Kun wants a serious relationship, he wants to find his soulmate, but could have a lot of karma to release when it comes to love, so he tends to attract tricksters, people who are beautiful and seem romantic but are not all they appear to be. That being said, he tends to go for driven people who are goal oriented (sometimes have a tendency to use him for their goals), who are good at making decisions, diplomacy and business, very intelligent, cunning people. Someone who could treat him like a servant a bit, but he would feel honored to have been accepted by this person. This could be a specific energy I’m picking up on, an actual person. Who wouldn’t want to go to Hogwarts with these boys? 😁 can’t wait to write some AUs for them too!

Hongjoong

☆ “Ah,” the Sorting Hat hums as it’s set atop Hongjoong’s head, “the mind of an artist. Don’t see this one too often. Creative, determined, you like to do what you want.” With a chuckle, the hat’s folds opened again, this time with a shout of “Ravenclaw!” Hongjoong is proud, hoping he could represent the house known for creatives and intellectuals who push boundaries.

☆ Proudest “blood traitor” Pure-Blood family this side of Hogwarts, that’s the Kims, especially Hongjoong 😌

☆ Like, the only student at Hogwarts who has an actual knack for Divination, like he actually sees things and they actually make sense. No one believes Hongjoong until something actually comes true. He even asks for his own crystal ball from his parents for Christmas and customizes a really pretty base for it. He’s also really skilled at Transfiguration, all the really flowing magic just cones to him even though there’s a precision to that one. Hongjoong can roll with it all!

☆ He doesn’t hate any of his classes, but History of Magic is the least interesting one for sure.

☆ Hongjoong joins the Ravenclaw Quidditch team as a Chaser, a position where he can lead and guide the team…and also try to pull as many distracting trick shots as he can! Gets really creative with how he spins the ball.

☆ He cannot wait to see what his Patronus looks like, secretly hoping to either get something adorable or really beautiful. He gets his wish and then some as wings burst out, a phoenix flying from his wand. It is quite rare for someone to have a magical creature for a Patronus, but chalk that up to Hongjoong’s spirit! He absolutely adores his Patronus, the sight of it perched on his shoulder, and his heart swells. His memories literally created magic.

Seonghwa

☆ He kind of wants Gryffindor, but has been told he'd make a good Hufflepuff, so ultimately Seonghwa leaves it up to the hat's decision. "Leaving it up to me, huh?" The Sorting Hat chuckles. "You're kind. You care for and value others...and their opinions apparently! You're a Hufflepuff!" Huh, so that was that.

☆ Having Muggle parents, he was quite surprised to develop powers, but a quick visit from his future teachers cleared things up…sort of! He can’t get over how amazing Diagon Alley is, dragging his parents into every shop he can.

☆ Absolutely ENAMORED with Care of Magical Creatures, like oh my gosh little tree guys! Funny cats! A REAL HIPPOGRIFF??? Seonghwa can’t get enough of the fantastic animals. He’s also a natural at Herbology, basically you can always trust him to keep things alive! Both of those classes simultaneously relax and excite him.

☆ Flying? Up that high? No thank you!

☆ Due to his fear of heights, Seonghwa doesn’t join Hufflepuff’s Quidditch team, but is the loudest, proudest supporter out there! You’ll always find him in the stands, especially since he has friends in every house.

☆ Seonghwa wonders what animal he'll get: maybe a cute cat or a big, strong tiger? A lovely mare? Sort of! A large pegasus is what ends up soaring from the tip of his wand, spreading its gorgeous wings and snuffling at its partner, bringing a wide-eyed look of eye and smile to him as he reaches his hands out to the white winged horse.

Yunho

☆ He’s outgoing, so maybe Gryffindor? That’s what Yunho thinks as he does some pre-hat self-reflection. The hat, however, takes a different approach. “Hm, kind, loving, loyal, yes, very loyal…” “Thanks!” Yunho exclaims, surprised the hat seems so nice. This isn’t so bad! “This one goes to Hufflepuff!” Yunho is surprised, but it makes sense given what the hat said. Happiness shouldn’t be too hard to find in Hogwarts’s kindest house!

☆ Yunho’s family is Pure-Blooded, but they raise their children with great sympathy for those without magic.

☆ Due to his interest in the world outside of wizarding, Yunho signs up for the Muggle Studies elective and loves it. They use electricity? Like lightning trapped in metal and that’s how telephones work? It’s almost more amazing how people go without magic than just waving a wand and making things move on their own! He also enjoys Charms, just quick little spells he can let go on the fly for fun.

☆ Doesn’t really hate any particular classes, but he got emotionally attached to the mandrake he raised in Herbology and got sad when it died.

☆ One of Hufflepuff’s Chasers. Loves the feeling of the wind in his hair and being able to fly victory loops when he scores and wins!

☆ Yunho is so excited when it’s his turn to try a Patronus, practically bouncing on his heels and hoping he gets a cool one as he remembers so many wonderful and exciting moments of his life so far. With quite a burst, a golden retriever leaps out and stands up on him, almost bowling him over!

Yeosang

☆ "You're an interesting one, aren't you?" "Er, thank you...sir?" Yeosang glanced upward at the mass of fabric atop his head. "You're trying not to laugh right now," the hat exposes him, "and yet a thousand ideas are coming to your head. Best express a few of those. Ravenclaw!" Yeosang wasn't sure what he was expecting, sure he thought he could make Gryffindor and some of his friends teased him about being a shoo-in for Slytherin, but something about being in a quiet, intelligent house didn't bother him either. He could be more than happy about that!

☆ A Half-Blood born to a Muggle and a wizard, Yeosang has a foot in both worlds. Magic is no great surprise to him, though, being raised around all his wizarding family and the rest sworn to secrecy! His Muggle cousins are so jealous he gets powers!

☆ Enjoys Astronomy because it’s really relaxing to look at the stars and draw beautiful charts. The idea that they might reveal secrets is amazing to Yeosang too. He jokes about taking Muggle Studies just for the bit, but ends up in Ancient Runes with Hongjoong. It’s a hard class but at least they can write secret code notes to each other!

☆ He’s not a huge fan of Potions because the mistakes tend to get messy! Wishes he could take it with Wooyoung every year.

☆ Ravenclaw’s Seeker, Yeosang has a knack for focusing in on one thing and even when his eyes wander, having them land on the golden snitch!

