It's just bad movie fatigue

Do you hate superhero movies?
or the fact that the only two companies making movies are using a formula?

We have really gon so far. If someone would've told me that the Deadpool test footage leak would lead to two Deadpool movies being made and a third one that involves/stars Hugh Jackman as the Wolverine... I would've just told them that they were wishfully thinking.
Like this should've been the stuff that we would start imagining becoming a reality after Disney acquired 20th Century Fox (technically 1/3 of the things did 馃槄).
Tumblr media
I remember finding out about the test footage leak while eating breakfast before I had to go to school. I watched the video over and over and even showed it to my brother with excitement. Knowing that it was old made me feel confident that nothing was going to come from it just like the Marvin the Martian and Hong Kong Phooey test footage leaks (anyone remembers those 馃槀). Man, was I so glad that I was wrong.

Apparently Liev Schreiber didn't come back as Sabes for DP&W because he wasn't really willing to push his body so ridiculously hard to get back into the shape the character demanded, which is honestly a pretty reasonable take for a guy in his fifties. Like we all know the insane shit Hugh had to do to prep for coming back as Logan (and it was way worth it) but it makes sense that not everyone would be willing/able to do that as well.
Vinnie Jones didn't come back as Juggernaut either because of the massive physical demands of the practical suit (doing the stunt work in that helmet was apparently genuinely painful for him back in the day). Even Jennifer Garner had to train like crazy to get back to Elektra's toned look for a glorified cameo.
We really need to talk more about the intense demands superhero flicks put on their stars and how much actors have to put themselves through to meet these fictional body standards. Massive respect to all the actors who go through the Marvel/DC "bulk up" workouts and training. Literally putting their bodies on the line for our entertainment.

I want Cass to be in movies partially cause I love her, partially cause her being a relatively obscure batfam member gives some Cass stans a complex. I think becoming mainstream is the humbling this fandom needs.
Or maybe they'll become more pretentious about it. But at least there will be more newer fans.

The MCU is coming back, and here's why
The MCU is headed towards another high, and that's because they've found a new selling point: homoeroticism.
I'm not even kidding. I've been a dedicated MCU fan since iron man 1, and I saw all of its rise and fall.
Loki was the only thing that was really well received in the MCU before Deadpool and Wolverine recently, and, from what i've seen, I believe it was because of the buddy-cop romantic implication of Loki and Mobius (it WAS queerbaiting, there's no way around it.)
There was the major success of Deadpool and Wolverine, with just the most blatant, almost central-plot-point homoeroticism and flirting between the main characters.
Loki, deadpool and wolverine are long-time fan favorites. if you've seen DP&W, i'm sure you were as shocked as i was about the amount of gay sex jokes.
Agatha all along is going to have explicit queer rep, and it's the sequel to one of the best, most well-recieved MCU projects ever, Wandavision.
There's not much queerness in the action genre, especially in the superhero subgenre, as popular as it is, and I believe that the entertainment industry is starting to realize that. I believe they've begun to see that there is a huge opportunity to bank off of a demographic that's just now being seen as one.
i also think it's fitting that the superhero movie industry is starting this maybe about a decade after the comic industry did.

Shawn Levy, one of the main creative forces behind the blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine movie, is well-acquainted with its leading stars, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Levy previously worked with Jackman on the 2011 sci-fi action film Real Steel and collaborated with Reynolds on the 2022 time-travel adventure The Adam Project.
While some may think directing such celebrated actors might become routine, for Levy, guiding the third Deadpool installment and uniting these two beloved characters was an unforgettable opportunity. He remained in awe of Reynolds' and Jackman's unwavering dedication and passion to elevate the film to its utmost potential.
Deadpool & Wolverine continues to captivate audiences in theaters.
