Hm. In my first playthrough I always had Karlach (was romancing her <3) In my Gale Origin for the first third of the game I HAD to have Lae'zel or Karlach as a tank to take some heat off myself. Once Minthara joined though she never left my party. Since my Gale Origin playthrough with Minthy was my favorite and most memorable, I voted for her in the poll. :] My ideal setup is Gale as either evocation wizard, storm sorcerer, or blue dragon sorcerer with a tempest cleric multiclass, Minthara as a vengeance paladin, Lae'zel as a battlemaster fighter, and Shadowheart as a light domain cleric for reliable healing. Yapping about builds below the cut:

This party packs a serious punch I love it. Gale functions well as a powerful ranged glass cannon at the center, defended by two heavy-hitting martials (fighter and paladin) with Shadowheart as a dedicated healer and Minthy doling out some as needed. It's great for ending fights quickly. Also tempest cleric muticlassed with especially storm/blue dragon sorcerer is broken. You just rain on all your enemies and then electrocute them with the maxed out guaranteed lightning/thunder damage you get from the cleric ability. You can take out many things in 1-2 turns this way. Blue dragon is the best one damage wise but storm sorcerer has some cool abilities and meshes the best. Evocation is also an ok option since you can avoid killing your teammates in the cross-fire and it keeps Gale still tethered to his canonical class but it means you need to have someone else like Shadowheart multiclass a level of something that gives the rain or create water spell since wizards cannot use create water as a bonus action. Minthy and Lae'zel can finish off any stragglers while Gale targets the high health clusters of enemies/bosses. Very fun.

you know. the failed escape attempts before zag defeats his father that first time must have been an insane thing to witness like from the perspective of the other characters. no real progress being made until zag actually meets his mother for the first time, but up to that point he’s doing the same thing over and over while all the characters are either afraid of him or angry with him. he appears, speaks a few words to them, runs off, dies, reappears, over and over again.

this is not a time loop but zag is emerging from the pool covered in blood again. he shakes his head like a dog to get rid of the lingering waters of the styx again. he approaches the faintly twinkling mirror in his room again. this is not a time loop but thanatos runs into him in the same places and gives him the same boon again. this is not a time loop but zag and his father have the same arguments in front of the same massive desk while hades is scribbling on what might as well be the same paperwork again. this is not a time loop but zag keeps dying and the chambers are reset and all the shades keep coming back to their posts to fight and die again. this is not a time loop but before he meets his mother that first time he dies a thousand different ways but is always emerging from the pool covered in blood again.

Durge and Astarion have the potential to be the BESTEST buddies or the most loyal lovers. Like almost immediately after Astarion threatened them Durge is like "OMG BESTIE SAME ID LOVE TO SEE YOUR ENTRAILS". Then once he joins the party Durge has clocked him as being undead basically right away. Maybe not fully realising it but the mind doesn't dance with thoughts of a perfect pretty corpse for any of the other companions.

Not to mention just how similar they both are. When Astarion pours his heart out to durge in act iii after they find out the truth??? It's such a sweet moment. He knows exactly what to say to them and nobody else even asks Durge how they're feeling after finding out the truth besides him.

Everyone else is just like "oh wow. So maybe don't be a Bhaalspawn ok?". They're not exactly helpful lol

ALSO not to mention the "kill your darling" cutscene??? Astarion is fucking terrified but he's so sweet about it ;w;

And Astarions like "you're cute! In another life we may have been friends. But this is MY SWEET and you need to get out >:c"

Just to minimize my chances of being genuinely misunderstood OR deliberately misinterpreted, and crucified for something I don't think, How Dare You Say We Piss on the Poor website etc...I'm gonna say this right up top. I absolutely understand why people don't like Thessaly as a character, if anyone does completely unironically stan her as some kind of feminist hero who Did Nothing Wrong uwu, I personally see it as a bit of a red flag. I don't like terfs real or fictional. In a vacuum, I could even completely sympathize and agree with the people who want her cut.

HOWEVER.

It's really something to me to see people clamoring for her to be cut, because she carries and expressed an ugly indefensible prejudice (transphobia) in words towards (1) person. Meanwhile Hob fucking Gadling enacted one of the most violent forms of antiblack racism I can even think of against thousands no, millions of people, the ripple effects of which still affect billions more today. Just a little light idk, profiting off the fucking slave trade and had to be told by someone else that it was bad...and he's a fan favorite.

People are saying Thessally being Dream's love interest reflects badly on him or is somehow endorsement by the narrative (?!?!?!?!?!? Didn't she (SPOILER ALERT AS IF IT MATTERS BY NOW) help participate in his extended assisted suicide? She's not painted as a great person to me just another character what are y'all SMOKING whatever fine. It's fine this is fine.) But shipping Dream with Mr. Former Slaver is not only not verboten or frowned on widely in the fandom but its THEE most popular pairing by far. So...why the difference?

Like where are the same fans who are saying Thessaly shouldn't just be more clearly shown to be wrong, she shouldn't even be in the show at all when it comes to Hobert's crimes??? Yes, transphobia is indefensible. Isn't racism?

You don't have to like Thessaly (I don't. I find her an interesting antagonist, I don't stan her. And frankly imo likability is not. the point of her character) but you'll pardon me for feeling more than a bit cynical and side eying people's motivations for what seems a...pretty obvious double standard, on what fictional crimes related to real world issues matter to y'all, and which clearly don't. Either actually bring the same energy to the table for fictional people who committed atrocities, even if against a group you're not part of and thus don't feel the need to empathize with, or just carry on, but accept that you don't have the SLIGHTEST room to talk about cutting characters who do immoral things. And you also need to accept that you look like a hypocrite when you do.