☆ Frankly, Yeosang isn’t sure what he’s expecting, like will the animal look like him? Represent his memories somehow? Just be whatever it happens to be? Despite having no specific expectations, he still can’t contain his awe and surprise when a glowing lioness slides out of his wand, fierce but caring and capable, and leans to peer at him with soft eyes.

San

☆ He’s not sure if he’s more of a Slytherin or a Gryffindor honestly, but the assumption in his mind is that he’s one of the two. “Slytherin or Gryffindor, huh?” The Sorting Hat asks. “Well, I just thought of those as the houses that take action, and-” “You’re a doer, huh?” The hat replies. “Big heart, too. I’ll say…Gryffindor!” The hat seemed to agree with San and listen to him, so he’s happy to join the house of lions!

☆ San is a Half-Blood, his parents being a Half-Blood and a Muggleborn, so he has plenty of wizarding experience along with his sister, but there’s something special about the memories they make with their Muggle grandparents!

☆ This boy loves to fly! He’s pretty sad it’s only an official regular class in First Year because an hour of flying is the best decompress after a bunch of lessons. He also really loves Care of Magical Creatures, trying to apply what he knows from caring for the cat he brings to Hogwarts as if it’ll help him remember what nifflers eat!

☆ History of Magic bores him, but at least it’s a good excuse to goof off and play with his friends in- all while keeping his head up as much as possible, of course.

☆ One of Gryffindor’s Chasers. Addicted to the rush of flying, just being able to soar around after the balls. Also loves having that opportunity to contribute to a team, it makes his heart warm!

☆ Everyone says it’s going to be a cat, and San just laughs, saying he wouldn’t mind at all. Well, luckily for his Patronus San is good-natured, for it slinks out of his wand as a Siamese cat that looks suspiciously familiar… perhaps Patronuses really are made from the things people love most.

Mingi

☆ Mingi wants to be in Ravenclaw, even though the house’s reputation for great minds is a bit daunting. “So, it’s Ravenclaw you want?” The Sorting Hat asks him. “Well, if I’m being honest,” Mingi replies, “yes. I- I think I can do it!” “Of course you can. You’ve a good mind on you,” the hat tells him, “Ravenclaw it is!” So proud to be in his dream house, Mingi swears to prove himself worthy of it.

☆ As a Muggleborn, he gets thrust into the wizarding world very quickly, but he makes friends the moment they set foot in Diagon Alley, so that’s where he learns about things like his school’s houses and sports. Mingi feels so lucky to get to experience it all and that the other kids he meets are so nice!

☆ Absolute Arithmancy whiz! Everyone’s whining about how hard it is and here’s Mingi with his great grades like it’s nothing, even though he’s forgotten his inkwell a few times. Everyone thinks he’s not going to be good at Potions but he surprises them with that too. Never has any big blowups and really likes making different brews once he gets the hang of it!

☆ Defense Against the Dark Arts makes him nervous because he didn’t realize how dangerous the wizarding world could be! Could those things really be out there to get him or his friends? He can only hope he remembers all he learns.

☆ Prefers watching Quidditch to playing, but he hand-makes a banner to wave in the stands that is the most precious mood booster to the team!

☆ Mingi isn’t sure what he’s going to get, jokes ranging from a powerful lion despite him being in Ravenclaw to a little leaping bunny. As his will is focused through his hand and wand, though, joy turning into light, it takes the shape of a snowy owl. Wise, fierce-looking, and yet…it tumbles over and bursts into what looks like a smile at the sight of its caster and Mingi can’t help smiling back!

Wooyoung

☆ The Sorting Hat speaks almost the second it’s placed on Wooyoung’s head. “Oh, Merlin! This one’s a Gryffindor if I’ve ever seen one!” Grinning, Wooyoung is off the stool in no time, proud to get the house he wanted so definitively.

☆ He’s a Half-Blood, both of his parents wizards just descended from mixed lines, plenty of Muggleborn and Half-Blood genes contributing. He used to joke that his family needed to be careful or else they’d end up with a bunch of squibs, but he couldn’t care less about blood- they’re his family.

☆ This boy LOVES Charms- any class he can use to screw with his friends is a great one for Wooyoung! He’s also an absolute star at Potions AKA his friends’ savior when they need help. He just legitimately loves it, though, so working on even the homework for it is often fun for him!

☆ Cannot STAND History of Magic, it’s just blah blah blah…but at least he can kick San under the bench and see what random stuff he can levitate without Binns noticing (it’s a lot).

☆ Another of Gryffindor’s Chasers, Wooyoung is known for taking (and often landing) really daring shots! May even want to try out for captain later on.

☆ Jokes about his Patronus looking like a lion because he’s that proud to be a Gryffindor, but as he remembers good times with friends and family and a fox leaps from his wand with a sly tilt of its head, Wooyoung can’t help but feel like he got the perfect partner.

Jongho

☆ "You're good at something once you put your mind to it." Jongho's mouth fell open into a little 'o' of surprise, not expecting a compliment from the Sorting Hat of all people...well, beings? "Convincing, too, very convincing. You can take charge when you need to." Jongho nodded along with the hat's words right up to the moment it called out "Slytherin!" He was a bit surprised being so brave and active, but he sort of had the feeling it'd be either Gryffindor or Slytherin.

☆ A Pure-Blood wizard, Jongho doesn’t let the pressure of that get to him- to him they’re all witches and wizards, it’s their skills and application that depend, and he intends to use and grow his!

☆ One of his favorite subjects is Flying because it helps him practice for Quidditch, one of his greatest areas of desire to achieve! He also adores Muggle Studies, the class where he learns about Muggle sports like soccer and subsequently tries to find Muggleborns to play with him.

☆ Considers dropping Divination because it’s such a ridiculous class, but keeps it just because it ends up being some of the most fun bonding time with friends. And ok, fine, once something may have been accurate and the curiosity has eaten him up since.

☆ One of Slytherin’s Beaters, and boy is he good at it! Such a strong arm makes for some spectacular Bludger shots. A big part of why the other teams are worried about playing Slytherin.

☆ Is determined to cast a corporeal Patronus, focusing with all his might on his best memory. It definitely pays off, he thinks, as a massive light fills the space in front of him, coalescing into the form of a big grizzly bear ready to firmly protect him.

