than with Uptown Girl. It's an "unplugged" song during a power outage and I wish they let it sound more like that! Let it be more acoustic and rougher sounding! It's supposed to be like that anyway. Good use of that song but just a failure to execute. I also can't stand the Glee style of dancing, especially by that point in the show, and I feel like it doesn't fit which makes me like it even less, but I'm trying to judge this more on the use of the songs and not inherent Glee problems.
My biggest complaint about the covers in Movin' Out is the cuts are just so bad. I know they had to cut them for time but they could have done it better! It's really jarring! The actual singing is also pretty meh. I like some more than others but I don't love any of them.
I have a certain fondness for Ryder's An Innocent Man. It's musically just okay but I enjoy how it's used. I don't think he really gets those notes though. 75-year-old Billy Joel is like "pray for me to hit the high note" and then kills it every time. That kid could do better.
I hate the use of Honesty, it's so weird, and I also don't like the cover. Sorry Artie.
I don't love the cover of Just the Way You Are but also it's Just the Way You Are. What can I say. Not the worst use of it in the plot though.
I hate the cover of Movin' Out. I don't really enjoy the montage thing either but it's fine I guess. It's weird because I would think Darren Criss would be able to do Billy Joel but I don't like any of his parts in this episode.
Jake singing My Life while also asking Marley for a second chance is kind of funny. I also remember that one being meh to fine.
It's hilarious that Blaine says "sing along if you know it" about Piano Man to a crowd in a piano restaurant in New York City. That place probably needs a "no Piano Man" sign like the sign in the guitar store in Wayne's World. Also as a side note if they could have gotten a Billy Joel cameo that would be the scene to do it; he should have been like "no not this song again" and stormed out. OR they could have had him correct Blaine because the sheet music is wrong (in real life that was with Just the Way You Are but creative license is allowed).
Ending on You May Be Right was a solid choice but I hate their version of it. It's terrible.
The choice of songs is... fine? I could probably make a better track list for a Billy Joel episode if you gave me some time, but they picked a decent mix of hits I guess, especially considering which ones they'd already used (of course they repeated Piano Man. of course.) I would like to see Blaine try Summer, Highland Falls, I think. Ultimately I think the biggest problem with Movin' Out is that Glee had declined so much by season 5. A Billy Joel episode in season 2 or 3 would probably have been better. There was just more care put into the music back then.
By the way, Billy Joel gave permission for Glee to use his songs but said he'd never seen the show because he only watches the History Channel.

Prompt day 10: Angst
This is a small moment that happened just after Moby survived a mer hunter attack, he's extremely hurt and exhausted. Yami and Gin rescued him and brought him to their crater to recuperate, they already patched him up, but the poor guy keeps having nightmares and can't rest properly, so Yami came to comfort him while Gin takes care of the mer kids.
Prompts list by @intistone
Tw: Blood
Prompt and small drabble under the cut.
A long night with a whale and a salad.
On the middle of the ocean, there's a small pack of whale mers swimming, the youngest one, a 5 years old male sperm whale mer, is swimming close to its mom, making happy warbles for his mom while the bigger blue whale mer is chuckling at her adorable baby nuzzling him. "Stay close, okay sweetie?"
The baby mer nods bapping at his mom while swimming around him. His mom smiles watching him before a stir starts on the pack and she immediately perks up, trying to understand what's happening. "Father, what's wrong?" She looks at the oldest whale mer on the pack holding her kid close, who's confused about what's happening.
The older sperm whale mer immediately answered: "Human hunters! Stay together everyone!" The pack of whale 5 mers enter on a defensive position around to the mer who has a kid. The blue whale mer immediately perks up in surprise growling defensively to the ships moving over to them.
She looks down to her kid, feeling dread for some motive, before quickly hiding him in a submerged cave, saying in a fully worried voice. "Stay here sweetie, don't come out till I come to get you."
The kid warblers worried, hesitantly nodding for the blue whale mer. The big female mer immediately swims over to join the group while her kid is hiding, ready to help out in protecting the group. The baby sperm whale mer hides deeper in the cave, starting to wait for his mom.
