I made the blacksmith Eurydice eventually marries!

This is Nicholas, he’s twenty-one and the personal blacksmith to the royal family of Ithaca. His father, who was childhood friends with Odysseus, was the blacksmith before him, but died five years before Ody returned to Ithaca and Nick has been the blacksmith ever since. Nick makes all of the weapons for the army and guards and, of course, the Prince and Princess. He also makes jewelry for the royal family, too.

When Nick was five, he met Tele and Eury, who were four at the time, while they were playing hide and seek. Eury asked Nick to hide her from her big brother, and he complied since he didn’t see the harm. Eventually he got roped into the game and they all played until Penelope and Nick’s father found all three of them playing tag in one of the palace gardens. All three of them have stayed friends since and Nick is one of the few people the twins fully trust aside from their mother and very few of the staff members in the palace.

Nick usually spends his time fulfilling requests in his forge and maintaining weapons. When he isn’t doing that, he’s spending time with one of the twins or his little brother or helping his mother. He doesn’t like the suitors at all, especially their treatment of his friends and the Queen, and can tell them off since they’re not his guests. Tele usually only leaves Eury’s side when Nick is able to be with her since he knows Nick can put a stop to any bullshit, and occasionally Tele asks Nick to stay with Penelope, too.

With all the time Nick has spent with the royal family, he’s basically seen as part of their family. Penelope thinks he’s a good young man and talks about how cute he was as a baby just like she does with Tele and Eury, which makes all three of them want to die of embarrassment. Tele just introduces him as his brother out of pure habit and it’s only after Nick corrects him that he gets it right.

And the amount of romantic and sexual tension between Nick and Eury is unreal-

They enjoy each other’s company a lot and Eury has dragged him around the palace and shown him secret passageways and secluded gardens that no one but the royal family knows about. She’s even invited Nick to come along on a few of her solo hunting trips where she disappears and spends the day in the woods, hunting and cooking her own meals. Eury also randomly drops by his forge when she’s able to slip away from her brother and she watches Nick work on weapons and jewelry. Though, Nick has had to get used to hiding things in good places at a second’s notice since Eury will occasionally pop into the forge while he’s working on a gift for her and he doesn’t want her to see anything because he knows she can get snoopy.

Speaking of gifts, they give each other little things all the time. Big enough to mean something, but small enough to avoid being counted as a courtship or wedding gift. Eury being Princess of Ithaca comes in handy for this since formal events require her to be dressed up and wear jewelry, so Nick can make these things for her without them being courtship gifts since he is the royal blacksmith and also makes jewelry for Penelope—though, Eury’s pieces are more personalized. And Eury gives Nick food or gives him new tools for his forge, since it can be seen as her taking care of someone who works for her family.

Tele has no idea about this tension (he’s dense like Ody, okay?) but Penelope and Nick’s mother know all about it. The two women giggle while they visit with each other, telling their own stories of catching glimpses of the two sneaking off to spend time with each other. For Pen it’s a little bittersweet since it reminds her of how playful and mischievous Ody was while he was courting her, how he’d sneakily drag her away to go and take a walk by the old olive tree where they met before they were engaged. But it also feels comforting that Eury has found one good thing to take her away from the hell that had become her home, even only for short periods.

And Nick is absolutely terrified when Ody comes home. Not just because he murdered the suitors, but because of what atrocities they planned to do to his family. They’d plotted to kill his son and then assault his wife and then his daughter. He ended up meeting up with Eury after she killed the suitors who peeled off to attempt to assault her, only to meet their end by her hand. The two ended up making out because Nick was just so relieved that the love of his life was safe and sound without a single hair out of place.

After that, then Nick feared Ody’s wrath. The man was famous for making it out of Troy, fighting monsters, going toe-to-toe with the gods themselves and he came out of it determined and alive with only his family on his mind. He remained strong and undaunted from his goal. And while it was admirable and inspiring, it was also terrifying for Nick.

Ody was possessive of his wife and highly protective of his children, especially his daughter since many nobles only looked at her like a piece of meat. Tele was under his protection as well, but he also aided in the protection of Eury since she was his baby sister, no matter how small their age gap was. Also, since Eury is the family baby (until Ody goes nuts with his fucking breeding kink, the little freak-), everyone says that no one is good enough for her because she’s the baby. Even Athena jumps on this bandwagon!

And it terrifies Nick because he doesn’t think he’s good enough for Eury, especially not after her father who could snap him in half comes home! It used to only be worried that he wasn’t a noble and Tele would probably have him skinned alive and Pen would use his skin for a new pair of sandals and Athena would likely have the Fates make his life a living hell until his death. But now Nick has to not only fear the wrath of the Prince, the Queen, and the literall Goddess of War and Wisdom, but he has to face Odysseus, the man who defied gods and basically dared them to try and keep him from his wife before killing around one hundred men by himself. Yeah, no, Nick was almost positive he was gonna fucking die if he even thought about offering a wedding gift and asking for Ody’s blessings to marry his daughter.

Eventually Ody, now honed and trained to be observant and to see his opponent’s every single thought from just a glance, realizes that Nick is afraid of him. The reason why eludes him, but he just knows that his blacksmith is terrified every single time he enters the room and he doesn’t want him to be afraid of the man he’s meant to work for. Ody tries to be friendlier, talking to Nick and even offering for him and his family to join Ody and everyone else for dinner. Eventually, Nick breaks and presents his saved wedding gift as an offering to Ody and tells him that he’s loved Eury for years and wishes to begin the courting process and eventually propose to her and will gladly accept any punishment for speaking so out of line.

Ody looked at the blacksmith before he laughed, set the gift on a nearby table, and said that Nick had more than proven himself a worthy husband for his baby girl. And Nick cried out of both relief that he wasn’t going to be executed and happiness from finally being able to express his feelings properly.

And I’m gonna stop there before I continue to blabber any further. Basically, I love my little blacksmith and just wanna make a doll of Nick and a doll of Eury kiss over and over again-