Sorry if it's cringe it's the first story i wrote since 3 Years ^^'

Y/N was a year younger then Her Brother Harry and lived at the dursleys place as well. When she had her first year in Hogwarts she became friends with some Kids In other houses, but one specific Person made Harry mad and the Potter siblings started to fight very often even though they mostly didn't last long. "Y/N you could have been friends with anyone you could've dated any guy You wanted! But why Malfoy?! Why him?!", Y/N

flinched as Harry raised his voice "He helped me to get through the Castle without getting lost while you walked away with Hermione and Ron!-" Y/N Said and looked away. Harry was shocked. Malfoy? helping a Gryffindor? Especially a Potter? "He helped you? Since when would He help a Potter?" Y/N smiled as she turned her back towards her brother. "Seems like he likes me more than you. No wonder if your being such a jerk sometimes." And left. "What is that suppose to mean Now?-" Harry kept standing in the hallway questioning what his sister wanted from him now.

"If that Wouldn't be young Potter" Draco said with a soft smile on his face seeing his girlfriend walk through the hallways. "Hey" Y/N said and Gets onto her toes to give him Kiss "It's already Lunchtime soo-" Y/N didn't finish her sentence when she already grabbed Dracos hand and took him to the great hall "Well there they go-" Ron said as him and Harry and Hermione came out of another hallway seeing them walking past the three.

Time went by Draco and Y/N had a lot of fun and Harry maybe got used to theyr relationship. Everything went good but that was not for long Y/n had to find out that her beloved Draco was not who she thought he was. She had to face reality and find out that her Boyfriend was a death eater. And so they landed on top of the Astrology tower in the middle of the Battle of Hogwarts Draco pointing his wand at Y/N sobbing and barely holding back tears. "I'm sorry Y/N.." he said, his whole body shaking as he was the one having to kill his Girlfriend. "Draco please.. You don't have to do this.." The girl said. Harry as the protective brother he was, or at least tried to be, ran up the stairs of the tower trying to save his sister. "Come On Draco.. kill her." said a female voice as Bellatrix lestrange came out of the shadows behind Draco . "I-I can't.. she's my girlfriend..!", Dracos hand was shaking as he was about to point his wand at himself. "I'd rather kill myself then her!" Y/N grabbed his wand to stop him "Draco stop please.. I know you are doing this to make your father proud so make him even prouder..",She Said before she backed off a bit presenting herself to get killed. "Promise me one thing Draco... Please try to become friends with My brother..", she said with a soft smile and Tears in her eyes "And now do what you have to do..." Draco points his wand at her again still shaking he said it "Avada kedavra.." Draco broke down in tears as he saw Her fall down the tower "Y/N!" When we were working on the book, we came up with a sort of mantra for the encounters: Is it sticky? Is it toyetic? Do the NPCs have means, motive, and opportunity? Is there information, choice, and impact?

That's a lot of jargon, and it's been synthesized from across multiple sources. Prismatic Wasteland summed it all up here:

Sticky means that the encounter isn't something the characters can avoid. It sticks to them.

Toyetic came from false machine as well, but also from a post now lost to time from Rebecca Chenier. Basically—will the players and GM want to pick up and play with the encounter?

MMO is just a way to conceptualize NPCs in a simple, understandable form.

ICI is from Bastionland. We can't make informed decisions without information, and there's no point to making decisions if our choices don't matter.

Building the encounters meant looking at each of them carefully and considering those foundational elements. Not EVERY encounter needed every single thing. In fact, with the way WFS wanted to write the book, each encounter had to be relatively short and packing a punch.

A really really sticky encounter didn't need to be as toyetic, and a really fun and interesting encounter that the players would NEED to investigate didn't need to be all that sticky. Everything is a gear of a different size that turns the whole engine.

Illusory Sensorium thinks that they ran the game "wrong" and I disagree. They used the tools provided by the book and had fun! Mission Accomplished!

But one thing they point out very early on is how they "trusted" the encounters in the book as written. The very first one they got is quite simple: 54 skeletons in a conga line, labeled like playing cards.

Incredibly toyetic, not sticky. But the players immediately joined in!

They could have moved on, but that situation was too tantalizing to skip. The rest of the game unfolded from that first encounter, and was filled with shenanigans. The work we put in—hand crafted encounters—worked out!

I'm incredibly proud of the work everyone on the team put into Barkeep, from the writers, artists, and fellow editors. I'm especially proud that people are playing the adventure and having fun. People playing the stuff you've worked on and made is the best feeling as a creator.

Your question gave me an idea for a new type of guidance to add to my blog, so if you have any other question about the cards or their meanings, as well as those that might stop by and read this too, please feel free to ask me to help you with your readings. I absolutely love learning new things again and again through my own cards, and having the possibility to share this experience or knowledge with you is truly an honour for me!♡

Before we dive into it, please always remember that there are a lot of little but significant things that go to influence a reading and its message. From the details of the situation, that in this case only you can fully know, your personal opinion or hopes regarding what is happening, or just what type of questions you are asking your cards, even the way you choose your words… To your emotions that might overwhelm you while you are reading the answer. Or the deck you are using and the meaning that their creator/ artist gave them, as well as the meaning that you yourself have for each card as a result of who you are, your intuition and personal experience with your cards… So while I will use my cards, a simple Rider Waite Smith tarot deck, and my experience with them… consider them only a base for your own interpretation or perhaps a little addition that could unlock some new insights for you or confirm others. Don't feel any pressure to take this as a whole and complete reading, but feel free to spend time with your cards, going through your wanders or doubts until things will feel clear and right.

Considering there are so many different interpretations of these cards connected to a situation, I will go first through the cards themselves and their separate meaning, and then through the possible interpretations of all the cards together connected to the topic of love.

– The ten of wands

Is a pretty heavy card. Heavy, but also strangely rewarding. It represents our strength, our courage and resilience, even patience, in going forward and working on something. On trying your best to go through the not so few obstacles and difficulties you are encountering. And fortunately, overcoming them, in one way or another, understanding in the end (no matter how it will be) the worth of your own actions and perseverance, your hard work and efforts in which you really did your best. And being proud of yourself.

– The page of swords

Is the strength and the power of a mind, of a decision, of a point of view that one might decide to have regarding a situation, and especially what we choose to tell ourselves or others about it. It is a power that can be both victorious or destructive. It can give one the possibility to find or create a solution to a situation, or courage and strength to defend themselves and their decisions/ ideas. But it can also be the worst if used against your own self, for example by holding too much on ideas or decisions that again and again are proved wrong, defending them with all you have in front of people or a part of your own self that just wants to guide you in a better direction. Very often also these cards might represent the power of communication or knowledge of something really important, that can be too used for bad or for good. It can open one’s eyes and give them support, or contrary mislead and manipulate them.