He waits… and waits… and waits… after several hours, the mer slowly perks out wondering what is taking his mom so long…. He never regretted something more than he regretted it. He regrets that moment more than anything. Especially after seeing his mother… with no glow on her eyes and red everywhere in the water.
The sperm whale mer, who now is a 20 years old young adult, jolts awake, hissing in pain before looking around him in a frenetic movement… He is in a covered area, in the island he was brought to after finding him hurt in an isolated shore, the black sperm whale mer sighs in relief, black bags under his eyes, before hearing another voice.
"Another nightmare?" The sperm whale mer snaps his head in the direction of the soft feminine voice, seeing one of the… kelp creatures that brought him here, kelpies they called themselves, the female kelpie walking over to him with an empty mug of a hot drink… cappuccino, that was how the kelpies called it right?
He looks at the female kelp creature for some seconds before hesitantly nodding to her question. "....Yes…"
The kelp creature nods in understanding, putting down her mug on the nearby beach table, moving closer to him. "I came to check on you."
The massive mer slowly looks at the kelp creature, before looking at the strange white patches on his body, the female kelp creature called it bandages, she said it would help him to heal his wounds. "..... It hurts…"
The female humanoid salad looks at the bandages before sighing, looking back at him. "I know they hurt… but it will get better." Moves even close to him, signing for him to lay down.
The sperm whale mer tilts his head in confusion, not understanding her signal and he just looks at her, confusion in his eyes, before he understands she wants him to lay down to rest. The mer complies after the realization hits, laying down in a comfortable position before looking over at Yami, he hesitates before asking her. "Do you promise? Do you promise they will get better?" The kelp creatures didn't hurted him and treated him well during the days he's here, but he still isn't 100% sure he can trust them…
The female sea monster nods, before answering: "Of course I promise…" She slowly lifts her hand, making the mer tense a bit, before she gently starts to pet his horn and head, being careful not to touch his bandages, a sad expression for seeing such a creature so hurt.
The mer tenses more, confused about what she's doing… It's weird but not in a bad way, it's actually…. nice and comforting to be touched like this, he doesn't know what she's doing, but she isn't going to complain about a nice and gentle touch, the mer leans against her hand unconsciously.
The kelp lady blinks a little surprised, smiling softly for him and she keeps petting him, wanting to comfort the poor mer. ".... Mind if I stay here with you?"
The mer looks at her, very surprised before starting to think about her offer… if she stays here it means more of these nice touches… He nods a bit, trying not to show that he likes her staying close to him.
The kelp woman smiles, before taking out a beach blanket to sit on, resuming her petting. The mer is still a bit confused about her action, before it clicks that she didn't meant to stay just for a while, but indeed for a long while, not like he's complaining.
He thinks for a while, before asking in a soft and sleepy voice, leaning more into her touch. ".... What 's your name?" He opens his eyes looking at the female kelpie with bright violet eyes.
She perks up, looking at him surprised, she could swear she said her name to him, but she answers him nonetheless. "My name is Yamitsuki or just Yami, and you?" Keeps petting his head.
He makes a soft rumbling hum. "Yami huh?..." He thinks about his name, he doesn't even remember his name, it's been so long since he last heard it… "....I don't have a name."
Yami blinks surprised and looks at him…. "Oh.. I see…" She thinks for a while, before looking deeply in his eyes. "..... Mind if I give you one?" She pets his horn gently, waiting for his answer.
The massive whale mer's eyes widened in shock. She wants to give a name to him? The cogs are turning in his mind for some moments. He snaps out his shock, before nodding a bit, still laying down. "..... I would like that…"
The tall female kelpie smiles, her violet eyes shining, before she observes him for a while to think of a good name for him… She has a good idea of a name and smiles. "What about… Mobydick? or just Moby for short?"
The mer thinks, checking how to say his name. "Mobydick… I like this name." His eyes have a glow of happiness.
Yami smiles at him, proud of his new name. "So your name is Mobydick, I hope you like it." She resumes petting the massive mer, sitting on her haunches while humming a soothing and calm song.
The mer unconsciously leans against the kelp lady, his eyes becoming heavy, he likes her singing… It makes him remember his mother, when she sang for him to sleep every night. The mer slowly falls asleep being petted by the kelp lady, his green eyes closing while he enjoys her voice.
