I have now finished my index for this series' lore (fucking finally, it took me forever-). It's a VERY long document and I'm too sleepy to proofread it again so I'll just edit any errors out in the morning.

This is to just help anyone catch up with the games and its stories in preparation for Hidden Memories and any other future installments (spoilers of course if you haven't played it yet), and it helps to keep any and all information about them organized into one file when thinking about the overall plot the series is taking. As of posting this, I haven't included the new info provided by HM's trailer such as the protagonist's name being Lucian and the reveal that Delian would be in this game. This is where I'll also be revising my version of the games' timeline so I wouldn't bombard the tag every couple of months with an updated version of it.

I'll update this every once in a while once new games are released and as for when Hidden Memories finally arrives, I'll wait for at least two weeks after release so as to not accidentally spoil it for anyone. Hope you guys like it!

All these are according to the Play Store. Already done one for Unwanted Experiment. Missed out on Haunted Laia's, but I'll be sure to remember next year.

I think it's important to mention that I live in the Eastern Hemisphere, so the release dates are probably slightly different for some of you.

Food for thought, why exactly was Laia separated from Bastian in EFTS?

I mean yeah, there was a trap there but why add the monster dungeon level in the first place? Laia didn't get anything down there that can help her and Bastian escape, or really any additional info about Penumbra other than the fact that there's a monster dungeon under the ruins (and somehow a notary system works down there). And the Shadow didn't do anything to Bastian while she was gone so why separate them in the first place? If we remove it from the game, the plot is literally still the same since they'll still end up going to the cathedral ruins.

This borders on speculation but maybe there's something in the dungeon that they'll probably come back to in future games. I mean-

They gotta explain who the coffins belong to, right?

Or why, in a dungeon filled with monsters, is there a human in there?

Was there every any hope for Dream and Nightmare?

Could they have stayed in their universe, stayed together, stayed happy?

Maybe. But somehow, I can't see it, at least not after the village comes into the picture. They might have been able to stay in their own little bubble forever, but as soon as that outside force exists, the clock starts ticking.

It was Nightmare who couldn't take it anymore. But it could have easily been Dream. Either way, it was only a matter of time. I don't think there was any avoiding it, not really. Not in their situation, not with who they are.

Nightmare. The scapegoat, the dark one, the moon, the night. Tied to his brother by his very name, because even though he wasn't a nightmare, he's Dream's opposite, and that is all he was ever seen as by others. The dark to Dream's light, the negativity to Dream's positivity. Always defined by his brother, even before he was hurt for merely existing. Did he ever really get to be his own person?

And Dream, the golden one, the perfect one, the kind one, the sun. Always so helpful and positive. Always in demand, because who doesn't want to be happy? Their happiness is his responsibility. So he smiles, he helps, he conceals all the stress and sadness and anger and grief. He can't be seen with negative emotions, he can't effect others with his own feelings, he can't let his own feelings or needs or self matter when there's always other people who need him. So he keeps up that sunshine mask, keeps all the clouds and rain and storms locked in the dark where nobody can see them.

You can't maintain masks like that under enough built-up pressure. Eventually, something breaks.

Maybe they still had a chance. Broken things can heal, after all. Maybe they could have helped each other, grown, figured out a way to make things better.

Or maybe they were doomed from the start.

All I know is that if one didn't break, the other would have eventually.