Lastly, I personally read with the reversed cards very rarely, and I usually interpret the meaning of the cards (negative or positive) through the context of a situation or the cards next to them… But here, in case you use the reversed cards as an indication of a negative or hidden aspect of a situation, then we obviously will go with them.

– The ten of swords

Is an ending. The one that we most of the time struggle to accept, face or let go of, particularly in our mind. Hence the swords. It might be the end of a situation, of a behaviour, yours or of someone else. The need to let go of someone, an idea, thought or a desire, especially of the urge to keep on forcing or focusing on something that is clearly not working out or hurting you only more. Being reversed this one too… It is more likely indicating a difficulty in doing so, a certain reluctance, rejection or incapability to let a certain ending happen. Preferring to suffer under the pressure of the circumstance but at least having the hope that one day things might change, by your hand or of someone else, rather than accepting the painful reality that this is it.

Now, as I’ve mentioned before, even with just these three cards we can have many different interpretations, especially depending on the situation that you are currently in and that you were reading for. Considering you didn't specify your situation, or your particular way of interpreting them/ your questions, I will try to write down a few meanings these cards can have for different circumstances, or at least as many as I can find.

– If you are alone at the moment and your heart is not connected to someone in particular...

Then you need to go a little easier on yourself, especially on your heart. Because although there is absolutely nothing wrong in desiring and searching for love, for that special and right someone… It is so wrong to put so much pressure, so many expectations and at the same time have judgement towards your own self and existing or absent progress in this area of your life, just because of how much you make this desire become a literal and most important goal of your life. It is true that we are the ones to decide, so if we look for someone or not, if we try to connect to people, the way we put ourselves out there and present ourselves to others does certainly influence our possibility to “succeed”... But we need also to remember that there are many other aspects of our life or reality, and of other people, that are important and even vital for a beginning, creation and strength of a connection. There might be some things that you feel responsible for, knowing or thinking that it is important for you to focus on them and do your best. There might be other things that are deeply overwhelming now for you, and consume your heart and mind. It might be something that you desire but don't really need now, or contrary something that you think you need but deep down you don't feel ready to go through it. The timing, the moment, the best for you right now… There might be many reasons or ways to talk about the fact that now you don't have anyone specific by your side. But any or all of them will ultimately have only the positive aspect to them. And the reason it feels like the opposite now, so heavy, frustrating and even painful, is meanly because you make yourself see it this way. Almost forcing or convincing yourself that it is not normal, wrong, or strange to be alone now. Because of your own way of thinking or an example of someone in your life and their opinion… But you really highlight it for yourself this way, each time you look at it or think about this situation. Pushing yourself to work on it even when for the moment this is not the most important thing. It is the case of when things will happen at the right moment and in the right way on their own. And trying to make them happen fastly won't change anything but just making it more heavy for you. A journey and phase of your life that should be more joyful or significant than just the search of a person to have by your side. Go easier, it is not so urgent or alarming that it is not working out now. You are making it be this way with your choice to see it from this perspective. The one that you can and should change.

– If you are alone but your heart is still called by someone from your past...

Then you should remember why you are here, and why they are still and only there. In the memories of you and your connection that you hold so closely to your heart. You should remember what and how it happened, that your paths were not anymore aligned. And you should remind yourself of how much you got through just to be here, feeling perhaps still a little frail, but also with so many less wounds on your soul. There is indeed a reason for it, to why and how our connection to someone is being at some point cut. No matter if it happens because of us, of them, or something else that was strong and important enough to push us apart. There was a reason for it, perhaps even many. And in the good or in the bad, but it is for the best. Especially when you already made so many steps forward. When this connection or this person is already so far away. Thinking about it, wondering how things could've gone if only one of you did that one thing… is so different from actually finding them once again, trying to repair a bond that was already broken. They are different because one you can always do as long as you want to… but the other will not be so easily permitted by who you and them became in this time and distance, and the way your lives are different now. You can remember them, remember those days… but you can't do it at the expense of your current reality and where you are now. You can't just ignore it and prefer the ifs of something that already happened, just because there was at least something... to the possibilities and opportunities for you to have something new and better now, just because at this exact moment it is more difficult to manage this area of your life. No matter if you are alone or with someone, focus on this, on what you have or can have now. Not what or how things could've been in the past. You are only making yourself go through it again, all that anxiety and struggle, for a battle that is already long ended. The one that doesn’t deserve your focus, your attention and your choice of fighting for it sacrificing parts of yourself and of your life. Not then, not now.

– If you are alone but your heart is longing for someone specific...

Then you need to slow down for a moment. To give yourself a moment of rest. And reflect. On how much you are doing, how much you are going through for that person. Emotionally, mentally, physically… How much you are giving away of yourself, nurturing a connection that is yet to be created. A connection for which you are fighting so much while the other person is not even aware of it, or intentionally does not look up, avoiding your eyes… It is normal that if we don't fight or don't try, nothing really will ever happen in our life. But as in many things, in connections too, we need to remember that not everything depends only on this. On us, on our decisions or desires, on our efforts. We are not the only ones that can or need to do our part in order for something to be created or to work out. There are many other things that should be handled by others, as they work with you on it. You can't possibly do it on your own, you can't pursue them for so long, chase after them, adapt to them, try to attract their gaze. You can't have so many ideas, or plans, or patience and resources to come up with something again and again. Or at least, you can’t keep on doing it at the speed and force you used to until now, while they are still keeping this distance, this silence between your hearts… One thing is to do a step closer to someone trying to connect with them, seeing if they perhaps might feel the same spark that you felt when you met them. Another is to try to sell yourself, to force them to notice you one way or another, without any escape. They might be really blind to all that you feel and do for them. They might be not interested right away and trying to run away from you. They can be interested only in what you can do and give them if they let you close enough. They can have a heart that beats so strongly when they think about you, but at the same time have so little experience or courage to make their steps… There might be many reasons behind the distance that there is still between your hearts, but in each one of the cases doing more, pushing yourself out of your way, obsessing over them… is just not the right way. Because it can make them feel uncomfortable and scare them. Or contrary, it might lead you right away in a trap that you promised yourself you would never fall for again. It can simply consume you. It is already doing it, as you are trying to do the work of two hearts that are needed for a connection - just with your one, stressing it more and more, ignoring your inner knowledge that it is not the right way to create a bond. Give yourself some time, rest. And leave for them the space to take action. Demonstrating to you if they are really interested or not. If they want the same you do.