Yami blinks softly, surprised by how easy he fell asleep, before smiling, her eyes becoming even more softer. MEET STONER BRETT BUKOWSKI !!
auditioning with the song: busters get popped a stoner brett original
Busters get popped, busters get popped. Got my mind on my money, money on my mind. Sippin' on a 40 while I'm pushin' on the grind. Feel the pain, the game. Yeah, Lil' Wayne. Lil' Wayne.
BIOGRAPHY & HEADCANONS
wait, is that STONER BRETT BUKOWSKI? they kinda look a lot like CALEB LANDRY JONES, don’t they? i heard the TWENTY-TWO year old is known as the CONNECT around mckinley. it seems like they auditioned to be in the NEW DIRECTIONS, DULY NOTED, JUNIOR VARSITY, AND EVEN THE TROUBLETONES AND THE WARBLERS which is so lame? especially because they weren't accepted because they're tone-deaf/not a freshman/not a girl/don't even attend Dalton. people at campus have said they’re EASY GOING, but don’t be fooled since they’re also FORGETFUL. rumor has it, you can find them at DIGITAL MEDIA CLUB, PAINTING CLUB, PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB, INTERNATIONAL CLUB, OR WORKING ON THE MUCKRACKER when they aren’t belting showtunes using or selling drugs. their entire vibe revolves around RED EYES AND BIG SMILES, WORN OUT BEANIES AND THREADBARE JACKETS, AND THE SMELL OF SMOKE AND HOMELESSNESS but no one pays attention to that here in ohio.
LIST ABOUT 3+ HEADCANONS ABOUT YOUR CHOSEN CHARACTER!
Brett is one of the oldest juniors on campus because he got held back his senior year of high school. He almost got held back twice, but all the teachers decided to give him a barely passing grade so he can slip by rather than have him in their classes again.
Most of the time, Brett is on something. He only smoked weed in high-school, but he has tried just about everything since going to college. He likes to be able to know what he's selling. The past year he's slowed down though, in part to his roommates and partly because he doesn't want to have to drop out of college. He's still using, but mostly just weed and the occasional pill.
Despite the strict drug laws in Ohio, Brett can basically get you whatever you need at a moment's notice.
WHAT? THIS CLUB IS MY COMMUNITY SERVICE.

Round up of my wild week 19th-24th March 2023
It has been another memorable week of wildlife and photos for me, and one that felt again an interesting week of transition with making the most of wild winter sights like Brent Geese at Pennington and Siskins at my local Lakeside, whilst also observing a delightful array of emerging spring wildflowers and seeing a butterfly again with stunning views of a bright Brimstone flitting around Abbey Gardens on Wednesday lunch time.
Undoubtedly my star bird of the week was one of the best I’ve seen this year, the female Surf Scoter at Pennington which we saw on Sunday. What an honour to see this remarkable species so close into shore by the jetty, allowing for epic views to cherish. Just like the first I saw of the species a male at Stokes Bay eight years ago it is an enormous moment for Hampshire birding which I was overjoyed to be a part of. In another move into springtime Chiffchaffs just kept on giving for me this week as I saw so many and got some excellent views of these charming warblers on walks at Lakeside and in both Abbey Gardens and by the river in Winchester. My third star bird across the week again was of course Peregrine Falcon, in a momentous week where Winnie’s egg laying for this year commenced I was so happy to get to see so much of both birds at Winchester Cathedral on Wednesday and Thursday’s lunch breaks which is always so feel good and immersive. I enjoyed watching them on the webcam too: https://www.winchester-cathedral.org.uk/explore/peregrines/
On Thursday I certainly used the fact they’re more present at the cathedral now to indulge in Peregrine photos taking my long distance zoom bridge camera in my work bag for an office working day (the first subject I ever did this for which I now do regularly, and always the most thrilling I think), taking more photos than I ever had on a day before including the above.
It was good to get this Chiffchaff photo by the river on Thursday too.
