We have really gon so far. If someone would've told me that the Deadpool test footage leak would lead to two Deadpool movies being made and a third one that involves/stars Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine... I would've just told them that they were wishfully thinking.

Like this should've been the stuff that we would start imagining becoming a reality after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox (technically 1/3 of the things did 😅).

I remember finding out about the test footage leak while eating breakfast before I had to go to school. I watched the video over and over and even showed it to my brother with excitement. Knowing that it was old made me feel confident that nothing was going to come from it just like the Marvin the Martian and Hong Kong Phooey test footage leaks (anyone remembers those 😂). Man, was I so glad that I was wrong.

Apparently Liev Schreiber didn't come back as Sabes for DP&W because he wasn't really willing to push his body so ridiculously hard to get back into the shape the character demanded, which is honestly a pretty reasonable take for a guy in his fifties. Like we all know the insane shit Hugh had to do to prep for coming back as Logan (and it was way worth it) but it makes sense that not everyone would be willing/able to do that as well.

Vinnie Jones didn't come back as Juggernaut either because of the massive physical demands of the practical suit (doing the stunt work in that helmet was apparently genuinely painful for him back in the day). Even Jennifer Garner had to train like crazy to get back to Elektra's toned look for a glorified cameo.

We really need to talk more about the intense demands superhero flicks put on their stars and how much actors have to put themselves through to meet these fictional body standards. Massive respect to all the actors who go through the Marvel/DC "bulk up" workouts and training. Literally putting their bodies on the line for our entertainment.

I was already optimistic about Gunn’s vision for the Live Action DC Universe but the fact that he’s including Hawk Girl, Krypto & Mr. Terrific in his foundational Superman movie has me even more hype than I expected to be

So on Monday, I wanted to watched something relatively low effort. I put on Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, ready to watch the World's Finest battle a lesser Justice League.

What I had forgotten is that the film's plot is the consequences of electing arrogant, petty, narcissistic billionaire Lex Luthor as US President.

It was an oddly appropriate choice.