– If you are now in a connection, relationship or situationship...

(or if you are focusing on the connection with your own self and your own heart)

Then don’t be so fast on considering it doomed and leaving it behind… All these challenges, these differences and changes in your connection as the time passes by are not the easiest to handle, it’s true… But they also don’t necessarily mean that thing will never work out or that this person is not right for you. Trust me, you would've felt it, you would've know it in your heart, if there was something deeply wrong or dangerous in the person by your side. It wouldn't be so difficult to let them go, giving it all up. And it wouldn't feel so right and natural to hope for things to change as you work on them together one step at a time. It is just a lot of things happening at the same time, in your and theirs life. But the presence of all of this does not automatically mean that you or them are not handling it or taking care of it. You are doing both your best. And it just needs a change of perspective to make things less heavier to carry on your back. There are cases in which the other person doesn't do their part or intentionally doesn't try to change things for the better. There are those in which it is just a cruel play pretend… But not all of these situations are like that. Not always the struggles come from the meanness or ill intention of someone. Not always it is not worth the patience, commitment and time that it needs to work out… I know it is scary, it is difficult and tiring. But it is not like this because of you or them, it is not because of this connection between your hearts. It is just a phase that will pass, a lesson that will be learned, an obstacle that you'll overcome. And it will be worth it. Exactly like your heart tells you each time you overthink your faith in you, in them, in your connection and intention to fight for who is already so close and dear to your heart.

Ahhh, my boys! This would have to be in an AU where Duncan lives, admittedly, since in canon they don't come clean about their feelings to each other until Duncan dies and becomes a ghost, but...!

who made the first move: Jacob, cluelessly. Duncan is the ULTIMATE tsundere, so he's a bit emotionally constipated when it comes to expressing fonder emotions, especially romantic interest. Jacob, on the other hand, would be bleeding romantic affection without even seeing it for what it is -- this is a guy who would come up behind his supposed "best friend" and lean his head on his shoulder or give him spontaneous hugs for absolutely no reason at all besides being happy to see him.

who kissed who first: Jacob. Again, Duncan would stubbornly not come clean about the extent of his feelings unless he knew for SURE that Jacob felt the same way -- Duncan is both proud and afraid of rejection enough that he would wait for Jacob to confess and kiss first.

who started the relationship: Duncan. Even if he'd let Jacob make the first move, Duncan would ultimately be the one to make the final decision about when they start dating. And yeah, he'd make it damn clear to Jacob that he intends them to be completely exclusive and committed for the long haul. (Fortunately Jacob would be kind of dimly like, "...Well, yeah! Obviously! :<", which would reassure Duncan greatly.)

who remembers things: Academic stuff like the twelve uses of dragon's blood, Jacob. Practical stuff like paying the bills and where things are kept, definitely Duncan.

nicknames for each other: Jacob almost exclusively calls Duncan "Ashe" since the moment they first met, and even after starting to date, that wouldn't change. Jacob would only dip into other pet names like "dear" or "hot stuff" if he was teasing Duncan. Duncan never calls Jacob anything but his name, but the way he says his name makes it very clear how he feels about him. When they're having a serious conversation, and especially if they're intimate, Duncan will say his name over and over again.

who is more likely to pay for dinner: Duncan -- he's better with money than Jacob. Though Jacob loves to cook meals for Duncan and himself when he can.

what would they get each other for gifts: As touched on, for anniversaries, they'd both lean toward smaller, more practical stuff. On birthdays and Christmas, Jacob would go out of his way to get or make useful and personalized gifts for Duncan, like a new wand holster or a portable room in a suitcase he customized with his own spell work. Duncan would be very prone to getting Jacob books, as well as new clothes and accessories, since Jacob is hopeless when it comes to fashion.

most trivial thing they fight over: Jacob not picking up after himself and putting things back where he found them.

how often do they fight: Frequently, though usually about pretty minor things and it's more light bickering than anything: nothing violent or aggressive. A lot of it just comes down to their two completely different and flawed methods of communication. Duncan is a tsundere who doesn't always say what he means, and when you're a book-smart, people-dumb spaceman like Jacob, it is a little hard sometimes to figure out what your other half wants. Jacob is an eccentric know-it-all who isn't always great at being tactful or sensitive, and when you're a proud, brusque person with high walls around your heart like Duncan, it can be hard sometimes to speak the same language as your other half.

who uses all the hot water: Jacob, by accident. But hey, how else was he going to test the bouyancy of different types of magical creature eggs?

who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: If they lived in a flat rather than travelling constantly, Duncan. Either that, or Jacob would volunteer to fix it himself.

who leaves their stuff around: LMAO, Jacob. Definitely Jacob.

who remembers to buy the milk: Duncan, but he'd just as likely just remind Jacob to do it, if he's going out.

who controls the netflix queue: Jacob favorites just about everything (since he's interested in so many different things) -- Duncan finetunes those choices into things they both can enjoy.

who steals the covers at night: Duncan -- Jacob is more likely to hold onto Duncan than the blankets.

who cusses more: Hahaha, I could actually see both of them swearing a lot when they get mad. They would especially use some choice swears against anyone who messes with each other or Carewyn, like Blaise Cromwell and other members of the Cromwell Clan. Duncan cherishes his honorary sister-in-law and Jacob loves that so much.

who does most of the cleaning: Duncan, on a daily basis -- though if Duncan asks Jacob to help him clean, Jacob will break out the bleach and scrub brushes and give everything a REALLY deep clean.

what’s their favorite non-sexual activity: Solving puzzles! All kinds: riddles, word games, even actual tactile puzzles. The best part of cursebreaking together for them would be breaking codes and solving mysteries together.

who’s the cuddler: Jacob, and Duncan quietly adores that about him.

who’s the big spoon/little spoon: Jacob loves being the big spoon despite being shorter than Duncan.

who’s more dominant: Duncan is kind of a "power bottom" in his dynamic with Jacob -- Jacob might be the more "alpha" of the two romantically and sexually, but Duncan often sets the pace, puts in the fence posts, and calls the final shots. If Duncan wants something while they're intimate, Jacob will bend over backwards to please him.