Leading the other avian highlights was another target bird seen of late seeing my first Eider of the year further out to sea than the socter at Pennington on Sunday, a welcome sight of a lovely bird. I also enjoyed seeing Mediterranean Gulls well, an array of ducks including Shelduck, Shoveler and Gadwall, a nice range of waders including delightful Ruff, gorgeous Avocet, Redshank well and Grey Plover and Ringed Plover and Skylark at Pennington with Cetti’s Warbler heard really well there; the five Great Crested Grebes seen so well across the week at Lakeside again as well as Blue Tit, Great Tit and Long-tailed Tits, Tufted Ducks nicely especially at Lakeside and Mallard, Buzzard and Grey Wagtail seen well in Winchester this week.
These Collared Doves were a good Lakeside sight this week.
Finally the big point in my week of flowers are that as predicted based on past years as we got into the twenties for dates in March the snake’s-head fritillaries are out at Lakeside in their usual maiden spot in a year under trees in the southern fenced off area. It was a true joy to be spellbound by these marvelous and wonderfully coloured flowers. Seeing them is one of my favourite bits of spring and I’ve enjoyed them so much this week. Other brilliant flowers I liked seeing this week included the snowflakes at Lakeside again, hyacinth at Lakeside and in Winchester, green alkanet at both my first Lakeside sighting of any this year, speedwell, spurge, my first cowslips of the year, red deadnettle and daisy creating great scenes, a stunning spectacle of a bit of Lakeside covered in lesser celandine with this seen well throughout the week and some tulips in the grounds of Winchester Cathedral. I saw some nice fungi at Lakeside and out the front this week including hairy curtain crust and bees/hoverflies were nice to see too.
Snake’s-head fritillary yesterday
A glorious hyacinth at Winchester Cathedral on Thursday.
Blossom has a great grip on the landscape now especially at Lakeside with buds so visible now too and they both created golden scenes like this one at Lakeside yesterday evening.
It was good to be back at a place that inspires and connects me to nature so much the coast after a bit of lull in that when we went to Pennington, this one of a few nice views to take in, in a snatch of sunshine which has defined my photos on days a little of late.

Rwanda’s Responsible Tourism and Conservation Efforts
Gorilla Trekking: Life-Changing Encounters with Rwanda’s Mountain Gorillas
Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park is an iconic experience that offers an unparalleled chance to observe mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. This activity is a powerful example of Rwanda’s dedication to conservation, where stringent guidelines allow only small groups to visit these gentle giants, minimizing human impact. Led by expert guides, tourists climb bamboo-covered slopes, encountering gorillas up close. For many, this rare experience leaves a lasting impression, marking Rwanda as a premier destination for responsible wildlife tourism. Beyond Gorillas: Primate Tracking for Enthusiasts Though famous for gorillas, Rwanda is home to an impressive range of primates, including chimpanzees and monkeys. Nyungwe National Park is an excellent site for primate tracking, with populations of colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and olive baboons. This diverse primate ecosystem invites travelers to witness chimpanzees’ social interactions and the agile movements of colobus monkeys, giving a glimpse into the unique biodiversity that Rwanda offers beyond gorillas. Exploring Akagera National Park: Rwanda’s Revived Safari Gem
Akagera National Park, located on Rwanda’s eastern border, provides a remarkable safari experience. Thanks to conservation partnerships, Akagera now hosts the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo). In collaboration with the Rwandan government, African Parks has successfully reintroduced lions and black rhinos, creating a thriving habitat in Akagera's diverse landscapes. This revitalized park attracts tourists seeking private, immersive wildlife encounters, far from crowded safari scenes, making it an essential stop on Rwanda safari itineraries. Birdwatching: A Paradise for Avian Enthusiasts Rwanda is a veritable paradise for avian enthusiasts, home to an impressive 703 bird species, including 29 endemics unique to the Albertine Rift region. Nyungwe Forest and Akagera National Park offer some of Africa’s best montane birding experiences. The compact geography allows travelers to explore diverse habitats within a short span, providing easy access to rare species like the Grauer’s swamp warbler and red-collared mountain babbler. This makes Rwanda a top choice for eco-tourists and birding enthusiasts alike. Tea Plantations: Discover Rwanda’s Thriving Tea Culture
Rwanda’s tea plantations, especially Gisovu and Gisakura Tea Estates, provide scenic and cultural experiences unique to the country. Gisovu Tea Estate, located on the northern edge of Nyungwe Forest, offers tea tours with breathtaking views of tea fields against the lush forest. Tea enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the entire tea production process, from picking to tasting, providing an unexpected yet delightful addition to Rwanda’s travel offerings.