who is the dirty talker: Jacob. Duncan's vocals in the bedroom are much more centric on Jacob's name and positive affirmation -- Jacob is the type to talk a lot, inside and outside the bedroom.

what do they do when they’re away from each other: Keep themselves very occupied, but also think of the other almost constantly, whether they verbalize it or not. Even in their canon, Jacob brings Duncan up a lot for the rest of his life, out of the blue, simply because something he's doing makes him think of his first love.

what would they do if the other one was hurt: In both cases, these two would flip out. Jacob would immediately beat the crap out of anyone who hurt Duncan, whether with his wand, fists, or both -- Duncan would hex that person with the strongest spell he could think of and, if applicable, plot worse, silent revenge on them later when no one else is around: he'd want to make sure anyone who hurt Jacob would really and truly suffer.

a headcanon: Duncan might be a tsundere who values how people see him, but if anyone were to give him and Jacob the side-eye in public -- either because they're attracted to either Jacob or him or for being two men in a romantic relationship -- he's enough of a rebellious rulebreaker sort and jealous enough of a lover that he'd absolutely start openly snogging Jacob, just to get a reaction. Fortunately Jacob is all on-board with this and, even if he didn't realize the context of the situation, would immediately match Duncan's enthusiasm.

Winifred genuinely does want the best for her son, and genuinely did support his goals to take over the kingdom because she wanted to be supportive of what her son wanted. She knew Goodwyn and nobody else ever showed him any support ever since the Incident, and she always felt very bad for him.

And while it was good she at least was a source of support in his life, she went about it the wrong way.

She encouraged him to follow his evil dreams and prove his greatness to everyone, when she should have been telling him that he doesn't need to go to such heinous lengths, that he is a great sorcerer despite that perceived accident (which wasn't even Cedric's fault, but nobody would know that until much later in 'Through the Looking-Back Glass') all those years ago and despite what everyone thinks. Winifred should have told him- ever since he was a kid- the best way to prove himself to everyone is to ignore what they say, to remember that one mistake does not define him and his abilities, and to hold his head up high and carry on with confidence, to remember that he's still a great sorcerer. Instead, Winifred seemed to believe- like Cedric- that taking over the kingdom was the only way he could show everybody what he was capable of, that seizing power was the only answer.

It took Sofia's friendship for Cedric to realize what true support looks like, and for him to realize that he could still prove himself without being guided by bitterness, hatred, and revenge- which only poisoned him instead of making anything better- and that friendship is what he needed all along (he lost the friends he had ever since the Incident, including Roland).

As a result of Winifred's well-meaning, but misguided method of supporting her son, I hc that she inadvertently made Cedric think that taking over the kingdom was the only way she would be proud of him and love him. This wasn't true, but it's how she made him feel, thus making him believe that he had to prove himself even to his mom- even though she was one of the only ones to ever 'support' him. (In fact, this is going to come up in the next chapter of my story). Not only that, but I hc after 'Day of the Sorcerers'', he told his parents about the Order of the Wand and how he renounced his evil dreams (all thanks to Sofia's friendship and support, which he realized he should have seen all along), thinking his mom would be deeply ashamed of him... and she greatly surprised him by telling him she was always already proud of him and loved him, and was only trying to support him in what he wanted, and that of course she fully supported his decision to stop trying to take over the kingdom (and remember at the end of the finale 'Forever Royal', when Cedric's parents were telling him how proud they were for saving Sofia from the amulet- using a spell only a truly great and powerful sorcerer could pull off- and finally earning the title he always wanted of 'Cedric the Great' by demonstrating such a powerful act of love, friendship, and strength, Winifred said "Well, done, Ceddy-kins! Well done!")

As to Goodwyn not apologizing, that definitely would have made his reconciliation with his dad in 'Mystic Meadows' PERFECT. But I agree that Goodwyn- because of his stubbornness, and because he's just not a very sentimental man- is not good with apologizing, especially with words. So, he apologized the best way he knew how- by openly acknowledging how wrong he was about Cedric by granting him the sacred family wand (and he even hugged Cedric, which I'm guessing is very out-of-character for a gruff, stubborn man like him). His actions spoke far louder than words ever could.

Yet, finally gaining his dad's respect was only part of the battle won for Cedric and Winifred, as much as it truly meant a LOT and helped... because they both still believed he needed to seize control of the kingdom to show everybody else. But the sad thing is, Cedric gaining his dad's respect at Mystic Meadows without fulfilling his evil dream should have been a huge wakeup call to both him and his mother that it wasn't the way...

Note: This is like 8 to 10 years after the events of Deathly Hallows.

Luna: 4th year. Half-blood, but both her birth parents are long gone and she was adopted as a baby by a muggle couple. Metamorphmagus. Sorting Hat cried out “SLYTHERIN” pretty much the moment it touched her head. She’s not well-liked by the other Slytherins, since so many are the type who look down their noses at muggleborns. Was already an expert when it came to pranking, vandalism, and general troublemaking (not to mention getting away with things) pre-Hogwarts, but every bit of magic she learned (not to mention everything she found at Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes) opened her to a whole WORLD of possibilities in that area which she quickly began experimenting with and putting to good use. She got bullied since the first day of her first year, but retaliated with ruthless pranks magical and nonmagical in nature until most learned to leave her alone. Plenty still haven’t, though, and she continues to deal with them in the way she does. She and Peeves have a kind of mutual respect for each other. She has an owl named Basil who she sends to and from her parents regularly. She also has a turtle named Rupert. Made friends with Jewel, Allets, and Eliote in her 1st or 2nd year. Wand is nine and a half inches long, made of pine, reasonably supple, with a unicorn tail core.

Jewel: 4th year. Pure-blood, but doesn’t know it since she’s been an orphan as long as she can remember and doesn’t know WHO the heck her parents are. Hufflepuff. Favorite classes are Charms, Herbology, and Care of Magical Creatures. She happens to be VERY good at those. Refuses to wear the black robes she’s supposed to, wears robes with vibrant colors and lots of embroidery instead. Plus flower crowns, and necklaces and bracelets full of crystals. Talks to the paintings and the ghosts more than she talks to most of her schoolmates. Spends a lot of time in the library. Likes exploring the castle and even the Forbidden Forest in her spare time. Makes good friends with Hagrid. Being introduced to the Wizarding World was a big thing that had her suuuuper nervous at first and was hard to adjust to, but she's making some progress with that. Made friends with Luna, Allets, and Eliote in her 1st or 2nd year. Wand is ten inches long, swishy, made of English oak or red oak with a unicorn hair core.

Allets: 5th year. Pure-blood. Hufflepuff. Parents are rich and a bit snobby, kind of elitist and anti-muggle but never QUITE managed to instill that in her, no matter how they tried. They tried to enroll her at Beauxbatons, but there were a LOT of applications that year and there ended up being no room for her, so they enrolled her at Hogwarts, reasoning that it was the next-best thing and some great witches and wizards in the family had gone there. They put a lot of pressure on her to excel in all her academics. She’s good at Charms and Defense Against The Dark Arts and flying, but the rest of her classes not so much. She tries really hard to please her parents anyway. Over time as she makes friends at Hogwarts (Luna, Jewel, and Eliote in her 2nd or 3rd year) she starts to break off more and more from being firmly tied to her parents’ command. They don’t like this one bit and continue trying to exert control over her, which is an ongoing struggle but she gets stronger every year. Joined her house’s quidditch team in her 4th year as a seeker and is really good at it. Wand is ten and three quarter inches long, made of hawthorn, supple, with a phoenix feather core.

Eliote: 5th year. Muggleborn. Hufflepuff (the Sorting Hat really took awhile to decide with her). Parents died when she was like seven, probably killed by Death Eaters during the time of Voldemort’s return, and she lived in an orphanage afterwards until the day her Hogwarts letter arrived. She probably was really confused and kinda annoyed at first with how she was the only one around her who could see the threstrals. Her parents’ death hit her pretty hard and she’s still recovering (probably she was right there to witness it and barely got out alive, so, yeah, PTSD from that, plus survivor’s guilt as it’s possible she might’ve led the Death Eaters to them by i dunno whining a little too loud about something childish while they were nearby or something). It’s been easier since she became friends with Allets, Luna, and Jewel in her 2nd or 3rd year. Wants to be an Auror. Favorite classes are Potions and Defense Against The Dark Arts. Good at all her classes but best at those. Wand is ten and one quarter inches long, made of fir, solid, with a unicorn hair core.

Maddie T: 4th year. Half-blood. Ravenclaw. Reads the Quibbler and genuinely believes the stuff in it. Is VERY VERY good at solving the riddles to get into the Common Room. Loves painting, spray-painting especially, and does a lot of art on the walls and ceiling of her side of the dorm she shares with Finley. Always has paint on her robes. Wears the classic big pointy witch hat, but it’s all crooked, and it’s purple, with different colored patches and feathers. Tries to do crazy stunts on her broom, like flying while hanging upside down from it. Has a lot of fun with all the stuff from Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. Made friends with Finley on the Hogwarts Express 1st year. Gets picked on a lot but doesn’t let it get to her and has a million nonsensical retorts. Wand is thirteen and a half inches long, made of dogwood, quite whippy, with a dragon heartstring core.

Finley: 4th year. Pure-blood. Ravenclaw (sorting hat shouted it out practically the second it touched her head). She kinda acts like Hermione in a lot of ways, studying a ton and raising her hand a lot and acing every class basically being a huge overachiever and perfectionist. She develops a habit of sneaking into the restricted section of the library, not with any bad intentions, just out of pure curiosity to know what kinds of knowledge is there. Might figure out how to become an animagi and then do it just because she can, without letting anycreature besides Maddie T know about it. She’d be a cat or fox or butterfly, I’m not sure which. She’s also extremely fascinated with Muggle Studies and everything related to the muggle world, not unlike Mr. Weasley. If she ever got access to the internet...hoHOOO boy... Knows how to sew and makes adjustments to her robes all the time. Embroidering flowers on them, adding ribbons and bows and sequins, adds touches of pink and/or turquoise wherever she can. Made friends with Maddie T on the Hogwarts Express 1st year, and stands up for her when she gets picked on. Wand is ten inches long, made of walnut, quite flexible, with a phoenix feather core.

Penny: 5th year. Muggleborn. Hufflepuff. Was bitten by a werewolf as a second-year. She was introduced to wolfsbane potion fairly quickly, but not before a sleepover with her muggle friends from before her Hogwarts days went south. Like, nocreature got bitten, but ALLLLLMOST. It was kinda intense and a bunch of memories had to be erased. Penny was pretty much scarred for life. Gets more distant from her muggle friends every year, partially due to so much of her life having to be in the Wizarding World now and them not being allowed to know about it, and partially for other reasons related to Penny’s memories of THAT incident. Either way it breaks her heart. Refuses to wear black robes like she’s supposed to, wears robes of different super bright colors every day. Also the friendship bracelets from her old friends. And light-up sneakers. Has brightly colored hair extension clips that she clips over her hair to give herself colored streaks, changing up which colors she uses every day. Sends owls to her parents (and has them write back) every week. Wand is eleven and a half inches long, made of ebony (? maybe fir? or pear?), slightly springy, with a unicorn hair core.

Twig: 1st year. Half-blood. Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. Like Finley, she gets super into all her classes and studies and everything. Only she’s way more excited by it all. The novelty of the fact that HOLY CUPCAKES SHE’S DOING ACTUAL FLIPPING MAGIC never wears off. She does get homesick at times, like, cry herself to sleep on a weekly basis homesick, so she sends owls to her parents (and has them write back) practically every day. And she does get picked on by a bunch of people. Is bummed when pure-bloods don’t get all the references she makes to stuff from the muggle world. Strong mixed feelings about the fact that they have to write with quills and ink--like, on one hand the aesthetic is SOOO cool but on the other hand pens and pencils and markers are WAY easier. Spends a lot of time reading in the library or exploring the castle and surrounding grounds. Has a pet toad named Herbie. Has always loved and been really good at flying, is great at quidditch in just about any position, and will join the team for her House as soon as she’s able. Wand is ten and one quarter inches long, made of willow, springy, with a unicorn hair core.