A highlight is the unique long-horned Inyambo cattle, tended by keepers who sing traditional songs, keeping an ancient Rwandan custom alive. This museum provides a rich cultural context for understanding Rwanda’s history. Ethnographic Museum: A Window into Rwanda’s Cultural Diversity Located in Huye, the Ethnographic Museum is one of Africa’s finest ethnographic collections, showcasing Rwanda's cultural heritage through artifacts, traditional tools, and crafts. It allows tourists to gain insights into Rwanda’s complex and diverse cultures, making it a meaningful stop on a well-rounded itinerary. Kigali Genocide Memorial: A Solemn Tribute and Educational Experience The Kigali Genocide Memorial serves as a reminder of Rwanda's tragic past and its journey toward reconciliation and peace. The memorial provides educational exhibits on the Genocide against the Tutsi and helps visitors understand its impacts on modern-day Rwanda. This deeply moving site reinforces the resilience of Rwanda’s people and the importance of responsible tourism that respects the country’s past. Rwanda Art Museum and Kandt House Museum: Celebrating Rwandan Creativity and History The Rwanda Art Museum in Kigali displays contemporary art that reflects Rwanda’s growing creative industry, while the Kandt House Museum offers a historical perspective on colonial-era Rwanda. Together, these museums provide diverse insights into Rwanda’s art, history, and modern identity, making them valuable additions for travelers who appreciate cultural tourism.

Cycling: Experience Rwanda’s Scenic Trails Known as the "land of a thousand hills," Rwanda offers extensive cycling trails that wind through picturesque countryside and vibrant villages. The Congo Nile Trail, in particular, provides an adventurous route along Lake Kivu’s shoreline, enabling travelers to engage with locals and experience Rwanda’s natural beauty from a unique perspective. Kayaking and Lake Tours on Lake Kivu Lake Kivu’s calm waters provide an excellent opportunity for kayaking, allowing visitors to enjoy Rwanda’s serene lakeside landscapes. Kayaking offers an immersive and eco-friendly way to explore, with many operators focusing on sustainable practices that respect the surrounding environment. Guided hikes allow visitors to explore volcanic mountains and vibrant rainforests, with the canopy walkway offering a bird’s-eye view of the rich biodiversity below. This activity appeals to adventure-seekers and nature lovers, adding variety to Rwanda’s tourism appeal. Caving and Sabyinyo Hiking Trail: Embracing Rwanda’s Underground Wonders Musanze Caves in northern Rwanda offer an intriguing journey through large caverns and colonies of bats, adding a distinct adventure to the Rwanda tour experience. The World's Best Destinations For Bird-Watching! Slow Down For Epic Spectacles of Nature in These World Wonders For Birding.