C.C.: 5th year. Half-blood. Metamorphmagus. Gryffindor (got sorted there very quickly). Prefect. She has a heck ton of magical energy in her that's always come out quite a lot and been a bit hard for her to control at times. Probably nearly wrecked Ollivander’s shop trying out wands, without even trying to. She uses her shapeshifting ability quite like Tonks, making animal faces for entertainment and all. It may also be why her hair is pink, orange, and blue. Loves drawing and painting and is very good at them. Favorite class is Defense Against The Dark Arts. Wants to be an auror. Plays on the Gryffindor team (i’m not sure what position, but in any case she is very good at it, maybe becomes captain in her 5th or 6th year). Wand is eleven and a three quarter inches long, pleasantly springy, made of either chestnut with a unicorn hair core, or rowan with a phoenix feather core.

Jasper: 5th year. Half-blood. Ravenclaw. Likes to hex people for fun. Goes all-out finding creative uses for spells and Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes products, like Luna, but he’s more likely to think of things that’ll affect a roomful of people rather than just one person, like setting off fireworks indoors, or putting something in the food served in the Great Hall that’ll make everycreature who eats it erupt in contagious boils. Is also willing to use some kind of dark magic for that sort of thing. He gets detention a LOT but honestly doesn’t even mind because he still had a good time doing what he did. Has a mutual respect with Peeves and they’re pretty chummy with each other actually. Also good friends with C.C., though she does get a bit exasperated with his shenanigans and how often he gets in trouble. Really good at Charms and Potions. Actually all his classes, but especially those. Wand is thirteen and one quarter inches long, made of spruce, whippy, with a dragon heartstring core.

[PEBBLYSAND'S BIZARRELY ECLECTIC FIC REC LIST] - SUMMER 2022 EDITION

to motivate myself to read more fic, i've decided to provide you with quarterly (i love that word, "quarterly", it makes it sound fancy), fic rec lists. i think: i perhaps read weird shit, but i assure you i read good shit. so, without further ado, here are seven fics i enjoyed this summer, in the order in which i read them haha.

the wandsmith's apprentice by @marycontraire (dean/seamus ; unrated ; 19,049 words; wip multichap)

this fic was recommended to me by multiple people after i wrote the fault and got super excited about deamus, and i finally had time to give it a go in early june. it's a post-war story (and, we all know i love post-war) told from dean's pov, the premise being that dean takes on an apprenticeship with ollivander and, i suppose, life ensues. i cannot stress enough how much i truly adore this work. first of all, the writing is stellar. i totally fell in love with dean's characterisation in this, which is so on point - i love the world the author has built around his family, his sisters, his parents, their lives, ect. so many OCs that feel real. the fic also really explores what life looks like for muggleborns, existing with a foot in both worlds, especially after the war, and i found that terribly interesting. the worldbuilding around wandmaking is also frankly mindblowing and the amount of detail this author has put into the creating and crafting of wands, as well as ollivander, his mind, his work, his shop, etc. is truly next level. the deamus is also the loveliest. i love seamus in this. i was in absolute awe. i have yet to read the rest of marycontraire's work (i understand there's a lot of deamus to be excited about!) but this was truly fantastic and i can't wait for the next installment.

idk, man. this fic is one of the ones that just now lives in my head rent-free. probably my fave i read this summer. it is sad. like, real sad, but in a sort of it-is-what-it-is, realistic and understated way. it's been orphaned but i must give huge kudos to this author for their ability to tear my heart out with less than 1,500 words. it explores harry's reaction to ron and hermione getting married, in an AU post-war world where he and ginny broke up. the summary reads:

“We’re getting married,” says Ron, and Harry just blinks.

Then he says, “Oh”.

i just. it's one of those fics where i don't know what to say, but i can't stop thinking about it. just read it and you'll understand.

this is a harry-goes-to-therapy fic, and i usually tend to steer away from those because they're often just retellings of the books, exploring things that we already know, and personally bore me. also, i don't actually think therapy is for everyone, and i'm not sure harry would be a good candidate. but this has managed to change my mind a little. the writing is absolutely amazing, and i like that it wasn't about what harry says in therapy, but about the decision of going and opening up. i find that reflection very interesting, and the characterisation is spot on. i also really loved ginny in this. it truly felt like a novel take on something that's been written a million times before, and that's a super hard thing to achieve. i truly enjoyed this, and actually wish there was more of it!

this is a story about crookshanks. yes, i know it's a cat. this house is allergic to cats, but still love them very much. i fucking love this cat. i told you this list was bizarrely eclectic: this is one of those weird ones. but, please trust me on this, you won't be disappointed.

it is absolutely amazing. the writing is brilliant, and i got so invested in crookshanks' life i swear to god. there are so many layers to this story, i loved all of the owners and their narratives pre-hermione, and then absolutely adored the hermione-crookshanks relationship, striking just the right emotions for me. also the ending, and hermione's panic thinking crookshanks had forgotten her (the unspoken parallel with her parents 🥺 ; ron's contrasting optimism) was incredible. i just adored this so much. an absolute fave!

thirty-five owls by letterblade (dumbledore/grindelwald ; m ; 11,284 words ; one-shot)

this has a kudo count in the thousands so i suppose it's rather famous in its niche, but i'd never read it before, so i'll rec it regardless. i began reading this one night and then was up until three in the morning finishing it. it's a fic made up entirely of correspondence between dumbledore and grindelwald stretching from after the duel and his arrest to albus's death. it's ... interesting. i'm not sure how to describe this fic but it really grabbed me, despite it being about a ship i'd never really cared about before. as someone who's had to write letters between two people in the past, i know how hard it is to write two distinct first-person narratives while making sure that each character keeps their specific "voice", and this fic does that incredibly well. i loved the rockiness of this relationship, the way they both push and pull and never really seem to meet in the middle. it's a fascinating take and i genuinely could not put it down.

okay, this is another one of those weird ones where you'll just have to trust me, lol. i literally found this off the front page of AO3, which doesn't happen often, and adored it. it centres on the story of a muggleborn OC who gets arrested by death eaters at the start of the war. one of the tags is "the banality of evil," which i think describes the point that this fic is trying to make very well. It's just a really interesting story about what the war might have looked like to the "average" muggleborn in early 1997. I loved this.

Stutters and halts. Stutters and halts. The story of the two of them. And all the forgetting too, she thought tiredly. Suddenly, the gravity is too much. She needs to leave. Now. The exhaustion threatens to consume her with every lick of the grass on her ankles. She can’t be here. Can’t stay still lest she never moves again.

i've not stopped thinking about this paragraph since i read it. i'm in awe. this is so my vibe i could cry. loooooved this.