SOUTH GEORGIA 🇬🇪 ISLAND — Half a million king penguins, each standing three feet tall, pack shoulder to shoulder in mesmerizing colonies on this hundred-mile-long, glacier-studded island–reached by two days of sailing east of Chile’s Cape Horn. Millions of smaller seabirds nest on the island’s tussock-covered slopes, partly thanks to the largest-ever rat-eradication effort, completed on South Georgia in 2015. While drinking in the abundant birdlife, raise a glass to Ernest Shackleton at his final resting place. Photograph By Eric Chen, Getty Images
CAPE MAY, NEW JERSEY, USA 🇺🇸— The narrow peninsula at Cape May acts as a bird funnel, bringing in songbirds during their spring and fall migrations. At dawn on a good day, legendary Higbee Beach offers front-row seats to a feathered fashion show: A steady procession flies by, each bird intent on finding a place to rest as it encounters the natural barrier of Delaware Bay. With a little luck, you can see 20 species of warblers, each in its own colorful costume. Photograph By Jay Cassario, Getty Images
PANTANAL, BRAZIL 🇧🇷 — Everyone gets spoiled by nature’s extravagance of Brazil's Pantanal, especially during the July-to-August dry season when three-foot hyacinth macaws and hulking jabiru storks seem to lurk around every corner. Cruise the famous Transpantaneira road or hop a boat downriver where, amid oodles of birds, you might glimpse a jaguar lounging on an exposed bank. Photograph By All Canada Photos/Alamy Stock Photo
BROOME, WESTERN AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 — Roebuck Bay, on the coast of Australia’s enormous Kimberley wilderness, might be the shorebird capital of the world. More than 100,000 sandpipers, godwits, knots, tattlers, plovers, curlews, greenshanks, and turnstones gather here each year before embarking on a marathon journey northward: Many will not touch down until reaching China five days later. In early April, you can relax on the beach at sunset to watch flock after flock take to the skies. Photograph By Luc Hooganstein, Buiten-Beeld/Minden Pictures
NEW GUINEA 🇬🇳 HIGHLANDS — The jungly interior of New Guinea, largely unmapped until the 1930s, astonished early explorers with its birdlife—and the area remains a birdwatcher’s wonderland. Dazzling birds-of-paradise appear to have sprung from a modern artist’s wild imagination. A courting male Raggiana bird of paradise looks like a quivering, pastel-colored feather duster caught in an invisible pinball machine. Photograph By Tim Laman, National Geographic Image Collection
KAKUM NATIONAL PARK, GHANA 🇬🇭 — A series of hanging walkways, draped 130 feet above the ground, gives bird’s-eye views of Ghana's pristine West African rain forest for those brave enough to sway into the canopy. Seven treetops are connected by spans totaling 1,150 feet—almost a quarter mile of vertiginous crossings. It’s possible to find 300 species of birds in the park, including the little-known Fraser’s eagle-owl, the wide-ranging melancholy woodpecker, and nine different hornbills. Photograph By Wietse Michiels, Alamy Stock Photo
MINDO, ECUADOR 🇪🇨 — Embraced by cloud forest almost a mile above sea level, the enclave of Mindo in Ecuador is a honey trap for hummingbirds. Spend a morning at one of the valley’s many sugar-feeder stations to admire these turbocharged gems—with evocative names like shining sunbeam and glowing puffleg. While you’re at it, indulge your own sweet tooth with a bar of heavenly, shade-grown local chocolate. Photograph By Karine Aigner, National Geographic Image Collection
HULA VALLEY, FOREVER PALESTINE 🇵🇸 (ILLEGALLY OCCUPIED BY THE FASCIST WAR CRIMINAL ZIONIST 🐖 🐷 🐖 🐗, ISRA-HELL) — At the geographic crossroads of Eurasia and Africa, upwards of a billion birds may pass through Israeli airspace each fall before crossing the Sahara Desert. Wetland restoration projects have been so successful that many birds now spend the winter, too, and “The Terrorist , Fascist, Apartheid Illegal Regime of the War Criminal Isra-helli 🐖 🐷 🐖 🐗 Government” feeds corn and seeds to tens of thousands of common cranes in the Hula Valley to decrease crane damage to agricultural fields. A movable hide lets viewers sneak into the midst of this real-life spectacle. Photograph By Doron Horowitz, Redux
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK, SOUTH AFRICA 🇿🇦— On safari, the birds are just as outrageous as other, furrier wildlife. Behold the secretarybird, a terrestrial eagle that uses its exceptionally long legs to stride across the African savanna and stamp on venomous snakes. Or the lesser jacana, equipped with such spindly toes that it can balance on floating lily pads. While others pursue the Big Five in South Africa, set your sights on the tiny Southern cordon-bleu—and, bonus, you’ll spot all the megafauna along the way. Photograph By Mdumbleton, Getty Images
NAGALAND, INDIA 🇮🇳— Several years ago, when conservationists visited the remote province of Nagaland on the border of India and Myanmar, they discovered more than a million Amur falcons gathering in dense roosts near Doyang Reservoir—apparently a launching point for the falcons’ nonstop, 13,000-mile migratory flight to Southern Africa. At its peak in October, this stopover may hold the world’s largest concentration of raptors. Photograph By Caisii Mao, Nutphoto/Getty Images
